  • I always suspect Frankie's so I usually stash my item away for later use with Built to Last.

That's just irrelevant, going down *ever* is a natural part of the game and dh still has to be timed correctly to get value, while sb and lithe don't

DH negates the going down part longer and like I said requires you to lose chase twice. The other exhaust perks don't stop the inevitable of going down.

  • I was wrong too. Because regression got uh...changed, I have a new Spirit build I actually like. Pop, Pain Res, Stbfl, and Deadlock. It's not really hard regression and requires me to down people to get value

Actually the number of flashbangs and mines alone makes it worthwhile. That and the look of the survivor who doesn't understand what's happening. Priceless.

Tbf, those moments are ******* hilarious. Lots of things make me ugly chuckle

I'm still salty about that change

Scorching Summer BBQ: I don't have much to say about this one other than it was a cool event and it would be nice to see it return.

Map Filters/Horror asthetic: I feel like the game has kinda lost it's horror roots. I understand it never really was a "horror game", but it still used to feel more spooky. It would be nice to see the return of the old blue tint on MacMillain maps/Haddonfield or the thick grass and actual fog that the game used to have come back. Maybe add night/day versions of each map, sorta like how Freddy's power changes the lighting and sky.

Survivor locomotion: They have changed the second survivor locomotion 3(?) times in the games history I think? But I felt it was in a pretty solid place before 4.5.0. I don't think the new animations are bad or anything like that, they are certainly more realistic than the old ones, and some of them I would say I much prefer over the old, like the incap and crouch animations. The main thing I miss is the fluidity of old survivor locomotion, they use to feel so nice to loop with. Something about how surivors used to rotate and turn on their shoulders and lean into turns as they went around objects or rotate their upper body as you looked behind yourself. The new ones are good but they are so rigid and slow feeling, I wish they were adjusted just a bit more to feel more natural and flow-y, though I understand it would take a lot of work, it would be nice.

The devs have really been listening to the community on a lot of stuff recently, so they will probably maybe read this(?) You guys are doing great work, and I am looking forward to seeing where the game goes in the coming years. All of this doom and gloom stuff is exhausting.

(Also make envelopes apply to killers too, and retire map offerings/rework them)

    Thanks for reading everyone!

What perks would you say are Overrated and underrated for either side.

The ones that initially come to mind

    Overrated survivor: Deliverance

Yes, getting yourself off a hook can be nice but it's a perk that's one time use and you have to have specific situations to get it to trigger or at least be worth triggering. It's not a trash perk, but it's not amazing in my book. Just...fine.

    Underrated survivor: red herring

It's not a perk that's going to help you score big but it's a perk that can help distract the killer away in several situations (whether it's to get the hatch or to help take pressure off teammates who might get in chase soon, or lure a killer to a gen that isn't important).

    Overrated killer: corrupt intervention.

Yes, it can be a good way to allow a killer (especially a slow early game one) to have a little less pressure early game. Personally even those killers I'd much rather have a build towards mid to late game focus since the start will still be slow even without corrupt intervention. It's a fine perk, but it's limited value isn't that great to me

    Underrated killer: unnerving presence

This obviously goes well with doctor, but it can work well with several killers honestly. Having skill checks trigger eith a greater chance to fail skill checks can be pretty significant, especially with the slower heal teams is an additional boost. I won't run this on the majority of my killers but it's one that has a place beyond doctor

    Underrated Survivor: Reactive Healing

Helps out in healing when needing to gen endgame saves and with the right build, heals up in chase easier. And saves healing time, effectively cheating the self heal nerf.

    Overrated Survivor: Bond

There's so many aura revealing perks in game to try so hearing this perk constantly is annoying.

    Underrated Killer: Gearhead

People say gearhead is so good yet it's still not that commonly run in games. But it does feel nice on chase killers and helps to switch targets for better pressure.

    Overrated Survivor: Deadlock

We already know what it does and why it's decent. Move on

  • I wouldn't have a problem with sm players if they didn't constantly bm every single game. Yes slug me as the last person alive for my entire bleed timer while humping the entire time. Even more proof of her holding people hostage

  • @1ettuce said:

sb and lithe are infinitely more crutchy than dh was. they give you loads of free distance every time where dh could often be easily countered

SB and Lithe doesn't require you to lose a chase to get value. That makes DH even more crutchier simply because of how to activate it

  • I play Nemesis cause 2nd main and I throw in flans and I get a healthy boost of bp. Granted I chase incentives but yeah

I would absolutely love if any/all of my boi Wraith got his perks reworked, only one that ever sees usage is Shadowborn by Huntress or Blight

    Agreed

  • @Slurpin said:

He can definitely use some buffs. At the very LEAST in the addon category. Like seriously, almost all of them are garbage. And somehow they managed to nerf Marvin's blood, the ONLY good addon.

I love the suggestions, but we all know these won't happen. Nemesis is popular and good enough to not warrant a rework. I mean some killers desperately need one and they haven't been touched.

    Minor POSSIBLE changes would be:

T3 tentacle can now hit both pallets and survivors, and can hit through survivors. While this does make camping stronger, which is bad, it does essentially give him a powerful engame tool and this character is all about becoming stronger and stronger until the end of the game. T3 should also damage survivors whether they're infected or not. But in exchange is should be made a bit harder to reach.

T1 should be quick to get out of, he is just SO bad early game it's actually unfun. Or just remove it, it's as useless as Myers' T1.

T2 is honestly fine as it is.

I REALLY wish we could get a rocket launcher, but it'll unfortunately always be dreams.

I have no trust in making Zombie AI better so I won't even suggest anything there. I don't think being able to place them is a good idea as it'd just make Nemmy a more annoying Knight.

I'm mad he only has 1 good addon that got nerfed a while ago

Self care heals at 0.35 charges per second. Botant increases your speed by 50% to 0.525 charges per second

    16/ 0.525= 30.5 seconds.

No mangled ofcourse, if mangled is in play it takes 38 seconds

Half it if you get reactive healing to proc once before healing

So that means my Reactive build is saved. Nice. The medkit changes didn't exactly hurt me so glad to see I can pull this off

I believe we all have our triggers when it comes to gameplay. Mine are bodyblocking to an extend and sabotage. I hate when someone sabotages me to the extend that I'll remove said player as soon as possible. It can be rationalised that it is for game efficiency but truly it's purely emotional. Getting sabo'd feels like you're about to dig in in your plate and someone comes in and vomit all over it. It's sickening. But it's a me problem.

Indeed. The rewards posted state "When the community reaches a combined 55M points, everyone receives 500K BPs, 500 Iridescent Shards, and 5 Rift Fragments!" 500k BPs is like ~2hrs of trials, 500 shards is less than two level gains post lvl 50, and 5 rift fragments is one tome entry.

For a community-wide/global event the rewards seem like an unenthused dismissing hand wave.

Medkits were near-universally considered too strong before the nerf. Self-healing is incredibly-strong in this game because not only does it mean that only 1 survivor is taken off of a gen to do it, but it further saves time because you can just do it whenever you want instead of having to look for another survivor in the first place. Being able to fairly easily bring a medkit with 2 or more heals into literally every game was an insane amount of pressure if even one or two survivors did it, and if 3 or all 4 survivors had even 2-heal medkits then it pretty much shut down any sort of hit-and-run playstyle and meant the killer HAD to get the down since only an injury meant nothing.

The nerf meant that 2-heal medkits are the absolute strongest now (not including perks like Built to Last), require an iri addon thus making them not -as- viable to bring every game, and made it so that self-healing isn't -as- absurdly efficient as it was. That said you can still have 4 survivors with 2-heal medkits and it can still bring a lot of pressure for the survivor team, it just isn't a no-brainer to always run a medkit every single game.

I'd still argue medkits are the strongest survivor item behind Brand-New-Parts Commodius toolboxes.

Built to Last stays in my main healing build

Selfcare+botany ironically enough is more efficient now.

30 seconds alone vs 16 seconds with 2 or 32 gen time.

Not to mention the time you save not running to a teammate. And you get faster altruistic healing on top.

It does cost an extra perk slot and bond gives more benifits then just finding someone to heal you.

I think both options are pretty viable now. Both with ups and cons.

Are you sure self care + Botany is 30 seconds? I don't want to cuck myself if I pair it with Reactive Healing

People are allowed to think she is well designed. It's subjective, not objective.

Do not confuse the opinions of the majority for objective facts.

But she is poor designed. She's has barely a chase power that's essentially gone if the survivor is injured so exposure doesn't work. Her tracking feature is lackluster. Legion has a better feature that doesn't require activation of a device. She only excels in 1 thing.

Remember: you can make these stronger but have the other perks in mind, too.

Perks like Poised shouldn't need a downside to the perk. It's already limited by the amount of gens you complete and assuming you're the one doing gens. Plus it doesn't hide aura so that's already a hard counter

So I'm biased because I'm saying keep all the changes in the game the same, except change 1? It's not biased to know that starting a chase healthy and starting a chase, out of position and injured, is bad for every survivor and boring to every killer that wants more than just a 4K. The chases are what make the game fun. Not counting u of course, I'm sure your the best looper regardless.

I love how you want to strawman argue me while being biased with that 4k comment regarding killers and trying to come for me over looping. Instead of attacking like a loser, how about not complain to the forums trying to gain sympathy over playing the video game

  • @Sharby said:

I personally find it to be extremely unfun to play vs, especially in an uncoordinated team. And I've hated it even during the gen-kick meta. But I've seen several praises for it so I thought I'd have a directed conversation about it.

Before the dead-hard nerf, anti-healing builds centered around this playstyle were tolerable because if I had good timing I could force a 2-healthstate chase anyways. I know how to play injured and can usually hold my own even without DH.

After the nerf though, on certain maps, it feels so tiresome having a 0.1s window to react to a silent bell wraith 1-tapping you from around the corner. And its gotten to the point where I usually just go next after they hook me.

The only counter and probably the reason why the strat isn't viable in a competitive setting is just to have all 4 survivors spread out and communicate when they see the killer. This obviously rarely ever happens in solo-queue. And its super frustrating to just watch a team bleed-out from everyone being too scared to touch gens.

I do think the strategy should be nerfed, but only after killers are given an alternative meta. Which at present there isn't one, so I'm very understanding.

    Thoughts?

Honestly it's fine. Hit and run usually means no hard tunnel and camping for pressure and requires the killer to go out of their way to make it work. The only annoying part is map offerings but that's a separate issue

There is a huge difference between acting in a certain way and keeping it to yourself and bragging about it, so why should I not call out someone for being scummy? For some reason killers find justification to tunnel someone out of the game over the slightest sign of altruism. Literally got tunneled out of a game for a sabo play, how dare I deny him the hook, how dare I get a pallet save, how dare I get a beamer save and how dare I use a mechanic that is part of the game. So by your logic I should just roll over and die so I don't upset the killer that can't handle a play that caused him slight discomfort. Give me a break.

All you're doing is strawman arguing me and bringing up personal anecdotes when A. no one asked, and B. You're still trying to justify attacking someone over something the majority of people accept as a possibility. All you're doing is complaining to me about how other people choose to play the game. Stop embarrassing yourself. Crazy how I have to deal with weirdos on my day

I actually never really understood the thing about proxy camping, though. As you said, its not that a big thing in the grand scheme of things. Usually when the killer is proxy camping ,you can still sometimes get a unhook done, but the killer has the chance to get into a chase afterwards, even if he couldn't interrupt the unhooking.

I usually proxy camp, when the survivors all play stealthy and leave the hook the second they get a whiff of my terror radius, I mean, in this situations patrolling the gens is just doesn't doing anything, so proxy camping is like the logical choice to do. And its nowhere nearly as obnoxious as propper face camping.

That's exactly my point. Nothing wrong with proxy camping but pretending it doesn't exist just to create a narrative feels wrong. No shame in trying to win but people gotta own it.

  • @Akumakaji said:

The thing with all this perks, though is, that you usually can't use them ON COMMAND on the very spot you need them, something that separated DH from every other exhaustion perk. No matter how much out of position you were or how much you walked yourself into a sticky situation, DH gave you a shot ON THE SPOT, right then and there. And the better players got on using the perk, the more obnoxious and oppressive it got.

A vault for Lithe might not be hard to find, but you can't just Lithe every time you need it, AND you usually can't save it for later in the chase, as slow vaulting will usually get you hit. SB is the only perk that can sometimes, somewhat be used on command, ie by 99% it, but thats hardly a regular occurence and such a high skill thing to do, that I am still alwas impressed when it happens. Thats why the front loaded nature if this perks feels much less obnoxious and enervating then DH did.

As I said, some peeps might ask for nerfs, but this is just a vocal minority, just count the number of daily threads you get.

It's like you're just looking for a fight and to dismiss everything I've said with vague excuses and words you think sound scary.

That's exactly what you did. You tried to undermine the topic of proxy camping simply to slander and paint survivors as whiny babies.

Yes; YOU said one thing. Someone else said it was something else.

This proves it's undefined, because people don't have a shared, solid idea of what 'proxy camping' is. It's different for everyone because it's a made up buzzword (buzzphrase?) to allow Survivors to act outraged and pretend some rule or code of honor was broken.

Again, what you're doing is intentionally finding a way just to slander people. In fact, a majority of people including content creators have given the same definition to what proxy camping is so no it's definitely defined for the most part. If you need to rant then that's fine. Stop slandering other people while trying to act better than the people you slander. You aren't any better

Proxy camping is a made up concept so Survivors could continue to scream that Killers were 'camping' and pretend their made up rulebook had any validity.

    Lets face facts:

    • Killers facecamped. Survivors rightfully complained that it was unfair Killers could stand still and block all unhooks. It was changed.
    • Then Survivors decided a Killer being near the hook was still improper, screamed about camping, and demanded BHVR do something to enforce this new definition of camping, since facecamping was now not possible.
    • Then, when Killers would come back to a hook after hearing an unhook; Survivors wanted to scream 'Camping!" but realized that no; the Killer had left. So they invented 'Proxy camping' and continue to pretend this broke some rule.

Also; you just proved it's an undefined concept and then claimed it's valid; You claimed it's close enough to 'force a trade'. Someone ELSE claimed 'If you can see the Survivor from any distance; you're proxy camping'.

So, right there, it's proven it's a made-up concept that players scream is real while giving conflicting definitions because it does not actually exist with a set definition.

I didn't prove it's an undefined thing. I specifically said if you're hovering around the hook area to force a trade, that's proxying. You physically cannot deny that when the term proxy means around/close to. I don't understand all this backlash when proxy camping isn't even that big a deal in the grand scheme of things. And judging by your tone, I don't think you created this thread for a good hearted discussion. I think you did it simply to create division and your words prove that.

Before you try to repeat yourself, I specifically said hovering around the hook just to force a trade not leaving the area and happening to see the notification because people got too greedy and decided to farm the unhooked survivor

  • @NoHookDC said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3416562#Comment_3416562

It would be if I did not know where anyone was. I mean, what's smarter?

    1. Keep hunting for people I have 0 idea about.
    2. Go back to the loud noise notification and hope they are healing or I see scratch marks I can chase.

Also; proxy camping' is not real. It's, once again, a fake phrase Survivors invented to complain. 'He was camping!" "He left the hook. How was he camping?" He was PROXY camping!"

And there are times Survivors unhook when I am walking away, and the bodyblock happens. Quit acting like the Killer broke some rule in order for this to happen.

I'm so tired of people like you name shaming over this game while conveniently engaging in toxicity yourself. Proxy camping is a thing when the killer is hovering around the hook to force a trade. Let's not lie just to shame people

You can hear their screams? that is an impressive tech kit

Joking aside, sometimes people do it as gratitude for the person who unhooked them? It depends on the context but if it was me, and I got downed by the killer for body blocking after unhook, I wouldn’t consider it tunnelling at all. It’s a risk and if the risk fails, there can’t be any complaints. I don’t think it’s a toxic situation for either side. Just a risk and one that can either buy a moment for the unhooked (this could even be a friend who is playing together) as gratitude or sometimes just an instinctual protective move.

I think someone complaining about being tunnelled because if that is being unreasonable.

What I don’t appreciate is tarring all survivors with the same brush. This forum is full of them v us and this kind of post just adds fuel to the seething hatred killers mains have for survivors.

    framing it as:

    Survivors: say x y z

is tarring all survivors and ridicules people who mains survivor and will

illicit a response like mine at best, or worst, turn people more toxic in game because of the us v them mentality it breeds.

I really wish that while the surv is under basekit BT he/she has no collision with the killer. So, it cannot be abused by any of the sides and give both a fair chance at the game (can't bodyblock to prevent a hit from the killer in another surv/ killer can't bodyblock the unhooked surv into a corner until the BT ends)

You'd think such an easy change would be in place. But we may have to discuss endgame cause it could... actually no never mind. Solid idea

I only bodyblock if my savior is dead on hook and I can still take aggro. Other than that, I'm going to leave. I already have enough problems as is

Sunk cost and because there's not really any alternatives.

I've been enjoying Dead Island 2 (although I think it's turning me into a psycho) and Jedi Survivor.

I've been all over Persona 5 and Overwatch 2. I'm so close to summoning Lucifer again

I think for a lot of people, dead by daylight has become a social tool, which is great.

I have made many friends playing dbd, and as bad as the game is right now, sometimes it's nice to just sit on discord and play with my friends. 9 times out of 10 we aren't even talking about the game, we're talking about something in our lives or hobbies or whatever.

As bad as the game is, it is a great tool to meet people

I love swf chatting. Rarely do we ever talk about the game like that. Pretty sure we talked about childhood crushes in a Nurse game
