  • Devs were talking about Prestige Rewards, but no information were given so far. I think it will be something really minor so that people who stockpiled Add Ons or Items on their Characters dont feel forced to lose it.

I can imagine it being Charms which show the Prestige Level of the Character so that other players can see that you prestiged the Character without having to use the Bloody Cosmetics.

In general, I dont think that prestiging wastes so much BPs. The amount is pretty small compared to getting all Perks on a Character.

Sometimes they are even brand-new accounts.

I mean, thats the logical thing to do - create an account in the Forum of a game you say you will never play again.

  • Oni is the stronger Killer, even before Billy got the Overheat-Mechanic (and if the Billy was not using Insta-Saw or Crack Billy). But Billy has his power all the time.

I personally enjoy Billy more, never got the hang on Oni so far, but since I am currently levelling him up, I will play him more in the near future.

    Let's say they:

    - removed all slowdown perks

    - and replaced them with a fixed Early Game mechanic

    - while also buffing weaker killers and nerfing overly strong killers to make all of them more equal in power

    - and made it mechanically impossible to camp/tunnel DURING the early game phase making it impossible to turn the match into an easy 3 v 1 match

Would you consider that a well designed early game? Just curious

Yes, I would say so. Giving Killers time to prepare is fine. I dont think that it is needed, but I am also running Corrupt Intervention on almost all of my Killers to have this early game slowdown, and I think it is ok to use a Perk Slot for something like that.

If it would be Basegame Slowdown Mechanic during the early game, fair enough. The thing I worry about the most is that while weaker Killers will get a benefit, strong Killers might become too oppressive. If that is balanced out, completely fine with that.

(But I also think it is quite logical that the early game phase ends at the point where one person is downed/hooked. At this point (the latest) the Killer has his own Slowdown already and the pace of the game slows down significantly)

  • I dont mind it being scrapped, I dont think it is needed. And the Devs thought so as well before they came up with that during a Livestream.

Thing is, if they implement that, I hope they nerf a bunch of stuff on the Killers side. While it is true that weaker Killers like Trapper or Clown (if we ignore that he is next up on the list for a Rework) can benefit from it, the same goes for Freddy, Spirit and other really strong Killers. So those should be nerfed in return.

And well, stuff like Ruin/Undying should also not be ok at this point.

Of course all depending what exactly they come up with.

  • I complete every Rift without any problems. So I dont need to buy any Rift Passes (except for the very first one).

And I buy cosmetics if I like them. If not, then not, lol.

  • The only thing that I wish would be changed are his animations. Back when they changed it, it felt really disgusting while they were bugged, so I did not play Billy that much. They are somewhat ok, but they feel odd for me. I dont know what it is, I cannot describe it, but since they changed the animations, Billy feels less enjoyable for me, he feels wrong.

I dont think that anything else needs to be changed (at least for me). Whenever I pick up BIlly, I usually do alright (like I got the 2 Chainsaw-Hits in 1 game challenge on my first try). And I dont really care about Overheat, since it rarely affects me and I also dont care about the Add Ons, since I did not use them for ages before, and now that they are not as good, I will not start to use them.

  • Its a problem of the Rank Reset. Players dont get set back at all, if you were Rank 4 before Rank reset, you get set back 1 Rank, which is not even a Reset.

Before, you had quite good games during the first 3 weeks after Rank Reset, close before Rank Reset you had worse games, because the not so good players ended up in Red Ranks. Now they are Red Rank basically instantly.

This goes for both sides, the number of bad Survivors and bad Killers increased a lot over the past months.

And what was the reason for the change of the Rank Reset? Because players who dont play much cannot achieve the same things like players who play more. Yep. That was the reason. Something which is the case in every Onlinegame. Great, eh?

  • This is not encouraging diversity this is forcing diversity.

You would encourage diversity if other Perks will be as strong as the Meta-Perks but at least on the Survivor-side, there was no strong Perk since Dead Hard, you are basically fine with the Base Game and the Halloween-DLC. If more good Survivor Perks would be released, you would see more diversity.

Same for Killer, Undying changed the Meta, the Perks of The Twins will most likely not have any impact at all (if they stay the same as on the PTB).

But forcing people to change the Perks they paid and grinded for is simply wrong. Let alone that this would only really affect Survivors, because as Killer, you can switch the Killer after a few games and play your favorite Perks on that Killer without any problem, if they are all different than the ones before. E.g. I could play 5 games as Pig and if my Perks get locked at this point, I could play Spirit without any problem, since they dont share any Perks for my Builds.

But also - players should not be forced to play different Killers, if they dont like.

Restrictions like that will make the game quite unfun in my opinion, everyone should be able to run what they like at all time.

Fair point actually. The last person would just hide which would get annoying. I still don't think anyone deserves to escape in a scenario where no gens were completed but eh I guess that's reason enough. Just another demonstration of bad game design I suppose :/

I mean, maybe you dont deserve to kill them? Maybe they were the one decent Survivor you were not able to catch, while the other 3 were Potatoes?

Even if they escape, you clearly won... The focus on the 4K is way too big in this community.

But yeah, it is mainly to give an end to the match. If you were unlucky, that guy would just stealth around which would force Killers to use Whispers in every game, because otherwise there might be situations where the Survivor will just hide forever.

??? It's getting changed in the next mid chapter patch, the devs haven't touched it since they gave it a unique animation.

It will get reworked to work on Dedicated Servers. But the Devs did not give any information when this will happen.

Given the fact that it took them over 6 months for the last batch of Perks to be reworked, I doubt it will be in the next Midchapter.

  • If you were Red Rank long ago, you should not have a problem being in Red Ranks currently. It just became easier for Killer, so if you were in Red Ranks months or years ago, you will most likely do fine now as well.

We have said officially (on Twitter) that The Nightmare on Elm Street chapter will be live on PS5 with the next major update - but the exact date is not given.

Good to know, just for anyone else, this is the Tweet:

    https://twitter.com/DeadByBHVR/status/1326962428152864770

But it would be pretty nice if that would be announced ingame or on the Forums/Discord as well. Like, I follow the Twitter-Account and did not see that because it was just a reply to another post. Others who dont follow Social Media will not know it at all.

Having it ingame will most likely also help your Support because they might get less "Where are my Characters?"-post from players who "lost" Freddy/Quentin.

  • @Psychedelic said:

Currently it says "Earn 1 Bloodpoints in the Deviousness category", what?

Yeah, they fixed it that way. Probably was easier to just adjust the value to 1 (same for the Survivor-Challenge where you have to get Objective-Points, this was bugged as well) than to fix it properly. Which is fine.

Some Killers were bugged, others not. E.g. I did not get many Deviousness with Clown or Myers, but Huntress worked fine.

Generator speed should be based off of how many survivors there are alive at a given point. The more survivors you have, the longer it would take.

So you want to punish the Survivors for playing well? Or give the Killer free Slowdown for playing poorly?

They said that Freddy and Quentin will come to Switch. I guess they will come back to Playstation as well around the same time.

(Rumours are that this will happen when the Chapter goes live, but no official announcement yet)

  • "The killer is not weakening anyone or taking anything away."

The Killer is taking away my game I have queued up for. And I dont care about the reason, if they think they lost or if they feel bullied, they might DC, but will at least receive a penalty. Last time I saw a Killer DCing was when he got slammed by a Pallet while carrying a Survivor. Which is his own fault.

And well, to use your logic - if another Survivor DCs I can at least play the game and get some points (not even a small amount, if the Killer is playing chill at this point), even tho the game is most likely lost at this point. If the Killer DCs, I get the BPs I got (which is most likely not a huge amount), a small Quitter Bonus and thats it.

  • @Mastermind said:

"Yeah, can I know who the Killer is then? I dont want to play against Spirit or Hag for example."

Quit mixing apples with oranges. All of the information I mention is currently freely available to the killer.

The survivors don't know who the killer is and that shouldn't be changed. My suggestion isn't changing anything. Just potentially automating the process of leaving a lobby that doesn't fit the killer. The killer is perfectly able to do this to their heart's content but that will in turn waste everyone's time, because if a killer sees survivors with a setup they don't want, they can leave and requeue, which lengthens wait times for the survivors. (Probably not by much, but that depends on the amount of players playing.)

I have seen your other post about not having a DC-penalty as Killer, so I think you are REALLY biased.

IF you want to DC because you think that you wont have fun, take the penalty.

IF you want to lobby-dodge because you are afraid of a brown Medkit, you have the increased waiting time.

If you dont want to play the game, then dont expect that it will be made easy for you so that you get your preferred games. If you think you can only win against Survivors without Items, then at least spend the time dodging those Lobbies.

EDIT: Also, a big point: If this option exists there would be no reason for Killers to allow Survivors to bring Items. Which just increases Queue Times for Killers and Survivors (who use items).

  • IF anything is problematic (IMO it is not as problematic as people claim it to be, I almost never get hit by DS and when I get to use my DS, I am tunneled 99% of the time) than it is Unbreakable paired with DS.

Unbreakable is a more problematic Perk than DS because it is useless most of the time but can be a complete gamebreaker when used.

The biggest problem with DS is that not everyone is running it. Because when the Killer tunneled the first time and no DS was used, the Survivor is basically dead at this point because they will get tunneled again - which will reduce the chances of the remaining Survivors by a lot.

The only counter is keep away from Pallets which isn't always going to be the case.

You should not go through Pallets in the first place anyway. Its not like Pallets become a risk just because of Power Struggle. The biggest impact it will have is that it will be another reason to not go through Pallets while carrying a Survivor.

It will most likely not even be used.

  • @Tsulan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1749987#Comment_1749987

    I agree.

I never understood, why people were so adamant about getting dedicated servers.

I mean, the theory sounded great.

But in the end, the problems with P2P were still present, just hidden (e.g. bad internet connections of Killers are hidden from Survivors, Lagswitching is still possible on both sides) and new ones got introduced (bugged Perks and Killer Powers, grabs broken for months on both ends).

So overall, Dedicated Servers were a step back.

  • "Or maybe you don't want to play against survivors who take items at all."

Yeah, can I know who the Killer is then? I dont want to play against Spirit or Hag for example.

Items are part of the game. If you decide to not play against Items in general or certain Items, you can dodge your Lobby and have longer waiting times in return. This is fine.

  • They are fixing Dead Hard, it is one of the Perks which get reworked in the future (probably 6 months or so, if I look at the last batch of Perks) which the main purpose of the Rework to make it work on Dedicated Servers. No idea if they will also change its effect, would be a shame if there would be even less variety in Survivor Builds afterwards, but thats something where we just have to wait.

Regarding Coup de Grace, this Perk was designed under Dedicated Servers, unlike Dead Hard which was designed under P2P (meaning the Killer had 0 Ping). And it is most likely easier to implement something on Dedicated Servers than changing something to work with Dedicated Servers (even tho, it takes them far too long IMO).

  • Yeah, dont worry, its now easier for Killers to have Add Ons. Survivors lose theirs and it is way harder to get specific Add Ons since Survivors get way less BPs and have 3 times as much Junk in their Bloodweb.

Like, I get 5 Bag Add-Ons with my Trapper in 1 Bloodweb (which is 1 game with BBQ usually, so I have 5 games of Bags) but try to get a Low-Amp Filament as Survivor.

  • Well, thats subjective. You can also say that 1000 Realms is not so much.

  • While I would love to have new Maps, we have 15 Realms with 35 Maps currently. This is already a huge variety.

  • While I like the idea of doing something to the Z-Block (its really laughable), I dont think that Freddy needs any Buffs. In fact he is the Killer who needs them the least.

Also, a thing which would be the case - the duration would have to be really short. Otherwise I can imagine it becomes just more boring to play against Freddy. He places a Snare, you either have to avoid it (which is an unnecessary time-waster) or if you step on it, you are forced to do nothing for a Period of time. And really, nothing. I can also imagine that this would be pretty annoying as Hit-and-Run-Technique - Freddy spams Snares at a Loop, at some point you will step in one and afterwards he goes away.

He gets free Slowdown and you are forced to just wait out a timer. Could be ok once or twice, but if it would be like 30 seconds, it gets really annoying if you cannot do anything.

With Victor it is different, because you actually do something to get rid of the Status effect.

  • This happens when the Map has not reached the minimum amount of Pallets. First the Tiles get placed and Pallets are distributed. If the minimum number of Pallets is not reached, they will be put closer to each other. So you had Maps which had the minimum number of Pallets and more Tiles which dont spawn Pallets (T/L-Walls).

I have seen 4 Pallets really close to each other a few days ago. But only one Jungle Gym, the rest were T/L-Walls (on Groaning Storehouse).

  • Well, a big point is that payment on an international basis can be difficult to handle.

  • I rather have cheap (or even free, when it comes to original Chapters) DLCs and expensive Cosmetics than the other way around. You dont need Cosmetics to play, as long as Content is 100% optional, it is fine if it costs more.

  • @sekkima said:

Oh, maybe they should ask Fornite, CS GO, Overwatch (game already dead due to taking so long to fix issues, like DBD), Halo, Warzone ... just about any game.

It's really ridiculous, we've been dealing with this problem for a year now and they can't fix it?

The thing is, DBD was build as P2P. They switched to Dedicated Servers years afterwards (which, in retrospect, is a mistake IMO, because it did not really fix anything but caused a lot of new problems like Powers/Perks not working, vaults being broken for a long time, no option to back away from laggy Killers since you only see your own Ping) and first wanted to have the Hit Detection Killer-sided.

This will stay, but there will be a sanity Check done by the Server. When they first implemented it, it had some problems (e.g. Huntress was not able to hit Hatchets in close range), so they removed it. There was a 24 hour-Test a few weeks ago, that went quite well.

IMO they should at the Killers Ping in the Lobby until they re-implemented the Hit Validation (and it is working properly), because this is the biggest issue currently. Before, you knew that you were going against a 300 Ping-Killer and would likely not play that game, but now you just see that you have 40 Ping to the Server.

Questionable Hits will not be removed tho. I guess they only will remove the really bad cases and VPNers. But if two people are playing with like 100 Ping to the Server, you cannot really do something about it, since none of those Pings is super-high to begin with.

(And if I look at EU Servers, Russians are also playing there and there is no way that they can have a low Ping like 30-50 what I have most of the time, because it is simply not possible from that distance. And you cannot exclude those players, just because they live far away from a Server)

Buttercake was my fellow felix profile pic pal ;(( I hope they come back around one day

If it is a temporary Ban, they will be back at the beginning of December (last Login was 4th of November, temp Bans are 30 days).

  • First of all - calling Nancy pretty is highly subjective. Eww. (at least ingame)

Second - you are not a 2,08m tall Killer, you are just a person playing a character in a videogame. Why should people be afraid of you?

Third - You are naming games like Fightning games or the Souls Series. The thing is, while those games can take Skill, this does not apply to DBD. DBD is a really easy game on both sides, sure, Killer is more difficult, but I would not call it difficult in general. Like, I struggled way more in other games to do somewhat well than in DBD.

And when it comes to comparison - DBD is an asymmetrical game. You cannot really compare it to fightning games. In a fightning game, both players can pick the same character, the basic is even at this point. But you cannot apply this to DBD because there is a difference between SWF and Solo and differences between Killers.

If they want to nerf Survivors that much that Clown (one of the, if not THE weakest Killer) can consistently 4K (which is already possible, if you are good) and have an easy time, then other Killers who are stronger will simply obliterate every Survivor Team.

And well, Killer being more difficult - it is the more Rewarding Site, you get more BPs in general, you get more Bonus-BPs since getting BBQ-Stacks is way easier than getting WGLF-Stacks AND you have more variety. Sure its more diffcult to be the "1" in the "1v4", but if that would not be the case, way less people would play Survivor.

  • I just play the game. And dont be upset if I get stomped, because nobody can expect to be good with a new Killer right from the start. Its just be normal to not be good at some things for the first time. And depending how complex the Killer is, it can take a while.

I level the Killer however. I will only play with a somewhat decent Perk Build and not with a Killer which is below Level 50.

  • Overreacting again because of Breakable Walls. While I dislike the Breakable Walls as a whole and think the Devs should abandon those, the Walls on the now reworked Maps are not a big problem.

  • From what I have seen, Victor stays the same. Which is understandable, since he is a secondary weapon/ability.

  • @CheyeneKL said:

Nope. I'm relatively in favor of the DC penalty on the live version, but it absolutely has no place in the PTB. If you run into game breaking/game ruining glitches (on a player test build... where it can be very common to run into glitches) you should not be punished for DCing. They want to encourage people to play the PTB, not discourage it.

^ this point enough should make clear why DC-Penalties dont make sense on the PTB.

It is a testing ground, the chances for Bugs are higher than on the Live Version.

  • No idea yet. Personally, I dont think they will be that fun to play like Blight for example. I also dont like any of their Perks, they are not really good (same for the Survivor-Perks, but this is nothing new).

But I would not say that I hate The Twins or their Perks, since they are not shockingly bad or unfun to go against.

  • @Markness said:

Brutal is only useful on the clown, everyone else is better off with enduring if you're doing a pallet-oriented build. I think that you can't go wrong with bamboozle on a lot of killers too as it shuts down the killer shack and jungle gyms and makes you vault quicker too. Enduring + Bamboozle on a lot of killers is an amazing combo (especially M1 killers).

It is also good on Doctor. Basically every M1-Killer can benefit from it, even tho I also go for Enduring over anything else. Except for Doctor and Clown, because Survivors drop Pallets early, so I dont get stunned most of the time anyway.

    @narf said:

Bamboozle and Brutal Strength are two of the most overrated killer perks in the game. They teach bad habits and are not good enough to ever help you in a significant way. Which one is better? Brutal Strength is good on Huntress and that's it.

How does Brutal Strength teach bad habits? Bamboozle clearly does, but how does Brutal Strength do that? The only thing that would come to my mind would be over-commitment to chases.

    @Topic:

I think Bamboozle is stronger. But as others have said, it deals bad habits. And I always expect a Killer to be worse in chases when they are running Bamboozle.

Yeah ormond is not what I'm complaining about. Badham, yamaoka, new autoheavens etc are.

I dont think that those Maps are too dark. I think that most Maps are way too bright, you dont really feel like it is night ingame. Like, pre-rework MacMillan allowed to stand at the Wall near Shack and see what is going on inside the Ironworks, which are quite far away. You should not be able to see Survivors or Killers clearly that far away.

The only Map where I would say that it is too dark sometimes would be the lower Floor of The Game, some Corners are really dark.

But with other Maps, I never had any problems with the lightning.

But this is highly subjective, others might find them too dark, we dont have the same eyesight. But before reworking the Maps I was usually disappointed how bright they always are.

  • I would not call this Dark:

    20201110204731_1.jpg 20201110222212_1.jpg

IMO Ormond is still way too bright.

    (Thats on Ultra, btw)

  • I think we will first get Updates to all existing Maps before getting new Maps. And while I like to see new Maps, I think we also have many different Realms and Maps already (15 Realms/35 Maps) to have a good variety without getting bored.

Oh ok, I didn’t realise that.

So Charlottes TR disappears when Victor is controlled, and Victor also doesn’t have a TR?

Yes, exactly. Victor also does not have any Chase Music.

  • Charlotte does not have a Terror Radius or anything when Victor is controlled.

  • Nope, it is a secondary weapon. So will most likely look the same on all Cosmetics.

  • In general a really good Killer Main. Way better than those players who complain nonstop about Killers being weak, maps being too big or SWF being too strong.

    @Topic:

Yeah, totally agree, she is underrated. I am doing fine with her without using any Slowdown-Perks, since she has a built-in slowdown. First 2 Gens are usually done quite quick, but as long as I have a Trap on a Survivor at this point, I am fine (as long as I am not unlucky and every Survivor removes the Trap on the first Box).

Alsways kinda sad to see Pig named as one of the worst Killers, because she is not bad, even if she does not have an oppressive Chase Ability.

She can get an Add On Rework tho, most of her Add Ons are not good or simply outdated. E.g. Tampered Timer does not need to exist, the Add Ons which increase Skill Check Odds or penalties are also not useful anymore, since there is no interaciton anymore (for months, at least) between Jigsaw Boxes and stuff like Unnerving Presence or Lullaby.

Would love to see more Add Ons for her Crouch and Dash, because her Traps are not her only Power (even tho, I get the feeling that not a small amount of people think that).
