Everytime someone suggested killers being able to abandon, it typically gets shot down since they still have a chance to make a comeback. How is this any different?
they should reduce the 10minute afk abandon to 5 minutes. but killer doesnt really need one as the EGC ends the game and the killer can always force survivors out.

It's mostly only annoying when they turn a paragraph of information into an essey. Other then that it can be a pretty useful tool for non English natives.
agreed. however this isn't about people using it to translate, but even then there are resources available to help understand other languages that don't destroy the planet :D

would be so sick! i used to love using the rappels on black ops zombies it was good times. i think ziplines would fit right into dbd!

I know alot of pc user won’t agree with this , but as a console user I feel it’s so unfair that only pc users have access to this PTB update …. Obviously it’s for a reason I’ve played for years and understand this. But some do not have access or means to a pc or they simply prefer console use. I feel releasing this PTB would be more beneficial to yous (the devs) because the gameplay is slightly different for console users. I’m not sure if a PTB would be accessible to console users but it should!
console users have to wait to use the new chapter- (new killer/survior and updates/ reworks) and some would love to give feedback about their PTB experience like myself!this may seem like an odd statement/ opinion, however I feel that it’s valid!!
Appreciate if anyone understood!
:)))))valid. we got a ptb for rust when i used to play on xbox. idk why bhvr dont do it, they have the money

I love that the idea of trying to win as killer using efficient strategies is considered toxic in this game. You guys realize it is a PVP game, right? The goal is to win? That is like saying that survivors doing generators too fast is toxic; which it isn't.
The goal of a PVP game is to win, guys. How you do it, as long as you are not using cheats, should be up to you as the player. The reason killers camp is the same reason survivors split off onto different generators as quickly as possible: Pressure the enemy team.
yall say this but then slug and bleed people out when they do play the way they want, bring anti tunnel? tunnelled. sabo? bled. stealthy? rats. bled out. likeeee

It's honestly hilarious how many people are losing their mind already over this update without having even tried the changes. And if killers end up being too weak, BHVR can still buff killers in healthy ways, like increasing the numbers of the rewards that killers get when hooking a survivor that wasn't the last one hooked.
But most importantly, these changes will create a much more healthy foundation for DBD, where tunneling and slugging aren't as overpowered anymore and playing in a fun way is more effective now. Further balancing can then happen down the line.
long gone are the days of unemployed killers bleeding people out then going afk !!!!! ive said for years dont be surprised when bhvr implement counters to slugging and tunnelling and its finally here xdd if it isnt the consequences of their actions.
a lot of good changes ! dbd could soon be fun again

edit: (i was talking about the zombies) but they will be gone thankfully

This new update is so survivor sided they already got enough perks to counter tunnelling and slugging but no they need their hand held they whole way though at this rate killers won't play and survivors will just all wear the same outfits so they get that buff for the rest of the trails is so unfair for killers after this update
i do agree clown was a broken to hell even i wouldn't wanna play against him but i won't take hit for DCing
i fell like the dev dont listen they just act start changing things hoping for the best how about fix all of the bugs FIRST then look at other things right now you are gonna lose lot of killers and survivors will be sat waiting for 40 minutes wondering why they still ain't in a game yet and that is due to this update
Let's not forget the past 10 years of survivor being more or less the exact same. its about time survs get something, killers get a new power every season basically.

Like I'm glad there fixing the Kidnap Tech but why isn't he getting more nerfs?
He's easily the most hated killer in the game due to his free hits, short cooldowns, getting grabs hits threw objects and walls and generally unfun to go against.
Like c'mon devs you can squeeze in an extra nerf or two to him.
they need to revert that brown basekit add on !!!!!!! or LESSEN it by like 30%. its currently increasing slide after pounce by 100% isnt it? icr but it just makes him brainlessly spam power and yeet yourself in front of the survivor its so booty hole

Why shouldn’t they? Theres been a massive influx of players because of Tokyo Ghoul and FNaF, and there’s over 50 outfits that are being gatekept because of some FOMO bs. I’ll use Helldivers as an example, Warbonds and store items are always available, so there’s no FOMO, and the Devs have stated they’d bring back the pre order armors so everyone has a chance to enjoy them.
because i paid and grinded for them thank you very much.
-
@TheSingleQuentinMain said:
I do not own the Ghoul, I have not played the Ghoul, and if I did, I am absolutely certain I wouldn't mind him as much as I do. It's one of those things where it looks unfair from my side, but genuinely takes a lot of skill from the other side. Again, I don't really know, but I assume it is that way cause it tends to be.
The ghoul is my most hated killer in DBD. I would rather fight Legion/Oni in 2v8 without a doubt. I'd rather fight nurse/blight, etc. That said, DO NOT SKULL MERCHANT HIM! He's annoying, overpowered, and he adds to the sense of dread I have when I hear a New Chapter is coming out. That does not mean you should nuke him, and then leave him for dead like Skull Merchant. I hated her too, maybe more than other people because I overhyped myself, thinking she was going to be the Terminator. Still, I did not like how they handled her nerfs.
For Kaneki, most people I assume hate him because:
- The Free health state, and deep wound.
- The way the attack kind of bugs out sprint burst and impacts certain perks in seemingly unintentional ways.
- Can easily catch you out in a dead zone, and kind of produces a lot of them.
Other killers with similar problems exist, and they do have people who hate them, but they tend to have an excuse for it.
Legion has to actually reach his target, which means he has to avoid being pallet stunned, spend a good amount reaching his target, and doesn't really have the tools to down you with an M1.
Singularity can catch you out in a dead zone pretty easily, but doing so puts him in a wake up state for 1.7 seconds, giving you about 6 meters leg up on him, and he doesn't have a guaranteed injured state like Kaneki.
As far as solutions to these problems go, I have an imperfect set of changes that I would like to hear critique on. These are subject to being buggy.
From now on, the tendrils have a longer pull time depending on how far the target is. If they latch onto pallets or windows, the pull is faster, and if not, it's slower (Note: Grabbing the pallets/vault location is not faster than his tendrils currently work. It's just faster than walls or props.) This way in dead zones with no pallets/windows, his ability is weaker, and your not in a dead zone, his power is a little stronger.
This also might add more nuance to this killer, as this gives incentive to leave pallets up for quicker maneuverability, similar to Dracula and his bat form teleport.
As for the free health state, at very least they should remove deep wounds. It's not like Legion who has a mechanic centered around it (hitting a deep wound person shuts off power unless it's the 5th person) or Death slinger who you can dodge the attack from without cover (it's not easy, but Kaneki can only miss if there is cover).
To me, there's an important rule of killer design: whatever utility the power has needs a way it's outclassed by not using the power, other than just ability cooldown or skill requirement. If you use Hillbilly's chainsaw to break a pallet in 1 second, you have the downside of spending 2 seconds winding it up. If you use Huntress Melee hatchets to cut down on chase, you sacrifice 1 second of wind up, for an attack that's more avoidable than a point blank melee attack, to save 0.9 seconds on attack cooldown. If you're sneaking around as wraith, you literally can't attack people until you decloak.
Some killers break these rules, such as Ghost face and how his night shrouds only down side is you can go on cooldown when revealed, but such benefits are given in very minor doses. I don't know of anyone arguing Ghost face is overpowered.
Kaneki however, I feel has so much maneuverability, but not even some of the downsides other killers do.
Edit: I take that back. He does have down sides to using his ability, but there's so many little upsides that it's kind of null. But in terms of other killer equivalents to his power, most of them have way better weakness.
Pallets Vaults: Mastermind pays with a wind up period so you can run away, and Legion has a 2 second Feral Frenzy cooldown so he can't hit you right after the pallet vault. Roughly the same applies to their window vaults.
Free Health state: Plagues infection takes a good amount of time actively or passively. Legion, we already know isn't going to down you to easily with just Frenzy.
i hate the ghoul :( he's like a gentrified legion… all the legion players who like easy injuries have moved onto the ghoul bc hes low skill easy wins :( the whole gameplay loop is just such a snooze…. loop ghoul > out play ghoul > ghoul vaults over pallet and wins bc they vaulted the pallet :( if i act sad enough maybe the devs will feel sorry for me and nerf him :( :(
i like blight, double speed blights can choke but i like blight, mainly because he actually requires skill, not like this ghoul guy :(

I’ve been playing Dead By Daylight almost everyday for 6 months now, and I’ve been a life long Castlevania fan. Unfortunately, I missed out on the Deep Rift versions of Soma and Dracula’s True Form, and in my opinion, you shouldn’t gatekeep these cosmetics from new players for a few reasons
One, most people on Reddit and X seem to agree that they should return in one way or another, if the intended purpose was to give something to flex, and most people wouldn’t mind them returning, why not bring them back?
Another reason, think of the money. I’ve seen the many people that want a certain Mikaela skin to be brought into the store, and I’m sure if you introduced the Deep Rift cosmetics into the store, I’m sure many people them.
I know there’s many licensed Deep Rift variants, while I don’t know much about licensing and negotiations, I’m sure that since the base versions have returned to the stores, license holders would allow Deep Rift variants to return as well.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope that this topic is in discussions. P.S. Please don’t cook me in the comments 🙏🏻
i hope they dont release them. i like having exclusive cosmetics. bite me.

I mean, I'd rather it be killswitched for a while until it no longer gives perma-Finesse with certain perks than having a repeat of the Streetwise debacle and having a tsunami of hatred fall upon the devs until they killswitch it anyway.
It's annoying that a new perk is killswitched, I agree, but it's not going anywhere and since the game also isn't going anywhere anytime soon then it's just a matter of time until it can be used again and window saves can be done again.
there's a PTB for a reason. things people have bought with real money shouldn't be unavailable to use for this amount of time.
and it's more than annoying honestly, it's point blank ridiculous… and a massive kick in the teeth to everyone who did buy it. i don't care if i'll be able to use it in another month from now or what, i've already given them my money. as a business this is absolutely unacceptable, especially from a business as big as BHVR's.
people with this mindset are why they don't take things as seriously as they should. you keep being fine with every error they make and suddenly there's a million more. apologies if i went off on you there but it really is unacceptable and idk why so many people are fine with these kinds of issues.

you must be one of the lucky ones who live close to server locations. i live over 270 miles away from london, 700 miles from frankfurt and 280 miles from ireland…if im not getting f'd by regional ping issues im getting vpn'ers from russia or china making the game unplayable im so over it

Works like pocket sand, beginning of the trial you spawn with an empty pouch, unless you have an add on which spawn with a charge in it, when used it loses the add ons but it can be refilled by crouching, which will prompt a 10 second bar, has like 3-5 skill checks, which gives the pouch a charge back, but the add ons are random which gives it the different effects, say one add on is like tactical stone, dirt has a stone in it - killer stunned for 3 seconds, another can be like mud - blinds killer for 2 seconds, last could be like fine dirt - smoke screen like the fog vial
we already have dirt in dead by daylight, shes called the skull merchant

i know which is why i'm upset, a zombie head charm or regans nail bat or something would've been nice.
badges and banners are the equivalent to my devotion rank » useless

i think its fine, its a very niche perk and if someone is running it they've probably got an entire build for it, meaning no second chance, no anti tunnel, no gen rush… lets be real without plot twist that perk is bunz and even then plot twist requires time down on the ground not doing gens, whilst also going somewhere to not get caught.. if it gets nerfed it will be useless and then it's back to DS,OTR, deja vu, resi.

You realize your also basing on "what ifs". After all, "what if" your wrong? Above you say that inTCM if you asked them to speak they spoke, yet thats not always true, infact once when one of us spoke he was actually told to shut up. "What if" something like this happens? Mute it? Then our prediction above begins happening. Unable to mute it? Well thats a bad box of chaos to open. Even if we are basing on "what ifs", it does not detract the fact of theres currently things like discord for people who want to chat with each other.
How are you gonna say i'm asking to bring comms to dbd based on "what ifs" then "what if" your next question. makes no sense.
Also im not basing anything on what ifs, its a fact that comms would make dbd fun again, comms makes everything fun. rather than adding buffs to surv that arent needed which inevitably makes the killer role feel even more awful to play.
and about being told to shut up…. MUTE!
and lastly, i want comms in dbd FOR SOLO Q. idc about premade swfs on discord. thats not what im talking about. AND EVEN THEN, how is everyone so againt the idea of comms in dbd then so fine with people using discord like make it make sense it sounds like you just want to gatekeep comms from solo q players or something like i genuinely cant find a reason that isnt you guys just being scared of social interactions lmfao.

I don't care for it at all and it goes against the Dead By Daylight formula for me.
Organic, quiet communication between players has always been the funniest and most disarming aspect of the match.
There's a coup de Grace, but we won't get into that just yet.
Survivors crouch spamming, nodding and pointing. Killers shaking their heads and meleeing a generator sort of thing. That's part of what makes DbD magical.
Survivors in a tight little congo line or dancing or bobbing heads is very cute and disarming to Killers in a certain way, and there is an anonymity to it all. It's refreshing to come in from the slur-filled audio chats of Call Of Duty and Halo into something so blatantly silent and devoid of noise. As a survivor, audio is a massive component of the game - hearing heartbeat, lullabies, killer audio cues, skill check warnings, even hearing an injured friend nearby to heal them. Having folks yap over it all would become a problem, it would mess up a lot of what makes DbD special, and it would likely NOT add to the experience in the long run.
At very, very low levels communication may be helpful, but the amount of toxicity in the playerbase would only grow in how problematic it is. I know we'd like to think that the non PC player in your lobby would be so polite and demure if only they knew you were in that locker - but prepare for the whiplash of reality when some guy has his mic on and you hear his breathing and parents washing dishes in the background alerting the killer to your shared location.
Get ready for players to start feeling less secure because speaking up is going to make strangers creep on them because they sound effeminate.
Prepare yourselves for toxic memers blasting THE VENGABUS IS COMING at 9000% volume
But here's the coup de grace
Remember when players weaponized flashlight clicking to cause seizures in sensitive rivals and annoy the rest?
I bet you all the money in the world they'd do the same thing with the audio system and, if anything, just spam slurs to annoy others.
One of the best things about Dead By Daylight is the externalization of the vocal community with the advent of Discord.
People can be safe and warm up to strangers and eventually chat with them as friends on their console platform, Steam, or even a third party app like Discord in the long run.
Overall, survivor gameplay is extremely - I mean EXTREMELY simple.
- You repair generator.
- If bad guy chase, engage chase.
- If need, unhook.
- If can, heal.
- Bad guy near no see, hide.
- If flashy save yes then do.
- Glowy Skull is cleanse.
- Toolbox if panic.
- Tee bag at exit
It's a very, very, very simple formula. Seeing who's on generators, healing, and in chase takes care of almost all the needed communication at any point.
I can see survivors being able to use VC to talk before and after matches - but for WITHIN matches, it does not add any mechanical or logistical benefit, will cause massive amounts of problems, and behavior has enough problems trying to track down abusers even without an entire sensory format of communication being open. There's just so little to gain and a lot to hate.
and its boring. NEXT!

You want the entire catalogue?
Ok.
Things that would render it a disaster and waste of precious time that could ne spent doing ANYTHING else:
- DbD community has proven numerous times that they WILL be annoying and a**holes towards everyone and anyone. They managed to create toxicity out of thin air. This would give them a free reign.
- Both Discord and SWF exist already, why the hell bother with making this basekit?
- Most people would mute it, and the option HAS to be there, so the better part of the community will ignore this. So you will mostly talk to the air. (What a good use of dev time!)
- Language barriers. Don't pretend you would easily understand a russian or a korean or a czech or a german, or literally anyone who speaks a different language than you.
- Not everyone has a setup that can support voicechat. There are people who are glad they can play the game on a 8 years old crusty computer.
- If we have learn ANYTHING from the devs, their code can break easily, and on the simplest of tasks too.
- There are already other measures being done AS OF NOW that are trying to adress this exact thing.
yeah we're done here, everything you say is just a lazy excuse. its nearly 2030 and you're advocating to NOT have comms in a multiplayer videogame i cannot cope. good bye.

It would not save solo-queue at all. F13 and TCM both had voice chat built in. They were rarely used and when they were it was 50/50 at best whether it would be used for the intended purpose. Now try and tell me that the DbD community wouldn't be at least as bad if not worse.
oh so this is a straight up lie. I was an avid TCM player and can say with experience it made TCM 1000000% times better and majority of the time if someone didnt speak, you ask them to speak and they spoke. dont just come on here lying to people man.

When its off how would you be able to communicate? We assure you over 80% would have it muted after the first week or so at best and a lot sooner at worse, meaning you wouldn't be able to communicate after that time with a majority of the players. If you wanted to communicate with people why not invite them to a discord or something? That way you can chat with people who'd actually want to chat.
you cant assure anything because its never been implemented, meaning you have no idea how anything will play out. your only reason for not wanting it is based on "what ifs". therefore is not reasonable.

Putting a color filter in the game takes way less time and effort than a full on voice chat.
I just do not think giving the most toxic playerbase ever a new tool to be s**** towards eachother.
Mr TTVstreamer with 5 viewers will not tell me helpful info, he will curse my entire bloodline to die of tuberculosis because I dropped shack pallet.
ALSO, this would only work in USA and maybe Australia. Not everyone is english.
you're literally grasping at straws, im sorry but first its "nobody will use it" then its "too much effort" then its "no one will speak english" lmfaooooo. Also you're so self centered, not everyone who plays dbd speaks english.

Every time I've tried meeting people through DbD and playing SWF, I've gotten more and more uncomfortable with each session until I started hiding my online status at all times (this was before DbD's in-game friend's list, which totally ignores PS4's online status setting and would mean even more problems). It did not help that basically any time I had any interaction with anyone from the game, they always seemed to still be in high school. Being an adult talking to someone in high school only made it more uncomfortable. I think even without social anxiety I would absolutely hate being forced into that.
turn it off then? no would be trying to stop you. just because you dont want something doesnt mean you have to disregard everyone who does want it because you have few issues. i have social anxiety too, doesnt stop me wanting to be able to communicate with my team mates in team based games.

Have you ever been in a social situation where everyone is busting each other's balls but it's pretty playful/casual and then you have that one person that doesn't get it and they take it to heart and storm off and kinda ruin the whole thing? No one will ever admit it, but that one person is the DBD community.
You're right that comms would save solos by bridging the gap between them and SWFs. Like any comm system, it'd give you the ability to opt in or out as well. But no matter how you package it, the devs and the community will always reject it.
BHVR has managed to change the way the game is played in all kinds of ways, veering heavily away from the hide and seek model, but they are still adamant that a lack of information is vital while ironically the game is gearing up to be tourney ready; Killers reject it wholesale because it eliminates the age-old "but SWFs cheat by using comms" argument and gives them less to feel victimized over; and Survivors are terrified of being called mean names, as if this is the first game they've ever played and they can't handle social interactions that aren't always the most pleasant.
This is all my opinion, naturally. But I do believe it to be true.
nice to see someone with a brain

Yes.
I can guarantee half of the people would turn it off instantly, so it would eventually go to waste.
i cant stand ppl with this mentality. hindering the evolution of a game because YOU dont want something. typical dbd players. accessibility options get turned off by half the player base, do you think they're a waste too?

there’s an app called discord everyone that plays cross platforms uses it. It even transfers to my PlayStation. I play with ppl on pc in a party chat, on discord.
you're acting like i dont know what discord is lmao, i play with my friends on discord regularly, but if solo q ever wants to have a "feel good" play, comms is the only thing that can and will ever revitalise it. no amount of QOL will ever bring what comms could. youre so condescending for no reason

or you could party up with your friends
tell that to all the 60%+ solo q players, or people wanting to play with their crossplatform friends

Racism, ear-shattering noises, people with awful mics talking like they are in a crypt, music blasting, arguments, people yelling at you in a different language and so much more.
This would await us with voice chat.

Majority of players would turn it off very quickly…
Proximity chat can create some fun situation, but in most cases it will be used for insulting others.
no they wouldnt, idk what bubble you're living in but every game where comms is available to be used, it gets used.
