  • Post game lobby it would be fine. I would like to know as a solo survivor if people were in a SWF.

  • DBD just sucks for the solo player. Killer or survivor. The people having the most fun are 4 man SWF with decent players.

I'm saying stop sweating as much if you don't want super sweaty games. switch up your perks, play different killers, just play to have fun. That doesn't mean you have to play bad, lol. If you want to keep playing super sweaty, then go for it. Just don't complain about playing against other sweaty players.

People shouldn't have to change how they play so they can have an enjoyable experience. If you are good and win a lot, that isn't a bad thing. It isn't the player's fault that when people are good at survivor that it breaks the little game balance DBD has. Or when they are a good solo they just face Blights with Undying Ruin Tinkerer.

  • I finally played some killer games, they were on Wraith, who is my main. The games were pretty sweaty. Had to play to win for sure. Clicky clicky, map offering in a 4 man SWF on coms using, all meta perks, never ever play killer so they have ZERO empathy type players is what I faced. I'm pretty much done with DBD for a few months at least. I was already taking a break before SBMM went live, but I reinstalled the game to try the SBMM out. I'll come back when the devs can admit they have neglected above average skill level play's balance issues for too long and are now making changes to make the game more fair at that level. If they don't, then I guess I will just stick to watching DBD content on Twitch instead of playing.

  • I agree that the game needs better balance, but most players are not very good and most see no reason to get better. Just play a few hours of solo survivor and you can see this first hand.

I'm honestly just surprised by how gullible people are willing to be. One day we're using ranks and the lobbies are awful, the next day we're using SBMM and the lobbies look identical. I just don't know why people are so happy to cover their eyes and ears and say this system will be any better when they've shown they can't make balanced lobbies for 5 years straight.

I'm very skeptical of BHVR, but personally I think the MMR is working to some degree. I'd say in up to maybe 70% of my solo survivor matches since SBMM went live I have had decent teammates. Before it was not like this. I have been getting matched with mostly other PC players, and most of them that have had their hours showing on steam have had over 1k hours. Before I was getting console players mostly.

  • Hopefully the MMR will show after a few months how bad high skill level play is in regard to killers played at that level and we will get some balance changes. I 100% can understand not wanting to face Spirit, Blight and Nurse all the time, but I also understand why good players use them and good players are going to be at the top.

  • I'm not on Oracle level, but I'm a fairly decent survivor, so yeah. What do you want out of the MMR then? If you are apparently very very top skill level, what do you expect? You know survivor is stronger and the very top level killer players know this so they play accordingly. Would you rather smash on worse killers or something? If you are a good player, you should face other good players.

  • The incentive is to play with similar skilled people. Who wants to smash on low skilled people or have low skilled teammates?

  • @Pulsar said:

    There isn't one.

The better you are at this game, the less fun it is.

Fun is subjective. I enjoy going against competent killer players when I have competent teammates.

  • My goal when going into a trial as survivor is to do my best. I can still enjoy a match if I don't escape if I played well. I feel even more satisfied if my teammates play well. As long as everyone does a decent job on gens and running and doesn't throw, I have a good time.

  • I love that Wraith is living rent free in so many heads. Last Wraith I went against we stomped. He got like 3 hooks and 2 of us were solo players.

  • Yes the game's balance issues shine bright when the survivor players are decent, but you can't blame the players. I won't play worse just because the balance is bad.

  • I have been winning a lot more games since SBMM went live, so you are wrong with win ratio. It would be nice to see what our MMR is, but it isn't necessary. As a solo survivor player, as long as I keep getting competent teammates the majority of the time, I really don't need to see my MMR to be happy. I'm happy knowing I can rely on my teammates most of the time and not lose because they made me lose.

  • Idk how high my MMR is, just like everyone else, but I'd guess it is fairly decent. Most games the killers have struggled to do well. Even when playing meta killers. I think I died like 4 out of 12 games played. Maybe 3 games were 3k or better. I know I won't be playing killer anymore until they balance the game better for higher skilled players.

  • My solo survivor matches have been nice. Every teammate has been useful so far. I can't speak for killer because I really don't feel like dealing with sweaty teams, so I haven't played killer. If you are a decent killer you probably have decently high MMR. That means you are going to get better survivors. Decent survivor players are going to be more of a challenge do to well against.

  • Wraith is bae.

  • Are you new? If not, why are you surprised?

  • I usually don't play with people with TTV in their name due to the killer possibly stream sniping. I dodge if most of the survivors are wearing default clothes because it usually means they are newer. If I can see their hours via steam and if they have like 100 hours I will dodge. I also dodge people with keys because they are unfair, and because key users tend to wait for hatch instead of saving or doing gens when 2 people are left with 1 gen to do.

  • Your title and post show that you really don't understand this game well. It isn't that people want easy games. People want a chance. Against good survivors you have to play meta killers and use meta perks. You can't play of meta if you want to win. People that are good at Clown and Doctor will still gain MMR easily against most players because most players are not good. Once they get their MMR up on off meta killers they will face good teams and have no chance. Then they will tank MMR and repeat the cycle over.

  • This isn't news to anyone that understands the game well. Hopefully it will be the thing needed for BHVR to address the game balance and design more.

The payoff in this game for being a good killer versus an equally skilled team is nowhere near the same. Anyone that pretends this isn't the case is willfully ignorant of what the best killers were saying during the initial tests.

If it helps everyone 'feel' better, sure, let's pretend that the best killer is on even footing with a team of people who are their match.

Facts. People that are not very good at survivor refuse to, or just can't understand this. Instead they think a good killer can actually compete vs 4 good survivors on a even playing field, which is 100% false.

  • Deliverance is fine. It is actually very strong in SWF.

  • People that are good at the game deserve to have fun as well. Playing all but 3 killers at a high level vs 4 competent survivors is not fun. I want to be able to play Doctor and Legion and so on without having to worry about getting my MMR too high. Let's be frank, you can 4k 9 out of 10 games against 90% of the player base on every killer. If you are doing that, eventually you will get higher MMR. Then you will face survivors you can't compete against until you tank your MMR again. How is that good? Also, who wants to have to sweat every game on Nurse, Blight or Spirit while also using Undying, Ruin, Tinkerer and PGTW/CI?

On survivor, if the MMR does work right, all you are going to face is Nurse, Blight and Spirit with slowdown builds. Granted, I understand why slowdown is needed and I'm not complaining about that, but facing those killers game after game with the same build is beyond boring. SBMM is great for everyone besides competent players pretty much. It will keep good players out of games with average players once the good players get to the proper MMR.

  • No one has said Myers yet?

  • I would be very skeptical of this. The majority of players are average at best, and you can 100% tell the game currently is and has always been balanced for and around average players. I hope it is the truth though because playing most of the killer roster against skilled survivors is not a fun, or even a semi fair experience atm.

  • SBMM is good for average players. It is terrible for good players on killer side. If you enjoy playing off meta killers and do well most of your games, you will gain MMR and will eventually end up vs survivors you can't compete against due to the game balance. Hopefully if this does happen, it will help BHVR balance the game better. Because lower tier killers have depended on mixing average players with good players for them to have a chance to do well since the very start .

Iron will is a must as it’s anoying to hear your character screaming all the damn time it’s louder then a gen,

Gen slowdown is a must because it is annoying to lose just because the game is balanced terribly. Like honestly. How do you rationalize you using Iron Will, a perk that is top 5 used for survivor, while you say killers using meta perks makes them sheep?

  • Playing without gen regression is terrible. The survivors don't even have to be decent at chases to escape because of how easy it is to do gens.

  • Anything that makes the game harder for the survivor role is hated by the majority of survivor mains. Granted it can be very good on meta killers, but the killer player also needs to able to play the meta killer at a decent level. It is most affective vs average survivor players. You can see good killers use it vs good survivors and the killer will still struggle.

  • It is a killer mechanic. To some, it is toxic by default just because of that.

Because Survivors had even broken Stuff. If we talk about the Launch:

There were double as many Pallets.

There were WAY more Windows. E.g. Ironworks, the upper Floor, every Window was open.

There was no Bloodlust and no Entity Blockers, so there were actual Infinites, Spots where the Killer cannot catch Survivors.

    Some Maps were bigger.

Some Structures got reworked a lot in 2020. E.g. Ironworks again: there was no Doorway next to the Window Downstairs, so it was a Window where you had to vault 3 times for the Entity Blocker to kick in. So basically, you were unable to chase Survivors there.

BT worked for both players when it was introduced, so both had BT (even tho, the mechanic was different, back then you had to heal to get out of the "Endurance"-State (Endurance was not a thing back then).

Brand New Parts completed a full Gen.

Syringes healed two Health States, Styptic Agents healed one Health State, both instant.

DS when introduced activated shortly after Pickup, no Unhook Requirement or anything. Later they changed it that only the Obsession has it shortly after pickup, other Survivors had to wiggle for 35% of their Wiggle Bar. So you might not have been able to pick the Obsession up, if there is no Hook nearby to dribble them (dropping them to avoid the DS) and even if you were able to dribble, it was so time-consuming.

Exhaustion was not a thing, back then a Perk like Sprint Burst was on 20 second Cooldown which also went down while running, so every 20 seconds the Survivor had Sprint Burst.

With Self Care and We Will Make it you were able to heal yourself faster than the recovery time of the Killer.

Vault Speeds of Killers were WAY slower, meanwihle Survivors were always able to fast-vault.

Those are just some things. And even then Killers were able to get Kills. Players who complain nowadays that Killer is hard really dont understand how easy it became. I am not saying that Nerfs or Buffs were not deserved, but saying that Killer is hard (or some say it has became harder or unplayable, lol) is simply wrong.

Oh please. The only reason people got kills back in the day is for the same reason now. It all comes down to people playing poorly on survivor. That is the reason people hate competent teams. When people can play survivor efficiently while in a SWF, the game feels almost impossible to win on almost every killer. Yes killer is easier now, but the game still has the same problem it has had all along. Once people understand how to play survivor optimally, the game balance goes out the window. There is only so much you can do on most killers. The survivor role has much more utility and people that understand how to use that utility properly, are favored to win. Like, this isn't hard to see or understand. The fact that people still debate this is crazy imo.

  • Well saying take a break is pretty much all we can do. People have been complaining about how terrible killer is vs players that know what they are doing for years. The devs look at kill rates, and the kill rates are at a level the devs like. This is due to most people playing survivor not understanding how to play efficiently, so they die easily. As long as you want to play killer, you just have to accept that if the survivors know what they are doing, you are going to be the one at a disadvantage. I personally hate that I can't compete vs competent teams on my mains, Wraith and Bubba. I also hate that I slaughter every team that isn't competent. It's a messed up situation. Being a competent killer player that doesn't like Spirit, Nurse or Blight, means you are going to lose sometimes, and it will most likely 100% be out of your control. That is really the most frustrating part to me. Knowing you can loose just by what perks and killer you run is so absurd and is reeks of terrible game balance and design.

  • If I get tunneled to death and the other 3 escape, I'm happy with that. The devs can't do anything about killers that tunnel hard. If they add a mechanic to combat it, it will be abused somehow. People always find a way to abuse, and exploit things. Being tunneled is just a part of the game. If you can't handle it happening sometimes, play only killer, or stop playing the game. Those are really your only other options outside of getting over it and just moving on to the next trial.

  • DBD attracts a certain type of player in abundance. People are very entitled, especially on the survivor side. There is a reason I don't show any mercy anymore as killer. It is because no matter how nice you play, people will DC, and they usually DC because they made a mistake they can't own up to.

  • Because most players playing survivor are average and get killed easily by most decent killers. The devs, and most of the community don't care about the efficient players playing in SWF together causing balance issues. As long as the majority are easily killed and inflate the kill rate of all killers, there is no issue seen.

  • I wouldn't be surprised if there was many people that slightly increase their movement speed so they are not obvious. A lot of people use exploits to gain an advantage already, case in point, resolution exploit. It wouldn't shock me if some of them also used more than that.

  • It is the reason actually. Before you could do well on Billy with his good add-ons without having to know how to curve well. Now you only really see good Billy and bad Billy players because to do well on him now you have to know how to curve. You can't just be overall good/decent at basic m1 killer things like running tiles and mind gaming while relying on instant saw for your 1 shot downs anymore.

  • This is a PvP game. If the survivors are trying to win, you have to play to win as killer. You got to tunnel, slug and camp when appropriate. If you don't, you lose. Playing nice = throwing the game.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

The system is good. It just needs to be followed up with balance changes. That's what MMR is really bringing to light right now, how imbalanced the game is. "Killer is just a sweat fest every time." "I always get bad solo teammates." Like, where have y'all been? Nothing's changed on that, so why are you blaming that on the MMR system?

Actually killer isn't always a sweat fest. I regularly play at rank 1 and before the SBMM test I could play fun builds and weaker killers. Sure sometimes I would need to sweat but that wasn't 5 or more games in a row. Now when I go on a killer I usually win a lot on, that is also weaker, I'm struggling because the killer just doesn't have enough in their kit to compete vs 4 competent players. I understand it isn't fair to the lower skilled players that I and many killers have played against and killed, but it also isn't fair for people to struggle just due to the bad game balance.

  • @Axx said:

Solo survivor is just as, or even more terrible than killer atm. At red ranks almost every game is Undying Ruin + insert any upper tier killer. It is a pain to deal with. Almost every killer plays the same as well. Slug, hard tunnel, proxy camp. Even when the survivors are obviously not that good. I understand killer is hard vs 4 competent players, but most games even at red ranks aren't vs competent teams.

Like seriously. Just went vs a proxy camping tunneling Freddy. How is that fun to face?

I would like to see the real stats for killer pick rates at red ranks. As far as I can tell the whole "it's only Nurse, Spirit, and Blight at red ranks" is nothing but an exaggeration. I don't notice those 3 any more or less than I have at any other rank. I'd say I face more Wraiths, Deathslingers, Nemeses, and Bubbas by far than Nurse, Spirit, or Blight.

I literally just went against another Undying Ruin Blight my last game. The Blight tunneled out a Claudette when there was 3 gens left and they still had Undying and Ruin up.

  • @Carth said:

OP this is almost impossible to fix at the moment. You can't just nerf the meta, you'll still see only blights/spirits/nurses at high skill games and the reason for this is just math. Standard M1 killers against good survivors just can't compete when at the start of a game with 4 survivors you start chasing 1 and the other 3 instantly hop on gens. What happens next? Describe to me in seconds how long it takes to get hit #1 and hit#2 and a down on the first chase. I promise you vs a good group of survivors it will probably be at least 40-50 seconds. Three gens to one hook. The game is extremely lopsided in the survivors favor from that point on and if the killer doesn't camp/tunnel the games usually end with 4 escapes and 5-7 hooks. The mobility killers are the only ones who can slightly deal with this thanks to their travel time being drastically reduced.

So how do you fix this? You can't, at least not in an obvious way.

Increasing gen times? Unless you drastically increase the gen times it does nothing in the above scenario. Adding ten seconds won't stop 3 gens from popping on the first chase. This is also incredibly boring for the survivors.

Reduce resources? Unskilled players would be absolutely slaughtered if you did this

Reduce map sizes? Maybe, but every map being Dead Dawg size sounds pretty bland and terrible too

Increase killer speeds across the board? Maybe, but this has some pretty big implications and removes even more interactivity on the survivors side

Give every killer a mobility aspect? Maybe, but pretty boring that everyone can zoom across the map.

My entire rambling point can be summed up as "even if you delete meta perks on the killer side, it will just be replaced by the next best thing. You'll still see the exact same killers without much variety".

Well here is the thing. High skill games at red ranks with cross-play on are probably 1 in 50 games. I understand that the game is survivor sided at high skill level, but 99% of the games played are not with high skill survivors. Killer is a joke at red ranks until you meet a decent team. So in the meantime, solo survivor has to suffer due to the slim chance a killer might get a high skill team. Also I have played killer vs actual good teams many times, I know how it feels. That doesn't mean I discount how terrible solo survivor is due to the current meta.

  • @Crowman said:

If the devs just nerf meta things all that would happen is people move on to the next thing.

It's not a fault of the game, the strongest things will always be used more than the weaker things at ranks where people are trying to win.

Yeah. That is why you shift the meta. This meta has been the same for far too long. All the killers that were weak years ago are still weak. All the strong perks from years ago are still strong.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2411607#Comment_2411607

Then that's on you. On the worst day, I am having sweaty SWF on 7 out of 10 games. On the best of days, it's only 2 out of 10.

I play red rank killer and go on regular 10+ 4k streaks. I usually defend the killer role, but red rank killer is a joke to play unless you actually face a good team. While red rank solo survivor is a terrible struggle 8 out of 10 games. I can admit it is partly due to teammates, but a good portion of the problem comes from high tier high mobility killers with perks that solo players just can't deal with. Not to mention pretty much every red rank killer that uses Undying, Ruin, Tinkerer and PGTW all "sweat" super hard, even if they down people with 10 second chases.

  • I try to play well on both sides. On killer I want to 4k every game, so I will play to 4k. On survivor I want to win which for me is a pip, and a 3 or 4 man escape. I sweat as survivor and as killer. I usually solo so my sweating isn't really that impactful on survivor, but I still do try my best to do well for me and my team.

  • New DBD is way better. Old DBD was super super bad. BNP, pallet vacuum, infinite loops, mlga, op tile setups, infinite NOED, 3 blink and omega blink Nurse and on and on. The game still has balance issues, but it is much more fair now.

  • Use CI, PGTW, Undying and Ruin. I would suggest to always use CI with PGTW, or Undying Ruin. You can use them all together, but it can be overkill vs random solo players. You also have to know where not to chase, and don't chase one survivor for too long. You can try to hold a 3 gen setup as well.

  • Solo queue is mostly bad due to survivors and not the killer. If you are a capable survivor player you will notice this easily. Every survivor player has the opportunity to play well, they just have to try to learn and improve. If more people played better, solo queue would be much better. Just because people can't use the survivor role's potential, doesn't mean the game is killer sided. If the game was killer sided, I and other people would have no issue on any killer vs competent survivors, but that is not the case. Try to go vs a 4 stack of good players as Clown, or Pig. You will struggle and lose badly because those players are able to play the survivor role to its full potential.
