If its not fnaf im uninstalling

Seriously, with hints as clear as what they gave us(burned maps, bunny on a rock, TRAPped ace, matching letters revealed in the same manner as springtrap name was revealed for fnaf3, ciircus baby, classic animatronic AAAAAAA scream) there's one thing I can be absolutely sure of - they know goddamn well what they're doing. And although i'm not the biggest FNAF fan, Springtrap is so likely to break a year-old trend of bland, uninspired killers that barely fit into dbd at all, that I actually got extremely excited for new release and for the future of the game in general. If they announce anything else, I will not be able to perceive that as anything but an arrogant mockery and a literal spit in a face.

Wonder if anyone else feels the same way?

Their use of camp makes sense when you know it's used to describe things that are over the top/outrageous. Camp is actual a very common term. Met Gala theme few years ago was camp. Camp is used alot to describe horror movies because how over the top they go. Evil Dead is considered campy. Toxic Avenger is considered campy. This site lists the upcoming fnaf movie as campy. 😂

Thank you, that is a very good explanation and probably what the should have done in the beggining if they presumed I was not aware of the meaning. You could say chucky is campy, that would even make sense and people still want him. And what about the original Freddy Krueger? Boy was he campy, good thing we've got a remake one, community was so happy about it. But anyway - thank you for being non-toxic and reasonable.

That's a little over the top to uninstall because a certain character isn't in the game. Plus there's no chance because the copyright is still in the air.

Twins and blight fit dbd, but are incredibly boring characters that could have been so much more. Twins theme was originally supposed to be a mother and unborn or "taken" baby, which would be metal as hell, but they chickened out and had to scrap that for overdone siamese twins vibe instead. We even have an abomination skin for hag, using exact same theme, which ruined initial impressions for the twins even more. Not even gonna talk about powers here, but you know.

Blight's is beloved right now becouse he is just so fun to play(my current main as well). But the design is bland and atrocious on almost every level, starting from visuals(skins kinda fixed that a bit) to supposed "alchemist" power, which is "press button to 230% movespeed". His release felt like non-release, nobody was really playing him(true for twins and trickster as well), nobody was talking about him. Us growing on him half a year later is not gonna change that fact.

Trickster is fan-service, if you aren't into sexualising virtual murderers, there is nothing fun or interesting about him. Almost feels like devs are ashamed of him with how much they were pushing to talk about trickster's supposed great reception in anniversary quotes. Again, not even talking about gameplay here, but I was actually taken aback by the blandness of his power on the reveal(was same for blight, but at least blight's power is bland becouse they were tring to make it fun).

RE chapter, now that generated a ton of hype and brought a lot of people into the game. But it would do that regardless of chapter quality. Nemesis is, again, the most bland choice they could've made, his power is the most uninspired so far, and it feels so... wrong. "You just made a strong physical impact on survivor, but he didn't get injured couse.. you know, you gotta infect them with T-virus first, doesn't that make sense? Yea, that virus that turns people into zombies? It's blue goo now for some reason. And also it doesn't really affect survivors, it just let's you... physically impact them 🤣". Like it legit feels like a bad joke or an 8yo killer concept, and the worst part - there is nothing fun about it. For any side. It doesn't get any attention, nor does it deserve it. They even tried to go for "whipping" kink out of desperation, didn't seem to do any good. Funny zombie moments is all we got out of it. Yea, for me that's just shameful work. Survivors are great though. Map is literally the worst in the game, but whatever.

Of course, those are just my grumpy veteran observations, but you asked for it :) Hopefully you now understand why I have so much hope for Springtrap to bring this game back on track

Agreed with all that 👍 👏

Blank statement. Pyramid head is last year, and nemesis fits precisely into my definition. RE chapter reeks of being added becouse it's big franchise and not something devs wanted in the game themselves. They didn't choose a character who has potential for fun power to be in dbd, just went with boring and predictable nemesis for cheap hype. Deprived 3 killers of their own maps to make that RPD atrocity, again for cheap hype. Well, that hype is gone, and now we have a killer from resident evil, an iconic horror franchise, who people barely use becouse of how utterly unenjoyable he is. The few times I actually see nemesis they're using anniversary cake, probably the only reason people still play him. Oh, and there are a few fist-punching fanatics that make themselves be known I guess.

Should I be happy about wasted potential, in your opinion? Allow me to be not

nah i dont see it, what im saying is coming off of PH and silent hill is a pretty massive high. Blight is a fan favorite. twins and trickster suck but are not bland or uninspired, they are actually unique and i applaud the team for consistently adding to the roster. Then theres no denying the legacy of RE that translates to Nemesis as well. Which added a completely brand new concept into the game with the ai zombies. Bland and uninspired is not what this last year was. Lazy is what it was more like, but they were also updating the game and rebalancing it. Mixed bag but i think you are kind of being hyperbolic

A respectable take, with me being hyperbolic being quite likely. But again, I see a lot of blank statements here that are supposed to support some strong opinions like "Nemesis is a great addition to dbd and is not boring or bland at all becouse ai zombies, and ai never been in the game before". I wrote a post regarding all that at the beggining of page 2, not going into much detail there but at least read it if you plan to challenge my opinions. Regarding R.P.D., people hate it becouse this map manages to combine every aspect that makes a dbd map a bad dbd map into one giant mess. And that's pretty objective, unlike saying map is good and people are just dumb for not liking it.

  • They also posted a picture of the perk red herring, so I'm taking their recent posts with a pitcher of salt.

Imagine this but it's dbd. I don't think fnaf fits in dbd. It's clearly marketed for kids. I get enough salt at the end of matches. Don't need the 10 year old warriors in chat as well.

I get the appeal of the story. If Fnaf comes in then it will attract kids as well. Game is not made for kids.

Wooow there, chief. Rolling in with an original and totally-not-debunked-before opinion of fnaf being childish, even using some crappy fan-made image that has no relation to actual games to prove his point. Very strong.

You're a bit late though - despite heavily hinting fnaf in a clever and non-obvious way, they just rolled out an image with a literal pinhead needle on it. A weaker license of course, but we'll have what we'll be having. Happy for people who enjoy that character, thread closed!

For some context Springtrap is a hybrid animatronic in a sense that its both a suit and a robot, but EXTREMELY unsafe, its possessed by a serial killer William Afton (the main antagonist of the series) who is know to have killed multiple children using the suit (originally named Spring Bonnie), after being cornered by the ghosts of his victims he attempts to hide in the suit for safety thinking they would fear him, but this proves to be his fatal mistake since the deterioration of the suit caused it to malfunction and release all the mechanical parts crushing him and puncturing him, killing him in the process, his soul would later poses the animatronic turning it into a mechanical monster thats both animatronic and a corpse fused together, despite this state he would continue his career has a serial killer, he even describes his fate has bittersweet but fitting.

Theres a lot more after but thats after he stopped being Springtrap and turned into Scraptrap (a far more destroyed version of the animatronic) and later Glitchtrap (a virtual virus after his body was completely destroyed)

How to keep à.story going when you reached an end and deztroyed the evil?

Make him à Virus, its better instead of bringing in some fresh blood

If i recall apparently some dumbasses took Springtrap's chip (from the remains of him), which basically its all the programming (aka consciousness) and attempted to make a videogame with it, largely to cover up all the mess of the company (the previous games) by recreating the events of past games and make them out to be pure nonsense rather than real events to clean their names.

But as seen the chip had Afton's soul and now took form has a virus inside said game and ended up brainwashing one of the testers (the character you play as) and turned her into his follower who is know has Vanny, which wears a white bunny costume and is now set on continuing his legacy as a murderer.

Btw this reminds me on how the hell the third game even happened, Springtrap was retrieved between the first and second night, like did none of those idiots noticed that he has a freaking corpse inside him? i feel the smell would have been a dead giveaway, and that a lot of the flesh is visible form the outside.

Like I said, look at Coraline, a book (and later, a film) for children. It may not seem child-appropriate to many adults, but apparently it was deemed as such.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2419299#Comment_2419299

If you make merchandise for kids, then you're marketing to kids. Whether or not the content is appropriate for children is a highly subjective matter that largely depends on social norms, but you make merchandise that targets your audience (or the audience you hope to acquire). You don't see Caillou-themed motorcycles, for instance, because they're not the target audience.

I was a teen when I first was enjoying dbd, I am now much older and still enjoy the idea and lore to FNAF and would probably buy some of the child marketed products (even though I do not really keep up with all the new stuff for the game series). Just my opinion

    1) fnaf is a pg13- same as the first Halloween. If youve watched that, you should know that it's pretty bad. Also Friday 13th is pg13. Coraline is ######### Pg. They aren't advertising to people under 13 .

    2) if the first point wasn't enough to show that it isn't as much for kids as people think, then what about this:

Kids generally care more about a game then it's lore, and the recent fnaf games ( sister location especially) have been fairly full of lore. Sister location was a game fully about the lore, and how bored do you think 10 years olds and below are going to feel when they're doing a sidescroller to get bits of lore for half the game? It would be like if fortnite made you watch a 5 minute clip after every game on the production of the game. How quickly do you think kids would leave that?

    3) finally a poll was done that found the average age being 15-16 and the age range from 12 (a small amount of the community) all the way up to 30 (another minority).

Halloween came out in 1978. Things were different then and subsequent movies have not been rated PG-13.

Kids care about whatever their favorite influencer is playing.

  • Well, see you later then.

  • Bye, lol. All the clues pointed toward Pinhead, but all the FNAF fans refused to consider anything but Springtrap. Even the final clues which all but confirmed it was Pinhead were twisted to fit what the FNAF fans wanted.

So do a lot of young adults.

Lots of adults who play games are influenced by their favourite streamers (otzdarva, Scott and tru3 for dbd- Tyler1, Sneaky and Aphromoo for league- m0xyy, dafran and sleepy for overwatch).

Also age ratings are updated regularly, so whilst you may say that it was in the past it has probably changed throughout the years.

True, but they aren't actual children. Most adults can reason for themselves and can take someone saying "I don't think this will work" without spamming 1000 threads about the topic and attacking anyone who dares to disagree.

FNAF isn't even that good either, it's a flash in the pan sort of game, like Slender.

You say that, but you are in the dbd forums XD like the posts of nerf/remove survivor perk/killer that are their everyday. Noed yesterday, same as DH posts and spirit posts. There is so many repeated posts.

You can not like fnaf, that's fine, but don't throw things at it that either have no standing or are just factually wrong. If there's any other points I'll respond asap, but otherwise have a good day.

Use the search feature. The FNAF spam is on another level. I found out that in the last week, it actually had more comments than NOED in the last month. It's not comparable to anything and genuinely just feels like an invasive ad campaign.

There's literally more spam and vitriol from them than there is about NOED.

The original game wasn't designed for kids, but the others were. Less horror, more lore.

I really wouldn't have minded it, but now I want it to stay out of DBD just for spite.

  • Don't uninstall yet, the PTB showing Hellraiser might just be another distraction and it's still gonna be SpringTrap. Keep your dream alive!

  • Are you uninstalling yet?

  • I really just love everyone saying "Keep the FNAF kids away, they're so toxic!" and acting like DBD isn't already extremely toxic. In fact every online game where you compete against other people is toxic. If anything I expect FNAF players to be less toxic because they aren't killing other people, or tea-bagging and macro-spamming your flashlight to the killer at the exit gate.

I have never played a single FNAF game, but I am very interested in the lore and story behind it, and I think Springtrap would be a cool killer, plus he would be something we haven't seen before (an animatronic).

Let's not gatekeep DBD and act like we are somehow 'above' people who enjoy FNAF. It's very petty and pathetic, and the recent teasers from the devs have brought out the worst in both our community and the FNAF fans. I'm very excited for Pinhead as he looks awesome and fun, but I would be equally as excited if it were Springtrap.
