The lighting in the past was so much better than the one we currently have. Just look at some old videos, and you will see what I mean.
And, to be honest, the lack of Fog is a massive issue. The Fog is extremely important to the game, in terms of lore and ambience. Especially ambience.
Here is an example:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJ1x79eDIWs
Maps in the past looked much better. Everything looked creepy. Everything looked good.
That is what DBD truly is.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree... I don't see an issue with the current lighting. besides being a bit brighter than it used to be.
So much fog... this game was already silent hill before we even got the silent hill chapter. XD
I always pictured in my head the fog dissipating and the trial appears. which is why there's almost no fog unless you use an offering. but yeah, a bit more fog would be good
-
power wise, hag already has trapper beat.
and she probably has the best trap based power that could exist. it works for tracking, chases, movement...
also, jason should not get a trap power anyway. he's not known for his trap setting skills, besides the 2009 remake. (which was fine but, you know... it's kinda not the same character)
-
I like everything in a single screen... but why show it to everyone else?

I don't think that is the issue. The main problem, in my opinion, is the weird lighting and lack of Fog.
what's weird about the lighting?
I don't see the lack of fog as an issue

Survivors. because the survivor playerbase is bigger.
% wise is basically the same... because entitled people aren't drawn to either role in particular.

I haven't. yet. I have the game, just gotta actually play it.

I doubt we even play on the same server... also I hardly ever commit a players name to memory on dbd. Even among the people that msg me afterwards.

I can relate to that, if we talk about the past. Nowadays, Swamp seems to have lost the feeling it once had.
I think the issue is that the borders of the map are quite... boring. There's nothing there.
At least on the salloom there's at least a few pallets.
If they cut down on the edges, the maps would improve a bunch
-
those usually happen on accident, you realize someone is doing a gen on the loop you are going to and there's nothing else you can do at that point besides leave the loop as fast as possible...
looping around a hooked person is what actually annoys me.
-
I like the swamp. The maps are quite unique and the aesthetic is probably the creepiest we currently have in the game.

swamp maps in video games always suck, change my mind
trick question, you can't
I can. Swamp levels are not universely bad, and suggesting this is just silly.
the swamps is MGS 3 for instance are pretty great.

So i made a post about how hag should be changed and got alot of backlash for almost no reason. One: the traps should have the faint glow from the killer pov to the surv pov so that you can actually see them. Two: have a second long delay when teleporting and attacking so that its possible to not instantly die to a scroll wheel hag.
So you just want to absolutely destroy hag... totally fair and reasonable...

Detective's hunch is already in the game and is better... it will get some use on release for the novelty, but will stop rather fast

1st, no, twins cant. They need to be 16 meters away to switch. The only way they could "camp" a hook better is by having Victor stand next to a hook and then never switch to Victor, which damages Twins' gameplay more than it will save it. It's a nice thing for the EGC, but during the normal game, it's bad. While Hag can just place traps willy nilly without affecting her gameplay too much.
2nd, sure, if they dont bring the most disgusting hag addons, anyone could deal with them by constantly triggering traps. Doesnt mean it's not an issue.
1st - Twins can literally be in 2 places at once. At any distance. The sister at 16 meters is more dangerous than hag running 40 meters while you are crawling away.
2nd - I said "camping hag", not "hag with only these addons and not these other ones"

That's not the point, of course Clown will receive his lore sooner or later, but it doesn't make sense to feature him in a Tome without giving him lore at the same time (and the Clown was just an example, they did the same thing for Oni, Claudette, Adam and in this tome with Zarina and Trapper)
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2240585#Comment_2240585
They'll see the challenge and go "oh, there's challenges for other killers" and move on
The majority of people of course, but still, can you say that no one would try and think about a reason for those challenges to be there?
why wouldn't there be? who said only 1 killer is allowed in each tome?
-
@Lycidas said:
Because "recently" they started adding challenges that don't make sense to the Tomes
The first one was during the halloween "event", when they added challenges for Clown and Adam even tho they had nothing related to them in the Tome.
Yes, both Clown and Adam had skins in the Rift, but aren't Rifts and Tomes two different things? The Tomes are going to always be available for completion to unlock characters' lore, while the Rift is time-limited.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2239175#Comment_2239175
It doesn't make sense to create the challenges based on the content of the Rift because how is the guy who started playing yesterday going to understand why there are Clown-related challenges in Tome V?
how is the guy who started playing yesterday going to understand why there are Clown-related challenges in Tome V?
... people are not this dumb.
They'll see the challenge and go "oh, there's challenges for other killers" and move on

A killer challenge that relies on the survivors to bring and use certain perks is pretty bogus. DS isn't very common anymore and I'd have to tunnel players to even try to find it, and For The People is a meme perk that's only going to be used to any extent for another challenge in this tome.
So no, I consider this undoable until I get Nemesis or Furtive Chase.
the person said it's locked behind a paywall, so I said ways of doing it that don't require paying anything (also you can get oni with the free currency, so it's not really a paywall)
-
@CakeDuty said:
I just realised that the only way to do this challenge is locked behind a Paywall, having to buy either Ghostface or Oni, or hope one of their perks gets put on the shrine (which it isn't). It's not a challenge you need to do to reach the end of the level, but still kinda scummy of them.
you can force a DS.
someone can use for the people.
-
last level had a "hook the obsession 6 times" challenge, and I did it in 1 game with nemesis. so it's very possible (you can also try to force a DS)

Well played mate lol you found the best path so well done.
Probably the longest I've spent in a while trying to find a good path lol

Says it saves 460,000 bloodpoints so it does the same thing 👍 seems like my path is more aimed towards killer challenges which is good.
Your one is better for someone who likes to play both killer and survivor regularly. Mines seemed to be pretty much only killer to complete the path lol

It says 460 000 because Alice changed the path itself without changing the value below. My first attempt saved 460 000, after correction It saves 480 000
^ that... I'm lazy XD

1.) As a killer, why would you slug for a 4k less than 3 min into a match?
2.) As a survivor, what do you do when a killer does this?
Just had a SM Meyers do this in a match, 1 died on 2nd hook, the rest on first hook.
been seeing this behavior a lot in killers recently and wanted some insight.
1) have a challenge for sacrificing all 4 survivors... or something like that.
I literally could have slugged for the 4k earlier today, got 1 person on the hook, downed 2 people that were close together and saw the 4th nearby (was playing legion, so they decided to remain injured, which made it easier to down them this fast.
and then I just let the 4th guy run to the hook and unhook the first guy while I hooked the other 2. because I also don't want to end the game that fast.
2) move on.

If she is also camping you can't crawl. Noobie hags trapping the hooks should go away, its pure cheese. At that point only a flashlight can put out the misery of the unlucky hooked survivor and that depends on luck or if you bring it from home.
if any killer is camping, it's harder to get the unhook...
and hag camping is worse than most, since she's 110% with no ranged attacks.

"and it takes a little bit of extra time, crounching when you get near a trap doesn't take much time."
It is true but after that both the unhooked and the savior have to crouch to get out of the zone and the little camper abomination is always near and coming back.
which is why I said the only change hag needs is for her traps, X meters from the hook, to get destroyed after the unhook.

Whats cute? Your act or your refusal to try to understand what Im saying because really, what you said previously really did clear a lot of things up
Its like saying "Trapper and Hag arent even comparable! What theyre trapping killers??? Oh so Trapper can teleport to his traps and Hag can make people stuck in her traps now???"
Again, sweetheart. They dont play EXACTLY the same, the way you play against them is DIFFERENT, but at the end of the day as a survivor youre guessing what theyre doing and the odds a heavily stacked against you with little to no options.
what's cute, is you being so defensive about it.
not everything that applies to one character applies to another. that is all.

1) I think Twins have to be reworked too referring as their camp potential
2) Yes, you can but it takes a huge amont of time and it is very much riskier than with other killer
I can't stand playing against Hags. I DC a lot against them and I am against to DCing.
I think hag's traps has multiple unfair issues being the most annoying these: insta teleport, insta hit and you can put the traps one next each other. The other day one Hag had put three traps in a row in the basement stairs, it is too much...
no killer is more dangerous while camping than bubba.
so "it is very much riskier than with other killer", absolutely not.
and it takes a little bit of extra time, crounching when you get near a trap doesn't take much time.
