  • I disagree, Nurse needed the nerf to her basekit. Even without add-ons she was overpowered for how easy she was to use. Imo and in many other streamer's and good players opinions, Nurse is fine now. But this Billy change is awful. He's still going to be an ok killer, but man is he gonna be one of the lamest killers in the game now, and one of the most boring to play against. I think I said it before but Billy's gonna turn into a backrev simulator if these changes go through

  • It's a timed battle pass, and the reason why is because they WANT you to buy into it and spend as much time as possible in grinding tiers. Why? Because BHVR, like many other companies that have these passes, know that some people couldn't handle missing new content like this. Why do you think they also continuously shove the rift into your face at the end of each match, and telling you that you levelled up even if you didn't win anything? If it wasn't timed you wouldn't feel like you're missing out, so you might not buy it.

But that is balance no more infinite chainsaw is like real life a chainsaw won't last forever.

Why on earth would you justify a nerf to a game mechanic based on how it would act in real life? It's a video game.

  • Head on for survivor and mad grit for killer. Never gonna get tired of spamming m1 with Plague and Demo while I have mad grit.

  • This is a stretch even for the DbD community. The reason BHVR nerfed Billy is because they thought he was overperforming, and now they're going to be "happy with the current design"...just like they're now happy with Ruin's current state, Nurse's current bug-ridden state etc. Doesn't really matter if we're not happy with it. As long as they are it's all good, right?

    ...right guys?

  • It actually does in a way. You can completely be unaffected by a Billy saw if you sprint burst the moment before he runs into you. It's not i-frames, it's just auto-aim being horrific like always.

    1. That's why you quickscope
    2. That's why you reel backwards
    3. That's why you bring reload add-ons
    4. That's why you don't miss too many shots
    5. That's why you don't want your chain to break (unless you want to save stacks for a perk)

Just wanna interject here, reeling and backpedalling doesn't reel survivors in faster. It's the same speed, but it will get them away from obstacles that could block your reel.

  • He's still fine as a killer, yes. Nobody's really denying that fact. But he's so incredibly lame to play now. Backrev simulator, he's gonna be so boring to play against. You're almost never gonna get a curve on good survivors now because you don't have enough time before you overheat, and almost everyone will be too afraid to do anything cool with him anymore because of how punishing it is. Hell even new players and people who tried Billy before will see that you have almost no time at all to rev the saw before it overheats, so mindgaming with it is pointless and they'll just follow them until they are up their ass and can then backrev. What fun.

Not only that but never interacting with the killer is pretty boring on the survivor side too at least for me it is, if game has gone on for too long and I havent been chased I'll just chase the killer down till they decide to chase me.

Suppose some people might find it funny to play hide and seek with the killer but even that would get old fast. I genuinely don't see what they could gain from being ultra stealthy in a game like DbD, because running a killer is the one part of the game as a survivor where your skill is actually tested against a human player, and it's something you can improve at, which is kind of what a PvP game is all about.

Disagree, as someone who loves good fov, the limited fov of killers is a balancing thing and it works nicely, it is also one of the least invasive small fovs that I have experienced (I still prefer the release version of killer's camera than what we have now).

Some boosted SWF survivor main complained in this topic that stealth a d hiding is boring, to which I say, eat a poop and go towards a light (in a virtual world, because sjw). People have fun in different ways. Stealth should be more promoted than what extremely boring meta we currently have.

You know you could always just mention me with an @. instead of calling me a boosted survivor main and tell me why I'm wrong that way ;) But stealth should not be promoted in DbD, imo. If you wanted that kind of experience, single player horror games have that in droves.

You say the current way the game is played is boring and stealth should be promoted, I'd have to hard disagree playing hide and seek as killer is so boring it makes me want to dc, it's literally why I run whispers and I run shadowborn every once in awhile if I'm feeling nauseous since playing killer without shadowborn for extended periods of time makes me feel like vomitting, but yeah neat gameplay element I guess.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who literally feels nauseous from playing DbD for too long. And yeah idk why people are complaining about stealth being worse. There's no interaction going on when a survivor is crouching around and generally being useless. Like yes there is a time and place for a bit of stealth and avoiding detection but that kind of stealth will still be easy to pull off even with an extra 15 degrees FOV to killers.

Like i said, i dont have 1000000 hours, but after my stunning 100 i NEVER, even once, seen Spirit Fury perk in use. And i beat you know why. :)

Even if SP perk was usable, droping pallets it is a waste, because killer will usually check sound so you have to run away, and if you will be somewhere else, he will just kick pallet, and you will never use it. Waste x2 - pallet and your time. Seriously dude, even i know pallets are to stun killer, with that you have a chance to escape.

And anyway, i never know who im fighting so droping pallets randomly seems even more dumb; and when it is a Doctor, i just give up anyway to save my time, no point of fighting him.

Ok I think you misunderstood what we mean by dropping the pallet early. You do it while in a chase to create distance and force the killer to kick it. You don't have to run away from a loop, you can use it as well as you can until you have to drop the pallet, and this entirely depends on the killer you're playing against. Forcing a killer to kick a pallet at a moderately safe loop IS using the pallet, because you're wasting their time if they think they can catch you on it. 9 times out of 10 they won't if you're paying attention.

And once you start to play against good killers they'll catch on to what you're doing, and you won't just be able to "stun killer, run away instantly without looking" because this can get you hit quite easily depending on the pallet. Can't tell you how many times I've seen a survivor instantly hold W in the opposite direction of a pallet just because they got a stun on me, and then I hit them less than 10 seconds later because they expected me to break the pallet straight away.

  • There are a ton of great Huntress players to watch. Ralph, CoconutRTS, Zubat's and Scott's old videos, Tofu is decent, Umbra etc. Don't need to watch them for their aim, but watch what they do in terms of how they get map pressure and when they break off a chase and try to emulate that in your games. You have to play killer a lot more to get a feel of knowing when you should commit to a chase, where you should be going, learning map layouts etc.

Also if you aren't elitist to the idea, use a crosshair. It can be such a minor thing but it can help people to varying degrees in being comfortable with Huntress. I've used one on her before and it felt great. And if you do decide to, don't let anyone discourage you for using it. You wanna play that way and it's not bannable so who cares?

Im new compare to other 200000000000000h players here, but even i know this is most stupid thing to do - waste of a pallet. :/

This is not a stupid thing to do, because greeding pallets against a Doctor is what gets you killed. And it's also to play around spirit fury if you see the killer has enduring. If they are running enduring it's safe to make the assumption they have spirit fury too, so dropping the pallet early prevents spirit fury from ever activating.

Edit: Actually for the record, greeding pallets against a lot of killers will get you killed. Freddy, Clown, Demo, Deathslinger, PWYF Bubba etc.

i don't get it when people say: " i don't main him anymore because he got changed!"

isn't there something more about maining a Killer only because he's strong? You don't have the "Special" Connection to a Character? or am i the only one who thinks in that way?

Like me as example, i main Doc since the release. So i know how bd he was, but never left him. Because i liked everything on him. Not only if he's strong or not

There's something about maining a killer because they're FUN. Billy was fun, and he no longer is. That's the reason why everyone is jumping ship. He's not weak, he's now tedious and really boring, especially compared to how he was before they clowned all over his camera and animations. His add-ons definitely needed a nerf, because every single charge time addon was between "extremely strong" to "borderline overpowered". And Idk what kind of emotional connection one could have to a strechy-skinned redneck with a chainsaw but there's probably something there for some questionable individuals to enjoy.

  • @GreentheNinja said:

The reason they don't have an FOV slider is because then everyone would set it to like max and it would make hiding harder

If everyone had the option to have permanent shadowborn 3 it would make hiding harder, but literally who cares if it does? Hiding is the most boring and uninteractive playstyle in DbD and does nothing but piss of killers and survivors, and if it's harder because of a change like this then that's a good thing, it SHOULD be difficult to hide from a killer. P3 Claudette is still impossible to see even with shadowborn anyway.

  • Probably Demo. Can end chases fast but survivors can survive pretty well against him if they know what they're doing, and if the Demo knows what he's doing can also end chases quickly. If you mess up, you know exactly where and how you messed up and got punished for it, which is why everyone, or at least me and a few others, love playing against him (imagine having a solid chase power that doesn't feel cheap and isn't a ######### guessing game where the reward is a whole half a second of extra time if you guess right before you have to do it again?) He also has the portals which give him some decent map presence, tracking and slowdown if survivors are insistent on breaking them. He's also fun to play as, not just against.

Basically Demo is the last hope for DbD and is one of 2 killers keeping me playing, the other being Myers because his stalk feels decent now.

  • It's a good thing. All the charge time addons were way too strong so I'm glad they're gone. Honestly that's all they needed to do to Billy but...oh well.

  • I agree that the Franklin's change was....weird to say the least....but honestly it won't be a big deal. There will be very few killers running this perk after the first week or 2. You don't see anyone running it now so I don't see the problem with it. Also start running plunderers and ace in the hole, and get your items that way. A killer probably won't run Franklin's if there are no items being brought in, and it's much more fun too.

  • Legion is like Plague, but without the interesting bit. They both don't have much to help them in a chase and you're constantly injured, but that's it with legion. You don't have anything else unlike plague who has her corrupt purge that can really shift the pace of a match. They're also a really boring design. Bunch of edgy teens with knives and a mask. How fascinating.

He's fun to play against if you know what you're doing.

Thing is, you have no idea what to do against Deathslinger because it's all guessing. If you like that then go for it, more power to you. But for me it's really not a nice experience at all. Even if you manage to "guess right" you have maybe 4 or 5 seconds to try and get away before he can shoot you again. Not very rewarding or satisfying imo. It's the same with Spirit. You manage to guess right but she's right back on you in 5 seconds because fun.

It removes an excuse to tunnel. Now you know if they tunnel you they were going to anyways. No excuse now using this perk.

There was no excuse to begin with. You wanted to tunnel so you tunneled, just own up to adopting this playstyle instead of trying to justify it as if it's something you were forced to do and out of your hands.

If you're far away, you hear the phasing noise.

If you're close, you don't hear anything at all.

If you see her, she shimmers white which is hard to miss.

If she's phasing, you can still hear her footsteps and bushes move.

There are a lot of ways to tell that she is phasing, a lot of people just don't pay attention.

If you're close enough to see her shards light up she's just gonna hit you anyway because you have to be in her face to see the shards light up. You can't see them at a normal distance around almost any loop. You just can't. You do not see or hear bushes move when she's phasing, because if you did me and many other people would not be complaining about her having no tells. As for the footsteps, same as the shards - if you hear her stomping around you're probably getting hit in a second.

would nerf totem perks even more than they are now. I barely ever run totem perks for this reason alone, its a gamble and can be countered in first 20 seconds of a match with no skill, just hold m1 you dont even get a skill check on totems.

How would knowing how many totems on the map need totem perks? It wouldn't tell you the location of them or anything, it will literally just tell you at the start that 5 totems are on the map and that's it.

  • A counter to show the amount of totems left on the map would be the most welcome addition at this point. If you knew how many totems were left you might be inclined to search for them, instead of being completely in the dark about how many are left. You have no way of knowing so it feels pointless to just cleanse 1 totem that you find along the way, because there's 4 more that you have literally no way of knowing how many are left, and if you should keep searching for them.

Hell even give them a small effect, like -2% repair speed per dull totem.

  • Ace. Usually Ace players are really good and chill dudes. No idea why but it seems like good players will pick either ace or the Dweard skin on Dwight more than most survivors. Neas are kind of the same but there are those default skin neas that you never want to see.

  • As killer, Ormond. Omega-safe non-mindgameable pallets one after the other, that can be connected to shack, or even that long wall jungle gym that's possibly the strongest structure in the game next to shack. And the snow makes it hard to see scratch marks. I really don't know what they were thinking when making Ormond but holy ######### it's so bad.

And then you have Hawkins as survivor, which I don't really need to go into.

He's still joking lmao. He's been a forum member since February 2019 so I doubt he doesn't have at least a year's experience.

  • Somebody already said it, but gore definitely doesn't mean that a game is automatically scary.

I'm also just gonna say this and I might repeat it in the future but...anything they add to make this game "scary", you would enjoy for about a week and then QUICKLY start to hate it. Horror in a video game is about removing a sense of control in a situation, making you feel helpless, or surprising you in such a way that it completely changes your experience and feeling. In a multiplayer game, you'll be experiencing it over and over on the daily, and this kind of horror will wear off FAST. It will go from scary to tedious real quick, because removing control from a player in a multiplayer game is boring and not fun.

  • Are you running soul guard and was she running a hex perk? Or no mither? Those are the only times you can pick yourself up more than once per match...

If not then holy ######### I didn't know this was a thing and if it is that's really dumb and needs to be reported.

Seriously whats the difference between a point blank shot

    And a gf stab

    a mike lunge

    Hillbilly saw

    Bubba saw

Why is a point blank hatchet powerful enough to need a nerf but you are not complaining about characters that do it easier, faster, and more often?

GhostFace needs to stalk you and chase you properly to get an instadown. It takes a while for him to properly stalk you, and if you have 2 loops connected to each other he's not downing you while you're exposed. Myers is the same.

Billy and Bubba need to rev a chainsaw and also need to be in the right place.

Iri hatchets? You wind up a hatchet which takes less than a second, you throw it at the survivor who's hitbox is several continents wide, they instantly go down and you recover almost instantly. Oh and you can hit them over most loops, and outside of lunging range. This is why it's busted. It's so fast that you end a chase in literally less than 5 seconds with almost little effort, and can either instantly go for another guy or instantly pick them up. The moment you get the first iri head down you've won the game.

While i agree at the same time just nerfing his mobility and nerfing backrevving and nerfing curving and now nerfing his map pressure while giving him nothing to compensate for it you just took a S tier Killer down to about maybe C tier in all honesty. just give him flick back at this point give him something to now handle that backrevving is dead.

Nerfing backrevving? I'm sorry but what lmao. The time it takes to fully overheat the chainsaw is about 12 seconds. If you can't backrev someone in that amount of time as Billy you have other problems you need to address, like actually learning how to play Billy. This change will probably not affect him much at all. It's gonna be more tedious, yes, and it wasn't necessary (all they had to do was remove the charge add-ons, the things that were actually a problem) but he's still gonna be about the same.

  • This change will barely change his skill cap at all. Billy won't require more or less skill because micromanaging a cooldown meter isn't skillful, it's tedious.

  • I'd recommend taking a break. If you really wanted to get BPs for the event items then play with your brain off and run around as Billy or something, try and learn some new ways to chase survivors and get 4 stacks of BBQ.

Then again you should really consider playing or doing something else instead. Nobody should feel forced to play something they don't want to play so if it gets to that point uninstall and forget about DbD for a while. I've taken a break myself, only very rarely playing survivor with friends.

  • @gunslingers_potatoe said:

I prefer to believe that there is a reason on why they decided to make such an add-on and in fact, the base kit of Leatherface will be drastically improved. If I am wrong on the other side tho, why on the moon would they make an add-on that on the core is the same as ONE OF HIS PERKS. Y'all complained about nurse, but at least she doesn't have an add-on that copies the effect of an already existing perk. Better give Bubba wings, otherwise.... remains to be seen.

Literally half her useable add-ons copy her perks lmao. There's one that makes survivors moan louder while injured after a blink hit, and one that allows you to see auras of survivors healing within a radius after a blink hit.

  • Seeing nurse as "most fun to play against" has made me realise that everyone's forgotten how it feels to play against a really good one.

  • We're never getting good sound in this game so all we can do is put up with it, at least until this next graphical overhaul comes, which is when they might also rework the sounds so that not only are they accurate and sound good, but so they actually exist in the first place.

  • Best chase potential? Nurse, Huntress, Deathslinger, Spirit and Pyramid Head are the top 5.

  • I think the Devs have higher priorities. What those priorities are...I have absolutely no idea...but yeah I think Nurse is very low on the list. Wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to forget about her existence entirely, like Billy and GhostFace.

  • Well never know why they decided to do...whatever it is they did to him but it's honestly made me stop playing killer. I wasn't that great with Billy but he was still one of my favourites to bang out every now and again. Now if I play Billy again I would literally feel sick to my stomach because the FOV and animation is so awful.i already have a bad enough time with the default killer FOV and now it's even worse for the most fun killer in the game.

I like BHVR and all but Jesus Christ this was their worst killer change yet.

  • Like everyone said, killer was probably using stridor and I don't blame them with how busted sounds are. The best part is that survivors will still not make any sounds so stridor isnt even doing its job lmao.

Iron will has been bugged for a really long time though. It's not supposed to reduce your breathing sounds to 0 but it does, and God knows how long it's been like that for.

  • I don't get what you're asking here. Both are absolutely different, and one is miles ahead of the other in terms of strength. You can see wraith at all times unless he's standing still, but when spirit's using her power, the only thing you can see is her model which is completely still, while she's moving directly towards you at Mach speed. They're both very simple killers too, honestly Wraith is one of if not the best starting killer for new players, and Spirit is good for practicing to rely on sounds

its not about freedom, its about balance.. open your eyes

This wouldn't balance SWFs at ALL though. In fact it would do absolutely nothing. You can end matches in 5 minutes with a 4-man completely perkless and the killer doesn't even stand a chance. You need to change how the killer works when against a 4-man, not the survivors. Buffs are much more welcome than nerfs anyway, I'm sick to death of people crying for nerfs when they could be crying for buffs and big changes instead.

Today I had a survivor unhook right in front of my face. My chainsaw connected with them but didn't down them and it cost me the game bcuz BT/DS/Unbreakable.

Absolutely not fun that Billy has this awful bug.

The new hotfix that came out today apparently fixes some chainsaw detection issues with Billy. Then again this isn't the first time that they said they fixed his chainsaw hit detection so I wouldn't get your hopes up for it being fixed :(

I use shadowborn to compensate for his FoV. But still, i'll not play him until they fix the bugs, just like nurse

Shadowborn helps but not enough imo. I just want my old chainsaw boi back. I wanna actually play Billy without getting even more of a headache than I already do playing other killers without Shadowborn.

  • How about we don't remove freedom of choice from survivors just because they want to play with their friends? The sweaty SWF groups aren't even much of a problem, you rarely see them. It's not like you're expected to win against them, just move on from it.

Also you definitely are salty. The only thing that would compel you to make a post like this is you recently played a match where you either were against a sweat squad or you simply got stomped by 4 good survivors.

  • That rule hasn't been enforced in God knows how long. Matchmaking now ceases to exist. They talked about implementing an MMR system a while ago, and....somehow....making it work in DbD. And the Devs have also said that it's gonna be coming soon so...I'd estimate that it's coming in about 12 months.

  • @snick said:

They should just get rid of perk tiers since their are so many perks in the game now

Is that a good and logical idea? Get that outta here, BHVR doesn't want to see those!

  • It actually always worked like this. The description of the perk said that bonuses don't exceed 100% but they did. I guess it was too hard to code it correctly so they just removed that sentence from the description instead lmao.

  • With his new bugs and really bad FOV, I see Billies miss more chainsaws than ever, and we've had to put up with these bugs for, what, 3 months now? Even with that, playing as addonless Billy can be pretty difficult because he's not amazing without add-ons unless you have something else that can help you. Using engravings and charge add-ons turns him into a completely different killer. Curving without add-ons is really hard to do well so don't worry if you're not able to get it consistently, it can take a lot of practice, and sometimes just plain luck that the survivor is in the right place.

1 … 42 43 44 45 46 … 63
