I actually had a scenario where a single dead hard turned the game around and was very demoralizing to say the least after fighting through all of the other meta perks.

It was during a stream so I'll have to find the match, but I think this is a good discussion to have since I have an example for it's use.

    Is it unfair?

    I'm not so sure.

The problem isn't that Dead Hard can be used for distance or erase a mistake, it's that Survivors have several perks that erase mistakes or can be used "offensively" against the Killer's objective.

The issue comes down to time and efficiency for the killer, so any perk that takes time away from the killer allowing Survivors to spend more uninterrupted time on gens can become very problematic when used in conjunction.

Which is exactly why the Survivor meta is the way it is right now.

Sounds like you wrote my next video for me lol

See i understand when you put it that way with all the survivor 2nd chance perks stacked in one game. I as a solo mostly run one exhaustion perk unless I'm trying something fun here or there. I have had to leave DH behind because of my previous statement but I like DBD set up just think when stacked for sure makes it hard and I don't have any idea in how to fix that other than limiting people's options. Which I'm hesitant on cause I think every individual should play how they want. Open to your ideas in the next video though

  • I dont find Slinger to be oppressive but I can say as a consoler when I load in against a huntress, slinger, or nurse from pc I definitely get nervous...I personally feel there is a way to beat each killer if the team works well together...everyone brings up ADS, I don't see it as a problem I just think some people are really good with aim compared to others(very evident with k&m). I don't think they should touch him imo even though I'm not the best against him, just need more practice at looping him

  • I personally don't use DH anymore since crossplay was added I can't get the timing right and I'm exhausted on the ground...lag or whatever has changed. I do think it's fair, I just can't make it work properly and to the people who can "props." I like the idea of the perk and don't think it needs to be touched, although it would be nice if it was usable again atleast in my case

The difference is that people on the internet have no idea as to what you are in terms of gender/race/whatever, and talk smack to vent. This cult of personality that tries to ban people for insulting you over a video game is quite ridiculous. I am against silencing people that are talking smack as is known to happen in video games (you can't change the internet). The internet does not need to be a nanny state safe-place like how the rest of western civilization is becoming. Let people talk #########, and if you can't handle the heat then turn off game chat, it really isn't that hard.

You and I are a different breed than the others I see that frequent the forums 😎

    1. attacking others on here is unnecessary.
    2. Speculation about other forum members gets no one anywhere, and is a waste of your own time and whomever your speculations are about.

How did I insult orion? I don't agree he brought FACTS and so did I, if you don't like it sorry, facts are facts, right?

I don’t kno that BBq really even needs a nerf or a rework.

    Godot mentioned:

“killer perk that's always in every killer's build”

and I immediately thought of how I see killers running BBq in majority of matches.

The whole nerf this buff that back and forth convo gets stale after while. Continual buffing and nerfing has only led to more continual buffing and nerfing.

    Doesn’t seem overly productive, imo.

Nicely said, I don't like the back and forth either

Losing I don't care, it's them I don't like! This kind of team always save their friends, but with Bubba the camp is extremely difficult, maybe fatal for the SWF... I refused to play with Bubba because I found him strong in the camp, too strong, it incited me to camp... Today the game is difficult, for me Bubba is my main one today. If the team is not toxic I let it go, if it is toxic it will end up on the hook.

This kind of team, I often come across... bodyblock, flash, parchment (all totems destroys), loop, click click, tbag, perks DS DH... I understand what you're saying but I've already tried it, randoms teams normally succumb... SWFs end up escaping. With Bubba I've already had red rank 1 teams before, that's why I've just started a game, and I hope to find them again !🤗

Keep up the killing we need all that we can get....do whatever you have to, to get those Swf! I totally understand what your saying and keep up the good work

BBq is in contention for “always in every killer’s build”... perhaps almost always, as I encounter it approximately 95% of the time.

Almost seems like killers feel they need their Bbq in order to have a legitimate cookout... idk, Never use it, personally.

I never use bbq unless I'm grinding for bp....otherwise I never use it and it's never been apart of my favorite builds....what's your nerf for it? it's a basic perk that has tons of counter play so I don't think BHVR will ever touch that one

  • @Jill10230 said:

That's 5 games.. click click, tbag, keys, abusive perks... I played Trapper, then Spirit, I never camped and always won, but here it was all red ranks (i'm purple) with mic and rush gens more DS, DH.. impossible to camp bodyblock, flashlight etc... And then you want to nerve the Spirit? Are you kidding???

Ok, Bubba can't be nervous now, perfect! Now I'm going to do it like this, I hook someone and he won't come out, toxic 100%. I invite all the people revolted by the RUSH GEN and those toxic survivors to buy Bubba, it's the best killer camp (need good perk like antibodyblock, flashlight..) !

We agree, 4 gens in 4 minutes of play, even with pressure, it's unrealistic ! Buy Bubba people, you won't regret it !🤗

So I see you had a rough few games...I can get swf stacks frustrating but I think maybe if some people give ya some tips on combating those "Evil" survivors. I do know your a purple rank so your not new but I'll try to give some advice. First don't think you need bubba for camping and rather accept ya might lose and try to get as many hooks as possible. You don't have to camp, make a plan with your perk build(early game, chase, end game, gen builds)ask around many good players are here. I'm not a great spirit but(I don't know what perks you unlocked) try, Corrupt Intervention, pop goes the weasel, tinkerer, sloppy butcher....that's just one basic build but she has many builds that support her well. Now trapper vs. a swf, you might be in trouble...maybe look up Otz on youtube....I understand when people become frustrated they fall back to camping 1 at a time and hope they hook dive but really you won't get better playing that way. Now I've said all this but I missed the 4 gens in 4 minutes...WELL that sounds like an optimal swf team that people say is RARE...if you play consistently at night you will find them everyday...it can be a struggle but don't resort to the face camping bubba, it will effect your overall skill and build bad habits....see ya in the fog

Tough love does not work, and does not make you stronger.

Foster care gave me PTSD. Not a super strong mental state. Don't tell people to grow a spine, grow up. Stop acting like a teenager and understand that people hurt for different reasons. And that trauma does NOT always make you better.

Whats good for you is FOR YOU...my life is different from yours I can tell, some people are born softer than others I guess...so ya know my wife was in foster care and she isn't fragile. So your basis for being offended is opinionated

  • @Hameline said:

I got the game like a week ago, mybe a little more. I got to rank 8, I've been only playing survivor, but I'm still pretty bad and get in games with way better players. The problems isn't just getting ouplayed, I'm also being harrased by player cuz they say how can you be level 8... you so trash...and other thing you may imagine..... is it a way to reset my rank that isn't waiting till the 13th... or disconecting from games??? I've tried using survivors i didn't use but it makes it worse since now i don't even have decent perks. If there is no way to reset it,what else would you recomend? (Besides getting good at the game...i'm trying to but youtube videos may seen not enought 😭....)

So I only play solo and I would say, don't let chat after the match bother you...keep at it and your skills will improve. You can get a team to make it easier but I tend to believe playing solo allows you to become more competent on your own. Know when to help others and know when to just finish a gen, all that comes with time. I'm not the greatest and don't claim to be, I'm a r2 survivor but if I were to be honest I'm probably a true r5....chin up and push through the berating and you will succeed. It feels amazing to get a great game as a solo with other good players and even if you die, ya pip and feel good about the outcome because you earned every bp. Welcome to the fog!

I fully understand that some people have issues, problems that run so deep that they are vulnerable to ill-effects from things that do not bother the majority at all. Mental health issues are not much different, in this way, than other types of health issues. Consider all the people with a dangerous allergy to peanuts. A single peanut, or even traces of them in other foods or the air of a restaurant, can kill them. I feel sympathy for them, and understand that they must be vigilant and avoid a thing which is toxic for them. To the rest of us, it is just food. Do you see where I'm going with this?

I addressed this before and the OP found my direct, pragmatic approach to be toxic. Why am I not surprised? Many people have an allergy to the truth. From the start, I advised that if a mental health expert told the OP that the game could be bad for him/her, then perhaps following the advice of that expert would be a good idea. I don't have a therapist. I don't have a peanut allergy. Do you see where I'm going with that? In my many years, I've listened to people state things almost exactly like that of the OP. While I'm sure some of them were with the best of intentions, most of them were not. Such statements come with ulterior motives (too many for me to relate).

I could talk about how this line of thinking has been applied to Rock and roll, science, religion, politics, and so on but that would belabor the point. I'm going to narrow the focus to games and diversions. In the late 70s tabletop war gaming (toy soldiers) was transformed by a few enterprising souls into a new type of game. Mass battles with toy soldiers split off into small units which in turn evolved into role-playing games, going hand in hand with the popular rise and exposure of The Lord of the Rings in the United States. I'm talking, of course, about Dungeons & Dragons. If you were to combine all the essays and professional papers of the experts saying how role-playing games are dangerous for your mental health, you would have a hefty phone book. It turns out, that like anything else, role-playing is safe and fun for the vast majority of people, no matter how many things you massacre in the imaginary world. It is the people who already have a problem that should avoid it.

Sticking with the Lord of the Rings lesson, I think that games and diversions are like Lothlorien, the only problems you will find there are those you bring with you. This is also well-stated with the old saying, "where ever you go, there you are." I'm not trying to be toxic. I'm not trying to grandstand. I'm saying that people with problems should seek professional help, and follow the advice of their doctors. However, people who have problems should remember that these are THEIR problems, not ours. Dead by Daylight is a game, and an innocuous one at that. Blaming games for our problems, is not unlike the foolishness of blaming other people for our losses inside the game. Do you see where I'm coming from there? It is passing the buck. It is looking for a scapegoat. When I lose a game, "I" lost a game. If I have a issue in my real life, "I" have an issue in my real life. I take steps to deal with it.

What I'm going to suggest is that talking about mental health issues, which are serious, belongs in the Off Topic area. This is just my opinion. If people want to blame Dead by Daylight for their mental issues, well I suppose that makes it on topic here, but I think that does a disservice to the person stating it, the seriousness of the topic of mental issues, and is inviting people (like me) to point out (also with the best intentions) that most of us are NOT allergic to peanut butter.

You said it far better than I could. I've had trouble expressing my thoughts on this topic without being snarky. As above a person stated I said "get a spine"...I guess my military background has taught me tough love works and makes you stronger. I have a hard time empathizing when some fold so easy and then break. I do believe you make more sense with your peanut allergy analogy than I could just spreading tough love. I may come across as rude but I'm a product of my environment also meaning I have grown thicker skin over my years. Well said Moundshroud, you opened my eyes a little this morning

Lol, what kind of nonsense is this? Adults still have feelings and the right to express them. Also, I feel like I should be able to vent just a little- I bought the pass at the beginning. Then my kiddos daycare shut down this week due to a confirmed case of covid.

So atm I parent during the day, and because I want to keep my job, work from home at night. I mean I feel like I'm doing a great job adulting, but when am I supposed to grind out those last tiers? 🤷‍♀️

Since ya responded I'll give the only advice I can, wait to buy the pass till your almost done. I do that cause I can't guess what tomorrow brings, so I treat it like any other subscription. I don't join unless I know I can participate, and I don't expect anyone to change for me

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1658823#Comment_1658823

It's not advice, just an objective fact. There's no need to get upset.

I'm not upset I think too many people act like they know the person on the other side, don't...I actually agreed with your initial statements but I only went the direction of emotions because there are so many people that use personal things to argue changes for a video game. I just don't agree, yes, feelings have a place but not in DBD...imo

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1658811#Comment_1658811

I also didn't say that, I just said people didn't have to do them.

Since you claim not to care about feelings, here's a fact: not caring about feelings is bad for you, both physically and psychologically, as well as in your daily life.

Good Doctor didn't know you had a P.H.D....I don't care about ur psychological advice. I was talking to you about the rift but sure you care about what you want and I'll live my life. My life is the best it's ever been so hmm I'm doing something right for myself

  • @Orion said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1658783#Comment_1658783

That's not what I said, at all. Being an adult means being able to deal with your emotions, not to suppress them. Being taught to repress emotions instead of learning to deal with them is why men have such a high suicide rate.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1657832#Comment_1657832

You're right. I was dismissive and I apologize.

My point, which was later properly worded by @Todgeweiht, is that if the rifts are making some people miserable, then they need to stop doing them, because it's clearly negatively affecting their mental health. At the same time, they need to push for changes to the rifts that can make them better for everyone, but first and foremost they need to take care of themselves.

Games are supposed to be fun. If you're not having fun, it's important that you stop and find something else to play, or it could very easily grow into an addiction.

What you said was it's not meant for everyone to finish(rift) as far as feelings I was talking about space coconut's analogy...I don't care about feelings, that's just me and my life experience. Let alone no video game ever hurt me like the real life problems men face in this society

  • @Terro said:

I'm really confused about posts like these... I play solo survivor and undying doesn't seem to be that crazy. Of course you still get those dumb games where your team does stupid things cuz of undying but it l honestly just assume that they'd have screwed it up anyway.

I'll have to agree undying/ruin isn't that strong of a combo. It's nice to have another useful combo but it's not OP in any way...there has always been a 2nd objective, same peeps who cry about noed will whine about this

  • @Moundshroud said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1658517#Comment_1658517

The fact is a huge number of people play video games of this nature but only a tiny minority go off the rails. Statistically, it is the same number of people, usually coming from the same backgrounds and environments, and/or suffering from the same pre-existing conditions that actually suffer ill-effects. For example, if one is an alcoholic, or it runs in one's family, it is probably not a good idea to drink. To repeat my point, if YOU are seeing a Therapist, then you have some issues you are already aware of and if your Therapist (whom you are paying) says this game is bad for you, I think you should leave. However, please do not project your concerns and your issues on everyone else.

Thank you someone had to say it....👍

  • @BigBrainMegMain said:

I've always wanted a 15% increase in totem cleansing with Small Game back when the Wake Up bug was a huge topic. I'm glad Undying is in the game because it's making Hex Totems that are "meant to last for late game" actually last until late game and it thoroughly rewards killers that apply decent gen pressure and rewards killers who end chases quickly as well.

With Undying quickly becoming Meta, can we have a buff to Small Game?

    Thank you.

I saw an idea on the forum of increasing range, with totem counter....your speed idea would be good but maybe they could do each. My ? would be, if it's buffed that much will it be in every match like ds? Especially the way maps are looking in the graphic updates, yamoaka's(which I love) and Midwich.

  • @Orion said:

    • Swing the ban hammer around a little more freely, to get rid of toxic players.
    • Improve the reporting system.
    • Balance around the top players.
    • Change the rank system so killers would need to kill and survivors would need to survive in order to pip. Without a 3k, a killer would only be able to get a black pip at best, and the same for a survivor who didn't manage to escape.
    • Ban smurf accounts.
    • Prevent new players from being matched with more experienced players.
    • Rework all second-chance perks. In particular, rework DS so it becomes an anti-tunnel perk.
    • Add a totem counter to Small Game.
    • Lock survivors' items after 30 seconds in a lobby. The killers can still change their loadouts to adapt to what the survivors are bringing.
    • Either give all players a SWF indicator or split the queue between those who want to play with/against SWF and those who do not.
    • Make regular DCers play together, regardless of skill level, so they don't ruin everyone else's trials.

That's off the top of my head.

Well said, I believe your idea for pipping would help make ranks mean more....rank does matter to an extent imo and your idea would push players down to a more appropriate rank they belong in

As a joke, we played as a 4 man OoO and even so, only 2 of us escaped. We even used 3 Open-Handed and 3 Kindred. It might be powerful if only one person uses the perk, but it's seriously not that big of a hassle. Perhaps it is a problem if the survivor using the perk is part of eSports or something and is generally really good.

I personally don't like it, I didn't say it can't be beat....I just don't like the amount of shared info for doing nothing

  • @Godot said:

This isn't a thread to bash Aura-reading perks in any way, shape or form (BBQ & Chili, Bitter Murmur, etc.). I use them myself.

I wanted to ask everyone: What do you think, is this fair?

On many occasions, what happens to me if I go against a good Oni or Hillbilly, is that once they hook someone or a generator is repaired, they instantly use their insta-downing power to go to me or a different person, with help from an Aura-reading perk. If they manage to instantly find the other person they went to, they can easily down everyone if they just go from person to person. This is all dependent on both side's skill, obviously.

Personally, I will remain neutral, since I don't want to annoy anybody or get into any arguments. I just wanted to know what everyone else thinks.

Aura reading is apart of the game. I enjoy the way the entity shares info with the character but I hate OoO and that is the only one I don't like. I don't like using the word fair but damn that perk sux(in a swf)

I actually had to disable crossplay because they're so...not my playstyle. Even with longer queues, it's worth it.

Im on console red ranks and I don't do those things....I feel my game sense is what gets me my survivor rank not my looping skills

I didn't mean an actual counter to totems. It would be really dumb of me to have made over 2,600 posts if I didn't even know all the perks in the game lol

I mean something to track how many totems are left in the trial. Just stick it on the left hand side just next to the number of generators left.

I myself don't like the idea of any indicator for totems, it feels like hand holding and survivor gets enough of that each match...I think like you said if you have over 2,000 posts ya know the perks. If a new player needs help then they need to learn the perks, totem spots and explore the map. If they do those things they will learn, no need to make it easier for a team to escape in five minute matches

Anytime I hit bloodlust or a survivor uses an exhaustion perk, I get my teeth pumped by a fat FPS spike and I miss my swing or walk into a wall. This wasn’t an issue like 6-8 months ago. No I’m not bad, it’s a console FPS spike issue and it happens constantly

I have experienced the same thing with dead hard...I stopped using the perk around the time of death slinger, I believe it was that or silent Hill chapter completely screwed the perk for ps4

Agreed. A strategy is nothing more than a plan. Whether it is a good plan or a bad plan is the debate.

That being said, by OP logic, stealthing when 2 survivors are left in hopes of being the one to get hatch isnt a strategy either. Its unfun and boring and survivors shouldn't be awarded for using that kind of playstyle.

I hate that end game scenario(2 UE around while in and out of lockers). When I play survivor I tend to immediately jump on a gen and if I'm found I'm found. The 10 minute endings with 2 survivors and 4 gens sucks...I tend to now just check lockers and get get those "holy shiite, I found ya" moments sometimes

I've seen the arguments between those for and against tunnelling. Most of who agree with it are killer mains.

They say its not 'toxic' but a form of 'strategy' and 'skill'. Now I don't know what's clever and well played about hitting the same person over and over again, but that's just me lol.

I'm not totally against tunneling, ive seen killers try their best and get zero hooks, gen rushed and swf'd. All killers want at least a kill and if its endgame, there's no other way but to go after the one whose just been unhooked. It's up to the teammates to bodyblock and distract.

Tunnelling isn't strategy or skill, but merely a form of last resort for kills.

    P.S My opinion!

I only find tunnelling to be toxic in early game(5 or 4 gens left) and I would say it is a strategy when applied properly for a 4k....

Moris - activate based on gens being complete (Ebony = 1 mori per gen complete) to stop the 5 gen first hook moris

Iri Head+Infantry belt huntress - only the last hatchet has instant down

Nurse - Make her 105% base so that a new nurse player doesn't feel like such a bully simulator, but blink add ons reduce base movement

GF - make revealing consistent OR get rid of the direction indicator he gets when being revealed.

Camping - Increase survivor gen repair speed when within 12 meters of hook after 5 seconds unless in chase and provide some status notification to inform the killer

Clown - get rid of the wavy bright screen effect in gas and just give us a darkened screen like killer exhaustion effect. worst part of clown is the IRL headaches the gas effect causes.

I like the suggestions, even the mori idea(being i dont want them to change it, love 'em) I've never tried nurse but your idea with her makes sense to me, the only thing I wasn't big on was the clown's gas....I like it and it doesn't effect me but I would understand if it legitimately physically effects peeps.

This challenge I am finding is impossible to finish for one simple reason; My totems keep spawning out in the open, for everyone to see. Even running Undying - it doesn't help finishing this challenge. My Devour Hope keeps reseting or they just cleanse Undying and then DH - because the totem locations in this game are completely atrocious.

Though not to make this thread only to complain about how Hex perks are completely underpowered and unreliable. A better question would be; How did you actually finish this challenge?

I got it with Myers myself with an offering for Hawkins Lab....two tier 3 downs and normally hooking peeps and hopefully you get a good totem spot....RNG friend, just keep trying if that doesn't work try bringing a mori you don't need Devour to work itself

There is much moist thuthiness in here. Although I use a decent headset (more for streaming reasons mainly) I've teamed up with fellow Xbox peeps litterally across the room on their couch on Wi-Fi borowwing their lil sister's one-ear headset, and all talking into said headset together. Hard to call that set-up sweatsville...

Yeah I have a decent headset too, but I have a family so I only get to use it when I'm completely free, so once in a great while...I do have a good sound system so I try to use that to stay a little competitive and I'm still a lowly red rank consoler. Sorry for the double quote, I'm still learning the forums lol

    • Other stealth killers can maybe play around Spine Chill by looking to the side, but Myers and Ghostface don't have that option since their powers require them to look at survivors. Maybe Ghostface can opt out and just go for an M1, but Myers (in tier 1 especially) does not have that option.
    • Stealth is basically all Wraith has, and even then it's a pretty terrible stealth since he can be seen a mile away and must announce his presence. Wraith needs a lot of buffs, but can we at least throw him a bone on this?

I agree this time Bard...I don't think spine chill should activate against stealth killers, just my opinion...

  • Can we just create interesting characters? I know I'm from the generation that was taught race, gender, and ethnicity doesn't matter but this stuff gets old. I don't care if I play Claudette, Jake or Jeff, I play all the skins and I don't care what pixels you pretend they have between their legs. Diversity for the sake of diversity doesn't work, make interesting concepts and people will approve

He is a new player not even devotion 1 and he roasts low rank console players.

My point is, don't be cocky when you don't even yet faced good console or pc players.

Completely agree with you, there are consolers who know how to play this game....the non stop stabs at consoles seems kinda crazy when there are many potatoes on pc...I get it, there are a lot of casuals on console(reclining in a lazy boy playing a game casually) is not the same as sweating it out with ur gamer chair and $250 headset and pc that can run the frames optimally. I thought people wanted crossplay so you can get games faster and all it has shown me is that some pc gamers would rather act like they are superior because they take their hobby way more seriously than I do

I play mostly as survivor, and when I play solo I get better ranks but when I play with call I just...derank way too fast. And the problem isn't my teammates. People always say that playing with friends is easier but not for me, I didn't want to admit this because I would sound so annoying... The thing that bothers me is I have no idea why playing with friends is such a problem for me. Does anyone have the same problem?

I myself have only tried swf about 10 games and it was without comms....I try too hard to help friends in swf and I lose my pips very easy compared to solo...I prefer the game solo as I feel it was intended to be played without comms and with little info being shared. I try not to complain about teammates as a solo as long as they are not the self care during sloppy while peeps are dying on hook....if I'm being sweaty in a swf even without comms the game becomes too easy and I then take way too many risks and give up pips and sometimes throw cuz of being too altruistic...I've noticed while playing swf the gens go super fast and I down pip even escaping because the killer is overwhelmed and you don't get enough interaction

I'm sure this has been requested many times in the past but me personally would love to have a Xenomorph as a killer with Ripley as a survivor. Whether or not The DBD team can get the right to do it from WB tho remains to be seen

I feel ya I would love an Aliens dlc, even if it was Amanda Ripley from the Isolation game...a spaceship map and the xenomorph can use the vents like demo uses portals....just love the thought OP
