There's way too much thinking happening in this thread, shut it down.

I didn't know serial killers had a dress code. I thought be looked silly when I came back to the game but if you actually play as him you quickly realize he's actually crazy dark with personality compared to most the other killers in the game.

You wanted Springtrap, he came.

SBMM is going to happen whether or not some people want it or not Behaviors clearly made their mind up it's coming back for sure. So to the ones who don't want it, buckle up you're getting it forced onto you for sure, just like how Dedicated Servers got forced onto us when they weren't even in a good state yet.
I mean if people didn't think it was going to happen after they been talking/testing it for so long I don't know what to say

yes, they reworked ranks visualy to fit with the new mmr
I saw on Otz's stream his r1 was yellow and ugly, really hoping that's a bug.

Yeah I play nurse, slinger, billy, oni on console and the hitbox to land one of those chains seems 50x wider than any of the other hitboxes, shouldn't be an issue.

Scott Jund pointed out that the Devs will never base their balance at the top as they won't care as 90% of their target audience is not there. He even showed Mclean(When he was a dev) stating that it's cool that there are people who are interested in the competitive aspect of DBD but ultimately they don't want to focus on that aspect.
I think Scott was taking a clip of McLean talking about a game company investing in competitive DBD, something that can cost absurd amounts of money and confusing it with balancing general rank 1 gameplay. Scott makes many good points about sbmm but I don't think that's what McLean was talking about there.

More than anything hillbilly just needs all of his animations completely redone, he's a buggy mess that everyone seems to afraid to touch because he just about works.

I have an ssd on PS4 pro and I face the same performance issues lots of people are having.
You sure that's not a hybrid ssd ? My client runs perfectly.

Just curious. Not saying that it is a "win", but if the match was fun, you had good chases and made lots of points, and two survivors escaped, would you be satisfied?
I used to think that I had to get a 4k when I played killer, mainly because of the toxic endgame chat where the survivors constantly berated me, but when I think about it, when I have 25K blood points and two kills, I'm usually happy. It only becomes frustrating when they're toxic as hell, then I want them all on hooks by any means possible.
I'm satisfied with a good match, Sometimes I mess up and everyone leave one death hook but it was still an engaging game.
Edit: good example, I just 4k'd on legion, but it was pretty boring because the last 2 survivors just gave up and wouldn't even try running when I found them, that was lame and didn't feel like a great game.
-
Yes
-
1st game of the day, we got 4k'd by a hag, everyone earned great BP, team played like God damned legends, all totems purged in the 1st few mins, team work off every hook, someone on gens on every save, everyone dipping in chases for protection hits, we got 4k'd but it was a great game.
I love this new system.

I actually have a different experience. My solo games have gotten a lot better. I feel like almost all of my teammates have similar playstyles as I do, and actually pull their weight. My escape rate is up and I am having more fun in games, even if we lose, feels like we had a chance.
As killer, nothing really has changed. More decent teams perhaps, but overall, facing the same skilled survivors.
Pretty much same experience, I think a lot of solo quers have had similar experiences because the swf boosted potato's who you got in your games have been put back to where they belong and the games feel much better for it.
Even when we loose the games felt good and we all really tried and made good BP.

Maybe they shouldn’t be doing it at rank reset then? Lack of common sense.
There is no rank reset it's going off sbmm elo that's been background calibrating for months so I fail to see how that's relevent, the rank numbers mean literally nothing atm.
-
There's nothing wrong with them doing a blind test to get feedback based purely on the events during the game, if it bothers you that much come back after the 16th.

I guess there funny because you can see a lot of random ######### from your team mates and killer but that gets old after while

Okay, he actually said that unironically. Guess that's why all of my solo queue games are automatically over as soon as I get hooked, since all 3 survivors immediatly stop any gen pressure and just hang around the hook until I die. Never understood what's going on in their minds, thanks for shedding some light.
Sounds like you're in bad sbmm bracket, just keep practicing and you'll get there, in my MMR it's normally the guy with borrowed time who comes for the save while the others keep gen pressure, I'm assuming you're running kindred so your solo q team mates have the Intel to make the best decisions when you're on the hook ?.
-
@DreKShun said:
I'm actually surprised that some of you disagree with me. You actually would rather a gen regress back to nothing just to come and unhook you right then and there. Obviously skilled survivors (such as myself) make calculated plays and risks in the game.
If I get off the gen to come save you and find out the killer has sloppy butcher and then he/she returns to the hook, he has free pressure, could possibly re-down you, and also doesn't have to worry about the gen that was at 80% popping anymore, making the first 2-3 minutes of the match completely pointless because you go down 10 seconds into a chase
If you were so skilled you would understand that having a survivor on death hook at 4gen is far more strategically dangerous than a gen regressing from 80%. If you're 3v1 at 3 gen it's gg for the killer 90% of the time.
-
If that person's not a Smurf then I would speculate that they maybe being thrown around a different range of MMR to determine their own, most games online give you 5-10 placement matches where it throws you around all over the place.
-
I think it's about finding the balance, you sometimes have to act a little selfishly to get a foothold in a game but that doesn't mean the entire match has to be played out like that.

Not sure i understand your point. Unbreakable and decisive is what I’m talking about
Alright I'll bite, there's nothing wrong with meta perks on either side, they are perfectly fine and can all he counter played.
If you think you're going against swf in the lobby and you see lots flash lights bring lightborn and starstruck and watch them behave, keep your chases short unless you can get a down quickly, make sure you're setting up your 3 gen correctly, try to focus on only putting the same few people on the early hooks so you can remove them quickly later on, you want at least one guy on death hook asap. Don't be afraid of slugging to build pressure when needs be and if a swf group is being all in your face there's nothing morally wrong with tunneling one of them out to apply turbo pressure.
Stop believing you can be bullied, flash light clicking and tea bagging is a silly attempt to get in your head to try and make you miss play and forget all the points I previously made. Lots of killers face meta perks, they play around them and they win, if you feel it's the perks you're just looking got something to blame rather than focusing on improving your game.
Lastly I also play on console, if you really love dbd I highly recommend you get a SSD as an external drive, it fixes all performance issues with the game, like literally all of them.

I've been playing this game for a couple of months now and I've managed to work my way to level 13 killer (not bad considering I only have a few hours a day to play this game😊). But it's gotten to the point to where I keep facing red rank swf and...it's not fun anymore. Nothing worse than approaching the exit door and seeing all four survivors lined up in a row teabagging you as they walk out (true story!).
Recently I leveled up Freddy to the point to where I really want to play him, but all I keep getting matched up against are red ranks. It's nice to think if this game considers me to be that good, but I know I'm not! LOL
Is anyone else a little too apprehensive to play killer? I find playing as a lone survivor far less nerve-wracking, because I'd rather be paired up with a red rank instead of going up against them.
My best advice to you is keep facing those red rank swf, as much as you can and keep a positive mental attitude while you do and work on improving and expect nothing, after enough time you'll start to realize they all play very similar and have generic weakness and are vulnerable to certain perk load outs, then you'll start to exploit swf and snowball of their mistakes very easily.
It's a painful road, learn to laugh at their antagonism and know it isn't personal, they are just trying to get in your head because they want to win, work on your gameplay, your tiles, your mind games and you'll just start winning organically.
Good luck.
-
How do you know they don't run meta builds because they have huge pp and off meta perks aren't big enough to support it ?

You honestly shouldn't even be giving the dude a foot to stand on saying ah just let it go in the video game.
No this ######### is why we still have people being divided over the dumbest ######### ######### ever. I'm sick of people like Mr. Fresh Account with not even 10 post clearly made the account to spread bs or troll. Don't say it's only okay in just video games it's a ######### hair cut. I bet OP only knows very little history about the hairstyle and just came on the forums to racebait.
Let's say we humor OP - Okay what happens then?
Does every race start slowly taking things away from other races if they didn't invent them or if it didn't originate from their culture or history? Do you know how bad that would be and stupid? This is the mindset OP has. It's not even thoughtful discussion it's just "white girl have hairstyle bad" and they even say that in one of their post. Such a tasteless thing to even give a foot to stand on. You give these people an inch and they take a mile. They're not worth giving a platform because they misrepresent everyone else.
You think I'd want someone like OP representing me as a gay person? Imagine someone coming on the forums and being all like straight survivors / killers shouldn't have access to this charm.
And again to clarify and it's nothing personal but when you said "if you got a problem with it in real life then fine"
Don't enable this dude - If he's genuine saying stuff like that just enables them.
The problem is once you open up the conversation to the broader topic on a forum like this there's no win condition and it creates a situation that could go on for a 1000 pages where no side backs down and nothing is accomplished which is why I find it easier to stay on point, which is cultural appropriation in a video game and the limitation of expression in a fictional character, which is self evidentially stupid.

I play him on console with a controller is why. Also those two aren't unplayable as I used to main them, only trickster is terrible with a controller.
Ya know I actually just tried him again on controller and he seems a little easier to control than after his change, maybe I'm going crazy because their was nothing in the patch notes but he felt more manageable, not great mind you by any stretch though playing on ssd so you don't get the power ready stutter also helps.

@Razorbeam Fictional or not a white girl shouldn't have cornrows.
That is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard, if you got a problem with it in real life then fine, but when it comes to the world of fantasy and creation and imagination everyone should be able to be anything and express themselves in anyway they see fit within a videogame on the condition it's not causing actual harm or promoting hate.
Your ignorance looks no different than harmful ignorance when you go to such extremes to find problems. All races should have access to all haircuts in a video game and expression should not be limited and you should leave the real world bs at the door.
-
Wait what, is this, a cultural appropriation thread ? Surely not, I mean meg's a fictional character, what am I not understanding.
-
Learning huntress can be a cruel experience, there's no much of a skill floor but a massive skill ceiling, I play DBD on console now and honestly having no chat is a god send, turn it off, you don't need to tell people gg, everyone knows when it was a gg.
-
If you give me hatch I'm suddenly your best friend, if that helps.
-
Generally it's pretty obvious when a survivor has dh so in a chase it's very easy to bait out and takes mere seconds hence the meme "exhausted on the ground", however, in your situation it's a bit more circumstantial and given it's on a trap trigger you don't have the option BUT you are playing hag and traps are so disgustingly strong is it right to remove any hope of a survivor surviving one when crouching past it isn't an option.
Had the trap been on a second floor window, next to a vault or the survivor walking past it with sb, the same distance and safety could have been obtained in exchange for exhaustion so I'm gonna have to side with dh on this one, but as someone who plays a lot of killers I do know the pain.

Are you brain-damaged? It doesn't matter how altruistic or not they are when they can instantly broadcast perfect information to each other for free. 16 perks worth of information and the only thing they have to do is run Discord or whatever console they're on's chat. It is cheating. There is no argument to be made here.
If you haven't learned how to adjust your playstyle to swf like everyone else has to the point you publicly cry about it on the forums humiliating yourself and also exposing yourself as not very good at the game you should probably hold back on commenting on the intelligence of other people.
-
@ComedyHour said:
It's cheating regardless of how it affects the matchmaking.
I swear 90% of swf are over alturistic maniac's that throw the game the second one of them go down. Half of them don't do gens and they all suicide for unhooks, it's so rare a swf team comes in like seal team six, does the gens and uses voice to evade me and leaves.
I'll extend the olive branch that when you're new to your killer it's a lot harder to snow ball off them and it can feel like "bullying" but once you get good with your killer they are so easy to snow ball off and the games actually become super engaging and entertaining.
If they announced tomorrow that swf was removed from the game I probably wouldn't play killer anymore it would be too boring and I say this as someone that barely ever swf survivor.
-
Guy's I know this looks bad BUT HEAR ME OUT
-
Yeah my game is vastly improved on solo survivor, we got 4k'd by a spirit earlier and the scores looked the same, but it was just a few critical errors at the start that let her super snowball the end of the game it happens sometimes.

A win is a win and a loss is a loss, even in dbd where everyone makes their own win conditions.
Best I can do is to count a game as satisfying if I had good chases, regardless of the end result. It's not my win condition, but I'll take that any day over a victory if it was a boring match.
Pretty much this

@rha said:
I will probably give more detailed feedback after the test, but so far I am super happy.
My killer matches are challenging but fair and fun.
The biggest pain in DbD for me was solo queue since they made pipping too easy and changed the rank reset. And this is a difference like night and day now. I rarely had this much fun in solo queue. Just had a super fun match against a good Blight and equally good teammates, thrilling from first to last minute, I hope the matches stay this way.
I'm glad to see other people are having similar experiences like myself on both sides.
-
I legit think it needs another 15 seconds, 45 would be a real sweet spot of exposed status and even then the survivor really has all the control in hiding 90% of the time, even a nurse would be lucky to not only get over to you in time but be in a position where getting to you is a higher priority than what they are currently doing.
-
Ironically as the quality of my survivor team mates has drastically gone up I've found the games to be far less sweaty, yes the killers are scarier but the game is far more enjoyable when everyone's doing what they should be doing and just playing the matches out properly, even if we lose they are still really good matches.

MMR could work but only once we address the highest elo and the absolute bonkers crazy ######### they break the game with up there. Otherwise players who don't abuse stuff but get in that elo aren't going to want to play the game after long.
The best ending is this forces them to finally address the top 5%, the worst ending is they ignore it and nobody in that bracket plays which historically kills all online games.
Take your bets.

Awful news, huge loss for bhvr and as one of the few devs that had real visibility it's a tragic loss for the community, bhvr now become more a faceless corporation that exist only in update posts.
Best of luck to you McLean, can't believe we are loosing the guy that bought us blight.
-
Last night I played all killer and experimented with most played and least, all good games bar one, the fairer match making on killers I barely played was exceptionally nice.
Tonight I'm about 10+ games in on survivor and every game so far has been competent team mates vs a competent killer and all have been enjoyable whether or not I escaped. I safety pipped on 30% and pipped on the rest.
So far so good tbh
Edit: should add I've been heavily playing the last few months on both sides in red so it should have a good idea of my MMR.
Double edit: If as killer you have an issue with survivors running meta perks and you didn't bring Franklyn's/Lightborn when you saw 3 flashlights the issue doesn't lie with sbmm...
