Breaking all five totems solo q usually isn't feasible
So don't?
Just note where they are, and check back if noed activates.

I'm a Mikey main and I don't mind that map. There's usually a tight three gen somewhere that's easy to defend.
Corn maps are Mikey's biggest enemy as the corn literally hinders his power to stalk.
That's sad to hear, because corn maps make him scary as hell from the survivor perspective. Never sure where he's at.

Monsterous Shrine
Self-Care
Both have become useless as the game has evolved. Reworking is pointless when there are already perks that do the same thing better or (in Shrine's case) when every complimentary build/killer has been changed to the point of having little to no synergy. (Outside of basement camping bubba, which is the only playstyle I truly believe to be the holy Trinity of #########. 1. Useless. 2. Boring. 3. Annoying)

Basically, especially in Solo-Queue, getting all 5 totems before the last generator goes is very unlikely. It is very hard to prevent NoED and those that can have to sacrifice a lot of time on generators to maybe get rid of a perk they have. Beyond this, the survivors don't even know if the killer has it until their bleeding out on the floor. Also, people can't coordinate (in solo queue) that "The killer is camping, don't try to save" so survivors tend to get from a 4E to a 1E because of lackluster coordination. In other words, it's a perk that primarily hurts solo queue, and nye impossible to deny.
1. Shouldn't it be "very hard" to prevent an entire perk from taking effect at all? Killers don't get the ability to delete any Survivor perk before it can take effect like that. Survivors also don't get any warning that devour is at enough stacks until the first one is moried. Killers have no indication that literally any survivor perk is in the game until it's used, that's how perks work.
2. Y'all don't do jumping jacks on the hook to let people know the killer is camping? I realize kindred exists, which also tells that information for the entire team, as well as letting them see each other, but still, why are we pretending there is no communication outside of the verbal?

Crazy how dead hard thread will have everyone agreeing that it’s busted and should be nerfed, but when noed its brought up people get defensive. I have noticed it on YouTube videos as well Lmao. Whatever I hate both perks
When the killer can choose to light 5 candles placed around the map to permanently disable Dead Hard for the duration of the match, (or just 1 after the first time it's used) they'll be equivalent. Until then, it's just a bad form of whataboutism.

Trapper/Eeyrie of crows.
I don't even play trapper, but whenever I face one here, I almost want to intentionally get caught in a trap just to make the poor sod feel better. Seriously, his traps stand out on that map more than lit hexes do anywhere.

I don't read the lore, but from my understanding, the new killer is the one who "painted" the new map. If so, I hate her even more now. She needs to study plant structures and learn how to properly pain bushes that I can enjoy myself in. All her stupid map has is crap.
She didn't watch Bob Ross growing up. I find her lack of happy little bushes disturbing.

12 possible spawn points.
5 totems.
If a totem is broken by your teammates, you still see the bones on the floor.
Those of you arguing that it takes headset based communication for this, why? What part of checking spawn points, counting 5 totems (or breaking them yourself), then coming back to break the lit one if noed appears requires such amazing levels of communication?
I've only been playing solo survivor for a few years, and haven't found the lack of a headset really hampers my ability to count to 5, but maybe I'm missing something.
I get it, all the gens were completed, you feel like high fives and butt dances all around, but the game isn't over until the results screen. The end game is still the game.
One real positive I've noted with noed is that killers who run it seem to be less aggressive tunnelers in the early game. They know they have a backup plan, or they built their loadout around the end game, so they aren't as worried about getting a survivor out as soon as they can. While I personally enjoy an attentive killer (as running from them is literally why I play, it's certainly not for my love of generator repair) tunnelling is probably the most, if not 2nd most complained about strategy on this forum.

nah, people used to count to 5 all the time, you don't see it as much now because people want to leave behind the totems for CoH boons (or to avoid pentimento, which can get disgusting with enough stacks)
Seriously, I don't understand why people act like finding 5 totems in a map is an epic effort. There's a dozen spawn points per map (about half of which are right next to generator spawn points), only 5 are used, and if another survivor clears the totem first you can still see the bones laying on the ground. Just count to 5, then if you see NOED activate, find the lit one and remove it. That simple.

But I've got German and Russian heritage, so that counts for something? Maybe?
So if you wear baggy clothes, could I (theoretically) tie a string to your belt loops and fly you in a windy day like a kite? I kid. Honestly it's hard to tell the tolerance of another, especially as we've never met in RL where I could see how you handle your drinks.

I think this is general, may be off topic, but it's designed around DbD, so I think it fits.
Rules are simple, first, If you are too young, or have issues with alcohol, please substitute with a non-alcoholic beverage of your choice.
Starting off, solo survivor. 1 shot if
Anyone picks the same survivor as you.
Anyone picks the same type of item (medkit, flashlight, toolbox, key) as you. Also if you are both open handed. (No items)
Guess the killer during load.
1 shot if killer is from the same expansion as your survivor (including base if you pick an OG survivor)
2 shots if the killer isn't the one you guessed.
During the match.
1 shot every time you are hooked.
1 every escape.
Obviously take your own tolerance into account. I'm Romani/Irish, so it takes a lot to break me, but your mileage may vary. Remember a drink of beer is a perfectly acceptable replacement for a shot, don't let people pressure you into anything more than you want.
It's weird when you see a mod edited your post, but can't figure out what they edited, lol.
Looks like it was off topic

Nice, thanks that's constructive feedback.
I see your point, i agree that they have their upside and can partly fix the issue of overly passive players.
But i believe most overly immersive survivors will just crouch walk and crows do not trigger in that situation. You are able to bypass the crows entirely just by moving a bit, but you can not move in a locker so its kind of a weird spot to be in, in my opinion.
Especially since overly immersive survivors will just leave the locker move a bit and than re-enter when they have the option to do so.
If you are moving outside of a locker it is a lot easier for killer to find you in the map through normal gameplay then if you're hiding in a locker. So the visual indication of the crows is less necessary. Even if you're exiting and entering a locker the killer at least has the chance of seeing the doors open and close.
-
To be fair, I've mentioned like 3 times that my hesitation to giving up my gameplay secrets was the death of Innocents, lol.

@KolbyKolbyKolby said:
Are you sure you don't mean drink instead of shot? 7 shots in a single game is probably...inadvisable.

Ok. Afk should always spawn crows. The afk timer in DbD is already quite generous, and nothing is gained by overly immersive survivors who refuse to move. I played before the afk crows worked as they did, and the experience on both sides is better for them being added.

I have an acquaintance that I play with every now and then but every single time this guy dies he calls out hacks for no reason. I have seen other players report a killer unjustly because of him calling hacks for no reason. I have told him to stop but he wont and I have reported him for it in game because I dont know what else to do about it. No one should have to deal with a jerk who just calls hacks contently and gets you reported for no reason. I post this here to ask you guys what should I do about this?
I'd tell him exactly what he's doing that bothers you, then stop playing with him for a bit. After a few weeks or so, maybe give him another chance, with the understanding if he asses about with his "hacks" nonsense, that this is the last time.
-
Why do you keep replying twice to each one of mine?
She had you, that's the game. Tough luck.
-
She had no reason to leave. She was perfectly positioned to send crows at both gates, so she knew when you were going to make a break for it. Just the way it is, sometimes you're just stuck in a bad spot.
-
Counterpoint:
Once she was sitting next to your locker, she had you, crows or not. All you were doing was delaying the end of the game and keeping both of you from moving on to the next match. That's exactly what the afk crows were designed for.

AsherFrost,
Great feedback, honestly. These are good points, I was suggesting the BT change to counter some of the Killers who camp on hook, I really enjoy using BT to help my teammates, but it sucks when not everyone runs it and I or even other teammates suffer from it. I see where you come from though.
I don't think the DS change is such a stretch just because Bill runs a similar style perk. Okay so what do you think about Survivors having one opportunity to use DS without it being taken away from repairing gens or healing no matter what hook they are on, that way it isnt just being used on death hook, arguably Survivors would still use it only on death hook.
I was suggesting the voting idea based on other games I've played but I understand why that wouldnt work in the current game's setup. Also, I would like to mention that I do play both sides, and I agree, playing Killer is the best way to learn how to counter them. These were just some ideas that I quickly thought of. I really appreciate the reply!

That's old DS, it was changed due to frequent survivor abuse. It's not likely to be changed back.

Every time a game implements a similar sort of ban/avoid system, you find out just how many people will ban someone who's good at characters they don't like. Off the top of my head, Overwatch had something similar when it released, and all the good Widowmaker players found themselves basically excluded from games this way.
Imagine what would happen here. Bearing in mind that it would also only take one person in the lobby having a ban to prevent a match.
Yeah, I've seen the other side of that argument since this post. Been a fun day

Shouldnt there at least be something like a death switch? Like when the game realises that I really dont belong in this bracket and stand no chance no matter what I do that I get longer queue times but a bit more chill survivors? I honestly dont need to kill anybody to have fun in this game Im fine with all 4 getting out but being completely outclassed and getting pummeled and most of the time also treated incredibly toxicly after the games ist just sooo sooo unfun. And with it going on for such a long time without the MMR system apparently really working or saying well queue times for survs are more important than the killer having any fun in this game im honestly ready to uninstall again.
I think we all agree that there should be, yes.

Pick them up first or knock them back down after. What else do you need?
-
The sbmmr only truly functions correctly for people when there are a lot of people playing. The fewer people (specifically killers) playing, the worse it gets. As the system has been confirmed to prioritize queue times over anything else, if a survivor team is waiting long enough you will be matched with them regardless of whether you are anywhere close to the same mmr level.

bur in real life I won’t play with these people, I don’t like them. I don’t know why you can’t understand it, but probably this forum should be about 95% campers killers
All the old "nobody likes my half-thought out idea, so they must all be camping killer mains" probably my favorite DbD specific logical fallacy.
But hey, let's use a real world example to see if that helps you understand.
Let's say you are part of a small amateur football league. Now, one team has a player who every time you play, is able to slide tackle the ball right from under your feet, and bypass your goalie like he isn't there. Every time you face them you lose, because they play a lot more aggressively than your club does, and keep you on your heels.
Here you are saying that you shouldn't have to ever face that team, because losing to them makes you sad. They're playing the same game, by the rules established, but you don't like it, so you believe it should be changed. Meanwhile your goalie relishes the challenge, because he knows facing this club makes him that much better each time. The rest of the team may agree with the goalie, but you want to force them to play against only the opponents you like, regardless.
-

Unless I'm put on your team, and then the game has to look through the long list of killers who hurt your feelings by trying to win.

I prefer to wait 5 min more and play against a fair killer. And probably 99% of survs
"Fair"
That's a fun word to use here. That would imply you believe any playstyle you don't like to be unfair. Personally I like facing killers that try their best and use every tool available, including defending objectives (even hooks) and tunneling out strong survivors (being chased is the most fun part of the survivor experience, so I personally appreciate a killer who wants to chase me whenever they see me)
Those are in the game and not against the rules, so it's fair.
-
@dictep said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2755361#Comment_2755361
Only because you want the 4k. If you play fair, you probably would have fun doing 2k on average. You can’t 4k as perkless pig against a death squad swf, but you only play against this people because you camp/tunnel
That's a lot of assumptions to make about someone who you don't know. Should we also assume that you just want the 4E every game and want to block killers who have the audacity to not let you go?
-
@dictep said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2755349#Comment_2755349
And why killers can view the name of the survs and lobby dodge? It’s more difficult to find a match as surv and it doesn’t seem a problem
It isn't "more difficult" to find a match. It's still 1 button press either way. The queues for survivor are definitely getting longer, but that is due to how few killer players there are compared to survivors, so you blocking killers would actually increase the time you end up waiting for a match, as the pool of killers available to play with would shrink.
-
I agree, the scourge hooks offer a really interesting bit of strategy, that's instantly out the window when you load in and realize all 4 hooks are grouped on the far side from any activity. Makes agi and iron grip almost mandatory just to have a build that can consistently use them, which sucks.
-
@AngyKiller said:

Yeah but this would be abused to high hell. People would block Killers or Survivors that out play them, and those Killers and Survivors would have a harder time finding matches.
I've gone back and forth on that. I mean, the potential is definitely there, but (and this may just be my old man brain thinking people are better than they are) I don't think more than 5-10% of the playerbase is that sodium-filled. I do think it likely that streamers would have a much tougher time however, which isn't great.
-
And this is why I really wish there was the ability to block a player so you aren't matched either with or against them again. Sorry you have such a pain in the ass sore loser to deal with. I don't have any suggestions that weren't already offered

1. Extra BT.
No. Why should survivors, who already enjoy a 4 to 1 ratio, and therefore get 16 perks to 4 on the killer side, be given an extra perk for free? If you want BT, take BT. If you aren't willing to take it, you don't get it.
2. DS change. So you want it to be functionally impossible to pick a survivor up after 2 hooks? With no limits to DS after 2nd hook, that's hot garbage. Seriously, why? what actual lore or gameplay reason justifies this immunity? Also, how badly do you want to end literally every game by bleeding out? Because if I know ds will hit me for sure, I'm leaving you on the floor.
3. Lastly you believe that survivors should get to pick what killer the killer gets to choose? Hell no. Killer players aren't npcs for you to use and disregard. Neither side should get to tell the other what they can and can't bring within the game, especially what characters to use. Keep losing to the same killer? The solution isn't to try and ban that killer, it's to learn the counterplay. Why not take a break, or, even better, play as the killer giving you so much trouble. Best way to learn.
