There should be a mutual loyalty. Where older players have supported BHVR and remained loyal (despite their rocky moments), there should be a similar sense of loyalty towards them. There should be a form of compensation for those who managed to grab an exclusive back in the early days of DBD because it demonstrates their love and dedication for a game that's had many ups and downs. I don't think exclusives are the be-all end-all of someone's love and dedication for the game but for many it is in a way. It's a meaningful way to remind them that "I was there when it started" so by doing this it just seems like their loyalty to the game means nothing.
Companies dont have loyalty, they have owners and shareholders who wants to make money off you.
You dont like what a company is doing ? Dont give them your money then.

well just imagine putting 100 percent in to an event, then the flood gates open and here come the comlainers with their pitch forks and torches....then imagine trying again, putting maybe 8 percent in and then oh lordy low and behold here they come again....maybe the devs just sort of feel deflated?
I think the devs see how much more money a simple skin provides and choose not to bother with fixing anything at this point, skins and battle pass makes money for them.
I'm afraid this is a point in dbd where things will spiral down and the devs will just milk the community for as long as possible with 10$ skins.
-
Maybe the events truly were getting worse over time then and the complaints are justified ?
And instead of doing a better job the entirity of events is now cancelled and we get more skins for 10$, great deal yeah.
-
Loyal to what ?
A company ?
A brand ?
Come on.

well i don't know i meam if there wasn't so many complaints i feel they wouldn't of done this
It was always about the money, if bhvr could charge ppl for participating in the events and many ppl bought it they would continue them.
They probably make more money from 1 skin from a popular surv/killer than an entire event would give.
-

BHVR said it's because it's too much effort etc, too much time yet i think it's from the moaning minnies.
Yeah, no. It literally says: "taking up time that could be spent fixing bugs and creating new content that’s available year-round"
Meaning they are focusing all their energy on skins and more battle pass, fun events dont generate that much extra money, more skins does. Its just greed its all.

...You..you do realize thoughts and concepts can extend beyond a literal definition?
If you can't enjoy something because of how someone else earned it; you self-absorbed. You're selfish. You're basing your enjoyment on the means of someone else and acting like you matter more.
It's called a 'concept'. You know 'an abstract idea; a general notion.'

They didn't earn it.

What do you want...? TF2 and CSGO level 500 dollar cosmetics? Gross.
I want some cosmetics to actually mean something. Not only that u had 10$ around you didn't need or just purchased the game on steam.
But that you participated in an event at some point in this games history and you got something to show from it. Giving it to everyone makes it meaningless.
-
@Peanits said:
There's two main reasons:
- Loss of progress. There is an issue where early event cosmetics would sometimes disappear due to an error. We would have to manually re-apply them to each person one by one, which can take quite a while. Often times we would get a surge of those tickets and it would make a huge backlog of tickets, slowing down support across the board.
- There's no way to get them. Lately, we've started to make sure that things are available to everyone. The Hallowed Blight and Withering Blight events are a good example of this; you play, you earn event currency, you trade that currency in for cosmetics. Missed the event but really want a particular outfit? You can grab it from the store. This way you can earn it for free, but you're not totally out of luck if you miss the event.
The simple version is because we want a clean slate. We want to make sure that everyone has the same opportunity to earn them going forward.
As for legacy, we're not looking to re-release that because we have promised in the past that it wouldn't be returning. We don't want to go back on that promise if at all possible.
If you go through with this you should just sell legacy skins in the store as well, no point trying maintain some illusion of special microtransactions in this game.

"Especially if you looped the killer for 3 minutes and your teammates did squat"
What are the devs supposed to do about that? Add a mechanic that forces your team mates to do gens?
If you looped the killer for 3 minutes that's good on you, but if your teammates didn't complete any gens in that time, that's their fault, not the devs.
It sounds like you had a streak of bad luck because I've only encountered 1 mori in the last 20 games, and I'm not even exaggerating.
Maybe devs could add a survivor perk that automaticly repair a random generator when survivor is in chase and starts after 15 sec (like bloodlust) and finished repairing a generator after 2 min ?

Toolboxes and Medkits are just as viable as before, what are you talking about ?
Not as good as beofre that is the whole point now that u see more keys instead of a more variety of items being used.
Keys are not nerfed yet that why

With the reworked instaheals, it was only natural that everyone and their mother in law move on to the next best thing. And now we're seeing them rise.
Fighting fire with fire in the form of Moris don't seem to be a good idea, as you're just helping them get the hatch faster.
Running Franklin's Demise, hitting a survivor reduces the charge of an item by x% seems to be a mix bag because as a survivor you don't really use the key anyways and you could have 1% and it'll still be able to open the hatch as its a one time use item.
So instead of whining and asking for nerfs lets discuss what we can do about them with the tools we already have in the game?
Now that every other survivor item has been nerfed to basicly uselessness you are suprised surv are running the !only! viable item thats left for them ?

Lately, I have been seeing many posters and streamers talking about various aspects of DBD (spirit, NOED) as not being fun. This usually leads to people asking for nerfs.
The problem is that fun is way too subjective. I, as killer, do not have “fun” getting looped and genrushed etc... but I’m not going to ask for nerfs based on that. Rarely do people have fun when they lose, which means salt should probably be disregarded and not used as feedback. Just a thought.
Yea it is.
Its a game.
A game is supposed to be fun, why else would you spend your time on it ?

Neither of those killers need nerfs, billy can still be looped and as for Freddy, his slowdown isn’t very good if you camp pallets. Just loop if he uses fake pallets.
Endlessly throwing down traps and fake pallets is broken. Give it a cooldown or unable to place a new one when all is out (also reduce max number of traps/pallets)
Global teleport is too strong (limit range or make it so u cant cancel when u use it)
No terror radius is too strong.
I can go on but nvm, thsi is just a small sample of how too strong freddy is

Genrush is real, yes it's your only objective but you can do it in 4 minutes even if the killer is good. That isn't fair.
And the only broken killer is Spirit. Nobody needs nerfs after that, just buffs.
Genrush is not real. Made up term from killer mains.
Freddy is broken.
Billy could use a adjustment.

Nope. Your friends can easily genrush.

No such thing as genrush, but broken killers we have a few off.

@Spirit_Hag said:
So im hoping this doesnt turn into too hot of a debate, but i have seen quite a few threads on how op the spirit allegedly is and how the devs say shes 'overperforming'. First off, im a bit confused as to why 'over performing' is a bad thing. You designed a killer that performs their job well and thats........bad?
Secondly, if you nerf her to bridge the gap between them and the other killers....wont we be stuck with just a bunch of 'meh' killers that wont have a good chance to perform well at red ranks? Seems to me, since people are so sick of seeing her at red ranks, that the best thing to do would be to buff other killers powers to be more viable allowing for more variety at red rank. Then you'll see less spirit and people probably wont be so harsh on her because they wont see her as often.
Lastly, i feel if you nerf her and bring her down to the other killers, wont it affect red rank queue times? With the number of viable red rank killers dwindling, i potentially see killers playing until purple rank then switching to survivor instead of playing into red rank due to the difficulty level and strong red rank swf. And after spirit, whos next? Billy? Hag? When does it end?
In conclusion, i feel like nerfing spirit may seem like it solves one problem, but could create so many more in the long run. Bring other killers to more viable levels and that seems to be the better idea, in my opinion.
Whats yours?
She is not fun to play against, these coin flips sucks and takes away any player interaction in a match with Spirit in it.
Defending this broken concept of a killer is no good, broken killer "overperforming" (just a nice way of saying overpowered) needs to get toned down and adjusted.

Flashlights wont get buffed, literally every item or addon that was good for survivor except keys have been nerfed.
You should use your keys now while they still do something useful and not inventory waste of space.

I see how your argument basically has no real points being argued, man.
You've done nothing but argue semantics and then boil my argument down to the point that you missed every point.
Just stop. You're trying to argue in favor of people who ruin the game for other people. That's not a side anyone should be on. Everyone should want a healthier game.
I do want a healthier game also, i just dont think punishing players is a good way to do it. (beatings continue until morale increase)
If u were to ask players why things happen (probably not soo much as this thread thinks it happens)
- Spirit, very problematic and unfun to play against
- prayer beads
- freddy is too strong way too much utility with zero downsides ("mindgames but not realy")
- continuing nerfs of survivor gameplay with less and less items to use
- stale meta perks who dont change cos other perks arent buffed and dlc perks sucks
That should cover about 80% of making the game better

I already pointed out why your argument is wrong in my starting post. Just because it's part of the gameplay loop does not mean it's not being abused to dodge DC punishments while still gaining the effect of DCing.
No matter what you say; it's still, in effect, disconnecting. Even if it's not LITERALLY disconnecting. it's the same end result, so arguing 'They are allowed to do it!' is not fine. It's still wrong.
That's the whole reason for this thread; because it's a loophole allowing for disconnects that aren't disconnects.
Disconnects that arent disconnects you say....
So its not a disconnect. And you want to punish players for not disconnecting. But you also want to be able to force them to stay as long as you want them to.
You see how all this arent really constructive?

You fix the DC issue because (just like every game in existence) this is a common problem.
Then if things switch to "everyone suicide on first hook" you find a way to tackle that too. You cannot ignore resolving one issue because another might pop up.
@Peanits - Do you have anything you can tell us about how this DC epidemic will be addressed with the dedicated servers being release? I think it is pretty obvious that the current "threshold" method does next to nothing to stem the amount of people who are DCing regularly. Not to sound like a "negative Nancy" but I'm surprised its not been a primary focus thus far, or if it is that the community has heard nothing about it.
If "everyone" kill themself on first hook, then theres something wrong with the game, not the players.
But touching spirit or freddy or spirit beads or letting survivors have usable tools like medkits and flashlight is not an option (so far) so here we are.

You know what? You're doing nothing but arguing 'They showed up, so they can quit'
There's nothing to argue there. You are literally saying they should be allowed to leave the match without doing something because they allowed it to happen via game mechanics.
That's what I mean by 'abusing a loophole'. The end result is someone bailing early and screwing over their teammates. They still DC'd in everything but pure literal action.
Don't defend that. You're defending the toxic players that ruin the game.
You argued against yourself in your first post and "won".
Its not a loophole or a DC, Death on hook is part of the gameplay.
If you think there is something wrong with the gameplay that causes players to die "early" then that would be a more constructive discussion.
-
@Centrum said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/788377#Comment_788377
I'm talking about people who delibratly die on first hook to avoid PLAYING THE MATCH.
They did not 'play the match and die' or they would not be the problem.
They literally did, got caught hooked and died. game over.
"When you log in, you accept that a Killer (or Survivor, for you DCing Killers) will use a person/perk(s) you don't like. Grow a freaking pair and accept it or stop logging in"
Accept that death on hook is part of the gameplay you so much want others to think about.
-
@Centrum said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/788373#Comment_788373
If you delibratly die on the first hook to leave a game early, you screw over your team the same as if you disconnected.
They are not LITERALLY the same but they equate to the same result. So don't argue semantics on this one; you won't win.
No, u dont disconnect. u played a match and died, killers are supposed to kill remember.
If people think there is a "underlying problem" to why death on 1st hook happen then adress that, complaining that ppl die on the hook wont fix anything.
-
@Centrum said:
I have to say it again; If you suicide on your first hook because you don't like a Killer, or a Killer's perks: You are disconnecting.
You are abusing a loophole to avoid punishment, but you are disconnecting.
Don't bother saying 'It's not the same because..' because IT IS THE SAME.
Disconnecting:
Leaving the match because you hate the Killer/Perk(s) being used. This screws over your team early on. It also denies the Killer a large amount of bloodpoints because it's one less Survivor to chase & hook 2-3 times.
First Hook Suicide:
Leaving the match because you hate the Killer/Perk(s) being used. This screws over your team early on. It also denies the Killer a large amount of bloodpoints because it's one less Survivor to chase & hook 2-3 times.
Huh. When I put it that way, it's almost like people who first-hook suicide are the same people that would outright DC if it were not a bannable offense. 🤔🤔🤔🤔
And don't get me started on the BS, self-centered argument that 'games are supposed to be FUN, and my fun matters more than 4 other people's fun!'
When you log in, you accept that a Killer (or Survivor, for you DCing Killers) will use a person/perk(s) you don't like. Grow a freaking pair and accept it or stop logging in. You don't matter more than 4 other people ALSO trying to have fun.
If this little self-centered argument had ANY weight, DCing would not be banned in the first place.
Don't bother trying to argue it; you're wrong. First Hook Suicides are exactly like DCing while having the bonus of abusing a technicality to avoid punishment. The intent behind it is the same for both; leaving as fast as possible, screwing over your teammates & the Killer in the process.
The reason I made this post? Because, when servers go live, and DCing is more heavily punished, we will see an upsurge in first-hook suicides. DC bans will do nothing to change the underlying problem, only the method with which they do it. I want Devs to be aware of this, so they can properly combat the problem.
If u die on the first hook then thats what happen, u dont dc wich is a completely different thing.

Some options, open to opinions and ideas

- bonus auric cells, again most likely not this is basically money
- Bonus bloodpoints, now this costs them nothing but there are also a lot of players who have no real use so doesn’t help them much
Again, I don’t think they have to give us anything but as a gesture do you think you would if you made the call?
They should refund everyone who purchased the ASH DLC first with this MoM nerfing.
Either in cash or converted to bp.
1 USD = 100.000 bp

They have killed:
Medkit
Flashlight
Toolbox
So of course a killer main would want the last item survivor has to be nerfed as well, right?

@wimlin said:
Honest question. Survivor perks seem to get nerfed all the time in this game in the name "balance" but killer perks never get nerfed no matter how powerful they are. MoM was not that big of a deal and I rarely ran it, but now its just another of the many completely useless perks. The DS nerf was even bigger, but at least that is sort of anti-tunnel now I guess? Seriously though it does seem like the killer community is much more vocal in this game and they seem to always get their way. It is no wonder the queue time suck so bad and why I rarely play killer even though its easy mode at least at mid to high ranks. The only challenge is waiting for a game.
I've played off and on for a while and I can't understand why the game still isn't balanced at all. The main issue I'm talking about is playing SWF vs. running solo. SWF games(when my friends do play) I can sport an 80-90% win/escape ratio, but solo its 15-20% maybe and honestly if I don't survive usually no one in the game survives. I would estimate a full 80% of non SWF games end with the killer getting 4 kills. Everyone always talks about camping like JUST DO GENS AND WIN EZ. But is it for a non SWF game? Sure in SWF a camper will pretty much always just get 1 kill, but in solo games camping is pretty much an automatic win for killer because by the time other survivors know a camp is occurring its really too late to get on gens and win the game. I propose to combat this situation the Devs either make voice chat available for survivors to even the playing field for non SWF or make it only in non SWF games so that the sacrificial timer either dramatically slows or altogether stops when a killer is within X meters of the hook. Maybe even make it a perk so we lose a perk slot for it, but something anti camp besides just kindred which has a short range we can run.
Camping is totally fine in SWF, because you can counter it, but in NON SWF it is game breaking and something should be done to make it a losing strategy in both instances not just SWF. I know I'm about to get flamed by the toxic killer community here(most toxic community I've seen in 20 years of online gaming anywhere), but every survivor main know camping is the biggest issue in this game for non SWF players. The DEVs should do something to discourage it. I'm not saying against the rules, but just make it so it isn't such a great winning strategy vs non SWF. There has to be something you can do to balance it out and make the game fun to play even when a killer decides to camp. I know it isn't the killers job to make the game fun, but it IS THE job of the devs if they want people to keep playing. I'm not saying that survivors should escape every game or even 70% of the time, but there should be balance between SWF and non SWF.
Killers cry harder than survs do.
It is that simple.
Or most of the devs play killer themselves, like how in wow the devs played mage so mage would always be good.
But there clearly is a bias in this game and its a problem.

You're a classic surv main just as I'm a classic killer "main" (50/50 player here). You assume m1 killers can travel the map after seeing two different survs working on two different gens and stop that. It is IMPOSSIBLE to stop that.
Killers do not want "easy wins" we want fair matches.
Well first off BBQ should be adjusted to not give vision.
Second, no killers should be able to instant travel the map anyways.
That is balance.

This is why its pointless discussing with killer mains. They just want an easy win no matter what they do.
