Because you are calling a friend of mine "entitled" simply because he asked for a much needed QoL improvement.
You backing him up is admirable, I give you that, but I already conceeded that I made a wrong assumption. Still, when you say "you can't have the cake and eat it" and the other side says "yes, you can", what is that? Is it nothing? Something? Anything? Help me out here, you speak english better then me, maybe I am missing something :)

Ah yes, I hate when I lose my invisibility bell in this real world, it makes me so angry that I run around shocking people with the electricity I create in my hands.
It is a damn game. You can create whatever you want, and a QoL mechanic to avoid being taken hostage is hardly outlandish, compared to what we already have.
Seriously, dude, why are you so hellbend on NOT fingding common ground and vigoriously slapping away a hand extended in friendship and the honest effort to bridge differences?
But I guess some peeps are indeed "100% my way or no way" with no wriggle room. Sad.

So, again the discussion is heating up way beyond what was originally intended and the discussion is in danger of derailing. Lets try to sort things out a bit.

"Is the concept of humans walking though other humans more viable in a fictional horror video games?"
Yes.
Yes, it is.
You are playing a game that is set on a fictional realm beyond the universe, which is run by a spider-like goddess who feeds on emotions and sacrifices, which can be done by a guy who becomes invisible after ringing a bell.
Survivors walking through each other as a feature to prevent sandbagging is perfectly fine.
I get where you are coming from, but we need a certain baseline, otherwise you can pull everything out of the hat, no matter how outlandish and magically explain it away as "The Entity willed it". While technically possible, most stuff in The Entities realm is clearly modelled to work after the real world, albeit with a somewhat lovecraftian and mystical slant.

Ok, then I guess the question is since when can’t humans try and push a rude person in front of them out of the way?
I guess thats true and survivors sandbagging others for extended periods shouldn't be a thing. Maybe make the survivor exhausted after pushing, so that survivors would do it all the time just for the lulz, but only in desperate situations? It would suck to be exhausted for no reason at all, but thats a fleeting condition that we know how to deal with, and being stuck in a corner sucks even more.
This here, though, is a thing that I take some offense on, claiming "Yes, you can have the cake AND eat it" is hard to argue that thats not comeing off as at least rude and actually sounds pretty entitled.

Me not wanting to be sandbagged and bodyblocked in a corner isnt entitlement.
No, thats someone saying "I want to be able to bodyblock the killer, but not be bodyblocked by my fellow survivors, because I want to have the cake AND eat it." Thats as classic entitlement as it gets.

Well, THATS entitlement.

You did not just say that in the context of a fictional horror video game forum...
And why not? Is the concept of humans walking though other humans more viable in a fictional horror video games? Sandbagging for extended periods of time is bogus, but so is complete bodyblocking a dude build like a ton of bricks and probably weighting in as much. I always hated how bodyblocking often robs you as the killer of every possible opportunity to get at a survivor, but its part of the game and so I gotta deal with it. And so is bodybocking between survivors. But what that Cheryl did there was probably a bannable offense, so go ham at her.

Whenever I read a complaint about boring killers, I instantly have to think about how interesting running in circles around a rock feels.
For real, there are a few cutter tiles in auto haven that I didn't knew were infinitesimal until a Claudette ran them with such perfection that I just couldn't gain any ground at her ... and there was no palette to destroy. So I had to either bruteforce a 35s blood list tier 3, or brake chase. The hight of excitement.

This sounds like a "the grass is always greener on the other side" kinda problem.
I main Pyramidhead and only @GoodBoyKaru has more hours on him then me (joking :P but I guess it's around 400h+).
When I verse Pyramidhead myself the killer definitely has a very hard time against me, just because I know his kit inside out. Pyramidhead is hardly an uncounterable killing machine, his ultra clunky projectile is already seeing to that, but he is a very rewarding killer to git gud with, and rightly predicting a survivors pathing and landing a sick potd is the best thing this game has to offer.
The game already has much RNG hardbaked into its dna, so it's not bad when hard-earned skills are rewarded every now and then.
-
I actually miss the good olden days when you literally had to hold M1 or you would let got of the gen, that was much more immersive and fun.
Now with the toggle M1 the game is holding your hand that much that I sometimes are on the verge of dozing off, it's just that easy.

From my experience, if you wouldnt write gg, it would be better.
Its sometimes just rubbing salt in the wounds and is more passive aggressive. But just my opinion on it.
Hmm I guesscI know what you mean. In the face of a big loss/crushing defeat even well meaning words can easily be perceived as condescending and gloating.
I guess it's best to just silently slink into oblivion and the next game, unless the defeated side wants to talk about the match themselves.
I guess I'll change my MO then. Thanks.

My solution that I would want to see realised:
1) every TV set is linked to a gen. To work on the gen you have to take out the corresponding tape.
2) TVs cooldown after teleporting to should be much much slower or even have no cooldown at all,but the ability should have a small CD like Nurse's blink or Blights dash.
3) something something about her manifestation. It's pretty weak as it is right now. Maybe give her a more pronounces speed boost? But that would make her just like a Wraith variation.

I’m not a fan of “gg.” I feel like the trolls took a positive sentiment and turned it into something that could be a passive aggressive taunt. You can’t tell any more if someone is being genuine- especially not via on screen text.
Now if someone says “gg” and they lost, you know they have sportsmanship and mean it. But to stomp an entire team with Starstruck/Infectious Nurse within 5 mins, and no one got higher than 6K? That is not a “good” game. That was an ass whoopin. Why would you tell someone “good game” when obviously it was not for them?? It was a good game only for you.
I’m on Xbox, and from time to time players (survivors & killers) will message me “gg.” It’s mostly when they win, though. I rarely ever got a “gg” as killer for killing survivors, or “gg” from a killer who got 2K or less.
I know what you mean, but on one hand gg is something like a universal phrase to say after a game. Even when I dominate I say gg; a few times survivors objected, but I asked them "what else should I say,bad game? Yall gave your best".
A few times when I not only dominated, but utterly stomped the survivor team I might say something "oof, sorry about that, but gg. GL and HF next game"

Just Saying
I am trying really hard to empathise with you and see things form your POV, but I must be too limited in my capacity,so please help me with a few key points.
1) is soloQ players needed as a punching ball, so that a buff to soloQ players only leaves us with the option of deleting the killer role?
2) how is me throwing shade at your unrelated comment showing my indecency to acknowledge the state of the game? Criticising your way of expressing your opinion doesn't translate to me agreeing to the state of the game in any way.
3) how does my choice of a pfp, ie the killer Clown, to my comment being any less valuable or valid? Is there a ranking of pfp that factor into this? Do certain pfp have to bow down to others? Are only survivor pfp allowed to voice opinion about survivor matters and vice versa? In that light your objection makes even less sense since clown is a killer. I am honestly lost for direction here, so please help a bro out.
Or maybe we shouldn't try to bash our heads in over nothing AND maaaybe also learn a bit about debating, discussing, reasoning and he whole culture behind this.
Happy gaming, Mr Nemesis.

Damn near every match has been a Starstruck Wesker running Distressing, and it's getting really tiresome literally being on the otherside of the map and still getting exposed. Why is his so damn huge?
Because as soon as you hear him we could be up your throat with a double dash and a standard 32m TR.
There could be made a case for Nurse and Blight to also get bigger TRs, either they are testing the waters with Wesker, or it's just part of his kit, I sometimes build my main strategy around his ginormous TR and hardly use his power at all, same as a Horder/Franklin's Pinhead might not use his M2 chains all game.

While you can generally have a good idea where survivor spawn, sometimes the game does funky things. I had a game where the survivor spawned on a gen near where I spawned, but since I assumed the survivors would be on the opposite side of the map I ended up wasting time looking for survivors who were near me the whole time.
Lethal Pursuer makes those uncommon situations easier to deal with. Plus it has an extra bonus effect with other aura reading perks.
Normally at the start of the match I would look around, decide for a medium distance gen and 8/10 times finder it brimming with repair work being done.
But last time I had a game were ALL survivors spawned on the gens in my back that were literally the last place I would have looked,ie easy first gen done with no pressure from my part. Here Lethal Pursuer gave a lot of value!
And I love pairing it with I am all ears, giving you full knowledge of fleeing survivors flight vector or when they try to be cute and just stand still at a corner .

People use the term "throwing " very loosely these days. Survivor game play got a lot tighter, but you still got a bit of leeway and can afford to play a bit suboptimal without "outright throwing".
CoH is nearly always the best way for survivors to utilise totems, but for a while I ran a total bone hunter build and cleansed all 5 totems. I prevented a few NOEDs this way, but it didn't happen often enough to warrant "doing bones" all the time, which I personally find sad. So please give killers a one-down basekit NOED so that we all can do bones as much as we want :>
-
What I noticed is a lot of this: I say "gg", and the survivors respond with
"No gg! You did this and this during the match!!!" *seeth mald rage cope*
So just shrug and accept that they are sore losers and move on.

@Laluzi said:
God, you're on this again? This is what, the fourth thread about this in a week?
It's incredible that somehow you think it's healthier for the game's community to have killers unequivocally murder everyone and promote a 'no fun allowed' environment because you're so butthurt over the idea that other survivors did cute things that made the killer like them more than you. Because from where I'm standing? The real toxicity is this idea that it's unfair and unacceptable that the killer was nice to someone who wasn't you.
Today I played a match on Dead Dawg. Claudette was first down and tried to suicide on hook - she DCed when I reached her before she could get out the easy way. The Wesker kept playing normally after that, but I noticed he seemed to be slugging people who were on death hook instead of hooking them (while making no attempt to defend the slugs), and there was one moment earlier in the match where I beckoned him (I was trying to get him to chase me instead of Jonah, who was first on death hook) where I thought he might have been following me around instead of actually trying to kill me, at least until I pallet stunned him. So I took a chance and went table dancing after he slugged me on the down that should have taken me out of the game. He table danced with me and then left. I collected items for an item shop instead of continuing to work on gens, since I was only alive at his sufferance anyway. A few minutes later, he killed the other two players, then came back to my Jane Mart and led me to the hatch.
Jonah and Kate probably weren't happy about dying while I was being useless, but from how long it took for him to chase them, it looked like Wesker gave them the chance to play around and they didn't take it, and he was willing to farm or fool around but not hand out a free win if they weren't going to acknowledge him. He won the match at 3 gens and they only got more gens done because he let them get back up (and then wasted time with me.) Personally I think what happened here was way a healthier experience than Wesker just massacring everyone after the Claudette was a typical ragequitting baby. Which is what you're asking killers to do.
But it doesn't matter either way. People are going to play how they want. Sparing a survivor/choosing to kill one over the other is not the same as working with them no matter how many times you repeat this falsehood; it's only against the rules when you solicit the survivor for information or they help bodyblock their teammate instead of just ignoring them and going your separate ways. And if I'm sparing Zarina because I think she was a better looper or more of a team player than Dwight, I don't give a damn how Dwight feels about that - next time he can try being a better teammate. The number one reason I will choose to spare a particular survivor is because one of the last two is trying to do gens and the other is hiding waiting for them to die.
Like, it'd be one thing if you were just talking about snitches. Snitches are trash and deserve punitive action. But you're not - you hate memeing survivors, you hate killers having favorites. If it bothers you so much that the killer might be kind to someone who wasn't you, quit spectating and just move onto the next match. I cannot overstate enough how much this is a you problem and not a problem problem.
Angels to some, Demons to others.

Victim blaming. Projecting t-bagging behavior on me lol
I see no victim here, only one angry, salty shepherd who is sad that he got no hatch this game and decided to write a whole post about it with whom the vast majority of other players can't sympathize in the slightest. I would chose a different hill to die on, mate, this one ain't worth it.

Huh ... when I first clicked on this thread I didn't know what to expect, but this isn't half bad actually.
Maybe we could compensate by making the generator lights seen from afar actually correspond to how repaired they are? Because a system like this will put a lot of stress into the killer role, which is already stess packed to the brim. But I always felt that DBD was lacking a catch up mechanic, ie when one side was utterly dominating the other basically had no way of catching up and turning the tables, unless they are playing Myers and suddenly everyone is bleeding on the floor :D
People always counter with "oh, so you should be rewarded for losing?" and "Awesome idea, punish me for playing good /s" and while this is valid, I still think that a catch up mechanic or safety net wouldn't be a bad thing.

Lol no. There was a message during the loading screen for the anniversary masquerade that specifically has one staff member say that people who give the other side a break while dominating are awesome. If this was really breaking the rules they would never encourage this behaviour.
Besides with the amount of people I let go (basically everyone if I don’t need to pip and they don’t ask me to kill them) id have been banned ages ago. Many appreciate being let go. I’ll still try and 2 hook everyone, give them a challenge but ill ultimately let everyone leave.
Don’t work for the other side means if you are part of a team, you aren’t allowed to deliberately sabotage it. The killer letting some survivors go doesn’t matter because they are only hurting themselves. Showing mercy either by allowing the killer to kill you after everyone has escaped or the killer allowing survivors to escape isn’t what this means.
My Bubba will never remove his "hatch gift"-charm from his hooks.

or you could do your job and kill everyone, and not ruin people's experience by having them watch you play favorites. it doesn't feel good. use whatever reasoning you want, you are frustrating the other players and making them upset as to why you allowed that surv to escape. this is especially magnified when things went on during the match on survivor side, that you as killer have no clue about. say the one you "liked", refused to unhook, or sat in a crouched corner instead of doing a gen at a crucial time, and here you come and pull this. is it too much to ask to simply do your job and kill everyone.
Dude! I normally have a modicum of sympathy and empathy for the other persons plight in this discussions here, even when I am in the opposing camp I can at least understand on an intellectual and conceptual level, what their problem is, but your problem right here, right now is so out there, so detached from normal human experience levels, that I can just smh and laugh in your face.
I sweat all month to get to Iri1, just so that I can relax and freely give hatch to the cutes survivor in the match in the last week. That small surrender t-bag, thats very distinct from the angry or gloating t-bag is so heartwarming, and nothing beats the fuzzies I get from searching for the hatch together. So you do you, but you should also work on your jealousy and envy management, as those make you wanna spoilt the fun for everyone else: "If I can't get it, no one should get it!".
Lets go one extra step: if killers don't seem to regularly let YOU escape and give YOU the hatch, what could you have been doing that tilted them during the match? Are you just a god at looping and never get caught? Some killers love to reward a good player with the hatch. But maybe you t-bag after every vault and palette drop, accentuated by a flashlight light show? Who knows, but peeps who do so get no hatch from me, thats for sure. Just saying ... so reflect on your own playstyle and think how that one might be ruining other players fun in the game, instead of lashing out to the only wholesome parts in this cesspool of toxicity.

Is this what happens when all the kids who threw themselves on the ground in a tantrum over not getting a new toy at the super market grow up and start playing games?
Is it the result of everybody gets a trophy day events so no one has to feel like they lost thus they never learned to cope with losing?
This community baffles me in how delicate it is over every perceived slight. When its such an adult genre, survival horror.
"I'm gonna play this violent game where you have to escape from some monster a la 1980's slashers flicks, but no one is allowed to kill me or stab me or make me feel like my fun is under threat, and everybody has to play fair!"
I had this neighbour when I was a kid who was always threatening to take their toys and go home if they didn't get their way, at some point you just gotta say ok go home then I'll see you later.
For real, every time you think that you have sorta seen it all, this community jumps over all your expectations from a standing start and just runs for it. :D When some peeps here say that people will just whine about everything they weren't exaggerating.

Oh yes this nemesis picture is old from December of 2021. What happened was i had to do a sabo challenge and i as soon as i loaded into the match i saboed a hook and he chased me and i got facecamped. Again the match just started so its not like I prevented him from getting a hook i just went or a random hook and he got mad😂. Still congrats. I do have a video of me getting facecamped by a pinhead after a two mintues chase as well.
Sabo builds are one of the most aggravating things to verse as a killer and probably an easy way to tilt me and make me tunnel you. Lol.
Yeah, some may chime in "big oof for tunneling someone out just for playing the game/using perks you don't like", but yeah, that's the thing. Those peeps that are good at it can deny you of a lot of hooks and you might end the game with 1 or 2 hooks total. Sabo builds are really a pet peeve of me, so I might go out of my way to stop them. BUT someone who saboes every hook they can find is probably just going for a hook challenge and poses no threat.
Same like Glyphs. Usually I stop in my tracks when I notice a survivor communing with a glyph and just stare at them while doing it, but I do appreciate some kindness in return. The cool survivors will let you hit them and resume the chase from that point on, but some will just t- bag you and vault away.

Sounds like some kind of bug. NOED is actually supposed to be Wraith's basekit, so you would be playing at a severe disadvantage without NOED.

First off, I'd just like to say that I have around 600ish hours of survivor and a bit of killer. The problem I'm having is the fact that I'm getting really bad teammates. Most of the time when I get hooked, no one saves me and I end up dying on first hook even with kindred. I'm at a sort of at an elo hell of getting bad teammates that don't do gens, and even if I loop the killer for a long time, I eventually make some sort of mistake or bloodlust gets to me and I go down. Then, once down, I usually see my teammates doing one of three things:
Hiding (in a locker or urban evading)
Running around
Doing gens (preferable)
Now, to ask my question, how do I get out of this low MMR nightmare? I can sometimes get good teammates if I manage to escape, but if I die even once, then I go right back to ######### teammates. I usually run meta builds (dead hard, prove thyself, adrenaline, balanced landing, unbreakable, etc.), but that's purely because of my playstyle. Is there any strategies I can use to get out of this and if it's possible to stay at a mid-high MMR upon death? I have a decently high MMR on killer (finding lobbies with pretty high prestiged players) which is weird since I'm a survivor main.
Camp, slug and tunnel. Sweat hard for the 4k (3k+hatch is also OK, though) and very, very soon you'll leave the low MMR ranks way behind.

I facecamped for the first time in ages, yesterday.
I got send to badam preschool and could find no one, besides that very obnoxious Cheryl that kept flashlighting me and tried to be really annoying. Normally it's my policy to utterly ignore attention seekers and go for others, but this time I just couldn't find anyone and all I would find were empty yet progressively finishing gens.
So eventually I chased Cheryl, who was very elusive, and when I downed her, facecamped her in the most blatant way possible at two gens remaining. I prolly saw the other survivors, traded a few hooks, eventually had two survivors dangling at the same time and ended the game with an unreserved 2k.
-
Calling unreleased perks and killers OP before they even release and calling for nerfs will forever hold this game back and prevent truly innovative and different perks and killers to emerge. This way all the devs can do is to play it save ie same old, same old.
99ing the exit gates is a tactic that in 99% of the time is of no detriment to the survivors, but 100% counters a fun, yet totally underplayed and mostly ineffective endgame perk.
Perks shouldn't be balanced and the smallest possible inconvenience, but just be working differently with problematic killers. So many fun perks needed to be nerfed, "because Nurse would be too strong with this". Then change it for Nurse, but let Trapper have something cool once in a while, too.
-
Yes, but it's all about incentivising those full-time campers that another playstyle is needed of they want their kills. If the camping meta isn't working anymore we will probably (hopefully) see a meta shift.
And some stuff will always be able to ruin your game, but we can try to minimise that.
-
@Pulsar said:
I'm honestly ready to start testing actually punishing people for camping at this point.
Increase Reassurance range to 12m, so that you can actually punish facecamping Bubbas and buff Kinship,so that it works on both hook stages (needs separate activations,of course) and shows up with a timer on everyone's screen/HUD. This way you could equip both perks, of you really hate camping, even though it can be a rather wholesome team building activity, and do your business with the knowledge that your personal hook stages will last up to 3mins: enough to basically finish the whole trial for your team mates and maybe convince the killer to do something more engaging then staring at your face.
