    SWF.

I guess you missed the part that mentioned we will be disregarding SWF for the intentions of this post. Try reading the entire thing, including the last paragraph.

The ability for 4 people to have fun shouldn't come at the expense of the 1, especially when the 4 are breaking the entire game by playing together in the first place.

There will always be someone not having fun in this game. If the killer is having fun, the survivors will probably not have as much fun and vice versa. That's just how it is. When you play a game you risk losing if going up against better players, but that's how you learn and get better. You win some, you lose some. I don't get why people get so worked up over it. Accept the challenge in stead of whining.

"Accept the challenge" when the challenge is objectively breaking the balance. The game is balanced around solo players, ask Mathieu Cote himself. Watch the Depip Squad win nearly 100 matches in a row because the Survivors goals are super easy on top of using SWF. Watch McLean even admit that SWF isnt balanced.

There is no challenge. It's completely one sided if the survivors aren't a bunch of potatoes. You can't argue this with me. The science is there as well as evidence straight up from the dev team.

There are plenty of games where everyone has fun...some game where the killer has fun (and by extension the survivors might not), and vice versa. It's a game though, just move on to the next one?

"Its just a game" and "move on to the next one" are the highest levels of dismissal as well as your failure to acknowledge that SWF breaks the balance.

    I'll be moving on.

  • The ability for 4 people to have fun shouldn't come at the expense of the 1, especially when the 4 are breaking the entire game by playing together in the first place.

  • Fairly certain the update that talks about the new cosmetic shop mentions it will also hold Licensed Killer cosmetics. They will have them, it just might take a while to get the rights to do so.

  • @Visionmaker then make the timer 1:30 and give the Survivors a full minute to choose.

@only1biggs I dont ppst bait lmao I'm 100% serious unless I'm obviously being sarcastic or say otherwise.

  • What the game needs to do is lock in Survivors and force them to ready up at the 30 second mark and disallow leaving and are forced to use whatever they currently have selected AT the 30 second mark. If you disconnect as a Survivor after the 30 second mark, you get hit with a 2 hour penalty. The Killer is continued to be allowed to pick his gear after 30 seconds, but also cannot leave the match anymore. This way both dodging and last second switches would be addressed. Knock out two birds with one stone.

  • Yeah now you just get spammed flags. At least now the mods will be able to determine the people that abused the system easier.

Just because it isnt scary doesnt make it not horror. Kind of weird that statement, but the simple fact it has "monsters" in it still makes it horror.

    Definition from wikipedia:
A horror film is a film that seeks to elicit a physiological reaction, such as an elevated heartbeat, through the use of fear and shocking one’s audiences.+

More specific "survival horror" as a genre in PC games:
Survival horror is a subgenre of video games inspired by horror fiction that focuses on survival of the character as the game tries to frighten **players with either horror graphics or scary ambience. Although combat can be part of the gameplay, the player is made to feel **less in control than in typical action games through limited ammunition, health, speed and vision, or through various obstructions of the player's interaction with the game mechanics. The player is also challenged to find items that unlock the path to new areas and solve puzzles to proceed in the game. Games make use of strong horror themes, like dark maze-like environments and unexpected attacks from enemies.

The only horror moments I had in this game were a no terror radius myers (only once sadly) and playing against a pig when I was able to play with sound.
Beside from that I had a few jump moments when a P3 claudette jumped out of nowwhere and dropped a pallet on me.

Just because that description of horror doesnt subjectively apply to you doesnt mean it doesnt apply yo everyone. I definitely wouldn't call this Survival Horror, but it is horror nonetheless.

This should never apply for killer.
Killer are meant to be able to change their loadout depending on what they see stalking their prey at the campfire.
Why should a killer bring FD when no survivor brings any items?

To me thats to bad then. You should bring what you think will be necessary even if its not, You cant prepare for everything. Like you can bring FD but what if you dont even hit anyone ( ive seen it happen before)

In that case no perks would help you because you're just a terrible Killer if you never land a single hit.

  • @Steebear said:
Balancing the game for the entire player base is an impossible job.

At the top end of the ranks the survivors have the advantage but at the lower end it is the killers.

I am sympathetic but I would rather be challenged as a killer at the top ranks and struggle sometimes to do well rather than know that people that struggle as survivior in the lower ranks are getting competely wrecked.

It is a tough one to sort out!

This isnt true. Survivors always have the advantage. You shouldn't balance the game around the fact people are terrible, which is what BHVR does.

  • They said they temporarily removed it for "overhauling." It'll be back, they are just adjusting it probably to make it easier for the mods.

Still, doesnt mean they had to remove what already was working until then.

  • Just because it isnt scary doesnt make it not horror. Kind of weird that statement, but the simple fact it has "monsters" in it still makes it horror.

  • The Hunter in Deathgarden is sure to be nerfed.

  • @Jack11803 I told you not to use my color.... you cannot use it.. you aren't worthy... the forums didnt even let it work for you as proof muahahaha

  • No, this would absolutely gimp the Doc. He's already a mid tier Kiler. He's perfect how he is.

  • I like the new changes lol bitter murmur NOED meta anyone?

  • Nothing is stopping people from resorting to phone calls to talk to each other so the Killer can't hear them, which I feel like this community would definitely do.

  • The game is already balanced around solo players. If you did this you would need to considerably buff the Killer to be able to take into account teamcomms, like in Deathgarden. But that would require an entire game overhaul. Perhaps wait until Deathgarden is out and just play that?

  • It's possible for the hatch to spawn in the Killer's house despite the basement being there.

You should just fall through the fall and onto the hook lmao

  • Sometimes you just have to know when to let something go, and I'm not telling you to quit, but this game does reasonably burn Killers out, but the devs simply don't seem to care too much.

I don't think anything major like first person will ever be put into this game. If you don't have faith they can balance things in the Roadmap, I would say either wait for Dead by Daylight 2, Deathgarden, or move on to new competition in the future like Last Year and Hide Or Die.

I have seen absurdly strong juking spots, but no infinites for a while.
At some point you just catch up with bloodlust and manage to hit or force the survivor to use a pallet before conveniently going back to the same vault, oftenly, which is painful but not infinite.

These kind of spots are potentially too strong (not all of them tho, clearly), but I don't see many infinites. Possibly a few windows in lerys, or some very rare occurence on haddonfield I guess ?

Rancid Abattoir side window would like to have a word with you lmao

  • No, they said they won't ever bring it back because they were too busted on certain maps. They are still available for use in Kill Your Friends however, and since you don't lose progress in the PTB, feel free to throw them down!

  • +1 This is scientific fact this man speaks here, not opinion. As a Survivor Main, we have way too many options. Survival should be difficult, not difficult only after you've exhausted your Get Out of Jail Free cards.

We should just have a vent topic on the forum to seperate it. That alone could help maybe a little... I don’t know

That wont backfire in any way shape or form.

  • The fact I can get so many downvotes and hate for telling people stuff like looping isnt needed shows this place is a Survivor echo chamber.

Thankfull it seems like there are more people WITH sense than without it on these forums. As soon as mine or @Runiver have a negative ratio to our Upvotes and Downvotes, you might wanna worry.

I disagree with Tru3. They don't need to make escaping easier. I escape pretty easily all the time against most Killers. The ones I don't escape I lead on a 3 minute wild goose chase that involves 0 looping at all.

Theydont need to once more make things easier for Survivors. And while I do agree there are some adjustments that should be made on Coldwind maps, most of the problems when it comes to escaping Killers is simply a skill in this game.

That contradicts the point of adding additional ways to juke then... Remove loops and add options to juke. I like the slide underground suggestion.

Because escaping is hard to begin with. What rank are you at? Cause high ranks, a good killer is able to track. Not impossible, but most of my escapes are clutch jukes. And they last so long. I play mad mindgames that I gotta withhold the same predictable movement for 1 minute and add in something unpredictable.

I'd like to say I'm a good player if I'm able to reach Rank 1 without using pallet looping.

That is good. Better than most players. I am also a Rank 1 Survivor. The strategies I employ work no matter what Rank I happen to be at, and I've been playing the same way since I started Day 1.

The reason they need to add more juke LoS points is solely to further nerf looping, not actually to help survivors although this change did inadvertently help.

They need to add larger LoS blockers at loop locations I agree. What this does, combined with the pallet changes, is allow the Killer to play mindgames with the survivor, possibly making him choose the wrong side and eating a hit. Whereas if the Survivor finds an opportunity, he can simply dip out of the situation altogether and get the Killer off his trail.

I pretty much play in a fashion that gives me optimal LoS breakage already. I personally won't be affected by the pallet changes, in fact it'll just help me out more than hinder me based on my playstyle. I don't think it makes the game "easier," it just changes it up and forces people to adapt to the fact they are no longer 100% safe. If you've already been playing in a risky fashion that doesn't involve looping, these changes will not affect you one single bit.

they seem to care more about cosmetics than balancing, so yeah this will probably be their priority.

It baffles me to think that people still don't understand the cosmetic team/art team do not work on gameplay mechanics or balancing at all. So they should just twiddle their thumbs the whole time I'm guessing?

it's still putting time and resources in a different place, especially since everyone's been asking for balance for a lot longer and most of it hasn't come

This doesn't mean they can just leave their artists without a job for 4 months while they work on the balance. That's not how game design works.

I get what you're saying about the artists but that doesn't change the fact that more people are asking for balancing than cosmetics, and we're getting more cosmetics than balancing

I disagree. Balancing is a delicate thing and you can't throw too much balancing at once in a game like this without risk of breaking it even more. Yeah it's taken them a while, but they also just acquired themselves as completely independent on the DbD project, so give them some time. 2.0 represents and entire overhauling of the game, including cosmetics. Considering they are making DLC characters obtainable for free, they need some way to make money off of the multiplayer game, you know what I mean?

More funding means more balancing and more updates. Just think about that. Let the roadmap play out a bit more. I think this update will have the right amount of balancing and new content.

Agree, they definitely need to make more LoS blockers around open loop locations. Then mindgames and jukes could be possible under the new pallet mechanics.

Meh. That's only so much though. I want more ways to escape, not have to always to play mindgames JUST to. Open maps like Coldwind and Autohaven make you really easily traceable. LoS blockers at pallets isn't really what I was hoping for. I want a complete new mechanic for escaping.

Like Tru3Ta1ent mentioned once, make it easier for the survivors to escape. Because the way to play this game is more so being up in their face and waste time til they either get bored for find a window of opportunity to do a slight juke. And that's just, meh. Not everyones way of playing. Myself, I hate pallet looping, it sucks. And I don't even touch killer much.

Wraith is gonna struggle no matter what you choose. Definitely say you need something like Ruin on that Killer.

As far as M&A vs Shadowborn, most will argue M&A is the better choice simply because of the TR manipulation. With Wraith though, your cloak and uncloak always give away your general distance from the Survivors.

Really, Wraith is so low on the list you can pretty much run whatever you want and he's still gonna have a difficult time. Agitation can help, but a replacement for BBQ, on such a weak character? Eh, I wouldn't do it personally but you can make it happen.

The BBQ is mostly for the bloodpoint boost tbh, the aura thing is secondary. I would like Ruin but I'm too lazy to level up the Hag so I've been waiting for it to pop in the shrine. And, just to clarify, you're saying it doesn't really matter between Shadowborn and M&A?

I would say it's more or less personal preference now that they removed the negative effects from Shadowborn. M&A has utility, but Shadownborn has reliability for the entire match. Just see which one works out better for you.

But tbh, what else can survivors do to escape?

Looping isnt trying to escape. It's wasting the Killers time.

If people actually focused on trying to learn how to escape and less time running in circles maybe they'd figure it out. I never loop and I lose Killers all the time. The people that think Killers are impossible to lose or break the chase against are simply ill-experienced.

Breaking line of sight is always the number 1 rule to actually escaping a Killer. Breaking LoS and moving to a new location or double backing etc, doing some crazy mindgame during a pallet break or something rather than running in a straight line or just ducking into some nearby corner etc.

I can give you all the tips I want to escape a Killer. But until you attempt it yourself and learn how to do it yourself, you'll just continue to think looping is the only way.

there are enough swf in random groups out there. why should they be punished? sure, you have swf grp sometimes and then you loose....that's it. dbd is not meant to be a "killing all everytime" game. so stand your man when you loose, next game it will be better....maybe or maybe not. but waiting for the "right" lobby, because otherwise it is "unfair" is just trolling.

The devs have stated the Killer has a right to choose his victims.

Play within the intended balance and you wont get dodged. Play solo, the way the game is meant to be played

right, there are bad swf and bad killers. it seems, that only the bad killers write in the forum, whining and crying for more and more nerfs...but all the mimimi about balancing is not the point in this thread...it is about dodging. dodging because it is "unfair" in someones point of view is just trolling. and again if it be a progressive penalty it wouldn't harm dodging because of ping. disconnects on the other side should always be punished (for survivors also!!).
there is no excuse. you can see the swf and you can set your perks before the game starts. so prepare and play!

Until they fix last second switching, dodging will remain a thing.

Also I'm a Survivor Maim and I still recognize this game is unbalanced and that Survivors are OP. Nerfs DO need to happen lmao

  • If you don't sell your DLC for an online game, you gotta make money somehow and that would likely be through microtransactions. Hopefully they will allow us to unlock the Very Rare outfits for Shards, just make it a very high amount required.

If they gave the Very Rare outfits unique animations then I'd say they'd be worth 10 bucks.
