Slugging for the 4k is fine if you have an idea of where the last survivor is. Like you saw the hatch, and know they'll be waiting there to get it. Or you literally just saw them.
Slugging for the 4k and then going on a 4 minute search + chase isn't really fun for the guy on the ground, though.
Oddly had a killer once slug me to give me the hatch instead of the other guy.
I did that once, it was the only survivor in the match who was actually trying to win, the rest played like toxic ass, so I had planned on giving them the hatch and had thought I was tracking their last teammate when it turned out to be them. So I slugged them, dropped them off at the hatch (closed) and went after their teammate.

Same! Although I think I was 14 when I discovered them lol. I’ll look up Ghostemane now as I’m always looking for new music. 😉
We need us a good music thread where I can spend way too long explaining the link between BAND-MAID, DOLL$BOXX and Dragonforce, as well as my personal belief that rock isn't dead, it just loves Pureso.

Jealous of your name. Asher Frost sounds so iconic. You’re definitely destined to be a future member of the Avengers. When you join, please put in a good word for me, I don’t have any special powers but I can be there to provide much needed wit and sarcasm. 😌
I thought it sounded good when I picked it :p
Seriously though, I was in the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) when I was a teen, back in the before time when you had to bring your PC to a friend's house to play online with them. Since everyone is supposed to have a persona, and a persona needs a name, I was told I could choose what my name was. As someone who always hated his legal name, that was a revelation. I spent over a year deciding what I would be called. 20+ years later and I still like my choice.

as long as it happens on a set timer, yes.
nothing wrong with survivors bodyblocking a hook while you are carrying someone, nothing wrong with you bodyblocking a vault / pallet while being unable to attack (e.g. uncloaking), nothing wrong with you bodyblocking someone during EGC, etc.
however, if you bodyblock them somewhere where they will be unable to leave without there being a clear time indication present that marks the end of your action (e.g. deep wound timer, active reverse beartrap timer or EGC) it is no longer allowed.
When I first played killer and got hook blocked, I had no idea what was going on. I thought they were trying to surrender. I mean, why would you stand in front of the big guy with the big knife when you aren't even wearing armor?

I kind of wish the hooked person got points if gens were done while they're hooked.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
Survivor lives need to be worth 10k a piece at least. That way everyone gets paid depending on how the game went.
1 gets out, 3 die? That's 10k for each survivor, 30k for the killer.
2 get out? 20k for everyone.
The grind in this game is the scariest and most oppressive part, we needs the bp either way.

I've been playing for awhile but I'm still very bad in chases.
One of these situations always happens to me:
*The killer knows how to break the loop
*The chase is in an open area and there is nothing that can help in time
*Mind game makes me make a mistake
*Without Iron Will they never lose me
Usually the killer finds me first because they spawn close and they down me pretty quick. after that they tunnel me because I'm an easy target.
Sometimes i die first because they are not leaving me and I'm leaving the game with the lowest points. it's frustrating that this happens often.
How is tunneling is fair in my position?
Are they tunneling you, or are you running into them? My first few games as survivor I swear it was like I had a magnet attracting me to the killer. After a while you can anticipate the TR changes and stay further away.
Just a guess, but if you are new, and not good with loops, you may also be leaving too much evidence of where you are (fast vaulting when not being chased, leaving lots of scratch marks by running directly from gen to gen, etc) which makes it a lot easier for the killer to find you either the first time, or after you've been saved from the hook. Consider your movement, stay away from open areas, and always be thinking about scratch marks.
Lastly maybe play some games as killer. Nothing helps you get in the head of the opposite side as well as playing that side.

Played against one a couple of nights ago. Not seen it before. Not familar with his addons although Im aware of the one which takes him ages to get tier 3 infinite. We rushed through 4 gens and then he started mori'ng 1 at a time. Quite a good late game strat. I managed to waste enough to time to help the other 2 get the last gen finshed and 1 delayed him whist they did the exit to help the other escape, but ..... the doors opened too slowly and he got the last survivor in the doorway.
Those are the games I love on both sides. Constantly shifting momentum!

back in like 2016-2017 I always ran unbreakable. Everyone gave me ######### for it, because unbreakable was seen as worthless as a one time use perk that would never get used anyway. But if you were ever in a situation where you were being slugging with maybe one other on hook and the last standing is in chase, you completely revamped the game. Or you got to a pallet, stood up as they came back, hit the stun and still be clear with your exhaustion perk to get to hatch. Now that its been comboed with DS unbreakable is seen as toxic, but its such a good anti slug tool, even if its already been used to stand up, because of how quickly you max your help bar
I honestly never saw that combo as being all that toxic. It's countering the counterplay of ds, which is fun because as killer now I have to counter your counter to my counter and suddenly we're playing entity chess instead of just hide and seek. Unfortunately it seems the majority prefer hide and seek, and maybe they are right to do so, but for me, the fact that both (as far as I know) are one time use means they aren't so much capable of derailing the game as much as adding a speed bump.
I think it gets a lot of hate for the same reason NOED does. The player thinks they are in a situation where they are promised a win, then this perk comes and takes it right out from under them. It's good to remember that you are never in so good a position that the other side has no hope of turning the tide, which is the mark of a good multiplayer game.
-
What I don't understand is why you would. Unless you hate that specific player and want to make sure they don't get to have any fun all you are doing is making sure that 1k is all you'll get. It's like face camping a hook. You can, but why would you if you actually want a win?
In egc it's different (as is camping) as you could feel you already lost and want the one pity kill, that makes it much the same as a survivor standing over the hatch waiting for their last teammate to die. Both of you have essentially stopped playing to make sure you get 1 point

Happy to help. :)
-
One other thing to add to this (would edit but it removes my posts when I do, more often than not)
What happens to the hooked survivor with this perk when your team decides it's "gens over friends" and leave you hooked? Do you stay in struggle until everyone has been hooked and then die? Do you get unhooked by the entity as a freebie?
-
@gatsby said:
Decisive Strike is extremely meta defining because its existence in a match forces a Killer to change their playstyle. So what if there was a perk that was even more meta defining.
Introducing my idea for the strongest anti-tunnel perk in the entire game:
All For One
You cannot be killed or sacrificed until all Survivors in the trial have at least one hook state.
"What do you think you're doing? My friends still need me."
The threat of this perk would make camping or tunneling out an early kill impossible. All the sudden facecamping, insidious camping, setting 90000 traps in the basement and proxy camping instead of pressuring gens would all go away. Because it wouldn't be worth the effort or give any sort of advantage.
Killers would consider hooking all four Survivors before getting their first kill to be the standard and would never try to circumvent that. We all use BBQ anyway to monitor how many Survivors we've hooked, so good players probably would be fine with the change and bad players wouldn't be able to grief Survivors or cheese out wins.
I thought y'all hated blendettes. Why would you want a perk that basically forces every survivor team to bring one with them?
Moreover, as written, can't be sacrificed, can still be moried or just left to bleed out. The more I think about it, the more this seems like the perfect way to encourage behavior from both sides I see constant complaints about here.

Alright then show us the evidence the stats are wrong, you can say what you want on a forum, show us the stats that disprove the stats
He just did.
Putting a aside the fact that 65-70% means bouncing between a 2k and 3k, (as 3 would be 75%) meaning the stats y'all like to use to claim killers are OP pretty much shows the opposite. Putting aside the fact that those statistics exist outside of any skill ranking, so the couple of drunk fratboys who spend a weekend getting jumpscared and meming are ranked equally with a group of survivor mains trying their best.
As pointed out, the pick rate (which is as easy to find as these other stats) belies the data. Hell, go watch the tournament dbd uploaded to their YouTube channel for proof of that. According to the stats Nurse gets the least amount of kills, yet she's the most popular pick for high level play, especially tournament level. But hey, if you don't want to accept that proof I will agree with you that Nurse needs a buff, since according to your statistics, she has the worst kill rate of any killer in dbd.

is DS not technically survivors being armed? Most survivors have gun holsters anyway so it might not be so unprobable.
My point was that no perk should be immune to changes. Not about the current state of any future, current or past perks
No, not it isn't. DS is a quick stun, that's it. A flashlight may be closer, but even then it can't actually damage the killer.

if a hex perk worked as follows: "once an injured survivor is downed, 3 other survivors on the map are instantly put into the dying state". does that require a change? according to you, no. bEcAuSe iTs A hEx PeRk
It says a lot about the current hex perks that you have to make up a ridiculous one for your point. The odds of such a perk are about on par with the odds they'll decide to arm survivors. Sure, not 0, but c'mon.

Reload isn't being taken into account, here. What I mean by spam is to constantly throw stuff, without real, perceivable drawbacks. If you can spam bottle after bottle, hatchet after hatchet... It means something isn't right. Same goes for chainsaw after every corner.
It really should be. You cant spam bottles, you get 4 and that's it.
-

Well, I mean, devs like to claim that you cannot prevent camping or tunneling, because that is a "playstyle". As much as that can be true, a videogame is meant to let you have fun. Being chased for an eternity, without having the chance to do anything else, or being camped until you die because you annoyed the killer, or even being "bullied" by a full SWF is not something that falls under that category. I proposed changes some years ago now, but everybody rejected them in some way or another.
- I would make it so SWF can only be a team of 2 people, max 3 if people really want to play like that/know they are going to die without it. I would limit toolboxes to just 2 per lobby, keys to just 1 per lobby and flashlight to 1/2, SWF or not. Of course, that would not mean that someone else might not find others in chests.
- Bloodlust had a reason to exist before recent changes, since it served to counter infinites. Now that infinites are no longer a thing, well... People just abuse that, refusing to break pallets so they can get major speed boosts, for a relatively little chase time. If it remains, make it at least like Legion's power. You miss, it resets.
- What I would nerf, is the ability for killers to spam, whoever the killer is. I find it unhealty to have a clown spamming bottles at will, Billys or Bubbas doing the same, Huntress and so on, I would personally add a short time of some seconds before they can do that again, be it they used their power or not (e.g. Huntress loads an hatchet but then puts it away, Billy revving his chainsaw then not using it).
- About tunneling, I don't really know how to prevent tunneling without hindering the killer too much. Maybe making DS basekit, but its activation would be tied to a token based system that would grant you a totem after you spent some time being chased, cumulatively. You would have more than a single DS, for a minor stun duration, but only one token at a time. Camping, instead, could be made so the hooked survivor doesn't lose health if the killer is near a certain radius and NOT in a chase (and before someone claims that survivors could abuse this, it would all come down to how much aware killers are of their surroundings).
- Gen times need to be increased, to give killers more of a chance IF these previous changes are to be implemented. But staring at a bar for a long time, even longer if the killer has Ruin/PGTW can feel boring. Perhaps they could increase points after a certain amount of gen repairs and implement other gen activation requirements.
That's all I can really say, atm. Feel free to let me know what you think.
This is the only part I really disagree with
"What I would nerf, is the ability for killers to spam, whoever the killer is"
That's because I think it already exists. Clown can't just spam bottles forever, he has a few, then he has to mix more, which slows him down. If you are up against a clown just tossing bottles, it's easy to escape during that time. Huntress similarly has a set number of hatchets, even with addons I do not believe she can even get to double digits on her, and she doesn't get to make new ones out of nowhere, she has to then find a locker and reload. Doctor is slowed while charging up either of his shocks, so spamming those will lose you the chase. Basically the only power I can think of that can be spammed is Freddy's snare, and that is its own issue.

If you really dislike dbd and want to see it lose new players and die off that bad, then sure I guess. Any entertainment property survives solely on new blood, pointless gatekeeping, as you are suggesting, is a fantastic way for that well to dry right up.
I know, I know "but newbies complain about stupid stuff!" So does everyone. New, old, trolls who stick around the forums despite having quit playing the game some time ago, welcome to the internet, where people loudly have dumb opinions on things, been the case since I was a lad and had to memorize the phone number for Lower Lights to sign in.
Making it so that only people with x amount of hours invested can't post won't result in fewer stupid posts, likely it will just destroy your faith in how intelligent the average veteran player of this, or any other multiplayer game is.
-
I'm good with it. If it wasn't for keys in chests I wouldn't get to find survivors putting themselves in the basement, and I always enjoy that.
-
In order for it to be broken "again" wouldn't it have to be fixed first?
Seriously though, the best theory I have seen is that there are so few killers at red ranks playing that the system mixes up the survivor ranks to try and make it "fair". Obviously it doesn't do a great job.

Honestly, I think NOED is much stronger than any single second chance perk for Survivor. You're right, they can be comboed to greater effect... but to me, it's pretty much a line in the sand. Either you believe perks should exist that allow you to forgive your own bad play or they don't. The sheer number of people who say: "NOED is OK, but DS isn't" or vice versa makes my brain hurt since they fundementally do the same thing... and it's just clear killer or survivor bias.
NOED is stronger, but I can't light 5 candles and remove ds from every survivor in the match.

I feel map offerings are terrible and should not be in the game, mainly because it can put too much control In one side. Both killers and survivors have the power to choose any map they want, but that is bad because some maps can completely shift the balance of power to one side. If survivors put on a survivor sided map like Haddonfield they are almost always going to win the game. If the killer brings a map offering that matches well with the killer then that's unfair as well because they have a unfair advantage.
So if the maps can have shift the balance and give the side an unfair advantage why is it allowed at all?
The Game map redesign shows they aren't about to make every map favor both sides equally, so I agree. Take map offerings out, give everyone the bp back for the ones in their respective inventories, keep the maps as the one uncontrollable random in every match.
-
If I see one survivor getting screwed over by bad teammates I try to give them the hatch or, failing that open the gate and let them out. Doesn't always work, as sometimes they end up crossing my path too many times while their teammates are alive and end up hooked.

Hatch exists to make sure no game is hopeless for the survivors. It serves both a good mechanical purpose that keeps disconnects down, and a lore purpose as the entity feeds on hope.
So you didn't get the 4k. You won and should easily have popped. She survived and got the bare minimum of points. If it bothers you that much think about how pissed her teammates were that she let them die
-
Waiting until their pick rate reaches 0 I guess, it's gotta be a few weeks off at most before that happens.

You think I'm excited. Yes mate I'm currently carressing my supple nipples at the thought of your mistake.
My original statement to you was defining objectives as to what directly allows you to escape. The reason why people leave dull totems is for this exact reason. (high level of course)
'probably going to be devour, as you've said you don't care about ruin'. That is such shallow analysis. It's completely up to the pressure the killer has if ruin needs to go or not. Devour goes too once you've gotten your first exposed hit. I can't count the amount of matches my team has escaped with ruin still remaining. Many of the games would result in an L wasting the time cleansing. It depends on the circumstance. Note the word I used this time please.
I think the more correct term is optional objective. That's what it really is and what I'm trying to say.
I said excited, not horned up, jeez :p
Seriously though, devour is the only respectable hex left. New Undying still wrecks you in the right combo, but lullaby is a waste of time. If you have a good hex in mind I would love to hear it, as I'm still a bit sad that I can't come up with a good "Hex Roulette" build because I can't think of a good enough 4th perk (ptb killer has one, but I'm a console scrub, so no clue if it is any good or not) if you've had so many matches where you've had a 4e without having to get rid of ruin that you can't count them, then clearly it's not doing a good job of hexing you. Perhaps I just have an inflated view of how powerful a hex should be, but I think any perk that can be completely removed from the match by one side, should be powerful enough to make it a perk you very much want to remove each match.
That's my argument for NOED as well, I don't use it because to me it's not worth the gamble when I can bring a perk that will help ensure the 5th gen never gets finished, and on survivor I run inner strength, so I rarely see it, so I feel I've got a fairly unbiased view on the perk. My view is that it should be left alone, because it is a gamble and should feel from a survivor side like a pants wetting moment when it pops. The only change I would like to see is maybe a notification when it pops, primarily because I think it would help in the wetting.
Ok, so what, to you would be a secondary objective?

It is that simple!
If it was major #########, I would care. But the things you're so excited you "got" me on is minor as hell.
Again, back on whether or not a totem is a secondary objective, why do you believe you are right and the devs are wrong? You said earlier that you "know when I should be cleansing a hex totem" which is probably going to be devour, as you've said you don't care about ruin, do you consider it a secondary objective then? Bug or not (pretty sure not a bug because there is no TR). I'm exposing your bias which you keep accidentally fumbling out. You clearly don't play survivor enough to credit talking about survivor.
Don't be so naive.
I'm sorry I don't know all the ins and outs of the newest fully released, and by far least played killer in the game. I don't pick twins (because they suck) and have only had enough matches against them to know that the timing and position for that kick may be the most finicky thing in the game. I don't have time to watch streamers all day, I work for a living, so I can only speak from my own experience.
Unlike you, I don't claim to know more about the game than the people who created it, so when they label an item in their game a "secondary objective" I believe them. That's the point at hand here, not whatever is going on with Victor's ongoing saga of uselessness.

Don't play coy about what I meant about Victor. You don't get bp when victor is chasing you - it doesn't count as chase. Again, with the NOED argument you had with me. You have wrong information. Can you please for once go and ######### play the game before arguing with me. This is the second time you've gotten simple game mechanics wrong.
It doesn't matter what the devs say. If they say jump, who says how high? Exactly at least I have a reason. They can only change objectives with game mechanics. Not public speech.
Note the term 'circumstances' I used. Obviously I know when I should be cleansing a hex totem.
How the hell do you not get bp from escaping victor? That has to be a bug. It's literally running from the killer. Regardless you get bp for kicking him.
So it doesn't matter what the devs say about the game they made? Yeah, that sure makes sense. I mean, what would they know about the game they designed and created, right?
-
Doc isn't overpowered. He's one of the training wheel killers, here to teach new survivors gameplay mechanics. Doc teaches survivors about lockers and skill checks, and the valuable lesson that you need to always be listening for the TR. BP does not contribute to winning a trial. I don't get BP for running a Victor for example. Does that mean I'm not doing the objective?
Totems do not contribute to powering the exit gates. Generators do.
If uncleansed totems meant the gates took longer to open for example would make it a secondary objective. Currently there is no benefit to cleansing dull totems or even some hex's given the circumstances (even ruin!).
If the killer runs NOED they might get their one kill if I don't find the totem in time but you bet your ass you're getting Entity Displeased.
That's a fun definition you've given yourself there, doesn't fit reality or the multiple times the devs themselves have stated the totems are a secondary objective, but at least you have a reason.
You get bp for chase, escape and kicking victor, so yes, "running" him does give you bp. (Unless you mean running to the edge of the map with him on you, which isn't an objective at all, just taking advantage of poor killer design)
The benefit to doing hex totems is to remove that hex from the match, if you don't feel like the hex is powerful enough to risk doing the totem to remove it, that's up to you, but doesn't actually change anything. (Except to show how weak the hex perks are and why they all should be buffed)

Not even the slightest, because I know I have a fair chance of beating him. Just because someone has a sharp-edged weapon does not make him creepy, it makes him dangerous, but a danger that can be beaten in mere hand-to-hand combat. But imagine if Freddy or Myers was after you, you would not even think about trying to fight them, you would most likely run. With Trickster, yes, I would actually stay and fight, and that's a problem... He is the first killer in DBD I would definitely try to fight physically because he does not look nor sound scary. He is your average everyday life Joe who has gone a little crazy in the head.
You could argue that Legion is the same, but because Legion wears a mask hiding his identity, I lose all sight of what I am truly facing, and that is scary to me. I could try to fight him and probably win, but because I don't know what he looks like, I rather take no chances. Face tells a lot about a person and Trickster looks nothing more than just a pretty boy asking for a good beating.

This is the funniest bit you have stated. Seriously, maybe it's the pandemic, maybe it's being a lucha fan, but masks on their own just don't scare me. But hey, maybe they'll have a mask cosmetic like they do for Meg, then you can be properly scared.

I've actually been drafting a post on this subforum compiling the fan theory stuff on this topic.
Trapper is absolutely not under it because he has signs of Entity torture, some of the most extensive aside from Carter. If The Entity's
Nurse is almost certainly not under it either. She's absolutely unhinged and does not need persuasion to kill people.
Hag is also probably not under illusions because she's genuinely drinking blood and stuff. More likely that the supernatural process that turned her into the Hag has degraded her mentally. One could also speculate that her physical state is part of The Entity torturing her to cajole her into the Trials, as it seems like killing Survivors is pretty much the only way she gets to eat.

Well... That's because she is. She found A god.
I thought the damages to trapper were caused by the Alchemist when he trapped him in his basement to experiment on him

There's no such thing as "tunneling generators". Totems are not survivors' objectives and I dare you to cleanse all 5 totems on solo queue in Midwich while there's a Stridor Spirit obliterating your team.
You spend a lot of time dealing with t3 spirits who still use NOED, do you?
And of course totems are survivors' objectives. That's why you get bp for clearing them. They are secondary objectives, but still objectives
