That applies to ragequits and the like too, imo. The players want to love the game and they still hold out hope, but they end up disappointed far too often.
I don't have any sympathy for someone who is like "eww, it's the ghoul" DISCONNECT
Now, if you have accessibility issues with a killer, like say if Doctor's effects cause seizures or you have emetophobia and can't play against the Plague with her vomit, that's understandable. -

I don't have a source for this but I vaguely remember reading somewhere that MMR isn't enabled for event lobbies. I could be misremembering something though.
It is for holiday events, just not things like Lights Out, Chaos Shuffle, 2v8, etc.

Blame BHVR for that stupid "Get 15 hooks in the Void" quest. If you want to complete the event, you have to do ALL the quests and normal gameplay you just won't get 15 void hooks in a reasonable time frame, so… camping the Void it is.

Someone has told me, that we won't be getting auric cells back anymore from the rift in the future - is that true?
Yes. I read it on the internet, so it must be true.
But seriously, no. I don't know who told you that but they are wrong. -

I know DBD is not in its best state at the moment, like with the rift having less content and other stuff but is it wrong for me to say I’m still genuinely enjoying the game?? Its super frustrating at times but I still have fun.
OH yes, and the thing is, I think even if they don't say it, people do love the game. That's why they complain so much. They want the game to be better. If they truly hated the game, they would just uninstall it and be done.
That said, posts like yours are VERY IMPORTANT to remind us of this. -

I have not checked in-game myself as of yet, so I'm not completely sure whether it's time-limited, or if there have been any additions.
No additions, and it is not time-limited AT THIS TIME. However, we don't know the details on its return. Like every collaboration, it will come up for renewal and that is when the licenseholders will decide if they want to renew or not.

So the Alien made it, why not its predecessor Predator aka Yautja? I know licensing has a lot to do with it but I am surprised since its been one of those in demand chapters, I hope it comes to the game especially with Badlands coming out.
Predecessor? I'm sorry, what?
Alien was released in 1979.
Predator was released in 1987.
By what manner of new math is Predator the predecessor of Alien? -
Huzzah!
According to today's patch notes at least, this has been fixed! Anonymous mode no longer should disable licensed music! -

Whilst I like the idea of giving people rewards (I'm a big softy and want people to have all the things!), I think part of the problem would then be the quality of the replies to the surveys, I can imagine people would just randomly click any box to fill in the answer without really paying attention or caring about what they are choosing.
Hate to say it, but yeah. You're totally right, too many would do that.

Thank you so much. I had no idea something like this was even possible, though I now see why it would help many people. Heck, if not for the bugs you mention here, I might even consider trying it myself instead of KB/Mouse as sometimes I can't play very long as my keyboard hand starts to cramp up… But definitely don't want to deal with these bugs.

Do you know of any ladder discords? (And preferably one that doesn't make you verify your phone number because discord's verification system is trash.) Because I would love to have sessions where I can just focus on looping.

The problem isn't looping and all that it's just tunneling suddenly starts because a single gen went off. Even if it took five minutes for the first gen to be complete suddenly it means the killer needs to start tunneling. I could rescue the person being tunneled and make myself go down and the killer will just slug to tunnel the person out.
Yes, because that's most efficient. Like I said, I regularly get tunneled, but that's because I can't loop like some of my friends. My friends who can loop a killer for 5 generators? Guess why they don't get tunneled? If they do what you say here, then my friends will take the killer away and they will get the slugged survivor back up and everyone healed and the killer still hasn't caught the person they are trying to tunnel.. or they do... but either way the rest of us are healed up and ready to go back to generators.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcicq2osNGQ
Also, for a laugh… -
I say this with all due respect as someone who is terrible at looping and tends to both go down quickly and get hooked 3 times many times before everyone has has even 1 hook… Learn to loop and not go down, and the killer won't tunnel you.
In other words, if you are bad at the game, why wouldn't the killer take advantage of that? They shouldn't be punished for you (or me, I fully admit I am bad at survivor) being bad at the game. -

I have seen non-stop complaint about the Krasue ever since she went live and I'm honestly tired of it. Everyone is saying "she doesn't have counterplay." She actually does, but it is far too early to find something concrete. We're adults, not entitled toddlers who need instant gratification without the effort. She isn't S-Tier, nor does she rival Nurse. No one has ever threatened Nurse in 9 years. She is mid to low A at best, high to mid B at worst.
If you're struggling against her, learn to loop better. Her head form is difficult to control and vaults much slower than survivors. Keep yourself un-Leeched, and you're golden. My SWF and I go against P100s and run circles around them, Krasue is no different. Play the game and get better before posting to the forums

If I waited a whole month before I could get a pizza, doesn't mean I would accept a pizza with anchovies on it.
This patch was TERRIBLE For killers and trust me, if they had pushed this patch through even with tweaked numbers, every game you played would be vs. those killers listed in the patch notes for getting less benefit from the new system and even then, your queue times would skyrocket as survivor.
Punishing killers for taking advantage of survivor mistakes is NOT the way to prevent tunneling and if they ever do that, MANY killer mains will quit. I know many survivor mains think that would be great cause only the 'nice' killers will remain, but it will only be the S-tier killers. -

When facing a hacker you should not be penalized for not wanting to play through the match, especially when hackers can hold games hostage for up to an hour.

absolutely not… the cheating problem is what needs to go.
These are not exclusive things. We can have both go.
-
While nobody likes being tunneled, many survivors have a very lax idea of what tunneling is. Tunneling to me (as a player of both sides) is when the killer purposely goes after the same survivor right off the hook. However it is not simply hooking the same person back to back and it for sure is not failing to get 6 total hooks before someone is sacrificed or killed. If I hop on a generator right after I am unhooked and the killer finds me before they manage to hook someone else, that's not tunneling, it's taking advantage of a situation that I put myself in.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcicq2osNGQ
This is the problem the patch on the PTB had. It would punish the killer in BOTH scenarios. In my opinion, the first part of the anti-tunnel with the new "Elusive" mechanic was great (though not too keen on the loss of Killer Instinct as that interferes heavily with Legion's power even if they don't want to tunnel) but all anti-tunnel measures should cease with a Conspicuous Action as you are no longer being tunneled at that point (again, I say this as a player of both sides.) -

The BMing at the gates is an unrelated issue
I'm also going to add that most, if not all complaints about exit gates follow one of two trends: either
A) whataboutism complaining (like this one), where, in this case "tunneling can't be addressed unless they also fix exit gates". Generally with no proposals for how to do that, and ignoring that the two issues are unrelated in any way.
B) people proposing "solutions" that have zero accounting for context, situation, and are essentially just "punish survivors". I know the term "free kill" is overused in many contexts, but I have genuinely seen conversations where people are demanding that "crouching in the exit gates should block the gates for 30 seconds" or even "survivors have so many seconds to leave before the gates block". Completely disregarding begin cases like "waiting at the exit gate to make sure everyone else is safe".
Slightly unrelated, but B reminds me of a hilarious situation with an Ash and a Jill. I was The Pig.
So, the Ash had an active Reverse Bear Trap and the other two survivors were dead and the Jill was a looping god the entire match. But, I finally caught her hanging out in the exit gates, downed her, hooked her for the first time. Shortly after she entered second stage (she did NOT try to 4%) Ash's head trap popped and they both died.
I asked her why she didn't just leave and she went into a tirade about being a team player and I must be an only child because I didn't know what being a team player meant.
Thing is, it was the opposite. By sticking around she actually took away Ash's chance to get hatch. If she'd just left, he could have gotten hatch. Sure, it wouldn't have been a guarantee, but it would have been a better chance than he had to get his trap off in time. -
Funny thing is, I actually get more escapes in 2v8 than I do in 1v4 (as both sides… I escape more often when playing survivor, and I get more survivors escaping when I am the killer.)

So I just had a match that ended before it started. First person got hooked and had luck that failed to get them off, the second person disconnected, and the third was hidden in the basement. This was at 5 gens, btw. Solo queue, huh? Anyway...
I tried to 4% using the luck offering and unfortunately I failed. The killer clearly had enough of this shocking match and he'd also gone AFK at the point.
I left the match and was met with 'Your grade has been reduced to X because blah blah'. I mean, I'm not so fussed about losing a grade, but does Behaviour want me to actually finish out that match? 1 dead on hook, 1 DC, 1 in basement hiding and AFK killer.. Come on Devs. That sh*t is pathetic!
This is why the loss of a grade is the thing I hate most. There have been multiple reports of new players getting punished by this system because they were killed too fast by the killer.

To be fair, I haven’t seen a blatant cheater for a very long time. I play in US eastern time zone, typically 8-11ish in the evenings. Maybe there just aren’t many cheaters in my region or they tend to play other times? 🤷♂️
Well, MOST cheaters are not blatant cheaters. Most don't want to be noticed. The first time I ever encountered a cheater (that I know of) was actually when I was playing survivor and I stayed around to spectate. The Meg it turned out was a cheater, but the killer never would have known if I had not told them. You see, she was slugged at end game, the gates were open and he was off hooking someone else. Two things showed me she was a cheater.
1. First, she left her generator repair script on, so she was getting constant great skill check notifications…
2. She crawled super fast out the exit gate while the killer wasn't looking. Like definite speed hacks.
I definitely made sure to tell the killer she was cheating and to report her, and that I would be also. Speed and generator repair hacks.
But like I said, there was no way whatsoever for the killer or even me to have noticed if I had not been spectating her. -

With the recent QoL patch being rolled back, I'm curious what DBD is.
I dont see it being like League of Legends competitive ranked queue. Although since it has a ranking and MMR that means it's not a party game?
So what is DBD. Is the point to see how good you can get or how theoretically high you can go? Theres no ladder aside from ranks that you basically cant demote from and get to red rank by just playing enough.
At what point do players weigh having fun versus wanting to win with a competitive mindset.
Basically with the supposed changes it seems like theres an issue between a player getting to enjoy and play the game versus a player wanting to win regardless of how its done. What is BHVRs goal for this game, is it about getting a win or is it about having an enjoyable game for both sides.
I always thought DBD was a chill party game to enjoy with friends but it feels like I'm wrong.
It's not supposed to be competitive, however any pvp game needs to have some kind of ranking system just to keep it from being total chaos. Imagine if a brand new group of players, 4 soon to be survivor mains were thrown in a lobby vs. Otzdarva. They would get utterly destroyed and what would be their thoughts on the game? Not good. At least one of them would probably quit the game. However, if they are instead paired with a killer closer to their own skill level (maybe not brand new like them, but still one that isn't freaking Otzdarva) then while they might still lose, they won't be utterly destroyed.

The irony is one of the killers that slipped through the cracks on this was Myers, the killer they reworked on this PTB. The new system tracks the last survivor hooked. If you use Myer's new Tier 3 kill effect on someone, the game doesnt move the marker to reflect THAT survivor.
Yea, you didn't hook them. You dirty tunneler. Take your punishment and LIKE IT.

While true that tunneling has been (and likely will continue to be) the #1 pain point for survivors, it wasn't always as prevalent as it is today. I remember back in around 2019/2020, when I was hovering around the red ranks for most of the time, I rarely saw tunneling. Maybe a few instances in maybe 1/15 games or so, but not as much as it is today, where you see it in at least 50% of the games you play.
It got worse after 6.7.2 when healing got nerfed, since killers could now abuse the fact that healing was MUCH slower, and it was also a side-product of the gen-kick limit being put into place, thanks to some very unfun strategies, involving a certain Chess Merchant.
Also, the finisher mori certainly didn't help the cause either, since now, the killers often tunnel out two people as fast as possible, goes for the third one, to get them hooked, after slugging the fourth survivor, while humping them as they wait for the sacrifice. - I have seen this too much lately in my games, especially by killers like Ghoul and Blight, but also instadown killers like Bubba is very prone to use this tactic. And this trend has increased a lot lately, since the PTB details became known.Any killer that still BMs like that should be reported, as there is no longer any need to wait (not that BMing like that was okay before, it's gross and it isn't necessary) If all survivors are on the hook and the last is on the ground, the Finisher Mori is enabled. Its been that way for a patch or two now.

One possibility is that currently there is a bug I have seen personally where if you are actively working on a box, the trap will not kill you, only if you fail to find your key or let go of the box. It's possible that is what happened to the Meg.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3997856#Comment_3997856
Absolutely. I'm firmly in the camp that extreme tunneling and slugging need to go. They make Survivor (which can already be very unpleasant in solo queue) an even worse experience, but these changes were SO overboard that they just made Killer overall horrible. Simply shifting problems from one side to the other helps no one — at that point it's about vengence and not game balance.
Thank you, you said this so well. I am the same way, they need to do something about extreme slugging and tunneling, but IMO (as someone who plays both sides) if you are (or I am) working on a generator, I am no longer tunneling you (or I am no longer being tunneled.)

@3AMandLost said:
For me personally, tunneling only and just only is that the killer chasing the same player over and over again
people have all this additional definitions of what tunneling is as well as layers
soft tunneling
hard tunneling
toxic tunneling
comp tunneling
2 player tunneling
and this is why the case of people claiming "tunneling is a issue" is so common
here are some scenarios I have seen people claims counts as tunneling:
Player A gets hooked > while player A is hooked Player B is getting chased > Player B is chased downed and hooked > Player A gets unhooked while player B gets hooked > killer return to play A hook where he still is probably getting healed > killer start chasing player A again. For me, this is not tunneling. "Player A was just unhooked" yes but the killer was putting pressure on another player. the killer did NOT have tunnel vision on player A only. If the survvors got the unhook faster or just ran away as soon as they got the unhook to heal in a safer area Player A would been fine.
Scenario 2: Player A gets hooked > player B gets hooked > player A gets hooked > player B gets hooked > player A gets death hooked > player B gets death hooked. this for me is not tunneling either, u are putting pressure on 2 players, yes u are ignoring the other half but again, its 50% not 75%. so half of the team is still being pressured.
Scenario 3: Player A gets hooked > player B gets hooked > player C gets hooked > player A gets hooked > player A gets death hooked. I actually dont believe this is tunneling either. The killer fresh hooked 3 players, yes player A got hooked twice in a row, but again the definition of tunneling is to focus on one player and one player only. And this was not the case. This is also one of the scenarios that would trigger BHVR gen block penalty + 25% gen progress as this is "only" 5 hooks.
tunneling for me is simple. player A gets hooked > player A gets hooked > player A gets hooked without the killer attempting to pressure, chase or commit for someone else. 3 hooks, 1 player, nothing more, nothing less.
If BHVR is gonna make a anti tunnel mechanic, then they themself most give us the actual definition of what tunneling means, a simple sentence, with not a bunch of "factors" or "extra layers" to it. tunneling should mean one thing, and one thing only
Scenario 4: Player A is hooked, Player B unhooks them and then Player A proceeds to immediate do a conspicuous action in the killer's line of sight. What's the killer supposed to do? Laugh "Oh, silly survivor!" and just ignore them?
-
Yeah definitely not one of us.

Thank you lol I thought i was taking crazy pills reading the OP because my recollection of the original Finisher Mori reaction was different. Killer mains wanted the anti-slug component gone but thought the Finisher Mori itself was fine. I remember having a number of discussions on this forum trying to point out that they had to go hand in hand to incentivise hooking and not just slugging. Tru3 even had that video showing the opposite of what OP claims - that survivors could pick themselves up quicker than he could get the mori off.
Tru3 couldn't do it? OH, well then. I guess I never saw it happen multiple times then.

Most killers hated that PTB because it gave survivors unlimited basekit unbreakable.
The entire time I was on that PTB, survivors were trying to weaponize the anti-slugging mechanic, by purposely creating scenarios where I was literally unable to hook them.
Yes, but that only worked on low-tier killers. S-teir killers like Blight and Nurse would just slug all 4 at 5 gens.
Again, I am not saying there was not killers who hated it. I was one of them (mostly because I am a Pig main, I like my boops and I like to give hatch. Sure, you could just not down the last survivor, but that's not the same thing as giving the hatch.) But there were a LOT that loved it, and when BHVR agreed not to push it live and to go back to the drawing board many of those killers came to these forums and said similar things about how it was great and they were caving to the whining survivor mains. -
@SkeletonDance said:
+ worth mentioning that the memento offerings and some killer perks that granted an ability to kill were changed in this PTB and killers despise that.
Oh yes, that was what made those of us who did not love it angry, however there still was a lot of killer mains that didn't care about those perks that were on board.
-
@SkeletonDance said:
Killers were definitely not loving this. First of all survivors recovered way faster than with the current anti-slugging mechanic so it ruined killers like oni and twins even more. Besides this mechanic was promoting a slugging thanks to that feature that killed all of the survivors who were down or hooked. Absolutely not. It was terrible.
Not all killers loved it, no. Just like not all survivors loved the current PTB. But there was still a LOT of killer mains that did love it, and they got angry when it didn't go live too. That's my point.
