From the way they designed it you’re supposed to go after the survivor with box and if you can down him you’re rewarded with massive map pressure or if you can’t do that at least you get a assured chase. I feel like Franklins and Hoarder makes getting the box too easy and takes away that hard fought reward and also make it too difficult for survivors to stop the chain hunt. I say this as a new pinhead main

I was always really hesitant to play killer given how lopsided matches could be for a casual player like myself, especially if I'm playing a killer I've never played before. From what I hear SBMM is supposed to change that. I hear that it's more beneficial if you're a casual player. Has anyone been able to confirm this? I really don't want to sweat while I play.

Not very, I've found them pretty chill while still being exciting.

  • I didn't know that.

What I do is down them, and then a few inches from a wall, I put a trail of torment, pick them up, and force them to wiggle out into the trail. If they figure out what you are doing and stop wiggling, you can drop them a few times and it auto wiggles them out.

yeah, that part's not a big deal, just the strategic issues of sending a survivor to the other end of the map and losing all pressure over them.

  • Maybe the real bugs were the friends we made along the way?

Not to mention there are moments when you don't want to send the survivor to a cage and just hook them instead, depending on things like everyone's location on the map.

true, I was actually just doing that one.

I bought the game after the chapter came out so its not free content, its part of what I payed for with the base game. On top of that, I also own the Stranger Things DLC which is advertised as containing the map. The following is copied directly from: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1135280/Dead_by_Daylight__Stranger_Things_Chapter/.

    "New Map: The Underground Complex

Located below of the Hawkins National Laboratory, this underground complex released dozens of inter-dimensional creatures in November 1984 before the rift was sealed. The site includes an isolation tank and equipment once used by government officials to conduct mind control experiments on test subjects. Now the walls of the abandoned facility are sprayed with bullets and blood, evidence of the battle against the creatures."

I reskimmed the EULA and I don't know why they're allowed to remove this content. I'm not a lawyer so I might have missed something that allows this. Is there someone that can highlight it?

I expect they'll reskin it within a few months and rerelease it. maybe with some gameplay tweaks.

Is it useful to cast the gateway far away?

If you cast it far away, the survivors have plenty of time to get free and run away. Maybe only if you use some other add-ons like injury, etc. So on its own the add-on which increases the range is probably pointless.

Let me know what you think or if you have some good long-distance strategies.

good for scouting and action interruption. paired with perks that give you aura reading or sound notifications, you could just make most actions impossible.

I just want to play the game man, am i asking too much?

I haen't been having horribly long q times, but I've got two recommendations:

    1. Watch a video while you wait*, occasionally checking to make sure the match hasn't started yet.
    2. Play with your friends/online acquaintances on a custom match.

Yesterday I went against so many of these and all but one of them did the same thing: proxy camp their first hook and force trade anyone who came in for a save and proceeded to tunnel the person off hook by waiting out BT (Valid tactic I know) and downing with hatchets from afar. If they couldn't tunnel then they just went back and hooked the rescuer and then rinsed and repeat.

Every single one of these huntresses were in iridescent (Red) ranks Idk if that matters but just an additional tidbit.

I was with one friend and otherwise the other two survivors were randoms and it was just depressing because each time resulted in 4ks before we could realize quite what was going on to just rush gens and get out but like, is that the strategy? Do it like a camping Bubba and just gen rush and leave?

I'm starting to absolutely loathe Huntress because I want to get better at actually looping her and yet almost all of them just camp like this and are usually pretty toxic in the end game chat as well for no reason. I don't get it if you win I don't see the point in adding salt to the wound against people who aren't being toxic to you in the first place >.>

as far as I know, that's just something new huntress's seem to do. it's pretty easy kills.

best thing to do is go out in a blaze of glory, move unpredictably, and not read the end game chat.

There is no "secret strategy" to playing pinhead. Why do people have this idea that they are the best and that THEY know what's right?

I'm not assuming there's some secret strat, I'm just enjoying the character. I was just sharing my initial thoughts and reactions in that video. play the way that's fun for you, that video just shows some tips for aiming the chains and some builds I find helpful. the guide is more for me than anyone else.

Am I explaining this adequately? I really don't mean to boast, brag, or put anyone down, I'm just finding the character strong, just in need of getting used to, and sharing my initial thoughts in that guide (mostly as a way to process and record that information)

I need some help here, every time I use Pig, they never detonate. Apparently a generator being completed activates them, but I wanted to test it out, so I put it on right before a generator popped (about 5 seconds). Walked him to a hook, and camped it for like 30 seconds. Someone peeled for him, I knocked him down and slugged him for at least two minutes. It never went off...

The exit gates were not open when I started this experiment, but they were by the end, lol. I gave them nearly 5 minutes just because I want to see one of those things go off once. They always seem to find the key as I am chasing the next person.

I am at a serious loss. I played as ratchet as you can imagine, and to no avail. Don't worry, they made it out with a key. They brought 2 of them. Didn't realize you could open hatch twice. So I learned SOMETHING during this. But not really the question I was after.

The timer doesn't decrease while the surv is being chased, downed or, on hook.

  • @latinfla4 said:

More tunneling more gen regression more noed usage less lower tier characters being used its beautiful 🤣

I intentionally play against the meta, and I do my best to ensure a fun game for everyone. I'm guessing I'm not the only one to play like this.

  • @baseballfan4877 said:

The game is just so awful playing against four good survivors. Just is. Period. They know how easy the game is if you have working hands. I hope everyone that sweats every game enjoys their stay in high MMR. It is clearly what they want. They want to go against spirit, blight, and nurse with all the best perks every single game and at the same time waiting 15 minutes in queue. They think they are so good because they can hold m1 and w against 90% of the killers. There can easily be situations where you don't interact with one or more of the survivors the whole game. No wonder why people resort to camping and tunneling. You are given no other option. You cant physically walk across the map and "pressure" a gen. And heaven forbid getting one of the survivor sided maps. Might as well dc and hope mmr gets you out of hell.

    Play some meme builds, maybe?

That way, if you lose, you have a good reason and if you win, it'll be all the sweeter.

Additionally: I find the game much more fun while I'm in character.

  • That's the perk Hex: Plaything. 90s later, you would have been able to cleanse for sure.

  • That would be busted.

I do like your idea about the puzzle box needing to be more difficult though, that could certainly be fun. however, you'd need to be careful to not make it too brutal on newer players who aren't as good at hitting skill checks.

after playing pinhead for longer, I've been finding his power easier to use effectively. I recommend checking out one of my other posts about the subject. (It's about "Jumpscare ceno" (patent pending))

  • @gatsby said:

Pinhead specializes in game delay, with some anti-loop potential. He is probably more similar to Pig than any other Killer (an upgraded Pig mind you). He forces Survivors off generators with his box and chain hunts. Finding the box yourself or downing someone with the box is even stronger and gives some tracking too.

Pair him with at least one Hex and the Survivors aren't gonna be gen rushing anytime soon they'll be pretty busy. I think some people are underrating Pinhead because his anti-loop is weaker than other Killers, but in my opinion his slowdown potential more than makes up for it. He's easily a mid-tier Killer that can start to approach high-tier if you can get consistently land his possessed chains and have the awareness of which loops they're most effective on (hint they're awesome at long wall jungle gyms).

    I highly recommend this build:

    Jumpscare pinhead: (patent pending)

    • Devour Hope
    • Plaything
    • Hoarder
    • Franklin's

  • they should replace the line with something more serious, like "give me back my rubik's cube, doofus." (joke)

personally, I'm fine with the lack of voice lines. legal stuff is legal stuff.

Wraith should be able to hit survivors while cloaked

Trapper should be able to have 50 traps that can't be disarmed.

Plague should only have her black vomit.

Pyramid head's power should be wide enough to engulf an entire loop and he should have a thong cosmetic with increased cake.

Myers should be able to down people just by looking at them.

Pigs reverse bear traps timer should be halved.

Freddy should be able to teleport directly to survivors by sprouting out of their mouth.

Clown should be able to expand his belly and roll around like a bowling ball, crushing everything in his way.

Trickster should be able to force survivors to stop running and start singing and dancing in place.

Oni should be able to throw his club like a boomerang and never miss.

Setting off Hag traps should suck the survivor into the ground and expose them.

Hill Billy should have unlimited sprinting and bumping into things no longer stop him.

Bubba should move at 150% speed.

Nurse should have her fatigue removed and no cool down between blinks.

Huntress should upgrade to a machine gun.

Doctor should be able to lock on to a survivor and summon a lightening bolt to strike them, instantly downing them.

Legion should have all of it's members in the match with an AI that makes them always chase survivors off of gens.

Ghostface should be able to throw his knives at survivors while t-bagging.

Demopuppy should be able to allow survivors to ride on his back.

Mr Cowboy should be able to shoot multiple survivors at the same time. Every time he gets a survivor all gens explode and regress to zero.

Blight should be able to tap dance while rushing.

Pinhead needs his voice lines back and should be able to walk through walls with no cooldown.

    Nemesis needs his rocket launcher.

Charlotte should be able to throw Victor at survivors and never miss.

lol. these are great. although in all seriousness, the legion one, the trapper one, the demo one, the blight one, and the trickster one would all be pretty fun if toned down an insane amount to be at a reasonable level of balance.

    1. The box makes a distinct sound when you're near.
    2. I think it may be easier to see while possessing chains. (this is completely unbased, I just had a few games in a row where the box seemed to really glow while I was possessing a chain, leading to me finding the box 2 or 3 times within a couple of minutes.
    3. try practicing tracking its spawn patterns using chatter's tooth.

With all the lore in the game, why hasnt Behavior created horror movies that go into detail about the lore and origins of the killers in the game, and a web series that follows the survivors and their trials and also gives insight into their lore and origins? It just seems extremely long over due, and I am sure the community and beyond would love to see it happen.

I think it's likely because DBD already excels at telling stories through gameplay. I think dbd is at it's best when everyone's playing in character, like willing actors in a horror movie. I think the storytelling is why I love the game so much, personally. I think it would be incredibly difficult to tell those personal stories as a TV show or series of movies - kind of in the same boat as Dungeons and Dragons; the grand scope makes it so hard to quantify.

personally, I'd be happy to just receive more lore that builds those natural stories in place of a show.

    that, and licencing shenanigans, probably.

  • @Libervita said:

I focused on this game for a long time, and found some very important problems, which affect the game environment. Survivors are often reluctant to interact with the killer and teammates on the hook and are too focused on the generator.

This phenomenon causes the rapid repair of the generator to seriously damage the game experience of teammates and killers.

Because of too much emphasis on winning and losing, many survivors cannot enjoy the interaction with the players in the game. They are too focused on the generators, resulting in extremely short play time for the killer, sometimes only two to three minutes, and five generators are repaired.

Many new killer, experience many games, just hang up a survivor, the game is over,Many new survivors encountered teammates who only repaired generators quickly, and they were hung up to the end.

The repair speed of the unit survivors is very balanced,However, the teammates who are too focused on the generator have caused the game experience of both parties to be bad, as long as multiple survivors repair different generators, the killer often catches only one survivor, and the generators will be repaired two to three.

Quick repair of the generator, so that the survivor teammates can not have the game experience, so that the killer can not have enough time to catch the survivor.

Many people hate the gameplay of keeping the hook, but the survivor’s quick repair of the generator is also not a pleasant experience, for the survivor’s teammates and the killer.

So I like the Deadlock skill. It eases the rhythm of the game a bit, and lets survivors know not to just squat and keep repairing the generator, and occasionally pay attention to the movements of teammates and killers. Although it is only a short 30 seconds, at least it won’t be fix quickly .

Before that, I also posted an article about why people who are interested in this game but don’t want to join. The answers they gave are not only the main goal, not just squatting to repair the generator, but also the reasons mentioned above.

I love this game, and I hope to play with more people, and watch this game keep getting more interesting, so I sorted out the problems of the current environment.

Nice! Glad to see your thoughts and positivity. I agree, it'll be a nice change of pace. :)

  • Personally, I don't find him super scary, visually, simply mildly discomforting.

however: every survivor I've been in a match with, when asked if that was scary, say an enthusiastic yes.

BTW, Here's a fun build to try I call Jumpscare Ceno:

Hey all! Genuine question as I’m still relatively new to the game. I noticed that the killers have basically no penalty when it comes to camping hooked survivors (besides maybe losing gens if camped at the beginning of the game). But also survivors get crows above their head if they’re stationary too long, too. I unfortunately don’t have the perks able to rescue myself so it usually leads to my death.

I’m sure this has been asked many times before but I couldn’t find an answer myself so I thought I’d reach out to try and get one. Thanks in advance and happy surviving/slaying!

    1. It's boring for everyone involved.
    2. you give up your gen pressure.

oh, well, I guess that explains it. I'm sure they worked really hard to do that.

How can you release a product that barely works? I crash 3/4 of my games when playing the killer I JUST SPENT ACTUAL MONEY ON. This is it. This is the peak of scumbaggery. This company doesn't care whatsoever at this point and is willing to release this travesty of a killer. Not only is the Cenobite nothing remarkable and barely changed from the PTB, except for course of the voice lines that made it all worth it, but now you can't even FINISH A GAME WITH HIM because the game just crashes.

This is stupid. Bugs are to be expected with this game, we've all be conditioned to expect piss-poor quality on release, but this is the limit. I cannot even PLAY the killer. When Victor got stuck on the ground, I could at the very least play M1 killer as Charlotte and maybe get a survivor to kick him. Blight's horrid collision at least had some fun aspects to it. Zombies stuck at places is ultimately just something we can operate with. But this? ######### off. I've paid real money for this, I want my goddamn product. You've had weeks to fix the main issues, and now we have this. Is there even any sort of quality control here? Because this is far, far too consistent to have just been an oversight.

I'm angry. I'm angry because I know if in the companies I worked with in the past would have had to do massive damage control is something like this happened with their product on launch. But here? Lmao. Nothing will happen. Maybe some compensation under the form of BP that cover half the games I would have liked to play as Pinhead.

Rant over. I usually don't get this annoyed unless I've actually spent money on something. At this point I do feel entitled to have my frustrations heard. No constructive criticism, because clearly those they pay to do so aren't listened to either.

I've been able to play just fine. maybe I'm just lucky.

Nea definitely has some androgynous outfits but I don't think she's gender non-conforming, rather just somebody who doesn't conform to society, rules etc.

As for The Entity, I think (as you said) it exists outside the concept of gender. As for the French however "entité" is just a feminine noun - meaning it pairs with the definite article "la" and the indefinite articule "une". In the same way "stylo" (pen) is masculine and so goes with "le" and "un". It doesn't mean that Dead by Daylight's Entity is feminine, it's how French grammar works.

I do agree, I just thought I'd seen a developer comment about the entity specifying otherwise.

    Huh?

Unless I've missed something, neither the Entity nor Nea are confirmed to be LGBTQ+.

Nea's got some cosmetics described as "for a nonconformist". that, and (though less solid evidence) her whole vibe.

The Entity was described by the devs at one point as being neither male not female. however, since in the original french, the entity is referred to as feminine, we can draw the conclusion the entity exists outside of the concept of the gender binary.
