Literally nothing about that description changes if the update goes through. You still need to learn the killer's unique power and use it to hunt survivors lol

No, you need to learn the killer's unique power and use it to mildly inconvenience survivors, as long as you do so within the very strict rules BHVR puts forth about who you're allowed to hunt and when.

But, killer queues would only skyrocket during 2v8 if people who normally are queueing for survivor, were queueing for killer in 2v8 instead. If people queued for the same role, the queue times would remain the same since the same proportion of each side's players would be playing.

Meaning there is a massive contingency of "survivor players" who actually play + care about both sides, and your earlier point trying to discount the majority opinion because "the majority of players are survivor players" is wrong (since, as we established, a huge proportion of those players are willing to play either role)

Wow. The leaps of logic you just went through should be counted as an Olympic sport.

I'm sorry, but survivor mains queueing up for killer during 2v8 for funsies doesn't mean they know or even care about the killer role. It's a meme event mode for screwing around. Nobody takes 2v8 seriously, right? Cause that would be funny af.

  • @ratcoffee said:

You are aware that killer queues are currently 5 minutes for 1v4 and 15 minutes for 2v8, right?

That's it? It was like triple that during the last 2v8. Patch hasn't even come out yet, and killer numbers are already dropping lol.

And, as I've tried to explain to you using as small words as I can, it's 2v8. Killer queues always skyrocket during 2v8 because people want to play killer with a friend. It's literally the entire draw of the event.

I personally find it far more likely that you're massively biased against survivor players, what with your constant need to insultingly infantilize them and your interpretations of the game's balance that are well at odds with statistical evidence and majority opinion alike.

Oh, gosh. I wonder why the "majority opinion" would favor survivors? Hmmmmm… it's such a tough nut to crack. Gosh, I have no idea why in the game where survivors make up roughly 80% of the playerbase, the forums' majority opinion would generally favor survivors. Guess it'll remain a total mystery.

These are global changes affecting every single games they're more important than last stand or conviction… you're not reasonable right now, I'm even ok if they cancel anti tunnel I don't mind being tunneled that much but anti slug has to go live it's not negotiable :)

Nah, both have to go. The only thing I'm willing to negotiate on is keeping the Elusive status effect off of hook.

Not that it will particularly affect me that much. I have next to no desire to play DBD at the moment. Between the bugs and the cheaters infesting more matches than not, I'm kind of done. BHVR would have to do a lot of health updates for me to even consider coming back, as well as finally doing something about the hackers. After what happened to Spook n Jukes, I'm not willing to put my IP out there on some unprotected server where people threaten to assault and kill little girls over losing at a video game.

  • Tomorrow is a great day! It's Silksong Tomorrow day!

Not true they always nerf between PTB and live, we don't have the values we'll see tomorrow but I can tell you already anti tunnel will be nerfed, all content creators are going to post videos about anti tunnel killing the game it's a given

you will see it's only going to affect the most extreme cases of hard tunneling (just like anti camp)… anti slug should 100% go live tho

Suuuuure it will. I have utmost faith in BHVR lol. They showed that they're willing to roll back their changes time and time again. Like with Clown… wait, nevermind. Or Conviction… wait, nevermind. Or Last Sta… wait, nevermind. Or Made For Thi… nevermind.

The bigger the change, and the more man-hours put into making it, the less likely they are to significantly change it. Look at Mandy or Ryan B's responses here on the forums. "Numbers can be tweaked." Nothing about rolling back entire portions of the changes.

Anti-slug should absolutely not go live. Infinite Basekit Unbreakable is absolutely Broken (pun intended.)

  • @cogsturning said:

The killer will still have info. Some vartiaion of BBQ is becoming baskeit, so you get free aura read. If you hook someone else, you'll find the prone one. But even if you don't, that's either 90 or 30 seconds they're on the ground not doing gens or being useful.

Anti-tunnel and anti-slug perks don't prevent those things. They just prolong the situation. That's cool that DH lets you take another hit but the killer will probably still keep coming if their commited to the tunnel. Unbreakable is one time use and you can just get slugged again.

People also don't really want to base their loadout around some people's obnoxious playstyes. But if you're really worried about losing your slug, then you can also take your own advice and bring perks to help you find them again.

This argument that lower tier killers are doomed has zero basis. People don't tunnel and slug in every single match. There are lots of people in the forum saying they never use those tactics. You can also still do both of them, it's just not as free and easy as it was. Basekit Overzealous isn't going to automatucally save a team if someone is tunneled out with no gens done. It just gives them a tiny bit of hope they didn't have before.

There's no way that you're downplaying the massive effect an extra health state + speed boost can give you. There's a reason why DH is STILL one of the most used perks in the game after half a dozen nerfs.

I mean all we see is the picture of killer and survivors. dont see his name, if he was perkless, could've also lost on purpose as survivor and even tunnel as The nightmare even though he said he's against it. He could be lying for all we know. Like you said he'd need to post his games for us to watch.

That's a good point. I'm more inclined to believe he's lying than he's 2-4king every game as a perkless Freddy. But maybe he's just that cracked. Who knows.

I think it is difficult to implement Buffs for Killers which might be affected the most by those changes if we dont know how much impact those changes have, let alone how much is kept of those changes. I dont have much hope that much is kept given BHVRs track record when it comes to things like this.

And in general I feel that individual Killer Buffs always make more sense then general Buffs and if they see a drop in Killrate for some Killers, they can easier tackle those specifically when they know how much impact the changes have on them. Sure, they could gigabuff a few Killers right now, but we would not even know if the Buffs might be too much, not enough or whatever.

This is something for the time after players got to play with those changes for a few weeks and see how impactful they actually are.

A few weeks? I'm sorry, do you think they're going to rework/buff the killers that are DEFINITELY going to need it in a couple of weeks? Try a couple of years, if ever. After all, we're STILL waiting on the Skull Merchant rework. They nerfed her a year ago, and all we've had to show for it since then was a couple of Microsoft Paint sketches MONTHS ago.

But I'm sure BHVR will get right on those individual killer buffs lolol.

  • @cogsturning said:

What does one have to do with the other?

Because why would you spend money/waste shards on a new killer when the entire killer role is circling the drain as it is?

And no, OP, I won't be buying the new chapter.

  • Good choice. I've been on hiatus since TWD update brought the Fog Vials and about a million bugs. This patch only shows me that I made the right choice. The good news is… Silksong Overmorrow! At least Team Cherry actually cares about making a good game instead of nickle and diming its playerbase to death. The entire game costs about as much as a single skin from DBD.

The game isnt even advertised as a team game. It literally says in the sales description that you can play as a lone wolf. The fact that doing so is likely to more often than not ruin your chances of escape is the biggest disincentive to doing so.

    The game also advertises:

    A Feast for Killers

     - Dead by Daylight draws from all corners of the horror world. As a Killer you can play as anything from a powerful Slasher to terrifying paranormal entities. Familiarize yourself with your Killing Grounds and master each Killer’s unique power to be able to hunt, catch and sacrifice your victims.

But last I checked, especially after this upcoming patch, killers are neither powerful nor terrifying. Instead, it should read:

    A Feast of "Killers"

     - Dead by Daylight draws from all corners of the horror world. As a "Killer" you can play become a mild annoyance or minor speedbump on your way to becoming a prop in survivors' power trips. Familiarize yourself with your "Killing" Grounds and master each "Killer’s" kind of unique power (we re-use ideas A LOT) to be able to watch survivors mock you from complete safety more often than not.

So don't believe everything you read lol.

If you're taking that long to catch someone, it's time to drop the chase and push the others off the gens.

You have to commit at some point. Dropping chase too often will lose you just as many games as engaging in bad chases.

  • @Nazzzak said:

Oh, after 4.5 years playing solo I've seen everything randoms can throw at me. I think this is probably the reason the devs also threw basekit Tenacity in there - realistically, a slugged survivor should be able to reach someone for help. And if they cant, then the 90s self pick-up is the backup.

Yes, because god forbid survivors have to work as a team.

  • You do realize that two things can be true at the same time, right?

Bad survivors, the ones you see in roughly half your matches, play like garbage.

Good survivors actually play to win and use all of the many, many handholding tools that the devs have given them over the past few years.

  • @cogsturning said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3993700#Comment_3993700

I've never had a survivor match where we all did terrible but somehow escaped. That's just not real. Yet I've had killer matches against way, way better survivors where I've gotten 4ks.

Play perfect? Killers can miss all their hits and get no hooks until gens are done and still win. Survivors can't just miss every skill check, compete no gens, lose every chase and somehow win.

Lol. You're joking, right? The only way you win that scenario is A) If the survivors f around or B) you build specifically for that purpose.

  • This patch will be changed before release, but I think its important to consider that even more will change after it reaches live servers

First of all, you don't know that. BHVR rarely does more than slight numbers tweaks between PTB and Live, since that's all they really have time for. Secondly, there is VERY little in this patch that should reach live servers. Killers shouldn't get free basekit BBQ + Pop + Haste when hooking a survivor, and survivors shouldn't get coddled and rewarded for bad gameplay.

Does something need to be done about tunneling? Perhaps. But this is not the way. The problem with this is that you're forcing killers to ignore survivor mistakes. When Dwight messes up for the umpteenth time in a row and leaves himself wide and clear in a deadzone… if he's the last hooked survivor, you just have to ignore him. If it's before six hooks, you just have to ignore him.

It's like playing games with your little brother and being forced to go easy on them because if you don't, you'll get grounded.

  • @ratcoffee said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3993701#Comment_3993701

Pop was widely considered one of the most powerful regression perks pre 6.1, back when it was a flat 25% of 80 charges. If it's a flat 20% of 90 charges that would be extremely solid.

I still think it should be a mini-pain res instead of a pop, so non-mobility killers can also benefit, but it's wild to me to say something that's 2 charges less than one of the strongest versions of one of the strongest regression perks in the history of the game is "worthless"

Gens were slower then. Survivors were much less efficient before the HUD changes.

  • @BbQz said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3993701#Comment_3993701

Idk bbq + haste should really help some killers chain hooks together keeping benefits. I could see the haste lasting longer especially if there is a time limit on the kick regression.

20% of a gen is 18 seconds of repair from one survivor. 15% extra gen speed is 12 seconds off of each gen.

It is absolutely better to get a survivor out of the match and eat the gen repair speed than it is to leave an extra survivor free to do gens for multiple minutes. New meta is Blight or Nurse with a full aggression build and deerstalker. Tunnel someone out, then slug the rest. Use Deerstalker to find them on the ground when they use their free Tenacity to crawl away.

Or maybe it's ping pong tunneling between the two weakest survivors, using the free BBQ to bounce back and forth.

  • @BbQz said:

    12% haste 30 seconds

    20% kick regression

15% repair speed for tunnel penalty

So…. worthless. Much better to just tunnel someone out and deal with the repair speed.

Yeah...that's the point. You can no longer easily flip your earned L into a dirty W.

But easily is the key word. 90s is plenty of time to slug and hook. You might lose one, but thanks to altruism, you also might not.

Except we don't apply that same logic to survivors. Not only do they have half a dozen perks that can let them come back from a team wipe, but now they get it infinitely. Basekit. So if the survivors mess up and let me slug the whole team at 4 gens because they played dumb and too altruistic, they don't get punished for it and get a free second chance.

And that hypocrisy is prevalent all over the game, where killers are expected to play perfectly, with a single mistake being the difference between a win and a loss. However, when survivors ######### the bed, we kiss their boo boos and let them off with a warning.

Do you know how poorly survivors have to play in order to get team wiped? It involves them making probably more than a dozen major mistakes. But God forbid if the killer take a bad chase one time in a match.

If a killer isn't having a good time, I would 100% support an "Abandon" feature that just lets them go next for free. If it was 2v8, I think it would have to be a unanimous vote, but I have no problem letting people out of matches they don't like.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3993260#Comment_3993260

There was an entire thread where people were saying "Actually, 60% is 50% because 2K is a loss." and it was as dumb as it sounds. If we agree that 2K is fine, then we have PLENTY of breathing room before we have to worry about killers not being able to get there, at the current win rates. The doom and gloom is ridiculous.

    That sounds absolutely moronic. A 2k is a draw. 0-1k is a loss. 3-4k is a win.

  • @cogsturning said:

They do have an abandon feature for killers. I've seen it pop up in my longer games when people are hiding.

Game isn't over with no downs at 3 gens done though. Many killers have gotten no hooks in my survivor matches but then slugged everyone at end game.

But yeah, I'm all for easier DCing for everyone. If you wanna go, fly free. If still counts as a loss anyway.

You're not allowed to slug everyone anymore, remember? Snowballing isn't a thing anymore after this patch.

Years?? And this is your overall? I've played as many matches this month as you've ever played survivor.

God please tell me how many killer matches you have I am DYING to see this disparity.

I'm sorry, is this some kind of flex? If you've played more than 600 matches this month, you seriously need to get out more. That's like… a 120 hours put in, assuming ten minute matches and only two minutes between matches. That's like four hours a day, every day. Almost 30 hours a week. That's not a hobby, that's a part time job. I don't think I've played 30 hours of video games this MONTH. It's not healthy to get that much screen time, bud. Get out of the house, spend some time with your friends. Maybe chase a girl (or boy, we don't discriminate) or two.

I can wait 6 days for 2v8 to finish, show you the long queue times still there, and prove you wrong. In the meantime, I'll go ahead and take your word (without proof) that the queue times are lower this time than last. I'm willing to do that because it doesn't support your argument at all. Yes, the queue times fluctuate, but by your own admission they have been terrible for months now.

How generous of you. I'll be waiting with baited breath for your follow up.

Yes, the queue times have been all over the place in recent months. I'm sure releasing a killer only chapter of possibly the most requested franchise ever has nothing to do with that, and that it's purely because survivors are oppressed victims.

By the way, I won't be here in six days. Silksong releases in two days and change, and I'll be far too busy playing a game where the devs actually know what they're doing and give a crap. Between the hackers outright cheating and doxxing people, the balance issues, and the toxic community, there's really no reason to stick around in DBD. I'm literally just debating this obviously horrible patch to pass the time until 9 a.m. on Thursday lol. Though I might load up the PTB to see just how much of a train wreck it really is, just for old time's sake. I put like 2k hours in this game. It's the end of an era.

Can you please link or show where that is? Reason being because the dev update begs to differ. The Dev Update says, and I quote, "If the Survivor that was last hooked is Sacrificed OR KILLED, generators cannot be regressed or blocked." Killed and Sacrificed are 2 different things. Sacrificed is strictly for hooking, killed is every other way a survivor dies, including but not limited to Onryo's Condemned and Pig's RBTs. (I straight up copy and pasted that line from the dev update)

He's straight up wrong. He's thinking of this post:

    Screenshot 2025-09-01 155840.png

It obviously doesn't say what he says it does. It was just Ryan clarifying using general terminology. Otherwise, you could get around the tunneling stuff by bringing a Mori lol.

You can't just tell people to lose in a match they performed poorly in. That's outrageous.

So you'd be okay with a killer "go next" feature where they could just surrender if they have a bad chase? Or should we make them play it out even though everyone knows the game is over?

  • @brewingtea said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3993181#Comment_3993181

Survivor needs more comeback mechanics, at the moment, than killer. Giving more to the former while taking them away from the latter is not weird… it's what you do when you have an imbalance like that. I never suggested eliminating them all.

You can disagree with my position, but that doesn't make it hypocritical or ironic.

Also, a "loss" is a 2K. Isn't that what killers always say (to justify the 60% kill rate)? If your go-to example of the new mechanics "screwing over" a killer is "I lost 3 gens on the first chase but still managed to 2K." then you can see why some people would think that was whiny, right?

edit: Instead of "Lose?" in my previous post, just pretend I said, "Settle for a 2K?".

I have literally never heard a killer call a 2k a loss, except when it comes to win streaks.

You sir seem to be stuck in a mindset of "meta this, and meta that".
No, I do not see meta builds all the time. Often times there are variations.
And no, you don't have to play meta to do well in a game. This is what some people have a hard time understanding. I can often last a long time in chase, despite not running any exhaustion, vigil, DS, OTR etc. So that argument of yours is pretty hollow.

It's all about "getting serious, while having fun". I often run pretty meme-worthy perks, because they are fun to use, but they often have really good effects hiding behind the meme facade, that seems to be overlooked, thanks to the over-usage of meta perks.

Which is fine. I'm not saying that you HAVE to run meta perks. But don't run meme builds then complain that you didn't have the same outcome as a meta build. Or complain when the other side DOES bring meta perks and you end up losing.

Sure, you may last a long time in chase with your current builds, but wouldn't you last longer if the killer had to walk you down for 30 seconds first because you popped Sprint Burst? That's my point.

I like fighting games. My favorite was Injustice 2, and I mained Robin. Robin was very bad against projectile zoning… and guess what was the best, most used strategy in the game by far? However, I couldn't complain because I CHOSE Robin. I could have used Batman, Starfire or Doctor Fate, but I chose to use a mid-tier character. I knew his limitations, yet picked him anyways.

Since when was the game survivor sided?
Last I checked, the average was 40% escape rate, and 45% in a best case scenario, while killers enjoy a kill rate of well over 50% on average. If that isn't killer sided, then I don't know what you are on about.
Also, survivors lost most of their "easy cheese" in 6.1.0, while killers still could face camp, hook grab, slug and tunnel to their hearts content.
Like I said, just chill out and let the patch play out on the PTB before you jump to any conclusions here.

    Reading comprehension at its finest.

Kill rates are where they are because most survivors are garbage at the game and aren't really trying to win. They come in with meme builds and dance around. Instead of doing gens, they're running after the killer trying to get material for a highlight reel or something. They don't predrop and shift w, like you should against 90% of the killer cast. They get greedy on gens instead of pre-running and shift w'ing into the next zip code with SB and Vigil. Instead, they want to be the next Henz getting a 5 gen chase by greeding the same pallet four times before getting the stun. And even when they do, half the time they start bagging and clicking their flashlight so they can try to CJ tech you or something. Or they'll bring a full healing build so they can watch the healing bar fill up in 6 seconds instead of 16, something that's genuinely only useful in the vast minority of heals.

You don't see killers doing that, do you? I bet almost every match you play, the killer is using the same meta perks over and over. They use the optimal strategies and are consistently trying to win every match that they play.

However, when all four survivors bring meta perks and play safely in chase and actually try to win, they usually do. The gens finish in about 4 or 5 minutes, and you get 3 or 4 survivors out. Even when the big bad killer tries to tunnel them. Because they brought meta perks like DS and OTR.

But in all honesty, if it does go through, I am not lying when I say that I am glad that the killer "power trip" that has been going on since 6.1.0 is finally about to balance out.

I do agree that survivors used to be incredibly overpowered in the past, but you killer mains has had a very easy time since then, with overpowered things on your side too.
I'm not saying this to argue, but to state the facts.

As for the survivor HUD, it was made that way for the benefit of those poor souls who play mostly solo queue, which is the closest experience you can come to being in hell when it comes to this game.
At least with the status symbols, soloQ players has the opportunity to see what their teammates are up to. Those were good QoL features that were brought into the game.

Also, not wanting to sound like a broken record:

I mean… they're not wrong. At this point, BHVR is like your aunt forcing you to play games with your little cousin, then standing over your shoulder telling you, "Why are you killing him so quickly? You should go easy on him. He's just trying to explore the map and have fun. Why are you so mean?"

Because who enjoys being unable to play and interact with the game for more than a minute before the killer decided to tunnel them out? I don't know a single person who likes getting tunneled out immediately.
Also due to how grindy the game is, would you have liked getting robbed of your hard-earned Bloody Party Streamer, if you got tunneled out at 5 gens remaining, barely earning any points at all, and feeling like you totally wasted a good offering on nothing.
    Would you enjoy that?

And no, it is not about mistakes or authority figures. It's about offering a better experience for all players. You don't have to play in a rotten way, just because you can.

I can go on for a while, but I am not going to preach for deaf ears here, like @Aven_Fallen tried

    Lol.

"I'm going to play an elimination game, as the role that gets eliminated, then cry when I'm the first person eliminated."

You know, there is a role that lets you experience the game from start to finish every time. Your offerings are never "wasted." You get to see every match to its conclusion.

Also, the game is survivor sided. I don't know what "power trip" you're talking about, but the game has literally never been killer sided. If both sides bring the best stuff and play optimally, survivors will win most of the time. The ONLY killers that have a slight edge in this situation are Blight and Nurse. Most of the killers in the game get absolutely wrecked by efficient survivors actually trying to win that don't go down in 15 seconds. Kill rates are where they are because a lot of survivors play poorly. Most of the changes that have been made recently just mitigate survivor mistakes, including this one.

So you can't back up your claim of the role being easy with easily-acquired official stats that prove you've played a lot of survivor, and also won matches?

Lol. Aren't the stats bugged? Did they ever get around to fixing those?

that is true, but i doubt they will… they "only" need 1/4th

I disagree. I think that BHVR are largely going to push these updates through despite the almost universal backlash, and survivor queues are going to hit 10 minutes by Halloween. Especially since the killer looks kinda garbage.

imo it is more like beating the living snot out of someone with a baseball bat, and then when understandably cry out in pain you say "oh you gonna cry like a little baby? why don't you grow up you pathetic little kid." that's the level of power imbalance you're defending i think

Lol. Funnily enough, the only thing close to that in this game is when survivors all gang up with head on/ flashlights/ flashbangs.

Eh it sounds like it's to incentivize not tunneling, probably won't make up for it.

    Then it's absolutely useless.

  • No idea. Not that high because I don't really even try to. I'm usually off trying to get the killer to chase me because gens are so freaking boring. Yeah, I'm throwing the match for everyone, but I don't really care. I'm not going to sit there for a minute and a half holding one button.

If I say, "Killer is extremely easy, anyone could play Killer blindfolded, being able to do well as Killer is like winning against the easiest AI in OW, plus its so boring and unchallenged that I fall asleep while winning" you would not be incorrect in reading the implication.

Killer is easy and if you struggle, you're bad. Its the same thing you implied, which is untrue for both, by the way. Both roles are fairly deep and challenging.

Oh, it's a good thing I didn't say any of those things, either, right?

If they come in full, it might show quite significant and important stats. And honestly makes it easier to buff Killers if they fall off, since tunneling can hide A LOT. You can get so different results if you dont tunnel and if you tunnel.

Lol. They've left Trapper in the dumpster for almost a decade. Skull Merchant was nerfed over a year ago, and all we've had to show for it is a couple MS Paint sketches. The idea that BHVR is going to suddenly start buffing weak killers to where they'd need to be to compete against efficient survivors without tunneling is absolutely hilarious.

More than that, I mean. Cause yeah, if you're new or clueless, that's more of an invitation than a warning. They need like a DO NOT TOUCH THIS PERSON indicator.

Though the elusive status should help.

On the contrary, I think the Elusive status effect is only going to hurt. Proxy camp the hook, then follow the unhooked survivor until they start groaning and leaving blood pools/scratch marks. You don't even have to count to ten anymore lol.

  • The problem is, you can't collect that 400k if the people shelling out the 100k all leave.

If you lose 2-3 gens in the first chase, what are you supposed to do?

Lose? Because you didn't drop chase in time? Or you didn't down that person fast enough?

Killers talk about second chances for survivors, but look how they cry when you take away THEIRS

The irony here is absolutely mind boggling. You're sitting here mocking killers complaining that they're losing their comeback mechanics while gloating that your side is getting like 3 new ones in a single patch.

And you can't take away all the comeback mechanics. Otherwise, one bad chase, and you should just bugger off to a corner and afk.

Probably, one bonus is totally out of control of the side getting it so naturally it'll be more impactful than something that is 100% in control of the killer.

But the bonus is supposed to make up for the lost slowdown that you can't get from slugging or tunneling anymore, right? Or am I missing something?

I mean… the dev notes literally say:

DEV NOTE: It’s no secret that tunneling can be seen as an efficient way to play for Killers. While this can be true, it’s also true that the results of this can be frustrating for Survivors, leading to Trials ending too quickly for some, while leaving others to fend for themselves in a match that is now much more difficult.

The intention here is for both roles to feel the benefits and incentives that come from spreading hook states. On the one end, Survivors have better opportunities to evade and reset after unhooks, while also limiting those tough situations where losing a Survivor too quickly causes things to go south quickly and snowball. On the other end, Killers are able to apply more map pressure to push back against efficient teams, covering ground post-hook and strengthening gen regression.

I mean… 10% kick bonus isn't going to do diddly squat when it comes to "pushing back efficient teams." It would need to be at least 30% to even START making up the difference between a 4v1 and a 3v1 against survivors that aren't complete potatoes.
