Why the hell are you advocating for a system the punishes people for multiple game-breaking issues if you know it's flawed in the first place?

This ######### should only be in the game after the devs properly fix their own mess. Not before.

Because it's better than having people DC on purpose basically every god damn game. Period. All your arguments are null and void. This had to happen and it's better than the previous situation in every way. Now they can work on improving the DC penalty system but it has to be there, even if flawed. I'm sick of having someone DC almost every game because they were downed by the killer in the first minute or some #########.

I wonder if you realize just how often people DC on purpose. I'm not exaggerating when I say almost every game. It had to stop and guess what: it has stopped, for the most part. Hallelujah.

  • I turned up the contrast/brightness on my monitor and now I laugh at blendettes. Sometimes they'll just sit there thinking I can't see them.. when that happens I pretend to walk past them, then turn at the last second for a surprise smack in the face.

Sadly this has to be done, otherwise P3 blendettes can be nearly invisible on some maps.

  • I love the current Doctor. I love the passive madness and I'm sad to see it go. Sure you can do a shock to get everyone 1 tier up if they are in your terror radius, but it's pretty easy to snap out of that.

His playstyle is going to change significantly and I'm not a fan of that. Literally the only change he needed was a little more default range on his shock blast to cut off loops and he'd be a viable red rank killer.

You can't balance a game if you keep doing complete overhauls, devs. Small tweaks achieve balance.

Except most people are experiencing bugs. Again, the Devs even stated this themselves. It was why the entire test was delayed in the first place, and yet nothing was fixed between the delay and the test going live.

Are you saying the devs themselves are lying about the actual state of the game?

How about the very repeatable bug where you can keep a survivor stuck permanently as Trapper by picking up a trap right as they get stuck on it, keeping them hostage forever until they DC?

Infinite loading screens don't exist? I guess this person literally sitting for 25 minutes just has a very slow computer, right?

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LK5fZNFDmEQ

^ This bug has existed for over 2 years, by the way and still isn't fixed and can happen when matches are loading.

I guess this bugsplat crash that I just randomly got the other day while loading into a match is a myth.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/076/YB5CG1HP8OB5.png

The game's optimization is so poor, that if you freeze for a handful of seconds, you can be kicked out of the match. This is especially prevalent on consoles, which are hardware you can't exactly upgrade, again, like the Switch.

Every PC is built differently. Bugs will happen regardless, but some of them are due to the ineptness of the developers. Again, a system that punishes innocent players is a failure. They already said the main benefit to dedicated servers was that they could tell a DC from a crash which would solve half of the problem the current system has immediately, so I don't know why they don't use one of the main benefits for dedicated servers as they advertised to good use.

Every system punishes innocent people. Any kind of judgement system is flawed like that. Just look at.. idk, the justice system in real life.

There is no perfect solution, but this is 1000x better than no penalties.

  • I have serious doubts about these so-called "innocent" DCs. How often does it happen to you 3-4 times in a row? Come on. I've been playing for a while and I've had maybe 2 legit internet DCs and NEVER a situation where I was glitched out and forced to DC. If your game crashes a lot it could be a driver issue.

I did see a Kate player last week that specifically ran to a certain point on the Springwood map where she slowly started floating into the sky, to deny me the kill. I suspect a lot of the players that get stuck specifically try to min-max their gameplay to the point where things get glitchy.

95% of the DCs I see in-game happen at crucial moments too, like exactly when a survivor gets slugged. I don't buy this coincidence crap. And because 95% of it is intentional, the innocent DCs have to suffer. That's just how it is. Don't blame the devs, blame the people who DC on purpose. Penalties are a must.

  • Great, I decide to become a Doctor main and this happens lol. The passive madness works wonders on finding people around you. If they remove that they should buff the shock ability to the point where it puts someone in Madness stage 3 immediately. But even then it'll be weaker than the passive madness because someone will snap the survivor out of it.

Removing the passive madness is a huge buff to SWF vs Doc. Exactly what we need.. not. I don't understand the overhaul either. Change small things to balance them.. if you take huge leaps you'll never balance anything.

What's up with all the significant killer nerfs while survivors remain mostly untouched?

  • @gantes said:

You don't have to camp with her. That's the absolute LAST thing you should be doing.

Your traps do that for you.

I'm a Hag main. You need make your choice and traps near the hook. The rescuer will NEED to crouch walk. You'll have plenty of time to return to the hook and get an easy down.

    She snowballs like crazy.

BBQ+Corrupt Intervention+STBFL+Make Your Choice is my build. Swap STBFL for Franklins in case of flashlights. She's absolutely terrifying. Her early game is weak but once you get momentum and establish dominance over a part of the map, the game is pretty much yours.

I have to stay near my traps or they are useless. On small maps she has map pressure but what about large open maps like Swamp? Survivors literally run circles around you laughing cause there are barely any choke points and you can't move too far away from your traps.

  • So basically another killer I hate that I have to grind to get the teachable Ruin perk.

Why is it that the worst killers have the best perks and the best killers require perks from others? Meh.

I don't see how she has map pressure, considering the very limited distance she can teleport to her traps. Your best chance seems to be a 3-gen strategy, preferably near the basement. Otherwise gg.

Why would I want to play Hag when I can play Freddy, for example.

  • @The_Second_Coming said:

    TL:DR - This isn't a good Hag player.

Tell me how to play her then. I've searched and basically everyone says she's a camping killer.

Literally all she has is M1 and teleports to triggered traps. #########, I would trade the traps for 115% mov speed.

I loathe that build. It's one of the few killer styles that I will agree is OP. I figure if I'm going to be a jerk, I might as well have fun with it. Had a fun game as nurse last night. Went stridor, NOED, insidious, and save the best for last. 4 toolboxes in the game, so I knew gen rush was coming. I played normal, till the last gen was about to pop, then I blinked behind the exit door, and hoped they came to that one. They did.

Downed all 4, two crawled to safety. It was most amusing from my point of view. They were salty.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XwUgG0NNkU4

Blinking behind the exit door.. interesting! Could be fun if you run Insidious as well. Surprise #########!

I only facecamp with Bubba if I see toxic behavior in-game. I can play nasty too.

Except that doesn't work if the killer DCs, everyone is kicked because they aren't connected to them any more.

Survivors DC 10 times more often than killers. If not more. I've had a killer DC maybe 1 in 50 games whereas a survivor DCs every other game. There's not much incentive for a killer to DC especially because killer add-ons are often much more valuable than survivor tools.

  • Step 1: Play Bubba

    Step 2: Hook 1 survivor

Step 3: Facecamp and watch the chaos unfold. SWF don't know how to deal with this.

Usually results in a 2K. Sometimes more if they're bad but in that case they always DC and send salty messages. I wish I could hear their voicechat when this happens.

There's no real reason not to have a reconnect now that there's dedicated servers.

You could implement a reconnect feature with the killer as a host too. Makes no difference.

  • @ArksnaVixone said:

I took a break because this game just dont want to give me a match (Survivor Ps4) and when i play killer the game is literally done in 5 min because of the gen rush, SWF, bugs in both sides, bad map design, weaker killers... Its really sad that the devs dont support their game at all.

This is why killers need some love. Survivors can't get matches because nobody wants to play killer. As a rank 16 killer you will often meet a full team of green rank survivors too, so much fun! All the whining survivors didn't realize they were killing their own game.

  • @BeanieBoyBob said:

I remember a long time ago that devs wanted to plan on a 'husk' being left behind in a game. I reckon that they could do it now that they have servers if they wanted to (much like in LoL, Dota, CS:GO, etc).

You don't need dedicated servers to implement a husk. It can be done with the killer as a host as well. Unless the killer DCs but honestly I've almost never seen that happen, whereas every other game at least 1 survivor ends up DCing.

  • People exploit DCs, that's why we can't have nice things. The game doesn't know if your game crashed or if you killed the process. It has to treat every DC the same. And DC penalties are desperately needed.

  • @Nutty_Professor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/927385#Comment_927385

You don't need voice comms to know if the killer isn't chasing you, you need to be on a generator. I've lost count the amount of times I've been mistaken for SWF when it was just four solo survivors.

Yes the majority of the friends I play with are more casual, so I don't play as competitive as I do solo. I've played in a group of 4 SWF where the other three survivors are really good. In my opinion those games would have ended the same regardless if we had comms or not. You don't needs comms to play optimally.

SWF are pretty easy to spot since they all appear in the lobby at the same time.. lol. That almost never happens with randoms.

  • If you play better solo than SWF that just means your SWF group doesn't coordinate well. It's the coordinated SWF groups that completely overpower killers.

  • @twistedmonkey said:

A lot of players don't care about rank as it means nothing once you have done it for the achievement.

You used to lose two pips but it was so easy to derank so they changed it to one.

The real reason people dc is just because they can as right now without doing it a help of a lot it doesn't affect them.

So why do they DC? They sacrifice their own bloodpoints so the killer gets less? I don't get it.

A standard 30 minute temp ban for every DC should fix it. After all, you should be sorting out your "internet issues" right?

This has to be the smartest thing i have read in this thread

It also has nothing to do with the game. Also, last time I checked, prey animals couldn't see around corners or over walls.

  • "I'm gonna keep this short" lol.

Do not touch Moris until SWF are finally balanced.

  • @KillermainBTWm8 said:

I think Fibi explained quite well why this wouldn't work. Messing with survivors 3rd person view will just end the game with every survivor going down in 5 seconds and gen grabs would be a guarantee ect. Basically it wouldn't even be fun to play as killer due to how easy it would be to catch survivors.

Decreasing the survivor's FOV in 3rd person works for me too. SWF basically have full map visibility at the moment which is not okay, not to mention crouching around a tree to avoid the killer because you can see him and where he goes but he can't see you.

  • What's up with the Spine Chill love?

Premonition lets you locate the killer before he sees you and it tells you what direction he is coming from.

  • Trapper's traps can be disarmed by anyone. Hag's traps.. only with a flashlight. That's the problem. I assure you Trapper is nowhere near as strong as the Hag in a 1v1. Sure, you will get a notification your trap has been disarmed but the survivor gets a chance to run off.

Trapper also spends precious time picking up a trap to place at an exit gate if he doesn't carry any. This can be enough time for a survivor to open the gate.

  • The only problem I have with the Hag is that she can place a trap at the exit gate switch and unless you have a flashlight there is literally NOTHING you can do. You can crouch over it but when you stand up to open the gate the trap goes off, gg. She is 100% impossible to win against if you're the last person left and the hatch has closed. No other killer has that strength.

When you play against an SWF team, they become very predictable.

If someone is good at looping, you know who to avoid. If someone is altruistic, you know what to do when someone is on the ground or on a hook.

Sure they can be frustrating and bs to go up against, but sometimes the game needs an extra layer of challenge. And SWF provides that in spades.

The only predictable thing is altruism. Even with the gates open and the killer facecamping a hooked survivor, they will try to save the survivor. This is why I love Bubba. Speaking of.. there should be an option to change killers in the lobby, just like survivors can change characters.

They will also, always, teabag you and specifically wait 1-2 minutes at the exit gates for you to appear just so they can do this. This is why I go afk and laugh at how stupid they must look, controllers in hand, headset on, talking about how they want to teabag me but I'm not showing up.

I have 10 minute ques as a killer. My ques as a survivor are usually around 3 minutes long...

What platform do you play on? On PS4, there are practically no queue times as a killer, and there is a desperate shortage of red rank killers. As a green killer you will face red survivors most of the time. As a red survivor you will queue forever. I've cooked entire meals while queuing with 3 friends..

  • @DelsKibara said:

SWFs are a part of the game and it's something every killer has to deal with.

I personally play with an SWF group myself even though I sometimes enjoy solo survivor. Going up against an SWF shouldn't be too much of a problem, since most of them are overly altruistic and trusts way too much in their teammates to do things competently. You can exploit that to your favour as a killer.

Exploit it? You mean facecamping to get 1-2 sacrifices, then going AFK for the remainder of the endgame collapse while the rest of the survivors waste time at the exit gates just because they want to teabag you? Sometimes that's all a green killer can do against a group of red survivors.

"I wrote that earlier in this thread but apparently my posts are being moderated now? Requires approval of a mod before being visible. Too much criticism I guess, we can't have that now can we" I'm pretty sure it is some sort of anti-spam filter for new forum members not the devs colluding against you.

I don't see your point either while killers may need some buffs for SWF. Killers aren't quitting the game over it. If that was the case there wouldn't be any killer players at this point.

KIller queue times are almost instant, SWF queue times take forever, between 5-30 minutes. Considering it's 4 survivors vs 1 killer, you can conclude less than 1/5 people play killer. If you look at the difference in queue times you can conclude it's considerably less than 1/5.

Killers need some love or there won't be any left, and that's when the game dies. Nobody wants to queue for an hour.

  • @KillermainBTWm8 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/924052#Comment_924052

I guess that is a good idea if you want to kill the game.

No killers, no game. There are almost no killers in the red ranks, so red rank survivors get paired with green rank killers regularly, disgusting. And when they do run into a red rank killer and get their asses kicked, they cry NERF!

Soon, survivors can have fun repairing gens and escaping without a killer in the game lol. The devs give survivors way too much love.

I wrote that earlier in this thread but apparently my posts are being moderated now? Requires approval of a mod before being visible. Too much criticism I guess, we can't have that now can we.

If I see an obvious coordinated SWF group in the lobby I just leave, they are toxic 9/10 times. As a killer I can get another lobby in 30 sec anyway. Enjoy your 30 minute queue times boys. And keep crying about killers, soon there won't be any left.

  • Map offerings really shouldn't be a thing. It heavily favors SWF groups and I don't see the issue with random maps. Although I wonder if they are truly random.. some maps I almost never see.

  • @BasedMorlis said:

    "SWF is so broken!!!"

Y'all do realize they removed it for all of 2 weeks and almost no one played as a survivor, right? They've tried this. What they should implement is a "KWF" with 2 killers and 8 survivors with twice as many gens needed to be turned on. Not only will you be able to coordinate with others as killers, but you can combo killers together, like Michael Myers and Hillbilly. Michael Myers can lighthouse to spot killers and with Hillbilly's ability to cross maps like crazy, it would be dope. Stop asking for them to remove options and start asking for them to ADD MORE!!! I dont understand why people always look to remove things instead of add.

If they don't nerf SWF, the game will die out due to a lack of killers. In fact, there is already a lack of killers. I've been matched with red SWF groups as a green killer too many times to count and it's extremely frustrating.

Now, if I spot a coordinated SWF group in the lobby, I'll just leave the lobby. ######### them. I can get another lobby in 30 seconds anyway because almost nobody wants to play as a killer anymore.

No killers, no game. Survivors are popular enough that they can take some nerfs. Killers are already dying out.

You do lose a pip when you DC or you are supposed too.

DC penalties are in the works and it will be done on a time basis which esculates. They were due to be tested but put off as there are there are issues in the game atm where some need to DC as they get stuck for example. These seem to not give the reasoning back to the game client for DCing so until that is sorted they delayed it so as not to punish for legit reasons.

The husk system should be coming once dedicated servers are working as intended and after the above is implemented so the AFK scenario is in the works.

Basically everything on your list is already in the works they just needs some kinks ironed out.

I don't think you lose a pip when you DC. Otherwise, why would people DC so often at high ranks? It actually happens much less often at the lower ranks. There must be some benefit and while I don't see point of ranks in this game, many players are statwhores.

  • @White_Owl said:

Besides all the balance problems this would cause, you do realize no one wants to look directly into the engine of a generator for minutes?

There are plenty of ways to make the objectives more interesting. Again, this is not an argument to not use FPV.

  • @PrettyFaceKate said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/113074/give-survivors-first-person-view

Ok, then make all killers 100% speed and let them feel the pain yadda yadda yadda.

Nonsense argument. Game is extremely survivor-sided and their ridiculous situational awareness is the main problem.

Even if they keep 3rd person view, the camera should be closer to the character. There's no reason why you should be able to see half the map while hiding behind a rock. Or circling a tree so a killer doesn't even see you while you have full eyes on the killer.

  • @ABannedCat said:

Developers already discussed a husk-system some time ago. Basically the same as you suggest, where when someone disconnects, a husk would stay behind. Allowing everyone else to still interact with the disconnnected players. Hitting, hooking, unhooking, healing, farming protection hits, etc etc.

Unfortunately they suddenly went completely silent about the concept later.

It needs to be combined with deranking and having your character locked until the husk is dead in game. A husk alone isn't good enough, sure it would compensate the killer, but still won't discourage DCing.

  • @SyntheticAesthetic said:

they can't hear me since he's undetectable in nightshroud so it's likely the third person camera or spine chill (but spine chill isn't a perk people run that often so I doubt it's that) and the sound that is them working on gens masks any subtles sounds I make. They don't hear me so it's just a theory since I don't play survivor much.

Premonition also works great vs stealth killers, just look around and when it goes off, chances are the killer is coming to your gen.. EZ wallhack warning. But not many people run it.

  • @SyntheticAesthetic said:

make it necessary, since it's annoying they get this huge FOV and have to find 1 killer to avoid where as killer FOV is smaller and you have to find many targets. As a ghostface main I theorize that sometimes survivors leave gens they're working on when I get close is cause they can somehow see me despite their character model looking down at the gen.

Stop theorizing, that is exactly what happens. They either sprint away or walk and hide nearby when they see you coming or hear a heartbeat. You can walk around to try and find them but they can dodge you easily because they can see around corners. Thick trees usually do the job.. And you don't have time to run around every tree 3 times.

  • Facecamping is perfectly fine in the face of toxic behavior. If you're obviously being a dick to me, I tunnel and facecamp you until you die.

Had a guy in a SWF group equip a flashlight 6 seconds before the match started yesterday, obviously doing it to prevent me from picking Franklin's Demise. I facecamped him to death, then went AFK to get a snack and a drink while the remaining 3 survivors were wasting time at the exit gates until the endgame collapse, just because they wanted to teabag me rofl.

  • Trapper, but I'm scared of the generators exploding.

  • No issues with Bloodlust framedrops on PS4? I did hear the game runs worse on Xbox.

  • On PS4 you can report all toxic messages. Even someone calling you a noob will earn them a warning. After enough warnings they get a chat ban and if it continues a Playstation Network ban which cannot be appealed (they lose all their games! Think about that for a moment).

I report all toxic behavior and take pleasure in it. And yeah, it's always the survivors. I've never ever received a toxic message from a killer.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Why not give him all Traps and increase the number of total Traps by using Bag Add-Ons? Like 5 Traps default, +1 for the Common Bag, +2 for the uncommen Bag and +3 for the Stitched Bag.

He would still need to travel a lot of Distance to place them, but he is not picking up his power for the first two minutes of them. Let alone that this is sometimes not even an option (e.g. Maps like Suffocation Pit-->Guarding one side to force a 3-Gen or travel the whole Map for a Trap, which might allow the Survivors to remove the Option to 3-Gen).

Because that would be too big of a change and survivors would cry themselves to death.

    But I agree..

  • SWF should give the killer 25% extra bloodpoints for each survivor that is grouped, for a max of 100% extra BP for a full 4-man group. SWF games do need to count as ranked, otherwise you will have a bunch of pro rank 20 SWF groups bullying killers.

My main strategy for dealing with coordinated SWF groups is to camp the ######### out of the first person I hook (preferably the guy with the OP flashlight so he loses it). They will try to save that person rather than doing gens, except I won't let them. Usually ends in a 2-3k match, a result I'm happy with against a group of 4, and a ton of salt afterwards.

  • How about buffing his speed while charging the chainsaw to 100%, instead of actually being slower than a survivor.
