  • The thing is, if you look at the slide for the "Battle Pass" you can clearly see that they state that you CAN access the paid track via playtime. So you can essentially get the skins for free when you play much.

I seriously don't see the problem here apart from that they should seriously start bundling some killers to the main game or so. But having the option to buy (which again you can acces via playtime) a battle pass to earn skins? Yup, the real problem

I honestly believe 3 minutes is too much time, especially when it can be slowed down via hooking a survivor. Most games I have wherein a gate is open and a survivor's hooked don't last longer than a minute because either the survivor gets rescued and everyone body blocks to the exit gate, or everyone just leaves and lets the hooked survivor die. I mean sure this stops the endgame hostage scenarios where toxic survivors t-bag and don't leave, but they technically can still do that for up to 2 minutes and 59 seconds. If the endgame collapse was 1 min 30 seconds that would make it feel more intense, put more pressure on everyone, and offer less room for toxicity or mistakes. I don't know, I guess we'll have to see it in action and test it out first before deciding whether or not 3 minutes is overkill or not.

Yeah, I'm also curious how long the slowdown is going to be. Worst case, Survivors will have 5+ minutes when they have downed/hooked teammates, making this whole change practically pointless.

  • "Please note that Ash J. Williams is available in the in-game store with Auric Cells. Purchasing Ash in the in-game store will not unlock the exclusive cosmetic

DLC will be rolling in about 1h on all platforms (It includes Ash J. Williams and an exclusive cosmetic)"

I think she hums because her terror radius is smaller. Plus i think when a survivor hears her humming, you don't know where she's coming from until you actually see her. So her humming is basically something that's supposed to throw survivors off from which direction she's coming from. You can turn a corner trying to hide but actually end up running into her.

Wrong, the humming is directional. You can tell from where it is coming (although at least on PS4 it seems a bit buggy lately, I sometimes don't hear her humming and only know she is there when I hear her heartbeat).

While I don't think that the humming hinders you drastically in hearing survivors, an option to turn it off when playing the killer would be great. As cool as the song is, it gets damn annoying real quick.

  • Would be stupid to give the survivor an unhook Attempt, you would be downed immediately. Making the killer wait until you die simply because why not is simply unneccessary. But, like others have already said, give the survivor the struggle points he would normally get. I seriously can't understand why they haven't implemented that.
  • I play both, although I like killer more than survivor. Although survivor is way less stressful and easier than killer, I get annoyed or bored real fast. I play almost exclusively solo survivor and you either get matches were you have survivors that know what they are doing and the gens are done in 5 minutes even with ruin or you have survivors on your team that make you think: "How did they get past rank 19?"

Just had a P3 Dwight who starts the match by going in a locker and comes out when he notices that the huntress is chasing me (knew that because I use bond). Would be fine, a bit cowardly given how strong survivors are but fine. What was not fine is that he saw that I was looping the huntress around a pallet and instead of doing the smart thing of "I run away and do another gen" he runs to me and wants to run the loop with me. That of course gave me an unnecessary hit... Gladly the huntress prefered to hit the Dwight next and followed him instead of me. How is it possible to get to rank 4, prestige your character three times (hadn't looked for his perks, so no idea if he got any teachables) and still be sooo bad at this game?

With killer I have to concentrate and can't have any distractions because I have to hear moans and footsteps and such, which makes it less chill than survivor, with the only benefit being that these idiots aren't on my team anymore... Sadly they are mostly not in my killer games either.

  • I only have nicknames for a select few:

Hillbilly: Billhilly (yeah, real creative, I know xD)
Doctor: Doesn't have a nickname, but I named his Illusion Frank.
    Cannibal: Camperface
    Freddy: Freddo
    Pig: Piggy

Huntress: Doesn't have a nickname from me, but my girlfriend tends to call her "Summ Summ" (from the german word "summen" which means humming)

  • Her power definitely seems underwhelming. Maybe there are ways to use her power effectively that are not so obvious? But from what I could see so far, you would have to take Predator with you to make it somewhat easier to follow the tracks, which would mean you would have to use a perk for the power. Apart from that she looks like a Wraith that can't sneak up on survivors.

Yes; but i fear the game will no longer be as popular; and they will stop after this road map is complete?

They probably wont have another road map for next year, maybe?

They will obviously do another road map for next year. If you look to the top left, you can read "Year 3 Road Map". When we reached the end of the road map, it won't be year 3 any more, so we'll get a road map for year 4.

  • Just shows how thoroughly behaviour tests stuff for their unloved stepchild. They don't even want our money! Not to mention that, at least for me on PS4, the new cosmetics aren't even available in a collection, only for individual purchase. Pretty good job so far, indeed pretty good job so far! /s

Try telling your friends It's going to be fixed and they should try it out with you at the Start of next week when everything (hopefully) is just working like it had been on the 6th.

With how long they took releasing the curtain call chapters, don't expect the problem to be solved until september. Now that they have fixed it for PC, it's a low priority for Behaviour. They don't care for the console version.

Server issues are different from certification processes. They will be able to resolve the situation quicker than the Curtain Call release debacle for console.

It's different, yeah. A normal company could fix something like that by the end of the week. But we're talking about behaviour, if you can think of something that goes wrong, behaviour will make it happen and one up it.

I honestly believe that due to how simple the solution can be, they will make the necessary changes quickly. I'm trying to be optimistic

Wish I could be optimistic, but the clown debacle drained every optimism from me.

I mean, who could have predicted that many people log in during an event AND when the game becomes basically free on a plattform? They could have never predicted something like that, it is totally out of their hands, so why should they give us compensation? /s

  • I'd say that the middle ranks can be the more frustrating ones as a survivor. While I don't play survivor enough to reach rank 1, I can see so far that around rank 10 it gets harder and frustrating as a survivor. While yes, you have brain dead teammates, at least you get irdiescent lightbringer very easily because you are the only one doing gens. Most times the killers aren't that great, which makes getting evader easy as well. It feels for me that me piping (or at least black piping) isn't that much dependent on my teammates.

If you rank up, I sometimes get the feeling that, while the killers get better, my teammates stay the same. You get people that hide in a locker in the basement for two gens before they even think about doing something productive. Which is fine when the killer is bad and you can easily juke him without even trying. This scenario is not fine when you are not able to lose the killer and therefore loop him for quite some time while no progress on gens is being done.

But then you get a game where the killer is bad and you pip or even escape very easily despite these teammates. That's why I don't think there are "hardest" ranks for survivors, but there are more frustrating ones.

The problem is that we have a melee focused game here. The way the game is in it's current state, it doesn't matter where you hit the survivor, you do always the same damage. In Deathgarden your damage varies depending on where you hit the enemy (headshot) and how many bullets you actually hit.
In Dead by Daylight, the killer would deal the same damage every time, so for example let's imagine the survivor has 100 HP and a killer hit does 50HP damage. From the killers standpoint there is no way with the current hit detection that you would ever do less or more damage on the survivor. The only way that you could have these escapes with a sliver of health, in the current state of the game, would be that you could heal different amounts of HP depending on the length.
That would buff Self-Care and healing in general because why should I heal to full when I am also a two hit when I have 51HP? So, the hit detection would have to be changed so that the killer could do varying damage depending on where he would hit the survivor which may be possible but with the current hit detection we have right now, I doubt that system would work.

Basically, the whole game had to be restructured so that this would work. This would imo complicate the game unneccessarily and would require too many ressources for basically a handful of "OMG! I escaped with 1 HP"-moments. So, no thanks, I like the health system as it is now.

There's not really a problem with the melee system or the health system. Its literally only the pallet looping which ruins the game. That makes the killers camp I guess

I think you missunderstood me. I wasn't saying that if we fix the current melee and health system than this game would be balanced or that there was any need to fix them at all.
For the health system that OP proposed to come into the game we would have to change many other things in the game to make it work because just getting it into the game right now would be pointless because we would trade health state icons for meaningless numbers. The devs would have to rework how healing works and how hits work to make it worthwhile.
But even then the devs couldn't just put this system along with rework hit detection in the game. With the current state, Survivors can prolong the chase quite some time. Now imagine that you didn't land your correctly (or more likely, given how everything else in this game works, you hit the head but the game says you hit the foot) and the survivor doesn't take enough damage to go down in two hits. This would extend the chases even further! The reverse would be also true, were a killer that can aim really well could one shot kill any survivor with any killer, depending on how "headshots" would work.
Like I said, this would in my opinion, unneccessarily complicate the game and would need too much work to make it worthwhile.

Does the chances of unhooking yourself increase by 4% every time you try to escape or does it just stay 4%. I was using slippery meat and I unhooked myself so I wanted to know if that helped.

I think it stays 4% and just grants an extra attempt. I think it only increased chances of getting out of Bear traps..

I always thought that the bear trap escape chances were always like this:
Survivor when I am killer: Untrap during the running animation without any velocity loss.
When I am survivor: Untrap only due to the killers influence.

But seriously, according to the wiki slippery meat increses untrap odds by 15/20/25% and gives you 1/2/3 extra attempts (all depending on the level of the perk). So, unless you use any luck offerings/perks the chance for unhooking yourself is always 4% for each attempt.

  • I really hate tunneling! You should be banned for it, it is toxic and requires no skill! Have you ever thought about the poor individual that suffers because of your tunneling? It is just not fun!

Every game there is that stupid tunneler. Only sits on this one gen and tunnels it until it is done. There are more than one gen you know! How about you get up after 50% of the gen done instead of tunneling this poor gen to death completion.

    ...

Oh, wait. You are talking about this ridiculous "You should hunt the guy with full health instead of the injured one just because full health guy is teabagging in front of you"-Tunneling. Not toxic, just the smart thing to do.

  • Basically: Getting shards is now tied to your player level. You gain EXP for playing matches and everytime you level up you get shards. If you get to level 100 you get reset back to level 1 and get a Devotion stage which basically does nothing.

  • Half an hour later and the update is here (at least in Germany). Downloading it right now.

  • At this point I wouldn't even be surprised if they would say that they were on time with the patch, because they obviously didn't specify which year the patch drops. They are still on deadline on July 5th 2019!

  • I am more surprised that we all came to believe that these devs would be capable of doing something so minor as activating an update. I mean it's hard, you know! You have to have several degrees before you can even think about something like that!

Why only NA? Are PS4's not available outside of NA?

Because EU gets the clown dlc around the time of the Bloodhunt (+ - a couple of hours, depending where you live, since the dlc drops on midnight local time, while the hunt starts at midnight UTC). No idea how it is in countries that don't belong to NA or EU, we got no information about them (although I'd guess that Australia and New Zealand get it around the same time as EU? What branch of Sony is in charge of these countries?)

    My Idea for Camping:
If the Killer is closer than 24Meters (Not the Heartbeat, since they just counter it with insidious) the Hooked Survivor dont lose his Life... so that means if the Killer does not leave the Survivor, he cant die on the Hook. Leave him, let him be rescued and hook him again. Than Probably Campers will switch to Tunnler but... at least a survivor has a Chance to play a bit longer... not die on his first hook cuz Killers have no balls

Like others have already said, it was already tried and abused.

But even than this has some very glaring weaknesses. Let's say for example we have a smaller map like the autohaven one that always has the shack in the middle of the map (I seriously can't remember the name...). You hang the survivor in the basement. Now a large part of the map is basically a safe zone and survivors get encouraged to simply go the shack right away, get spotted and then run the killer around it. So the killer gets punished for finding and chasing another survivor.

Or what if the survivors messed up gen placement big time and now one guy is hooked in the middle of a generator triangle. The killer would get punished for the survivors mistake and would have to get in a corner of the map. Survivors would have no incentive to get the guy down until they fixed the last gen because as long as the survivor is hanging there, the killer is basically being punished for doing his objective.

Again, they planned for this, and warned the community. They blatantly said that it would take around 2-3 additional weeks for console to get the update, and planned the re-opening of the shrine and the double bloodpoint weekend around that time frame.

I get people feeling left out, but everything points to BHVR planning for this delay and making it pretty obvious to the community that there would be one from the start. This is why, personally, I found the knee-jerk reactions to the delay to be ridiculous. It's not actually late until after the end of next week. Anytime prior to that is well within the time frame that BHVR stated.

They planned for this? Highly doubt it. They announced 4 days before the clown release that consoles would get it later. If they had really planned for this they would have told us sooner. It seems to me more like they finished the patch and then remembered that there is a certification process for consoles and submitted it late, resulting in this wait time.

If they had really planned this they would have had the DLC ready a month prior to release and would have used the PTB to look for bugs or balancing changes while certification was being done. As it was now, the PTB came way too late and it seemed that they barely got everything ready before the PTB release. This really makes me worried and I hope that they work on upcoming killers even before the next one is released, otherwise it seems highly likely that they won't finish the next killer, when it took them 5 months for the clown (but they can't be that stupid, right? Right?)

  • @JammyJewels said:

Also, off topic questions, I'd like to ask:

    Should I prestige my characters?
    +
Should I unlock all Killer teachables? I don't see much point to having them since I prefer survivor and the reduced reward for buying already owned perks in the Shrine.

I can't see that much use in the shrine now, I personally would rather get new cosmetics than the Bloodpoints for my shards (have all the Teachables unlocked already).

As far as prestiging goes: I personally always prestige my characters. It just feels like a waste to me to level over 50 on a non prestiged character. What if I want to prestige the character in the future? Then I'd have wasted bloodpoints (yeah, yeah, more items, addons, etc. but it still feels wasted to me). But that comes down to personal preference, especially now that you can get cosmetics in the store and the prestige outfits aren't the only outfits you can have (mostly concerning killers, survivors had quite a few things to choose from before the update, at least on pc)

Given the track record of the devs screwing things up, especially around bugs (unhook lag, multiple sound bugs, etc.) I wouldn't be surprised if they

a.) send in an old patch and didn't notice it for days
b.) made several completely obvious bugs that would break PSN/XBL, thus having to resend multiple patches
c.) completely forgot to even send in a patch which they only noticed several days later

This whole situation would be more forgivable if this was the first patch they release on console. But it is not. They know the drill, so they could have planned ahead and found a solution that made everyone happy but the way it is now, they simply pissed off a lot of their customers with their incompetence and destroyed the trust many had in their roadmap.

At this point, I'm not even mad anymore. We all were foolish for thinking that Behaviour would be able to keep their promise of "almost simultaneous" release of patches. We should have expected for them to fail, for they are Behaviour and are bound to make the most obvious mistakes. They should be glad that their game is niche enough that there are not many more competent developers competeing with them, while simulteneous being broad enough to gather a rather big fan base.

Man you guys are so toxic, thats incredible. Do you really think a Software/Game-Developer is that dumb?
not_Queen already said that the certification process could be longer because of the new store and the payment data Sony/MS "owns" so they have an interessest to Test/Certificate that. That needs time, Companies are working slow.

For me BHVR had 3 options:
    1) send Update to Sony/MS before PTB on PC Starts, to release simultaniously. You guys problably would go cracy because the bugs found in PTB would be in Console-Version for 1-2 Weeks
    2) hold PC update back untill Consoles are ready. Oh god you guys totally go crazy
    3) Do it like they did.

So for me, they just did one thing some of you hate them for, but they never could do it good for all.

Then please tell me why they couldn't send in the PTB build when the PTB launched and then hotfix the bugs right after the dlc launched? Freddy came with the unnerfed version which was almost immediately patched out with the nerfed version on console. If they could have done it back then, they could have done it now.

Because PTB stuff is only suppored by steam (thats the reason PTB is PC only btw)
They cant just send an unfinished patch to sony and say, hey guys check this one please, but we will change it in a week or two again, but please take a look now so that it doesnt take so long later

Cant compair with freddy patch because there was no payment stuff involved

What was unfinished about the PTB patch? The clown was in and functioned like he does now, the shop was in and functioned like it does now. The only big change that I can see is that they didn't include the hatch mechanic (which shouldn't be so hard to extract that from the PTB Patch and put it in) and that they changed out the voice actor of Kate. Apart from that there were only numerical changes regarding the powers of the clown as well as some bugs. All stuff that they could and should hotfix anyway if they would put that live.

Also, Sony and MS don't care if the patch has bugs regarding the game. Their only concern is that there are no bugs or exploits that could hurt the PSN/Xbox Live.

So yeah, they could have done it but they just didn't plan ahead or just didn't care. Either way, this whole thing doesn't put them in a good light.

Have you ever tried the PTB patch? There was countless bugs, missing textures on the map, sometimes the shack invisible etc etc.
Why do you think they have a PTB? yes for TESTING purposes, otherwise they could instantly release it as live build

Yeah, there were bugs that got fixed thanks to finding them in the PTB. But those could get hotfixed right away. The console certification proccess is not for ensuring that there are no ingame bugs, otherwise we wouldn't have gotten things like the glorious unhook lag bug. So again, the could have easily submitted the PTB build, get it certified and then hotfix the bugs.

All of this comes down to planning and possibly money (the certification is not free). And the people wouldn't be that outraged if they hadn't promised us almost simultaneous releases of new dlc and manage to [BAD WORD] that up with the first dlc they release now that they are publisher free. Really makes them look trustworthy, right? I mean don't promise something you can obviously not keep.

So you are suggesting to release the ######### build as live release on console? As long as PC players keep their good live build and switch to PTB for testing pruposes where they deal with gamebreaking bugs, I dont care because I am a PC player.

BUt I can guarantee you that if they did this, then all console players would start rioting because of the gamebreaking bugs

Yes as you said, on console you do not easily iterate patches on a daily basis (money+time), so you basically answered your own question^^

I guarantee you, when the patch drops there will be game breaking bugs regardless of when they would submit the patch (remember unhook lag? Really hard to replicate bug, they couldn't have found that in a million years before the patch went live!). My point stands: Behaviour could have done this better, but they simply don't care and now try to point at Sony and Microsoft to hide their laziness.

b.) made several completely obvious bugs that would break PSN/XBL, thus having to resend multiple patches
c.) completely forgot to even send in a patch which they only noticed several days later

And the people wouldn't be that outraged if they hadn't promised us almost simultaneous releases of new dlc and manage to ######### that up with the first dlc they release now that they are publisher free. Really makes them look trustworthy, right? I mean don't promise something you can obviously not keep.

I'm also playing on PS4 but can't find any input lag or lag in general while playing survivor (killer is another story but there are mostly just small hiccups) and that makes it definitely not harder to hit great skill checks.

Let me guess, you've only played this game on PS4, right?

Nope, I also played it on PC before it came out on console, then switched over to console because I prefer to game on console.

  • Just let the killer camp, it's a valid and obvious strategy which has a surprisingly easy counter to it: Just do gens. Only the hardcore campers that enjoy camping for campings sake will continue to camp when camping results in an "Entity displeased" screen and a lost pip. The only problem why this will never happen is that survivors are plainly too stupid to get it.
Just today I had a game where a hag camped someone. You would think that after you got hit and she lets you run away because she wants to protect the hook, you would simply go away and do gens. But this would be intelligent, so of course the other two survivors wouldn't do that. They'd rather drop everything they were doing and try to get the unhook, which resulted in of course 3 dead survivors, one gen to do and an easy hatch escape for me.
Now tell me: Why shouldn't the hag camp next time as well? Apparently camping results in gens not progressing which is something you want as killer. So yeah, good job enforcing that behaviour. The same can be said for survivors that kill themselves on the hook when they get camped. If survivors really hated camping that much they wouldn't always reward camping but apparently survivors like camping killers. Why else would they give them an easy win?

  • There already is a way to combat camping: Just do Gens.
But if the other survivor are just sitting beside the hook and are waiting and basically taking all the pressure from the killer, yeah, why shouldn't he camp?

I'm also playing on PS4 but can't find any input lag or lag in general while playing survivor (killer is another story but there are mostly just small hiccups) and that makes it definitely not harder to hit great skill checks.
Not that you really need to do great skill checks to punish a camper (given that he doesn't run ruin). Without great skill checks, gens take 80 seconds to be finished when you work on it alone. You alone can do a gen and a quarter (given about 15 seconds for going from one gen to the next) within the two minutes it takes for the survivor to be sacrificed. If the other two aren't brain dead and camp the hook, hoping the killer leaves, that makes almost 4 gens done (and that's everything without greats) and I kinda doubt that the survivor that gets camped spawned on the hook with the killer right next to him, so he probably gave you guys even more time.

If you are randoms, you can't say for sure that the killer is camping right away unless the hooked runs kindred or we all would finally agree that flailing with your arms on the hook means the killer is camping. But let's suppose the hooked doesn't do anything to signal to you that the killer is camping. Just finish the gen that should be almost finished, you have enough time to rescue the survivor, then run to the hook. If you notice heartbeat then yeah he probably camps or a stupid teammate is running the killer around the hook. Either way, don't run to the hook, continue doing gens.

If the other survivors are not doing gens to counter a camper, then they are simply part of the problem. Just stop rewarding campers and only the people that simply enjoy camping for camping's sake while continue to camp and I'd wager that these people are a minority.

I can't count the times where I get hooked, camped and my "teammtes" literally stop doing everything and just sit there, waiting. That makes me more mad at the other survivors than at the killer. Why shouldn't the killer camp when the whole game comes to a stop while the killer camps? Survivors basically create a mechanic for the killer in which he just needs to stand in one point and no generator progress can be achieved. Seriously, just stop feeding campers and you will only see the occasional one.
