No no, they were for sure cheating.

I had a cheater today as well. Two in the same match, actually.

Might have gotten into an ego battle. Might've been held hostage for a couple hours.

People need to realize that its just a game. If someone is cheating just to win, they shouldn't be playing then.

    That's not really a DDoS.

Sounds more like lagswitching or connection throttling but I guess it doesn't really matter.

Anyways, ######### DDoS'ers. Had way too many experiences with them on Xbox.

I've been going against quite a few hackers lately and this is the first time where my internet tanked while I was streaming from Discord to 2 of my friends. The other 2 said she was running around me and I was just staring at a locker. Then I unfroze, hit 2 survivors with hatchets and saw the Claudette, readied my hatchet and froze again. Saw the red icon of a skill check at the top left of my screen. When she left, it went back to normal. Cost me the match and she was the only epic user. Other 3 were steam users. I think she was either ddos'ing me or hacking because 4 gens with 1 dead is not possible in 20 seconds. Just made me realize that I made it to the big leagues now since I'm getting them constantly now. Had to report 4 of them in the past 2 weeks. Random damage from nothing. Looks like a mini scythe hits me from the side and I take a hit with no one around. Getting sick of it already.

  • Give killers a tent for being there longer than 20 seconds with a mini campfire.

Its dead? Before it even comes out? How? I thought it was once per hook or is that only 1 teammate can use at a time?

From what I understand, its once per person only now and against a face camping Bubba, its just not worth 30 seconds when you have to run to get near the hook then run back to your gen. Its like Kinship. Kinship was okay but no one uses it even though its 35 seconds. Paywall plus too short of an effect. Not worth running anymore.

Could do with a few more of you in Solo.

I'm with you to a point with not going for the unhooked, but if I know BT has worn off and I am getting destroyed, then I don't mind going for the guy whos just unhooked.

I still tend to slug even then incase of DS, damn that perk has scared me mentally over the years.

When I die the reaper will remove his hood and the DS emblem will be staring back at me with cold malice.

I have had the same when it comes to apparently camping. No proximity, got the proof for them to see, etc and I am still a camping, tunneling piece of freshly deficated sustenance.

I hope your stress levels have dropped a little more and you can just enjoy the game.

Hopefully I will bump into you in game on 1 side or the other sometime.

After years and years, I learned to not take this game super serious anymore. I've won a bit of cash on gift cards during tournaments but the stress during it wasn't worth the $50-$100 gift cards for each 1st and 2nd place wins. Once you relax, the game becomes much more enjoyable. Sometimes the game WILL screw you, other times I've ran into VPN killers who would hit me from literally 8 steps from a window and around a wall. I've had VPN'ers as killer who would start lagging all over the place and cause me to miss a few swings because their ping went from 70 to 650-990 ping when they're about to die.

Could be lagswitchers, who knows? Point is, this game is against real people. When you win, they lose. When you lose, they win. A side HAS to LOSE. Show respect and even when you lose, you'll usually get survivors who are super nice to you in end game chat and some will even let you hook them at the end twice or even die for you if they had a lot of fun. Not everyone is a sweat lord. Some people just want to mess around. You got this, Gorik. Just don't take everything serious. Trust me, this game has a way of getting under your skin very quickly when everything is sour. Just let it ride and soon, you'll enjoy it much more.

I get you brother, I play both roles a lot so I get the need to do things at times.

It's just the whole... " The Killer is the bad guy and there for tunneling etc is an issue the devs need to fix."

    that's what ticks me off.

Never mind that they did it to themselves, it's tunneling Killers and Devs that don't care that are always apparently to blame.

if you run at the Killer for any reason expect to be killed, don'[t give the Killer a hard time for it sort of thing.

I know this is obv stuff, but today it's really under my skin.

I feel you on that. I have screenshots on Steam against a Team that SWEARS I was face camping 2 different people and it was on "stream" but wouldn't show it. Went to my emblems and had 0 Proximity To Hook on it. Some people will throw every excuse for losing instead of just accepting that they played poorly or were outplayed. There's no shame in it.

It's forever in my steam screenshots for everyone to see xD Funny enough, I've met the same team about 7 months later and guess what? Same thing. Curb stomped them while 3 hooking (I don't camp or tunnel) and they accused me of gen camping. Sometimes you cannot win. Final thing, I try not to punish the unhooked for a rushed unhook.

I always go for the unhooker to give everyone a fair shake at a fun match. Same if someone is afk and I down them at the beginning of a match. I won't hook. I'll just leave. Does it hurt my game? A little, yes but do I get hate comments if I still win afterwards? Not usually. It's why I have so many positive comments.

I've went against a few big streamers who've signed my wall like Monto, OhTofu and even an old dev McLean, who was SUPER sweet. Its just how you play. I curb stomped them also but I always gave everyone a fair chance at survival because winning might feel good but doing it downing someone who had no chance to even run isn't skill.

Beating up a paralyzed person in a fight doesn't make you a badass, does it? So why do people say it's fair to attack someone who was immediately unhooked and goes down again (this was before BT built in) then act like it was skillful? Or playing Bubba and face camping someone to death? Or Hag/Trapper placing a ton of traps around the basement?

People can try to justify this by saying it's skill but all you're doing is beating up a disabled person who cannot help themselves and it disgusts me. Those instances, people deserve to get an earful. Otherwise, survivors who make excuses need to learn how to lose with dignity. At least, this is how I play and I usually 4k with any killer. 6 years, over 7k hours. Even use to be competitive but stopped because of stress.

  • All good, Man! Some people rush hooks but there are multiple reasons for doing so. It's not cut and dry from what I've experienced over the years. Some are desperate for points because other's do the same and screw them out of emblems.

Sometimes the killer is camping and they have to do a trade since a 3 vs 1 is guaranteed loss at 4-5 gens left against any decent killer. Could be a Rift challenge from the past. They might think it's safe because of a killers power (like Pig and Freddy), perks like Insidious and tinkerer and sometimes even an accident. Might just throw their lives away for that last save attempt.

Finally, They just don't care about a random but not every scenario is the same. Just some food for thought.

I get that's not fun but unbreakable. Unbreaka-boon Soul guard , tenacity , power struggle, flip-flop, boil over

They can all help you recover or wiggle out of the killers grasp

Killers have BBQ, Scourge Hooks, Devour Hope, NOED and a ton of gen regression perks after hooking to incentivize people to leave. Do they? No. They rather do the scourge combo so they can continue to camp.

  • Letting them know why this would be a terrible idea lol.

With the next update, the basekit bt will be increased to 10 seconds, and 10% of haste, with bt this will be 20 seconds, that it is really unfun in my opinion. Devs want to punish killer for tunneling and camping, but they never asked themselves "Why killers camp and tunnel?".

The answer is easy: because in high MMR is the only tactics accepted to win against 90% of the survs, because the insane gen speed (caused also by prove thyself, that needs a huge nerf).

So I have a question: why Devs continue to find ways to punish killers for tunneling, instead of find ways to incentivize mixed hooks?

In my opinion, they could make that more survs alive, less gen speed, less survs alive, more gen speed. This will fix tunneling, because you don't want a surv dead early game, because it would mean giving survs more gen speed. At the same time, you don't want to camp for the same reason, if you kill someone early game you find yourself with survs that do gens quicker.

4 man slug with plenty of slowdown perks to make it even easier.

  • Killer mains cried and won. I use to play both but not any more. I had one last hope for survivor. Been sick to my stomach playing survivor for the past couple of months and started to play killer only just about. Now I'm sticking with Killer except for Rift challenges. When a Bubba is face camping, just realize this. They will NEVER DO ANYTHING TO STOP IT SO ENJOY THE INTERACTIVE AND FUN GAMEPLAY OF HOOK SIMULATOR.

  • Whenever you go against a camping Bubba now since Reassurance is dead.

  • They killed reassurance. Can't wait to get paused for 30 seconds once against a camping Bubba so I never get rescued still :D Whoooo. Kept my promise. Playing only killer now. Sick of them screwing this up. Bubbas win like always.

There's an event addon that gives a single charge of blight's rush to every killer

I know this. Its why I said a super version instead to help with gen control. I know a lot of survivors didn't play during the event so they don't even know about it but the devs should remember it. Really fun item.

  • It doesn't work on yourself except for the bug going on right now. It only works for the other survivor by giving them 15% and it cancels out the negative of being together on the same gen. Its not busted and saying its 30% isn't correct. The person running it does not get the bonus AND it does NOT stack with others' who use PTS. So if 2 people both have PTS on the same gen, only 1 person will get the bonus. Not both.

  • Might be your router. Every month, you SHOULD be unplugging your router and modem for 1 minute to let it wipe all the traffic from it. I was having the same issues until I did. I was also only getting 25 Mbs per second instead of the 300 that I pay for a month. Let me know if that helps you.

I am probably wrong about ghostface but why shouldn't the killer be able to hit an exit gate to remove progress like with gens, since the killer is literally powerless against a 99 exit gate and there is 0 counterplay

Just open the gate as killer then? It's why it was added. 99'ing doors was always a thing. It's literally why they gave killers the ability to open the door, to start the endgame collapse.

  • @HugTheHag said:

I mean... People can still complain, and rightfully so in my opinion.

Reassurance may be a thing, but that's a bit lazy at best, greedy at worst in my opinion to make the band-aid fix to camping something survivors have to actually pay for (since this is a franchised DLC) and spend a perk slot on. Now killers will be more self-righteous than ever to camp, because they'll just have to say, "why don't you run reassurance then?".

I won't expect all of my teammates to run this, as I don't expect all of my fellow casual players to spend money on it. If I get camped, I'll always be more mad at the killer than at my teammates for not bringing an 8$ perk. And I'll keep complaining, though perhaps not on this forum.

Plus wasn't 6.1.'s objective to create variety in gameplay and kill all perks that 75% survivors use ? Now what will happen if everyone starts running Reassurance ? I firmly believe if something has to be done about camping, it should be base kit so that everyone benefits from it equally.

Camping killers will now be in a kind of in a win-win situation where they can both lord over survivors that they should have brought reassurance when it isn't used, and complain when the perk is brought.

While I am glad that at least something exists now to counter camping, I do not think it will make the game that much healthier in terms of relationship between killer mains and survivor mains.

(I'm saying all this as someone who does not main one side or the other)

Camaraderie (Kinship now) was a paid dlc with Stranger Things that kind of did the same thing but no one used it because it was too short, easily used up by accident and didn't really do anything for the first hook so I don't have any right to say anything about greedy since I buy any dlc for this game as soon as it comes out whether I like the killer or not (I have every achievement so far and I just don't want to get behind on it) so this won't affect me as much but I really do love the way this perk functions.

Most teams will NOT leave you behind.

My god, I envy you. I get a lot of teams who leave people to die on first hook or don't attempt to rescue once it's down to the final gen much less if the exit gates are powered. I'm not saying I always get those teams, but I get them often. Less than 30% of my matches see all 5 gens get done, but in the ones where the exit gates are powered in at least half of those the survivors will leave whoever's hooked to die, even when the one hooked is not being camped.

Sandbagging and griefing are not something I see in every match, but they're things I see multiple times a day as either killer or survivor. Through experience, I have no trust or faith that others will not abuse a chance at having fun at someone else's expense. None.

BHVR should either give the survivor on the hook options to prevent being held against their will indefinitely (like maybe only the first use of Reassurance is mandatory, and after that the survivor on the hook has to actively agree to it with some sort of timed response), or they should give the survivor on the hook Bloodpoints (it ruins any attempts at griefing, as it sort of kills some of the fun if you're rewarding your victim Bloodpoints).

I'll ditch the griefing thing though and look at it from a scenario where it's being used to keep a camping killer busy:

If I'm running Reassurance and I see the killer camping and I keep the survivor on the hook alive to buy myself and my team time, I'd be fine rewarding the hooked survivor Bloodpoints. They are keeping the killer busy, and because I'm not attempting a risky rescue, they're not even getting a chance at getting in a chase or using their Decisive Strike. I might be underestimating what they could accomplish because I don't have all the information, and I'm just not willing to risk my own skin on hope. That is on me. I'm using them for more time to participate and earn Bloodpoints, possibly with no intention of attempting to save them after the exit gates are powered. And hell, if the exit gates do get powered and then I unhook them, they lose out on their DS and OTR. So I really see no problem with at least rewarding them for everything they lose out on due to my use of Reassurance.

Fair enough. They could add a BP bonus if you get tagged with the perk for both survivors. Like 500 points for survival for the one on the hook and 200 for the person who's tagging you with the perk. That way, if you cannot be rescued, you have a chance at maxing your survival category! Would that be alright? Also, yeah, 100%, I forgot that OTR and DS deactivate now at last gen so that would not be unreasonable but the person who is hooked should get 500 or more points per ding since they're keeping the match alive.

  • @botany_nerd said:

literally the only thing that needs to be done to the perk is allowing the hooked person the ability to cancel the effect by pressing a button. problem solved for the trolling and killers don't get a bs nerf on probably the best anti camping perk we've had.

I would add that PLUS disable this perk after the last gen is done but I completely agree! Another user made a good point. For the survivor being hit with the perk, they should get 500 points in survival for each ding so they don't get screwed out of points.

  • @DBDVulture said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/340782/if-you-want-reassurance-nerfed-because-of-trolls

Most people hate legion. The fact that legion exists is not justification for some other stupid game element.

Reassurance should have a 2:30 minute cooldown before it can affect that same survivor again. In other words after someone uses that perk on a survivor you cannot use it again until 2 minutes pass AFTER they had the 30 second effect of pausing the timer.

That perk would NEVER be used again. You know why Comradery is never used? Its because its used once and done. A whole MATCH for 1 specific use. No one uses it because it was useless against real campers. This is a real threat. I was playing survivor last night and we tagged a guy 4 times before the killer FINALLY left the survivor. 4 times. If you don't want to apply pressure to gens, fine but you won't get a free kill that easily. Camping can be unlearned by this perk. This dudes' profile had nothing but camping comments lol. We made this guy finally LEAVE a hook for the first time in this person' life lol. If they change it in any way except for adding a way to stop it from working as the last gen is done, NO ONE will use this perk.

  • @Raccoon said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3128380#Comment_3128380

Pretty sure there is only one person being punished in that scenario, as the killer also knows that the perk is in play and has no plans on leaving the hook.

Edit - I guess the survivor can also do some basement YouTube :P

They gotta do something because I want to WIN. Not LOSE because of a mechanic that people complain about then defend. I'm defending this perk. If camping is justifiable, keeping someone alive to win the match is also. That's my point.

  • I would like a faster crouch and stand up animation for Pig plus half a second off of her dash charge so she can use it more often than not. Otherwise, she seems fine as is.

Without Reassurance, there's a hard limit on how long I'll be on the hook, and I at least get to earn a few Bloodpoints hitting the second state skill checks. Being stuck indefinitely with no autonomy, not getting to participate, not earning points, is the thing that sucks. I never said suicide.

And what I said in the feedback was that it SHOULD deactivate once the last gen is done so the game can finally end so you WILL get to struggle and get those points. It'll just give time for your team to do gens. You'll just have to be on the hook for an extra 2 minutes so 4 instead of 2 if the killer is hardcore camping you. Once the last gen is done, the game resumes as normal on the hook. Your team either has to open the door and leave you behind or make a rescue attempt. Most teams will NOT leave you behind. They will attempt to rescue you. At least, when I'm solo, my team does unless its a Bubba.

You're dead in 2 minutes if he facecamps....normally.

With this, if he is facecamping you in the basement and intent on not moving (or AFK watching YouTube or w/e) until you're dead...You get no points and are stuck for 5+ min (gen time + travel time to proc + exit gates), then you die.

So punish the team because the killer decides to camp? No thanks. I also said in the feedback that it SHOULD deactivate after the last gen is done so everyone has a fair shake so the game doesn't go on indefinitely.

As a solo survivor, I want to play and earn Bloodpoints. If I'm sitting on a hook not getting to participate, stuck without any way out and not earning anything for it, I'm going AFK and whenever I come back the match better be over and the game is going off for the rest of the night. Seriously.

Who's fault is that? Its not your TEAMS' fault that you got caught then camped? So punish your team then? I can't wait to use this perk. This is the exact reason. Damn hook suiciders. Final thing, they're doing gens. The killer can LEAVE whenever they like to chase someone else. I mean a survivor HAS to get super close to activate it unless its above or below but even then, people say that its not fair. Why is it not fair that a survivor can activate it above or below? You are the KILLER! YOU can MOVE from the HOOKED SURVIVOR. IF you see the timer paused, LEAVE THE HOOKED SURVIVOR. Otherwise, don't complain about gens.

  • @MommyHunktress said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/3128340#Comment_3128340

well sometimes that isnt gonna work out, a swf who does gens will do them regardless, ive had a 4 man do the gens really fast against me and I had couldnt do anything and ive had swf not do them fast. camping os a strat for a reason, sometimes survivors are very smart and good with gens and when that happens your casual build wont work, and to not camp is to just accept a loss, but that goes straight to individual playstyle. if the gens went really fast even if you played well then win however you want.

Correct and stopping the hook timer is ALSO a strategy. If its a perk, its a strategy. NOED is a strategy. Face camping is a strategy. Tunneling is a strategy. THIS is also a strategy. It allows you to divert the killers' attention onto the hooked survivor while you and the others' pound gens. If you want to camp, CAMP, but just know it WILL be countered now. Its not a "punishment", its a perk and fair gameplay. If I load into a match, get tagged instantly by a Nurse with Lethal in the first 10 seconds and get hooked then get face camped, my team deserves a chance at the win still. They should not be punished for my ######### run or the killers' playstyle. We all deserve a fun match. If the definition of fun is standing in front of a survivors' face for 2 minutes so they don't get to experience ANYTHING, well, have had it. Now there is a counter.

Final Note: If gens are flying that fast, you're already messing up as killer. After the first 2-3 gens, the rest are usually harder to do without getting caught by the killer due to snowballing. Pressure means leaving the hook. Not staring at a survivor, giving free gen time to survivors then complaining about gen times. They even had 50 seconds more to the game on average and reduced a lot of actions across the board. If you STILL don't apply pressure, that's on you.

  • @TragicSolitude said:

The only complaint I have about the perk at the moment is that the survivor on the hook has absolutely no autonomy. They're not being allowed to participate in the game because they're on the hook, and if they want to die (or need to leave the match or something) they are unable to do so.

If BHVR isn't going to change it so the person on the hook has some way out of the match, then the player should be making lots of Bloodpoints for being forced to stay on that hook. Lots and lots, to make up for the fact that they can neither participate in the match nor leave.

You can't participate in the match either way if you're being face camped by a Bubba. At least this way, you're helping your team get out instead of being a means' to an end.

  • Only change should be that it deactivates after the last gen is done. That's it. It's fine as is. If you don't want to pressure survivors off of gens and waste another survivors' time by camping them, survivors deserve a way to combat that until the game is over.

  • @Mercês said:

I just had a match where I killed two survivors with 4 gens left. Both were hooked 3 times each and one of the two remaining survivors was on death hook and the other had been hiding during all match.

I've found the survivor that was doing objetives multiple times, but since I didn't judge fine letting him bleed out in the ground while the hiding survivor (that didn't touch a single gen for at least 5 minutes) live, I ignored the altruistic one and looked for him for at least 5 minutes.

The hiding survivor reported both of us for working together to find him.

What's your opinion about this? Mine is "yes, if karma applies".

In 2 scenarios, yes. I can actually see it being fair and warranted to team up with a survivor to finish off another survivor if I'm playing killer.

  • @TheArbiter said:

Mainly been playing Wesker in the PTB and haven't been able to test this myself. So if someone procs the 30 seconds on the person on the hook and someone else immediately activates it as well does the time stack to 60 seconds, or do they have to wait for the first 30 seconds to expire?

It's not supposed to and so far, it doesn't seem to stack with me or my friends when we play so I'm guessing no. Also, anyone can reactivate the perk for 30 seconds if they have the perk too before the first time has expired so you can, in theory, keep it active for as long as you need with 2 people but that wastes a ton of time if the killer isn't camping. Gotta run back and forth over and over again to do that while someone is being chased by the killer. If not, its the best anti-camping perk in-game currently.

  • I'd rather be healed 1 charge every 3.5 seconds reactively over time. Like a self-care but longer. With this, it'll heal you retroactively over time for a total of 56 seconds if you don't heal yourself, someone heals you or you are not broken nor affected by heal slowdown perks. THAT would be a helluva perk!

As a killer main I really don't enjoy camping and only use it when my hand is forced, I am perfectly fine with this perk since its range is super short, it just needs to deactivate after the exit gates are powered and its fine.

I made a post about that too. I think its perfect except that it really should deactivate once the FINAL gen is done, no matter what. Not have the gates open, but once the final gen is done so you can't just get infinite time at that point since the game is finally coming to an end. If he/she wants that kill after 5 gens of face camping, let 'em have it. That's all they'll get, though.

  • A few counters to a given power gives fairness but a power that is overbearing is unfun. Wesker is a perfect example of this. He's got range, does damage, infects to slow you down, insta-carry after a second hit, insta-down if you throw and hit an object, and finally, if he vaults with his power, he fatigues and if you don't react in time, he WILL get a hit on you with his knife.

If you do react fast enough, you can barely make another loop or window if one is nearby. He's the definition of fun AND fair. His power is extremely good, good mobility and great use against people teabagging at the exit gate but also has enough counters to knock him down a peg.

He's the perfect amount of strong but no oppressive and when you DO manage to dodge his dash attack, you actually feel like you did something great and his fatigue is enough to gain distance without feeling like it doesn't matter, compared to Legion who you can pallet slam but they just jump over and start stabbing you. You never feel like you won. Its just constant annoyance.

I’m with most of the posts here. I don’t care if someone kills themselves on hook when they were obviously about to die on hook anyway. But killing yourself on hook when it’s the first hook or when it’s the second hook but someone is on the way to rescue you is pretty weak sauce. Imagine if football players just went home after they got tackled or baseball players left after they struck out, it’s just really disrespectful to all the other players in the game.

I really like your analogy for this.

I agree with you. And as sarcastically as I can muster via text,

I think he just wants to make sure that once the killer completes their objective and sacrifices a survivor, they can complete their next objective using the same map resource.

So I'm completely certain he will have zero issues allowing survivors to complete the same generator five times in a row to power the exit gates.

    Same energy.

I completely agree lol. I remember when hooks didn't come back lol. Sabo was broken and you HAD to slug. We almost have almost double the hooks now than we use to have. I remember when I started, you had like 7-8 hooks in the ENTIRE map lol.

I don't...really understand what's going on in this thread.

Why do hooks break permanently on sacrifice? To make things harder for the killer.

Why do downed survivors move to a place where there are no hooks? To give them a chance to wiggle out when you pick them up.

The only real question here is why aren't you picking them up? Because you're guaranteed a kill (at least if other survivors can't get to them) through bleed out. Which actually is a discussion for whether people shouldn't bleed out but recover, lol.

This mechanic is literally there to give survivors chances, and it's worked. It doesn't often come into play, but in those rare times it does, it's made a difference. If it's coming into play in your games often, pick up the survivor and see what happens. You never know, you might get another three minutes of actual gameplay.

There is usually at least 2 hooks in close proximity to each other at all times in almost every map. If you burn both of those hooks and catch the 3rd person and can't hook them in that area then just go and find the 4th person to down and hook them instead. I'm just not seeing the real issue here. I'm agreeing with you. Starting to think the ones wanting this change camp a lot or something because I've only had this happen like twice in almost 6 years of playing this game and it happened when you could perma-break hooks. It was awful. Hooks are a resource that you must manage so you don't penalize yourself later on. You made really great points, also.

Dude, you haven't even read what I said. The point is not about this being avoidable (which depending on the map it isn't but that is beside the point), it is about it being an inconvenience that isn't even about gameplay. The only thing it does is incentivize the killers to let the survivor bleed out, which is a huge waste of time for both sides. I am really not giving a survivor another second chance (because they already have too many), if you want to wiggle out when the game is already over and there are no hooks around then you are being petty since, unless the killer is stupid, you know that you will be just left to bleed out wasting 4 minutes of your time and 4 minutes of the killer's time just because you don't want to accept that you lost the game. It is simply annoying and gives a way to express petty behavior from the survivors.

Wait, wait, wait. If survivors' 3-gen themselves, its fine and its on them for making that mistake but if a KILLER breaks 2-3 hooks in an area, making it impossible to hook a survivor then its not fair and needs to be changed? What kind of crap is that? You can choose where to hook. Got perks for that, too. Choose better hook options and don't camp. Survivors' don't owe you a free hook, just the same as killers' don't owe you a free hatch just because you did most of the work in the match for your team.

Why should survivors get breathing room if they three gen themselves?

Why should a killer get a free hook after hooking 2-3 survivors in the same area, wasting all of the hooks? Same thing. You have the ability to pick up a survivor and carry them to nearby hooks. If you hooked 3 people in the same AREA to the point that there is NO hooks, then either they magically got caught in the EXACT same area or you stayed close enough to a hooked survivor to down another survivor and got another hook for it in a snowball. Why should you be rewarded for not leaving the area? The amount of hooks on the maps is almost a guarantee that no one will wiggle off naturally, sometimes not even with 1 protection hit either. Hooks that are used for a sacrifice need to stay gone. You chose that hook, same as a survivor chose the gens that they do. You have caused yourself an issue near the end, that's on you. (edit: Added "have" to fix the final sentence)

Was it in the shack? I recall once in the indeterminate past seeing a gen in Dead Dawg's shack in place of the gallows gen.

    It was indeed.

They never did for us. Didn't have a gen on the street, either.
