  • I'm one of the people that realize the value they bring. They give info on where people are, they zone and harass people off gens, and sometimes they body block windows and pallets. I personally like them a lot. Sure sometimes they are useless, but I have received a lot of value from them so far.

  • It has been 8 months since they said they were working on a direct key change when the mori nerf went live, and it still isn't here. Hopefully, when they do nerf it, they will do like mori and not announce it, but I'm very skeptical that a direct key nerf will even happen.

  • As long as the server registers the pallet drop, even if it is a millisecond before the hit registers on your screen, the hit will be rolled back. You can't get hits before the pallet animation stuns anymore. The best we can hope is for BHVR to remove this update, or for them to fix the hits even connecting on the killer screen, so people don't feel cheated. Right now this change is very survivor sided, and as someone who plays 50/50, I believe this change is not good.

  • NA west coast the survivor queue times from like 5 pm to 11pm are terrible. It takes a long time as a solo. As a SWF it takes even longer.

  • Sorry to tell you, but the killer community is dwarfed by the survivor community. Most players will love this change and have no reason to hate it because they only play survivor. I personally, as someone who players 50/50, feel like all the complaining about getting hit through pallets so often was over exaggerated. People usually just threw the pallet too late and got hit and then whined about getting hit through it. But that really doesn't matter. Just look at the game's history and you can see all the absurd things that have been added to benefit the survivor because people whined and complained, that were then removed because they were absurdly broken and overpowered.

  • He is oppressive vs people that can't loop and don't pay attention, which is probably most the the community tbh. It doesn't mean he is too strong though. This community tends to not acknowledge their own shortcomings and instead they like to blame the killer being too strong for why they lost. People whine about every killer. Wraith is just now the new hot killer to complain about because he was recently buffed and some people, mainly survivor only players, think it was too much of a buff for some reason. Even with his new buff, he still gets stomped on by decent players. You can still loop him just the same and so on. Nothing much changed about him, but that doesn't matter to the people that think he is OP.

  • The hit validation might end up like pallet vacuum, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

  • Just quit playing killer. Add to the massive evening survivor queue time if possible. It is the only way this will get changed.

  • Survivors don't need 4 meta perks to win, but they still run them.

  • The problem is that ranking up is far too easy. If it was harder, all the truly good players would be at red ranks and everyone else would be at their appropriate ranks. Red ranks is currently mixed skill levels. The only requirement is to play enough. Sadly, the current game balance 100% relies on this and I don't see anything changing. Could you image if only good survivors were at red ranks? Every killer would pretty much be forced to sweat way harder, and play less of the killer pool and so on. That sounds extremely boring, draining and just not fun. At the moment there is some sweat in red ranks, but it is nothing compared to how it would be if only truly good players were at red ranks.

I really don't see much changing and we almost certainly won't be getting a casual mode anytime soon, if at all.

  • Survivor fun>Killer fun

Yeah, because everyone is the same...... Everyone also t-bags on survivor and so on.

/s to the first and especially the last sentence.

  • People all I want is a more fair game for both sides. Key is just as unfair and just as frustrating as mori was. if you can't see this, you are 100% bias. I want both sides to earn their kills and escapes. I want less frustration for both sides. Nerfing mori was 100% needed and I am glad they did it, but a key nerf is also 100% needed.

Yeah because I totally did that and I'm saying that lmao. Gosh this community is so odd. Instead of them balancing both unfair things, people are 100% okay with one existing and having the other side playing in absurd ways to counter it.

Keys with zero charges can no longer open the hatch.

    Nothing has changed about keys

Also, the devs not doing anything in the 8 months for killers, is kind of a far stretch if u ask me and rather unnecessary, hence why I'm calling you ignorant or at least, uninformed. Then u say this...

So you want everyone to run a perk to counter a key instead of them just balancing the item? What if there is no key in the lobby?

  • @InsatiableMop said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2395157#Comment_2395157

dont tunnel someone out out of fear when you see the key and it wont activate and be relatively useless

So your advice is to not do your objective if they have a key? So just let them all escape without the key and try not to prevent them from doing any gens? Even if you don't tunnel, someone will die eventually.

    @InsatiableMop said:

have to do 1 more gen than there are living survivors anyway, just play the game and when the last gen is getting worked on have that be when you hook the key carrier. the survs usually throw themselves at you at that point and its an ez gg

So I and others have to depend on how the survivors are playing in order to counter the key? What happens when you have killed someone and 2 gens are left and the guy with the key is hiding and you hook someone else and they give up on hook, then the other 2 take hatch with the key? Am I not supposed to do my objective and hook people I find and down? This is the POWER the key has. People HAVE to play in absurd ways to counter it, which is very unhealthy for the game in all honesty. Idk why people can't see this...

  • @Pilot said:

. Why is the survivor equivalent, the key,

Moris were NEVER the survivor equivalent. In terms of what they do then yes. but in terms of power? ABSOLUTELY NOT

Devs I hope you know a large portion of dedicated killer players feel like you really have no concern for what they have issues with, and the last 8 months speaks volumes to support this idea.

Did you not see the recent Franklin's Demise change for example & how keys work now or are you just ignorant? With all this drama, I thought I was at a theatre.

How keys work now? Nothing has changed about keys. I don't care about Franklins, this has ZERO to do with that perk. It has everything to do with it being 8 months since the last mori nerf, and nothing has been directly done to keys yet. I, nor anyone can kill someone early anymore with a mori, but I and other people sure can have multiple people escape before the survivor objective is complete if we use a key.

  • I don't think they care about anything we have to say. When their game's main content creator that gets like 10k viewers on their livestream and hundreds of thousands of views on their YouTube videos doesn't have any pull with the devs, what can we do?

  • @gilgamer said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/269413/bt-and-wglf-buff

That's how BT used to work if I'm not mistaken and they changed it because it was wildly OP. BT is already arguably the best survivor perk in the game and an easy top 5 it doesn't need a buff. I do however agree that WGLF needs to be procced more commonly and you should have all 4 stacks if you are escaping. I don't care if it has a Targets receipt length of ######### that procs it as long as you can comfortably get all 4 stacks as long as you aren't throwing.

I'm pretty sure BT used to give the savior BT as well. I'm talking about having BT activate if you have it equipped even when the person unhooking you doesn't have it. Currently BT, for solo play, isn't that good. It is most a SWF perk tbh. If they made it so if you had BT and someone unhooked you without BT and you still got the effect, it would add a lot of value for solo play because currently solo play is very lacking when it comes to BT because most people play greedy and don't run it while farming teammates. Think of it like the Kindred change. They made it so that you can see the other survivors when you have it equipped while someone is hooked. It used to only show everyone when the hooked person had Kindred.

Yet people actually think this game is killer sided…

That's because most people can't even loop a super safe pallet. The only reason most killers have such a high kill rate is because like 90% of the players play poorly on survivor. DBD's current balance actually relies on people playing poorly on survivor. If most people could loop and do gens effectively the killer experience would be terrible.

  • Because most people don't care about bugs and so on. They only care about new content in the form of cosmetics, rift pass, or new killer/survivor. It's the main reason DBD can have such bad balance, and constant bugs but still have a large number of players. Casual players are the majority and casual players are usually also the least invested when it comes to a game's health and balance.

  • I doubt it. I'm not a god survivor player, but I am pretty decent. I consistently run killers for a long time if they decide to chase that long. I do gens, I make safe saves so on. I try to play efficiently always. I get paired up with people that go down in 5 seconds, that don't do gens, that save in the killer's face, that don't save, and that crouch around. This happens VERY often. I would like to think that if there was an MMR I would at least be like the diamond 1 equivalent on survivor. The people I get as teammates and a fair amount of the killers I face are like sliver or bronze level.

  • I usually defend the killer role because I understand the game is very survivor sided, but Spirit is unfun and bad for the health of the game. People don't even have to be slightly decent at Spirit to clean up vs average skill survivor players. This makes solo survivor terrible because most teammates you get, are average skill players. I had a game the other day vs a Undying Ruin Spirit. All my teammates went down in like 5 seconds, but I was able to run her and break chase multiple times. The killer even said Jake ran her so long, I was the Jake btw, that gens should've been popping. This killer also said this was like their third game ever on Spirit. She is just too strong for how little effort she needs. At least with Nurse you need to guess right about line of sight blinks and get muscle memory. But Spirit is just pretty much pick her up and dominate like 90% of survivors easily. Just slap on tons of gen slowdown, Stridor and you can coast to red ranks just based on her being crazy strong and the perks you use.

  • I never let deadweight players escape. If I see a good player stuck with deadweight teammates, I will usually let them go because I also play solo survivor and know how it feels to be stuck with teammates that don't do much.

  • All I play is mid and low tier killers and I do fine most of the time. Once I get a competent team I struggle, but everyone struggles vs competent survivors. People even struggle on Nurse and Spirit when the survivors are very efficient. It's just how the game is. You just have to accept it and try to have a good time. If you can't get over it or accept it, I would just stop playing DBD, or maybe play survivor more than killer.

  • They could make her footsteps louder maybe? I personally hate playing against her, but we need strong killers in the game.

  • What do you mean by fair? Are you talking about needing to tunnel, proxy camp and slug? If so, it depends. You usually don't need to do those things vs average players, but you do need to vs survivor teams that have multiple people that know how to play to win. You can't give free saves and all that vs competent survivor players if you want to win as killer.

  • Wraith is a relatively easy killer to play. He does fairly well vs most players. He still gets stomped by competent players due to him being an M1 killer though.

  • I agree. I'm pretty much a 50/50 player and I notice way more BM and just toxic behavior from survivors. Something about only playing survivor makes some people just unpleasant. Like yesterday. This Nea called the killer trash because we got all 5 gens done in like 3 mins and some change and the killer decided to guard the survivor they had hooked because the gates were powered. The killer was like rank 12 and the Nea was rank 4 and obviously a better player, but she got caught like we all do. Instead of just acknowledging and understanding that the gates had power and that the smart thing for the killer to do was guard the hook, the Nea chose to be rude instead of being reasonable.

Then you also have to remember toxic survivors also troll their random solo teammates. Again, yesterday. I had 2 people in a SWF refuse to heal me so I could go save the 4th hooked person. They instead chose to sit in the gate and wait to tbag the killer before they left.

  • They just need to let the killer drop the totem in a spot they choose within like the first minute or two of the match. Currently the risk is way higher than the reward. Survivors have been spawning on totems forever and nothing has really changed in all honesty. I literally spawned next to totems multiple times yesterday. They have had years to get this right and make it better, and everything they have done to help hasn't really helped. Totems still spawn in the open, and next to generators. If they can't get spawns right, maybe the totem shouldn't light up for at least the first minute and a half of the match maybe.

  • Use whatever perks on whatever killer you want. I will run PGTW, Undying, Ruin and CI on Spirit and Nurse. IDC what people think. If they lose, that is on them, not me. The survivor role has all the power. The killer can only chase one person at a time. The thing is that most players just don't know how to play survivor very well. So the blame everything on the killer. When I play survivor the only things I ever complain about are killers that face camp, deadweight teammates and sometimes Spirit. I never trash talk about perks or add-ons. When I play survivor I run meta stuff, and I expect every killer I face to also run meta.

  • People are entitled. You don't even have to tunnel or camp. If people feel that you are ruining their fun, they will DC. I had a person DC earlier because they got unhooked and proceeded to go unhook another person I just hooked like 3 seconds ago. So I downed the savior and they DC. I didn't tunnel. They made a bad play and didn't want to accept that they did. So they DC while probably thinking I tunneled them.

That's not what I see. I see matches totally controlled by the killer regardless of the survivors. It doesn't have to be Spirit, it can be a Huntress. Or a Blight. Or a Leatherface. The good killers in rank 1 are unstoppable, totally unless it is a top SWF and that leaves everyone else out. Too much buffing for killers, especially perks and maps are becoming very killer sided. I remember the Autohaven maps being a fair chance to win, now it is a free win for killer. Leatherface simply moves around the map instantly downing everyone due to no pallets.

If chests are in the game, why is it not balanced so there is enough time to loot them? With a fast killer, there is no time to loot or find totems so it turns into a win for killer. It shouldn't be balanced for a coordinated genrush ignoring chests and everything else in the game.

Still think too much is expected from the 4. They have to play perfectly, loop perfectly while it is easier for killer to not worry about those things.

If anything, too much is expect of the killer. You have to hook the survivors 12 times, you have to deal with 16 perks vs your 4. You have to deal with SWF on coms, you have to deal with fast repair speeds. It is not rare for 3 gens to pop once you get your first hook. Why do you think most people run gen regression perks? Play without gen slowdown as a Wraith, or Clown vs 4 decent survivors. You are not going to have a good time. Your problem is most likely that you hardly, if ever play killer. You seem like you have no understanding of the game outside of survivor problems. You seem to want to blame killers being too OP for the reason your solo survivor experience is terrible. Plenty of good survivor players have no issue with how the game is. Most decent survivors only really hate Spirit, and that is because she is lame and has very little counters.

Besides, the 4 should have to try harder than the 1, but that isn't even the current case with the current game balance. I really don't understand how people actually think the killer is OP and that survivor is hard. The hardest thing about survivor is dealing with deadweight teammates, and that can be 100% negated by playing SWF. Survivor has 3 other people to rely on. Like one of my last games for example. One person DC at 1 gen left. My other two teammates refused to repair the last gen. So I had to do it all by myself. They benefitted from me doing the last gen. Without me doing it, it would've never got done because they were just running around. The killer has only themself to rely on.

Not all losses are simply due to Blendettes, but killer being too overwhelming. Killers can hook someone, use BBQ and down two more almost instantly. For example I played against a doctor yesterday that hooked someone, he then downed someone going for the save and his static blast showed where I was and now there's 3 not doing the objective with Ruin. Actually now the 4th person has to go for a save. 5 gens still up.

The killer is supposed to have somewhat of a overwhelming presence. DBD is a 4 vs 1 asymmetrical horror game.....

  • @Sluzzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2317806#Comment_2317806

I've played together with 4 what seemed to be really good solos (they had a lot of hours) but it was still a 4K.

What is extremely wrong here is, too much is expected from the 4. It is always "survivor needs to play better"..."survivor needs to learn how to play". Why is it not required for killer to play better? When killers lose, it is always "survivor is OP".

A misconception that survivor is chill because you have to work on gens and the killer is always moving but that doesn't mean the survivor is winning. More times than not, the killer is forcing everyone off of gens because you have to save someone, look for totems, etc. Then the perks win the game because there is absolutely no time to look for totems if the killer is halfway decent. Killer perks are oppressive.

Because it is a PVP game doesn't mean the one is almost guaranteed to win. There needs to be balance and right now killers win way too much and even make more points.

The killer player has to play better than the survivors, plain and simple. If the survivors can't loop, or don't do gens, it isn't the killer's fault. The flow of DBD is all based on how well the survivors play. If they all can loop, and sit on gens, they usually win. If they run around and loot chests, and go down instantly in chase, or crouch around, the killer will have an easy game, especially if the killer player is actually good or decent at the game. DBD is far more rewarding to competent, efficient survivor players than it is toward competent, efficient killer players. I honestly have no issue with playing survivor outside of what I mentioned. If I mess up at a loop, it is my fault. If gens don't get done, it's our fault as the survivors.

You seem to be playing a different game, or are very bias toward the survivor role imo. Killer players get told to get better all the time so idk why you think they don't. In the end, like I said, the flow of the game is decided by the survivors. If they play efficiently, there is little even a good killer player can do on most of the killers. There is only so much you can do vs 4 people that know what to do, and when to do it as 1 person. If the survivors play bad, or worse than the killer, the killer will dominate them. This is pretty much the widely accepted truth of the game by every player that understands the game from a high level.

It is up to the players to improve for the solo survivor experience to improve. The devs have done enough hand holding already imo. The resources for people to improve on survivor are there in abundance, and it is all free. Until then, solo survivor for decent competent players will continue to be terrible and will drive most to just SWF. Stop blaming the killer role because it has nothing to do with the killer outside of Spirit. The killer doesn't control how well people play survivor. Only the survivor player controls that.

Ya sure? You're blaming your teammates in a game where match making is questionable at best. Your speaking in purely hypotheticals: Am I getting a team at my level matched with a Killer at our level?

The answer is: no, you're probably not.

Well yeah, I can agree that the MM is bad, but A LOT of the issues solo survivor has is due to other survivor players. People can't loop, they save in the killer's face, they 3 gen and so on. Like I said before, I only complain about Spirit and my teammates usually, and the bad teammates come way more often than a Spirit in my experience. If people would learn to play efficiently on survivor, even at rank 8, there would be less issues for solo survivor. People literally run past pallets and get downed, then cry that the killer is OP.

  • @bobateo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2317806#Comment_2317806

And? I've played soloq where the first teammate found ran the Killer for a decent amount of time, got tunneled out of the game, the rest of us slammed out gens as fast we could and still ended up with 2-3K because of perks like NOED. One experience does not make the majority of games.

So? Next time cleanse the totems. Stop making excuses. If I miss a blink on Nurse I don't go "oh man, that dumb survivor had to move, it's their fault I missed!". I say oh well I made a mistake, and I try again. Tunneling is apart of the game. Just like sitting on gens while injured, aka "gen rush". People on this game need to stop being so entitled and learn to adapt and just play the game. I get tunneled, you get tunneled. I get hit with NOED, you get hit with NOED. It is not a big deal. I'm not entitled to win, or escape, and neither are you.

  • Gen rush is boring, but as a solo player, I stick on gens most of the time. Someone has to do them. I won't let people die, but I will sit on a gen if I can get to you before second phase hits and get a large percentage of the gen completed. What I don't understand is when competent SWF teams gen rush. I understand solo players doing gens, because solo is a struggle. But in a SWF you can goof off and still win.

  • Once you get past rank 15, you cant de-rank past it. Also, the rank system is not the best. It frequently puts new players in rank 14 against red rank survivors and players that have hundreds and thousands of hours played. The rank system and matchmaking is one of the most complained about things in this game.

  • The solo survivor experience is bad because of other survivor players. If 4 competent solo players magically get into a lobby together, the game is usually a cake walk unless the killer is a Spirit, or good Nurse. If more players took the time to improve via learning to loop, not 3 gen, and all the other things competent efficient survivor players do, solo survivor would be much better.

I just played a game where my teammate went down in 5 seconds vs a Clown and got put into the basement. Then teammate number two proceeded to go into a locker and get grabbed and then taken to the basement where the other teammate was. This was within the span of the first minute of the match pretty much. Is that the killer and his "oppressive perks" fault? Or was it the fault of my teammates not playing well?

People on both sides, but especially survivor mains, need to learn to play better. This game is highly survivor sided once you learn how to loop and do gens efficiently. It isn't the dev's fault solo survivor is unpleasant. It's on the players. If I, or any competent survivor player can learn how to loop and so on, I'm sure most players would be able to learn how to as well. I'm not a rocket scientist and it isn't super hard to learn.

Honestly, the only complaints I have as a solo survivor is facing Spirit and my teammates. Other than those two things, survivor is chill. Especially whenever I get competent teammates. Then the game is a breeze. Also for the tunneling. It is apart of the game. You win some, you lose some. I even tunnel people when I feel like I need to when I play killer. You have to remember, this is a pvp game, and the killer's goal is to kill you. If you can't hack dying in a pvp game, you should find a pve game to play instead I guess.

  • It's not that solos are bad. It is just that most players, even on killer, are not very good. I'm a pretty decent survivor, and I play solo only. I also have met other competent players that have played solo. A lot of people don't take the time to learn how to improve. Some can't understand how to, and some are just unwilling. If more players took the time to improve and learn how to loop and not 3 gen and how to make safe saves etc, survivor would be a much better experience.

Players playing bad on survivor is a large reason most killers get 4ks and do well on weaker killers. Just watch competent survivor players that stream. Most of the time they die when they play solo is due to their team not playing well. You are only as strong as your weakest link. If you have the ability to run the killer for 5 gens, but 2 of your teammates go down in 10 seconds, there isn't anything you can do if the killer chooses the weaker prey. That is just one example as well.

  • Good advice. Sadly, a lot of people won't read it all, or listen. These things are standard for me as a solo survivor player, and I notice a lot of people don't do any of these things.

  • You are talking about a side of the community that has a large percentage of bias entitled players. These people will never be happy. Like you said. If they want an obsession, they should keep using DS. DS is still a good perk to use for a second chance if you are truly getting tunneled. It just won't let you sit on a gen injured for 50 seconds with the chance of you going down at 5 seconds left and getting off the killers shoulder anymore. A lot of people don't like this fact. They preferred it not being a true anti-tunnel second chance perk. They loved being able to abuse it by saving with DS active, or by sitting on gens injured.

  • Demo is a low tier killer that is outclassed by many killers.

  • You just have to get used to it if you want to play killer, or turn off the post game chat. This game attracts a lot of entitled people that forget this is a PvP game. I think it attracts a lot of these people because you don't have to even be decent at the game to feel like you are a good player due to how the game hand holds the survivor role so much. Also the ranking system is a joke. A decent amount of people at red ranks can't even loop. This also contributes to these type of players loving this game because they can get the best rank possible, but still play terribly.

  • @Dizzy1096 said:

Even when you get better at the game it's still not much better due to being balanced for rank 20's. The chases are shorter but the gens just as fast.

This. As a killer, you can only control the game vs lower skilled survivors on almost every killer. Even a good killer vs 4 good survivors will struggle on the majority of the killer roster. Survivors dictate the flow of the game when they aren't low skilled.

  • I always rush gens as a survivor, but I don't BM the killer. The people that wait at the gates and teabag usually never play killer so they really don't care how the killer feels. This then creates face camping tunnelers that survivors end up complaining about. Your best bet is to try not to let it get to you. Feel good that you are playing killer when so many members of the community refuse to because they don't want to deal with the balance and abuse issues.

1 2 3 4 5 6 … 8
