I am the best looper in this game at least from what i have experienced. Also a friend of mine is better then almost every streamer you can find.
But streamer/youtube.. well Fungoose is pretty good. So is Zubat or Ayrun.

Spirits lose to good survivors who know how to play against her.
Yes she does. She looses to those survivors who are smart enough to let the survivor rot on the hook and rush gens. I can guarantee you, a very fun experience!

You still miss the comparison.
Spirit requires you to read and predict.
Mix up characters require you to read and predict.
There is nothing here about hacking or spamming fireballs.
Spirit can only be doing so much, the fact you can't see her or know exactly what she's doing shouldn't matter. If there are only 2 paths she can take to reach your location and you take this 3rd path away from her then you just beat every option she had at the same time. She is not infallible.
Spirit can see the survivors scratmarks and she can hear you. Thats pretty much it.

From what people have replied with me with, some say she can't be countered, while others say they don't like to try and counter what they can't see. And so I came up with a way they can fix that if you took the time to read through the comments that weren't just about counters. She can move stuff in the environment such as corn, grass, ect.
@azame had a good idea of being able to hear her footsteps. But you only cherry picked some parts of my argument some people have already pointed out and I discussed with them.
So the discussion now shifted from "no counterplay" to "lets find ways that Spirit actually has counterplay" during those 4 pages? If so then you should mention that in your first posting because obviously i am not reading 4 pages when the first posting has a very direct and clear statement in it which has nothing to do with "lets find interesting mechanics"

So I am a survivor main (if you've seen any of my comments/posts I've pointed this out before) and I don't get why so many survivors complain about Spirit. She is counterable, you just have to learn to do it. If she does a fake out in front of a pallet, don't risk vaulting it, that's your own fault for playing dumb because it's an actual strategy.
"But Stridor Spirit renders Iron Will useless." You might say, out of the hundreds of games I've played against Normal Spirits and Stridor Spirits, I've learned to counter both just fine, yeah I lose a few games here and there, but I give the killer a GG instead of coming to the forums to post "X killer is OP!!"
No, that just means the killer you played against knew how to use that killer, Hillbilly just got nerfed, and two killer perks were buffed(? I don't play killer so I don't know how to feel about new Franklin's/Knockout lol).
What more do you want? Every killer you can't counter to receive a nerf because "Woes me, x killer killed me and is therefore overpowered." Grow up, survivors still need DS to get a nerf, until that happens, none of us get to complain about Spirit being "overpowered".
I just don't get it.
While you dont get everybody is complaining about killer you can not counter, i dont get how you can defend those kind of killer.
Lets check out the Nurse for example. Some funny people come up with silly ideas that she is counterable by using Los blocker. Technically, this is true, because it might increases the chance that she ######### up. But what if she does not ######### up and actually plays well? If that is the case, your theoretical counter just becomes a big useless fart and all you have is distance between you and the Nurse which can only achieved by holding shift and W.
Same with Spirit. All your "counters" are just some random attemps you can do in hope the killer is doing a mistake. If she plays perfect, you are dead, no matter if you played it perfect or not. Thats why everybody says there is "no counter" because technically you can not do anything if the killer plays perfect, no matter how well you do as survivor. Pretty easy to understand, right?
Slinger is also kinda the same #########. You can not dodge a Deathslinger, no matter how good you are, but then some people come here and talk about counterplay in a chase while it is not even theoretically possible.
EDIT: And before the nonsense discussion is going again in the obvious nonsense direction: YES you can win against spirit, even Nurse, but it is extremly boring, annoying, frustrating, flat out bullshit. Runsing Gens vs super fast killspeed is the worst possible scenario in a game like this.
We want exciting chases, as a killer and as a survivor. Against Spirit for example, it is not the slightest. Everybody who says they are exciting never plays against really good spirit or prefere hiding the whole game.

"I mean, i doubt you believe yourself what you write there but thats fine."
OMG
Wow.
Just wow.
Bro. It's over. There is proof of people outplaying Spirit.
Also none of what I did in the first video was a guess. I KNEW she was phasing to me. I KNEW what direction she was coming from. I KNEW about how far she was based on the time I heard the phase (base speed is 7m/s so at 24m woosh gives you about 3.5 seconds to react. 3 if she has speed add-ons. I was reading her. Nothing was a guess. Remember I got iri Unbroken and ir Evader. I ran her all game and then managed to avoid her at the gate. Obv poor bill ate the NOED, but had he not been there her chances to catch me were slim since I just dropped what is basically a god pallet on my way to shack pallet while she has 0 phase and the gate was in that direction too. I was 100% escaping that game.
"She.has.to.do.mistakes."
Which. You. Can. Put. Her. In. A. Position. To. Do. Consistently.
Like really how hard is it to admit that something I did lead to her making a mistake. You know that's actually a thing right? To get the other player to mess up.
There is obviously no proof and there will never be any proof that you can outplay a Spirit. Your video is actually a prime example about those "proofs" that are nothing but a row of mistakes done by the killer. You simple dont understand that you never outplayed her, she was just doing mistakes. We end the discussion here because it is not leading anywhere.
Thanks for your time tho.

You don't care to have a discussion you just want to be right, even in the facing of damning evidence to the contrary.
I mean, i doubt you believe yourself what you write there but thats fine.
I am the one who wants to be right? Read our discussion again. "I OUTPLAYED HER. End of story." Which is pretty much everything you say over and over again even i dead obvious prove you wrong.
A final step by step food of thougts for you:
- Do you outplay a PERFECT Spirit? No you dont.
- Why not? Because she is not doing any mistakes.
- So how do i outplay a Spirit then? She has to do mistakes.

Then stop nitpicking the killer's mistakes. People ######### up. Sometimes what someone else does ######### you up. You seriously can't sit there and tell me that I did absolutely nothing in those videos to avoid getting caught and that it was all just her ######### up.
I OUTPLAYED HER. End of story.
Instead of your rant, you could actually read what i wrote for you and try to understand it a little bit.
If you think you outplayed her... again... give us a time where this outplay occure. Those window "mindgames" are no outplays by the way, she can still hear it and see your scratchmakes fading. All she has to do is listen.

SHOW ME PROOF YOU PLAY 100% PERFECTLY ALL THE TIME.
Seriously, nitpicking everything she did from my perspective instead of just acknowledging that maybe ######### MAYBE Spirit actually has counterplay. The logical fallacies are mindboggling at this point.
But yea I guess anytime anyone shows a video of them outplaying a Spirit you will find a way to dismiss it because "no counterplay" LMAO Right yes, of course, literally nothing I did influenced her to make a mistake. She just did that on her own while I ran looking up with both my thumbs up my own ass. OMG
Seriously it's old at this point.
I can not show you proof that i play 100% perfect, because i dont. Nobody does that. Now please read this carefully, because if you understand it, we might not have to talk about this subject ever again ;)
Seriously, nitpicking everything she did from my perspective instead of just acknowledging that maybe [BAD WORD] MAYBE Spirit actually has counterplay. The logical fallacies are mindboggling at this point.
Relying on someones mistake is not counterplay! It is just relying on someones mistake. You even say it yourself. With your example you just say "she did mistakes, so i have counterplay" but again that has nothing to do with counterplay. You are simply relying on her mistakes. But relying on mistakes can not be counterplay for the side who has to hope the other side does those mistakes. Because, and now this is key - the survivor side in our spirit example has NO inpact if the other side is doing the mistake or not.
But yea I guess anytime anyone shows a video of them outplaying a Spirit you will find a way to dismiss it because "no counterplay" LMAO Right yes, of course, literally nothing I did influenced her to make a mistake. This paragraph showcases how completly different we understand the term counterplay.

Ah the 'ol "dismissing because killer not good" argument.
This place is a serious echo chamber. Come up with something new please.
Also in the first clip she was phasing to me at the door, I knew this and went for the pallet. Bill just happened to be there but i was going to drop the pallet and run to shack. She had to break that pallet because it was a corner pallet and she wouldn't be able to phase after me (plus she JUST used her phase). Then I got on the door and opened in despite her NOED and phasing to me.
It's proof that you can read a Spirit even if you can't see her.
Excuse me? "dismissing because killer not good" argument? I did not say that, maybe you were the better player, but how about we go together through the second clip:
00:17 I dont even know whats happening there, she simply lost you somehow for a short period of time so you could make it to the pallet. You did not outplay, she outplayed herself.
00:21 She is apparently phasewalking ... strange play. Maybe she was assuming you stay at the pallet. At least she could have forced you to the other side of the pallet. However, mistake by her. You jump down and then walk to the window. She should be able to hear your steps and you vautling the window. Mistake by her.
00:46 We are at the same situation again, she finally kicks the pallet. I have no idea what she was even doing during those last 20 seconds. I guess jumping down was 2 much of a mindgame.
00:57 You are trying a random mindgame. Why she is not listending to you movement? Instead she is using her power to do whatever she is doing there. Another dead obvious mistake.
01:14 She completly lost you.
I and probably everyone else who is trying to stay objective here will agree that she outplayed herself all the time and you did nothing special which she could not have used against you. Maybe you give us your POV about this situation.
And about the first clip lol.... You knew that she was coming? You saw it on your Spine Chill. The next Spirit is not looking in your direction because she is assuming you have Spine Chill and you go down because of that. Or she is antizipating you run to the pallet. Outplayed i guess...
-
First clip: Nothing happens. Everyone escapes. So?
Second clip: Everybody is dead, Spirit does a series of quite funny mistakes and the survivor escapes because of that. 🤔
Should they proof something or what is the purpose? I could also post 2 random clips where i escape a Spirit. Do they mean i beat Spirit? Of course not, i simply beat the player, or even better said, he beat himself.
-
I can not prove it but i am pretty sure, they are right now collecting Data in the background. Next time it will go live, people will be more or less already ranked right from the beginning.

They’re under zero pressure, and had the opportunity to “make the most of it” with the situation I presented by earning additional BP cleansing totems.
My point stands.
You know what i want when that happens to me? Get the ######### out of the game as fast as possible. Just rush the gens open the gate and run. I am also 100% fine if the killer downs and kills me with his noed right after the 5th gen poped. All i care is to get out of this boring experience.
You only prove that survivors also want to have fun and doing gens/totems is something nobody wants to do. Its not about if Noed is op or fun to play against, it is just that survivors dont care about your boring "memes".

Meme’ing around, giving survivors all the time in the world as a little experiment, and over a few dozen games NOED lit up while survivors are running around in my face every single one of those games.
I now propose all NOED posts by survivors should be banned from these forums until killers can no longer give survivors all the time they need to cleanse totems, but still don’t cleanse them.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I am not suprised at all and the reason for that is simple: Most survivors dont like to do generators, they want to interact with the killer. You know what people dislike even more then doing gens? Totems! Especially when they are dull and survivors have no idea if the killer is running noed and how many totems are already cleansed.
Sidenot: I am positive Noed will be changed very soon, so discussing it is probably just a waste of time.

Those stats were before both Ruin got changed and his rope add-ons were nerfed. Rework Freddy with double ropes, ruin, and pop basically meant survivors couldn't get gens done which help inflate his kill rate. His overall kill rate has likely gone done since then.
Those stats were also from a time were toolboxes were way better, maps were much bigger, stronger loops were in the game, genspeed was faster and people had no idea that corrupt is actually better then Ruin. We can assume that his Killrate might be higher since he got more buffed then nerfed overall.

Just do bones! I don't see the problem, if you don't do totems you're just being a lazy entitled survivor main.
These are all from the last week, by the way. Every time I've run into NOED it's been in one of these kinds of builds.
Sarcasm aside, could someone give me tips on how to find the time to "just do bones" on a map like Lery's when I'm a solo survivor against an ebony mori and/or face camping killer? Thanks.
You should not do bones at all. Just do gens as fast as possbile and if it is noed, open the exit gate and leave. Dont feed into noed, dont try to be alturistic, just leave the trial. Let him have his 1K.

I am an Rank 20 killer because i preffer to play as survival, and i had buyed spirit a week ago and had played like 3 matches
I never play as killer because i prefear to play with my friends
So if you guys dont wanna to see that spirit is op i am gonna to do a challange to my self
i will play as killer for like and week with spirit and i am gonna see what rank can i get in ONE WEEK
i am gonna to take print of every match that i played and show the results of all the matches in another tread in the future
Rules that i put
If survival DC it isnt gonna count
I cant use moris
I will play 4 matches per day
And that it
After a week i will show the results
note: i will not gonna cheat you if you think that i cheat you will be abble to see the rank and the bloodpoints always (:
If you wanna try this challange be free to say the result here in comments just dont lie (:
So what do you want to prove? That even someone who has not played killer a lot can win most of his games with Spirit? Not gonna happen. Give me 3 decent survivors i can play with, open a KYF lobby and i prove you that you can also loose with Spirit.
Said that, I think that it is possible to win every game with Spirit and i am positiv she is overpowered in the right hands, but you need experience with her to perform really well.
And before i forget. Last but not least, playing a few games does not mean anything. Reach rank 1, play 1000 games with Spirit. If you win 900 come back and tell us more about it.

I have seen more killers show mercy to survivors then I have ever seen survivors show mercy to killers.
Killers never have to give someone the hatch but do anyways when they win hard.
But the opposite never happens were survivors will give pity hooks for when they win hard against the killer.
This week i gave 2 "pity hooks" to killer who had bad games.
The first pity hook i gave i died first hook because my team left right away.
The second time i got facecamped. "gg ez" from the killer btw
And some wonder why survivors dont do it that often anymore.

Hello there
Pressure gens over commiting to a chase, especially when you cant get value ouf of it right away.
Getting pallets out of the way is often more important then downs or hooks.
There are 3 different player types in a chase: The Follower, the mindgame Marvin and the one who is mixing between mind games and just following. Be #3

Why put a question mark and act innocent, that is being quite disingenuous. You were being sarcastic as you know the devs are the only ones with actual data as they can see all the match results.
If you wanted a real and honest response you could simply ask why it is I believe that.
The statistics aren't fake. The problem with them is that there are a myriad of factors that are not taken into account which skew that data tremendously to where it is near worthless to use in terms of measuring balance. That devs realize this as well which is why they also specifically said not to draw any conclusions from the stats as you are doing right here.
Right, there are factors. DC, Mori, Maps you name them etc. All those factors also affect any other killer, and on average, every killer has to deal with the same stuff.
Which factor, in your opinion might have any influence that those stats are not valid?

I don't run Pop so can't really speak for that, however it would be possible to get no use from it if you couldn't hook a single survivor, the game would be lost already if that were the case however it still would give no value.
BBQ you always get the extra bloodpoints so I was wrong to mention that.
Discordance however I've had games where it didnt go off a single time because the survivors were simply organised and spread out.
Unbreakable you still didnt say how it requires the killer tunnelling/camping. but I will add that you can bait the killer into slugging you by convincing them you have DS
And I didn't take issue with your claims about DS BT requiring tunnelling/camping because while they can be forced, the actual concept is related to tunnelling and camping, so not sure why you brought them up again
True you can have no hooks and get no value out of pop. But when we go that far, then every perk can have no value? Deja Vu? Could be blind so i dont see auras anyway. Corrupt Intervention? Could be afk because i had to take a piss.
BBQ you always get the aura read aswell. And if you dont, you still have info
Discordance. Does not have to go off. You still get info by knowing that not 2 or more people are on a gen.
Unbreakable: Killer does not need to slug you, he can just pick you up and put you on the hook, which is pretty common that a killer hooks a survivor where i play.
-
@OllieHellhunter said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1581191#Comment_1581191
How do you get value out of discordance if the survivors split up on gens? How do you get value out of Pop or BBQ if you don't get a single hook? How do you get value from NOED if either you win before all gens are finished or if a key is used?
I'm not saying you should get any use from them in these situations but saying you get value from them all the time is just disingenuous.
and how does Unbreakable require the killer tunelling/camping? I use the perk almost every game yet dont get tunelled or camped most these times.
Cant remember a single game where i have not got any pop, BBQ or Discordance value at all.
But Unbreakable, DS, Borrowed? In most games i dont need any of them, unless the killer is playing shady. Then they work as intended.
-
Alright, lets compare the BEST killer and survivor perks.
Killer perks: Pop, Noed, Discordance, BBQ
Survivor perks: Borrowed Time, Desicive Strike, Unbreakable
What is the most significant difference between those perks? Right! You get value out of Killer perks all the time, while you only get any value from survivor perks when the killer is tunneling/camping. On top of that, many good killer perks encourage you to search a different target and leave the hook + pressure gens.

But as the title says, it goes BOTH ways and it looks like you did provoke them in endgame chat. Yes, they are clearly in the wrong but you aren't a saint in this situation.
Not saying i am a saint, but after a game like that including quite a bit SWF toxicness (the usual stuff i know.. you get that often but still) and then the DC at the end... not easy to take that silence. I guess i was weak there tho.

@Crazewtboy said:
This should be something that doesn't need to be pointed out. But unfortunately so many people who play this game believe they can do no wrong. Both sides are toxic to an extent and everyone should bear that in mind. Before you stop to talk ######### you have to consider the other person's point of view. Like this scenario here, I see both points of view. They disconnected because the game was taking entirely too long, but if the guy was about to die anyway, what's a few more seconds so the match is finished fairly?
I mean honestly the game was not that long, it was longer then usual, but they exaggerated a lot just to make a random, sensless point.
And yes, the DC was only for last guy so he can get hatch. The guy on the hook was dead, but hatch was not opening fast enough... without DC tho.

Entirely? no. But again, he could have influenced either exchange vastly more than he did. simply walking in a random direction from the loops would have improved his chances significantly, throwing the pallet in the first chase randomly later during the phase duration would have forced an unfavorable chance to be a 50/50, misdirection and using grass to hide blood could have confused her/wasted time and given distance while her power recharged, etc.
Its not that nothing could be done to make the situation infallible, its that nothing WAS done to make the situation less predictable.
No i dont really think thats the case here. Its just a different approach you suggest. It is also not said that your playstyle would actually be worse then his try.

Forcing people to have to guess very much is counterplay. Removing safety is a pretty important part of competitive strategy in pretty much any game, going all the way back to chess/shogi/etc. Counterplay doesn't mean you automatically win a situation, it means you have a chance for your input to determine the outcome, as opposed to be being trapped in a losing scenario. There are varying degrees of strength to counterplay, but that doesn't mean scenarios that do not directly favor you have zero counterplay.
Being stuck on phase 2 of the hook is a scenario that has no counterplay. You can only mash until you get saved, or die. Being on stage 1 does have counterplay, because you have the possibility to 4%. Its not strong counterplay, and is often far more risky than it is worth, but it exists compared to Phase 2. There are even perks that can strengthen that counterplay, like deliverance. But at the end of the day, you have the potential to directly impact the situation positively for yourself.
The argument shouldn't be about whether the counterplay exists, it should be about how strong or weak the counterplay is.
Great you mention Chess. Chess is a game with all informations. There is nothing you dont know, it is all on the board and you see it with your eyes. Chess also has nothing to do with guessing. I mean sure, you can only guess which opening your opponent is playing, but it is not important since you still have all the information on the board anyway. Its always important to find the best move in every situation and dont rely on enemys mistakes.
Now compare it with Spirit. What kind of information do you have in a chase against a Spirit? First of all you never know if she is actually phasing or not. Second, if she is, you have no clue what she is planning and where she is until its 2 late.
So what do you do when you have no informations? You guess.
Now compare DbD again with Chess. Imagine you have to make moves during a chessgame, but his pieces are invisble and you have no idea what kind of move your opponent did. You might guess it right, but its based on luck eventually.
You might say now that you know his patterns, but what makes you think he does not know that you know? Also you can not just play the potentially strongest move, because it might be actually a big plunder in that scenario.
Is it even possible to call a guess in whatever game where you dont have information "counterplay"? I dont think so.
And about how strong or weak counterplay is, its relative like i posted before. We can call EVERYTHING counterplay, even staying still and doing nothing. I guess we have to cut a line somewhere.
Guessing games are no counterplay and there is so far nothing convincing i have ever seen or did that would prove anything different.

I think it is also crucial to define the term "counterplay" for any discussion around that. Because it can mean a lot of things and people often define it different. They might even think the same way, but just because of definition, they dont agree.
Holding W and run in a straight line is technically counterplay, because it prolonges chasetime. But we dont call this counterplay, right?
Counterplay as survivor is when he has options that will safe him, when he plays correct.
Let us for a second talk about the Nurse example. There are many people who say that counterplay against Nurse is to break LOS. Is that true? Actually not really, it is basicly our hold W example, since there is nothing that hinders Nurse to blink at your location no matter what you try and what you do. You can guess where she is blinking, but it is nothing more then a guess, no matter how well you analise patterns. It might work, it might not work. So LOS is per definition no counterplay.
Would you agree with that?

What the hell? He does not even say a thing in the game, you have not watched it. I came to the conclusion.
Like i said in my first 3 words of my posting that i indeed did not watch it. Why should anybody watch his videos? He is not good at the game, all he does is whining about stuff he has far to less understanding off and his constand river crying is not entertaining aswell.

Have not seen nore experienced that as a killer.

Dont even need to watch that video to know that its about the same mimimi as always. That coconut guy is so biased he has not even played survivor beside a few times, yet he has the audacity to judge about game design what makes him look completly redicilous. His opinion is pretty much without any value.

Had the same problem, restarting steam mutlble times helped somehow.

Was the killer a Trapper and the map Suffication Pit? If so, you are welcome. 😃

Ever since pyramid head came out I've only been playing him for about 80% of my killer games now. I have become addicted to his cage's and the sheer absolute counter to DS and BT, most of you would call it tunneling I call it playing the game the way i want to play it. No one should affect the way you play because the majority says it's not "the right way to play". play the way you see fit this goes for survivors and killers. Thanks for reading my Ted Talk!
Sure, play as you like and when you prefere to ruin others experience, then it is the way you want to play the game - it is not against the rules. But please dont wonder when you get called out for it.
Stand for it what you are: A tunneler who does not care for anybody else but himself. Be proud of it.

Nerve all the killers, okay, now the survivors!
Decisive strike, 4 survivors with decisive strike is boring, and the perk of David (I forgot the name) and William, and many others... no! Enough, stop, the killers have become snails, too many pallets, too many windows + the distant generators stop !
What do you think about it ? Don't tell me "you don't know how to play", if you know how to play it's because you play against randoms, you'll never be able to win against the survivors who know the game and have a microphone !
Nerve all the killers? Most of them received buffs.
And what is your problem with No Mither?
