Alright. By the way, I'll give my reasoning so that you can understand my line of thinking.

Slinger has good chase, but he's also 4.4. He's hard countered by holding W while others do gens. If you see him coming, three gens will almost definitely be done by the end of that chase.

    ... I can "C" your point there.

Really? I thought they had a pro law breaking system that would totally 100% fix latency

Unfortunately, they can only break the laws of man, not the laws of physics.

I think he'll always be C tier. And I do really well with him.

    Let's agree to disagree, then.

I won't try to "correct" you on this topic using my opinion as truth.

  • Dammit, Karu, you're doing it again!

The DbD community doesn't deserve to smile!

Stop being such a beautiful person!

    I'm telling Cote!

  • Given that the coding language that DbD is in isn't meant for constant changes, yes, she is.

The reason so many stupid bugs keep showing up everywhere is because if you change one thing, it tends to ######### up everything else in this language.

This also contributes to the poor optimization.

  • @CoalTower said:

No. You're trying to nerf a C tier killer.

Actually, he's around upper B tier to lower A tier if you master him.

I'm not saying that that justifies a nerf, though. Just correcting you for the sake of it.

  • Otz is my role model.

I've learned as much about being a good killer from him as from personal experience.

  • @slunder said:

@CoalTower at worst you will have a draw, which means 2 kills. And what is a balanced ratio? Average of 2 kills 2 escapes. There, the game is balanced.

You say that as if 1k or 0k matches were as rare as diamonds.

first off: YOU were the one arguing whether Stridor Spirit was OP or not. i simply stated that Stridor Spirit is not a good comparison to a Survivor running Spine Chill.

secondly, seeing how you dont seem to get it: you. do. not. stalk. as. Ghost Face.

But you think that a killer shutting down a play style is bad.

    i never said that btw.

You think it's okay if survivors have perks that screw killers powers

once again, i never said that.

If you're not supposed to stalk, then

WHY IS IT SUCH A MAJOR PART OF GHOSTFACE'S ######### KIT?!

Why do over half his add-ons relate to it then?

Has it occurred to that there can be multiple strategies for the same character?

Or that there are specific builds for Ghostface based on how much stalking you plan on doing?

Or that you might not be an expert on the character?

Or that not everyone wants to ignore a massive part of a character's basekit when that character's whole deal is based around it, to the point that it's heavily referred to in his advertising, his mori, his cosmetics, his animations, and his add-ons?

  • I was wondering what was going on when this happened last week while I tried out Blight.

  • *cough* Implement the early game startup phase you promised us years ago Behaviour *cough*

I came in here thinking the question was "Why dead by daylight?" as in, shouldn't maps start at night and progress towards daylight as gens are done and I was a bit hysterical because I literally had a dream about it last night.

Yours is a very valid question, I just had other expectations :D

Anyway, I wish I knew. For me it happens when I have been playing for a while and starts saying Internet issues, or sends me back to the main menu. I don't know.

Imagine if it slowly got closer to morning as the EGC ticked by. At the end, the sun would peek over the horizon, and a sweeping shockwave of destruction would suddenly burn the map away, instantly sacrificing the remaining survivors.

  • I would say 180 seconds, but yeah. This absolutely has to be made a thing.

Survivors are sick of the grind. Sick of getting into games and instantly chased and killed. Sick of op perks and killer builds. Games should be fun and playing survivor isn’t 90% of the time. You see the same killers on the same maps, using the same sweaty builds. The dcs are a reflection on morale.

If I switch around "killer" and "survivor," does it suddenly become inaccurate?

  • Ha ha, terribly.

Living in a conservative christian state kinda makes feeling proud of who I am... agonizingly difficult, to say the least.

It feels like every time I think about it, there's another reason that it makes me a bad person and another friend or family member who would call me out for those reasons if I came out to them.

My inspiration Zdzisław Beksiński has been one of the few things keeping me going lately. Here are some of his paintings:

Happy Pride month and happy Father's Day everyone.

  • Survivors being nice to me. It just makes my day when someone doesn't act like an ######### to me.

Or viciously torturing them for the mistake of ######### with me. Sometimes, rampant slaughter is too good for some people.

Well, I know I myself rely on sight to help escape the killer, and I've faced my fair share of Freddies. When he swings around a corner, misses by a solid in game foot, and still downs you, it can feel a bit ridiculous.

    Well, yeah.

    I can't argue with that.

I mean, I can, but it would just be deliberately dancing around valid points for seven posts.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2292543#Comment_2292543

As a Killer main, I can confirm this. Most people who play killer lose a match or two and then assume the problem is the game, not their own skill.

Both sides have advantages, some fair, others not so fair (keys and Freddy lunges, to name only two)

Everyone on these forums need to hurry up and grow some thicker skin. At the end of the day, it comes down to wether or not you had fun.

Why do you think Freddy's lunge is an unfair advantage? It's literally the exact same as any other killer's lunge. He's just a small guy with a small weapon, so it looks a bit wonky when it uses the same hitbox as the Great Knife.

  • Give all killers basekit slowdown.

Make kicking gens actually worth the investment.

How do you have 1200 posts but don't know a lot of those killer's powers yet?

I can only play DBD between the hours of 8:00 and 10:00.

Plus, I didn't have a lot of money lying around when I got the game.

I got these killers because this was an excellent opportunity to make a big, stupid investment.

    franklin's demise.

And I've seen Lethal on Nurse... If you can down survivors across the map before they can even orient themselves, something went wonky

Franklin's isn't that strong, and it wasn't that strong before the nerf.

Can't really argue about Lethal, though. I guess there are two killers that benefit from it.

  • Tunnel. It's one of the very few things a survivor can do to make me tunnel them, the other one being bringing a key.

I generally give the last survivor the hatch as compensation.

If you wanna hurt your teammates, prepare to be hurt in turn.

  • @gendoss said:

Freddy is the strongest killer in the game statistically. He has the highest kill rate.

I know he's strong, I just didn't get a very good idea of how he usually handles.

  • That doesn't seem to be the case. For killers, at least.

The only really strong licensed killers are Pyramid Head and Freddy, and neither of them are S tier (well, Freddy was, but the nerf put him into A tier where he belongs).

Plus, none of those killer perks you mentioned are really... good. BBQ is decent, though.

Blood Warden is mostly only useful against those dumbfucks who think it's super fun to stay in the exit gates until the last possible second. Plus, it requires you to get a hook, which, in the event that this perk is actually in a situation that it can be powerful, that is a hefty requirement.

BBQ is mostly used for the BP, but the information is undeniably useful. It has counterplay which doesn't require much effort or change to tactics, so I don't see why people complain about it so much. I guess it can't be countered if you're just running around in a dead zone, but you kinda deserve it then. Plus, BBQ is the best anti-tunneling and anti-camping perk in the game, so if anything survivors should appreciate killers running it.

I have no idea what FD is. Maybe you meant Forced Penance. The perk that applies Broken for 80 seconds on a protection hit. That doesn't even sound strong on paper. The fact that the killer is sacrificing a perk slot for a meager effect that has a fairly low chance of actually triggering at all.

Lethal Pursuer is only good on Ghostface. It has no effect on the game after the first ten or so seconds.

The two survivor perks you mentioned are actually fine now. The reason they were so bad before was that the devs were more focused on making the characters feel accurate than be balanced. They later decided to go the complete other way, and overcompensated severely. I mean, be honest, does playing the Executioner make you feel like Pyramid Head, or Nemesis make you feel a Tyrant? I doubt it.

  • @vladspellbinder said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2292348#Comment_2292348

Yeah, he's not the best without some BP in him. As far as "First impressions" go you're not wrong. But I want people to be aware that The Shape is a niche Killer that has a different game play style to other Killers. I, personally, find him really super fun because of how different he plays when compared to other Killers. Playing The Shape is a nice refresh when I get tired of other Killers.

Dead Rabbit is super fun. People always panic about how close you are when they hear the TR, it's great.

    I understand.

Honestly, thank you for contradicting me. In the event that some new player stumbled across this thread, I wouldn't want them to be completely misinformed.

  • @vladspellbinder said:

Maybe you're just playing The Shape wrong? Hear me out.

The Shape is really good for two play styles - Perma T1 via Scratched Mirror or End Game.

In Perma T1 you have constant wall hacks and no TR so it's easy to get grabs or surprise hits. Even in the more open maps once you learn how to navigate the areas to not be seen you can get hits and grabs on totally in-the-open generators. It's a hard playstyle to adjust to compared to other Killers, the slowness alone is often quite painful, but once you get it down it is very satisfying.

On an end game build your goal isn't to get to T3 as early and as often as you can, you use it sparingly. You want out of T1 as soon as possible though, yes. But once out of T1 you stalk to 99 and then wait, getting hits and downs as you go but don't pop T3 until either you have two Survivors together or you have someone healthy who has already been hooked once. In the first scenario you can often easily down one, slug them and chase the other. If they are in a dead zone you've got two people now and even if they are not in a dead zone they are going to make that area a dead zone pretty darn fast to try and slow you down. In the second scenario you get an easy down and will likely get a kill because most Survivors wait out the T3 instead of going for the save, even if you are not camping. If they don't wait it out you can often get a hook trade if you're feeling generous or just stop the unhook.

The Shape CAN be played aggressively, but it is not his strongest kit. His insta-down is not meant to be used like the other insta-down Killers. You need to be more strategic with it, because you have a limited use of it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2292034#Comment_2292034

The big issue that people overlook is that Stalking Survivors from a distance is really bad. You get less Evil Within the further away you are. If you can get right up next to a Survivor, which isn't all that hard in T1, then it only takes a few seconds to get out of T1 and into T2. And if you forego getting a hit you can easily get into your first T3 off of a single Survivor really early. This is without either of the two gain rate add-ons and with them it is even faster.

Another thing most people don't consider if that in T2 you only have a 16 meter TR, this makes it much easier to sneak up on people for Stalk or hits than with other M1 Killers. Also in T2 you vault ever so slightly faster than normal which can really throw off some Survivors if you time it right, especially in Shack. And never underestimate the power of a double vault at an L wall, this is often better than moonwalking because people rarely ever do it so no one really expects it.

The Shape does have an aggressive playstyle that can work when done right but they are better suited to a longer game play style. When playing The Shape you need to be willing to lose three or even all five gens before your first kill but he's a very heavy snowball Killer. Slap on Blood Warden and you can go from a 0k to a 4k out of no where. Won't win you any Gatekeeper points but The Shape is not the Killer to be playing if you want to pip. No insta-down Killer is who you want to be playing if you want to pip.

I didn't have any BP saved when I got him, so I didn't get to play with his strongest add-ons or with any good perks.

I did have a little bit of fun with M&A and Dead Rabbit, though.

  • @SloppyVoldemort said:

Oh okay, I was afraid I missed something like an auric cell discount xD

Ha ha, the devs would never do that. They have to give a good deal of the money they get from Cells to the license holders.

If they sold them at a discount, they would be selling them at a loss.

  • @SloppyVoldemort said:

Was there a sale of the auric cells? :O

No, but all characters from before All KIll are/were half price, with All Kill characters being 25% off.

  • @UncleStabby said:

Utilizing shape's base perks help pick up his slack. STBFL makes him a divebombing nightmare, and PWYF gives him a very useful speed boost. As long as you've learned when to stalk and when to just chase, he's very strong. Only problem is his best addons rely on small maps.

You're spot on with your assessment with Blight.

Oni matches for me are always a slow burn, but he is absolutely the power trip killer of choice.

Also, you spent fifty bucks to get all these killers but... you know the Killer edition is only thirty right?

Well, I didn't just buy killers.

    I also wanted killer skins.

    Specifically the Look-See skin.

Also, I didn't have very much money to spend when I got the game.

Just wanna mention, those two perks are good on pretty much any M1 killer. He gets the most use out of them, for sure, but they're just generally great perks.

  • @AmericanBadass said:

    They so bad.

    Could you elaborate?

  • @Northener1907 said:

Freddy is pretty strong killer. Pallets are fun but snares are him real power and teleporting ofcourse. With good perks, you will get so much 4Ks as him.

I understand that. I want to play with him a bit more in the future, but the low skill ceiling lowers the appeal for me.

I love the ability to come after survivors from completely unexpected angles, but I prefer killers who have a power that changes the gameplay from the basic "M1 killer but slightly different," and his snares and pallets just aren't cutting it for me.

I see the appeal, but Doc with Order and Calm can fill almost any role he can.

If they brought old Freddy back with a couple buffs, I would definitely play him a lot.

I agree it should be wider but we don’t want another huntress situation

I personally think that the hitbox for the tentacle should be slightly smaller than the PoTD hitbox, but that might be a bit big. I really just want a killer that survivors don't hate but is still fun to play.

  • @SilentPill said:

The shape isn’t THAT bad but it is kinda hard to justify him over Bubba these days. You gotta mess around for ~20-30 seconds staring at people where Bubba just has a super strong 1 shot right off the bat.

At the end of the day he still has a 1 shot although Ghostface with Lethal Pursuer just spanks him cause he can get the stealth 1 shot off in the first 15~ seconds of the game.

The fact that he's made completely obsolete by two different killers is kinda egregious.

    He desperately needs a rework.

Sounds to me the problem lies more with Chris then? How would amanda overpower a 25 year old military veteran and former officer of a special tactics force. Or Ghostface. Or Clown. Leatherface is also just a human. How would a mere human stand up against the supersoldier

By your logic it's better to discard Chris then right? Instead of half the killer roster

Cause if this is such a problem then BHVR can't make any killers anymore that aren't some overpowered monstrocity. seems like a lot of creativity going to waste. Better just discard Chris so we don't have to worry about things not making sense in a video game.

Also I've been to knife training. If you are unarmed against someone with a knife who knows how to use it you're always at a risk. Don't care what training you got, how beefed you are or what special forces you belong to. You watch to many movies.

Not to mention that in the games Chris can die to a decomposed corpse biting him. He's not the hero in this game and therefor can't enjoy his usual plot armor.

Whatever you say. A killer that people payed for and enjoy won't be discarded just because you don't like a character you're fangirling over getting killed by them.

Leatherface (Bubba Sawyer): Extreme durability, devotion, and strength (he can swing a chainsaw like it's nothing), and then there's the fact that he always has the hyper-adrenaline rush going due to having no idea of what's going on and being terrified of everything. Oh, and he's armed with a chainsaw. He's borderline superhuman in the end.

Ghostface (Danny Johnson AKA Jed Olson): Advanced intellect (just think for a moment about his add-ons and backstory), years of experience as a serial killer, deep connection to the Entity, and of course, he analyzes his targets' actions and movements specifically to bypass any defenses they could use to impede him.

Pig (Amanda Young): Utilizes victims' stress, fear, and distraction to land lethal blows without resistance. Plus, her sadistic streak and her knowledge of machinery and toxins combined with the opportunities to apply them give her an advantage that can't be discounted.

Clown (Kenneth Chase AKA Jeffery Hawk): Anesthetics and depressants filling your blood, lungs, and brain make it a bit difficult to fight back against an actual athlete with actual decades of experience in indiscriminate murder. Plus, the obvious... weight advantage.

Legion (Frank, Joey, Susie, Julie): Bad at stabbing. Inexperienced. Extremely young. Not all that bright. But they can run pretty fast due to the Entity, so hey!

  • I'm glad that I'm not seeing a lot of Doc here, cause I'm gonna be playing a lot of Look-See until I can get some good perks for the like six killers I just bought.

  • I mean, most people have been waiting for a Resi chapter for a long, long time.

I personally didn't even buy him when he came out. His power isn't fun or powerful enough to justify those ######### perks.

  • I play a good deal of Bubba, but I never camp as him. I find it more fun to use his power offensively. Bubba eats pallets a voraciously as he eats survivors.

Not literally every Bubba is toxic. That's a hasty generalization.

  • @RobynxGrayves said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2286232#Comment_2286232

But we did lol. The game got brightened and we can't hide in bushes anymore. Also had window looping nerfed. Talking and discussing things gets results instead of trying to argue and demean. If you go through comments, others have made very productive comments on how things could be changed, which I wholly agree with. Do you have anything productive to contribute, or are you here for other reasons?

I'm sorry, but that doesn't actually prove your point.

Everyone disliked how dark the maps were, and hiding in bushes is very much still a thing. It just isn't 100% reliable, and a good killer would find you pretty much no matter what anyway.

The nerf to windows only happened because of how easy, safe, and brainless it was to just find a window in a long wall and vault it over and over forever. Plus, god windows are still a thing even after the nerf, even if you have to eventually leave the loop.

Plus, the devs have already said that camping and tunneling are valid tactics with counters that don't require perks.

99ing the gates has no counter other than opening the gates for the survivors, which is, you know, the exact opposite of what the killer wants to do. I guess Blood Warden kinda works, but it's so situational it barely ever triggers if the survivors know what they're doing.

Bodyblocking pretty much always does what it's supposed to (slow down and/or impede the killer), and there isn't a way to counter it unless you've specifically prepared for it, and even then most of the perks that deal with it are worthless. The only exception is Starstruck.

  • @zeplore said:

He uses Ruin/Undying/Pop/Corrupt or some variant of the 3 /w BBQ every game, I don't see how his opinion could be valued the slightest. That goes for others that do the same.

    You're joking, right?

Saying that killers that run those perks shouldn't have their opinions valued is like saying survivors' opinions shouldn't be valued if they run DS, Unbreakable, Adrenaline, BT, Dead Hard, or Iron Will.

It's the meta. They're run by pretty much everyone and for good reason.

Plus, none of those killer perks you mentioned were broken or toxic in the slightest.

Ruin is some desperately needed slowdown which can and often will be taken out of the game in less than a minute. Undying is just used to reduce the chance of that happening. Pop is often taken as a backup in case that happens, and only as a backup (Ruin makes gens automatically regress, and Pop requires you to kick a gen. You can't kick a gen that's regressing, thus, Pop can't be used while Ruin is up).

Corrupt is slowdown as well, but it only lasts for the first two minutes, and only effects three gens. All it does is guarantee that all the gens aren't done within three minutes.

BBQ is the most non-toxic perk in the entire game. It incentivises leaving the hook by giving the killer some sort of objective to look for (that being a survivor at least 32 meters away), and incentivises it's own use and incentivises not tunneling by giving up to 100% extra BP if you hook every survivor. Plus, it's countered by Sole Survivor, Distortion, and lockers, so it can be avoided if the survivors are clever or prepared.

  • @MrPenguin said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2286247#Comment_2286247

Yeah they are I agree they are survivor sided currently.

Breakable walls are walls that you break, so breakable windows are windows that you break down, otherwise they wouldn't be windows before you break them so they wouldn't be called breakable windows.

If you mean breakable walls that turn into windows that's different.

But in that case killers would just never break them to give the survivors a free window.

    Other than ranged killers.

Maybe the windows couldn't be vaulted through even after they're broken, essentially becoming a breakable half-wall, giving LoS but still restricting movement.

  • She's like Trapper, but she trades 5% of her movement speed for a functional power.

  • Distressing and BBQ on Doc is the absolute best BP build.

Both perks are very, very useful on him already. Plus, it leaves two open slots for Ruin and Undying or Pop and whatever perk you want.

  • @MrPenguin said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2286206#Comment_2286206

Wouldn't those just be survivor sided breakable walls since its only detrimental for the killer? Like, when would it ever be beneficial for a killer to leave the window there. They all would just be essentially pre-dropped god pallets like some of the current walls are.

Breakable walls are also survivor sided. What I mean is some windows being blocked off until the killer breaks them.

    And I said "properly implemented."

  • If we're gonna do that, also add punishments for 99ing the gates and bodyblocking.

Don't want to give up valid tactics that are unfun for killers? Then they shouldn't have to give up valid tactics that are unfun for you.

1 2 3 4 … 24
