How about survivors under the effects of blindness no longer see the killer's red stain for the duration? That would make it pretty good.

The forums? Mate, you are in the most killer sided place to talk about DBD, you can say anything as ridiculous as you want as long as it supports killers point of view.
I play both killer and survivor (mix of solo and swf), and let me tell you, both sides can suck for their own reasons. That said, when I play in a group, typically we're not hyper sweaty and trying to get out in 3 minutes. If we wanted to, we could, even through ruin. Thing is, I didn't buy this game to repair generators and I'd very much like to get some points. Doing all the gens in record time and leaving just wastes time for everyone in the match.

To be fair to the devs and to the game, maybe we should wait until data is available to make any firm judgments about the Ruin change.
A DbD streamer I watch often - he is well known, very smart, and an excellent player - did a review of the announcement and was convinced that the Ruin change would be such a detrimental blow to the game that the survival of the game itself would be at risk. Then I watched this same streamer and others play the PTB. All of them performed about as well as they usually do. It's just not possible to make definitive statements yet.
Not to mention that a final verdict should come after people have had the chance to experiment with new builds. Right now the obvious ideas are the ones being debated and tested, but the dynamics of the game are complicated enough that new possibilities haven't even been imagined yet.
There were several good reasons to change Ruin. There are also potential drawbacks. Let's try it out and see how it goes.
The time for being rational and using good arguments to get through to the developers is long past. This is not a method that works in the slightest, as has been proven by their out of touch approach to the game.
-
Anyone wonder what percentage of games DS is used in? Oh, sorry. I won't talk like that anymore, my bad. This is survivor territory.
-
Got your legs chopped off? Adapt and win that marathon, idiot. What do you mean you needed those legs to run? Nah. You're just bad. : )
-
If anyone truly believes that all killers can apply pressure equally without hex: ruin with map design the way it is, you are either:
A. Slow.
B. Delusional.
C. A little of both.
There is no argument to be made here. Short of bringing the best add-ons and threatening moris, there's little most killers can do against good survivors. Key word: good.
-
Agreed. Could we get something more horror-esque? I know this is an action game, but let's just pretend we're still trying to fill that horror niche, hmm..

Typically red ranks on both sides- little behind on killer at the moment since I was out of town since the reset. All in all, I went ahead and checked my stats and it turns out I play killer about 53.44% of the time.
I do agree with what you're saying, although I do think we're talking about a best case scenario. You and I may power through it, but to give an example, what if the other guy is playing with a couple of friends who are newer to the game and haven't been practicing skill checks for the last few years? What quite often happens is that first generator will go off, but then nothing else happens as the rest of the team is running around searching for a totem. Then I have to either decide if I should continue doing generators by myself or go cleanse the totem so the others will help out.
I wouldn't base the entire thing on a single scenario, there's far too many variables. I can only speak from my personal experience, and I've had plenty of teammates who can't handle it (after over three years).
My thoughts are about the same as yours in terms of emblems, though. As someone who doesn't use Ruin (or any slowdown perks) myself, I definitely feel it. Thankfully there's also a change to address that aspect, so if someone's concern is their emblem score, it should be lessened at the same time as this change.
What about those of us that think the scoring system is complete garbage and makes zero sense? Some of us don't get satisfaction because we get a shiny button, some of us just want a chance to PLAY THE VIDEO GAME FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES.
But hey, what do I know? I only bought the game and spent way too much time playing it.

Threads like this make me think this ######### is a fever dream and that I never woke up from a coma.

Yes, we do ask the question about what's fun for Killers. Hence the changes to insta-heals, Decisive Strike, and some others. :)
You only act on problems with easily applicable band aid fixes. In case you're wondering what the real problem is for a lot of the killer cast, let me help you.
MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. MAP DESIGN. Can you hear me now? Good.

Doctor's new chase music is straight up garbage, too. Totally out of place. It sounds like you're playing a candy crush app in the background.
-
They will do what they always do. Here, I've developed a step-by-step guide of the process. I warn you though, if you don't feel like being pissed off, maybe don't read it.
- Announce and explain changes.
- Gauge outrage.
- Tell people to try the changes before condemning them.
- Changes are universally panned as ######### and players request a delay or change before release.
- BVHR releases the subpar thing in spite of feedback.
- A week later, the thing that was already under performing is nerfed.
- ??????
- More cosmetics.

I’m trying to stay optimistic and hoping that the devs just badly worded the notes or that they’ll make some changes when the patch goes live, but it’s getting very hard to do so knowing how these devs are. I’ve been playing Doc since September 2017, and these changes seem very disappointing. I won’t be surprised if Doctor receives more nerfs after the PTB just because ranks 15-20 still struggled a little bit. It’s obvious at this point that Freddy was a fluke and that every Killer will most likely go the way of Legion and Nurse.
The first step is denial. Here, have a bag. Remember to completely enclose it over your face until your breathing sounds exactly like Sally's. It should be quick-ish. : (
-
I just want you doc mains to know, I actually liked fighting you guys. Feelsbad
Join us nurse mains in the plastic bag room, I have enough for each of you.
-
... 3 second CD. So wait - shock, and then... survivor stuns you with and/or drops pallet. Shock effect is 2 seconds, cooldown is 3.. that means a survivor can recover from shock, stand in the right spot to prevent pallet block, and drop it with 1 second left on doc CD. ######### is this game anymore.
-
I refuse to ruin the game for survivors just because the developers are out of touch with their product. This isn't their fault as much as some of the killer base would like to scapegoat them for it. This is just BVHR doing what they do, and that is whatever they 'feel' is right.
-
Imagine having tons of informed players telling you why this is a poor change -AT THIS TIME- and still thinking you know better. That level of arrogance, ignorance, or whatever we're calling it at this point isn't just astounding, it's a superpower.
-
@Almo said:
We expected outrage when doing a fundamental change to a perk used in such a large percentage of games. However, after playing with the new version, we're much happier with how it functions in the game as part of the whole system.
I guess as long as you guys are happy that's all that matters, right? I mean, you understand how the game is played at high levels and choose to ignore it, so at this point, I don't think we're surprised. I think you can understand why a large portion of the community, some of which have a ridiculous amount of hours, would be against a change like this before anything meaningful is done to address game length.
This is coming from a man that doesn't even use ruin anymore (and hasn't for some time). Take from it what you will, if anything.
-
I guess no one would be surprised if the guy with the iron will avatar thought it was fine, right?
-
Shrinking the maps and looking at some window spawns would be a very good start.
-
Yes. At least for DemoPls.
-
You know.. I just thought of something random, maybe a guest boss from Bloodborne as a killer? One of the smaller ones, of course.
-
If they fixed the game, there'd be less toxicity, but that takes more effort and makes less money than cosmetics. So fk it, right?
-
Honestly, the way I've seen a lot of killers play lately, DS is almost required. That comes from a mostly solo queue experience. I would love to run meme builds and have a good time, but knowing that my first hook could be the end of my gaming experience encourages me not to.
-
You're not going to like the answer.
-
It's better than it used to be, but I mean... there's still so much to fix/rework that I don't even know if saying that is any consolation. BVHR has a studio of 120 people, 1 of which might actually do programming/bug fixes/balance all at once (the other 119 are all cosmetic specialists, lel). State of the game still isn't ideal.
-
Usually if I'm teabagging, it's just to have a laugh with the killer. I do the same to survivors on Ghostface. It's not meant to be a personal attack on their skill level or character as a human being. However, people with fragile egos tend to take these things the wrong way.
Tldr: Lighten up folks, if this game was a meal, it'd be canned by Gordon Ramsay for having too much damn salt.
-
An actual ghost that cannot be perceived by the survivors, but who downs them using the environment while simultaneously messing with their other senses as well. Won't happen though, I can imagine the bugs that would come with such a concept.
-
I usually just try to max out my points during double bp and let everyone go. Not always, but usually. Why not? Don't get anything for rank anyway.
-
We're getting there. These devs are slowly but surely breaking my will to play this bug-filled pile of #########.
-
Knowing whether or not I lost based on map layouts is the most depressing ######### in this game.
-
Wanna cut toxicity? Fix the game.
-
I fail to understand anything at any level about the developers of this game, since they're as close to conceptual entropy as you can get. Nothing they do or say makes sense. We're just along for the ride at this point.
-
Are we going to talk about how nurse can't blink in several locations on this map, but most notably anywhere near statues?
-
I wouldn't care about them if her hitboxes (and those of the survivor) actually matched what we were seeing. Unfortunately, BVHR has an obsession with basic shapes that in no way represents what we are seeing on the screen (probably because they're too lazy to code proper hitboxes, which is something that should've been in the game to start).
-
Good against solo players, awful against coordinated teams actually trying to win at any cost.
-
I don't think it's dying, but it might start stagnating if BVHR doesn't get their act together and allocate resources where they're most needed (upgraded servers/bug fixes). They're going for a lot of short-term greed strategies when they haven't even successfully developed a good title to follow up DBD. Their servers are #########, their game is broken, and it's causing people to slowly degrade into increasingly ######### behavior. DC'ing is increasing, hook suicides are increasing, and people are slowly but surely losing their patience. I myself have been dc'ing a lot more lately cause I'm not willing to put up with the bugs and bullshit in this game. Rubberbanding, bullshit hits, killer prioritization for latency, bad hitboxes.. etc etc.
If you continue to ignore real requests and make no progress toward solving the real issues, people will just give up or become toxic, sometimes both. You reap what you sow. Inaction on BVHR's part is eventually gonna cause everyone to leave this game.
-
I'd honestly say the most frustrating thing in this game is the garbage tier servers they've bought. At least on peer-to-peer you'd get some solid games sprinkled in with the questionable ones. Now, since dedicated servers, 90% of my games have been consistently awful. I suppose it's nice to have something in this game that's consistent.. even if it's entirely negative.
-
You don't like it? God damnit.
-
Wait, you mean people will eventually get sick of playing a subpar product and move on if the developers don't listen? HAHA. You're funny, guy. Stick that DBD needle in your arm. Come on, it won't hurt as bad this time, promise. Look at the new skins! Look at them. Buy them. It'll make the pain go away.
-
This is my life every ######### survivor match. I've figured out the formula:
Dead Hard + Dedicated + Exhausted = Haha. You're down.
-
Oni is mediocre. In other games, usually this means "if you sweat like a champ you could scrape up a win vs good teams." In this game, it's just another word for dookie.
-
Shrink the maps and look at linking tiles. Refusing to do this, buff him massively. Don't know what else to say at this point. We've beaten a shitload of horses to death, bois. Faith is at an all time low.
-
None of them because they're killers. Did I win?
-
@Almo said:
But in doing the update, we focused on making him more fun to play as well as against.
LoL is littered with changes they made due to characters being annoying to play against. Most notably Darius, who had a 60% ban rate, but a 48% win rate.
You mentioned making doctor more 'fun' to play as/against, which is subjective depending on the side you play most. What you have not mentioned is how you plan on making him not just viable against potatoes, but a strong competitor against solid survivors. Given the track record you guys have for the majority of your balance changes, I'd be surprised if this rework doesn't just leave doctor exactly where he is - the garbage bin.

LOL I used to being this up, then all the brilliant minds in here remind me separate teams fix bugs and one does cosmetics.
Seemingly the cosmetic team had triple the members though
What can I say except: : )

I've been struggling for last few hours with this. How is this remotely fun to anyone? Low ranks DC and highranks just teabag nonstop and then bully in the end game chat. Is matchmaking system even on?
Wait.. so the New Years Skins didn't fix your problem? Weird. That usually works.
-
Nurse.
-
So people use it, otherwise it's doodoo.
-
She can still be good, but after the changes a base kit nurse is pretty mediocre, and I feel that might be high-balling it. With green recharge and green range she's closer to old nurse w/o add-ons, but that 6 second recharge on her power is just.. a complete slog (not to mention lazy as a 'balance change' as well).
