  • The only thing that makes me not mind the huntress hitbox witchcraft so much is against high level survivors they are generally unphased by the pressense of her and juke a good 50% of the shots, it doesn't make it less bullshit but once you're used to facing her enough there's a decent enough level of counterplay.

Nothing I just said though helps the average solo q hero.

So when the hatchet spins like this and most if not all similar weapons irl spin like this (such as a tomohawk), less risk throwing wrong and seriously miss target, it actually does spin a full 360° while staying perfectly on target?

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/WY253IJQX94E/polish-20210809-173122156.jpg

Now, I'd suggest trying some weapon throwing out because not only is it quite fun but you can also see that if you threw a weapon such that it were to spin 360° in the air, it would also never be able to consistently hit a target directly in front of it like the hatchets do.

There is, therefore, absolutely no reason for the hatchet to have a beachball shaped hitbox when a very squashed cylinder works perfectly.

Just keep practicing and eventually you too will be able to pull off the every axis 1 direction trickshot.

  • It's gonna be Mr X and I'm kinda sad coz as cool as he was in re2 I would never pick that look over nemesis, I hope I'm wrong but given the license I doubt I am. Zombie skins would be cool though, I want zombie Dwight's and meg's.

  • Honestly given how much the zombies help me track survivors I feel my chase time against fresh survivors is much higher on nem ( coupled with his perk LP ) I feel it does a great job of making you feel like the constantly pursuing and pressuring presence that the nemesis embodies.

Swirling in a circular direction on one axis isn't a reason for it to be a beachball.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2413462#Comment_2413462

Iirc they tried to make it an accurate hatchet box then but for some reason they've never tried a very squished cylinder. Not publicly anyway

It's actually spinning in all directions forming the perfect beachball, what you see is just an illusion such motion creates.

Ranks are going to be hidden under the Skill Based Matchmaking test (as was always planned when the system goes live). It's actually a lot better to get feedback when ranks are hidden because Ranks are effectively meaningless for rating skill as the current ranking system is pretty much more about time.

Judge your matches by how they felt, how balanced they feel etc. Not going by the end result screen.

I'm so sad it's disabled I was so amped to start practicing all the killers I wanted outside the red zone, fix it Mandy turn it back on.

  • Pretty sure the only way you can confirm if the crossplay is console is if you yourself are on console and can friend them, pretty sure the other windows platform appears the same.

  • What you describe only happens to me when I forget to set up my 3 gen, you can play everything perfectly but nothing can stop the first 2 gens from flying no matter what your perks, as long as everything you do is ultimately based around your 3 gen the game will rapidly slowdown towards the end. Most of the red ranked games I play survivors really try not to let the 3 gen happen so you get plenty of opportunity to make things happen playing off their determination to prevent it.

If you're expecting sweaty games I highly recommend lethal purser (god perk) starstruck (swf tamer) and ruin with undying ( currupt just doesn't seem to pay out much now it's like survivors just wait it out ).

Edit: oh and another thing, sometimes in life the game will spawn 1 survivor on a gen each and if you go to the wrong gen that games over in minutes, it's rare it happens and it's not the survivors fault the game just ######### you over, try not to get to mad about it and go next.

  • In my dream version of DBD the lobby would count down till lock in where all you can pick is items, then it would show you all the map, if it's killer sided the survivors need less points to pip/safety pip and vise versa, you then get a timer to change killer/survivor and adjust perks accordingly, maybe you could all ban a map each, leaving the lobby during that time would give you the same dc penalty.

  • You're choosing to play the solo role in a 1v4 where every second and action you make can decide each phase of the game, how can it be anything other than try harding ? I would say it's much more a fact that the games just not for you or play survivor where you don't focus on escaping and more just chilling and chases then it can be a lot more relaxing and fun.

  • The first step is realizing they aren't bullying you, they are just using game mechanics to win, it's only effective when you allow it to get in your head, teams who are flash light spamming and swarming you aren't doing gens, so you're actually winning you just need to adapt your playstyle to fit what's happening, a great perk for this is starstruck btw I highly recommend it but even without what I'll normally start doing is slugging a few of them and making plays to snowball off them trying to help each other and they generally just fall apart at that point and the games been running for 15mins at a 4 gen.

You have every right to camp if that helped you win but you did it because you got angry and if you're getting angry you've got the wrong swf mindset, when you get swarmed by a team your game has actually been made much easier, they have literally all come to you just laugh at their antics and then start dealing with them, if they won't let you hook them they don't get to cry when all of them are slugged on the ground.

I think every killer at some point feels bullied by these antics but you have to evolve your mindset and you'll see how much easier it is to win these games without all the stress. These swf groups are going into those games primarily to have fun, you can very much have fun too with the right attitude adjustment, it took me a fair few negative experiences til I worked it out, now if I get chained head on'd I laugh and say nice, then I carry on with my game plan.

I never really thought of this until now, but it feels like this happens pretty often? If a survivor brings in Balanced Landing and Haddonfield offering, It's shamed, but if a Myers brought Scratched Mirror and Lery's offering no one really cares? Survivors want to go to maps that benefit their builds the same way killers want to go to maps that benefit theirs.

What's weird is that I do this too, I generally look down on survivors bringing map offerings, but I don't actually know why, feels hypocritical of me.

I don't think it's shamed to bring those offerings, you are however intentionally trying to swing the game so heavily in your favor that the killer is going to have to do whatever they feel they need to do to win that game and there's nothing wrong with that, just understand the first guy caught is far more likely to be forced out the game but there's no guarantees the killer was never gonna play nice if you didn't make it haddonfield.

Tldr; tools/offerings are there to be used so use them

It's certainly not balanced to be competitive in a public match setting. Way too much RNG and downright broken things either side can run. Plus matchmaking is really bad.

If someone wants to play competitive, they should actually play competitive. You face people of your skill level, the game is more balanced, and it feels more fair overall. But slapping on Corrupt/Ruin/Undying/Pop double recharge Nurse for pubs is just kind of cringe IMO with the way matchmaking is. You'll win 200-300 in a row that way.

Plenty of highly competitive games can be based purely on rng, I'm not sure where this idea of rng negating competition came from but it's really bizarre. Dbd is a game about trying to stack the rng in your favor ( items, map offerings etc ) and then trying to win with the game as tipped in your favor as it can be, there's nothing uncompetitive about that formula. I would definitely concede though that it's much harder for the solo q survivor to be able to influence the rng enough to call it fair but a 4 man swf definitely evens it out.

Sure to call DBD an esport is funny and redundant but it does ironically have one of the most important ingredients that any esport needs to be successful - it's very entertaining to watch, if you're game isn't entertaining to spectate and isn't easy for a random viewer to come into the stream and grasp what's happening your esport generally never takes off. What completely undoes this fact though is a 4 man comp swf plays so effiecntly that all entertainment factor is lost because even the best killers don't know how to counter how effective and boring playing the game at that level is.

This game is filled with solo que survivors who play to climb, the odds are stacked against them and they are trying to use their skill and improve to reach rank 1, they are playing no less competitively than you do in any other game with a rank system to climb. Dbd is also a really fun group game to play with your friends and not care about rank and just have a lot of fun no matter the skill level, both sides all exist in the same que and neither side is less valid.

  • If it's an exploit make sure you record the games and report them, they do get dealt with, eventually.

  • Sometimes nostalgia hits me so hard I miss half hour hatch stand offs with survivors/killers, there was something magically bonding about that special alone time between the two you trying to out smart each other.

  • Oh that's easy what you want to do is find the killer and walk up to him and crouch on the spot in an almost tea bagesque fashion, when he puts you on the hook start immediately trying to wriggle free until your 1st state is gone then intentionally miss your 2nd state skill checks until the entity consumes you.

This method will very clearly and accurately inform the rest of your team mates you have a key and you intend to use it.

    Good luck gamer.

A lot of people on here seem to think keys are the pinnacle of evil. I've also seen a lot of people say in a similar sentiment that when they see a key they tunnel the person out. Well while you are tunneling them out and ignoring everybody else, all they need to do is do gens for free since you aren't pressuring them and then pick up the key and escape. Tunneling/camping the key carrier is what enables 3 mean key escapes.

Except in reality nobody does that 99% of the time, they all get off gens and desperately try and save the key. Doing gens is the best counter to camping but the reason people still do it is because a bunch of lemmings kamakazie into them giving the guy a 4k.

Logic and reality don't line up in this game.

You’re upset at players playing in the spirit of an actual horror experience? Oh the nerve of them. How dare they see the killer as a threat that can kill them.

Good survivors can be just as threatening to the killers objective as you are to theirs, but if roleplay makes you happy man live your dreams baby.

  • Swf games are way more fun for killer than pure solo q once you have played enough swf games to understand the difference in mentality. I have also never in all my time playing solo q survivor ever once felt I got ######### over by a premade, even if I did that would be pure speculation on my end and most likely just me blaming my team mates for all the misplays I made that game.

Alright I'll admit maybe the title was a tad clickbait BUT I legit have a lot more fun facing clicky crouch spamming 4mans than I do solo q, you get a lot more random action and opportunities to snowball off silly plays and a lot more stuff happens that makes me burst out laughing during the match, you just have to realize the clicking and tea bagging is them wanting to play with you and not an actual insult to your family and counter them with your own mind games.

  • They don't save you because they like you, they save you because they know that with capped out objective they need a couple of safe unhooks and a team heal just to rank up, what are you doing to upset your team so much they don't rescue you.

Well. I'm a purple ranks so your info is not correct, and I know red ranks that have the exact same issue.

Then I must be the luckiest solo que survivor because in my journey to red I think I got left on the hook to die for no reason like 3 times and that's out of a lot of games. Now a killer not making it safe or logical to save me and me dying ? Sure loads but that's down to the killers play style and not the fault of my team mates they just applied common sense.

  • @ciara1999 said:

Solo queue is a nightmare. It's swf you should be complaining about. How can you blame a group of survivor's that are all running random perks and don't have communication with each other, instead of blaming others, work on your technique, because solo queue isn't as skilled as you say. Most solo queue matches consist of dying on your first hook and your team not touching gens.

I play a lot of survivor solo que and what you describe applies to rank 20 - 12, after that your team mates are very alturistic because they know they can't rank without emblems, when I play killer it's the 4 man swf's that have problems touching gens because they want to have fun and chase or do troll stuff.

  • Windows of opportunity with sprint burst, don't bother with dead hard until you are more confident at running people, it's far better to be able to sprint out of a deadzone and get to safe pallet to prolong your chases, just don't greed pallets and try to chain your pallets/vaults.

How do you know he would have earned that much BP ?

  • Nemesis: just play well on him but I play everyone tbh

    Nea: I'm a basic #########

  • I must be very lucky because I've never in all my solo survivor games ever been ######### over but what was clearly premade, not saying it doesn't happen I'm sure it does but only in very low ranks did it ever feel like I didn't have alturistic team mates who wouldn't go for unhooks, everyone wants to farm the emblems via unhooks/healing.

As for playing killer swf really doesn't bother me any more, after you face it enough you learn to identify the tells of problematic groups in the lobby then you just perk up to counter them ( starstruck, lightborn if appropriate ) ignore the ones begging for your attention and if they try "bullying" you you've pretty much won because nobodies doing gens and it's easy to snowball off the swarming.

I find rare spawns where it puts 1 survivor on a solo gen each way more problematic than any swf group, heading to the wrong gen and having 4 gens pop is a bigger issue than swf will ever been and I think swf gets blamed for this happening than the actual dodgy spawns.

There is nothing morally wrong about slugging yes, but it is not fun that this is required to consistently 4k. I don't care about lore, I care about good gameplay. That is what matters in a game like Dead By Daylight. The lore is a bonus, nothing more.

A Survivor does not deserve a free escape for completely and totally failing at their core objective and that is the truth. It is a bad mechanic and is not fun for the killer at all. A "Hatch stand off" shouldn't even exist, THAT is what I am arguing. And I am trying to find a solution to this that makes BOTH sides happy, so stop trying to reflect this as some personal issue. It is objectively bad design, a person being rewarded for performing poorly is by it's own innate nature bad design. You don't get a victory screen in Mario for losing all your lives.

Ha you think what we have now is a hatch stand off ? Oh boy, you know once upon a time you couldn't close the hatch ? Oh man I remember having to practice hatch interrupts and all the dumb mind games you would play with each other for 20mins+, that was dumb and what we have now is good.

You want to take away layers of the game to call it good, I say removing layers from the game and taking away opportunities for intelligent plays makes the game far worse.

If you don't set up your hatch properly you don't deserve the 4k it's that simple.

I remember well playing survivor and having the killer make the hatch unreachable before it could be closed and how absolutely draining it was to have to pop a gen alone while remaining hidden, it took forever and was unbearably boring for everyone involved.

Although true, T2 mutation makes chases very dangerous for survivors because of just how quickly Nemesis can then clear pallets and breakable walls at safe loops.

Absolutely, I never go into a game not wanting to tier up, honestly I love tier 3 when I read it gave 1m of distance I thought it was dumb but damn does that extra drop of range save you some time on chases, I've had countless downs where I've just winged people before they got to safety or they haven't respected the t3.

I can't deny though now that there's just a lot of games where the snowball has picked up so fast I look at my power at the end and realize it's not got a single drop off t1 lol which is weird because for my 1st 100 games all I cared about was hitting t2 for pallet smashing.

First of all, it is a failure in game design. The Entity does not grab one of the 4 escaping survivor by the collar and go "Ah ah ah! The Killer needs his free kill!", that would be ridiculous and would be unanimously hated. Second of all, if I stomp a team without even 1 gen being completed, I absolutely deserve the 4k. Success should be rewarded, and to ensure that in this game you must engage in unhealthy and unfun play styles via slugging just to ensure you don't have someone have a free victory handed to them on a silver platter that they objectively accomplished nothing to deserve. Second of all, you may not care but the game and it's poor emblem system certainly does, the Killer not even pipping despite stomping a team besides the 1 Survivor who escaped via Hatch is poor design at it's purest. It is inexcusable and should not remain the way it is, not even close.

Well I mean from a lore standpoint given the entity feeds off survivor hope the hatch makes perfect sense, also when I slug the 3rd survivor to bait out the last guy to rescue him I'll normally make sure the guy who played bait is the last 1 remaining to repay him for his service and given I'm allowing the 4th survivor to "help" the sluggie I'm also gambling the opportunity for them to outplay me and my master plan to backfire so there's zero morally wrong or bad gameplay about using that tactic, I'm giving them second chances so I can better track the last 2 and make sure they are both injured, it's simple set up.

And no matter what you say you don't deserve that 4k, you may have played really well for the 1st 3 kills but you clearly really sucked at putting any thought into winning the hatch 1v1 as you refuse to set it up so you win despite caring enough to write the whole essay you did about the hatch.

I honestly believe too many players put too much emphasis on levelling up to tier 3 mutation. Tier 2 is his REAL power. The 1m extension in T3 is really just a bonus imo.

I would honestly say just tiering up at all isn't always appropriate, it's very nice to do and get the advantages of but I've had countless 4ks where just playing the m1 killer destroyed a game and not using my whip at bad times secured it. I think a lot of it comes down to maps really but the fast down always trump's the tier up.

  • @MrCalac123 said:

It's not a fine mechanic. A Survivor getting a free escape even if not a single gen is completed is not a fine mechanic. It rewards complete and total failure.

If I downed and killed 3 people at 5 gens and the last guy got the hatch I would call that a failure on my part if I wanted the 4k that badly, given I'm so in control of the game that I've obliterated them that hard I'm not going to let the hatch open until I'm in the strongest position to do so. You take 4ks very seriously and there's often times I don't show mercy and greed the 4k but I've never had the last guy escape and got angry at how unfair the hatch is and not just said gg.

You need to relax dude, you stomped them on a 5gen, that's good enough.

  • Wait are we arguing about just the hatch opening for the last survivor here ?? That's a perfectly fine mechanic, 90% of the time I find it first and close it anyway but even if the survivor gets out what do I care I'm sitting on a 3k, hell a lot of the time I close it and down the survivor and let em out anyway just for one last chase.

You want to talk keys then I would agree they are dumb but that last survivor remaining 1v1 is a nice shake up to slightly different gameplay at the end of a clearly good match for me and it would be frankly boring if it was removed, even on the biggest of maps it shouldn't be taking you that long to find and close the hatch.

Edit: if the bming on the hatch bothers you that much I advise dancing with them, homie is making it out the game as the soul survivor he has every right to dance before leaving.

  • Question to the oni mains who will naturally be drawn to this thread, how do you play Oni's power before you are a good at charging through loops and slamming 90 degree flicks ? I find it easier to run someone down with billies chainsaw than I find chasing with Oni's charge not to mention how long it takes to wind up a non charging smash, I can barely see what's infront of me when I'm holding the club in the air.
