  • I play on xbox and if I get friends then sure I'd gladly show you the counter, and tell you now.

If a killer chooses to tunnel down or focus one survivor you have multiple ways to try to combat it, #1 rush gens, if hes camping or only chasing one specifically then you should be rushing gens for your team.

#2 you attempt to body block and get the Killers attention, if this fails you take a hit if you can and immediately rush gens.

If a killer chooses to only focus one survivor then 3 others should be on gens to punish the killer for failing to pressure multiple Survivors.

While iron will is not valid, mindgaming is a valid form of counterplay.

Unlike "just leaving them" it actually does lead to the desired outcome and thus qualifies.

If you just leave them at the loop then they end up not being hit. But if you mindgame the Spirit then you do avoid the hit.

    FILTHY SPIRIT MAIN

You dare to assume I shouldn't have the advantage in a loop? When theres 4 of us and one of you, we should get the upper hand because your just an entitled killer that wants easy 4ks.

On a serious note, if you try to mindgame her not just give up, you'd find its alot easier than you'd think.

He was always intended to lose bloodlust when placing snares, like all other killer powers. Accumulating bloodlust on top of slowing the survivors is excessive and doesn't require any skill.

Wasnt aware of this, most said it should be a change made. I agree with it as it allowed him to be the best bloodluster in the game.

  • @Peanits said:

There's a bit of a double standard going on here. The same can be said for camping or tunneling. The answer to those are Borrowed Time and Decisive Strike respectively. There are certain things on both sides that can be countered by perks.

That does not, however, mean that anyone should need to bring a specific perk just in case someone picks 1 of the 17 killers. That would be like having to bring Iron Maiden just in case someone is using Head On. Or to use a more practical example from the past, having to bring Iron Grasp just in case people sabotage hooks.

See with everything you just listed has counters that arent perks, my original post wasnt about how you need perks because killers do, it was stating that survivors arent the only one forced to use perks "just in case". You can bait head on or slug through sabotage. But there are perks to make it better for people that dont like theres options, its the same with spirit, you can counter her without iron will if you make a correct read or guess, the trick is to force her to guess as well, or attempt to stay uninjured for as long as possible, but if you so get injured you can have iron will to help if you do. It's not neccessary but will help alot.

    I will

Demogorgon can use his portals and teleport across the map at infinite range as long as 2 portals are on the map, upon teleporting he will get 0 TR for a limited amount of time

Shred can be usable after a decimal of seconds up to 1 second and is a fast attack, inflicting the injured state. Shred can also be used to turn into a rocket on hills and go even further when fully charged on a hill

Hillbilly has a 2.5 charge time with the ability but takes time to cancel and must wait for the action to cancel before being able to attack with M1.

Not if you want to bait, you can rev to 5 percent and instantly drop the saw and demos can also be completely disabled.

The problem with a powerful killer in Dead by Daylight doesn't come from the fact that she is powerful, but rather how easy she is to learn...this past double bloodpoint weekend I poured millions of bloodpoints into Spirit. Now, in less than 24 hours I was able to 4k 5 Gen 4-man SWF groups with only yellow add-ons at rank one. Her "mindgames" are very, very strong. I think what should be looked at is not her overall strength but the skillcap for her. Nurse was (and arguably still is) the strongest killer, but it takes a very long time to dominate with her! Spirit however can dominate after just hours of practice.

So what do you think? Do you agree with me that Spirit should remain at the top of the tier with added counterplay? Should she just be left alone? Or a complete rework?

I think against causal survivors Your going to dominate with a strong killer, her build isn't hard to pick up, but learning how to be super advanced with and and make specific baits and reads are what separates a good from a decent spirit. Obviously good headvones help but wont carry you, if you think spirit has nothing you can do against her if shes "good" watch space esports tournaments with thousands of hours, killers can ban perks, spirits ban iron will and lose. Why? Because they understand how to face her and are super optimal on gens, meaning 3-4 minute games if a killer makes one mistake, while survivors have 3 a piece.

Back in 2017 when bloodlust was just introduced , Billy could keep it when he miss the chainsaw hit , bloodlust was also stronger (each tier gained per 12 sec and tier 3 had 1.8 m/s boost) you basically could catch up to survivor in less in a second after missing a chainsaw if you had tier 3 . It was hella fun but broken as ######### .

I remember those days,I also remember vacuums, nurses never escape lunge, machine gun build, old Bnp. , some days I kinda miss it you know?

The killer see the survivors, so he can prepare.

    Lots of items? franklins.

    Keys? Mori.

That doesn't apply to bs loops in maps. But it does show why using a perk against specific survivor builds is ok but not the other way around.

Since survivors dont see the killer (and they shouldn't) they cant prepare in the same way.

Most survivors switch items on last second or switch character last second to exploit this, and even if I can see them, why should a perk be a counter? As I've said before irom will is always good and cant be nullified by the other side naturally, for Franklin's you dont bring items. And its useless.

I know iron will is good against all killer, I use it a lot myself but what if I want to use something else? Do I have to use one of my perk slots for IW every match?

Once again, using bamboozle every match is justified by your logic. Since it's useful all the time, you should use it every match since it can save you if you get some certain maps.

A better comparison would have been ruin or pop since Maps like the game have next to no windows, and I would love to see more perk diversity on both sides while also not adding weighted gear to yourself in the match.

No one should be forced to use a specific perk, just to have a decent chance against something. You can't justify that in any way. Yes, it is useful against all killers, but that doesn't make it fine, sorry.

By your logic, bamboozle works in every loop, so you should use it every match just in case you get a map with a broken loop. Bamboozle is good at all loops, but it is really good in broken loops.

I didnt say its required, you said "Bringing iron will just in case you get 1 out of 17 killers is even more stupid." As if iron will is like small game vs huntress because you hate trapper, the perk isnt useless otherwise, but Franklin's can be if no items are brought, or spirit fury if you dont get looped at pallets or the survivor throws early.

  • @Marcus said:

NO ONE wants band aid solutions for anything. Why are you even assuming this? None of these things are acceptable.

If using iron will every match is acceptable just because there's the same issue on the other side, why are you guys saying spirit is fine? It isn't justified because the same thing is on the other side as well.

It is less of a problem on the killer side because those perks work against all survivors. Bringing iron will just in case you get 1 out of 17 killers is even more stupid.

I never said people want them,I said some accept them for one side but not their own, and I'm rank 3 for survivor and cant not count the amount of times iron will has helped me against every killer. I can sneak behind walls or make any killer question if I'm even there, it also let's me stay injured all game with even litter downside. Iron will isnt anti spirit, it's a stealth perk/ objective completion time, you dont have to heal if you dont want to be found with it and can in turn work on gens, this combined with adrenaline, resilience and dh or sb can be disgusting as you dont have to waste time healing because of a single perk.

Point is iron will is go against almost all killers, the only issue is that its really good against spirit.

  • @Awakey said:

Not only is this a terrible bandaid fix, but actually hurts you more than it helps. Being able to phase through Survivors pretty much makes all current counterplay obsolete. Let's propose a scenario.

A healthy Survivor is running towards a pallet. He is somewhat close and being pursued by a phasing Spirit. If the Spirit has collision, and the Survivor knows, then the Survivor can play around it. He has a chance of not being hit.

Now if we take away Spirits collision, the Survivor basically has to pray that the Spirit has the collective IQ of a baked potato. If they don't, it's a guaranteed hit because the Survivor, by this point very close to the pallet, is now running straight into a Spirit that phased through them to the pallet.

Now, before I get flamed, allow me to suggest changes to the Spirit. I would leave her the way she is, but if I had to change her, this is how.

    - Make injured Survivor sounds omnidirectional.

    - Make scratch marks appear sporadically, rather than exactly how they would be seen had you not phased.

    - Rework prayer beads to revert the scratch marks change above.

That's it. Thoughts? Please be civil.

Omni directional grunts wouldnt make sense, for balance or for lore, but everything else seems fine.

  • @arslaN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/813831#Comment_813831

I asked you before, if it's an actual guess, why does she have collision with survivors? That's not a guess at all, the game tells you when you found someone. If it's a guess, why can she hear injured noises? Listening isn't a guess. Why does she have so much information on what survivors are doing but survivors don't have anything?

Not trying to be blunt or rude, but you do understand that if shes feels it so do the survivors? I mean, imagine using it to find her and slam her with a pallet, or find her and body block for a friend, it gives both sides the same information "their right next to me".

  • @PrincessPoop said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/813093#Comment_813093

I think the phasing being directional is a much bigger deal than just being able to hear it. Even with my proposed change theres still plenty of room for mind games, but it just makes it feel less cheap for the survivors.

If its directional it would kill one of the best parts about her.

Xbox/ps4 players are different than pc. Because of how easy partying up is and how encouraged it is most of the time groups of people move from game to game. Buddies who've been playing together forever will naturally coordinate better, even if they're new to dbd specifically.

Yes, the game has many other problems as well, most of them are a lot more problematic than spirit, but does that make spirit fine? Not really. I would rather see changes to other things before spirit, but she does need some changes.

My idea was make every skin have a noticeable har animation when she starts phasing as in moving in it, the survivors have to be close and she can still bait.

In all my three years of playing the game, I have yet to encounter this human pallet playstyle. Usually taking a hit to prevent the killer from hitting someone is counterproductive, unless the gates are open and you're helping them escape.

I play xbox and it's been happening alot to me recently, against teams that all have 3 times my time a piece, they have someone get off gens to preserve pallets and will block doorways to force me to hit them

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/812907#Comment_812907

I have played on every map plenty of times, and I gotta' say, I have yet to see a pallet respawn after being broken. It may start safe, but once they use it, it's gone and you can zone them back towards it to make that area unsafe.

They don't respawn, the survivor's dont use them and body block the killer from the other to break chase and bloodlust allowing the new survivor to loop it again especially with all the pallets just around there and not including all the jungle gyms around the map.

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/812818#Comment_812818

You absolutely can zone someone. Having to run past you means that they get less distance. A straight line to the next pallet is shorter than a line going around the loop they're at to get to the next pallet.

I've whipped up a couple crude examples to illustrate it. Say the killer is the blue dot, the green line is a pallet, and the red line is the path the survivor needs to take to get to the next pallet as soon as possible. To the left is either the edge of the map or a zone with no more pallets.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/581/FQ90D3NUTNM4.png

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/176/DY6G1HH6ZCSP.png

Which would you rather take? The top one would mean they're half way to the next pallet by the time you finish breaking it, the bottom one means that by the time you finish break it, they're just past the end of the wall.

RE: Huntress: It's definitely not the same. You can see her get a hatchet ready and try to break LoS. You can also react once she throws the hatchet if you're good enough. You even get an audio cue to tell when she's charging a hatchet even if you can't see her.

Have you actually played on 90% of cold wind maps (no offense) but at the center near shack for fractured cowshed for example, theres corn, in front theres shack, usually a jungle gym in front of it, one to the left and the cener building with 2 guaranteed pallets, and some random bale pallets and or another jungle gym, if the survivor loops it against an m1 killer correctly each could easily take 20-30 seconds a piece not even including exhaust perks, or team mates coming in and body blocking to get you off the person and loop the tile again. With 2-3 people on 80 second objectives. Please tell me how that's fun? If your against spirit you pray shes bad, against those survivors on that map and alot of others you have to pray they arent good in the slightest in order to mabye win.

  • @arslaN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/811585#Comment_811585

Of course you can easily deal with spirit in a 4 man swf if your team is good enough. Just because of the fact that swf teams can do gens insanely fast. I played in 4 man swf teams before and we dominated most spirits quite easily. It is an entirely different story in solo teams however.

Swf makes no sense from a balance standpoint but it shouldn't be removed because it is a fun addition and draws more people to play. What should be done is to make swf more fair against killers, not just remove it. If we ignore fun, let's just remove it for the sake of balance, right?

Devs themselves said that they want killers to be fun to play as and fun to play against. It seems like that was completely ignored when it comes to spirit.

This isn't even close to a competitive game. What's the point of playing the game if it isn't fun? What is the point of playing the game if it comes down to random guessing games and my skill doesn't really matter much? It doesn't really feel like I outplay or get outplayed by spirit. It's just "I guessed right" or "I guessed wrong". That's how I feel at least.

If it's not competitive then what's wrong with spirit?

I mean it's just a casual game right? I dont understand how its causal so we should take fun into account but disregard killer fun, spirit isnt "easy 4ks" she has the potential to 4k every game she has the best chance no matter the players skill. Any new playet can pick her up and do well and have fun. You want to talk about interaction? Oh they spawned on my ruin and play immersed but can loop be because I'm am m1 killer, oop 3 gens popped in the first 2 minutes wheres my interaction? Oop were on suffocation pit with the long window and the survivors run to it upon being hit every time, where's my interaction?. But spirit can win in those situations against the best survivors, she let's killers have the breathing room survivors have been handed for a long time. As spirit you can make a couple mistakes and not lose a game entirely as some killers are. Survivors can mess up 3 times a piece, with 5 objectives taking 80 seconds, while killers have 12-10 that take about a minute.

My point is, alot of things have little to no interaction, or are fun for one side or the next, but spirits seems to be the focus of it all and it doesn't seem fair for that balance I hear cried for so much.

  • @PrincessPoop said:

My idea to fix spirit would be to make her phasing noise audible everytime she phases whether your in her terror radius or not. Prayer beads would then be changed to get rid of her phasing noise while within terror radius.

Tbh, I wouldn't mind that so much, I like the idea that her hair would flick in a noticeable way when she phases, and prayer beads would make you hear her at less range when she is phasing l.

  • @Raptorrotas said:

    • No collision
    • Obvious tell she's phasing
    • Visual effect to locate her phasing, imperfct invisibility
    • No scratchmarks
    • Louder footsteps or audio cues

    "Fun and balanced"

So the spirits still has to stand still to cast her ability, cannot mindgame with it, goes in totally blind and isnt even invisible? And asking for working audio? Dont you have "good Headphones" like survivors always tell killers?

Yeah, Im sure that'll work perfectly in gutting her. Slap a fatigue on the reappearance for good measure.

So you agree with legions rework? This would literally kill her

  • @RIP_Legion said:

Honestly I'd change her like this, no scratch marks basekit the only scratch Mark's you see are the ones before phase walk was activated(good spirit mains use sound mostly anyways, it's why using iron will and walking away from scratch marks is very strong against her), no collision (I've been outplayed a few times and accidentally bumped into the person giving me a free hit when normally I would never have seen them), change prayer beads to see scratch marks only (nobody other than spirit mains enjoys silent spirit let alone playing against it solo watching your teammates evaporate). Lmk what you think

As you said scratch Mark's arent good spirits main way of tracking but I dont feel like taking them away would do much other than make scratch mark jukes gone as she cant see them. No collision is one I hear alot, but peopledon't really think about it, its feedback to both sides, I've trapped spirits in a doorway for my teammates because of it and used it to feel where she was and slammed a pallet, for every collision free hit you get, the survivors get a dead giveaway where you are.

  • @Raptorrotas said:

Spirit's designed to not give it away.

    "Give us a ez giveaway!!!!

    *facepalm*

She was designed in a way that gives survivors no information, I would love to say no change needed as a spirit main, some light feedback to survivors wouldnt kill her, if her hair on every skin doing a noticeable animation could only been seen if you were very close and still allow her to bait survivors, or just gives them more of a fighting chance against her. But if it's not a flat out nerf just a QOL change they would buff another aspect, like longer phase, faster or something it would make one aspect better and making her more fun to play against for the majority of survivors.

Let’s take a look at all the Killer perks slowing the game down.

    POP GOES THE WEASEL

Very powerful one, but in most situations PGTW forces the Killer to run away from the hook, PGTW rewards the Killer for gen pressure and for not camping, it is great perk, let’s move on.

    THANATOPHOBIA AND SLOPPY BUTCHER

Also good ones, these perks provide fun strategy– not chasing one survivor and keeping pressure on multiple survivors.

    DYING LIGHT

Not strong by itself, but it rewards multiple hooks, which is nice.

    SURGE

Perfectly saves tons of time which Killer can use to apply more pressure.

    Aaannnddd…

    HEX:RUIN

Dumb one, totally rng perk, can be destroyed in the very beginning. And Killer barely need to do something to make this perk useful so he can camp survivors to death. I saw so many Hag, Wraith, etc. players playing like that with Ruin. Annoying as hell from the Survivors perspective, punishes players don’t playing this game so much. Terrible, just terrible and very unhealthy perk.

@Peaanuts do you have any ideas do change this one? Please tell..

Bud, this may seem rude or obvious but, just hit the skill check. Or if your against me you'll just spawn on it?

There is, but it's very subtle and hard to tell with some outfits. You'd also have to keep a close eye on her which isn't always an option. If you're at a pallet or window with line of sight blockers, you can't exactly set up shop next to her and see if she's phasing.

What if all skins had the current tell tales? Or something that didnt make it map wide knowledge shes phasing, but decently identifiable. But if this was implemented, she would have to get something in exchange if it's a qol change. My personal idea would to make her faster while phasing or make it last longer.

  • @Rin_is_my_waifu said:

So, one of the nerfs will be a tell for when she uses her power.

Time to switch to billy or ghostface

The bug that you can hear her whooshing sound while in terror radious isn't enough?

There's a tell yes, but with my proposed idea the survivors would have to be very close to you and you could start phasing and wait next to your husk, baiting them into you.

  • In a pallet loop, he can curve but this can be avoided by baiting it, hillbilly is heavily countered by looping, hence why low ranks think hes broken or better than spirit, they cant loop.

  • I have no clue where your under the impression I cant make up my mind, i listed multiple counters to spirit specifically and the counter to every killer.

Also stated that the majority you refer to is going to be survivor as it's a 4v1.

How about you make an argument other than unfun? Or do you have one? Everyone here has made points and counters.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/810030#Comment_810030

"fun" is what the casual or average player looks for it dosent matter what you individually look for in the game as a singular entity, it is about what the majority want not the minority and if that's a spirit nurf then it's because it was decided by a larger group of people because at the end of the day the game is a business.

The majority plays survivor, 4v1 remember? As survivor you shouldn't be able to 1v1 a killer and win because your a skilled player, what I mean is even the best hillbilly in the world will still lose against even somewhat good survivors, as spirit you can win chases even against the best is you make a correct play, if they slam you with a pallet and run you are a 110 killer that for 5 seconds is 176, she has potential to be countered, the trick isnt looping however.

You have to stay uninjured for as long as possible with iron will, you have to make her question where you are. Every killer in the game has the same counter as well, rushing the insane gen speed as killer it's a nightmare to see 3 survivors in separate gens, if you go after one you lose 2 if you go after one then to the next they get back one and you lose 2 gens. She will eventually down you but even a minute chase could be a gen or 2 out of 5, the killer needs 12 - 10 hooks. So please explain how she is unfun when she has counters? Oh wait its because you cant loop her for 5 gens just by looking at her right?

I apologize for misinterpreting your comments. I was under the impression you were accusing me of trying to ruin the game for everyone.

When I said 'baseless accusations' I wasn't referring to your point about game balance and fun. I was suggesting that there was no basis to you suggesting that I'm attempting to ruin the game. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

It's all good, I'm just as much to blame,i dont realize I sound like I'm talking down or blaming someone half the time.

I didn't say I was insulted because you made a point against me. I have no problem with a 'discussion'. However, your post came across as rude and not very civil at all.

The meaning of your message was completely lost on me because you weren't making a clear point. Instead it seemed like you were making baseless accusations.

If you didn't mean to completely direct your point at me you shouldn't have worded it in such a way. Saying 'your logic' and explicitly stating that my intentions are to 'ruin' the game for others is unfounded and isn't a constructive point at all.

My bad I didnt specify that "your logic" was at the op.

Also baseless argument? I provied evidence of previous issues for killer and how their overshadowed by killer nerfs, survivors were brought down from their god mode yes but still have the advantage in almost every way. I simply provied examples of changes to both sides in order to prove it. My argument was that for the game to be balanced for "fun" would be awful because different people decide what's fun to go against for them.

As for accusations, well let's look at the amount of dcs that happen daily and not because of internet but because the player decided because they dont like something everyones fun should be ruined.

Please stop putting words in my mouth; I didn't say or even suggest any of this.

You might find that specific add-on an added challenge but I, personally, don't enjoy playing against it. Despite the fact I don't really enjoy it, I won't DC and ruin it for anyone else because that's unfair. I'm not going to ruin the killer's fun just because I'm happening to have an un-fun match - that would be immature. Moreover, I don't encourage other survivors to DC in these situations. I was merely saying that I can understand why they might feel like doing so.

I made absolutely no reference to:

    • Decisive Strike
    • Mettle of Man
    • Unrelenting
    • Iron Grasp
    • Save The Best For Last
    • SWF
    • Dead Hard

I was simply stating that I find one specific add-on not suited to me personally and you assumed that my goal was to ruin the fun for all players. I don't want it nerfed or changed and I wasn't making a game-wide comment about balance.

Also your points about killer problems being ignored is a flawed argument. Killers have had many features introduced, adjusted and removed for their enjoyment of the game.

I'm not going to respond to you again because I'm actually somewhat insulted by the way you're addressing the situation. What you stated was not my "logic", you made a bold and unfounded assumption based upon my opinion of 1 add-on.

Feel free not to respond idrc, if you feel insulted because someone made a point against you that's fine again, my point wasnt directed completely at you, I made a reference to many survivors and killers alike, you said you dont find an addon fun, I pointed out balancing for fun would kill the game, because everyone has a definition of what's "fun". I brought up the points as references to support my claim against yours. If you feel insulted mabye dont be in a "discussion forum".

I didn't say it couldn't be countered, I was saying that it just isn't fun.

A harder challenge, less fun, ok. the way I see it anytime theres something hard to deal with or harder to deal with survivors would rather call it unfun or unbalanced rather than just accept it's in the game. I see countless post about billy, spirit and other killers that are decent saying nerf this and that, but when killers complain, unless its game breaking nothing is done. Ds and mom were nerfed, so was unrelenting, iron grasp and stbfl. Swf's and insanely unfair gen speed is in the game but we as killers should just "deal with it" or my favorite "pressure the survivors". Everyone has something they consider op or unfun, imagine if a killer saw you use dead hard to a pallet and dcd because they dont consider dead hard fun to go against or skillful. That's your logic, if I think it's unfun I should just ruin the game for others or have it nerfed even though theres counters.

Iridescent Head isn't fun to play against. While DCing isn't a mature response to playing against the add-on, I can understand why people might.

It feels cheap to get downed and ultimately lose the match over an instant-down add-on. Realistically, a lot of killers who use such add-ons might not have won the match otherwise. It just feels like a waste of time trying against such builds.

Iri head huntress is good but as I've stated, still extremely loopable and counterable its just more difficult.

ofc not but u get punish when 2 team mates or 1 disconnect cus ur chance of survivel is small.

The idea is to punish the person that dcs to discourage doing it in the first place.
