  • This is great lmao.

I love these snowmen so much, they're so fun. They bring out some face campers too I noticed, but I'm still having a blast.

Something particularly hilarious is watching a snowman slowly climb up a hill to unhook you.

  • Nerfed Deathslinger finally offers something unique to Huntress - the ability to bypass snowman armor.

    Huzzah.

  • Not gonna lie, this snowman event has unlocked a lot of silly potential for me in regards to this game.

Bring on the bikinis, give me foam fingers, introduce the scooby gang, and more - I'd love that.

It being a party game is your belief. No one else is forced to accept that or believe it. Please understand that.

The competitive scene is full of cheaters (stretch res), there's no real rewards for rank, MMR is based solely on results instead of performance, and high level balance play is purposely skewed to one side. The reaction to all of that from the developers has been a range of emotions from "go play something else if you're frustrated" to "we want to let people troll around in games" into "i dont particularly care about winning or losing myself when i play."

I'm hard pressed to find anything that suggests this game's more competitive than, say, Mario Party, other than its generally darker atmosphere.

    ---

But you're right, no one has to believe it. I like seeing player's passion anyway.

  • TheMen.jpg TheMen3.jpg TheMen2.jpg

Better not mess with the boys in their neighborhood.

    Susie learnt the hard way.

  • I love the varied reactions from killers to snowmen.

Some adamantly refuse to hurt our frozen friends, others laugh, and then there's always at least a few that rage facecamp if you ever touch one once.

I got injured early in a game, jumped into a snowman and was shaking my head "no, no, no" to them hitting me. I guess I transgressed, because they hit me, downed me immediately after, and then just sat there for 1.5 minutes hitting my body on a hook shaking their head "no, no, no" back. Hilarious times.

Which means you and the Devs have something sadly in common then.

    You're both jokes.

    Truth.

My post history is 90% jokes, and I'm lovin' every minute of it.

Interactive for who? Fun for who?

Go on. It's DAMN sure not Killer.

It's a party game. If you aren't having fun, go play something else.

If you think my words are dismissive, uncaring to your needs, and ignorant to one side of the game's fun, just remember that I'm re-using the literal words and mindset that the owners and developers of this game have used towards player-based frustrations for years.

    ---

Best to just buckle up and learn to laugh, or go play Civilization.

  • This event is silly, fun, innovative, interactive and pushes the creative boundary of DBD. It might get old eventually, but it's a temporary event, so I'm happy to see they took a chance by trying something bold. I definitely feel re-invigorated to play this game, and have been having so much fun.

To anyone who has balance complaints or is having difficulty enjoying this event, while I might regret saying this one day, I want to be selfish and inconsiderate about this. Frankly, I don't give a damn about it.

I hope they continue to try new and fun things like this, especially during events.

  • I'm harsh on the devs for a lot of things, some which might even be considered as acting unfairly towards them.

That said, the event's a blast and hilarious if you can learn to just relax and have fun with it. Forget the balance aspect and try to enjoy the ride.

Really proud of the team for this xmas event, great job.

    ---

Remember: DBD is a party game - treat it as such.

  • First ever game playing with this snowmen patch was on Midwich just now.

Literally roamed the halls as a snowman, chasing down a survivor who was trying to heal but was desperately afraid of me and kept running like I were a zombie.

Then I was body blocking the window vaults and doorways as a snowman, only to end the game waiting at the exit gate as one before running out. When I realized the snowman disguise ate a fully Hillbilly chainsaw no problem, I had so much fun.

    ---

Probably annoying for the killer, but I'm embracing my inner survivor side right now so idc.

Most fun I've had in this game in awhile.

Oh, they are not real snowmen, they are inflatable ones!

Blow-up snowmen with holes to enter inside them with?

Oh God, I just know I have to avoid a certain subreddit more than usual this winter.

  • Like others have said, hiding is fine in general.

That said, I do think there should be something that discourages excessive lengths of hiding via walking and crouching through the introduction of a new mechanic.

This mechanic can be called "dummy thicc," and will work as follows:

"If you walk or crouch around without interacting with anything for x seconds, your ass cheeks begin to clap. This alerts killers within y distance of your position."

The distance the clapping can be heard will vary for each survivor, which Jane obviously having the highest sound radius.

  • "Everything is worth what the purchaser will pay for."

People spend thousands of dollars on collector cards, NFTs, and more examples that, if mentioned, will offend somebody here eventually. We're already way passed the point of questioning the logic of people who pay for superficial objects.

I'd say embrace it, and let them support the game in your stead as you save for an early retirement or whatever is worthwhile for you.

  • I'm serious, better event than Halloween by far.

Which is weird, because I thought Halloween was supposed to be the main event of the year.

  • It's a party game, do what you want.

As long as you aren't cheating, I doubt it bothers anyone.

Heck, even cheating is acceptable to some.

  • I love info myself, so this is awesome to see.

I've been steering away from this many info perks nowadays though, simply because I found I started to understand tile placements, gen/totem/item spawns, etc after using it for so long.

Really fun build though for sure.

  • I use Bond to actively body block and protect my teammates in solo queue after they've been hooked at least once, to help split the hooks up.

  • I think it's pretty strong still, but that a lot of people who run it don't understand how to use it.

Ideally, you should be running in a straight line when you get hit to maximize distance then either attempt to cut off the chase via hiding or by planning a w-hold route that's as time wasting as possible.

With that in mind, the biggest benefit to running this perk is when you either:

    • Go to the edge of the map to eat an M1 prior to getting hit to ensure you have ample room to run straight to the other side of the map
    • Run towards a Shadow Step boon (especially if you use the perk), or otherwise have Lucky Break to make tracking difficult

    ---

Instead, I typically see people who run this perk running towards nearby loop tiles after being hit or run towards the middle of the map desperately looking for loops to avoid the initial hit. With the former, they're wasting the extra time the perk gave them by waiting at a tile. With the latter, where they run to the middle of the map, they often put themselves in positions where they can't utilize the full w-hold benefits.

The biggest hurdle I think people need to get over when using this is realizing that this perk is about cutting loses instead of preventing them. Plan where and when you want to get injured, then tank the hit with a straight-line route or hiding spots in mind. In that way, the extra distance is pretty powerful in doing that.

  • Artist and Ghost face.

Though, I'm enjoying survivor way more than either lately.

  • Cease and desist, foul plebeians.

Thou dysfunctional processes in relation to the sensitive nature of thy teetering scale prove insensitive to the appeals of the unfaltering masses.

  • I enjoyed him primarily for his stealth gameplay, and the fun in doing instant trick shots with him.

They removed what made him fun, so I just don't like to play him anymore.

  • Since quite a few already said "play both sides" out the whazoo, I'll recommend:

Understanding the scoring system to farm blood points effectively, especially as a survivor.

    ---

Seriously, the bloodpoint grind is stupidly bad right now, so understanding how to get a lot of bloodpoints (especially as survivor) is very beneficial.

Without going into detail, to make a lot of bloodpoints (BP) as survivor, focus on doing things as a team rather than doing things yourself. Do generators with someone else, run chases with people, be altruistic, etc. Most of your Bloodpoint gains come from co-operative actions with someone else instead of doing things on your own.

    ---

Note, however, that doing things on your own is a great way to learn to play and actually more efficient for actually winning the game. Your points will suffer with this independent play though, because for some reason efficient survivor play is punished with poor point gains.

  • Beachball hatchets that magically hit you behind objects while not touching your visible character model are pretty annoying.

    Otherwise I don't mind Huntress.

I've tried playing survivor, but I just find the role...boring?

It's so static and doesn't really change game to game or even with different perk combinations - at least not much.

    That's fair.

It is quite boring if you do gens, my main suggestion was to have a build and play-style that just has you bullying killers by running around them constantly and preventing them from downing people.

It's surprisingly fun and lucrative to bully (no teabags though).

  • Understanding and fun read.

Whenever you come back, try survivor. It's much more enjoyable of a role I find. Especially when you run builds like Bond, Mettle of Man, Boon: Circle of Healing, and We're Gonna Live Forever. You'll be raking in 40-60k BP per game easily without even needing to survive.

Just don't solo gens. Instead, run around and body block the killer, take a hit, run back to your boon to heal and repeat. I only learned recently that you can proc Mettle of Man multiple times per game, which is hilarious when you pull it off.

The best part is you don't even need good solo queue team mates for this.

    ---

Renounce the art of murder, and join me on the dark side as a current survivor main.

  • I love Artist and think she's fine where she's at, but she does suffer from something that more killers are suffering from lately.

WHY THE HECK IS MY POWER REPEL BUTTON BOUND TO MY GEN BUTTON!?

Sorry for the caps, but it is getting EXTREMELY frustrating to be unable to customize my keys how I want to. It is VERY uncomfortable to run around holding M1 if I use the default settings, and literally impossible if I leave my gen key bound to F (which I heavily prefer) You know you have a ######### game design flaw when your consumer's only options is to either play under uncomfortable or downright impossible keybind settings.

I have a lot of problems with this game but after all these years, this crap with the keybindings is finally getting to me. I literally can't repel birds or break pinhead chains in a chase, and am getting really worried what else the future will hold for me.

    ---

    Do better, BHVR.

This is not an issue that should exist for 5 years. No way you'd ever deserve the "Labor of Love" award like this.

  • Survivor: Exhaustion perks in general

    Killer: NOED

    ---

Worth noting is that I'll still use Balanced Landing as an exception to my "No Exhaustion Perks" rule. This is because I actually really enjoy the plays you can make with reduced stagger times and especially reduced grunting noises when landing.

I wish they'd make a falling perk similar to balanced landing, but without the sprint burst attached to it. This way I could follow my rule more closely, and the stagger/grunt reduction effects wouldn't be canceled out by exhaustion-based perks or killer abilities.

  • The only picture that matters to me is Dwight.

I was impartial to the model rework, but Dwight's new profile picture is actually a big flop and deterrent for me. I really dislike it.

For perspective, I've mained Dwight as my primary survivor since 2016. After seeing that image, I actually considered maining Mikaela instead. While I'm staying with Dwight still, I'm probably going to make Mikaela my alternative survivor and a secondary main at this rate; after all, she has a pointy witch hat.

But seriously, I don't ditch or expand my main roster very often nor very easily. The fact I'm considering it should reflect my disappointment in his new profile picture.

  • Oh holy, I just overlooked this entirely.

Snowmen, and you even jump on them? Is this a new animation?

So this Christmas event so far gives:

    • 500 auric cells (worth 1-2 skin parts)
    • 1 million BP
    • 4500 iri shards (worth 1-2 skin parts)
    • 60 rift fragments
    • Giant snowmen (idk what they do yet, if anything)
    • A new interaction animation
    • Incentives to log in and play each day

    And the Halloween one gave:

    • 666,666 bloodpoints one-time
    • Hidden pumpkins that did nothing
    • A candle on a gen
    • re-used assets
    • Expiring add-ons and offerings that you lost BP and took away from the big one-time BP gift
    • 2 skins

    Did I miss anything?

    ---

I'm not saying the Christmas event is over-the-top amazing, but it feels more present, relevant, and overall nicer imo. I really want to say it's better than the Halloween event.

Which is odd, since it was supposed to be their bigger event I thought.

But I guess I won't know for sure until the event hits us anyway.

It's definitely you. A mini-rift of challenges and additions to the base game is definitely more of an event than a daily rewards calendar.

A mini-rift using re-used tome assets and could be completed by just playing the game normally, and a pumpkin that, when kicked (using the re-used kicking animation for victor and gnomski), did effectively nothing. Then there's the barely-noticable aesthetic improvements to generators and hooks in the form of a single candle and maybe some vines.

Then the BP rewards were a flat 666,666 and BP from special gens/hooks. The problem here is, unless you used all the offerings and add-ons in your bloodweb effectively, you were probably spending more than you gained from the latter.

So, to me, the grand Halloween event was just a couple of skins with re-used assets and a near non-existent promotion of interactivity between users.

    ---

Meanwhile Christmas here gives you shards, way more bloodpoints, and even auric cells.

The calender is also simple, but at least it's something commonly associated with the holiday and promotes you to do something (logging in) that the Halloween event didn't even encourage because it just gave you a one-time flat BP bonus that got widdle away by expiring add-ons and offerings that you were forced to buy.

The pumpkins might be holiday related, but they were tucked in niche corners, barely visible, and even their treats weren't worth going for.

  • @bm33 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2671121#Comment_2671121

During the event there will be earnable cosmetics.

How do you get the auric cells with prime gaming?

You need a prime account for amazon, hook up to your twitch account, and then hook twitch up to your DBD account.

There's guides online for the exact process, if you search up "how to link amazon prime to twitch." Then there's options in your account on twitch to hook up games.

I'd detail here but I forgot the process honestly since it's been so long since I've done it.

  • Am I crazy or does this simple winter calender feel more like an event than the Halloween event we had?

It's simple, and there's no skin rewards that I know of, but it kind of feels nice to have periodic rewards in the form of a well-known holiday calender.

Maybe I'm just too bitter about the Halloween event due to failed expectations though.

    ---

    Also for anyone not aware:

There's apparently a twitch prime gaming dbd collab going on for free 500 auric cells. And yes, I'm treating this as part of the Christmas event.

    Something I've noticed

Pretty much every loop and pallet connects

This is something that I noticed as well that kinda scares me on the new map.

I've literally had a pallet spawn in front of the shack door without a pallet. I'm not even kidding, it was 3m away from that door. And there was quite a few other areas with pallets next to each other over all the times I've been on that map already. I might actually start taking screen shots of the ridiculous ones I find.

Luckily I'm obsessed with Carmina, who doesn't care about pallets much. But still, kinda terrifying for M1s

  • You forgot about the hackers, the lackluster report system, the DDoS issue...

I'd say more, but the list - it is too long!

    ---

    Edit:

I'll be fair and say they did give me Carmina, however.

    Ahh, Carmina.

  • I agree. That's why I run Play With Your Food on him.

I wouldn't mind something else for him that isn't a conditional perk though.

  • @lovemeplz said:

Yeah same everytime i trow my power the scream make it sound like i just injure a survivor.

This is off topic a bit but did any of you hear when the crow is close to dissapear you can hear the same sound has nurse blink bug

That's true, it does kind of sound like that old Nurse audio glitch when you charge your second blink.

I haven't played Nurse in years and totally forgot it lol I don't remember if the sound is exact, but it is pretty similar too.

  • Surprisingly, I did just face people who got major value out of this perk for real tonight despite my earlier joke.

They set the boon up in RPD, in an office near the library on the second floor. Then they just stood by the boon and let me down them.

I couldn't snuff out the boon because they made me down them on top of it and the "pick up" prompts were overriding it, but I couldn't pick anyone up because I couldn't make it to a hook from there. So they'd just wiggle out on repeat and go back on top of the boon.

If I left them alone, they'd revive and do gens on that side of the map until they heard my terror radius, in which case they ran right back up.

It was just kinda obnoxious tbh.

    ---

But I guess that's mainly RPD and the 5-year lack of proper key binding options for you.

  • I definitely hear Claudette's screams myself, but slightly altered.

And healing sounds in the new map randomly just outside the main building.

I feel like there's some re-used assets for sure.

  • New map is kinda big, but the aesthetics are enough that I'll forgive it.

    It has birds.

  • Perfect killer. Amazing. 10/10. Make more of her, thanks.

She has scouting, sniping, 1v4, anti-loop, and she's related to birds. I can't imagine a better killer for me. It has been an absolute blast playing her tonight, and I can't believe how fun this game is again.

Discordance or Tinkerer procs nearby? Send a crow and walk over for a free swarm on arrival (meaning potential damage on next crow if I hit it).

Discordance or Tinkerer proc far away? Send two crows spaced ~20m apart to get a free damage state on them if they aren't paying attention to the crow's aura.

Annoying loop? Prep a crow over the pallet for a free hit, OR behind a wall if they can run away. Doing a hit behind a wall can confuse them into staying, and even though it only gets you a swarm, that's still potential for an easy hit in 5 seconds with the next one.

Multiple people around you, or objectives to focus on? Crow one side, hit the other.

Survivor holding W? Snipe them or recon gens as you chase until you find a new opening.

    ---

She has so many options, and making the correct decisions feels beyond amazing.

She feels so rewarding to play well and I love it. Even if I lose, I still have fun.

  • You should never really chase someone who's holding W unless you're confident in your snipes. If you want a chaser, play a chase killer.

Carmina requires you to snipe with her power, one crow at a time.

The cooldown on her power is 5 seconds for one crow, 9 seconds for two, and 12 for three. The crows take 9 seconds to repel. The only way you're damaging people with her power is by single crow sniping, or loop set ups.

Also worth noting is the survivor invinc frames between crow hits is 0.75 seconds. You can do a nasty set up where you get a free injure full map away if you space two crows out at a generator probably. Loving tinkerer on her for that reason.

  • Survivors objective: Generators

    Killers objective: Survivors

The only difference between the two is one whines more and is harder to do.

If you wanna be tunneled less, the game pacing issues need to be resolved without using bandaid perk fixes like this game has done for 5 years. Considering the devs took 5 years to change the hatch mechanic, I don't think they're capable of any changing any core mechanics for the better (not in the next decade anyway).

  • I NOTICED THAT TOO!

I kept looking for healing survivors and thinking I was crazy. Glad I'm not alone

  • I like to think that Pinhead can't speak because he came too much and his mouth is just so full he can't talk anymore.

It's a bit disturbing, but since the license holders clearly had it removed because they didn't like people making fun of his "I came" line, I thought they'd appreciate that theory.

  • I'm sorry to hear that.

I love birds personally, and am surrounded by them every day. So this killer made me super happy.

Hope you get over your fear one day, they're amazing companions and animals when you get to know them.

    ---

Though, I have been bitten quite a few times and can admit they can hurt a bit lol

  • I faced survivors who got a quick revive with it.

I mean, I purposefully left him on the ground and also purposefully ignored the boon beside him. But I mean, he did get value.

Well Done your probably pc player with access to ptb. I'm console and just started with her

True that I'm PC, but I never touched her in ptb due to the DDoS scare.

I can't imgaine how aiming is on console, but I do think her current capabilities are really good to the point I wouldn't buff her (for PC at least).
