  • I've said before, they need to fix the cause, not the symptom. But nope, they are just fixing symptoms.

  • At least you admitted that atrocity is AI. But seriously, AI art is theft.

If all survivors are bots its a draw. That means if you want to "win" in bhvr's system you have to heard those bot to hooks like a custom game.

Yea the fact that when the KILLER abandons it doesn't count as a win is stupid. Why force someone to play against all bots? The human players are gone… let the killer move on with a win and be done with it.

    DS

    Lithe

    Dead Hard

    Unbreakable

    Dejavu

    Items:

123 medkits in 53 games (2+ per game)

    92 FL

    63 boxes

Offerings i got 35 escape cakes, and 35 Hatch on shack IN 53 GAMES.

Considering how quickly survivors get AFK crows now if they are doing anything other than repairing a generator or in chase with the killer, yeah… best to know where 3 generators are at all times so you don't spend too much time looking.

Haven't played that game long enough to have that problem, but… yeah just another reason for me not to play it.

As someone who DOES have sensory overload issues(im more of a "I see mouths move but dont hear anyone speak because there is too much different types of background noise and I will go to the bathroom for a minute just to be able to reset somewhat and hear my friends again", or the "I am actively using a threadmill when working at home so I stop being distracted by the people who walk across the street as I become incapable of processing the information I need to process to do my work"), the bbq explanation was not even about overload, it was about expectations. If you are appalled by the smell of cooked meat or have issues with it to the point of (extreme) discomfort, then why did you even go to the bbq?

Horror games are designed with sudden imagery appearing, sudden loud noises, sudden change from gloomy to brightness. And DBD is one of those games, especially in the sound department(hence why I emphasised on that), where game balance is dictated by it enough that you cannot simply alter sounds manually.

And yeah, if you can normally handle the game and suddenly there is a patch that makes it impossible to handle, complain about it, get the killer killswitched for the duration (despite doc being my main, I wouldnt mind him being killswitched for a week or 2 while they address visual issues surrounding his shocks).

Okay, apologies so you have a type of sensory overload but not the same as me. As for complaining and getting Doctor killswitched, they aren't even killswitching him when people are reporting his seizure inducement has returned, you think they care about sensory overload? Second, the BBQ analogy is still terrible. A better analogy would be going to a BBQ and objecting to the presence of peanut sauce being used as a marinade when you have a nut allergy. Even then that's a stretch.

Put it this way… Because I can't watch movies like The Blair Witch due to the shaky camera method, does that mean I can't watch any horror movies? No. But if Blair Witch comes on, I will leave the room and/or change the channel. The draconian punishment of the Go Next system would be akin to you revoking my access to Nightmare on Elm Street, all the Chucky movies, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and making me repurchase them because I refused to watch Blair Witch.

Oh i never new that also that's a real word which means Average.

Huh? In what language? Funny enough, Google's AI says this:

Based on the provided search results, it seems there is no standard English word "Surjolt" with a widely accepted definition. However, some results indicate the term may be used in specific contexts:Possible Meanings/Uses:

    • Online gaming context: One result mentions "love to see Surjolt mains out in the wild" in the context of the game Dead by Daylight. This suggests "Surjolt" could be related to a specific character, item, or strategy within that game.
  • Actually survivors are already reporting being flagged by the system when the killer was tunneling. I was afraid this would happen, but I was told stuff like "You don't know that, let's wait and see." While I usually love being proven right, this was not a time I wanted to be proven right.

  • Never seen it myself, but I imagine it's a reference to Surge being renamed to Jolt for a while when the Stranger Things chapter was removed. Then when the chapter returned, the name was restored to Surge. So many still call it Jolt, hence Surjolt?

  • @TheGrimOne said:

Let's call it that, because we all know that's exactly what it is.

So I get target tunneled out of a match before I can do more than get myself oriented on the map and I get a warning for suspicious behavior?

Is BHVR trying to kill DBD?

This is what I was afraid of. But I was told "oh wait and see, we don't know how it will work"

I don’t mind new content - I’m just going to be sick of facing the same killer every match. Happens nearly every time a new killer is released for the first couple of weeks. The other option would be for me to just play killer, but everyone knows the killer queue times will be super long. It’s a lose-lose unless you really enjoy facing the same killer every match.

Yea, we can appreciate and understand the desire to play the new content, doesn't mean it doesn't get stale fast. At least they all go to a happy medium with others after a few weeks (except Wesker…)

This is the one license coming to DBD that I do not get the hype for at all. I know so little about FNAF, I though the bear was the main character (I guessing he's the Freddy in the title?).

But I think the new map looks cool and I like a Killer that puts side objectives and other things to interact with on the map, so I'm kinda looking forward to seeing what those are about. I didn't watch much footage of the PTB or the live stream because I don't care at all about FNAF, so it will be fairly fresh to me when it comes to the live servers.

Yes, Freddy Fazbear. The first game didn't have much of a plot besides the animatronics come to life at night and come after the security guard, so you have to watch the security cameras and lock the two doors to the security room when they are near (can only lock one at a time) and manage the really shady battery that runs the whole system. It was later games they fleshed out the story, the animatronics are possessed by the ghosts of children that were killed by the serial killer owner of the franchise. Springtrap is HIS suit.

If you want to get a "crash course" watch the movie. While it's not perfect, it will give you a pretty good idea of the story to understand why Springtrap is the killer and not Freddy. Also, the Matthew Lillard skin is from the movie, as Lillard plays Springtrap (William Afton) in the movie.

I honestly stopped playing The Ghoul and this will be my final post on this Killer. It has nothing to do with how the killer is its how the community just downs any post regardless of it being a good or bad take on the killer.

I can't even play the Killer because every game I get is a 4 man DC every single match which made me not want to play this killer literally at all. This is truly how I feel on this killer and the feeling is I'm just tired. If he gets to a point where people are starting to like him I'll talk about him again but for now this will be the Last post on The Ghoul.

I strongly want to say this is truly how I feel on how the community ruined this Killer for me.

Talk to the Skull Merchant mains, they know how you feel. Thing is, being a Licensed killer, he's unlikely to get DESTROYED like she was. So there is that, for what little its' worth.

They did pretty much minimize that as much as possible, Lery's main gen has more issues than that.

And while on one hand, sure, understandable. On the otherhand, its a horror game. Horror simply has a lot of sensory things. There are jumpscares, there are a lot of sounds. Having to make horror accessible by allowing tweaks in sound, when a massive part of the game balance relies on certain sounds being harder to hear due to other sounds (which kinda means people with sensory overload cannot be addressed there without also basically reworking the game balance from scratch). Its just not feasible.

It's like going to a bbq and being mad that you can smell meat on the grill and suggesting maybe to not grill any meat. You simply want an entirely different kind of bbq at that point.

Again, it definitely is a thing that prevents enjoyment, and I am not saying you shouldnt play the game because of it. However, there are certain aspects that, if customizable, would basically give a massive advantage. I still am not standing behind the decision for the FOV slider, because games against mobility killers have gotten significantly more difficult since then. Being able to tweak sounds means I might aswell quit the game, because any stealth killer I play is negated by people tweaking the killer footsteps to 1000% and any time I want to do a clever corner play as survivor it doesnt matter because the killer tweaked my breathing and footsteps to 1000% while having lowered the chase music to 10%.

I am against the grade drop, as its far too strict (start with a single pip instead, then keep doubling it), but not because of a lack of accessibility.

Besides, dc'ing doesnt have the same applied effect as going next, just DC against the killer, dont go next.

In one of the latest patches, Doctor's photo sensitivity issues have returned, worse than before. But hey, what do I know, I'm not photosensitive myself.

As for sensory overload, its not just jump scares and stuff like that or the smell of meat at a BBQ. The fact that you even make such a silly comparison to a BBQ shows that you do not have sensory overload issues and refuse to even try to understand them (and I hope you don't know anyone that does, if you do, I feel sorry for them having to be invalidated by you), so there is no point in even trying to explain it.

Both Minecraft and DayZ have "experimental" modes on Xbox. With effort it can be done.

That is different, as those are variant game modes essentially. Yes, it technically could be done, but would require additional assets to be downloaded to your console increasing the space it takes on your console HDD. Most consoles have smaller HDD drives still, not 24TB SSD drives like PC users can get today. A game like Minecraft it's not such a big deal as it's not a large graphic intensive game like DBD is.

Other than skillchecks getting maybe a visual cue, and maybe a generator with progression, I dont think there really are any notable issues left that wont break the balance entirely if implemented. Because if you visualize grunts of pain, someone who might not have been listening will know someone grunted nearby. If you visualize footsteps, same issue.

And the only thing that would warrant a "go next" in accessibility would be killers with sound

Doctor especially causes issues in so many ways. Photo sensitivity being the worst, but issues like sensory overload for others (myself included.) I understand if you do not experience these issues with The Doctor, lucky you. But please stop dismissing those of us who do as if we just "don''t like playing against him."

  • Yeah, they used to require event quests (or challenges as they were known) to only be done in the event queue, but due to overwhelmingly negative player feedback this was changed. But with the new quest system, they have reverted it.

Yes, just ignore the rest of my post and concentrate on The Clown.

  • @Mooks said:

it cant be generalized like that. Some people that are suffering from arachnophobia may not be affected by any depictions on a monitor at all, for some others its just the movements of a spider.

One way to make it happen would still be to make a neutral cosmetic that would be shown client wider to those that have the optional option turned on. We could get a cool Spider Killer and plenty of cosmetics and wouldnt even notice if someone Else has the option turned on - so not immersion breaking at all.

Somehow people still have something against this idea 🤷‍♂️

Yea, that's how it is for me. Some games I don't have any issues as their spiders, while they look like spiders, they don't have the right movement.. they are "fake". However, even a non-normal spider can freak me the F out if done properly. I used to play Everquest back in the day and their regular spiders in the starter zones didn't bother me. But, by the time the Ruins of Kunark expansion came around and they added the half-spider/half-dark elf creatures, those they nailed the movement…. I used to have to cross through the zone they were in to get to the area I wanted to level up in with friends and I would sneak through that zone in a heightened state of panic and anxiety because I could see them off in the distance and they were animated TOO WELL. Terrifying and not in a fun way.

if you aren't willing to play the game to have fun learn and get better why play dbd?

Did you even read what I said? You obviously didn't, or maybe you did and that means…

As soon as the new AFK system is in full swing I'm quitting and so are my friends.

AFK means away from keyboard. The fact that this new afk system is being done at all is just feeding the killers and this game is getting nothing but worse and worse. It's an absolute joke. There is no more strategy or skill involved at this point. The main goal is for survivors to be in plain sight at all times (thousands of aura perks, visual perks, auditory perks etc) so the killer can kill everyone.

Lockers, totem cleansing, ducking behind walls, running the killer the entire match, running unkooks the entire match.. i mean i can go on and on about all the strategy that is being removed. All because the game is flooded with underage kids that cannot learn skill nor strategy and grew up entitled. So entitled that its a constant nurf on survivors and buffs on killers and now a new afk system that has NOTHING TO DO WITH ACTUALLY BEING AFK. How asinine is that. It's now going to be a micromanaged game to support killers. I have complained for years how easy it is to play killer and zero skill involved but hey, as long as no one has to think and games only last 10 minutes at most its a win I guess.

Killer main here, and I agree with you completely. This new AFK system is terrible and will only make the game easier for me IN A BAD WAY. I do NOT want to win this way.

  • Plus accessibility issues. Do you hate going against The Ghoul because you think he's OP and unfair? Suck it up.

Are you unable to face The Doctor because his flashing lights and other effects cause you physical harm? This is a problem BHVR needs to address and in the mean time you should NOT be punished for needing to leave the game.

Are you unable to play against The Clown due to Coulrophobia? Fair, there should be something implemented to combat this, I am not sure what, but I'm not a developer.

Anyone who says anything like "If you aren't willing to play against a certain killer for any reason, you shouldn't be playing DBD at all." is an ableist.

You can, right now, DC once per day and get a 1 minute penalty each time. With screen transitioning alone, thats effectively a 30 second wait before you can join a match again. If you go down first, odds are you're gonna be tunnelled out, so you wont pip anyway, hence why people go next in the first place. Why stick around if you're not gonna get a pip and only 3k more BP unless you're already at max?

Its personally why I want survivor bloodpoints to both have a shared pool and a personal pool. 5k in each catagory shared among the team and 5k personal. That would at least be a reason for survivors to stay regardless if they get tunnelled or not. Even if you only get 5k chase points alone and 2k survival points, you might still get 5k shared objective and 5k shared survival points if your team progresses. Leaving you with 17k BP while you got tunnelled. Right now, being tunnelled means maybe 3.5k BP. The main reason behind people going next is because they are aware on how little there is left to gain.

I'm okay with the grade reduction (assuming it doesnt ever happen when tunnelled out), but having AND a dc penalty that doesnt go away untill you play X amount of games, AND a grade reduction, AND remove the option to suicide on hook entirely is just overkill.

Just the last one would prevent survivors going next so much that the rest doesnt matter, the only reason I could see the grade removal is to prevent killers from staying afk all game as a means to "go next".

As long as the game has accessibility issues I will never be okay with Grade Loss.

    I have no idea

They could’ve just changed some icons

But at the same time no harm done anyways

You can still call them by the names you prefer

    I’ll still call it deadlock

Even tho that won’t be its name it’s still deadlock to me

Well, from what they have said, if you own the chapter, the names will not change. We will see if that actually happens or not when 9.0.0 drops but if it does, that's going to cause a lot of confusion in the community.

  • My issue with it is that if players are searching for totems and don't have the possible locations memorized on every variation of every map nor did they bring perks or items to help they are going to end up getting marked afk from running around looking for totems for too long, specifically you only lose crows when a cleansing is finished. This means that a full Hex build could be devastating as all the players would be counted as AFK unless they get lucky or are one of those rare players with the totem locations memorized.

Tbf we come from the era of depipping, so we can take it. Not too bad since you can always just play more to get your grade back, which still nets you more BP along the way.

That depends entirely on what they consider "going next" I think. Will it be able to tell you are actively trying to get out of the match fast vs just bad luck in quickly running into the killer and being tunneled? Plus, before they got rid of deipping, you could lose all pips, but you couldn't lose a grade.

Plus, then there is the whole accessibility issue of it. Some players are, for whatever reason, unable to play against certain killers. It's not that they don't like them, its that they literally cannot play against that killer.

  • @Jay_K said:

I'm really hoping they release what clasifies as "go next". The worry i have is like i said in my original post you can't really tell the difference between a hardcore tunnel and someone running to the killer to go next. If quickly dying causes the go next prevention to kick in causing a disconnect penalty it means that is killers wanted to they could hard core tunnel not only to get the survivor out of the game but also to effectively soft ban them from the game for a while.

Even worse, you won't just get a DC penalty, you'll LOSE AN ENTIRE GRADE as punishment.

  • Yeah, I am hoping we get her as a Legendary or something actually. Not sure which Killer, but…

First, 5 at the end of a match is not the same as from XP.

Second, if it is bugged as others are reporting, then it seems that it IS true as most players easily complete all three dailies in one match, so never see that 5 Rift Fragments.

  • For Vecna it would never happen. Well, never say never, but… very very very very unlikely they will ever combine two different licensed properties like that. The only way it could possibly happen is if Bethesda and Hasbro/WotC negotiated a deal and then approached BHVR together.

    Fascinating, really.

When a survivor abandons the match after being downed, it’s considered a draw, and they’re free to move on without trouble.
But when a killer finally achieves a 4K and chooses to leave, that too is somehow treated as a draw—unless they take the time to clean up the leftover husks of disconnected survivors.
What a curious bit of logic.
If any developers happen to see this—or the many other posts like it—it would be great to hear the reasoning behind this design.

Not that the concept of “winning” or “losing” seems to carry much weight anymore.
It’s hard to believe there was any real thought put into this system in the first place.

At the heart of it, there’s really only one issue:
the experiential disparity between survivors and killers.

If survivors are allowed to unconditionally “go next” after being downed,
then killers, too, should be given the option to surrender immediately after the gates are powered.
Naturally, such a surrender would count as a loss.
    And that’s perfectly fine—

We do, after all, understand what a loss is.

Actually in another thread Mandy clarified that the game counts an ABANDON as a LOSS for whichever side uses it… which is an internal designation that does not affect MMR… which is confusing, but… it's not a draw actually. Only hatch is therefore considered a draw.

So probably not but eh why not tell the story. So was playing 2v8 with an Oni and I was playing Wesker the Oni was doing really good used their power well and didn't slug unless others were nearby the match was good with us getting an 8k at 1 gen. But then I get a message from a David saying that we were trash because we struggled to down him. We were chasing him and the guy was playing well and was able to 360 use so I mean yeah it's impressive but calling us trash even though he still ended up dead in the same chase because I left since two killer's focusing on one survivor isn't a good idea and doesn't apply pressure. Overall I'm so confused if that's consider trash that we got 360 by a David who still went down and ended up dead in the same chase.

Then again it's dbd probably going to be called trash for breaking a pallet the wrong way.

Unfortunately salty players are like that. I remember once I was called trash for downing a Jill in the exit gates while Ash was running around trying to get his reverse bear trap off. She had been looping me really well while the other survivors were working on the doors, then she told me how much I was trash and the only reason I was able to down her was because she was a team player. She then said I must be an only child because I don't understand what it means to be a team player. I said that a real team player would have gotten OUT of the match and given Ash a chance to get the hatch. Instead, she was hooked, his trap popped while she was still in first hook phase and what could have been a 0K was turned into a 2K.

you literally have the option to surrender if all survivors are bots.

SURRENDER being the key word. Meaning a LOSS of the game.

  • The bug that is currently with The Pig. If a survivor is actively working on a puzzle box and their trap timer runs out, they will be able to finish and get the trap off. The trap will only kill them if they either stop working on the puzzle box or that is not the box to open their trap.

While The Society of Swine did suggest this, we included it with a few buffs to go along with it. Having it alone without any buffs to compensate is painful.

Which is a terrible reason. All its doing is causing way more confusion. Ive had 2 friends who started playing again after a few months and it just completely threw them off. Not to mention how similar Purple, blue and green all look similar at a glance, so taking a peak at what perks/add ons you have is a lot less clear.

As for challenges being renamed "quests" so its "easier to understand" is also stupid. They didnt rename the Rift to Battlepass despite it being the exact same as other games. Quests could of either A; be renamed to something like Rituals so it at least fits more thematically. Or B; not be introduced at all and keep tomes and challenges the same.

Ive said it before and Ill say it again. If this update had rolled through with the haste and hindered stacking removal, it would of 1000% been the worst update in this games history

Oh, yes! I completely agree, not to mention that colorblind players are reporting that the new rarity colors are WORSE than the others were. Just was saying, that "new player familiarity" and being more like other games is their reason, as dumb as it is. Kind of like how for so long they didn't want to do P100 Rewards because they "don't want to introduce FOMO"

Because previous new players always struggled with the colour yellow as we all know.

Yea, and the use of the word "challenges" was so confusing! Like what even IS a challenge? is that like a quest? I always wondered, now I no longer need to wonder.

Rumors on the internet *for what that is worth* say things may have been postponed because they are actively trying to get the license back and do a new deal.

Yea, since the original license holders actually LOST the license in the US, they couldn't renew it, willing or not. So hopefully Clive Barker is open to a license renewal now that he has the rights again, but we shall see. BUT it would also require Park Avenue to agree to it also. So it's very unlikely for all three to work together.

  • The problem with adding voicelines to old characters is that it would cost money to do so, but they wouldn't make any money. New characters can have voicelines added alongside them, but old characters… especially Meg, Dwight, etc… There is just no money to be made in doing so, and that means spending the money to do so is not justified.

Genuinely no idea why this chage was made or why it has not been reverted, considering how universally despised it is.

It was done to make the game more friendly to new players, as the colors are more in tune with other games. Same with how challenges are now called quests.
