The one thing I know about the wiki is that they update it by the code from the game so if the game code says you lose MMR you lose MMR.
They could have changed it and nobody updated the wiki but as they compared the game code after changes they usually update anything that is changed.
Well, obviously dataminers know more about the game code than BHVR. My bad.

Not true. You will lose MMR if you abandon being all survivors slugged situation or you abandon because you got slugged the third time. Reason why because those are considered a loss to you.
As killer you lose MMR if you abandon when there is no completed or regressed generator in last 10 minutes.
Thats what the DBD wiki says about the feature. Otherwise you could abuse the system by abandoning in the end and not lose MMR even if you clearly lost the match.
Well, the DBD Wiki is wrong as BHVR clarified that if anyone DCs or Abandons, the entire match doesn't count. Now, the moderator from BHVR that said that could in theory be wrong, but I would trust them over the Wiki.
-
An Abandon is treated the same as a DC and if anyone DCs from a match before it is finished, the entire match is thrown out. Sure, you keep your points, but the match does not go into determining your MMR rating nor taken into account with BHVRs internal data. Other than you having some BP to show for it, the entire match never happened the second any player DCs or Abandons.

Absolutely wild to be posting a personal attaboy and cash grab like this while the game and the community are in the state that they're in on the heels of a completely failed and abandoned nearly year long 'health initiative'.
So, they just should forget the 10th anniversary of their game entirely?
I will say though, the Collector's Edition including a "replica flashlight" makes me facepalm, and 9000 shards? Really? That's like maybe $7.50. -
While this is a problem, you're breaking forum rules here. This is a name and shame. Report it to BHVR using the proper report feature, not with a forum post.

Probably the hardest change to cope with is gonna be adjusting to its new name. How can it be anything but DS?
Well, for you it wont' be any different. It will just be confusing for new players when we veterans are like "Use DS" and they be like "Huh? What's DS?" Then we have to be like "Uh… uh….. checks websites Will to Live."

To be clear I am not interested in being a moderator myself, I used to be a moderator for adult websites and I consider myself retired now, but my suggestion is that maybe since mods are volunteers, maybe get someone like me (if I wasn't retired) that is a night owl and perpetually online. Were I interested in being a moderator ever again for anyone but a single Twitch streamer that no longer streams, I could totally take care of the forums on the weekends when the rest of you are taking a break (and no disrespect meant for your weekends off.)

That would require me to consider tunneling an issue I care about countering. DS has been available to me since 2021 when I started playing.

One side brings up valid points which can be discussed about and the other sides counter argument is "You just won´t have my side buffed"There is no conter argument just trying to insult the other side. But that's always true. It's not even limited to DbD. Whenever a change or idea is proposed, amidst the discussion there will be people who are angry/ranting.
Hey guys these things could be abused in this or that way can we talk abuot it? (adjust the numbers to 4 hooks)Abuse is one of those words that people have been throwing around like it ends the argument. The level of hooks is more about how extreme the anti-tunnel should be, but its also directly related to how many boosts the killers should get for unique hooks (basically, if the number of hooks dropped, so should the unique hook benefits).
This is no discussion this is just demanding without seeing the other side which was trying to negotiate with arguments. If we're going to do a broad 'this is how sides behaved', the forum was filled with people/killers opposed to the 9.2 PTB even before it was released.
Yes, many of us were opposed to it because we are able to read. We read the patch notes. We have played the game long enough to know that the 9.2.0 changes were going to be a trainwreck even before the PTB itself dropped.

Assumption is the mother of all screw ups. And you're on the internet. Assume away!
I try not to assume things, as people are in all walks of life and locations. Its not something everyone can fathom. Most can only look past their nose.
Anyway, I responded to most or all of your post. This single thing the only part you found worthy to reply to?
Most of your post seemed to be predicated on your mistaken impression of who I meant by "they" and so therefore I didn't feel any of it warranted a rebuttal. That, and I am in a particularly foul mood right now and saying too much about anything might catch me a ban.

Who is they? Forum members have been saying things for years. Your friends and others you personally talk to may say these things. Doesn't make it an absolute. But I understand what you mean, and I'll roll with it.
Now, supposedly many survivors players are quitting, suddenly slugging and tunneling are a problem they need to fix?
I believe whats happening is all the new players that come in with liscenses (FnaF, Castlevania, etc) come in, load up the numbers for BHVR in terms of players, log ins, etc.
The players learn the game sucks, isn't fun, as they get tunneled, slugged, and basically aren't playing a game thats enjoyable. In no world is that sort of gameplay enjoyable for a brand new player. So, they leave! They quit.
Now BHVR see's all these new players leaving and the reason they claim: tunnel, slugging camping. Seems to be a pretty logical cycle. Its not one that's fun or good for anyone involved, but this is what bhvr has created.
As for play the other side, yes many players do. But many players do not. Everyone that does play both sides always gets up in arms when we say to play both sides, but if you do, then we are not talking about you.
And we have no metric on 'how many' do or don't. So you will simply assume its a large amount since it, you know, sounds better. Its a common thing to do, but just misleading to oneself, imo.
"They" in my post was not meant as an absolute, I was talking about the developers. Sorry I wasn't more obvious, but I figured that rest of my post being about the developers changing their tune made it obvious.
-
I love how nearly everyone (likely most if not all of them are survivor mains) act as if killer mains don't play the game ourselves. Did many of the so-called "influencers" say the same things we were seeing? Yes. Does that mean that they we were just listening to them? No. But, they have the voice we do not.
I am a P100 Pig main. Even before the first "influencer" video went up, I was against the 9.2 BS and the more videos I watched, the more I didn't hear anything I didn't already notice and think myself. -

Everyone has their own ways of playing and their own rules or code that they play by so lets hear yours.
Killer:
- No intentional tunneling though if I just happen to run into you I'm not just going to ignore you.
- No face camping but hag or trapper traps are okay.
- No slugging but chasing another survivor away for a moment is fine.
- No BMing for any reason even if the survivors are toxic
- Keep the gens and survivors damaged as much as possible.
- If I'm playing Drac, yes you may pet the puppy but then im lunging at you.
Survivor:
- No teabagging
- No continuous looping, all out chase or death (usually death)
- No ratting out other survivors.
- No DCing (outside of a real world emergency).
- Flashlight Killer only when myself or others are in danger.
- Don't leave someone on the hook to die. (Taking a few seconds to finish a gen is okay).
General:
- No character, perk, add on or item is toxic they are all fair game.
- There is nothing wrong with trying to hard or too little to win
- Respect the friendly or fun players.
- No matter the results just have fun. Some of my favorite matches are low scoring.
My rules for both sides are simple.
Be respectful and remember the other side are human, not bots (unless they are bots.) Play in a way that you reasonably would like your opponents to play were you playing the other side.
Also, if you have Boil Over, I WILL Tunnel you. No apologies. You have been warned. -

I've been on these forums for ages, and I don't see people respond to chain hook denial complaints like that.
Mostly because I don't see people complain about chain hook denial in the first place, except 6 pages deep in a forum trench war about anti-tunnel.
And it's really frustrating, because I think it's a valid complaint, it's awful for gameplay in much the same way tunnelling is, and I think this is one particular thing that could be addressed that would hit the seal-team-6 swiffers harder than solo-queue. But the only time it's ever brought up, it's not because people want it fixed, but it's always to complain about survivors getting something fixed on their end.
Even this post, if you ignore the 'as the title says', the very first sentence just leans into the discussions around tunnelling.
It's never an argument of 'Fix this issue', it's always more in the direction of 'Don't fix survivor issues, because this killer issue exists'.
And that's what gets the animosity.
No, the point is any "fix" is going to not be liked by the other side because most players that speak up are not thinking of the other side's fun, only their own. A great example is awhile ago they made it harder to get saves out of a locker with a flashbang grenade. It can still be done but its a lot harder. When it was changed, there were tons of survivors here on the forums complaining that BHVR had ruined their fun.

They see it as a problem because they think that is why most players are quitting according to their completely survivor sided exit survey. if they lose 100 survivor players and 1000 killer players, but they only ask questions about why the survivors are quitting… they just have 1100 players quitting for survivor reasons, even though many of them are not quitting for those reasons. Change the numbers however you want, the data is still wrong.

Wanting a game where your opponent puts respect for their opponent is idealism. Preparing yourself for it when it doesn't happen is realism. They're not necessarily mutually exclusive, and honestly we all need more of both.
Oh, I agree completely and that's how I play myself. I rarely tunnel or slug unless the survivors are just being dumb (like if you are going out of your way to bodyblock me even when I am going after another survivor, get your Decisive Strike value, then yeah I will immidiately down and hook you again when I recover from the stun. Also Boil Over. I have PTSD from the RPD library and will unapologetically tunnel anyone running Boil Over.) But I don't expect every killer to play by my rules when I am on survivor. Same with survivor, I don't do the flashlight blind at every pallet thing myself, but I don't get angry at survivors who do. (On the other hand, survivor side I am a Claire Redfield main and run Blast Mine with Residual Manifest, I find it hilarious and when I get hit by a Blast Mine as killer, my thought is "Respect." )

I’m sorry, but isnt that kind of standard a bit unreasonable? Your stance of “survivors being able to loop a killer for 5 gens would beg to differ” implying that because it’s possible, therefore it is balanced and can be considered to have counterplay.
Thats not realistic, I mean by that same logic, majority of people believe Clown to be weaker, but ProVengence, a player with a 400+ winstreak on Clown, according to your logic now means that you should be able to meet those same standards because someone else did. Because your standard is if it’s possible, not if it’s probable.
Using outliers like that as benchmarks of balance is not a healthy representation of the game for any player regardless of preferred role. The vast majorly of survivor players cannot run a killer for 5 gens, and the vast majority of killer players cannot get that kind of success with Clown. Using the fact that it’s possible no matter how small the percentage is, is not proof of balance.
(Edit: sorry, accidentally tagged same post twice)
That was the extreme I admit. I should have elaborated my point more, and for that I apologize. My point was that many players enjoy the chase more than sitting on a generator holding a button Even if you will never be able to be good enough to run the killer for 5 generators, learn to loop better. Make so the killer has to give up too much to commit to a chase with you, and you'll be a better player.
Like it or not, getting rid of the weakest link is just the smart play. Don't be the weakest link.
To be clear, while I do tend to play The Pig (P100) the Legion, and The Oni most often, I do play survivor too and I am terrible at looping. i am the weakest link. -

There IS no counter. None. If killer proxycamps and decides to down you off hook there is zero counterplay. You are dead regardless of skill.
Survivors able to loop a killer for 5 gens would beg to differ. But sure, there is no counterplay.

I just finished a trial vs. a Springtrap. 2 of us remained, and whilst I distracted Springtrap long enough Jane got the door open.
I decided to abandon, only to find a) my stats screen took it as an escape, and b) my endscreen said I escaped!
Even now, I lost to a Huntress and abandoned when sacrificed, but once again I am seeing the escape on both pages!
So does that mean I am on BHVR's stats as a survivor escape, and were this true then does that mean any abandon is now an escape and would inflate their figures? Because this does not feel right.
I won't be abandoning in future until this is amended, because especially to the killers who earned the win (both Sprintrap and Huntress played well), it must be annoying to check the results screen afterwards and seeing a false result.
Yes, that is weird, however no. If ANYONE DCs from a match (and an abandon is just a DC you are not punished for) the entire match is thrown out. So that escape? Escape, Kill, what it says doesn't matter because the entire match NEVER HAPPENED. IT might show on our end, but it's not taken into account for BHVRs data in any way nor does the match calculate into anyone's escape or kill rates.

You cant just say get better at looping, even if you are good at looping 90 percent of the time most survivors dont escape this game will continue to be killer sided
I am not exaggerating when I say that at least half of my games a survivor DCs on first hook, if not first down. I am a freaking Pig main for crying out loud. Why are people DCing against a killer that is C tier if you are being generous, but more like D tier?

Would also be nice if we can do it without smashing m1 killers into the dirt... again.
Exsctly, and I am going to repeat part of this that I agree with especially,
BHVR ARE YOU LISTENING?
Elusive is good. Keep that. It encourages and helps the freshly unhooked survivor to escape and hopefully get healed. But the massive haste and endurance that can be weaponized by survivors? That's the problem. -

If you are getting hit with a pallet, you are engaging with the game.
If you are getting flashlight blinded, you are engaging with the game.
If you are getting chain stunned by a bully squad who set up a series of blinds, head-ons, and other stuns, you are engaging with the game.
If you are being looped, you are engaging with the game.
If you are being t-bagged at the exit gate, you are engaging with the game.
Any of that work too?
I agree completely. Thing is, I know how to counter or deal with all of those things. Nothing makes me happier than my Blood Warden making teabagging survivors regret their life choices.

Something happened to me a while ago that's still bothering me. I don't have a main survivor; I always play in rotation because I like variety. When I went into the queue that day, it was Sable's turn in my rotation. I don't usually read the pre-game chat, but for some reason, I did that day. And I'm glad I did, because otherwise, the match would have been a nightmare for me.
Apparently, the other three survivors were a SWF. One of them wrote in the pre-game chat, "Go, we don't like Sables," and I was too perplexed to reply immediately. Then they wrote again, "We'll keep you on the hook," and that's when I left. Sure, they got their way, but I don't see why I should stay in a match where my team is against me from the start.
What's with this nonsense of judging a player based on which character they're playing? I don't play any differently whether I'm playing Sable or Mikaela, Kate, Meg, Yun Yin, Nea,Leon,Bill ....
Anyway, I find it disgusting to be so mean to a random player whose personality and playstyle you know nothing about. I might have been able to save your butts in that match. But if you don't want, then fine.
There are a few reasons.
1. Stereotype of the typical player of that character.
2. This is a big one, they are a popular character therefore get more cosmetics than their preferred main.
3. Sable is particularly hated because she's one of the newest survivors but gets a cosmetic or two nearly every month.
It's mostly these these reasons, though there are others. But actively sabotaging the games, most players thankfully (at least to my knowledge) are not that petty. -
I don't know why people complain about tunneling when there are perks to counter tunneling like Decisive Strike for example. Seems silly to me.
-
Honestly, I agree as a former Susie main. The way I see it, the problem with The Legion is that The Legion exists in the first place. 2v8 or 1v4 doesn't matter. Survivors HATE The Legion. So I don't really see anything whatsoever that BHVR can do to fix the problem of The Legion in 2v8, much less 1v4.

I don't see how any of these very scaled-down measures could hurt me as killer. They might help me a little as survivor in very specific situations, against certain types of players, but this narrative that everyone plays "optimal" isn't true. Hard tunneling happens in maybe one in every 5-10 of my survivor matches. Plenty of people already don't lean on cheese strats.
I'm pretty sure most people, when starting a game nowadays, will look up some guides, especially for a game that has basically nothing built-in,. Even more so if they're having trouble grasping it.
Again, unlike the previous ptb, there is no punishment. That's like saying the basekit BT or the burst of speed after being hit is a punishment. It's just part of the game, and Elusive would be too, if it can get to live.
And editing whole paragraphs into a response that's already been replied to is very disingenuous.
Haven't you been listening? Killers are tunneling and slugging EVERY SINGLE MATCH.
Sure, I don't tunnel or slug because I don't care about sweating for the win, but you listen to survivor mains, tunneling and slugging oh yea and facecamping, all three happen every single match. -

Dead by daylight has the same feel and similar to COD. Both are competitive strategy games. We can agree to disagree but everyone deserves a comm. Friday the 13th had it and everyone loved it.I dont see what the issue is as it would benefit both killer and survivor.
No "everyone" did not love it. Everyone you played with might have, but nobody I know who played the game used the in-game voice chat. They still used Discord.

I have worked in the computer business my whole life. After building or repairing a computer, you always test it to make sure everything works before sending it to the customer.
Unless there is a hardware failure, a properly tested computer shouldnt just start crashing after delivery.
This goes for to streaming setups too, if everything is tested and working, it wont just magically break over night, unless the hardware fails, which can happen once. But if the hardware keeps breaking, then it is likely that someone isn’t handling the hardware correctly
Yes, but sometimes something can go wrong that you did not foresee.
We don't know that it was a hardware failure. One common problem I see streamers have often is that their OBS updated right before they got on stream and now it's broken. It doesn't happen very often, but it happens. When it does happen, yes it very much does just magically break over night. Bugs and stuff in software used by streamers is completely different than hardware.
Plus, what is this nonsense that crashing is only ever a hardware issue? More often than not, it's a software issue. You may be in the computer industry, but it's obvious what END you are on. You seem to know nothing about the software end. -

Many use it in COD, Rainbow Six and it helps teams a lot. Also makes the game more sociable and enjoyable. You don't have to use it but I'm sure many would be very grateful to have teammates be able to tell them: "Hey killer is tunneling. Come bodyblock for me." Why punish the killer players when a fair system like this would solve everything? The lack of communication is the main reason solo q players can't do anything about being tunneled or slugged or camped. You're looking at the negative too much when COD has had a comm system and that games been popular for ages.
This is not COD, this is not Rainbow Six. It doesn't matter how many use it in those games. What matters is that everyone is using it in this game. If not everyone is using it in a game, doesn't matter how grateful you would be for teammates to be able to tell you thing if they aren't doing it.
Seriously, built-in voice comms in DBD is a dead horse that has been beaten into paste. -

So if BHVR regularly have technincal dificulties with their streams, pehaps they should meet in before and make sure everything is ready and working, or set it up the day before so they can just turn it on when they need it to run?
As i said, i dont really care if streamers are late, but BHVR is a big company, and i would expect a professional approach to this.
You don't know you are going to have technical difficulties until you log in. If you and I set up to play some games together at 10pm, if I log in at 10pm and my computer is suddenly crashing, are you going to say I am being unprofessional because I didn't fix my computer crashing beforehand?

- Basekit Pop
is handholding, but:
- 10% haste
- Endurance
- Elusive
- No Sound
- See the killer's Aura
- 10% haste in endgame
- Endurance in endgame
- Survivors can pick themselves up if slugged too long
- Anti face camp
- Seeing the resolve bar on teammates
- Pallet changes that massively increase the number of pallets on maps that didn't need it while not acctually adressing the thing said changes claimed to be trying to fix.
- Etc.
Are NOT handholding?
Obviously they favor killers over survivors.
Or, as one survivor main once told me, "They treat killers like princesses, and you won't convince me otherwise." -

All these changes are so unnecessary when a comm system for survivors would fix everything and killers could play how they wanted.
That means nothing if players refuse to use it. Most streamers would not, and I wouldn't either. I use Discord. Even if they did have built-in chat, I would not use it. I don't want to talk to 12-year old kids screeching racial slurs at me because I brought a perk they don't like or because I am not playing up to their standards.

Yeah this sounds like terrible design. This would completely destroy the accuracy of the data.
So if when the last survivor abandons as soon as I down them ALL of those games are thrown out for mmr? That's nearly every single match now since the abandon system is basically a "go next faster" button. No one hardly ever waits the end out anymore. This would make my mmr basically never move, even if I'm winning.
Also if you abandon as killer after it's only bots left because they all abandoned, it shows them as escaping in end game screen. So on DBD data these would all be "losses" unless I finish out every game against bots?
This abandon system is a mess.
Yea, except the game has already been thrown out, so it's not a loss? I think?

I dont get the delay, if it should start at 1pm, why put up the starting soon screen at 1pm?
This is wasting peoples time.
Put the starting soon 15 mins before, if you really need that bhvr.
You obviously don't watch much Twitch. When you go live, Twitch sends out a notification. With exception of your most dedicated regulars, nobody is just sitting there while you are offline waiting for you. So, they need a few minutes to wrap up what they were doing, get Twitch open, etc. Nearly every streamer that has been streaming for any significant amount of time does a "Starting Soon" screen for about 5-10 minutes to let people arrive, so they don't miss too much.

I don't even know what to say on this thread, but those that matter know my stance already.

The purpose of Twitch drops is to support the community. This is why they make it charms, bloodpoints, banners, things like that. Do you want to have every charm and banner in the game? Sure, it's nice. But they are not something you need. They are not locking some meta perk behind Twitch drops.
If you don't want to support the community, that's totally cool. But then don't complain when you don't get the incentives they provide to support the community.
Plus, let's be honest. All you need to do for Twitch drops is sign up for Twitch, link your account, open a tab. Set the video to 160p to minimize your bandwidth, mute the TAB (not the stream itself.. this turns off drops!) on your browser, then go do something else. Check back every once in a while to make sure you have claimed the drops (you should get a notification that will show a (1) in the tab name depending on your browser, and there are third party browser extensions that auto-claim for you too.) Simple and you don't really even have to interact with the community.
Now, having said that, yes the GalaxiesShow drop was a complete fiasco especially as people were telling them that the drops would not work with SpecialEvents and the mods kept insisting that was not the issue, only to have them change it to Dead by Daylight finally two hours in, and…. oh look it suddenly works. -

Most of you replying think I'm talking about solo que.. you're wrong. I just played a game with 1 friend and 2 solos against a huntress. Every time she saw me, she wouldn't chase. Of course she went for the weakest link, smart. Hooked them in basement, and proceeded to proxy camp. Where is the skill at? Is that fun? Guess what, we all died trying to save the solo.
My whole post if you read it entirely is about balance which this game continues to get worse and worse at. Yeah, I never played killer, but yet I can loop most of them. I don't need to play killer because it's too easy to play as one. I like the challenge of playing as a survivor much more cause that's who I am, but when most matches end up the way they do, clearly there's a problem.
All you killers down voting me know how much easier it is playing as a killer. My friend only plays survivor too and she tried killer against loopers and still 4ked. You have a way better chance at winning as killer, which is unfair.
You know why it's unbalanced? Because a killer main with 3k hours can probably 4k almost every match if not at least 3k, yet a 3k hours survivor main who made this post, after a whole night of 0 escapes no matter how hard I tried, failed. Also, most loops now are mindgameable because they are smaller. I personally don't mind it because there's more resources after your usual solo que doorknobs prethrow the 2 good pallets on the game.
If I wanted to escape every game, then I have to change the way I play and instead play greedy which sometimes I have no choice in doing, but the best part of the game is letting other newer players have a good experience, so yeah, I play altruistic as much as I can because I carry a flashlight and I try to be there for my team.
What annoys me is the amount of things killers have now which makes it easier for them to play. This shouldn't be that way if MMR exists. It should be skilled based. All these buffs are overboard. I brought this point in my last post. Why play Billy if you can just easily do what he does on Oni now? There is barely any balance anymore. Most survivor perks are garbage while killers just keep getting more and more buffed. Every dlc creates a more broken killer. I personally like looping a chucky or a xeno or a springtrap or even a ridiculous hit box kaneki hitting you behind an obstructable object. My team thinks otherwise though because those killers are too strong for them. Point case with the ridiculous krasue. We had one today which tunneled out an innocent dwit no matter how hard we tried to save him. Then we all died. Most broken killer ever released and then to tunnel with them? What a joke.
There's so many aspects in this game that is just irritating and quite frankly makes the game not fun even though we love to play it. As my friend said "and ex gf we can't resist to go back to." Yet I want nothing to do with my ex and I want these irritating aspects of the game to be noticed and worked upon because I do want to play this game, but it gets harder and harder the more complex it gets.
All I'm saying in a nutshell is there's barely any balance in dbd anymore. Something needs to be changed.
You literally said in the first sentence of your opening post that "the devs should play their own creation as solo queue" and now you are saying people are wrong to think you are talking about solo queue? You literally mentioned solo queue in your first gorram sentence!

Wow, didn't even notice how different they were! Thought it was just a color swap of the background.

I am glad they finally made him run very fast just like in the movies.

Killer side my main is:
Why? Because she's an icon.
Survivor side, my main is Claire Redfield at least until Robin Buckley from Stranger Things is added to Dead by Daylight, which might never happen.
