Professor Henry Jarrod from House of Wax (although gore would have to be toned down out of respect for Mr. Price).

Thank you, my friend! I've tried my best to come up with a perfect power for Freddy, and I am happy to see you've liked it!

If you or @Dabihwow would like to see it:

    Power: Dream Demon

Pull survivors into the Dream World

-Survivors who are awake do not see The Nightmare.

-Once targeted by The Nightmare’s power, survivors enter the Dream Transition for 7 seconds.

-The Nightmare’s Movement Speed Penalty for putting a survivor into the Dream Transition lasts for 1 second.

-During the Dream Transition Survivors can see The Nightmare intermittently and they suffer from the Incapacitated status effect.

-When the Dream Transition Lapse, the Survivor is pulled into the Dream World.

    Once in the Dream World:

-Survivor’s auras are revealed to The Nightmare when they are outside of his terror radius.

-Survivors suffer an action speed penalty of 40%.

-To exit the Dream World, Survivors can find non-sleeping Survivors to perform a wake up action.

-Failed Generator Skill Checks can also wake up.

    -Hooked Survivors wake up.

    Special Ability: Dream Projection

-Teleport to a Generator in view. Releasing the button early will cancel the action.

-Survivors cannot interact with the targeted Generator.

-For each Survivor in the Dream World, the cool-down of using Dream Projection is reduced by stack-able 20%.

“You have nothing to worry about. This won’t hurt one… little… bit.” -Freddy Krueger

I've never played as Freddy, mostly because I want to express my skill when I choose killers to play, and I wasn't around for old Freddy.

I recently saw Otz play as old Freddy, and I was amazed by the difference. I actually wanted to play that killer.

Bringing back some of old Freddy would be awesome. I might actually get Blood Warden and Fire Up if the killer they came with was actually interesting.

    This is some good stuff.

Assuming this isn't bait, maybe all the killer mains that want a strong killer that's doesn't have bugs that will absolutely loose them a chase, and found out that "oh yeah, everyone plays Spirit, and people hate her, let's go to Blight, people don't hate him."

I mean, Blight still has the bug where he slides off of random objects. But at least he isn't like Nurse where the character is basically all bug all the time.

  • Oh, hey, look, another necroed post.

  • Pretty much any fabric tends to behave like that. I've even seen it on Ghostface, which doesn't seem like it should be possible no matter how much you screw up the coding.

  • During the RE PTB, I was playing as Nemesis on Midwitch. The only survivor left was an injured and contaminated Jill.

I cornered her in a room where her one toxic teammate (as in constant T-bagging and flashlight clicking at every minor victory) had wasted all the pallets.

A zombie walked in through the main entrance to the room, slowly limping towards her. She looked to the nearby window, but there was the other zombie. I blocked the only other way out with my ultrawide HD hitbox.

She started panicking. The zombie was now inches away from her. Then, she realized, with a sense of raw horror:

She was about to become a Jill sandwich.

The game was rigged from the start.

  • Oh hey look, the Billy profile pic is back.

  • Make the colors vibrant enough for it to be actually seen and we have a deal.

  • Yet another reason for everyone to use Blight as the golden, goo-filled standard.

  • Try to have as much of him as close to the center of your screen as possible.

Note that the survivor hitboxes block your "view" of him.

I'm sure that this mechanic was very well thought through.

  • This isn't the kind of game where direct counters should exist.

Players should have to use widely varying strategies that they switch between on the fly instead of doing the same four things over and over and over.

  • My first perk would let me use items faster, at the cost of decreasing the item's efficiency.

My second one would be something like Lucky Break, helping me break chases when I'm injured or when I have a debuff.

My third one would probably be based around shifting aggro onto myself, or maybe shift it onto other survivors.

I'll go check it right now.

  • I can't believe I didn't hear about this before!

  • Claudette with No One Left Behind.

    Wraith with Sloppy.

  • About 3% for each brown add-on, 4% for each yellow, 7% for each green, 10% for each purple, 15% for each iridescent.

    One time.

The rest of them, yeah. I can see where the newest MMR concept build needs a few... adjustments.

  • Why he has one but Slinger doesn't is just completely beyond my reasoning.

His range is so short and his speed is so low that he actually needs that 24 meter TR.

And i dont think it just me, Doctor have most DC games of any killers. Play him for a while, you will see for yourself.

I play Doctor almost exclusively and the vast majority of my games go without a DC. I'd say 9.5/10 of my games finish without a single person having killed themselves on hook or disconnected.

About "badly designed" thing. In this game you can run or hide and player cannot do any of this while playing against him. Hiding against him dont work, and that would be fine alone, but also running away will not work, because he will make any loop useless. There should be one thing or another, not both.

Many killers embody various aspects of horror. The Doctor is made to embody the horror of being powerless. Not being able to run or hide is kind of essential to being powerless. That being said, there is counterplay to Doctor. You can hide in lockers to nullify his Static Blast, or stay out of his terror radius entirely. His shocks can be avoided to some degree, the timings are not easy to master, meaning if you queue up for an action before you've been shocked you'll perform the action anyway.

But i was mostly referring to overloading my screen with noise, flashes and other effects he can apply. Its just too much, waaaaaaay toooo much. Its not scary, not cool, not crazy, just annoying.

He does have a lot of visual effects. Those only play in specific circumstances though, not all the time. They play when you get shocked by any means, when you walk through a fake pallet, and when an illusionary Doctor appears or disappears. That's it. It's also worth mentioning that they toned down his visual effects recently due to complaints like this, which is honestly for the best for a whole host of reasons.

He is badly designed even if you compare him to other killers - wounds from AllKill knives will heal after a while, you can cure yourself from poison or dream at anytime, but madness from doctor will stay whole game no matter what you do.

Yes, Madness doesn't decay passively like it used to. This was most likely done to aid in the simplification of the Madness system. And yes, you cannot rid yourself of the Madness affliction. That would weaken him considerably seeing as all of his addons and many parts of his base kit function at least partially off of Madness. That being said, you can reduce your Madness level from tier 3 to tier 1 by snapping out of it. Not only that, but while you're in tier one you basically don't have madness. All but one of his addons rely on you being in tier 2 or higher, and madness skill checks only have a 1 in 3 chance of triggering in madness one. Madness is very much a mechanic of prevention, not cure.

I was about to comment, but I see this argument has already been taken care of.

  • I don't have any survivor builds, but I have a couple memey killer builds.

I had never listened to any of these songs before, and I found them because I did some searching because I wanted to help Dab find a theme or inspiration for Pinebrook's music.

Melancholia I thought was pretty eerie, but aside from that, a bit generic.

Mind was fantastic in my opinion. I really liked it. It has a very somber, sad, dreadful vibe. It sounds both familiar and distant at the same time.

I really liked both Which Hunt and The Evil Ghost. Just like you said, I also really like industrial horror, hell that's probably why I love The Final Movement (Karl Heisenberg's theme) from RE8 so much.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LeUPS-2mmLI

I actually liked Everything Ends Here. Reflecting on it, it might not be the best theme for Pinebrook, but I still found it enjoyable. As it's title suggests, it feels very climatic.

While I haven't played RE8, or even seen much footage of it for that matter (pretty much just Rowby and Otz playing it on Village of Shadows difficulty), I pretty much immediately fell in love with anything involving Heisenberg, especially the design of the level that leads up to him.

His whole vibe is amazing. He's like Bertrum Piedmont if he were more realistic and was designed with medical horror in mind.

  • The pictures are here. Sorry for the angles, my brother isn't a very good photographer.

    • Boneyard: 3/4/5 additional totems are spawned, and 1/2/3 of them will be lit as though they were hexes. The killer sees the false hexes with white auras. When cleansed, they make the same noise notification as hexes. Side note: Survivors still earn the 1000 “Hex Cleansed” points for cleansing the fake ones.
    • Buried Secrets: All totems are buried under camouflaging dirt piles (or other map-appropriate material) that survivors must dig through before they can see or cleanse the totem. There will be at least 5 additional dirt piles with nothing beneath them. A dirt pile takes 3/4/5 seconds to clear away.

Buried secrets just sounds like better Boneyard.

  • This is clearly the ideal male physique, as was envisioned by Konami.

Behaviour just thought his thiccness was too much for this community to handle.

  • Melancholia: I've heard it before, but it's still neat. The low grade unnervingness of the piece is enjoyable, but it doesn't have much beyond that, at least to me.

Mind: Honestly, I love it. It gives off that 2017 creepypasta vibe that fills me with low level nostalgia, and it feels... raw. Pained and depressed, and a little bit afraid. This just feels so... familiar in so many ways. It's like a liminal image in music form: disturbing and mildly confusing, but not very useful for anything beyond just observation or examination.

Witch Hunt: YES! Maybe it has something to do with listening to the Quake soundtrack over and over again, but horror-industrial is one of my favorite niche genres. With the grinding tones, rampant drops and build ups, it feels like it would fit a trailer so well. The animator/director would have a lot of room to try new ideas to present the core concepts of Pinebrook, although the "town" part of it could easily be lost if they aren't careful.

The Evil Ghost: Oh, wow. This one is even better. You can actually imagine a trailer set to this fairly easily. Or, at least, I can. I would intermittently cut between this, and then to soft country music of some description during the slower parts to fit Pinebrook better.

Everything Ends Here: I can't really see it in it's current state. If the build up was a bit faster at the start or if it had more calm parts, it would be great though.

Thanks for sharing this stuff with us. I personally would never have found most of these on my own.

It was always merciless. They just changed what merciless means around Plague's release, and no one really understands why.

Maybe they thought it would reduce the level of sweat if killers knew that their success wasn't based entirely on kills.

I mean, that sounds like a reason obtuse enough for the devs.

This should never be a solution to something that's part of base gameplay. Perks should be there to amplify certain aspects of the game, not to make up for a lack of a built-in solution. There needs to be a solution to camping that does not rely on something special. This is a sign of bad design. I'm not saying make DS baseline or anything, but there needs to be at least a single option to counter it without needing perks.

Yes! Finally, someone who gets it!

Honestly, this applies to both sides. You shouldn't be basically forced to bring anti-slug, anti-camp, or anti-tunnel perks as survivor and slowdown perks as killer. Weirdly enough, thinking about it, I'm not sure which side has it worse.

Survivors need more kinds of perks, but they have a more solid meta and most of the perks they need at the start are on the free survivors. Killers, however, almost need slowdown perks to function on a base level and need to buy pretty much all of them, but they only need to bring, like, one.

(BHVR:) Yea, you can go screw yourself for playing adept level 10 doctor at red ranks, clutching it out and getting 3 kills at 1 gen left. Ontop of the kill you already had. Should've just performed better. Kicked one more gen. Maybe get a 5k next time?

(Even though I got max points in all categories it decided to give me golden gatekeeper)

On a real note, it is extremely unfair to literally kill all survivors, clutch the 4k against good teams (multiple times I might add), have max bps in all categories, and still not get adept even though I did everything correctly and made no mistakes. I should totally be rewarded for that. Its like the game is just spitting in your face for all the hard work you've done. But nope, you can have nothing and like it. Even though I had to sweat super hard and play like a dick (which I dont like doing) to win. I apologize in every end game chat for playing like that, yet I don't get the adept so it wasnt worth it whatsoever. How else am I supposed to win if i'm not tunneling one person out of the game? Its red ranks. Gens go by like crazy. It's not like I can have game delay, cause, you know. Adept. On the other hand, survivors can literally just escape and get adept. There is literally no reason for killer adept to be so hard to get at red ranks. Or in general. Just change the requirement to something simple like; Get 4 kills in a single match using ____'s unique perks. I have tried 2 games so far, 4ked both, gotten max bloodpoints, and yet, the game doesn't want to give me iridescent gatekeeper because i'm 3 genning rather than defending all gens. Its complete BS.

Literally 31,500 bloodpoints and still no adept. Great game design.

Is adept even supposed to be THAT challenging? I got almost all my survivor adepts at rank 1 solo queue on my first attempt. Survivor adepts are so easy compared to (red ranks) killer adept. It's probably way easier at lower ranks, but man is this stupid.

Thanks for letting me rant. Good day. Feel free to leave your opinions below.

Your username doesn't seem very fitting, given that you tend to feel sorry for playing like a dick.

Also, yeah, killer Adepts suck. The only one I have is for Wraith.

Why would you think that? Because it sure as ######### ain't true.

I've been waiting for someone to ask that!

I'm overly critical and overtly argumentative, and I'm eager to point out minute details for the sake of stroking my own ego as much as actually helping the person I'm criticizing. I also tend to pretend to have authority when my only qualification is personal experience. Plus, I tend to make passive aggressive remarks in the end game chat if I didn't have a good game, which contributes to the overall toxicity of the community. And I'm an edgelord if you couldn't tell by some of my comments.

It actually is the trailer song for a game that is Call of Cthulhu

I was vaguely aware of that, but CoC is a cosmic horror game, and cosmic horror is the complete opposite of psychological horror.

In cosmic horror, any knowledge and/or progress gained brings you closer and closer to destruction, and there's more focus on investigation into the "true nature" of reality, which often means that everything the characters care about is meaningless. Madness and fear are secondary to despair, helplessness and awe. The main disadvantage of cosmic horror is that characters are deemphasized or rendered meaningless, and nothing can be resolved by the end because humanity is so helpless and feeble.

In psychological horror, learning more about the characters is the name of the game. The idea is to provide a harrowing emotional experience through the use of... well, people. In psych horror, you can actually have a world that is an actual garbage fire, or be completely uncreative, because that isn't what matters at all. Negative emotions of any kind are central to the genre, and to the stories in the genre. The main disadvantages of psychological horror are mostly how unusual and difficult it is to work with.

I'm not saying your music is a bad choice, and I'm not changing my stance, I'm just explaining that music that works best for an investigative cosmic horror game with survival horror elements is slightly less effective for a psychological horror/ survival horror game.

I like it, but I'm just saying that it would need some extra help to capture the identity of the game that we've established so far. I'm sure you could put Fur Elise to a FPS trailer and still capture the essence of the game, but it would need some extra help from the animators and such.

Ow... my ears, its damn well disturbing. it wouldn't be the main theme for Pinebrook. I would imagine this music playing in the dark realm of Pinebrook, which fits perfectly. I actually wrote a moment where a character listens to a very chilling song I found. I'll link it for you. Anyway I might do a remix version of the song, copyright issues and all. But that's just me thank you though, I'll consider it

    link:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhAGfp4DIbY

Huh. That definitely suits Pinebrook better. It wouldn't be the best for a full trailer though (if/when the game comes out), but it could easily work if you got someone good enough.

I picked the song I did because it would be a bit easier to show off the unnerving, painful, violent, semi-surreal nature of Pinebrook with a lot less effort.

  • I just found the music for the Pinebrook release trailer while I was waiting on the people with cameras to wake up. Just add a bit more abrasive warning klaxon noises mentally.

  • @Dabihwow said:

So @Beelzeboop this might be a rude awakening. And I don't want to make it some wake-up call or anything. But I looked back on the old design of FurnaceHead you drew. I actually drew a drawing using your image. I'll leave a link to the drawing for you.

In short, the black lines show you needing or rearranging some of the things for example when I meant by extending the flaps I drew lines down to the legs. There is an additional line that runs across it horizontally, its also like this in the back. That line across it horizontally is actually remnants of a belt, that Furnace head stretched. The box around the chest area is the metal piece I asked for, in the center is an opening to his fiery body, so it's like an actual furnace symbolizing /showing the fiery anger within. Now The box around his arm is actually a strong belt loop.

In short, what he is wearing is remnants of an already torn full-body straight jacket that's been burned, ripped, and torn. I also put a black hole over the mouth, I actually kinda want it covered.

I drew a redline that is basically that part of him tends to have more clothing and show the straight jacket sleeves that are charred and burnt on the ends. When I mentioned cracks in the skin, this is what I meant. I was growing through the web of scary crap to use and came across a disease called the harlequin baby disease, which googles in your spare time. Those same cracks like the skin are peeling away from the heat, I cut it because of too much work and detail for a single character, plus I feared being called out by social media if I show them this fact.

I love what you have done already regardless, but now that I have a broader idea of what I'm looking for and understanding symbolism a bit I wanted to make Furnace Head appearance represent that too.

SYmbolism: The straight jacket aspect is to symbolize how it feels when we don't use our anger, we feel trapped, chained, like a dog on a leash. It's maddening, we want to break free, to vent that frustration. The wear and tear are to show that the anger is beginning to show, the beast has been unleashed if you will. This was the Furnace Head I imagined, but if you already go ahead and continue my apologies, I don't want to add any pressure at all because you've done enough for me already.

Just... the only emotion I can really say this inspires is... horror. Sheer horror that people are actually like this. That they can be like this.

I haven't been here for very long, and I don't know all the context, but... that kind of behavior is absolutely inexcusable. I always try to look at the circumstances someone was in when they did something evil, to try to see if there was something that excuses the offence. You know, trying to see it from any perspective other than "This is a terrible person," since most people aren't actually as awful as their actions would present.

But it's just not working here. The absolute lack of any sort of sympathy or self awareness required to say those things to literally anyone, let alone you of all people...

I'm sorry, I should stop ranting like a child now. Just know that I sympathize with you, even if I can't really relate enough for that sympathy to be truly meaningful beyond a superficial level.

I'm gonna go vomit now... Jesus...

  • I don't think it should be nerfed.

I think it should be reworked entirely. It's as outdated as Myers, but it's gotten stronger with time as opposed to weaker.

  • Fun fact: It's actually fairly difficult to end up in a situation where using a key wouldn't help all of the remaining survivors, even if you are deliberately trying to engineer a situation where using a key would be entirely selfish.

The exception, obviously, is just stealthing around until the hatch spawns.

Keys may be a bit unfun.

  • Scourge of the Purge.

  • @Ghost_Face_Main said:

Just because Ghost Face got an event skin doesn't necessarily mean the same goes for the other licenses. That all depends on the flexibility and demands of the IP owners, which clearly shows that Ghost Face is the most flexible licensed killer given all of his cosmetics.

Every original killer has a Blight event skin except for Oni, Deathslinger, Twins and Trickster. These four would be the obvious candidates for future Blight skins.

If we're to get cosmetics for Laurie and The Shape, I hope we finally get different masks, coveralls, or even weapons. Michael is in desperate need of a model update anyway.

Myers needs some animation reworks as well. His mori, at least from the killer's perspective, looks extremely janky.

To answer OP, I would love a Blighted Nemesis skin.

  • Ghostface is the only killer with actual stealth and Undetectable on command with no warnings.

  • I played against Moundshroud once and Mushwin one other time.

I didn't really realize at the time, though.

  • If you don't have Blight, get him. He is fun, strong (S tier strength), and balanced. He's also super fast. He has a fairly strong learning curve, but the fun factor alone will generally keep you going until you're good at him. At least, so I've heard. I personally don't have him yet.

Bubba is a good second choice. His power doesn't have much of a learning curve and can be fairly powerful in the right situations. Plus his perks are all... decent. BBQ & Chili is a must-have for new killers, or experienced killers who don't want to grind for several hours to get through one level of the Bloodweb. Franklin's Demise pretty much counters items in general. Knockout isn't very good, but can be useful on Ghostface or Pig if you don't want to use her power.

Myers is also good, more for his perks than for his power. He's designed to make you actually feel like Michael Myers, but he gets genrushed very, very easily. He has some good perks though, with no real other equivalent.

  • It would be like Slinger but without reeling you in and without the range limitation.
