@BadMrFrosty Well, after the initial 30 seconds of grace, they'll start to enter partial sleep again. As Peanits stated, if you hit them they are drawn into full sleep. So, it's 90 seconds if you don't hit them. Otherwise, if you find them after that 30 seconds grace, whack them and they're asleep, thus canceling the other 60 seconds.

That still seems incredibly excessive. I mean, you can't hit every survivor at a rate consistent enough to keep them all in the dream (and they have 3 fairly simple ways to get out of it, thus turning you into M1 man again). They might not even have much of a reason to wake up anyway since, y'know, the traps don't seem overly strong thus far.

If seeing good players do well and the stats reflecting that doesn't do it for you, I'm not sure what to say. You're ruling out both anecdotal evidence and statistics. The only thing left beyond that in feelings. To give a direct comparison, his kill rate is only a few percentage lower than the nurse (at rank 1, on PC).

Which players, if you don't mind naming them, are saying that Ghostface is red rank material? I'm actually curious here.

  • @Tzeentchling9 said:

@ceridwen309 Clocks actually wake you up and you don't start falling asleep again for another 30 seconds. So, if you use a clock, that's 90 seconds until you are fulling asleep again.

Can we just make killers skins like survivors? Scrap their powers and let them only M1? I mean, we're getting there. 90 seconds..................................................... Nanithefk

  • @Peanits said:

In the past week alone, Ghost Face has maintained a very high kill rate at rank 1 (above 70%). The changes made during the first hotfix were, as mentioned, very minor and did not have a notable impact on his kill rate. We're still keeping an eye on him, but between looking at the stats and watching experienced players, he's anything but weak right now.

Every player who's actually good at the game whenever the "but the stats say..." meme is perpetuated by Peanits:

the developers clearly care about their game

you can disagree with their decisions, but their attempts to be transparent and regularly update their game with bug and balance fixes indicates that they obviously care. i don't think vilifying them like this is constructive

When baffling ignorance is consistently presented regardless of available information and feedback, people tend to turn toward assuming malicious intent. I get where they're coming from.

  • See, what's interesting about the whole "we haven't tested it yet" argument is that it does hold water in most cases. Typically before you judge something, you give it a fair shake and then drop an opinion. Thing is, going by past history and current killer trends, especially with all the information we have available about new Freddy, he doesn't fit the bill for what makes a killer strong at a high level of play.

    • His map pressure tool is telegraphed and has a 45 second cooldown base with a 3 - 4 second activation time (cooldown only reduced by the number of survivors asleep).
    • His dream snares have a short range and an arming time so they can't be used on the fly in a chase (they're also super obvious). The slow from these has to be significant for them to be even usable, let alone strong.
    • The 'fake pallets' thing is pretty gimmicky, and why it's not part of his base kit is beyond me.
    • 60 seconds to fall asleep passively is most of a generator. Too long.
    • 3 ways to wake up with only one of them having a diminishing effect (teammate wake up).
    • There is no real disadvantage to being asleep other than "Freddy becomes a trap-based clown." I think we all know how amazing clown is. >.>''

Right now he's sounding like he'll be massively add-on dependent, like most of the roster (bad design). Ultimately, he's still an M1 killer, and there is a very simple, easy tactic that can be utilized to deal with anyone that fits that profile.

  • I think the developers care about their game. I just don't think they care about balancing it properly.

  • Usually I'd make a discussion post for people to give input regarding the changes and discuss how viable the killer is at a high level of play. Since BVHR doesn't read those threads or doesn't care (likely both), I won't bother. I will say this, though: new Freddy will not be viable at high level play unless his add-ons are ridiculously powerful. He'll be mid tier at best with all the red tape they've put on his abilities.

  • @DoubleTap said:

Stealth mechanics as fun as they may be just don't work in an environment where 'gen rushing' is a thing. You just can't afford to take your time, plan your trajectory by finding a good flank position to sneak up on Survivors when you have to rush everywhere in a panicked effort to try and slow down the gen pop fest.

This makes complete and total sense. Too bad the developers tend to ignore posts like this.

  • I just make up ######### to do to keep my sanity going in this game. Just do random achievements or something. Here's one I'm trying right now (it's even loreful if you're into that kind of stuff):

Squeaky Toy: As the Doctor, down all 4 survivors with Feng Min on your shoulder.

This also helps get the achievement "Heavy Burden."

  • All in all, down votes didn't bother me. If someone wanted to explain why they disagreed with me, cool. If they chose not to and opted for the easy 'click n' go' option of a down vote, that's fine too. Just because someone doesn't agree with me doesn't suddenly make them my ultimate nemesis. We just have different opinions, and you know what? That's A-OK! : )

  • @KillermainBTWm8 said:

Why? The downvote button became meaningless really quick. Some people would just go and click the downvote button on every single post on the thread. Others would legit go and stalk people and spam them with hundreds of downvotes and that means extra work for the mods to find who is abusing it. There were those few niche situations where it did what it was supposed to and that was usually when the person had an absurd amount of downvotes on one post. As for the upvote button being abused please name me a scenario where someone stalked someone to upvote them hundreds of times or upvoted everyone in the thread.

I'm a merciful senpai and would've noticed them if I had known who they were. : (

  • I dislike any cosmetic that is purely comedic. Cause, y'know, horror and all that.... I know it's an action game, leave me alone. -_-

That said, Wraith's new cosmetic is very well done.

  • @Dragonredking said:

    "Abused"

The downvote button literaly did nothing

the upvote button can be "abused" as much as the down one are you also going to get ride of it?

We don't handle logic well around these parts. Back off, partner. Spits.

  • I won't lie, I'll kinda miss my private fan club of one person who would follow me around in every post and ensure I got at least one down vote, regardless of the content of the post itself. BVHR takes everything I love away from me. Bigsad

  • Depends how you're asking the question.

Is nurse overpowered compared to a majority of the cast? Yes (but let's be real, the bar was pretty low for that to begin with).

Is nurse overpowered in the context of what this game is meant to be? No.

  • A werewolf (picture below for style of appearance) - chase specialist that starts in a more human-ish form. Killer builds rage over the course of a match - engaging in chases, being stunned, blinded, breaking pallets, and hitting survivors fills up a meter. Once the meter is full, the player can opt to transform into their bestial form, gaining massive buffs across the board to movement speed and all action speeds - gains a new charge attack that immediately puts hit survivors into the dying state.

    werewolf-02.jpg

  • He's a mediocre killer with an inconsistent mechanic (for both sides) that makes him unsatisfying to play as and play against. Just meh, overall. He's there for variety, not viability. At least his bags are top tier.

  • @Gardenia said:

Why are you all fighting change so much? He could be better than current Freddy, I doubt they would put so much effort into reworking his power just for him to be worse than what he is currently.

Are you, good sir, implying that BVHR wouldn't repeat a horrendously stupid mistake? HO HUM.

  • The current killer adept achievements. These suck with the system as it is.

  • I think I am going to sound like one of those obnoxious whiners, but I think my luck has now died out in this game, especially as survivor.

As ######### as it is to get tunneled/camped to death, the real problem here is that it actually works way more than it should. Your team, for some reason.. even at red ranks, is allergic to doing generators. If they just did them and left, it'd sting a lot less dying either way. It sucks dangling on the hook for the entirety of your experience, but honestly, there is a bit of hope if your team is packing the right perks (killer pending).

I'm on my survivor rotation at the moment, and one thing I'll say for sure is that the quality of survivor has dropped lately. I'm not even claiming to be a great survivor, but god damn if this week hasn't been a sign that I'm definitely not the worst.

  • I've been using it in place of ruin because I'm sick of using the aforementioned.

  • I think, based on BVHR's record of recent killers, as much as we'd like Freddy to be awesome, he's probably going to be another mid tier disappointment. God I hope I'm wrong, but these developers don't really know what it takes to design a strong killer. At best, they've fluked with the few they have that can do well at all levels of play.

  • Killer is harder in my opinion if you don't play nurse or spirit. Survivor is only irritating because of these things: hitboxes, latency, and ######### teammates.

  • If I'm playing survivor and you camp or tunnel as your only strategy, alright, fair game. However, think of it this way: when I see you on survivor and I happen to be your killer, do you want me to apply these same tactics to you at -all- times regardless of the situation? Play the game however you want, but bear in mind that some people will pay you back tenfold if you go out of your way to make their experience miserable just because you can.

Do camping and tunneling have a place as tactics that should be selectively utilized? Yes. Should they be your main strategy in every game? No. A killer with little confidence in their ability to catch survivors employs these strategies without reason or restraint, even if it makes no sense and nets them maybe one kill.

There are times where you need pressure really badly, and maybe you're trying to capitalize on the altruism of survivors (camping) or trying to get a fast elimination to slow down generators (tunneling). Temper your use of these tactics with wisdom, because doing it too often can and will cost you games against experienced survivors.

  • If they make the protection system more consistent, the perk will be decent at the very least. Right now it's awful because the system is broken.

  • I wasn't a fan of old MoM, mostly because you didn't have to do anything for the ridiculous amount of power it gave you. I like the idea of the new version, but it actually sucks monumental donkey balls because of how unreliable the protection system is. Out of twenty games, I've gotten MoM to work twice while actively trying to protect teammates. If the protection system worked as intended, it would have been active in at least half of those games. If they don't fix how protection hits are calculated, MoM won't be worth a slot due to the inconsistency.

  • STONE COLD, STONE COLD, STONE COLD..

  • I couldn't let this thread die, especially since Amanda is soon to get some spicy new cosmetics for our Pig enthusiasts. Surely there are some other ideas kicking around the community? I'll edit this post with a few more later.

  • @Redd said:

It depends on your definition. Mine is pipping consistently against a full team of survivors who deserve their red rank. By that definition I would say no.

    This man/woman/dinosaur is indeed correct.

  • Click the 'Play Killer' option in the main menu. You are now a bot. Enjoy! >: )

  • I don't recognize the nerf by itself as this massive change that has ultimately destroyed the character. Really what they've done is take a killer who's already not viable at all levels of play (primarily high level) and sprinkled a bit of salt on his grave. He would've been bad before these changes, and now he's even worse. I completely understand that the entire issue is mainly about the principle, though.

  • This must be what seeing the future would be like as a superpower. No matter how many times you tell people, they either don't believe you, don't listen, or both. This sucks ass.

  • Darry Jenner from Jeepers Creepers.

  • Are there any plans to start making killers that are viable at all levels of play? Or are we still firmly in the.. 'fun is the only thing that matters' mindset? I'd like to remind the developers that fun killers who tend to lose very often against good survivors don't provide a very enjoyable experience. After all, who has fun losing?

Billy will not end chases faster since he can still be looped. A good Spirit cannot be looped.

If a Spirit and a Billy both catch a player in an optimal situation, the Spirit will get a hit and follow up with her power. Billy will get an instadown. Hope that clarifies what I was saying prior : )

  • Billy can end chases much faster and punish mistakes more efficiently than Spirit. However, she's more consistent when the map is especially bad and spawns too many awful loops/connecting tiles. If billy is a 8 - 9/10 killer, spirit is a solid 9, with 10 being reserved for the nurse alone.

  • But does he also need attention with that love?

  • @Pike_Trickfoot said:

They should change their ways if one of these things happen:

Competition: Some competitor finally makes a good a-sym game that can compete with the player base. Since they are currently a monopoly, they can do whatever they want without a viable competitor to worry about.

Consumers: So the burden falls onto us as the consumers. As long as they make more than lose off of us, they will not change their tactics. Consumers have the power to destroy a company if they stop giving it money. If they feel threatened by a potential loss, they will change course.

But good luck getting any of these things to happen.

    This.

  • Bug fixes are good. Bug fixes are welcome. However, if those fixes leave the killer in a worse state than they're currently in when they're not even strong to begin with, give them a buff.

Oh wait.. killer instinct reveal duration got buffed. Cool. The "Haha, I found you idiot!" icon will last slightly longer and you can proceed to be an M1 killer for 30 seconds. Wicked. Fun. Engaging.

    "Already wasnt red rank viable"

Every killer released has to be red rank viable now?

######### me I figured youd all at least be happy its GhostFace at all. But ofc not.

Wanting a killer that grows with your skill level and allows you to challenge and possibly beat the best survivors is not asking for much. A fair chance to compete is all most killers are asking for (while playing a variety of killers, not just three).

Ghostface is carried by the license alone, and that's it. I can't imagine plague did as well, especially after the news of her underwhelming state started to become more common.

  • Problem is, this information is pointless unless they're taking steps to act on it. And that's assuming they're using acceptable parameters to determine what actually -needs- to be acted on.

  • It's an action game marketed as a horror game.

  • Until the developers balance this game for high ranks, I'm not going to bother sitting there at the end of every season. I'll play the game at the ranks they balance for, 10 - 12. Down here, I can play whoever I want, get maximum points, and I don't even have to kill anyone if I don't want to.

I have nothing to prove anymore in this game. I've beaten and been beaten by the best, so now I can just enjoy the ride. Now I'm just farming points for the endless grind. Maybe if they improve the balance of the game I'll bother climbing again, but until then, I'll take my maximum points/black pip games all day.

  • I've stopped running ruin. I don't care anymore. If survivors want 3 minute games, cool. I'm fine with it. Nobody gets points and I move on to the next game. I'd rather use new perks and try out different builds than have that ######### stuck on my perk bar for all eternity.

  • The dumpster, where she'll remain for a very, very, very long time. The developers seem to think she's fine, and it's becoming more and more apparent to me that killers are no longer really considered valued assets weeks after their release. Nut n' Go, BVHR edition. Pump 'em out, nerf 'em, and get to work on the next killer. Gotta keep that three month schedule going.

  • Intent. The state the game is in can't be attributed to ignorance, as it would basically be at cartoon levels by this point. If I had to guess, it's a business decision and fairly easy to discern.

One satisfied killer for four dissatisfied survivors. One cosmetic purchase vs potentially four. HUM.

What are you talking about? Ive streamed both playing him numerous ways, including not stalking, which you do better with him not stalking at all, have gotten 4 ks, if you stalk too much you gonna lose.

This happens a lot, especially with regard to low tier characters in most games. There's always people who claim there's some super secret, special way to play a character generally deemed underwhelming by the majority (and of course, they've figured it out because of their big, sexy brain). Rarely, RARELY, they end up being right. Usually it's just someone talking out their butt or playing in an environment where both sides are not being tested to the fullest of their ability (ex. against good survivors/killers). Usually these are just broad claims with no actual evidence backing it, so I'd take it with half a grain of salt.

Don't think too much about it, as I doubt there's anything to 'figure out' about Ghostface that hasn't already been found (and deemed meh or terrible). But hey, here's hoping a miracle happens.

  • @PoisonN said:

Yes, I only saw 3 or 5 GF since the launch. Now I'm just facing Nurses, Spirits or Billys... I ask me why 👁️👁️

Ever feel like you're trapped in an endless cycle with the answers to the problem, but no one will listen? Pretty sure a lot of the community is getting some hard deju vu at the moment.

  • What Ghostface has done is bring Object of Obsession into the spotlight and shown what a devastatingly powerful tool it is. This is actually a perk I was hoping would never see play by good survivors on mass. The amount of information this perk gives coupled with map design will set you up for a guaranteed miserable experience. If multiple decent survivors run it? Holy #########, get me out.

    Darn.
