Why are killer mains crying when they are still favoured by the kill rate?

Literally had a game against Blight where the first survivor was 3-hooked (technically 4-hooked because of ds) withing the first 2 minutes of the game. Corrupt was still up. Also had several similar games against nurses and spirits during the last couple of days.

But yea, nerf survivors. Gen speed too fast. Circle of healing op...

All killer mains complaining about that while such things exist should play a Solo Q 3 vs 1 at 5 gens all day.

Comments

  • Because now the meta for survivors is smashing gens, healing at double speed and leaving. The meta for killers is committing to one survivor, camping him and try to get 2 more kills and hope they ######### up.

    They completly removed hit and run that was what made the game playable without having to camp to get more than 2 kills.

    It's the only thing we really have. Killer mains on here would have you believe that playing killer is almost impossible and survivors are super OP. Yet, the stats say otherwise. Of course it's not 100% accurate, but surely the stats would show a lower kill rate if the game was that unbalanced... right? Idk. I personally think it's pretty balanced right now (solo's could even use a buff).

    They are completely useless

  • Don't get to obsessed with stats... The Devs have stats for everything and little background on how those stats actually played out

    Like do the Kill Rates included DC rates... I would like to see those numbers

    Do they include Kills gotten by NOED (cause that's a thing)

    Do they include those kills gotten in endgame... I would like to see those numbers

    Do they include Mori's (I think those should be separate)

    If we are to take those Kill Rates seriously then they need to as well... By telling us not to read into the Kill Rates tells me something

    Personal experiences doesn't equal everyone's experiences... but it's a fun experiment to do every so often

  • The kill rate takes into consideration the lower skilled/newer players. Yes, in those rankings killer is great, in fact the killer will likely win most their games. Additionally that’s where a lot of the player base is. However, buff both sides to high skill playing and suddenly the roles change. That’s what makes long term players so upset.

    I find it ironic that you call someone else dishonest, while simultaneously showing your complete bias in the very first paragraph of this post lol.

    I'm a very competent survivor, as are others, and the reality is that if you're solo, it doesn't matter how good you are most of the time.

    He always will have something to whine about and judge others(survivors ) and know he is probably the worst and saltiest killer on earth.

    The Stars at the moment are crap.

    Think about it, you have people who die insta hook or you have Killers who didn't play and stood there afk. There are so many things that you can't take the numbers serious.

    And this shouldn't be a thing about who has it harder. I Main survivor and say a Killer have it pretty wroth against a good survivor.

    The Problem for some of us survivors is this new system. Most try hard to give a good game, but more then once you play with potatoes and you can try your best and lose the game asap.

    For Killer it's the same. You play against those potatoes win some games and then you have to face survivors who should be on your lvl even if you just started and the own you like no tomorrow.

    That's not balanced not in the slightest. The old ranking wasn't that much better, so the question would be what to do. And the right thing would be check the points you got from a game. And balance them with ranks. A good game gives more BPs and you go higher in your rank and and get more out of it. So you can even prevent other stuff survivors and Killers complain about.

    And again # Save_the_pig 😀

  • The kill rate is across all levels of play.

    Low level killer/survivor games VASTLY favor killers. High skill games VASTLY favor survivors. The majority of the casual playerbase is not skilled at this game. Meaning that the kill rate is 53% due to most people in this game playing it casually and not very well. This isn't a hard concept to comprehend.

    Please understand, the kill rate is vastly misrepresented in the numbers. The largest number of those kills come from the lowest rank, solo que survivors. The ones who are too afraid to engage a gen while Bubba is face camping someone in a basement. The ones who slow walk up to a hook while Wraith is uncloaking behind them with a silent bell. Etc, etc. I play both sides. I've started playing much more survivor lately due to how bad high MMR is for killers. No, I don't want easy games, but I do want at least a few non-sweaty games. Where I can feel like I can run something other than meta perks and perhaps a low-tier killer and still have a decent shot at a few hooks. That's not the case with higher MMR.

    Because I ran so little survivor, my MMR was pretty low when I started. I find myself in absolute newbie he$$ and I am struggling to get out. Solo que with 3 survivors who can't seem to get the idea of focusing on gens. None can run the killer for more than 10 seconds. Nearly every match is a 4k.

    That is why the killer's numbers are so high, but the data is not accurate. If they really wanted to take a good look at how killers are doing, they would break it down by MMR and killer. Then we'd see the real data.

  • So your blaming killers for early game survivor mistakes.

  • Because here is the hierarchy:

    1. Survive With Friends
    2. Killers
    3. Solo Survivors

    The bottom two will do the most crying. Plain and simple.

  • There is actually a much simpler answer, regardless of which side you're playing as.

    Kills don't equal fun.

    Escapes don't equal fun.

    A lot of players, as well as a lot of content creators, have stated that the game is in a very unhealthy state right now. Which makes it just not fun to play.

    As killer, 8 out of 10 matches end in a 4k. I've done the math from all my games played in the past month. Yet I'm having the least amount of fun I've ever had playing this game. Even tried taking a break and coming back.

    Between the balance issues, technical and optimization issues, poor repetitive gameplay issues, endless grind with more added to it constantly, it's just all adding up for everyone.

    Killer is 50/50, you either get a full team of potatoes, or they're all pro gamers that make little to no mistakes.

    Solo queue is a horrendous experience. It's usually one or two decent players being teamed up with brand new players or players who are extremely bad. Behavior thinks putting them up against a killer that's between all of their MMR will balance it out. When it actually just makes the match almost impossible for those decent survivors to win.

    Then you have SWFs, where it's just a stomping of killers most matches.

    This game isn't fun right now, which is why a lot of players on both sides are complaining. It sucks, and behavior is more focused on making money than they are actually making their game fun.

    Content doesn't equal fun

    This game can't be balanced around both solo and SWF. And, at this point, it probably should be balanced around SWF.

    That said, those kill stats don't really mean much. You can clearly see why, if you note the 'worst' killer on the list.

    (Hint: under what conditions would Nurse likely be weakest, and Cenobite strongest?).

    Also: Hi Sluzzy.

  • As someone who plays both (roughly 70/30 survivor/killer), I definitely think that Killer has it way harder currently. Between bullying SWF groups. META killer perks that got nerfed, and the fact that killer is always more stressful since you have to be at 100% the whole match (while survivors get to chill on gens most of the match).

    Its because the Escaping is the only factor. You can have the best looper but if he dies he loses. Times iv done insane chases to be left on my first hook to die, even if my team haven't been hooked etc.

    Another thing is with the current win metric, if all killer adapt this playstyle (i thought I was alone with that until recently but it seems to become the norm aka killer resign their kills for fun) then all of us will end where I am aka the bottom of the MMR (i get mostly obvious potatoes which is relaxing for doing challenges or dailies).

    And when that happens then the devs my be forced to do what they did with ranked based mm, namely widen the matchmaking parameters so high MMR survivor can get game again and MMR will once again lose all it meaning.

    Technically Nurse IS the worst killer in the game for most people. But the best Nurses are among the best killers.

    Which means that those stats are a horrible indicator for balancing as otherwise the devs would need to seriously lower nurses skill floor, which would be ridiculous.

  • @Yamaoka said:

    First of all stats mean nothing balance wise (i.e. Nurse is the weakest killer according to stats so there's that), secondly the kill rates dropped massively since MMR got added according to the latest stats.

    Average killrate for killers combined is just over 50% and that's still including all those matches where killers got looped / destroyed all game but managed get multiple kills via survivor altruism (especially endgame. Survivors still love to throw just because they want their 4 man escape).

    The devs recently mentioned they're working on something regarding camping so I assume the killrates will drop below 50% in the long run. Hopefully the devs will see it as an opportunity to introduce a new secondary objective for survivors.

    The game on a high level sucks for killers. All high level survivors loop perfectly, rarely fall for any mindgames, fly through the gens even while injured even if you play fair and know every killer power weakness. That's not fun no matter how you put it. Playing as the killer feels like being a plaything when all survivors know what they're doing.

    What i am really curious about is if and/or when they implement something against camping, how long and more importantly if they will do something on killer side to balance that.

    It took them nearly a year to give killer something in return for making moris basically animations only aka the hatch spawn changed. And that solution was also so basic (except for the unlock animation) that it was proposed in similar form already in the first week after the mori change.

    Same. 8 hooks, 0 kills, great chases, I get to run the builds that I want, AND the game "punishes" me by giving me lower MMR? Too good to be true.

    Why do you think lower mmr is a punishment?

    If you like to play for max hooks and don't get any kills. Isn't it a good thing that you'll face weaker survivors so you can play how you want AND get kills.

    Stop thinking of mmr as a ranking of how good you are and it makes a lot more sense

  • When a game is based solely on an individual making an error… With little to no random elements to tip the scales at a given moment outside of something incredibly predictable, or simplistic... The game becomes dumb, and stagnant. I’ve said this before… The Ruin and Undying changes are proof that DbD was/is dumbed down!!!

    This is happening because the community keeps asking for checks/balances on both sides. Instead of asking for new variables that would make each match a genuine experience. Give players more offerings. Offerings that reduce pallets. Offerings to prevent hatch spawns (Killer sees keys). Adds dull totems. Reduces hooks. Nope. Most want to do the SAME thing for thousands of hours. As dealing with something after doing the same crap for 5,000 hours would irk players. If you’re that unhappy playing DbD you made yourself unhappy by playing the way you do. Survivors shouldn’t have a problem flash lighting a killer until they’re blind. Running killers in circles, and tbagging. As killer you MUST play dirty. Trick them into being your friend at the start only to grab one off the hook for a free down (As stealth really doesn’t exist in DBD). Bully one, or two to draw out altruism (If they’re body blocking, etc they aren’t doing generators!!).

    All killer mains complaining about that while such things exist should play a Solo Q 3 vs 1 at 5 gens all day.

    Play killer for 3 months and then come back :).

    How can you talk about balance when you don't play both sides ? What do you know about how it is to play killer ?

  • Terrible kill rates, especially when we know that all skill level are represented.

    And it was before SBMM/boons.

    Today if the killer doesn't face camp = 0 kill.

  • Because games as Killer tend to be extremely rough. You either roll or get rolled, and the amount of times where you feel like you get a fair balance doesn't seem to be there. And it's an issue that feels like it's just been compounded since SBMM due to how MMR is adjusted on both sides. (With Killers literal only objective being get Kills, not get hooks, and Survivor's only objective be to survive- which makes for pretty stale gameplay at the top of the MMR ladder.) Plus, when you mess up as Killer and lose the game, you literally have no one to blame but yourself, which feels awful, as its easier to blame others for a loss then to see where you went wrong.

    But tbh, I've not been having the worst time with SBMM as an average player recently. I've actually had a lot of games with Killers and teammates that I enjoyed and it felt fun and fair all around.

    I think the issue kinda just boils down to core Killer gameplay design issues and SBMM not necessarily being friendly to those who only have fun getting 4ks or those who are just good with a Killer/Killers due to time investment.

    It's never easy to get a kill unless you're Leatherface.

    It's exceptionally easy to get a single kill. Almost no games ever happen where nobody gets hooked. In most, someone either gets hooked right before the last gen goes off, or shortly after.

    It doesn't take anything resembling a good killer to get a kill at that point, only the ability to not get distracted by survivors waving and running circles asking for attention. If someone goes for the unhook, you can easily hit them before and after the unhook and trade them onto the hook. EVENTUALLY, someone runs out of trades and dies. And that's if everyone doesn't just leave when they see you camping the last guy.

    It is absolutely disproportionately higher odds that a 0k turns into a 1k over every other change in number of kills.

    • Play Bubba;
    • Equip NOED;
    • Find and down the first survivor;
    • Facecamp until death;
    • Down the second survivor with NOED;
    • Facecamp until death;
    • Enjoy the 50% kill rate "balance".
  • When I play pinhead, legion or trickster there is a decent chance somebody kills themselves immediately

    Guess we gotta nerf Legion if hes killing survivors so easily

    Try to not be a potato against a skilled S tier killer.

    I like how some survivors blame potatoes on their team for their poor performance likewise killers blame DS,DH for theirs,I play both killer and survivor in equal measures and you have to factor in all the unknowns into your tactical game,yep the game mechanics are shoddy,yep some of the perks add ons on both sides are op but it doesn’t stop us loading the game up and using our precious time playing it,I think the most important thing is to embrace its imperfections,see it for what it is(a game),don’t take it too seriously and to have fun,the alternative is play something else instead.

    It is absolutely disproportionately higher odds that a 0k turns into a 1k over every other change in number of kills.

    That's absolutely not how it works unless you play against potato survivors.

    In any match with decent survivors you can not just "make them trade".

    Survivor A takes the hit and runs away with the speed boost, survivor B unhooks while you're stuck in the cooldown animation of a successful hit and now you have a healthy and a Borrowed Time+DecisiveStrike survivor in front of you and if no one has died there's also a 4th survivor who can bodyblock for all of the other survivors.

    Now everyone gets out and you realize trading doesn't work like you expected.

    Play killer for 3 months and then come back :).

    How can you talk about balance when you don't play both sides ? What do you know about how it is to play killer ?

    I know I play both sides and it's like night and day......Killer side I am so chill and laid back because I dont care about kills...I get them when I get them.....I play to have fun and make it fun for the survivors.....but i can see where the stressers are as killer and where its non existent as survivor.

    Which means that those stats are a horrible indicator for balancing as otherwise the devs would need to seriously lower nurses skill floor, which would be ridiculous.

    The devs actually say when they show these numbers there’s more to balancing the killers than this, they just like showing the chart because players are curious.
