  • The others have really good suggestions and stuff. Aside from the necessary add-ons (that were mentioned.) . Like permanent t3 (Judith's Tombstone and Fragrant Tuft of Hair,) at lower ranks this achievement was actually incredibly easy to do. The perks didn't really matter too much. So if you are trying and failing or deranking cause of it, don't stress out too much. Just keep on trying. You will get it eventually! Good luck to you! :)

  • I mean. Does it matter what people say? Everyone has their own opinion and that's okay. In reality both sides usually end up making some mistakes, sometimes more or less than the other and the consequences of those are either winning or losing. But I agree with what @Weck said.

  • I don't really care about noed or which killer has it. I think saying it's overpowered is a bit strong. Because there is a counter that takes it completely out of the game. Especially if survivors are running inner strength.

  • I mean it's definitely nice to see more variety of stuff in the game.

  • I remember one hitting someone at the gates and didn't actually mean too, I forgot I had noed on and they didn't cleanse. lol

    Good laughs ^_^

  • I thought they planned on removing ranks so you won't know you'll be facing them. But at least you won't get as punished I thought also?

Anyways. I know how frustrating this is though. Just gotta have hope I guess. Sorry.

  • I can't see the video... if anyone cares to do a short summary I'd appreciate it. But if it's similar to this https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/129749/dced-by-the-game-yet-i-still-got-a-5-minute-ban

And also I was thinking about how intentional DC's and unintentional dc's one has a special noise to tell you the difference..... There are people being disconnected and receiving the penalty, and not clicking leave, and also not losing internet (as they are streaming like the direct forum link above.) So, the system is not perfect in any means.

  • As far as hook suicides go. You have to actively hit the button repeatedly. Tapping it. If your keyboard doesn't register the tap, maybe your keyboard decides to finally break after playing hours of DBD, or if you literally tap it too fast, or if you tap it too slow, boom you are gone.

Yes, people do it intentionally, but there are also others that aren't actually doing it intentionally. (Some people thought they were on first hook, did not realize until too late.. Some people - new players, don't understand the mechanic when they played, and wonder why they keep dying on second hook until they find out etc. Stuff happens.)

I am aware people do it intentionally to move on to the next game, I simply want point out that this does happen also. And it is something else to consider. - Until the dev's change this feature, which they have said before but have now seem to gone silent on.

  • Good idea. I wouldn't mind it in the esc menu.

I also would love if it stopped blocking my screen like a pop-up from hell while I am trying to navigate, which makes me want to get adblock in game.

  • So, I guess I know of 3 streamers that are no longer FW. But you may not want to namedrop? I'm not sure if that counts as something against the rules. Or may risk the thread getting removed.

  • I only know 2 streamers that have lost their Fog Whisperer status, but BE has not made anything public or anything showing this. It appears looking at it it was done hush hush. I assume perhaps to not get backlash or have issues rise from it.

  • I'm confused. Are you referring particularly to one streamer? But think they should remove it entirely?

  • If you took away the ability to let go, then the last survivor (if there are 2 left and one is on hook) then the last survivor would most likely die and not get the hatch, as it won't open until they let go, and it doesn't open instantly as is. It takes quite some time for it to finally open after the 2nd to last dies.

Also, I think people would legit just afk and watch twitch. Like alt tab. You can't force people to change, you have to make them want to. Give them a reason to stay in a game that they feel is "over". That will make the change you're after. In my opinion.

the gameplay was from my friend. He uploaded it to show me and use it in his support ticket report, then I asked him if I could edit it myself to show it in the forums. Yep the edit is mine but I have to confess that it's a bit poorly made xd. Anyways, thanks for the apreciation :)

btw any way of hacking in dbd is a direct perma-ban

Poor?!?! I actually loved it. I mean it was quite captivating and really showed the points well etc. :) You could sell your editing services honestly. :D

Perma ban is nice to hear. I know some though were given second chances tho.

  • Well I for one appreciate your post. (Sorry that other guy was on your case holy cow). And I love the footage and editing, if that was you, you are really great at it! Holy crap. Anyways. It's nice to see these because the truth is, it does exist and for people that don't stream or can't record it, you can't really do anything, it seems.

I'd like to think that if TONS of people are reporting one individual and they are like hey this dudes hacking etc. That the dev's look at it and be like well we don't have footage but we need to definitely investigate this person or put him on some watch list idk. I like to hope at least. I know of a twitch streamer that plays PC and he was running into the same hacker repeatedly.... so ... idk ..

I also don't know how long their ban is. Is it actually permanent? I don't know.. lots of questions. Not really sure what the dev's are doing about this.

  • Yes. Sadly if the game kicks you, it's still just "your fault". What they need is an option to allow you to reconnect to the game, that would be ideal for those that didn't want to leave in the first place. (game crashes etc.)

Perhaps the penalty can just last as long as the match is going on for? And add up that way for continuous issues. Just a thought.

  • This thread seems to be proving OP's point on the community that exists...

Also, I never understood the whole argument of when someone says there's an issue.... it's like 'well why fix it' (even though it exists, clearly)? There's worse issues in OTHER games.... why focus on this one that is relevant to this game we are currently in the forums for?

Anyways. I believe people need to want to change themselves. If you can change your behavior and your own thought process and be more positive etc, that could infect others. Maybe slowly. But it can happen. And if anything at least you become a better person and feel better over all. Because you can't control others. But you can control yourself and you can control how you view others actions and how you let them effect you.

Obviously it’s toxic and not fun, I did it because I wanted to see if people would dc knowing a penalty system is coming soon

So... You were intentionally trying to be toxic and make the game un-enjoyable for others, in order to get people to DC? The "threat" of a penalty is not going to stop people, as learned. So, I'm not really sure what you were trying to "test" here... If you play toxic, people will respond by either DC still, or alt-tab watch twitch or something.

What the game needs, is a simple surrender feature. All 4 slugged... all 4 vote to move on. Game ends, points distributed, everyone's happy. Same for killer if they want to leave and give up on the match. (In another game a certain period of time must have passed for this to be open to do for the killer. And survivors must ALL be incapacitated for it to work on their end as well). There's no sense "dragging" games out some games, and people feel that.

  • The above seems correct, just slugging is not being held hostage apparently. Which does suck that the first DC is punished (as harsh as it is) because it could be a true being held hostage type DC or actually a "legit" dc...... which just begs the question why is the button even in the game, but I digress...

However. If it's griefing you can supposedly report it, but it won't matter, in my opinion. I recently had some run ins with both griefing killers/teammates.... "Fun gaming experience".. If they were also sandbagging or working with the killer that is also "reportable"... Anyways. It really only matters if you can record it as well. You'd have to report in game and then send them video proof additionally in a support ticket. For them to maybe do something about it. And if they do they will simply tell you that it will get "looked into" so you won't really know if they had gotten punished. But it's something? I guess.

Hate to say it but a suggestion for the future though, you can find something to alt-tab to and just focus on that instead. At least that is my plan. Take care.

Most matches I've come across, my own survivor teammates super toxic to the killer, who didn't do anything wrong in my eyes. This one trapper, he was doing his killer thing. At the end of the game suffered teabagging and plenty of abuse in game chat. Why? All because he used Franklin's.. and because he used Franklin's, they lost their purple med-kit and purple toolboxes (maybe SWF?).. and they decided his mother should get ill.

Quite disturbing. Sure "it's the internet" or "don't be a snowflake", that's not an excuse, if you think it is, then you're part of the problem. It's pretty sad. I try my best to be nice to everyone, killer and survivor alike. But even I sometimes fall for killers or toxic teammates winding me up. If only everyone actually actively tried to be 'better'.

I'm expecting this post to get responses just as negative and miserable as the game chat lol. But who knows, maybe there are DBD players out there that agree with me. Anyway, just thought I'd share my thoughts. Feel free to ignore.

I notice this too. And it sucks. It really sucks when people can't be civil or decent to one another. Especially recently, I had a string of bad luck games. Griefing and bodyblocking by survivor teammates, along with killer. And knowing nothing is actually going to get done about it either, with only having the hope that I wont meet them again... I had both killer and survivor working together.... tbags and bleedout +pickups to not let die... Just crazy. And then you have the after chat. A mix of just everyone yelling at each other and insults galore. Killers mad at survivors. Survivors mad at killer and/or teammates as well even. No one is safe from the venom that comes. And nothing will get done about the chat either. Why? Cause just close chat! "EZ fix". Instead of oh say... not hurling insults at each other, perhaps making certain words especially get censored automatically.... they have this in many games... No idea why not here. I.e. *types insulting word* *hits enter* * games says no! doesn't post it. * etc.

Would be nice if we could simply just enjoy the game and have fun... Laughing together, making lighthearted jokes etc. Making friends even. Those kinds of games have become a rarity for me. I mostly look at the chat and shake my head. I can't believe people get so worked up and take certain things so personally. And you know what? They take it so personally, they stalk you. And this game lets them. They stalk your profile be it steam or find you on console and chat with you directly, to just tell you how they "really" feel about the game. And that's apparently okay as well. Because it's not directly within the game. Even though their entire access to you, is from the game. You get "stream-snipers" that are allowed, and people that literally see your name or profile and know it's you (Time to bring a mori!) and harass you on a daily basis.... it's crazy.

Then you come and voice your concerns and discontent over this negativity and you get as you say, the "snowflake" responses and you are "just being sensitive" attitude. Like that isn't at all what it's about. And I completely agree with your "then you're part of the problem". It's so true.

Like everyone get's worked up. Everyone makes mistakes and has bad days. Why not encourage players to do better and support each other instead of hurling around hate and malicious acts towards them. People get down, why not lift them up? There's no reason to kick someone while they are down.

"If only everyone actually actively tried to be 'better'." I really hope for this some day. I'm glad you voiced your thoughts. There are people here like you say, but there are also nice, reasonable people as well, that do want to make the game a better place. To be honest some of my friends are toxic when playing too. It's been a challenge and a lot of lectures, but they are slowly coming around. Usually it is "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

Some people think you can't change other's and if they are "terrible people" they will always be. That's not true. Look at the Grinch :P But seriously. You can't expect anyone to change their ways if you greet them with hostility or insults in return. You just fuel the flames of hatred. Be kind and respect your own self enough to not give into that attitude yourself. If you can't change someone else. At the very least focus on changing your own self and your own attitude. Be more positive and kind, and if all else just say nothing, and move on.

Thank you for posting. It's nice to vent once in awhile. Was a very stressful day. And people don't realize the simplest things. We are all human beings on the other end.

  • Can't say I've noticed a difference on first hook deaths. However, I've personally noticed a lot more griefing/bodyblocking/holding hostage situations from both killers and survivors... oddly enough...

Not the most pleasant experiences, none the less.

I'm not encouraging anything, I just aked the forums if the scenario I was in justified a dc with an explication as to why I dced in the first place

I understand that. But when people are answering you, it could be interpreted that way with what they say, and I am not the mods, it matters what they, think not I. So, just fair warning to all posting here. Be mindful is all.

  • This thread is bordering forum ban. You are not allowed to encourage disconnect. It's apart of the forum rules. I'd link it, but I don't want to receive a ban myself. Here is a quote though:

Please do not encourage negative behavior (e.g. encouraging DCs and griefing, etc.)

So, just be careful what is said here. Just FYI. Take care.

  • Firstly, the anime was way better and I consider that to be the only true deathnote that exists... The movie that "stole" the name wasn't anything special, and I definitely didn't get a "scary" factor from it at all. Sure shinigami aka the monsters look a certain way but they still weren't scary. I kind of consider them more "trickster" types anyways. Plus, I don't see at all how they could fit into this game. I mean they literally write your name down and boom you are perma-dead (poke a stick at it type dead).

I'd rather see an original idea instead.

  • It appears the main reason for some people using them is because they are going to be "nerfed" at some point possibly soon. So, those people want to use them now. Similar to using the syringes/insta heals before they got nerfed etc.

  • Great question. Are less people using it now? Like what are the actual stats now?

Would it make sense if the entity would slow in progress the closer the killer is to the hook with a survivor on it? On another note: if you lose emblems, why not inform the player if they are "in the wrong"?

For the second part. Because that would make sense? I mean it's a great idea. Have a symbol or notification on the killer that, 'hey you need to get out of this area and hunt someone else' etc. That would make sense.. so idk. Would be nice if they implemented that in to the game.

For the first part. I see the entity wanting more death and more brutality if you will. Chasing, hitting, screaming survivors, more hooking, more despair, more misery. Killers just standing afk is displeasing to it. *shrug*

    Edit: For clarity.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

this the same Scotjund that says MMR will never work when he has 0 experience working on asymmetrical games that use MMR but now here he is proposing this idea?

    LOL yeah no.

Careful, your personal bias towards Scott is showing.

I'd actually love to see this looked more into and can even test it first on the PTB.

  • You already lose emblems for face camping. I believe there are perks that slow down hook progression. But they could also make it that the rest of the survivors get a boost to gen repair speed so they can get out even faster while this is happening.

  • If you really want to punish facecamping, just accelerate gen speed repair for survivors (when this happens), so they can finish them even faster and leave. They already have it so you lose emblems for doing it... so shrug.

  • Wow, those are some nice ideas. I like the adding incentives into the game, like the chosen idea. Makes it not so bad being the "first" person found either (which was annoying for new players starting out as well). The start idea with the ominous effect would probably insert more "scary" into the game and creepy factor especially for the killers that need to set up a bit as well. Very interesting.

  • @Fibijean said:

Hook grabs are definitely still a thing. It should work, as long as you do a normal attack and not a lunge, and you are standing behind the survivor you're trying to grab. You don't need to be pixel perfect, but you do need to be somewhat precise, because if you're not right behind them the game will tend to register it as a hit to the hooked survivor rather than the rescuer.

Pretty much this. But also I notice a lot more people getting "false" grabs. Like it was going to register as a grab, but due to dedicated servers now, it does not actually register as a grab and only goes as a hit instead. So, you may be doing it right, but the server lags and it counts it as a hit instead. Just something to be mindful of. I see it a lot when people are trying to get generator grabs, but the game is like NOPE!

I haven't been banned yet, and will not discuss it here if I do.

I'm just trying to get as much info as possible to appeal my ban, if I do get banned.

And I'm still confused as to why there is an option to report DC's if they don't even look at them.

    Ah. That's understandable.

I only found this so far: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1036699#Comment_1036699

Saying basically, you don't report for DC. But I know there were more discussions on it.

I guess I am confused by the duration of the ban. For disconnecting specifically, when they implemented the disconnect timer (For testing), it didn't seem like it would ever be permanent thing. Just have to wait out the timer and you can eventually play again. So, I am not sure how that works out or will.

  • @NoRestarts said:

From what I've read on the game rules subforum, 1st offence is a week long ban.

I'm now facing a week long ban for using an in game option, and the official response I've been given is that I should have came to the forums first and read this post before starting my first match (without any indication from the game or the EULA that I should have done that):

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/19450/game-rules-and-report-system

I'm also still confused on why they don't want you to report DC's, yet have DC's listed as a reportable offence. Where did you see that they disregard reports of DC's?

Yes. This also confused me too. I read they toss them out on this forums, it was a post I think by Peanits. I'll have to look for it and get back to you.

Also, avoid talks about discussing personal bans, or they will remove/lock the post most likely. Forum rule is to not discuss bans etc.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1058978#Comment_1058978

I am even more confused now. Where did you see that they don't want people reporting disconnects?

And if that is the case, why does one of the reasons for reporting a player list disconnects, if they don't want people reporting it?

I'm kind of freaking out because the game gives no indication that if you use an in-game option too much, you get banned.

You have no options for what maps you want to play, or the killers you don't want to play against. I didn't know that you have to put your own fun on hold, and play against maps or killers you despise, so that complete strangers get to have fun.

I'm not sure where or why they think you get banned for using the report feature. But that's not the case or atleast they have not said that anywhere. They merely said that if you report disconnects they toss them away and disregard them, so they just ask you not to report them at all.

The game doesn't really talk about "excessive" dc's. There's just been several posts on the forums talking about that if you disconnect excessively you will get banned - for how long or if it is permanent I am not sure. I think their main argument for having it in game was to avoid getting the game held hostage etc.

  • It's not very clear. And there has been confusion...

"Disconnecting" is not currently bannable. And you are also not supposed to report players in game for disconnecting (they don't look at them and toss them out). However, "excessive disconnecting" is bannable. And will be done with their automatic in-game mechanic that determines whether or not a person is excessively disconnecting or not.

They attempted to implement a ban timer for every time someone disconnects, that kept growing if they kept disconnecting... but they took it away. It was for test purposes.

I think there is a 3 strike rule in game bans(similar to the forums)? But I am not really sure of that either.

  • Did you get merciless?

You are supposed to use only the 3 perks the killer/survivor comes with. (As you did).

People say that you can use add on's and offerings, and it's fine to get the achievement. I always went no add/on's or offerings to be safe.

For survivor all you need to do is escape. And for killer you need to get merciless in the emblem system. (2 pips they say) Which is easier at lower levels to achieve. It used to be you could just 4k and get the achievement, but now with the emblem change you have to make sure you get a certain amount of each category. (Chases, trying to 3 hook everyone etc). So, just getting a 4k does not matter for the achievement. You have to make sure you get "merciless".

Here is a link for more info on the emblem system: https://deadbydaylight.gamepedia.com/Emblems

  • So, I am pretty sure the dev's actually said they were going to remove this, but they haven't gotten around to it yet? (clearly). I'm not sure if they are trying to figure out how (AKA implementing a button to hold down to choose to let go type thing) or maybe ran into some bugs.. I'm not too sure.

It would be nice to get an update on the status of this though. This would be a great change to finally see implemented.

  • @Vetrathene TBH. I think they had planned this quite a bit ago, as it was leaked by the that Leaks site. And everyone went up in arms about them "hiding" stuff which turned into what we know now. I'm not sure if there were less killers at that time or not? I think that would more likely answer this. It definitely does seem like a big difference and wait time currently, I don't know the stats of how many are playing killer or survivor wise though. So, I guess I'm not too sure as for why. I just know whatever the reason, it wasn't last minute planned, so *shrug*. But that does make me wish we could know how many on what side are currently playing/queued etc. Are there stats like that available somewhere? It would be interesting to see.

The challenges are optional, just like buying the DLC they are related to.

I don't understand what you're complaint is. If you want to do the challenges, buy the DLC. Through shards, cells or cash. If you don't want to buy the DLC, don't do the challenges. o.O

Maybe you are confused, because I did not make a complaint.

You can always go back and complete those challenges later. I know I actually had 12 unfinished challenges for the last rift and still managed to complete the rift.

Completing the challenges later on won't help in completing the rift.

That's nice you were able to complete your rift.

  • @LordGlint said:

Thats why they put those challenges off to the side, so you can complete the tome without having to do those challenges.

And for those that *want* to complete all the challenges (which helps in completing the rift, and even doing all challenges, as i recall, wont even get you fully there. etc)... they will have to either BUY or save up... and good luck saving up for all those shards. It's quite a lot.

  • You actually need to buy Doctor AND spirit. As well as jane... so good luck saving all those shards up, casually.

  • Uhh. Fortnite is free to play game... DBD is not free. I don't understand why DBD and fortnite are being compared.

  • It's extremely expensive and adds up. They also offer no discounts on stuff you already own either. I hope in the future they can be more reasonable on this. Lot of games, including steam, that offer bundles, if you own a part of it, they deduct a portion from the other parts of the bundle etc which makes it reasonable. I.E. You buy a bundle of games, you already own one of the games inside that bundle, they remove that portion off the total price and you buy the bundle with the price of the other games.

I hope they consider this in the future.

There is no mechanic that lets killer close gates at the moment.

Unhooking yourself on first hook is a feature, but for some reason its blocked when you are the last survivior

And I am saying that feature makes sense. Survivors shouldn't try to save "their hook lives" till the end and if they do that's what can happen. You could see, 'hey my teammates are dying and I haven't been hooked or chased, maybe I should distract the killer for a bit so my team can do gens, even If I sit on the hook I can by them time' etc.

Just because it is a feature doesn't mean you should have 24/7 access... It's like unbreakable, you can only use it while slugged not picked up. You take a risk the killer isn't going to pick you up so you can use it. Or just bring it as an in-case. But that doesn't mean 'oh no I died before I got to use it, that's not fair.' Kind of thing.

I see it as you take the risk that you won't be able to use it.

If you really want to hear from a dev, Peanits or some dev actually spoke on why they changed this. And I believe it was summed up to. The game is just over at that point. If I remember correctly. But the exact post is somewhere on the forums. It was quite awhile ago.

  • So, as a survivor if you successfully chased and kited the killer. The killer should be allowed to close the exit doors on you before you can escape? To get another shot at killing you? Because it seems to be the same argument just reversed. If a killer successfully hunts down a survivor and "kills" them, you want the survivor to have another shot. So, shouldn't the killer also get another shot then? In both cases it just doesn't make sense. To me, they had their chance, why ask for another? Same with killer, if the survivor escapes, they escape. There's no extra chances on either side. The game is over.

Edit for clarity: I am talking about the last survivor. No teammates can rescue etc.
