It's pointless because the Killer just camps the last Survivor until they reach stage 2, which the Killer clearly did not do in that video. :P
I think it's pointless due to many reasons.
To me the video clearly shows why last survivor should die if he gets put on the hook (even if it's their first hook). The killer will just down you, again. The only reason he got out was through Decisive Strike, which is going to get reworked (eventually).
Personally. I don't see a reason why the last person should get another chance. They got chased/downed and the killer decided to hook them. End game. Why force the killer to redo the process because you didn't escape the first chance you had?
I think it's good enough we already get second chances when all survivors are on the hooks and the game doesn't end there.

Wow you were blinded even in the end screen.
Seems like another basement bug.

Mostly what others have said. But I recommend left behind perk if you find yourself looking for hatch often. It'll come in handy. Faster you find it, faster you can get out.

no you are actually calling me a liar I'm not stupid I take offense to it
Screenshots can help tech support identify issues sometimes easier then having it described to them. Or see things that others might miss. It's not about belief or not. It's just trying to find and solve the problem. Fibijean is really nice and is just trying to help out! :)

Hiding ranks... *scratches head* now where have I heard that before....
-
Ahem. I guess that is one way to find out if you are facing a SWF....
That's bannable (what he said.) I'm sorry you had to go through that. That wasn't right at all. You played a way that is allowed. And It's a shame people get so upset and can't just move on. Hopefully you reported them in game (Not really sure how PlayStation works to be honest). You can ALSO send in an additional ticket. Maybe it gets looked at sooner? I'm not sure. But definitely report. https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us

I have heard people saying they will skew the results/data because they are so upset with changes or w.e.... On twitter/discord/streams. It apparently is a thing....
Which makes me wonder about the data.., You know I would REALLY love to understand how they get their data. Because we all know people derank. Killers and survivors.
If a killer deranks its just him. Survivors though, even if they all aren't, if one dc or leaves the match right away, this seems to significantly decrease the odds for the others to "win" or succeed in the match... Or survivors just afking or doing badly in the match... It does make me wonder about the data...
I am just confused about the data, because they say they go by the data, but then they give us inaccurate data that we were told not to go by. So, I really am at a loss with this.... I'd love to know more.
-
IF bannable = steam achievement. Then yes.... but seriously no it's not and it is a steam achievement.
-
He makes great points.
And made me think about stuff. Such as, I know there's a netease game out there that offers discount on buying bundles of things you already own, (cosmetics etc). DBD.... nope. No discount you have to pay full price. You spent money on buying every perk of a character and decide to get the character? You have to pay full price. Didn't plan on paying for the character but now they added challenges that are character specific and you want to do the challenges? Still have to pay full price. Outfits? Same thing. You buy one piece of a set you can't get the discount for buying the rest etc. Better hope you didn't misclick! Even steam offers discounts on stuff you already own.. not dbd though. Guess it's the shrine of secrets dirty little secret.
There's some serious blatant issues, I feel are being completely overlooked and unaddressed. I am just sad with how things are at the moment.

Bodyblocking is not bannable, period. It doesn't matter if it's a survivor blocking a killer from getting a hook or a killer blocking a window or a pallet to get a hit. It's all fair game.
What is bannable is holding the game hostage. This can include a killer blocking a survivor in a corner so they cannot leave. It would apply if a survivor managed to block a killer in a corner as well, although that's fairly rare since the killer can hit the survivor.
Short version, bodyblocking is not bannable, holding the game hostage is.
*Please Note the time stamp of this year*

Hooking someone inhibits their gameplay, downing them does, even hitting them does to a degree. This is so funny lmfao.
Hooking someone has a timer (and even a chance of self escape). And is part of the gameplay. Downing and slugging them does the same thing, there is a timer and the dev's stated this is not holding the game hostage either. Hooking and slugging allows for the survivor to eventually leave the game, aka not be held hostage. -
Edit: Also slugging there are perks, like unbreakable and tenacity. They can move around again and possible get right back up. etc.

I was going to ask you the same thing.
If survivors do nothing in a match, the killer can down them, hook them and when they are all sacrificed the match is over.
The survivors did nothing, but by doing nothing did not hold the game hostage.
If a killer does nothing in a match, the survivors can do gens, open the door and leave and then the match is over.
The Killer did nothing, but by doing nothing did not hold the game hostage.
in this scenario the killer is body blocking a single survivor to kill them specifically, other survivors chose to not reward this by not leaving, the killer at that point could have down the person they were body blocking and gone after everyone.
Nothing was stopping the killer from doing just that, so yeah again, both were holding the game hostage and non were.
You can't make an argument against this, your opinion does not matter, this is objective, this is just a fact.
However the killer did do something. He chose to grief a survivor. You can't inhibit someone else's gameplay....
As for doing nothing and basically AFK'ing: From MandyTalk -
"You are free to report AFK killers/survivors - it's not something that I would immediately think is bannable but it certainly isn't playing the game as intended, and yes it would fall under Unsportsmanlike Conduct.
I'm going to say though, you certainly won't be banned for 1 match when you are AFK (it's actually happened to me, got distracted whilst waiting for a lobby and missed the match!) but if it's something that someone is doing consistently, then yes that can be looked at."
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/115799/is-afking-as-the-killer-to-depip-bannable/p2

As far as the survivors go they basically "99" the gates. Or just didn't start EGC.. Which the dev's never said that was holding anyone hostage at all. (Especially in the link I posted earlier). The killer was not the one being held against his will.... The one survivor was trapped and being held against their will...
In the scenario the OP says. IF killer traps one survivor against their will for an extended period. AND the other 3 survivors will not start EGC and leave the game.. who is at fault? The killer is at fault for not hitting the survivor he is bodyblocking. The survivors are not holding the game hostage, due to the killer being able to open it themselves and also forcing the survivors out.
-
I'll be honest I really dislike this Killer Vs Survivor mentality. Why do we have to be in separate groups? We are all humans working together and playing a video game. Trying to make it fun and as fair as an asymmetrical game can be. We are all in this together.
I think we are getting a bit off topic and the OP wants to hear from the dev's. Let's be civil with each other or they will just close the topic all together.
It's okay to disagree, but don't make it personal.
In the end it is the dev's decision on what happens and what rules they want to put in place and enforce. Let's wait and hear back from them.

I would appreciate updated clarifications on situations as the one i'm referring to, but I understand they are super busy. I'm trying to be civil as my next infraction will permaban me from the forums lol and I do enjoy the forums as a whole and heck lol I need to stop looking at the forums and go to sleep 😂
lol. Well that's good. I doubt the Canadians are up this late to answer. Maybe tomorrow.
In the meantime I found a sort of similar thread of 99 gates. If anyone is interested. Peanits replied. https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/121871/adress-99-ing-the-exit-gates/p2
And this
Peanits (regarding slugging though but mentions holding game hostage)-
"It is not. It takes four minutes for the survivor to bleed out, at which point the game ends. We only consider it to be holding the game hostage when there is no possible way for the game to end."

The other 3 survivors had the choice to start EGC.
The wraith also has the option of forcing the EGC and forcing all the survivors out of the game or allowing them to get eaten by the entity, instead he was busy griefing another survivor.....
This has been answered. I will take the dev's post on it which I had posted in the other thread. Someone argued that it is now INVALID due to EGC, however I have not seen a statement made otherwise. Until then I will continue to go with the dev's statements on the matter.
We can all wait on an answer. And hopefully we get one. As long as everyone's civil I don't see why they won't let us know. The dev's are busy, so we have to be patient.

Ok, good to know. And reasonable points. The sandbagging one is interesting. How can it be proved if it’s intentional or accidental?
Good question. Not really sure how you can prove someones intent. I assume they need to start with video evidence or something and from there depending on how it looks and maybe also the persons game hours(?) to base it on/judge + other reports of similar activity. I know a streamer was banned because they recorded themselves doing such actions, and laughing, saying it etc.... it was pretty much intended.. but other than that I don't really know.

I literally posted a screenshot showing that bodyblocking isn't a bannable offence
There are multiple ways to bodyblock.. that says in general "bodyblocking". Body-blocking to hit someone is NOT bannable and you are correct in that sense. Bodyblocking for an extended period etc to grief or whatever else is bannable... Don't get me wrong, I think their rules need to be way better worded and explained. Because of exactly this. People get confused. So, I don't blame anyone for seemingly misinterpreting them. They shouldn't be confusing for people.

@Zixology Please follow those instructions and let us know what happens. Maybe a dev will respond to any "new" rules that may have changed or been amended since changes and updates to the game. That'd be great.

The post you linked was prior to the Endgame Collapse where it was considered taking the game hostage. Since the implementation of EGC this is no longer taking the game hostage and the rules for body blocking have been amended. Post was from 2018, EGC is from 2019.
You still can not trap someone for the entirety of the game. That hasn't changed.

Bodyblocking is bannable when it is used to hold the game hostage or grief, such as blocking a survivor in a corner and sitting there for a long period of time just so they can't play. Or sandbagging, where you intentionally jump in from of someone and block their path so the killer hits them.

It is also similar to buying bundles on steam, if you own some of the game/DLC in the bundle you get a discounted price.
-
Having a trial version isn't unheard of. They let you do this with the nightmare and the shape using splinter items.
The challenges that I saw, expects you to have Jane, The doctor and The spirit.... That's a lot of free shards to earn for a casual-free player. (As they said they expect casual players to be able to complete this).
Also, if I knew how a killer played and liked it, I would then be way more likely to buy it afterwards.
Also, having to buy a character you already bought all their perks in the shrine hits hard..... because that's a lot of wasted shards now. AKA you could have saved a bit more and bought the character instead... But now you have to save all that up again to buy the character itself.....
-
Looking at these results, so far, they are very interesting.
Hag and spirit seem to be at the top. And I think hag is listed perhaps because she can be a known "camper". Camps hooks etc. It can be found very annoying to survivors and to have to deal with.
Sadly tho not all the killers are even listed.
-
I don't know what DBD does or does not do regarding this matter. Allegedly they don't care about it. But if anything Twitch has seems to have more sense about it. You can in fact report this guy to twitch, he admitted to doing it, so it shouldn't be too hard. I imagine streamsnipes can be harder to prove, but actually full on admitting it is another thing. So. You can at least report him there.
It is a competitive advantage over another player, plain and simple. It should not be tolerated. DBD should change things so you can not "easily" stream snipe and also have an anti stream snipe screen (if you will). DBD hates people lobby dodging. People will check profiles on steam all the time and choose to lobby dodge, for people having certain amount of hours etc. Make it so you can't see their names OR profiles until the complete end of the match. Stalking someone shouldn't be so easily accessible from within a game-atleast pre-match.,. Also, allow SWF to be shown at the end match as well. I think these added things will benefit the game and create less frustration over all in players.
-Edited name out: Guess a mod already answered.

As out of context as this is. I must say it does seem like he is joking around.
-
I think long Q times are related to the matchmaking system itself.
-
Nailed the coconut right on the head :)
-
Read only a little and I noticed a post saying that huntress is high tier while also using iri and mori's and added that you thought it was funny when it upset others...... can be considered provocative..
-
So.. This thread is a few months old and got necro'ed and quite a few people got banned, some people were quoting them. This includes the original poster. So, they may not be around any longer to respond is all.. Just a heads up.
-
It wouldn't bother me at all.
What makes this game hard to play is the fact you can't actually play it. The majority of my time spent is waiting in Q and hoping no one leaves the lobby or disconnects. etc. And even the challenges, if you are trying to do them,, "unhook survivor" ... get into match after 30minutes... survivor gets downed... you think OMG I can get my save! *rush over there!* Nope. DC'ed.... Still no husks in game or nothing. None of the bugs that are severe seem to get sorted out. Rank (emblems) itself is (my opinion) a joke. New content that you have to spend out your rear for, just gets pushed down our throats and so much more.. it's ... I mean. I enjoy playing a game that I don't have to deal with the same thing repeatedly. It's always been the same issues for me personally. I went from putting a bunch of money into this game (I actually wanted to give more tbh) and playing for hours/everyday..... to maybe I'll play a few matches a month.. maybe..Before the issues start to bother me or lack of fun kicks in etc. And they lost me as a "coin purse" as well.. Like.. "as if" haha. #NeverAgain #IKnowTheTruthNow /shrug.
Honestly, I am currently addicted to playing another asymmetrical game. They don't have nearly as many bugs, I consider it a polished game. Waiting 5 minutes for a match is the extreme "wait time" there is. Punishments are dealt with swiftly and non-biased *looks around here*. Anyways. They also listen to the playerbase and give out free things to people quite often. Lots of events take place and none of them take month(s) to happen or get delayed etc.
It's been great taking a break from the same ol' broken things day after day and it's kind of a relief tbh.
TLDR: It doesn't bother me anymore one way or the other. The game is extremely well funded due to various avenues they chose to take in acquiring said funds (Honestly I expect them to add more in the future as well)..., so most likely won't be going anywhere. (Especially with the design team.) So, if people were getting upset in the earlier posts... don't worry that much... lol. However, If this game actually "got good" I might change my mind and miss it... a little. o.o Idk.
-
Honestly. I am surprised that the new ruin, doesn't also effect the exit gates and if you are off them or let go, than it slowly drops the percentage of the gate down (as it will for gens). So, the effect would be tied to a perk I guess. You could argue ruin will never last that long, but will the new ruin? I don't know. But just an idea.
-
I would like to clarify that people are not just banned for "insulting" others...
People were banned for "policing the forums".
Making "jokes" -that was non-harmful to anyone else or threatening or insulting etc. Such as accused of making a "bait" thread... it was a joke and they were accused of trying to anger people basically. Things in that nature as well.
Edit: Oh right. And the people that get banned for "going around" the profanity filter, when they type in the word exactly how it is spelled (aka not going around it at all, it's just a forum fail that they didn't add it to the filter). But nope. ban.
So, it's not just "insults"... And it's not that "simple" either.
I'll be honest I see people, many, getting away with insulting others, even when reported and nothing happens. I do tend to notice people being more critical are the ones to get "gone" first.
I also notice "bugs" that occur on these forums. But it seems very convenient... Along with many posts get magically deleted.
It does seem like sometimes "mods" have an agenda... (this is noted when "mods" go back in people's history to "tag" on things for ban reasoning's etc.)
But who moderates, the moderators...
All I know is. From knowing what I know.. I know my time will come.
-
Currently you can rate the match as a "1" star... which seemingly does something? We just don't know what that is ...

People who use hacks, be it wall hacks, speed hacks, whatever. It shouldn't be allowed.
People will lie and pretend hacking isn't a thing that exists in video games but it is, every online game has hackers. I don't record my matches, this isn't my video but here's one sample of proof: https://streamable.com/w58qr
Yea.. So. I actually saw some hackers myself on streams, and the same hackers/cheaters showed up again in different games/days. It does make me wonder. They were reported etc. I don't know if it takes them awhile to sort through reports or what.... but that video is also interesting. Because another "jake" in a different game (different skin tho), also was hacking. He was completely untouchable while doing gens. Hits went straight through him as if he wasn't there, however the gen was getting completed. Completely invincible while opening the exit gate. If he did get hit, he revived himself and was back to full health in a seconds... There was also someone else, that was playing spirit seemingly wallhacking etc. No tracking perks, always knew where everyone was etc. This was longer ago so I don't remember as well, but it was pretty apparent.... I don't know if they are perm-banned or if it it's like a 3 strike rule... It's a lot easier to tell if a survivor is hacking vs a killer... but it definitely exists. Not sure how old the clip is. but I witnessed it about a week or so ago. This does exist.
Technically they should get banned, but I am not sure of the process...
-
Sorry you had to defend yourself so much.
This is really good advice. I appreciate you sharing it. Sounds like fun to try out! Thank you.
-
Identity V actually has this.. On the character Acrobat.
The Acrobat carries 3 different types of Bomb around. When a Bomb explodes, it will temporarily change the ground's surface, creating a circular zone. Hunters stepping into this zone during the Aftereffect period will be affected by its effects, and thus returning the ground immediately to its original state.
Sticky Bomb: Slightly reduces Hunter's Movement Speed. If the Hunter is hit by the exploding Sticky Bomb or if the Hunter is repeatedly affected by its Aftereffects, the Hunter's Movement Speed will be greatly reduced.
Nitro Bomb: Slightly reduces Hunter's Interaction Speed. If the Hunter is hit by the exploding Nitro Bomb or if the Hunter is repeatedly affected by its Aftereffects, the Hunter's Interaction Speed will be greatly reduced.
Fire Bomb: It can burn Hunters and disable all Hunter skills for a period of time. If the Hunter is hit by the exploding Fire Bomb or if the Hunter is repeatedly affected by its Aftereffects, all Hunter skills will be disabled for an extended period.
How to use: Tap on the Skill button to leap forward and throw a Bomb. Hold the Skill button to charge and choose a landing area. However, encountering objects while leaping will cause the Acrobat to fall immediately.
(also these abilities come with drawbacks, like can't use them often or only X amount of times during a game etc). I could see something like this get tweaked and put into a survivor perk. Would need to have some counter or drawback. (What if survivor slowed killer, but later on survivor got slowed or something. couldn't vault/drop pallets...) shrug It's hard to picture it in DBD, in the current state. But it does work in the other game.
-
I was talking about DLC content. If there is a delay, they will tell us about it.
-
I get what you are saying. However, If you are going to compare him to Oni, I'd wait til he hits live and after some time (after people buy him) he most likely will get hit with some nerfs/tweaks. There seems to be a pattern with things getting nerfed later on, at least.
-
I saw people trying to test it on PTB, and got no penalties... so I don't know..
-
Nothing really to "leak"... it's always 2 weeks after PTB..

Well, it ruins the entire match for me personally, not the whole day. Sorry though that some people are able to be sadden by certain acts of toxicity and don't have hearts of stone, like I dunno what else to say.
Experiences with others should be positive. I know there's a lot of negative people out there and it can't be stopped I understand that but there's still absolutely no reason to be toxic. I buy games to enjoy them, not for people to be rude. Everyone should enjoy the game, if they hate the game and the people playing it enough to become toxic enough to tbag and mori spam, they shouldn't be playing either then.
Anyway, the forum thread was basically just me being curious about griefing and what it exactly is because BHVR doesn't elaborate and curious about why I've heard some people getting banned for it but this one person not. Didn't need anyone telling me or others with actual emotion that we shouldn't be playing.
Exactly. The point is not about whether people get upset by it or dislike it. It's literally stated in the rules as its a bannable offense. But it doesn't seem to be explicitly stated or clear.
The dev's say they do not like it... They shouldn't be playing pvp games???
Being that it is in the rules, it isn't a "You" issue. It is an "everyone" issue. And if you do it, as someone already in this thread admits to doing it.., you may or may not eventually get banned. And I suggest you also be interested in finding out the right information to not get banned yourself. But hey to each their own.
I am also curious why some people get banned while others do not.
Getting the actual response that was mailed back would be great. But also, knowing if you sent in video proof or not as well, in the ticket? Because they may only ban with "footage". I don't know. I'm very interested in finding out though.
-
24 hrs? More like check back in a week or two and then see.
(Since when do they get things done that quickly?)
-
If your friend can send you a screenshot of that response, that'd be great. Uhm. but yeah... They seem to hand pick who they want to ban and what they do.... The rules are not very clear, at least to me. Which I think they could improve upon. I also think they could fix a lot of the issues that they "supposedly" ban for.
But yeah, I heard from several people it doesn't actually bug out the timer, the timer still goes. So you could literally stand over watch the person bleed to death, and that is not bannable. But if you mori spam WHILE that happens. Supposedly, that is bannable.
It's confusing. Hope we get some answers.

but thanks for letting me know bc i missed that lol
Well, just to point this out, so you don't miss this part.
, which allows us to better punish people who disconnect excessively
People will still be able to DC as they wish, and can get around punishment as long as it is not considered "excessive". If it is considered "excessive" only then will they get "punishment".
-
@ScottJund Thanks for this. I thought what I saw prior was like photoshopped. Leave it to behavior to mess up hair... again lol. I completely agree though that stuff doesn't seem intentionally. And the fact you have to be RIGHT up close to her shards glow.... makes it kind of useless in a real match. Just to know she is phasing,, will not ruin her power or strength.
Let's say the spirit shows a tell. As survivor, you KNOW she is phasing... But you still don't know where she is going, for all you know she could be going left, right, straight etc. She could literally still stand still to mindgame, in phase... I don't think knowing when she is phasing will break her as a killer.
-
Yea. It has to be "excessive".
Apparently one of the links above talks about the same system Identity V uses, with timers and locking people from playing... so that would be a good change. Hopefully that gets implemented soon.
Edit : Also note, that the link posted talking about this method of punishments is 6months~ old.
-
To answer your question. It's okay, because it is not classified as "excessive".
I hope they reconsider their stance in the future.

Than the Date they purchased the game?
Im only saying this because lots (I say lots because old players leave the game and new ones come in) Killers/Survivors complaining about balancing when they have no idea what it was like at the begining of the game or few patches ago before they voice.
I completely get where you are coming from. But like @coppersly mentioned. Their arguments and what they use to support it will be the best way to tell. Because the forums are here for multiple reasons and one being feedback, and even people that just bought the game that may be frustrated and venting (which would show in lacking information and/or experience etc.), but they are still allowed to share their thoughts. I think there's more people that can be reasoned with, than people may think. Especially when represented with facts and/or logic. Like I wouldn't get mad or annoyed, I'd suggest try to teach them. Debate can be a powerful thing.
-
I don't think having a certain amount of hours validates or invalidates anyone's opinion or feedback on this game, personally. People can choose to share that information or not, I don't think it should be forced or mandatory. At the same time people can also choose to not consider someone else's opinion for whatever reason they wish, such as low playtime etc.
Also, consider the fact that people can or do "pad" their hours. Be it intentional or not by just leaving the game running, but not actually playing. etc. ( I had one of my friends do this, saw him non-stop running DBD for like a week. No idea what was going on there.) So, I don't really think this would be a good "tell" for what you are wanting, to be honest.
My thoughts on it, would be to just take the time and discuss things with the individual that way you can really get to know their view better, and can form an opinion that way. (I.E. What makes you think this? How did you come to form this opinion? etc.)
