What else is a killer supposed to do? You're supposed to find and kill survivors, so obviously you're going to be where the survivors are going to go, which includes gens and hooks.
You don't see survivors ignoring gens because they want want to "win to much".
This is why camping is an entirely legit tactic, only "facecamping" has any issues.
You mean "facepatroling".
-
You are not supposed to wiggle out. Wiggling should only prevent the Killer from choosing any hook they like. If wiggling would not exist, you would probably end up in the Basement or on any Scourge Hook all the time.
However, I agree that Hooks are too close. Often enough Hooks are close enough that the Killer can camp (or, like Killers like to say: "patrol") both Hooks. And this should not be the case, the Killer already has a lot of pressure with two people on the Hook, no reason to make it easy to camp (sorry: "patrol") both Hooks.
-
Honestly, with some of those things you dont need to play a single game to see that they are bad.
75% Noise Reduction with Iron Will? I have played against pre-Nerf Stridor Spirit, I know that it is pointless to use Iron Will now.
3 second DS-Stun? This was also the case back then, and it was bad, even without Enduring.
Increasing Gentimes without increasing Hook Times at the same time? We already know that camping one Survivor from the start will most likely get a 2K at least (with NOED), now this got even stronger.
It is sad that you can see this as player, but the Devs dont see that.
-
@Oiry said:
I think your take of "outright terrible" is just wrong. Have you ever played against a T2 Iron Will user before? Because that is exactly 75% reduction and it's still very much noticeable and significantly harder to track.
Current Iron Will is absolute overkill. I run it pretty much on every single one of my survivor builds because it's just so broken. It even removes breathing sounds when you are injured.
I think the current changes seem okay. 75% is absolutely usable, if you can mindgame the killer a bit to get further away it's hard to hear you.
Is it much worse than it was? Yes.
Is it unusable? No, it's still usable if you want to be safer while injured.
Now I do understand most people won't actually run it, because we got used to the OP version and won't even consider using the new one
I have never seen Tier 2-Iron Will-Users, because the Perk is useless at Tier 2.
-
IMO if they want to nerf it, the Exhaustion-part of the new effect is an alright Nerf on its own. And then they should keep it at 100%. So if a Survivor is really completely silent, the Killer at least does not have to deal with an Exhaustion Perk and vice-versa.
However, if they want to reduce the Noise Reduction, something overtime is an option. Basically your idea, but with bigger numbers, which get smaller over time, since the biggest jump is from 100% to 75%. (So it takes longer for the Survivor to make any injured sounds, but at this point, they become louder pretty fast)
-
No.
I should not have to change my Survivor Main just because BHVR makes questionable decisions.
-
I think my playtime will drop. I play DBD on a daily basis, 7400 hours. I was excited about the Update, but it was not really what I wanted to see.
-
Now that I cannot use Iron Will anymore, I will probably run CoH. If I cannot be silent while injured, I just have to stop being injured I guess. You can trash CoH if you give back 100% Reduction on Iron Will.
-
Yep, Blight needs Add On-Changes. Alchemists Ring, Compound 33, Adrenaline Vial and the Speed Add-Ons. Once those are gone, he will be completely fine.
-
@GentlemanFridge said:
“We won't be able to just simply hide when injured and not be found”
See, that’s not a good thing. You’re injured, you’re supposed to be at a disadvantage. Not to just be able to disappear every time you get hit.
Get Lucky Break instead if you do desperately want your silence
Lucky Break does nothing without Iron Will. I have seen players using Lucky Break (it is a bad Perk IMO) without Iron Will. And what does it matter that you dont leave Blood or Scratchmarks, when you make injured sounds?
So you will probably see even less Lucky Breaks now, because you cannot really use Iron Will anymore.
In fact, Iron Will is dead. It will not be used, since a Noise Reduction below 100% trashs the Perk.
-
I dont care.
Most TTVs dont have many viewers anyway. Often enough there is no different between playing against a Streamer and a Non-Streamer, since the Streamer streams for 0 viewers.

BT got buffed. So its unlikely, that people will drop it.
Solos can rely on Off the Record for guaranteed escapes during the endgame. On top of that, it can be used twice.
I wonder how it interacts with Adrenaline if the survivor is hooked while the last gen gets completed...
I see people dropping BT for Off the Record. Because it actually helps themselves.
In general, it is really bad gamedesign that you have to rely on others to have a Perk (BT) to get away when camped.
Regarding Adrenaline and Off the Record: You will have Endurance and be healthy. If you get hit, you are injured, if you get hit again, you are in Deep Wound. Or you get hit by an Insta-Down and are in Deep Wound immediatly. So with Adrenaline and Off the Record you can tank two Hits (or one Instadown) in Endgame.
However, you have to make it to Endgame first, which got more difficult.
-
@Bardon said:
Yeah, Off the Record is going to become one of the most meta perks for survivors - 80 seconds Endurance in Endgame? They could run the length of the many maps!
You still have to be somewhat close to the Gates. Because you can still only take one hit in Endurance, if you are so far away from the Gates that the Killer can catch up again (which is now easier due to reduced weapon cooldown and reduced Speedboost), you will go down regardless.

Does off the record deactivate in endgame?
Nope.
But as I said, who should make it into Endgame? You have an increased Hook Timer, potentially people dropping BT and a much weaker DS-Stun. Tunneling and camping just got buffed.
-
I mean, you are using a Clown-Emoji, this already shows that your opinion does not matter and you are irrelevant, but I will try:
Dont worry, Off the Record does not really do anything in Endgame, when you can just tunnel and camp easier now DURING the game due to the changes the Devs are making.

75% IF you're not exhausted. If you're exhausted is 0%.
The Exhaustion-thingy is fair IMO. This alone would be an alright Nerf.
-
@Milo said:
Nah nah, Iron Will does need changes. But two nerfs on top of each other ain't it. Either or would be fine imo.
IMO the Nerf to deactivate Iron Will when exhausted is fair. This would give the choice of either not running Exhaustion Perk and have Iron Will all the time or running Exhaustion Perks and giving up Iron Will for a huge amount of time during the match.
But the Nerf to the Noise Reduction just kills the Perk.
-
Iron Will is dead. It is all or nothing, 75% is not worth the Perk Slot.

It's like DS stun when Enduring could counter it. It'll be basically worthless against Blight or Nurse even more so than it already is.
It was already worthless against Blight or Nurse. It is now even more worthless, because many other Killers will just power through it.
Off the Record is now the better "Anti-Tunnel Perk" (but not a good one), because it works on both Unhooks and gives 80 seconds of Endurance, which should be enough to tank a Hit during a chase.
-
And the best thing is - you can have Stridor-Spirit without playing Stridor now! Just Iron Will getting dumped is enough.

Perhaps, but it also means you have to actually help your teammate instead of just "finishing the last 50% of that gen" then going for the unhook and still only losing one hook state. Imo this is a fantastic change, survivors should have to work together to survivor, not split up on gens and M1 for 3min.
Yeah, except when the Killer is camping, the best thing is to do Gens. Now blatant facecampers have it even easier to get Kills, because Survivors will take longer to do Gens.
Add things like Deadlock or NOED (which also did not really get nerfed and will still 100% activate and give value, because there is even less time to cleanse 5 Dulls on top of doing 5 Gens...) and maybe facecamping will now grant a guaranteed 3K instead of a 2K.

Bloodlust is literally a tool to help killers who can't catch survivors. It rewards them for not playing well and it was supposed to be deleted from the game after the map reworks. The fact that they buffed it is so baffling to me. Definitely the worst thing to come out of this update.
It was not supposed to be deleted. They were testing it, but since nothing was changed, I thought that they just did not get the results they hoped for and kept it in the game.
But from my perspective, most people said that Tier 2 and 3 could go. But nope, they are buffing them.
-
I mean, it was clear from the beginning that it is not something super-special.
What do you expect? There are so many Players who never prestiged, but still got all Perks on their characters. Which takes far more BPs than prestiging. Obviously they dont want to show the middlefinger to those by giving a super-cool reward which you dont want to miss.
It is completely fine that it is only a small thing you get.
-
@Taingaran said:
What about the Off The Record perk?
Yes, this exists. But it is a Perk and they changed a game mechanic (time to repair a generator), so they should add another game mechanic (increased Hook timer).
Off the Record does nothing against a face-camping Bubba for example. At worst, it is a trade for Bubba.
@NerfedFreddy said:
Hook time absolutely should be increased from 60s to 80s per hook stage as anti-camp measure
I dont know about 80 seconds. But if they increase the total time needed to repair 5 Gens by 50 seconds, they should increase the total Hook timers of all Survivors by roughly the same amount.
So 65-67 per Hook stage would be something. I mean, if you want to nerf facecamping really hard, you can increase the Hook Timers dramatically. But I am more aiminig to make it roughly the same as currently.

But to have the max level perk for each character dont you have to p3 them now?
No. You can either P3 them or go the "traditional" way of just getting them via the Bloodweb.
-
New players will just have to prestige Characters to have their Perks on all Characters. Old players needed to grind all the Perks.
Prestiging takes far less BPs compared to getting all Perks on a Character, so it is 100% less grindy for new players.
-
100% agreed.
I am especially pissed off by the Bloodlust-Buff, this mechanic needs to be nerfed and not buffed.
And if they buff basic Killer gameplay, they need to nerf Camping and Tunneling. But they just buffed it. And this is beyond stupid.

Stridor gang rise up
You dont need Stridor.
Pre-Nerf Stridor lowered the power level of Iron Will A LOT. Now this Power Level is the new state of Iron Will. And it is sad.
-
What a well-defined answer.
Sorry to break it for you, but Iron Will is either 100% or you just dont take Iron Will. Those are the only options, 75% reduction might help against the 5 Console Killers who play with Speakers, but thats about it.
Pre-Nerf Stridor showed how useless Iron Will can be when you bring Stridor, now this level of power is basekit for Iron Will.

On top of that, they removed the BBQ bloodpoint bonus. Which completely removes the killers incentive to leave the hook for the additional bloodpoints.
This is fine. It was a weak incentive anyway, because the Killer can camp and tunnel one Survivor and STILL get the Bonus BPs. If Bonus BPs would not have been awarded after tunneling one person out, it would have been better.
But I see Killer Main Streamers with a dead Survivor and only one or two Stacks of BBQ all the time, because they can still get their Bonus BPs later.
And removing the BPs from BBQ and WGLF is fine, if the grind gets reduced that much. BBQ will still be useful, but only on mobility Killers.

You haven’t even seen the nerf yet so who said the nerf was going to be overkill?
During our 6th Anniversary Broadcast, we announced a new progression system and a meta-shifting perk overhaul. We’re thrilled to say that both initiatives will headline the upcoming Mid-Chapter. From the onset, it was important for us to release these changes as a package. Our objective is to shake up the current meta,…I think you missed that one.
-
Increasing Gen Speeds without increasing the Hook Timer just made camping more viable.

Even more so now that calm Spirit is even more useless
Yes.
But Iron will was his only good Perk for years. Now it is just trash, it is either 100% or not using Iron Will, there is nothing between those options.
At max it will work against some Console Killers who dont bother to buy a Headset, because they play with their TV-Speakers, but thats about it.
-
I would totally accept nerfing DS in a way to not be used in Endgame. But the other change happening would be to increase its Anti-Tunnel Ability. But they nerfed it, with 3 seconds of Stun (1,3 used for the animation), every Killer can just tunnel through DS without problems.
-
You dont need Stridor anymore. Iron Will not reducing Grunts of Pain by 100% is useless. Now Jake has 3 bad Perks instead of 2. Yay.
-
Thats fine, tunneling was made easier, so you wont have that many Survivors reach Endgame anyway.
-
5 seconds is nothing. BT is still needed.
-
You will still need BT. Because 5 seconds is laughable, this is easily waited out, unless there is a window or Pallet really, really close to the Hook.
So this change does nothing to drop then usage of BT and if it does, it just makes tunneling easier, because some Survivors might think the 5 seconds are enough.
The DS-Nerf is also just dumb. I can accept it being deactivated during Endgame, IF they buff its Anti-Tunnel-Ability more. But they dont, they in fact nerfed the Stun Time to 3 seconds, which is not enough. 1,3 seconds are already used for the animation, so the Surivvor will only get around 7 meters of distance after hitting DS. Now even more Killers will just laugh about it and tunnel the ######### out of Survivors.
-
Why not strip teabaggers of their human rights immediatly? This should be appropiate.
-
Instead of unsafe or safe Pallets, I like to use the words "fair" and "unfair": A fair Pallet is a Pallet which can be played by both sides, with the better player coming out on top - if it is the Killer, they get a Hit. If it is the Survivor, they are rewarded with distance to get to the next Pallet.
This does not apply to Pallets like Shack or Jungle Gyms. This also does not apply to Joke-Pallets like the downstairs one next to the Basement on Plagues Map, you can be the best Survivor in the world and will get hit, no matter what. Talking about something like Badham-Pallets (like the car pallets near the School).
So, yeah, I would hope that at one point, Maps have a shitload of fair Pallets, a very huge amount. And very, very few safe Pallets (like 2-3 per Map).
This would also help with overall gameplay experience - a Killer would not need to break every Pallet they come across, they can actually try to outplay the Survivor. And the Survivors are not ######### over by a teammate who cannot Loop and predrops every safe Pallet.
However, for this, Bloodlust would need to go. Because otherwise the Killer would be given a Hit after 15 seconds on every of those Pallets.
-
Ah yes. One picture of a Nurse-player who let everyone go will totally change the mind of those people who rightfully call her broken.
-
Why should I fear the Killer? They are just another human, sitting in front of the PC, playing a game. So why should I be scared?

Same can be said for Prove Thyself. All it does is negate the stacking penalty. You want multiple survivors on a gen, it's when they spread out that you can't pressure them and they end up 'genrushing'.
This is correct. Sometimes I think that people dont understand what Prove Thyself actually does, but they see the increased Gen Speed and nothing more.
It is obviously better to go against Survivors with Prove Thyself who sit on one Gen compared to going against Survivors without it who split up and work on two different Gens.
But Overzealous is a straight-up Noobtrap.
-
If you really think that Overzealous is a problem, I dont think it is the Survivors or Gen Speeds fault that you lose games.
-
Yeah, because Killer Mains can never be toxic. Must all be Survivor Mains, because those are evil beings.

All my Level 50 Bloodwebs on Survivor had at least 1 Cake.

At least one in each Bloodweb. (Top left from the starting node)
