I'm playing on Ps5, no decently upkept game should be dropping and freezing if a Gen pops or someone is unhooked. If the so called next gen still has hardware issues then I can't help but question the game itself being in an extremely poor state. I shudder at the thought of how the Ps4 generation might still be. I stand by something I said before when the console issues were at an all time high, if a game like Red Dead Redemption 2 can run on a base system Ps4 with no issues, a game like Dbd having consistent frame issues that's been out for roughly half a decade on next Gen consoles is not acceptable

I've literally lost out on chases and using perks because of how bad the stuttering gets and I've been cucked out of downs I could've got cause the servers. They poorly optimize it so bad that literally any changes to the base game is a spin the wheel scenario on what's going to get broken for the next month(s). Will it be killer power/addons, survivors items, map spawns, literal game crashes, or my personal favorite, even more stuttering than usual

The last survivor perk that made any sort of impact on the meta is obviously Circle of Healing which was released on October 19th 2021, so more than a year ago.

Now let's look at what killer meta perks we got in since and also the perks that you can really see in your matches even if they aren't the most powerful ones

    Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance

    Pentimento

    Scourge Hook: Floods of Rage

    Call of Brine

    Merciless Storm

    Dissolution

    Darkness Revealed

Awakened Awareness (you can argue Superior Anatomy is good on some vault builds but I won't push it)

    Nowhere to Hide

If we even go before Mikaela that same year we got Starstruck, Deadlock, Lethal Pursuer, Eruption, Plaything

When I play killer I am a little overwhelmed and really happy actually with how many cool new perks we have that work so well with a lot of killers, I really think that they have been doing amazing job with perks for killers for a while now, ever since Trickster we at least got one cool new perk that can be seen in your average matches

For Survivor though, it's really sad, even with the nerf to the meta people are still using older perks like adrenaline, windows of opportunity, prove thyself, kindred and of course, the exhaustion perks which are all old (like 1 in 1000 survivor is using overcome these days)

The way this situation is even worse is when you realize even if the new killer has ######### perks, they are still a new killer with a new power that can be used with older perks, while Survivors are left to use the same old stuff

The problem is this. It's a 4v1 so 16 perk slots against 4. And if you add in the fact that communication exists in dbd, you have a system that allows you to run stacks of strong perks with communication in terms of pinpointing a killer's actions and give early warning. That's the strong part about survivors.

The way DBD balance works is if you give a side strong assets to win, you have to make appropriate changes so that the top killer and coordinated survivors can't actively abuse.

If you want an example of what I'm talking about look at CoH's two nerfs and Awakened Awareness' nerf before it hit live servers

Post 4k slaughter by a Blight I noticed they were a streamer so I went into their channel for a chat. In short they acknowledged:

    • Winning 95% of their matches
    • That matchmaking is broken
    • That Blight is broken (though they said it was only certain addons which I disagree with since, as they said, they win 95% of the time with or without those addons)

They said they play Blight because they have fun playing Blight, not because he’s broken or wins all the time.

So… they do something they know is unsportsmanlike and unfair just because they are allowed to and THEY have fun. Regardless of all the people they make NOT have fun because the killer and game are clearly broken. This is a pretty common argument amongst killers in this game. But here’s what this is also saying - they have no moral compass of their own to stop them from doing something wrong. The system they are playing in says it’s ok so they will go along with that since it allows them to do what they enjoy.

Does anyone not see what’s wrong here? Not see the obvious philosophical issue? People who allow themselves to go along with corrupt / broken systems are not free from responsibility. Especially when you’re not forced to go along with it. If you continue to play broken killers and don’t take steps to just play a fair game, you’re the problem. You can’t just blame the game and the unfair system. You have the freedom to make the game more fair by not playing the strongest killers and builds in the game and using the cheapest, easiest tactics. This is why survivors get angry at this game and killers. This is why the DCs and quits. It’s not just saltiness. It’s a complete lack of fairness and an abrogation of responsibility of both killers and BHVR. We want to play fair games, that’s all.

    Okay no let's dissect this.

    1. Blight isn't broken at his core. He's only problematic with a few of his add-ons (alchemist ring) like Nurse.

    2. Playing a killer isn't unsportsmanlike. I have no clue how you came to that conclusion. Also don't even try to whine about matchmaking since that's always been a thing. Not a new topic.

    3. We are not about to gaslight a community for playing the game they PAID for and want to have fun. This is interchangeable.

    4. Stop trying to use political discussion structures for a video game. Corrupt and broken systems isn't applicable to a video game.

    5. No killer is broken. You're facing good players and you're whining about it.

    6. Stop using the fair argument in an asymmetrical game. One side is always going to be at a disadvantage. You can nerf everything and it still won't ever be equal.

    Anything else?

  • Oh that's good. My prestige journey continues

  • @YOURFRIEND said:

..... What? I've never even heard of this, much less seen it.

It's a very recent thing. Pinhead can either stand on top of the box or stand in a doorway entrance like rpd library and block people from solving the box. It's an exploit

  • The rng is so inconsistent. I can either have 0 items or I can literally have 3 brown medkits, 2 yellow with hella addons to accompany them

  • @StarLost said:

Because, yeah - this one is grinding my grapes at present.

Queue up on Doctor (hate the daily, not the killer) and get a quick down. Don't hang around hook, run into a Nea and she makes a mistake, wastes her BL running into a wall and DCs. I say 'fine', as I brought a flan and let everyone farm for a bit before the Nea walked up to me, got hooked and Dwight got hatch.

Postgame, Nea complains at me for 'not ending' and threatens to report.

A few games later, I play Cenobite - box goes off and someone immediately DCs. I just decide 'okay sod it' and wipe everyone out ASAP to get to a proper game.

Of course postgame: "OMG killers sweaty in events'.

    Ahahaha, you just can't win.

Just play the game the way you want. You are the killer. You get to choose who lives and who dies so yeah

Here's an idea. Learn how to actually play the game, and not get in lockers right infront of the Killer - and surprising I even have to say this - Don't do generators right infront of the Killer. Do you know how dumb you sound right now?

So you didn't know about the generator thing that allowed people to get grabbed by Michael and not get moried like lockers and you're out here calling people dumb? Got it

  • @Defalt25 said:

As if this achievement wasn't hard enough already with the lockers, you cannot kill them in snowmen either, that's really nice, you have to wait until January to do this achievement or get survivors who aren't Grinch

Ah yes cause not wanting to be moried without even being hooked once or being chased = grinch

I love how whenever someone on this forum wants to defend something they often say "anecdotal evidence" as if that completely nullifies whatever point the person was trying to make.

    Well guess what? It doesn't.

Dead Hard is still picked 28% of the time according to one aggregate site (you'd probably call this meaningless anecdotal evidence as well, I've been down this road before) and has the highest pick rate of all survivor perks.

Even on this forum there is consensus that Dead Hard is still the strongest exhaustion perk in the game. Only a few argue that Sprint Burst is stronger and literally no one is here saying that Balanced Landing, Head On, Lithe, Overcome or Smash Hit are stronger than Dead Hard.

Dead Hard is still top of the survivor meta. Period.

Would you mind showing me this site? Forgive me but knowing how this forum operates, I'm not going to just believe someone without proof, which is why I said Anecdotal evidence. If you have any source of proof, I'll believe you.

Just...oh man, even Nemesis wasn't this overplayed.

That's because Nemesis has glaring issues gameplay wise that hinder him so hard that Wesker doesn't have. I could talk all about the design aspects

I'm no programmer, but I know there are ways to make one's programming easier to change in the future and harder to change. Guess which one BHVR chooses? The harder-to-change option because it's the most cost-effective at the time the decision is made.

I had to ask cause one simple addition or change somehow managed to make many people unable to even load into a game for lol reasons.

seeing a survivor automatically get a speed boost and health state after getting unhooked is not ok

or getting a free unbreakable with a speed boost, its a massive annoyance tbh but yes considering what survivors have its a bit balanced.

Id rather see someone get a health state as killer cause that means they were able to hold their own long enough to the end. Plus Terminus exists as a perk which is literally a better noed

  • @YOURFRIEND said:

Went from ruin undying pop to aura perks and gen kick perks. This is unequivocally a shift. Your entire post is based on a flat lie. I'm embarrassed on your behalf.

How is that a lie? The kick perks are the same concept of gen slowdown as ruin pop undying. And if you actually were paying attention, you'd know op said the PERKS changed but the idea of slowdown as a meta did not change.

  • @ByeByeQ said:

"All you can do is shake it up from time to time."

What a horribly flawed way to look at maintaining game. Sadly I think BHVR agrees with you.

But they do have another, better option. The can try to balance the game. I know it's a shocking idea, but hear me out.

They could divide perks into categories and then try to balance the perks in those categories. In the slowdown category they could have easily done this in 6.1.0 but not overnerfing Ruin and Pop and not overbuffing Eruption, Overcharge and Call of Brine. For Exhaustion perks they could buff Balanced Landing, Smash Hit, etc to bring them in line with Dead Hard and Sprint Burst.

We'd see much more varied loadouts if BHVR took this approach. Unfortunately they appear to be controlling the meta so players have to buy licensed DLC to get meta perks. This is especially evident when it comes to slowdown perks.

    I played this game yesterday:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/TWOONDYUKSWF/image.png

It certainly didn't feel like the survivor meta has changed much.

That's 1 game in your lobbies compared to the many people that play this game. Anecdotal evidence isn't that strong

You ask too much of BHVR. Never forget The Twins release. Never.

We are not bringing that back up. Just like first release Legion

  • The two killers mentioned for buffs are quite literally 2 of the most problematic killer designs we have already. Both suck at map pressure but are good at camping and forcing people to leave loops. Id argue we should buff killers that lack reliable chase power like Onyro an Freddy since a lot killers are weaker than Knight and Trickster

  • Yeah that'd be the day resign from DBD.

  • Hes strong but his abilities aren't problematic and boring to face (Knight). But because of how strong and fair he is to a point, he gets a lot of play. Sometimes too much play but still

    oh im sorry

    adrenaline is balanced

CoH is balanced, brand new parts are balanced, no no all of the most used survivor perks are extremely balanced and killer should just get gid

you know 2 Coh in one map and you got no time to remove them, SKILL ISSUE

dead hard near the pallet has no counter play, skill issue

clearly nothing is broken or out of the ordinary

something tells me you never touched a low tier killer before

But Adrenaline is like one of the more balanced perks that are decently strong. Everything else is quite ew to face as killer

Faced maybe 1 box afk Pig when it was still a thing. I knew exactly what to do against it because I'm actually in the community and know stuff as I talk about balance, and because it's similar gameplay to a tunneling Pig. Tunneling Pig, you do all the gens, all leave so the last guy with the head trap on gets hatch. Afk box Pig, you 99 the gens, do 5 pretty much one after the other, and then same as before. Hatch allows the head trapped person to escape. If it's Deadlock + the add-on that takes time off each time a gen is done, or 2 people had the same box she's afk at, oh well. But it wasn't like "omg, this is so game breaking, more than Nurse!"

That's not the point of the post. The whole idea was people have to force these playstyles because the killer is weak.

Just as a side note, I haven't seen a single TP Mummy Dwight since Halloween, during which he was semi common.

For all the fuzz, not a lot of people seem to be in the mood for seasonal cosmetics outside of the season. Interesting :>

There's a lot of people who play Jane like me who use her Hollywood Dress outside the event. You can't blanket statement stuff you haven't seen

  • I still live on as a Spirit main but my main problem with her is sound consistency. The 1 meter bubble of sounds feels awkward to handle

Just because the game is going poorly that doesn't mean you have to dc or give up.

I've had my fair share of bad games as killer and survivor and when I lost,I just kept playing even though I was frustrated or feeling demoralized.

Giving up wont make you feel better, but it sure as heck satisfying when you manage to turn a game around by not giving up.

As survivor I had games where the killers stomped us,but managed to escape through hatch or exit gate.

I see survivors dc so often over anything.

I dont like the killer I go againts?DC,Give up

I get found out first and chased?DC,Give up

    I get downed first?DC,Give up

No one comes for the hook save before second stage?DC,Give up

I'm on my last hook and I dont wanna give the killer the kill?DC

    Failed flashlight save?DC,Give up

And that's not even all of the reasons why survivors dc.

I see so many dcs that it makes me thinkg there's actually no dc penalty which is wild.

None of these are a reason big enough to warrant a dc or giving up,even if the game goes poorly, you gain nothing by giving up or dcing.

Do you secretly like play with me in solo queue? Cause I had a Rebecca get exposed by Ghostface and downed in seconds and she dcd

  • My thing is because I know people will tunnel, camp, yada yada etc., I realized why not run my Gen/Anti Tunnel perks. it's boring but effective. If one side is running perks to win, then I'm allowed to as well.

  • Sadako's only source of power is a condemned play style that the devs themselves in a live said int something she's supposed to force as a way of getting kills. It's a passive slowdown to look out for. It's the same philosophy of afk Pig which got nerfed for a reason.

Your assuming that people that aren't on these forums wouldn't also take issue with this. Also when I said majority I meant in these discussion threads. Although every single person I've talked to not on the forums think it isn't right either. We don't know how the entire playerbase would act because most aren't even aware yet. I can't wait for after January when people see these skins gone and are in for a shock because shocker most players don't bother to read the newsletter, which is clearly evident by the people on the forums.

Most of my playstation friends don't even play right now because of the bug that should've been fixed in hotfix one. So they didn't even know about old skins becoming time limited until I let them know.

Yea as a PlayStation user, I barely found out about this and it annoys me cause the skins like Yun Jin's pajamas aren't even Christmasy and I get to be gate kept for a while before having the opportunity to buy something I had access to before cause lol

How do you equate anti consumerism to cosmetic purchasing? Anti consumerism would be if they released a bug fix, but asked everyone to pay for the update. Cosmetics is just an accessory, that isn’t needed or required. Asking consumers to pay for something that just makes your character prettier isn’t anti consumerism. People just want to get free stuff for nothing.

Have you been ignoring people just to make that claim? No one said they wanted free stuff. They said they want to have the OPTION to purchase content that wasn't time gated all year round

  • I do this thing where I play Ayesha Erotica and transport my mind to a state where literally nothing bugs me. They want to waste doing this so I'm gonna play Big Juicy and just 💃

I am mostly killer main (switch to the survivor when I get bored), but honestly, it's astonishing how weak mentally survivors have gotten lately. DCS, giving up on hooks, being entitled to lots of things they don't deserve, and absolutely crying about every little thing.

The most ironic thing is that these survivors lose the game by themselves - it's not even killer playing mean/nasty. There have been so many instances where survivors prematurely give up even if the game is completely winnable from the survivor's side. And then other survivors trash talk killer even though the guy who killed himself is completely at fault for losing a very winnable game. All he had to do was hit an easy skill check for 20 seconds more to win the game for his team.

So what is up with survivors lately? Why are they so easy to give up and easily ruin the game for their teammates?

Maybe killing yourself on the hook should be removed (besides 2nd -> 3rd stage progression), and harsher DC penalties should be implemented?

That's quite a bold statement. Unfortunately posts like this have heavy bias that doesn't actually mean you care about something, you're fueling an us v them mentality

  • @Seraphor said:

A survivor DCing also screws over the killer.

Survivors are literally a resource for the killer, so one less survivor means less hooks, less sacrifices and less BP.

I was recently doing the "sacrifice 12 Survivors" challenge, which as we all know is bugged and registers one kill less than you actually make. So a DC is limiting me to two potential kills, but of course a hatch escape makes that one kill.

Sometimes the fairest option is just to end the game as quickly as possible, if the game is going that way anyway. Why waste 10 minutes letting survivor live when repairing all the gens is futile, when I can take my 'two minus one' sacrifices and a hatch escape, and everyone can move on asap.

    This is definitely a take
