Am I Crazy Or Do The Perk/BP Changes Make This Game *MORE* Grindy For New Players?

Previously, a new player could buy Bubba, get BBQ and then use that to gradually build out their roster.

Now, while us longer time players will have the benefits of many perks unlocked via prestige, it's going to take much longer for newer players to fill things out.

Or am I missing something obvious here?

  • New players will just have to prestige Characters to have their Perks on all Characters. Old players needed to grind all the Perks.

Prestiging takes far less BPs compared to getting all Perks on a Character, so it is 100% less grindy for new players.

But to have the max level perk for each character dont you have to p3 them now?

Ah. Yeah, okay, I see how that makes sense.

  • You're not crazy. Before you would level a character to 40 and then move onto a new character to get their teachables. With few characters leveled you'd still unlock all the teachables you have really quickly. Now you have to get your character to 50 and prestige to skip 3 levels per new survivor, but still need the 6 level to max those perks.

Until you get a LOT of characters prestiged a new player is going to see absolutely no benefit to the grind reduction\, and in fact will feel the need to spend more on those 10 extra large bloodwebs per character.

It's frankly just a terrible decision to remove the BP bonuses from the game instead of making them base kit outside of the perks.

That only really applies once you're at the point of collecting every maxed perk on characters. The huge initial catchup grind that new players need to go through hasn't been touched, and should have been looked at in the grind 'reduction.'

No. You can either P3 them or go the "traditional" way of just getting them via the Bloodweb.

That's if you auto want it on every killer / survivor. I'm pretty sure, say you got P1 clown because you want Pop. You will get pop tier 1 on every killer, but now in the bloodweb you can go for tier 2 pop. Or you just keep prestiging clown til you get P3.

  • I'm a bit puzzled by that decision. They're missing the forest for the trees a bit by removing the BP bonus.

Take Nurse for example. She has 4, arguably 5 useful add ons for high level play. Many are actively detrimental. So her green recharge add on cost is actually about 20k or more when you factor in what you spend on the junk just to get to get to the node. I've gone through 2 or 3 bloodwebs just to get a recharge add on before. They certainly cost more than 5k in real value.

That logic can be applied to most killers. You have a lot of things you can run vs a lot of things you should run, assuming your opponents are actually good. Hag? Why run anything other than setting speed and range? Spirit? Duration and speed. I could go on, but add ons are much more expensive than their listed value.

I see, then I dont mind it. I misunderstood and thought you were locked out of tier 2, 3 perks unless you prestiged.
