  • You can report this. Working with the killer isn't allowed.

    Hitting survivors requires chasing.

Not saying its easy. It depends on the skill of the survivors. If we are talking low ranks then yeah it's probably impossible.

In a tight 3-gen setup that has already lasted half an hour people will stay on the gen for too long and you can get a hit in with no more than a 5 second chase.

Overcharge would require kicking a gen which takes away time. Even if you miss it the time it takes to recover isn't that much. The more time the Doctor waste breaking your gen the closer the other one is to completion. It's a matter of attrition. Gen pressure can exceed his map pressure if done correctly.

If you don't chase at all, using Brutal Strength makes gen-kicking very fast. And then you can shock the other 2 gens immediately after with the insane range. Everyone will spend so much time in madness tier 3 and fail so many skillchecks I believe this is sustainable. Especially if you also hit people and force them to heal on top of snapping out of it.

A slow rotation of the left analog stick and a slow steady press of x while in struggle is all that is needed. If you are destroying controllers then perhaps lay off caffeine a little?

Not true, I tested it in KYF and as a killer I can definitely feel the difference between someone wiggling slowly or rotating the stick faster. Also, if you press the button slowly while struggling it only takes a single "miss" of timing and you're insta-dead on the hook.

Keyboards are more robust than controllers, not to mention cheaper, they should've thought this through.

That's a bit harder to deal with. Basically have to take turns repairing while one snaps out of it. Not going to be the most enjoyable gen repair ever.

But hey, the live balance Dev found Doctor to be annoying so the rework should fix all that.

Even if you take turns I think a doctor with overcharge, distressing, unnerving presence, brutal strength and the 2 range addons will make it impossible to win if the gens are close enough. The shock distance is actually quite a lot, potentially enough to shock 2 gens at once and he never has to leave treatment mode lol. Anyone who snaps out of it will be back in madness tier 3 in no time and if you stay on the gen he can just grab and drop you.

Could replace Brutal Strength with the Huntress Lullaby although it is a hex totem. Or if you have Ruin and it's near your 3-gen setup it's gg.

It's probably gonna be backwards compatible rather then actually released on the series X and ps5

But will it be 60FPS? That's the question. If not then why would next-gen console players stick around?

While they're at it, they should change the wiggling and struggling mechanic so it doesn't physically destroy a game controller every couple hundred hours of gameplay. The X button on my PS4 controller is already broken due to smashing it over and over. and the left thumbstick is having a hard time.

  • Balance? Nah, more content!

They're digging their own grave by adding so much content before properly balancing the game. Sadly this is a recurring pattern because balancing the game doesn't earn them money.. these chapters do. And when the game dies out they just move on to something else. It's a proper business model nowadays.

Chances are DBD will stay alive for 5 more years, unbalanced, with more and more content added. Although I do wonder if they intend to release the game on next gen consoles.

  • They should rework Hawkins. By pressing delete. Then make a Mirkwood map for the Stranger Things chapter.

  • If you are lucky with gen placement, and you have a meme doctor build with 125% extra shock range, you can hold down all the gens forever.

This is pure theory but it would be funny.

  • As a survivor I haven't been given the hatch once in like 200 hours of surviving. Soooo...

Happened to a friend of mine once while we were playing.

  • Trapper is only good with addons. Bag + bloody coil usually works well for me, I hate survivors messing with my traps. And secretly I hope someone will disarm a trap, get injured, then spend 30 seconds self caring while I reset the trap lol.

  • Why would anyone edit the perk's colours just so they can admire it all by themselves?

  • @oxygen said:

Make sure to check chests if you can, you might get a key which completely screws the 3gen strat over once a single survivor dies. Just do your best to go on a gen and hope the others spread out on the other 2 gens. Obviously "just don't get 3genned 4Head" applies too but if the killer just sits on the tighest cluster of gens from the start that's not always an option.

And if the killer goes out of their way to not even down/hook anyone ever unless they gotta grab someone off a gen, even if the survivor tries to give up, I'm pretty sure I've seen it mentioned that's actually some sort of punishable behavior? There were thread about docs that just indefinitely shocked gens and never hit survivor even if they ran up to a hook and pointed at it, and I think it was mentioned that in extreme circumstances that's actually punishable behavior of some sort?

I disagree. Slugging people and letting them bleed out 1 by 1 very very slowly while protecting your gens is annoying but it is a valid strategy. Hooking gives them time to finish a gen.

  • Nurse cause she's in constant pain. Ash because Ash always defeats evil.

  • This man is a genius. This needs to be implemented.

  • Ghostface ######### me up every time, especially on Autohaven or indoor maps. He's so sneaky I legit get grabbed off gens sometimes. I prefer Premonition over Spine Chill but when facing a stealth killer I regret that decision.

Really don't like going against Pig either.

Myers is less stealthy cause he's 7 feet tall and has to stand out in the open for a while.

His latest nurse video was mostly just him cursing the devs and PRAYING that nurse would function correctly. He DID eventually win though so...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UNYVn_NH6ts

Lol. Now imagine this on console. I had a daily ritual on PS4.. "sacrifice 2 players as The Nurse". Sounds easy enough right? Took me 4 games I kid you not.. waste of my time. Okay I'm bad with her anyway but I've never felt so gimped, survivors would run around making fun of me. Blinking is really awkward with a controller and her god awful movement speed... ugh.

  • When I first played Billy and zoomed across the map I was like "how the hell is this not OP?". Then I got an indoor map and I became an M1 killer. Leatherface is more suited to close quarters. But yeah Billy is fun to play with, I have a lvl 10 Billy with tier 3 BBQ lol. Will be good times.

Also Killer DC even when they definitly had the potential chance to get at least 1-2 kills.

And if survivor DC, many Killer tend to give last guy hatch, which evens this up a but.

I rarely see a killer give someone the hatch. Neither do I. No mercy for those teabagging, flashlight clicking, pallet stunning loopers. Besides, bloodpoints.

  • In a 4v1 or even 3v1 the survivor can win even against a killer that only runs between 3 gens and kicks them, never chases. Regression is actually really slow so eventually you'll pop a gen.

Unless your teammates mess up and get themselves hooked somehow.. Which in some cases can be enough time to complete the gens.

  • @knell said:

If you are a Rank 6 Survivor and Rank 5 Killer, and you are having trouble queuing for BOTH roles, then it's either 1. the geolocation that your matchmaker searches in currently don't have enough players at all or 2. something is wrong with your network setting/your PS4.

The other possibility is something is wrong on the DBD server end, but then it should be affecting a lot more people, not just you.

For most people though, if you are having a long queue time on survivor role but not the killer role, it means that there are too many survivors. If you are having a long queue time on killer role, but not the survivor role, it means that there are too many killers. The optimum number of killers to have at any given time is 20%, or 1 in 5 people.

Actually, games for killers take longer on average than for survivors (because they die early), so you need even more than 20% killers for an optimum ratio.

They have zoomed in. They have red ranks data for all killers. Zooming in any more than that is useless. People depip if they lose, so rank 1 data is extremely skewed, as we saw the first time they released data this year.

The harsh truth is that there's no more data to be had because most people aren't good at this game, even at red ranks. And that's exactly why balancing at a high level is a mistake in DBD.

Can you point me to all that data? I've only seen this chart.

My killer times are long too. So what is that about?

Either you are rank 16-20 or your network settings are bad. As a killer you host the game, if you use a router and don't set it up correctly, many people won't be able to connect to your PS4.

  • Not enough killers. As a killer you will have 0 queue time on PS4.

  • @kreeper124 said:

Hatch closing is needed in the game, otherwise we'd be back to having hatch standoffs for 5-20 minutes. Hell, I remember when the game first came out I was in a hatch standoff for 30 minutes. That's just not fun. With the way it is now, the game ends much faster allowing you to get into another match right away

There are other solutions to avoid a hatch standoff.

I understand the OP's frustration, especially if the 2 exit gates spawn near each other. You just can't win. As soon as the killer spots you he will chase you down and the only way to escape is by standing at the gate for a while. You can trick some bad killers by opening it halfway and hiding but your chances are slim, especially on open maps or against killers like Billy that can race between 2 gates in seconds.

Personally I think a mechanic where the hatch re-opens after 60 seconds could be healthy and slightly less RNG based. But if it's done, the killer shouldn't be penalized for it.

  • Trapper should be B or C tier, he can actually be pretty decent with add-ons. His ability does not suffer from console controllers and their poor character control. Billy should be lower imo, he is harder to play with a controller. I barely see people play Billy.

If the DCs skew data it's in the favor of survivors even. If no matches with DCs are counted, the system only takes into account the games where no survivors DC, aka the games that are going relatively well for survivors in comparison.

So no, there's no possible interpretation of the data that makes survivors look good. I too believe the game is survivor sided at the highest level, but distorting data does nothing to prove your point.

The devs have the context we don't. Are the stats perfect? No. But stop pretending you know more than the devs because you don't.

But what if DCs happen more often in red/purple ranks? And survivors in the other ranks are just worse in general while playing M1 killer isn't that hard, so they get killed more often? Bam, statistical bias.

Global stats mean absolutely nothing, they should do it per rank bracket or something. Zoom in more. And then some more. There could be serious differences in kill rates between ranks, or different platforms, and you wouldn't be able to tell any of that from this data. It's meaningless and balancing your game based on it is a terrible idea.

Looking at how BHVR balances their game and how they actually suck at playing their own game I honestly doubt they know much more than I do. They are a small team and most likely don't have a dedicated data analyst for balancing. They're just winging it.

Depending on how they collect data, there is even a scary possibility that they can't zoom in more and this is all they have.

  • If the killer closes the hatch you have to be really lucky with exit gate distances to escape 1v1, and that sucks. It's rough, and it's RNG. Can be equally frustrating for the killer if they spawn far away and/or it's a slow killer.

But it's better than the hatch standoffs..

Maybe include a mechanic where the hatch reopens after 60 seconds so the killer has to keep an eye on it and the survivor has another chance of getting away. And make it count as a kill for the killer.

On the other hand, one could argue you don't really deserve an escape if you're left 1v1 with a killer. Survivors are only strong as a team.

I have been doing my research on a lot of discussions throughout the forum on how people see Dead by Daylight and what the problems are. I looked at both sides and can sympathize for both arguments.

Gen rushing, infinite’s, unfair advantages, unfair perks, toxicity, camping, tunneling, DC’s, and more.

What I am about to show you is a crazy idea that might solve MOST of these bad cases, and may change the game forever. Criticism is welcome!

What if survivors who are sacrificed don’t actually leave the game? What if they are on temporary sit-out for a little bit, and then brought back into the game?

I know what you are thinking, but let me show how this can work with proper changes.

    • Survivors are hooked and sacrificed like normal. Once sacrificed they are put into a stasis (maybe spectating other survivors) for maybe 30 seconds. Once the 30 seconds is up, they are brought BACK to the game, but are trapped (in a locker maybe), and can only be let out by another survivor.
    • If all survivors are on a hook or in stasis, the match ends and the killer wins.
    • (Random idea, just to spice endgame a bit), when all generators are done, any survivor hooked or killed immediately during this time will die with NO returns regardless if they were hooked or not. NOED plus this = every survivor for themselves, GTFO!!!
    • Mori’s auto kill a survivor into stasis, like sacrificing only quicker. Survivor can still come back and be saved

This would, in a way, solve camping and tunneling (maybe a DC or 2) because the survivor is not out of the game, just sidelined for a little bit until their teammates come for them. Camping would waste killers time, and tunneling would not directly matter.

“Isn't this a little survivor-sided? Survivors will just keep coming back and basically escape regardless.”

My random idea would come into play, but that wouldn’t solve anything directly now would it?

Here is my suggestion to fix that: buffing killers greatly. If they were to be buffed in current way we play, they would be impossible to escape, but since survivors can return, it won’t matter.

    • Killers buffed to where they can apply proper pressure on generators and chases
    • Maybe some perk buffs?
    • Power would still require skill, but can make game go more interesting and not FULLY one-sided. Plus the saving other survivors from whatever purgatory would get them off gens for a little while. And my crazy idea on endgame immediate sacrifice regardless of previously being hooked or not could wary survivors to not finish a gen right in the killers face.

    Pipping system (survivor):

    • Double pip if survivor escapes WITHOUT being sacrificed or killed once (maybe with some emblem system help)
    • At least will pip if they escape (and proper emblem points to make sure they actually worked that win)
    • Safety pip if they die but did much work (maybe a pip depending on HOW MUCH they did)

    Pipping system (killer):

    • Double pip if no survivor escaped
    • Single pip for killing and doing work, applying pressure, etc.
    • Safety if they did ok and maybe hooked a good amount of times

Main thing this plan did not really cover was toxicity and possible gen-rush. I say the buff killers extreme will make a possible fix to generators if you know what you’re doing (and since survivors could return, there really is no FULL consequence). Toxicity...well that’s in every competitive game regardless of how things go, I can’t fix people, just make crazy ideas.

What are your thoughts? Issue I overlooked? Possible change? I would love to see some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism.

It's cute that you think the devs would completely change the gameplay.

This is what we have.. minor tweaks will be made but this is DBD. I can only hope they learn their lesson if they ever make a DBD 2.

The devs already stated multiple times that DCs are NOT taken into account in this data.

So unless we're ready to put our tinfoil hats on and call the devs liars, this is innacurate. Stop spreading misinformation, the forums are already toxic as is.

Considering how bizarrely common DCs are (esp before penalties), they have an impact on this data regardless.

Does it disregard games where someone DCs? Data inaccurate.

Does it still count the games where someone DCs? 3vs1 so killer has a major advantage.

They should hire a data scientist because this chart means absolutely nothing. People are drawing wrong conclusions based upon it, devs included.

  • This chart probably counts DCs as kills as well (the game does), so you can decrease the percentage of everything by 20.

And suddenly killers don't seem so powerful anymore.

  • When you think about it, this game is really dumb. You are running away from a killer using windows and random wooden pallets that you drop on his head. Makes about as much sense as Super Mario.

    FAST VAULTS: 0.075

    MEDIUM VAULTS: 0.135

    Seriously?

Even someone did a video saying "15% vault speed combo op?

As a console player this gameplay is pure insanity to me. The way he flicks his camera around, how he moves.. it's just not possible for us console plebs. Killers have it even worse. I bought the game on the wrong platform.

You know you're supposed to aim with both sticks right? Move your crosshair and position yourself for a shot. I feel like m/kb users always overlook this.

    Huntress can snipe on console.

Lol.. is this real? You can "aim" with WASD too.

Your right stick has gimped aiming. That's the truth. A high-DPI mouse user will throw hatchets better than you.

  • @ppo8820 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/115893/survivor-needs-more

I think they need to nerf killer speeds to that of the huntress. Like you should have to work in a chase to catch a survivor. Right now they catch up so fast and there’s nothing you can do. That’s why it makes everyone so angry.

There are a million things you can do to exploit the killer's weaknesses. Try playing killer once, they have such a narrow FOV it's funny. Someone can crouch in front of you and you won't see it if you're looking straight ahead.

  • @ppo8820 said:

    Okay I ran test. It’s type 2.

  • @ppo8820 said:

Why would I lie about something so stupid? Seriously do better.

Then you should check your NAT settings. As a killer you host the game and this can really mess things up (survivors will see a NAT Type Error when trying to connect to you). It can't be that every killer gets instant lobbies and you don't for no reason, if you're speaking the truth.

Where are you from? Although even that doesn't matter, I get matched with people from other continents quite often.

Not on ps4. My killer wait times are much longer than survivor. Here’s some stats for https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/106566/

    There are two options here:

    1. You're lying
    2. Your NAT settings are incorrect and prevent you from hosting games with most players

I play on PS4 and like the other guy said, I get lobbies before I can even put on addons. 24/7.

  • @ppo8820 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/951777#Comment_951777

That’s not the cause. It’s low survivor players. Most people are playing killer as stats have shown. Why not do a simple google search before you insult someone? That way you won’t look so stupid.

    What stats?

Killers have no queue times. I can play at 4 AM in the morning and get a match in 20 seconds. As a survivor, especially with friends, I have to wait 5-15 mins and pray there aren't any network issues that kill the lobby, meaning the wait starts all oer again. Like OP said it really can take 30 minutes to actually get a match.

  • The wait times are long because there are too many survivors and not enough killers. Why? Because killer is stressful and not fun, compared to the casual survivor gameplay. Why? BHVR.

  • That's what you get for being a whiny survivor. Nerf killers into oblivion, no more games. Oops, people didn't think that one through.

I'm not really sure what your point is with this thread. Devs love survivors too much so there aren't enough people that bother to play killer with you, hence the long queue times.

  • Fire Up can make him pretty fast at doing stuff when multiple gens have popped. Also, NOED.

I've been playing on console since day one. So when some idiot on the forums tells me that a killer I mained for around 2 ######### years is unplayable, I'm gonna call it out. My name is a piss take of Tydes tier list btw.

    ;)

On PC, you can hit players with your hatchets reliably at a further distance than on console, due to artificial sensitivity and pixel skipping. This is a fact, I can't help that you know nothing about how a mouse or a controller actually works.

  • Mice and mice settings are extremely important when it comes to gaming. Bad mouse settings can hold you back from unlocking your true potential. Follow this guide and you will become a 1337 360 no-scope headshot master.

Same applies to controllers. Anything above the default 50% sensitivity in-game, reduces the accuracy and introduces pixel skipping.

    Bye.

  • @Hag.is.Dtier said:

I mained Huntress for 2 years. I already precisely aimed plenty of hatchets. Not my problem if your too lazy to learn a high skill cap character.

You should read up on DPI, sensitivity and pixel skipping. It is objectively true that cranking up the sensitivity on your controller decreases aiming accuracy.

  • This gave me an idea: I want Sigourney Weaver and the Alien!

  • Funny how it's a Doctor perk and he's like the only killer that doesn't benefit from it much, because you generally don't chase in treatment mode. I prefer a "my terror radius is half the map and you can't tell if I'm nearby or far away" build.
