  • I do! I’m not a fan of the over the top blood gushing, but I’ve always been a fan of martial arts action scenes, which is why I loved The Matrix.

Some potential good news is that there is a chance that there will be a Kill Bill part 3! Tarantino mentioned he feels like he’s getting a plot worked out for it!

Np! Franklin's is also really good with The Hag btw

I really hate the Hags point of view, but I’m going to give her a good shot after the nerf of Ruin. At least after I buy a lot of her add ons that let me teleport to any trap at any time.

It’s going to be hard playing Killers that don’t have fast map traversal.

Leatherface. Just don't put the bear trap right on top of the item or it'll be too obvious; put it where they would approach from or where they would go after grabbing it.

    Thanks for the advice!

My mean Trapper perk build: NOED, Franklin's, Blood Warden, and Remember Me. Trap exit gates. Tunnel obsession. Hit everyone trapped. Trap dropped items.

Oh my goodness, I didn’t think about trapping items! Who do I need to level up so I could unlock Franklins?

Her range of cosmetics makes seeing multiple blendettes even more distressing. All that choice and they come in dressed like #########. When I'm surviving I like to put some effort into my appearance, getting into a lobby is a special occasion.

They only dress like that so they could safely use the environment to get closer to that wonderful snout of yours. Stop playing hard to get, we know you love us.

  • @Aneurysm said:

Killer: finding immersed survivors (blendettes who use yamaoka offerings, I hate you all so much)

Survivor: suicidal altruism, even as a solo

You can’t resist our chocolatey goodness. We know you love us <3 We love you and we want to Boop your snoot.

In all seriousness, Claudette was my first main due to people suggesting her for self care, and I just think she’s the best to play with. Yes, her built in stealth is annoying, but she doesn’t have an annoying face or demeanor like other survivors do.

She also has some nice outfits.

  • @lynelmane said:

the Trapper build I do the best with is this:

Corrupt Intervention - to give yourself setup time at the beginning of the match

Ruin (old) - wont have use after the nerf is live

Huntress Lullaby - to give Ruin a lesser chance of being cleansed first, and also good for tracking if it says up

    BBQ - tracking

EDIT: you could use Devour Hope or NOED instead of Ruin, otherwise this is my build every day.

I’ll be using NOED instead of Ruin, I want to see the survivors running around like headless chickens, only to get caught in traps, so Corrupt Intervention May be a must have.

Would be nice if Trapper started with a base of three traps, and his bag add on would be standard.

  • @PokemonGOPlayer said:

Haunted Grounds or Remember Me considering what you are going for.

Yea, those are good suggestions. I think haunted grounds could lessen their guard after they cleanse it, making them think that totems aren’t as important anymore.

  • @xCarrie said:

Just increase the numbers to a hex level, ya know, “high risk high reward?” Make regression the same speed as a survivor repairing or even faster to make it strong. Too OP? Cleanse the totem.

Ruin wasn’t too OP and it was gutted. Apparently, it doesn’t matter if a perk is OP or not, if it’s not fun for survivors, it will be gutted.

  • As a survivor?

I can’t make chases last due to being in able to loop. I have an issue with my ulnar nerve in my left arm, which hinders the use of my left hand, so it makes controlling my character a little more difficult than it would others.

This also makes it difficult for me to face stealth killers since I rely on spotting them before they spot me. Sometimes, when I’m urban evading towards a middle gen at the start of the match (because survivors insist on starting with edge gens and saving the hardest for last) I’ll actually walk right into a Ghostface and just clam up. Sometimes my twerking and head shaking causes them to show mercy, sometimes they shakes their heads no and have their way with me.

    As a killer,

Its very hard to find immersive players. I learned not to chase the survivors that want me to chase them, but sometimes I have no choice because their teammates are practically invisible, which is why I spent the shards for the Doctor. I didn’t like playing him so I got Plague, and I have to say, infectious fright is fun.

Also, I tend to tunnel the second survivors get 3 gens. They usually go by so fast, I feel like I don’t have a better choice.

  • Only if you twerk for me.

I realize this is from yesterday, but your matchmaking isn't taking ranks into consideration. I've seen brown ranks come up against red rank killers, and vice versa.

When it was fixed a few months ago, it was correct for roughly about 2 weeks. Then the next update broke it again, and it's not even been addressed in other Dev Diaries or anything.

I’m pretty sure the broken matchmaking isn’t a bug nor is it broken. It is intentional. When it was working the way it should work, queue times were too long, now that ranks are all jumbled, queues are shorter. It’s why they want to hide ranks on the tally screen and it’s why they haven’t addressed questions about matchmaking on the forums.

  • @jebbush said:

If OP were around in the early days, he probably would've argued that infinites, pallet vacuum and instablind flashlights were fair and balanced. To even defend original MoM shows a complete lack of game balance understanding.

Can you tell me what the original MoM was? Still relatively new to this game so I’m still ignorant of a lot of the changes the devs have made.

You're right. Take for instance self care no mither. Best build in the game, and they are inseparable. By themselves, they aren't very strong. I hope they fix those among other things.

I use self care + botany since I play solo and can’t rely on teammates to heal me, and it’s nice to heal teammates faster.

But back to the subject at hand, both self care and botany are useful alone, all throughout the match. Ruin, in its new incarnation is useless for most of the match, and is completely useless if survivors find it at the start of the match. That is just bad design by the devs.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/118948/noed-meta-incoming

I thought NoED was already pretty meta. I mean, PS4 every killer runs NoED for some reason, less so on PC.

I don’t see NOED on PC that much ever since I got to higher ranks. But it does make the game more exciting when I do see it. It is a pain to face, but I’m not going to fault the killer for it. They’ve been playing the match with 3 perks, and risked losing NOED if the we did all the totems, which I cleanse on sight of I spot them due to my greed for bloodpoints.

It also extends the game just a little bit, which can be nice. Some killers need it, especially when they have to face 4 borrowed times, 4 adrenalines, 4 decisive strikes and 4 of what ever second chance perks the survivors choose to equip.

  • I would get Epic Games or another developer to buy the game and work on it. They seem to care about making the game fun for all of their players and not just new ones.

Also, I’ve been watching some funny DbD videos on YouTube, and they all involved many game breaking bugs. I have never seen so many bugs in a video game as much as I have in these DbD videos. I feel like Epic would do a much better job with development (Granted they’re a much bigger company, but still, it would be nice).

And so my question is, since DS can screw you over without tunneling, would killers be justified in tunneling anyways since survivors have a counter.

    What I see is:

    - gets DSed without tunneling, gets told to not tunnel

    So is the inverse okay?

    - gets tunneled without DS, gets told to just bring DS

Killers are always justified when they choose to tunnel. Don’t get me wrong, I hate getting tunneled and camped when I play survivor, but since I started to play killer more, I learned to not get mad at killers who do it.

It is not the Killers JOB to provide fun for the survivors, especially when so many survivors find it fun to make killers as miserable as possible with their new “hook tech” or t-bagging, or running directly to the god loops. Devs are responsible for making the game fun for survivors, which they will always prioritize.

A killers role is to kill. If tunneling achieves that and makes their match less stressful, then more power to them. It’s not as if survivors ask themselves how they could make the game more fun for the killer.

  • @Tarvesh said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/980571#Comment_980571

It's almost like new survivors could have done that with Ruin too... Huh... It's almost as if you selectively use your logic.

Silly, you should know logic only applies to new survivor players.

  • If the Devs nerf moris without touching toolbox speed nor keys, it will show that killers were right and that devs care more about survivor fun than they do killers. This will just end up alienating more killer players.

Devs can’t expect the game to be healthy when they cater to one side of the player base, while leaving the other side to rot in the stress inducing environment that they provide.

As for what the new Ruin changes are, just take a look at the patch notes, YouTube or one of the many threads complaint about it to see how they butchered it usefulness (and the reason why killers used it) in the beginning of a match.

This will just cause killers to make the game less fun for survivors since they will now have to tunnel and camp. There is really not much choice if they want to get a kill. Even good killers like Otz have to slug, and tunnel. God help you if you brought a key into one of his matches.

  • @Jukenobi said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/980572#Comment_980572

Children mad that someone took their favorite toy away. People really need to just relax and adapt to these changes. It's just a game after all...

It’s not the killers responsibility to make it fun for survivors. They have the right to play however they want. It is the Game Developers JOB to make it fun for all players. If tunneling and camping make it unfun for survivors, then maybe, just maybe, the devs should look at the core issues rather than bandaid the problems.

Indeed. I've got a metric butt ton of mori offerings between all my killers. Will I use them to kill all 4 survivors? Probably not, unless it's a team of blendys...but I will use it to tunnel and eliminate the first person out of the match ASAP.

I do that to blendys now. It’s hard enough to see them, once you’re in my sights you’re gonna die, unless one of your teammates are foolish enough to blind me. Then I’m going to continue to tunnel you, then tunnel and camp the flashlight turd.

I haven’t played killers enough to have many moris, but once I finish leveling them all up (My ocd won’t let me stop until I get them all to 50) I’m specifically going to target moris and op add-ons

  • @Actually_Jesus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/980329#Comment_980329

Which in turn, will put camping, tunneling, and now mori offerings on the rise.

Oh, I know I will be attributing to that. No point in playing nice when I have to exert as much pressure as I can.

Enjoy lots of survivors DCing before a match starts because they saw a hidden offering. Enjoy lots of 5 minute matches where the killer gives up and just afks. Enjoy all the basement campers, and one shot killers. Enjoy not being able to play because you were tunneled at the start of the match.

I’m not saying these thing never happened, because they definitely did, but it was no where near as often as forum complainers liked to complain. Now it’s just going to get worse, until devs nerf all of those things. Then killers will be less and less, and their rigged matchmaking won’t be able to remedy the long wait times.

  • It is a bad perk because it basically requires you to have another perk to make it useful. Perks should be useful on their own, not require perquisite perks.

  • New Survivors are supposed to die a lot, not have things handed to them. The point of playing a game like this is to get better with experience. When I started in October, I didn’t complain about Ruin, I just looked for the totem, gen tapped, or powered through it. Now, the only thing that will happen is games will go by faster.

What the devs should have done was to fix matchmaking, so people only face those of similar skill, but if they did that, it would destroy the wait times, which is why they’re going to hide ranks.

  • The problem with Ruin was no one was complaining about it. Before this great butchering, all the complaints on the forum were about how fast generators are being completed, or how killers are tunneling or camping too much.

The devs decided to ignore that and go neuter a killers play time so they could go play lobby roulette more.

I don't know...I've seen some amazing things done with French Toast. I've only ever seen waffles and pancakes in funny shapes.

Maybe I just really like eggs....lol.

Have you ever had a delicious Belgian waffle that is crispy on the outside but soft and chewy on the inside? It is delightful! Especially if you add some blanched peaches and homemade whipped cream on top!

Not saying French Toast is bad, I actually equally enjoy them. It just depends on my mood.

Also, I could live on eggs.

  • @TWiXT said:

Regardless of how they butchered her best selling point, Hag still remains a Damn good killer. Albeit very difficult to learn, once you get good with her she devastates survivor teams regularly and is high rank viable with her base kit. Sure Ruin was one of the more beneficial reasons to get her, but it should never have been the primary reason in the first place. Seriously, play her for about 20 hours, and you'll understand that your decision to purchase her Only for the sake of having Ruin was sorely misguided.

I don’t think my choice to purchase her for Ruin was misguided. I purchased her because I didn’t want to wait forever for Ruin to appear in the Shrine. I wanted Ruin because I was a new killer and matched went by way too quickly when I tried to play killer. The only times I got a kill was when I tunneled or when I faced a full squad of potatoes.

I was constantly paired up with survivors who were much better than me, and that’s still a problem with the current matchmaking. My choice was misguided because I thought Devs balances the game for both sides to have fun equally, but this recent change to ruin, and their unwillingness to change the current matchmaking (the fact that they want to hide ranks after a match adds to this) shows that what I thought isn’t the case.

Also, I can’t have fun when I can’t stand the point of view of the character. I do admit though, it is my fault, and I will do more research before I make a choice like this again.

  • Nope, French Toast = Waffles, as long as you use good bread.

  • @Carpemortum said:

I agree that ruin is.....being removed from my perk pool with this change, but as always, no.

You cant have a refund. You agree with ToS which says SOMEWHERE "subject to change". You paid for the right to play a part of it. You still have it. It's just changed since release.

Yea, you’re right. It was worth a shot asking. At least now I know not to spend any real money on this game.

  • @Jukenobi said:

Seems to me that everyone is going about these changes the wrong way, even Behavior. It is incredibly childish for the player base to ruin the fun for everyone by playing this way to spite the Devs.

Ruin allowed the Killers some breathing room when playing. Now that it’s gone, any competent group of survivors will be able to get the gens done in 5-6 minutes, unless they’re facing one of the few high mobility killers such as Spirit, Freddy, Hillbilly and sometimes Demodoggy.

Now, when I play killer, and someone unhooks a survivor, what’s the smarter choice for me to take? Go after the healthy one, who needs to be hit twice to down, or go after the unhooked one, who will down faster, needing only to be hit once, and will die faster on the hook because they were just hooked? I mean, I have no other decent way to slow the game down, what’s a better alternative to remove the stress?

The only time I tunneled is when it was obvious matchmaking matched me up with survivors way out of my rank, or in endgame. Now, expect to see more NOED, Insidious, Basement Bubbas, and lots and lots of salt in chat.

The meta for Huntress Is Ruin, Nurses, Bbq and Whispers.

    Ralph Umbra Scott

All the best huntress mains literally say it is arguably one of her most needed perks because if she gets a large map without it thats it. GG next game.

RIP Huntress, even though they butchered me, many of them were fun and chill players. I also loved being carried by her. The smell of her musk was that of wild jasmine. He powerful yet feminine shoulder pressed against my torso gave me unlimited feelings of euphoria.

Now expect to only see one shot sexy mamas. Mark my words, the game will take a turn for the worse for survivors. I myself will have to go back to being one with the corn and bushes, which is a shame because I was just starting to get used to being chased for more than 5 seconds.

I may also recommend The Last of Us

I forgot about Skyrim, I heard so much good about it but never tried it. Can it be played in 3rd person or is it first person? Not really a fan of not being able to see my character.

I wasn’t too much of a fan when the first Assassins Creed came out. The combat was too slow for me, I preferred games like Devil May Cry (I consider the original as one of my top 5 favorites of all time) and the remake of Ninja Gaiden.

Any other recommendations? I’ve been out of gaming for a while and I’d like to try something that has more meat to its story and characters. I may just buy all the Witcher games, but I’m thinking to read the books first.

The head dev suggested it during a dev stream because of growing complaints over bugs.

Ah, that makes sense. It reminds me of a Diablo 3 dev asking “aren’t you thankful” or in another instance “don’t you have cellphones?”.

Here I am, haven’t touched a Blizzard game in over two years, I’d hate for that to happen with this game. Luckily, I’m still enjoying survivor somewhat.

  • I’ve seen this posted a lot on the forums and I could taste the sarcasm leaking off of it every time. Could you tell me what the reference for this recommendation is from? Did some of the Devs of this game work on that game as well?

If you enjoy popping several at once, go for it!

Is it the most effective? No. But who cares? Fun > optimization ^^

Yes, I play more for fun these days. I can’t loop killers for more than a few seconds so I try to just find ways to entertain myself. Sometimes I’ll sneak up to a killer to try and surprise them, and then start twerking. It’s funny to put sneak a Ghostface and give them a startle.

Other times I just mess with teammates. The game gets boring doing the same objectives over an over. But now, for killers, they really don’t have much choice because the games will go too fast unless all of the survivors are potatoes or if they are just wanting to farm.

I expect to see more Spirits, Hillbilly’s, and Freddys from now on. They don’t need ruin to apply map pressure. It’s sad because I liked playing against a variety.

1 trap at the hook, and the rest in the area surrounding area? Yes.

But god, wasting so much time putting 10 traps down less than 10 meters away from the hook is something we all did when we played her the first time, and we only got away with it because the survivors also didn't know what to do... 😂

Well, I’m still a noob killer overall, and I still have fun setting my traps at a hook to was all my clones pop up at once.

Did it to a survivor who annoyed the crap out of me with a flashlight. They saw I placed every trap I had at their hook and I guess they didn’t have faith in their teammates to crawl and just suicided.

  • Devs will lose money if killers stop playing due to not having fun. Killers will not have fun when all their matches are less than 6 minutes. Killers will look for alternatives to DbD and survivors will be playing Lobby Simulator. Survivors will get tired of Lobby Simulator and find new games. Devs will lose money.

They need to balance the fun for both sides. Catering to survivors will break the game in the end.

Killers should have a fair chance at getting at least 1-2 kills in every match. That’s not possible on many of the maps since it can take forever for some killers to traverse them.

Base game’s been out on PC for a while, yeah, and we get Iceborne Thursday. No one in my friend group has had an issue running the game, even in the first couple of weeks past release when people were claiming there were a ton of problems with the port. That being said, they had numerous updates to fix issues lower end machines were having with it, and I don’t believe I’ve seen anything recent that’s complained about the port being bad. I’ve logged just over 450 hours in it (for reference I’ve done 850 hours in DbD) and that was all base game. Iceborne adding a whole second half to the game, revamping all the existing monsters and adding a dozen+ more...I’ll break 1000 almost certainly.

Okay, thanks for the info. My last computer died so I built one with a Ryzen 3700x cpu and a 1660ti graphics card, so I’m not too worried about being able to handle it. It’s not the top of the line build, but for my casual butt, it’s enough.

  • The only thing that will make the Devs care about killers enjoyment of the game is for all the killers, who don’t like the direction the devs are taking, is to stop playing. Not just stop playing Killer but to stop playing both roles.

The fact of the matter is that Survivor players are their cash cow since they’re the ones who buy the most cosmetics. Then new survivors are able to lure in their friends, get them to buy cosmetics too and then have fun by easily going through match after match, having fun at the expense of the killer.

I can’t blame them for wanting to make money, but when they completely disregard the fun aspect to player to play a Vital role in their game, they deserve the inevitable long queue times that will result (If killers walk the walk and not just talk the talk).

I still prefer playing survivor over killer, but if my queue times take longer and longer, I’m definitely going to find a new game.

If you haven’t played the base game (Iceborne is a second story that requires the first story to be played and beaten) they have a special armorset and weapon tree for each weapon designed to help people clear the story quickly (Read as: a bit OP and easy to craft/upgrade compared to most normal sets). Helps streamline the experience, though personally I think you miss out on some of the experience if you use them... (Defender gear, for reference).

I have never played it, but I did see a gameplay vid a long while back and thought it interesting. I just never gave it a deeper look due to it releasing on console and I only play PC (don’t own a console or tv <_<). Has the base game been released on PC and if so, does it run smooth?
