  • Although I'm not a fan of slugging (unless I'm really sure the survivor has no way to get back up) I am however in favor of face-camping but under certain conditions. One, "Clickers." Yeah, you have a flashlight and I have Lightborn. Keep flashing and clicking and I'll be sure to nod at you on hook repeatedly. And two, if someone is taunting me as if they can't be caught. I'll gladly take the 1k just to know that person didn't make it out.

In my case, I can carry survivors the entire game but end up getting tunneled and camped to death. In these situations either everyone dies due to the randoms not doing gens or they escape but I die due to pissing the killer off because I ran them all game. Some of us actually play really well but get matched with teammates that are new. The matchmaking should never rely on one person having to carry everyone else for the whole game.

There are other factors as well, like what server you're on, how populated it is, and what time you play, that will also determine how bad the matchmaking is. For the past.. I wanna say year? the queue times become really long and I get matched with a lot of new survivors or killers after 9 pm Eastern. But within the last month or so I'll have bad matchmaking even before 9 pm. I have 9k hours and I wouldn't say I'm amazing at the game, but I can guarantee you that the game is in the worst state it's ever been in in the entire time I've played. I believe that's also why they took 2 weeks to do MMR tests, because the state the game is in is really bad for a lot of people

You just described my matches perfectly! Sometimes I'll get a good team and we always add each other because we know that we will cover each other when needed. I just had a match in Midwich against a Legion. Again, I was the only one doing gens. One person spawned next to the Ruin totem and they didn't even touch one gen after that. The Legion surprisingly let me have hatch. I wonder if he saw that I was the only one making an effort. I was able to finish 1 1/2 gens all on my own while other people were just hiding in lockers.

I feel like a lot of peoples "hate" of solo queue comes from a lack of accountability. I play solo queue for literally hours and hours every single day, way more than most and solo queue is totally fine. We win the vast majority of our matches. Even 1 good player can carry a team. I think this is more people playing badly and blaming "bad teammates" instead. I would even go as far as to say that even in solo queue you still have a massive advantage vs the killer with the games balancing. For people to even go as far as to call solo queue unplayable is just completely ridiculous and I think people should rewatch their game play.

It's just the opposite for me. Lately I'll do around 3 gens solo and everyone else is doing something like crowding a hook. I'll be the only one without a hook and out of sympathy, I'll run over to help my team. Then I end up dying on 1st hook while gens still aren't being touched. I can see they aren't doing anything from the yellow auras.

  • @dugman said:

Just FYI they also did a massive ban wave last week. Not sure how many people it impacted but if only a few percent of people playing were cheating and got banned that would be a few percent of the concurrent players on average drop right there.

Yep. I've noticed a lot less SUS behavior in all of my matches (Survivor and Killer).

  • @Hawk81584 said:

the truth is...solo q is basically unplayable. but somehow killers want to be buffed to the point they can destroy swfs...i have taken a step back from the game lately just because i have lost all confidence the devs will actually do anything to make the game better. They are too blind adding new killers to the game than to fix what needs to be fixed.

Similar thoughts. I noticed that a lot of my matches when I play as a Killer have a completely different set of Survivors. They all seem to work together and sometimes I can't even find one. Kind of like Night and Day in terms of how different they've been for me.

  • I'm a Doctor-main and he's not bad at all. it's true, sometimes I can't get a kill but most of my matches are 3k-4k. There was a glitch recently that prevented Static Shock from having any effect but I haven't noticed it happening as of this week.

  • @I_CAME said:

Nearly every survivor will stand at the exit gate until the timer expires unless the killer goes and pushes them out. They have no right to complain about the killer dragging the game out slightly by slugging for the 4K.

LOL I don't even bother with them unless I'm trying to end the match. I don't go near those Survivors at that point simply because they want the Killer there so they can teabag or just leave if you try to hit them. I don't go near the gate if it's open because many of them standing there just want a reaction from the Killer. Don't give them the satisfaction.

  • There's nothing wrong with slugging. Personally, I wouldn't do it but that's only because I tend to get matched with very SUS Survivor teams when I play as the Killer. I will however stay close to someone crawling if the Survivor team decided to body-block/ push me while sabbing the nearest hook.

  • I'm a 50/50 (Survivor/Killer) and Insidious Bubba is my guilty pleasure :-)

  • I said it before and I'll say it again... I'm not understanding the "hate" for this map. The only two perks that can cause an issue on the survivor side if multiple characters are running them are Iron Will and Shadow Step. I had a sneaky SWF who thought it would be cute to mess around and this is why map memorization helped. It was down to her and another Nea and I knew at that point one of them kept setting a boon. Rather than moving to a different boon, one of them kept going to the STARS Office. me being the huge RE nerd that I am decided to use the side staircase (only in DBD not RE) so when Insidious kicked in, I was ready. Not only was she annoyed that I outplayed her, but I found her other friend hiding in an uncommon area just waiting for me to DC. Yes, shadow step is a big problem on this map but I also enjoy the challenge. I had a huge advantage simply because I memorized the layout.

I also see complaints about the back exit and how it changes location... again, not a big deal. I never outright jump onto a generator without scouting the map to an extent. As a survivor, I count at least 4 different hiding places. In terms of both sides, just knowing the map will give you an advantage. Surprisingly, I get a lot of 4k's on this map but there are times when I can't get anyone. And you need to remember something else... you may just be going against people that are cheating. As a Killer, never walk into a match expecting a 4k and as a Survivor, never walk into a match expecting everyone to escape. Some players are skilled and coordinated and some aren't but like I said, some people pretend to be skilled when they're actually cheating. Do with that what you will.

That doesn't really follow the discussion topic, since being unhookable is a form of counterplay for everyone but PH.

Who's your favorite killer to play as?

Doctor main because he's just fun to play and he can easily rack up the BP. I recently started Insidious Basement Bubba (or just Insidious Bubba if I'm too far from a basement) and he's just fun in general... for the Killer anyway lol.

  • No more Autohaven or Swamp... I'm just dreaming. Whenever someone brings Azarov's Key or Grandma's Cookbook, I just sigh and think, "Why would anyone ever bring those offerings..." When I first started playing two years ago it really didn't matter. But now, I'm over both offerings/ maps because of how often I get sent to both.

  • It depends on the map (which is random without an offering). Actually, let me dig deeper into this. Some of the maps have blind spots which can make hooking rather difficult if survivors are running certain builds. Since I play random matches most of the time, I run Tenacity, Boil Over, Flip-Flop, and Power Struggle. FF never gets swapped out just because of what it does. Even a little bit of recovery can mean the difference between wiggling out and getting hooked and it can automatically activate Power Struggle which has helped me find hatch dozens of times. Back to the original point, there are ways to counter this as a Killer. If you know there's a hook nearby, dropping down isn't the end of the world, but you have to consider how long the survivor was down and consider the fact that they might have FF. Iron Grasp and Agitation are being used as a counter to a lot of issues. As a survivor, I hate both of those perks but as a killer, they are pretty useful. Also, if it's an SWF, feel free to just slug because they might have DS.

  • Map ideas:

Shopping mall, office building, movie theater, abandoned village, derelict building, opera house, an actual hospital (similar to Lery's), ghost ship (or even a cruise ship), cathedral, etc. I could keep going on how many potential ideas I have for new maps... the same old maps have people way too comfortable on both sides.

Literally no one has this 'rulebook'. STRANGERS on the INTERNET are living rent-free in your DBD head. Play however you want and disable messaging, you're clearly not mentally capable of handling online whining.

So it does/ doesn't exist and the whining has gotten to me? Bro...

  • @Heartbound said:

Every time I run a loop without a survivor present to guide me for more than a minute they come up to check and see if I'm okay.

Really though those boons take a while to set up and I brought that item because I wanted to use it. It makes me feel safe and I'm emotionally attached to it.

(Franklin's backfires on me a lot btw, I've lost my flashlight to a Franklin's user in chase and had another survivor come behind me and use my flashlight to save me after I go down. I didn't get that flashlight back but it's still out there somewhere.)

Yeah Franklins is a double-edged sword. I prefer Lightborn just to save myself some headaches. I had a squad that just kept flashing me all game even after they saw it wasn't working.

don't forget you aren't allowed to use any effective strategies, perks, killers, or addons

Apparently according to the saltiness, "Insidious Bubba is reportable! How dare you take my fun away!" Like bi*ch please... you looped me and lost me with Shadow Step how many times? And If I know your teammates are nearby, why would I leave?

  • @pizzaduffyhp90 said:

That's there "rule book" you can't play the game and if you do they'll whine and complain. It's very fun to break the "rule book" since it's blah blah blah no camping, tunneling, slugging, bringing a perk, etc blah blah blah

It's insane! I never understood when I was a survivor main. Now I see how killers have it. No matter what you do, as the killer, you are always wrong. I finally caught a survivor that kept setting a totem and she sent a slew of nasty messages talking about my lack of skill. Like seriously... just say GG and take the L.

I don't understand how there are still people that haven't learned RPD. I swear dude, the devs put a roof on a map and the average player's response is to throw themselves to the floor and cry.

Not only is the RPD a good map, it's noticeably better than a lot of maps in the game. Honestly, would you rather play Shelter woods, Rotten fields, Cowshed, Torment creek, both swamps, or Ormond?

RPD isn't even something new players have to deal with. The strategy you bring to RPD is the same as Azarov's resting place.

Thank you! I just had a 4k as Bubba. It just takes time to learn that you can't go swinging everywhere in the narrow hallways. I can't tell you how many survivors I've cut-off just for knowing the map. (Me: "Oh good you jumped there? I'll see you downstairs.") I get yelled at for "cheating" when in reality I've memorized the layout thanks to RE2.

This is too much since today MMR is too difficult for killers I only got matched against 1% elite toxic bullies, I didn't win any matches at all. I'm barely new to this game but I have to go against pro survivors but that's not the problem I'd try to improve myself against such players but too many bullies when they're better than you.

This match for example played against ACE and another toxic Claudette basically the Ace is too fast dodged every hit and abuses every tile I manage to down everyone once but couldn't so he keeps clicking the flash light in my face over and over and over and over he kept spamming it every second and when ever he vaults or dodges something he teabags multiple times and does 360 rotations as a toxic gesture and the Claudette was his friend I had to protect one camp for at least getting 1 kill out of the match then they managed to open the game but instead of leaving they kept searching the map for me and clicked flashlights to my face and tea bagged and abused dead hard I can't remember how many hits were going to down them but they did use dead hard the second I hit anyone of this duo.

What makes it even worst I got flamed and made fun of in post game chat .

They kept taunting and used dead hard on the exit gate to teabag and escape in the last seconds so at least make some restrictions or fixes:

-Code it that flashlights can't be spammed that way tons of times in few seconds .

-I noticed every game that survivors will spam crouching after they open the gate so block the ability to crouch at the exit gates or something or rework the mechanics so it can't be used to bully others

-Fix the mmr so you don't get matched with survivors that played the game 10000 hours more than you did literally ? at least make it mixed 1 pro survivor 2 decent survivor 1 weak survivor .

-I had no pressure even if I injured everyone multiple times they had circle of healing and I got body blocked and hooks were sabotaged so please nerf COH

-Dead Hard is too unfair denies you a down and extends the chase much longer against good players and I can't count how many auto dead hard hacks I've gone against because it's impossible for a player to trigger it too many times that easy .

I face-camp them with Bubba. At least one survivor isn't making it out alive. Shake your head for an added effect.

  • @VirtuaTyKing said:

I just had 3 oak offerings and 3 boil overs in one game.

I could barely manage a hook.

    I don't know if I'm high mmr but if I am TBH I wish I wasn't.

None of them were even that good in the chase. Yet I get a 1k.

Utter garbage and I'm getting sick of it.

Iron Grasp helps. I'm doing Insidious Basement Bubba and these SWF's aren't happy. I've been getting threatened all week... over a game.

  • No problem. I'm glad the issue is finally being addressed. Just imagine how many people have been doing it while claiming "skill." I learned not to take this game too seriously but when it's match after match...

  • During the Christmas season, four randoms (myself included) decided to run a scavenger build (Ace in the hole, Plunderers, Appraisal) and we all brought the purple coin (forgot the name). It was the RPD and Michael was the killer. We all decided to repeatedly scavenge the chests and we brought all of the items back to the main hall/ front desk. The Michael was just looking around at us and we all just put items infront of him as an offering. He went wild shaking his head. We all just chilled for awhile. Must have been around a dozen items with add-ons.

Another time, I played as Ghostface and led a Conga Line throughout Lery's. We even played Red light, Green light, one, two, three. Good times!

I've always wondered about people being able to cheat on DBD while playing on consoles

It's not like cheating on consoles was a new thing, people used to cheat quite a lot in MW2 and the like way back when. I just figured it doesn't really happen these days due to it being generally not worth it/impractical due to various technical factors. Plus I think you need a PC to cheat on consoles right? To get the software and such

You might as well just cheat on PC at that point but idk.

I find it hilarious how some cheaters can bypass the crossplay function though

I've noticed it in the past but others always dismissed my claims as false. I even passed it off as a connection issue or lag at times. It usually happens at the end of a match where a hit clearly connects, the survivor yells as if they should be on the floor, and they just keep running. Those individuals are more than likely subtle cheaters and they try to blame things like poor connection.

    Yes.

I think if you use it for offline things, it's less likely to draw attention to yourself.

I'm wondering why these four individuals just decided to openly cheat at the end of a match. It wasn't cute or funny and it just made them look pathetic.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2910953#Comment_2910953

Supposedly, BHVR's anti-cheat banned a LOT of people recently.

Likewise, Sony and MS will absolutely care if you jailbreak their newer systems.

Yes I just heard about it! I have an update regarding the four PSN accounts. I just checked and sure enough, PSN responded to my reports and so did Behavior. All four individuals were in fact PSN users and their accounts have been permanently banned. Apparently, cheating is a big business though so it isn't guaranteed that these individuals won't be back in some form.

  • Michaels and Legions seem to do pretty well on that map.

  • @Marc_123 said:

No thanks. It is a really cool map.

Just learn it. It is not that difficult as it seems at the beginning. A lot of people liked it better with time - maybe because it is a bit more complicated than the other maps.

And no, we do not have enough maps for variety. We need more maps. The loss of Hawkins is already too much.

Maybe we will get tweaks over time. And it is easy or hard for every killer as are all other maps. Good killers can win there and bad killers can lose there.

Agreed on all counts. I only wish more matches were in the RPD. I'm tired of the same old maps (Swamp/ Autohaven) match after match. I have a long list of potential maps but sadly I'm not being heard.

Ahh touche... to my dungeon with you :-P

  • I enjoy the RPD as both a killer and survivor. I may not always get a 4k as a killer but I still have fun. The map is not difficult to learn whatsoever. It's pretty much identical to the RPD in the RE2 Remake. I'm finding this to be the exact problem... people are so stuck on maps like Autohaven that they refuse to learn any newer maps. Again, it's really not difficult... a few extra doorways and some stairs but it's pretty much the same as the RE2 Remake. DBD needs new maps... I don't like this level of stagnation.

  • @BenOfMilam said:

I have played this game for thousands of hours. Moet of those spent on crossplay off. Everytime I have seen someone accuse someone else of being a cheater on crossplay off, they were either salty or didn't understand a mechanic.

I have never ever seen someone use cheats from a console. I have seen people lagswitch, abuse bugs, hold me hostage ect. I have never seen someone do what you are describing.

You are either mistaken or incredibly unlucky to find the one group who decided to go through the arduous task of getting cheats on their system.

I'll admit, I expected them to deny my accusations but they openly admitted to it. They were probably being subtle throughout the match but at the end, they pretty much showed me that it was impossible to do anything to them.

  • @Deathstroke said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2910248#Comment_2910248

So you probably use them just for trolling? My basement bubba build is insidious, agitation, iros grasp and monsterous shrine or noed so I don't usually have room for them. In rare occasions I use one of them but usually franklin demise cause survivors make stupid plays to get their item back and it takes away their med kits and toolboxes as well.

My build is similar. I hate Iron Grasp as a survivor but it's a must for certain killer builds. I had one SUS player that managed to wiggle out without Boil Over so now I try my best to see if I want to attempt carrying survivors all the way to basement (depending on where they fall).

  • @jinxykinz said:

I play on Xbox and there are definitely cheaters if I turn cross play off. I specifically remember one game a week ago where one of the survivors clearly had infinite dead hard, extra speed boosts with no exhaustion, what felt like tier 20 boil over and the perk where you can search chests twice. On the score screen, the perks they had equipped were self care, bond, deliverance and decisive strike. Another survivor in that game was able to bless totems in about .5 seconds and nobody failed a skill check the whole game. My loadout included merciless storm, lullaby and unnerving presence. I guess those survivors just had really good gaming chairs?

Exactly! I never like to outright accuse anyone of cheating but sometimes it's so obvious. Just a few weeks ago I had two Meg's and Zarina's that all DC'ed because I countered all of their cheats. They were all on PSN but from the looks of things, they were new to the cheating world. They had no add-ons and all of them had Boil Over when I went to pick them up. Fast forward to end-game, none of their perks equipped were Boil Over or anything even remotely similar to what I encountered in-game.

As for my match yesterday, people were insta-recovering from crawling with no active boons or anything that should have allowed for that. At first I thought it was "For the People" since they did have that perk but if that were the case, at least two of the four survivors should have automatically gone into "Broken" status which never happened.

Yeah I know getting hacks/cheats on console is different then getting them on PC.

I remember about that in GTA that was something with the moneybags in the armored bank trucks? Right?

If Sony finds out their screwed. I know that console is shut down from online I'm not sure about offline and that account is deleted.

Yeah it was something like that. I think it was hackers going around dropping money bags in infinite amounts. Rockstar and Sony took it very seriously.

I believe they have to pay to get the cheats on that console by someone. I don't know if I'm right or not. I know it's different for a PC.

I don't understand why pay for the console and get the cheats pay to play online only to risk getting your system deactivate. It makes nonsenses to me.

They do. I could be wrong but I think it's a bit different for PC players. If someone is cheating on console, they need to shell out $$$. With actual proof I'm pretty sure that PSN will outright ban the associated IP. I remember when GTA V money hacks started years ago. Anti-cheat software automatically detected those individuals and they were banned without any questions asked.

I heard stories about PSN messaging but I didn't know they were that strict. I guess it's considered threatening or defamatory according to their TOS.

Plenty of people cheat via console. It's not impossible. There are literally guides posted on how to do it.

Survivors: It all depends. My characters are all maxed out so it's mostly based on whatever cosmetics I'm feeling.

Yeah I don' message anyone unless it's a gg or I have a smartass comment I come up with.

If there's proof they'll do what needs to be done.

There are so many people in the DBD community that always use the phrase, "But I'm on console. I can't cheat." I come from the days of offline consoles when Gameshark and other cheat devices were a thing. Just imagine what people can do now that consoles have wireless internet.

  • @I_am_Negan said:

If they were cheating and their on PlayStation Sony will deactivate those consoles.

Yeah I'm hoping thats the case. PSN seems to be much more strict in terms of addressing threats, cheating, etc. I literally called someone a "Loser" once and received a warning just a few hours later (first offense so I'm not bothering with messages anymore). Behavior should take a lesson.

  • @Pepsidot said:

It is a bit of a waste of a perk because as soon as you know the killer is using it, just play as if you don't have a flashlight. That's -1 perk for the rest of the game.

That's the interesting part... some people give up but others keep trying to blind me. It's kind of a 50/50 situation I guess.

  • @DrDeepwound said:

Run Franklins instead. The goal is not to go without being blinded, the goal is to destroy the flashlight. ;)

Agreed. If I'm in the mood, I'll just add Franklins along with Lightborn. I'm doing Insidious Basement Bubba and trust me... none of the SWF's have been happy. I've been getting death threats over a game for the past week. Imagine that lol.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2906683#Comment_2906683

That would be stubidiest idea ever wasting perk slot for that there is risk someone finds flashlight in chest. But if you really fear that risk so much use franklin demise so you can take all of their items away but even that is bit waste of perk slot

I agree with you. Sometimes I'll add Franklins and Lightborn just to make them lose their "clicker." All of my Killers are maxed out so it's not an issue of BP for me.

  • @Pulsar said:

Crossplay off doesn't stop cheaters from PC from getting into your lobby.

That's just it. They weren't on PC. They had PSN profiles which I reported to both DBD and PSN. They were openly bragging about what they do. I saved their profile names as well.

I use Call of Brine a lot and the amount of times somebody finishes a gen that was nearly dead and within the minute that CoB is active on that gen and I get NO notifications is really surprising. Perfect great skill checks for basically 90-95% of a gen in under 60 seconds. I have a hard time believing that. 2 people doing 4 gens with no toolboxes and I'm assuming no Prove Thyself is also complete BS. It'd take a little over 3 minutes if they both worked together and you said just under 2 minutes? That's not even subtle. That's blatant as hell.

I just had an entire group of PSN cheaters/ hackers. They weren't popping gens but they sure as hell were shoving their insta-healing/ speed/ no chainsaw damage in my face. It was the first time that any group on console has openly admitted to cheating so blatantly. Of course I wasn't even recording so theres nothing that I can do.

  • I found a somewhat decent counter to CoH... Behavior should add more Perks/ Killer add-ons that inflict "Broken." It seems to work well when I play Bubba because they know better than to try standing anywhere near me at that point. For anyone that doesn't know, "Broken" prevents the survivor(s) from healing for a set amount of time.
