I feel like you need to adjust the noise Chucky makes. I understand the need for the footprints, but that with the chuckle, it makes it so you can't even sneak up on people while using Hidey-Ho and Hex: Plaything. People just hear you and shift w, which is an easy and very strong thing to do vs a 110% speed killer.
-
I have been using WoO since back when it had a cooldown. It's a great perk for solo play. Running to dead zones is a bad feeling. How is the perk an issue? Good loopers already know where all the pallets are. Nerfing it would just hurt solo survivor even more, and I say this as a at heart killer main.
-
@sulaiman said:
You are both right. DEHAVIOUR, 61% kill rate is not enough, we need more kills, not less.
Kill rate accounts for all the survivors that get downed in 10 seconds, and that give up on first hook. Remember that. The kill rate means nothing because it combines players that could run a m1 killer for 5 mins if they had the right tile setup, and survivors that go down in 10 seconds to Ghost Face at shack with pallet still up.
-
They need to just scrap this whole idea. They probably spent a decent amount of time on it already, but it is a bad idea that will massively affect the game balance in a negative way. Base kit UB is not worth this new mechanic. This new mechanic is very situational and brings no where near the amount of value base kit unlimited BT will bring to higher skill survivor players. No more slugging to force pick up so survivors get off gens for a few seconds. No more punishing greedy or bad plays. Not worth it. BHVR has made some great changes recently, but this ain't it.
-
This making impactful survivor meta perks base kit thing is terrible. It does two things to the game. It makes higher skill/MMR killer matches even more terrible on almost every killer, and it makes competent survivor players even stronger. Which is something they don't need. These types of changes hardly impact average skill level play the way they impact higher skill level play. Competent survivors in SWF already dominate the game vs almost every playable killer. With this UB change, they will have an even easier time doing it.
-
Most people don't see the game being survivor sided because they are not able to play survivor at a level where they are able to take advantage of how strong survivor can be. The majority of players will never reach that level, so the majority will always disagree. Also, a lot of people don't care about things that don't affect them personally in a negative way. Seeing that survivor is the role that seems to be played by more people, you can put two and two together.
-
Other survivors have been the main cause of the terrible experience that is solo survivor for years. Why do you think almost every decent player plays SWF with other decent players?

Otz admitted it's balanced but his wins were by playing dirty (tunnel, slug, camp, etc). Otz also points out the killer doesn't have room to make mistakes or they lose. Survivors can make a ton of mistakes and recover. The killer makes 1 or 2 mistakes and the game is lost.
So imo the point here is, bhvr seems to have balanced the game for casual survivors but not casual killers. Casual survivors have a lot of strong tools they can use with little skill. Casual killers just get stomped by average survivor teams. Streamers with 7k+ hours in game don't speak for the majority of killers just like they don't for the majority of survivors.
This is what I have been saying for a long time. It is the whole reason why survivor players that know how to take advantage of everything designed for casual skill survivors are so strong.
-
It would be too good. Maybe with 15 seconds tops, but ain't no 45 seconds seeing a live version.

There is no middle ground. And as I have said before ,trying to learn a new killer is unbearable.Players should get different mmr with each killer. That gives opportunity to learn different killers and bring variety to the game.Survivors will say we want the same thing!!!Its different with survivors because if you put the same four perks and same add ons to a Steve as you did an ash, there is no difference except cosmetically.try being doc or spirit main and then trying to learn deathslinger or blight.Bug darn difference.
Yeah, I know. It is quite sad honestly. Oh well. There ain't anything we can do about it.

@gendoss said:
Or just play the game normally and get a 75% kill rate handed to you like the average killer.
Why would anyone that is actually decent at killer want easy wins handed to them? What we want is a fair challenge, but that is not possible. It is either stomp on average survivors easily, or face competent survivors that take advantage of the questionable balance that tips in their favor.
-
I see a lot of you still haven't learned yet. Maybe in another year or two you will finally catch on.
-
If I only viewed the game with average players in mind, the things they do make total sense.
-
Well the killer is usually stronger because most survivors are not very good at the game. Once you start getting better at killer you start to face better survivors more often and when the survivors start to get good at the game, that is when the killer gets weaker.
-
True, but killer is awful due to things outside the role's control, like design and balance decisions. Outside of tunneling and camping survivor is usually a awful experience due to other survivors actions, and the survivor role can 100% avoid that aspect with SWF.

The notion that the devs are biased is laughable. Survivors and their perks/items have been nerfed tremendously over time. 800 hours is not a lot. You probably have a ton to improve on.
People with 5k+ hours share the same sentiments. I guess they also have a lot to learn? Granted, some of what the OP said I don't agree with, 800 hours is a decent amount of time to put into a game and DBD is not as complex of a game people like to make it out to be. After you learn what all the perks do, what the killers do, and the maps, a good gamer can catch on quick.

it was just a suggestion to killer players that sweat their balls off, and then ######### about getting sweated on back because mmr.
I mean people that sweat face people that sweat. It just happens to be that almost every playable killer can't compete against sweaty survivors. It has zero to do with people not being at the correct MMR and so on. It all has to due with the game balance. People shouldn't have to tank their MMR so they can have a good time. The game needs better balance outside of average skill level.
-
So what you are saying is that competent killer players that enjoy playing off meta killers should intentionally lose until they get to a point where they can have fun by facing opponents of lower skill? Hmm. That sure sounds like a big issue to me that should be dealt with. Shouldn't DBD be a fun experience on all playable killers at all skill levels? Sorry If that is a crazy idea. I have them sometimes.
-
This is why you play for YOUR fun. When I play killer, I'll do whatever I need to do to 4k. If the survivors get 4k, that is on them. I know they truly are stronger than the killer when played well. If the people playing survivor can't play at a level where they should win, that is on them.
-
Killer is always wrong. Play to win by tunneling and camping when needed, you are a terrible person. Play nice by giving free saves, never tunneling and not using slowdown perks, enjoy the tbags, ggez and the ggs the survivors only give when they escape. When playing killer you have to just not care about what the survivors want, or say. That team was a 4 man SWF using meta perks and on and on and they still get mad that you played to win, just like they did, because they probably only play survivor so they have ZERO empathy for the killer role.
Try not to let people that don't understand what you need to do to win as killer against survivors that are playing to win get to you. The game is so one sided when everyone knows how to play to win in a trial but most people refuse to accept it. You have to camp and tunnel at times, or you just throw the game.
-
I think it should work like that. It only really benefits the person you are saving and a lot of solo players are selfish and don't run BT. If it gave you Deep Wound when you also got unhooked if you have it equipped it would be ran much more in solo play. I say this as someone who plays mostly killer with some solo survivor.
-
Camping is effective because most survivors feed kills. Most players, especially solo survivors, when they get camped they will wiggle and let themselves die. This then lets you chase and down and camp someone else. Then this repeats over and over again. Most survivor players have zero patience and won't hang then struggle so the team can do almost all the gens before they die. Plus, people try to save, instead of doing gens hard, then they get downed and slugged and so on. It ain't the game's or the killer's fault if people feed camping killers more kills.
Like I know solo survivor is rough and that some killers camp and just play mean, but this game is already hand holding the survivor role so much. What more do people want? At this point, the only thing that is going to make people happy is if BHVR adds a bot to play killer that is programmed to only chase.
-

Good on you for trying out survivor. It's really important to have a deep understanding of both roles before one can truly understand game balance IMO. I get a chuckle out of the typical "killer hard" posts, because solo queue survivor often pits you against 4 opponents as well, except 3 are supposed to be on your team.
Yeah but the solo experience is almost only hard because of your teammates. While killer is mostly hard due to the game balance. Your teammates can improve and stop being a hindrance if they choose, but the killer role can't change the game balance to be more fair.
-
Comms ruin the experience for the killer. It also gives already good players a huge advantage that they don't need. Unfortunately this the reality. People should be able to talk and play with their friends, but with DBD, it comes at the cost of the other sides experience and enjoyment.
-
@oliviaa said:
i'm a survivor main at top mmr for surv and play against top mmr killers constantly. while boons are absolutely overpowered in swfs, it makes solo queue games MANAGEABLE to get by and actually have a chance of escaping (aka not getting killed 5 minutes within a game because teammates r clueless).
if you cant hear a boon or figure out why all 4 survivors keep running to the same place in the map after every time they get hit, that's on YOU. if anything BHVR should add particles for killers around boon locations as it will help ppl with hearing disabilities but even then it's not hard to memorize where totems are at all. it takes the killer not even a second to destroy the boon, and if survivors keep relighting them, that's 14 or 24 seconds of one survivor not on gens.
unless y'all are playing in tournaments, this game is FOR FUN and not every match will be the same easy 4k against megheads and leons urban evasioning around the map, and that's the charm of the game.
How is it on YOU? You do know the survivors can just bless the totem again or bless a new totem right? The killer has no way to remove the totems out of the trial. So the boon gets to always be up in theory. Also you can't push what you find fun or what people should find fun onto others. If people find enjoyment from getting 4k, that is their preference. If people would get more enjoyment from a more balance and fair experience, they are allowed to have that desire. The whole "the game isn't a tournament, you don't need to 4k every game to have FUN" mindset is always being spouted out by survivor mains. It ain't a good look. It makes y'all look very bias.
-
I have been saying for years that most of the issues that make solo survivor terrible are caused by other survivors. They DC, they give up on hook, they farm their teammates, they crouch around and hatch camp, they go down 5 seconds into a chase and on and on. Sure the killer can camp and tunnel, but I have found that the former things I listed that survivors do happen much more often.
-
I mean some people do take it too seriously, but wanting better balance is not taking it too seriously, and that is why a lot of people don't have fun with the game anymore. The game is just not fun on killer when the survivors know what they are doing because the game isn't balanced around them knowing what to do. Even if you don't want to sweat for a 4k, even getting 2 kills can be rough. Then if you enjoy solo survivor it is also not fun because killers camp and tunnel a lot due to said balance issues, and because other survivor players DC and just make the solo survivor experience terrible.

Need I remind you people BHVR is an indie company. They just don't have the funds to fix everything at once like Epic, EA, or Activision does. They have to constantly push out massive updates every 1.5 month, you just can't fix all your issues in that kinda time frame.
BHVR isn't some small indie company. They have 850+ employees according to their Wikipedia as of 2021. They could fix every issue DBD has if they wanted to.
-
Lol all the people saying this isn't a good representation of the game being survivor sided. This is what the game is like on non meta killers against survivors that know what they are doing. You also have to remember they were "goofing" around with the FL locker saves. If they didn't play around, he would've lost much quicker. But yeah, DBD isn't survivor sided. We, as in 95% of the community, only account for solo survivors getting smashed on and the kill rates which are inflated by said solo players that have zero clue how to loop shack. Most players could have double pallet and vault jungle gyms and still die 9 out of 10 games. But lets keep basing survivor potential around those level of players, instead of competent players that smash on every non meta killer they face, even if the killer player they are facing is actually good at the game.
-
Wraith excelled at hit and run, sneaky gameplay. With COH, bye bye to that. Now you just gotta M1 force pallets, and we all know how that goes. Wraith's last nerf, and the addition of COH is a HUGE reason why I quit playing DBD. Was a Wraith main that loved hit and run sneaky sneaky.
-
Imagine having 4k+ hours and acting like this lmao. This person 100% knows that survivor is stronger than killer when played well, but they don't care. The balance lets these people just keep their inflated egos and keep on being toxic. Sadly, nothing will change.
-
When people talk about high skill or MMR they mean against people that are good at the game. It is easy to see who is, and who isn't good at the game. High level play definitely exists. If it didn't, people wouldn't complain so much about there being no balance at that level.
-
I last played 09/20/2021. This is one of many breaks I have taken since I started playing in Feb 2018. Actually, this time, I probably will never return, so it's more than a break. The lack of care about above average skill level play is what mostly drove me to take another break. I'm tired of the balance and design choices not taking into account what good players can do and are capable of with things designed with average players in mind. When boons were announced is probably when I decided that this time me not playing anymore was more than just a break. Boons being added showed me and everyone else that cares about skilled play in DBD that design choices do not consider good players playing the survivor role.
The killer community, and even players that are good at both roles and play 50/50 are not a priority in the slightest. Everything must be catered toward average skill survivor players. Instead of balancing things more toward skilled play and encouraging average players to improve, the skilled players on killer get to suffer because skilled survivors get to take advantage of everything designed to help average skill survivor players. Now, I have nothing against average skill players, but a PvP game should be balanced and designed with higher skilled players in mind and should encourage lower skilled players to improve. When you balance around average skill, we end up with the current situation in DBD at higher skill levels, which is, competent survivor players controlling the game with ease.
-
Against a 4 man team that knows how to play and wants to win, it is hard. No build will help you more than your own game sense and skill.

Wouldn't that always be a yes? Either way, thanks for the response.
Yeah for sure. Especially so against Pinhead imo. I played with some decent players in a SWF on coms a few days he came out, and we always had someone getting the box. I would say 4 out of 5 Pinheads we faced never got their passive power because we were prioritized the box well. A lot of the time he would get a hit and begin chasing someone as we would grab the box and he would have to choose getting a down, or getting pressure from Chain Hunt.
-
I think they are basically asking do you think Survive with Friends helps people with dealing with the killer.
-
I 100% think SBMM is needed so lower skilled people can have a fair and fun time. But I also think the game isn't balanced well enough for higher skill play to have implemented SBMM. At higher skill level the game is terrible. It is all "gen rush" and Blight after Blight due to the balance issues.
-
What do you expect when the game has two sides that deal with different issues and play 100% differently. That also doesn't account for all the people that only play one side of the game so they don't understand what the other side deals with. So they just think people that play the other side are the worst thing ever, or that the other side is OP and on and on. If more people took the time to play each side so they could get a view of what the whole game experience is, a lot more people would complain less and have a lot more compassion. Until then, expect people continue complaining about things that are not true and for people to continue to treat others terribly.
-
6 months is the longest, but I regularly take 2 or 3 month breaks as well.
-
SBMM is better, but it could be better than it is. The problem is that there are too many things for them to track to determine skill if they don't want to just use obvious things that separate competent players and average players as the means of determining MMR increases and decreases. A good player can run a killer for 4 gens and die and lose MMR with the current system according to an answer from the dev Q&A stream today. That is just rubbish and should never be a thing. A player basically carries the game with a 4 gen run and they are punished for it.

They did buff Trapper and Plague, which is a good direction.
Yeah but are they buffed enough to compete with pre-nerf Spirit? Only time will really tell, but I would guess no.
-
I think Spirit needed a nerf or change, yes. But not before bringing a few killers up to a level where they can compete at her level, which they didn't. So now we just have another killer becoming weaker and the buffs they are giving other killers are not substantial enough to bring some of them up to even remotely near her pre-nerf level.
-
The only way to truly determine a survivor player's skill is by chase time. The only truly skillful thing is being capable of running a killer. Everything else a 10 hour player can do just as good as a 5k hour player. Hook saves, healing, and doing gens are not indicative of skill. Sure there are things like body blocking but I would assume it would be hard to determine what was an actual good body block or someone trying to farm MMR with it.
On killer it is much easier to indicate skill. Chase time, hits, hooks, kills and to a degree, gen repair delay. Survivor just has so much down time that there really isn't much to go off of if we are being honest. The killer is always doing something to display their skill.

We are bickering over semantics at this point. Whether or not it's the killer's base kit or the defacto mandatory addons that were nerfed isn't relevant. What I'm saying is that, when played as most moderately skilled GF's usually do, the changes amount to a nerf to the killer overall.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2549247#Comment_2549247
Eh. The average player is averagely skilled. That's...sort of what 'average' means. But yes, if Wraith was too difficult for intermediate and beginner players to deal with, he definitely needed some help in his basekit to prevent him from being absolute doo-doo in higher skill matches, where he was already very mediocre.
I understand what average means and average DBD players don't play well. They lack game sense and mechanic understanding and it drags the game down for everyone that is decent at the game. Now, I don't hate average players, I'm not some super god at DBD, but I understand the game very well and I know Wraith is only an issue against average survivors. I really don't see why every balance change has to be decided by average player enjoyment. CSGO, LoL and on and on, balance their games in a way that encourages average players to improve, so the balance choices don't affect higher skill level play in a negative way.
When a PvP game is balanced around inexperienced player enjoyment, all the experienced players abuse everything. In a asym game like DBD, it is even worse because one side is always outnumbered. Currently, killer is only the true power role when playing one of 3 killers when facing competent survivors, and calling it a power role then is even a stretch, or when you face inexperienced players. If you face a competent team on all but 3 killers, you will struggle, even if you are a overall decent/good player. It is just the way the game balance plays out above average skill.
-
Occupying the killer and wasting their time is the only real skillful metric to judge a survivor players skill in all honesty. That is why the SBMM is flawed to a certain extent with DBD. There are too many unimportant variables that really don't indicate skill. Like hook saving, healing and doing gens. Everyone can do that, but not everyone can run a killer for multiple gens if the killer commits to a long chase. Being able to run the killer and waste their time and pallet usage management during chase are the biggest things that separate average and competent survivor players.

The average player is quite low skill from what I have seen over the years. They complain about weak killers that competent survivor players have no issue with all the time. Why is anyone surprised that Wraith is getting nerfed? He has been the main focus of survivor main complaining since Freddy was nerfed.

- Soon™.
- Maybe, who knows? We don't have anything planned for it now.
- No, we are not doing that.
- It is on our radar, but don't have more info.
- We are trying to solve face camping, maybe we have an idea to solve it, Soon™.
- On the wishlist, but we don't have time, there are things with higher priority.
My feedback for the questions: Don't ask questions, where the answer is yes/no style... You will get a boring answer.
They pick the questions to answer. There were probably many "spicy" questions that didn't have yes or no answers that were not picked or ignored for various reasons.
