  • I still really want to see a sort of Vision Ward Boon that reveals the killers aura to the person who blessed the totem any time the killer is in its radius. Then maybe if the killer snuffs the totem, all survivors can see their aura very briefly.

If this seems too powerful then just change it around so it affects survivors: if a survivor is in the boon's radius they have their aura revealed to the other survivors and they are able to see everyone else's auras from within the totem. Kinda like Kindred / Bond.

I really want to see Boons that give info

  • Reasons to be worried about her:

She can potentially injure survivors from anywhere on the map, through walls and obstacles if they are swarmed and get hit by a dire crow. That is nutty

She can pretty freely scout and harass survivors off of gens or even her hex totem(s) by firing off dire crows towards them. Huge information and set up for injuring survivors who get swarmed with crows

Using her power correctly in loops creates a situation where survivors either stay in the loop and almost certainly take damage from dire crows OR hold W and leave the loop where she will likely catch up to them and M1 because she is 115% despite her anti loop and ranged attack potential

She's very strong but we're not allowed to talk about it because killer mains think she will be gutted before hitting live. Regardless, I'm going to acknowledge her potential and discuss it because I'm hype to play as her and she already seems better than most of the cast.

  • I can't wait for god Artists to be the new Nurse

I genuinely mean that and I'm not saying it from a place of "hoping to get her nerfed". I genuinely think this killer is nutty and in the hands of people who master her she will have the greatest potential of any killer in the game. I mean honestly, she can injure survivors from across the map through walls and obstacles with well timed/placed shots.

That is insane. Even if you don't end up injuring them you can still use these crows to scout gens and harass survivors off of them or your totems. Idk why so many people are getting so triggered at people coming out and saying that she will be/is very strong because she is lol

Killers have wanted a strong killer to be added to the game for a while now and is like suddenly we're not allowed to discuss it

  • @Shroompy said:

Thing is when a killer camps it is a green light for Survivors to get gens done, there is absolutely nothing stopping them from doing so.

Is it an annoying strategy? Absolutely, especially for the person on the hook, but there are many counters to it.

Is it fair when a killer face camps their first victim to death and the other three 3 survivors rush out gens like they're "supposed to" but then get hit with No Way Out + NOED + Remember Me/Bloodwarden and the killer in question gets 2 or even more kills from that?

I've had this happen many times before and it's the scummiest play style I've ever experienced but hey it seems like easy MMR gain

Something needs to be done about face camping during the early game. Even if they give the person being camped consolation BP in a certain category like Objectives or something to make the experience less of a complete waste of time.

Again I have no issue otherwise with things like proxy camping, slugging, tunneling etc but I really feel like if you face camp you shouldn't be playing this game because it's literally ruining the game for everyone involved and it's usually poor solo queue survivors who get this

  • I would enjoy an extra main objective of some kind. Increasing gen speeds creates WAY more balance issues than it is worth. Also it's not really fun or engaging to sit on a gen for an excruciatingly long time.

I'm not sure what could be done to add another MANDATORY objective but it would help break up the game and give survivors something else to do which honestly they need a little something extra.

  • The way I look at it is if we get LGBTQIA+ representation then yayy but I won't be upset if it never happens in a blatant way.

This is coming from someone who is trans like, I just really am not crazy about it. If they do I just want it to be good and make sense. I'd love it even if they made existing characters confirmed as being LGBT+

Like if BHVR came out and said Nea is lesbian / non-binary I'd be happy with that lol

All in all I openly welcome representation done right but I don't demand it nor do I want it to be forced. I like how open things are left to us, the fan base, to interpret things tbh

(All that being said a trans and or non-binary survivor would be so cool 😅)

  • Undying, Retribution and Haunted Grounds are really good together for punishing survivors who insist on cleansing/blessing.

Running a Hex heavy build might not sound attractive to killers but it's the best option you've got right now. You can see your own lit Hex totems at the start of the match so you'll know where they are should they be cleansed/blessed over. Additionally, it takes considerably longer to bless a hex totem which means more time wasted on the survivors end.

Exposed from Haunted Grounds and aura reveal from Retribution will let you get an easy down and bypass CoH as well as things like Dead Hard and start snowballing pressure.

If you're not going to do a hex heavy build I highly recommend Bloodhound to help with tracking people through Shadow Step and catching people trying to heal themselves since Nurse's Calling won't help but nobody believes me on the Bloodhound thing.

  • @steamed_hamzzz said:

    How are they fair?

short answer is, they aren’t. You get the full effect of fast heals and no scratch marks or auras no matter what level you’re on and if the killer wants to stop this, they not only have to abandon chase but head off on a completely different floor to the survivor! By that time they’ve fully healed up and ready to bless the next totem

how this made it past testing I have no idea, you can tell the devs never play killer, I just had a match on Midwich and it was absolute torture, I got zero value from ‘A Nurses Calling’ and was losing track of survivors so much I just gave up on being nice and had to resort to face camping the hook just to try and secure one kill

Boon totems are bad enough on open maps, but on indoor maps, especially paired with ‘Iron Will’ good luck tracking anyone before they’ve fully healed mid chase

Try Bloodhound instead of Nurse's Calling.

    Thank me later.

  • I will say a Pinhead that uses Hoarder + Longer solve addons + Ruin/Undying is not fun to go up against because if he manages to chain his Chain Hunts together you don't really get to play the game as survivor and it's not fun.

For me right now though, I'd say most obnoxious is Spirits who run Mother Daughter Ring + Dried Cherry Blossom and then proceed to try and instigate in the end game chat. If you use that combination please just move on to the next match stop trying to convince us you're a god spirit or try to rub salt in the wound lol

Other than all that the worst of all time is face camping Bubbas who use NOED. They're always the actual worst and toxic to boot.

I'll take a Starstruck Nurse or a sweaty Blight over the above any day of the week because at least I know that the person is actually putting in effort to do well.

  • @Gamedozer7 said:

It seems like every patch lately they are coming out with something to shut down killer strategies. Killers try to snowball nope CoH will take that, ok well we will slug then yeah we're releasing a anti slug boon. So now the only strategies a killer has is camp and tunnel for pressure or end up with 4 hooks and a 4 man out. I don't understand what they are thinking severely wearing killer strategies but not giving us anything to make up for it. I don't like camping or tunneling but it seem like lately its the only consistent strategy to apply pressure.

Slugging always has and always will be a high risk high reward strategy. Exponential really doesn't change that at all. If you hear a Boon buzzing maybe don't leave survivors slugged in that area and even then, Unbreakable still exists and people will continue to run that because it is guaranteed without needing to be in range of a Boon.

Also I like that we are completely ignoring the addition of Grim Embrace, a really solid perk that incentivize Killers leave the hook and try to hook everyone once and spread the pressure for a powerful effect.

But I get it, we would rather ignore perks that reward stuff like that. Seriously, I wish more people would use Devour Hope or Make Your Choice and hopefully the new Grim Embrace because when you get value off of these it feels so rewarding and satisfying

  • @drakolyr said:

Often matches are shorter and you go out of a match faster.

Why survivors dont get much bloodpoints in general?

A killer gets more BP in every action. Also the categories are easier to do as a killer.

I mean, its frustrating after i got camped or tunneled out of a match and only get 3k BP.

But even when a killer has a bad match, he's still around 15 - 20k bloodpoints.

The categories are terrible aswell, especially if some guys die fast.

Team actions are often earned hard, cause you cant do much. Doing a gen together, healing or taking a hit. There aren't that much more.

The only category you get fast, is target. Generators and exit gates.

I mean, one of the categories for bloodpoints is survival. And mostly you get it trough skillchecks. Cause, camped or tunneled and its out.

Boldness depends on the killer. With boon totems it got a lot easier.

A killer gets 3 categories in one chase. For example, brutality hitting or destroying things. Using his power he gets Devioutness and Hunter for going after a survivor.

Event after the end, he gets the 4th categorie, sacrifice.

I think survivor bloodpoints or the bloodpoints in general should get tweaks.

Maybe also raise the cap from 8k to 10k? We have litterly over 100 perks, more bloodpoints in general wouldnt hurt anyone.

Especially new player or players that didnt play the whole time have a hard time.

I think searching chests should give Survival points and being camped on the hook (If the killer is within a certain distance of the hook) should give the person being camped Objective points since they are acting as a distraction while the other survivors (Hopefully) are getting objectives done.

The hardest category to get points in is Survival it's kind of ridiculous. I think they need to reduce the amount you get from escaping (5000) and create more ways to get survival points/increase the amount you get from current survival based actions.

Otherwise the other thing that sucks is altruism is impossible to get any points in if the killer decides to face camp someone to death.

Farming BP as a survivor is often a nightmare lol

  • Once people master her I genuinely don't see how you can play around her power at all. She can zone you so that you go where she wants you to go or you take damage in the loop. Add in the fact that she is 115% with that kind of power worries me. STBFL will make this even nuttier and help lessen the impact of holding W vs her.

I just can't believe she has the potential to deal damage to survivors from across the map through walls. That's a new one. I can't wait to see what people do with Bitter Murmur and BBQ

  • @Laluzi said:

I'd be absolutely enraged if that was the reason. The change completely killed Thrill and them ruining it because they decided to add a killer that could interrupt from anywhere on the map - it's possible that maybe having a killer that could interrupt from anywhere on the map was the poorly thought out idea? Not the only hex protecting perk in the game?

    Ugh.

Agreed. The worst part is that The Artist doesn't even need old Thrill to be able to interrupt survivors potentially on her Hexes. The infinite range on Crows of Torment is actually so nutty she is going to be a Hex defending queen and I'm ready to main her.

  • Check out Naymeti. They are AMAZING at looping and explain everything in a way that really makes sense, to me at least.

I love Ayrun, Probz and others but they'll spin the killer like 10+ times in a row and I can't do that / I feel like spinning a killer is very 50/50.

I like Naymeti because he loops structures together constantly and explains how he's able to greed at certain pallets and get an extra loop out of them and whatnot. I've gotten considerably better since watching his vids tbh

Anyways, my other advice is: don't be afraid to run "strong" perks. There was a time I wouldn't use Dead Hard, Iron Will etc. ... Then I found myself being tunneled out of games VERY early to the point that I wasn't lasting long enough in my matches to warrant the queue time. That and I wasn't getting better at looping by being tunneled/camped out.

DON'T BE AFRAID TO USE "second chance" PERKS. If Decisive Strike will give you another shot then run it! Dead Hard will help you extend chases or let you reach pallets you wouldn't otherwise have. All that being said I try not to run ALL meta perks. I kinda cycle them around and run BP farming stuff in the other slots.

Also Windows of Opportunity is a godsend if you're unfamiliar with the locations of pallets and vault locations. I highly recommend getting that perk and using it on and off as training wheels. Using it has helped me learn where pallets are on pretty much every map and even when you get better it's still a valuable perk. Knowing what pallets have been dropped by others in chases before you can and will help you avoid dead zones.

  • @Crowman said:

Urban Evasion makes you move at normal walking speed (2.26/ms or 56.5%) while crouching. Normal crouching movement is 1.13m/s or 28.25% for reference.

Fixated makes you move at 2.71m/s or 67.8%.

I would say it depends on what you are trying to do.

Fixated has use with Sprint Burst (or any exhaustion perk really) as the faster walking gives you more time to lose exhaustion in a chase.

Urban Evasion has specific killer counters like Hag Traps or Pyramid Head torment zones, but it can give you the edge on smaller wall loops against range killers since you'll lose less distance ducking to avoid their projectile and won't get zoned out as easily.

This is exactly the breakdown I was looking for thank you!

    • What? As far as I know, it doesn't actually prolong the chase at all. As you are blinding me, I'm breaking the pallet. If it does, then it's a tiny gain. It's BM because it's entirely unavoidable, and the 'blind' effect is still known to give people headaches (it certainly does for me). Also, where have I berated anyone? For the record: proxy camping and 'tunneling' (a word that nobody can even really agree on what it means) aren't toxic. Facecamping is pretty toxic, which is why BHVR are adding that new mechanic they mentioned.
    • I don't think I've ever seen a killer give the survivors problems in postgame regarding addons, barring something like 3x BNP, an RPD offering with multiple further hooks offerings. On the other hand, I get it maybe once in every 10 games on killer, no matter if I've brought 2 yellows or two iris.

Also, geez mate. Lighten up. It was a pretty tongue-in-cheek post.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2629563#Comment_2629563

    Thanks, these are good answers.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2629594#Comment_2629594

Ah, the BP gain does make sense. I'm still not sold on it being better than just dropping the pallet and running, but I'm hardly an expert survivor (and at best I'm a solidly intermediate killer). It is bloody annoying though, and if it happens multiple times in a game that's probably my DbD for the day and I'll have to go take a painkiller.

I'll never complain at people for bringing addons/offerings. At worst, I may just AFK the match out (see: multiple further hook addons+Haddonfield/RPD/Badham, or an RPD addon where people are deliberately abusing that bloody office infinite).

I totally understand, I hate it too because you CAN'T avoid the blind and don't we all hate things we have no control over lol

That being said, you do technically make a lot more distance by running from a pallet stun and I recommend that if they can make it to another safe area. If they're in a dead zone though, blinding can buy them much needed time to get somewhere safe.

  • @Kalinikta said:

    The challenge is simple:

    • Pick a killer
    • Play the killer
    • Play nicely, never camp, never tunnel

See how survivors respond... every time I start playing the game I try and the result is always the same; Gens fly, survivors click away, tea bag and without failure gather up in the exit gate and wait till the very last moment to leave... because winning alone isn't enough, they need to tea bag at the exit gate or spam you with sound notifications if you don't show up.

I only really have an issue with face camping the first survivor you down and trying to force them to die on hook.

Sorry but if you do that you're rude and lazy. I play both sides, as Killer I use perks that reward me for hooking different survivors and encourage me to leave the hook and I do just fine managing everything, patrolling gens and spreading out the pressure amongst everyone.

Tunneling and slugging are fine since they are high risk high reward but someone who face camps and runs NOED to secure an easy down in the end game gets no respect from me.

  • @StarLost said:

So, as I'm finally creeping up on the big 300 (hours played, probably 225 or so of those on killer), I frequently see survivors do things that I just...don't understand.

    Maybe you can help me.

    1. When I'm chasing you, you seem to love running up somewhere high then dropping down. Unless you have BL, this usually guarantees me an easy hit. Why not just keep running me?
    2. Why do you insist on running around and around a rock rather than just holding 'W' and heading for a loop? It's not like you are slowing me down.
    3. Why do you always insist on getting into lockers right in front of me? Unless you've got Head On or DS, I don't get it.
    4. What is it with you and trying to flashlight me when I'm chasing someone else? It's not going to work and now I know you are there. Wait until I pick them up and it'll sometimes work.
    5. Also, why do you insist on blinding me after a pallet stun? It's BM as hell, and now you've both lost time and have a killer gunning for you.
    6. Why do you always insist on playing grab-ass with me when I'm going to hook someone? If you'd given me a second and stayed out of sight, I'd have walked away. Now you've given me a free hit when you tried to bodyblock me, and I'll probably catch you almost immediately once I've hooked your chum.
    7. Why is it that you insist on DCing or suiciding the first time I hook you? You'll get no BP, probably a penalty and you've just totally screwed over the other 3 of you.
    8. When I knock you down and chase someone, you always crawl off to Narnia then berate me in postgame for slugging when I can't find you. If you wanted me to pick you up, why not stay in the open?
    9. I get why you teabag me when you get an easy 4 out (and I sincerely hope your cat widdles into your PSU while you sleep) but why do you insist on teabagging and flashing me after you drop the pallet? Maybe 3 times in 4, I'll catch you almost immediately.
    10. Why do you give me a hard time about running addons when you're rocking a souped up toolbox or medkit?

    1. The survivor might be attempting the inside tech where they try to get the killer to drop down right on top of them and evade their FOV. It's hard to explain but it can work it's just not a very good idea unless they vaulted a window off a building and the killer has to vault and follow suit. This tech is next to impossible to do off of a hill. If they went up a hill without Balanced Landing they messed up.

    2. That I don't know, holding W is almost always a better idea unless they're banking on you whiffing and missing which can happen sometimes. The only time this would be a good idea is against a Bubba using his chainsaw to try and get him to hit the rocks but yeah.

    3. If there's absolutely no other options and they know they're about to go down, jumping into a locker is just a last ditch effort we can do. I don't know if it actually buys more time or not it's probably about even but yeah. Against certain killers it can be a good idea (Eg. Nurse, Bubba etc.). OTHERWISE they might have actually accidentally got into the locker. Accidents do happen sometimes, I've accidentally jumped into a locker before while in chase.

    4. To try and get aggro off the person you're chasing. Also if they actually do happen to blind you that can give the person you're chasing an easy getaway. These really only work against less seasoned killers though.

    5. This is actually one of the best times to blind the killer. You're stunned and can't avoid the blind by looking down. This helps them sneak away (Especially with Iron Will) and gives them a LOT of blood points.

I used to think it was bs too (As killer) but honestly flashlights can be a very strong tool when used like this in chase. Blinding the killer at pallet stuns, when they're breaking walls or vaulting windows can give you the perfect window of opportunity to slip out of chase and lose them and that is huge.

    6. Unless they're running sabo build with breakout and or mettle of man this is almost always a bad idea and I will agree. The only time I take a hit like this is if I desperately want stacks of We're Gonna Live Forever but this really isn't an efficient way of taking protection hits. Definitely a bad survivor habit. If you see people doing this just take advantage of it.

    7. Some people are just dumb.

    8. I actually like doing this but I never berate the killer for slugging afterwards. I just tease them that they couldn't find me and I bled out lol

If someone is crawling away to a corner of the map to bleed out and then berating you for slugging them they're literally a troll. Don't listen to them

    9. This could be to maintain aggro but it's usually people being immature. Honestly both? Some people REALLY want to be chased non-stop all match and do everything to keep the killer on them or piss them off. Personally I never teabag the killer though because that's rude.

    10. Honestly I only complain about add-ons when it's busted combinations with black ward and it's just me complaining about how unfair it is *cough* mother daughter ring + cherry blossom *cough*

I won't deny that survivors can bring powerful items with add-ons as well. Sometimes I do but for the most part I bring pretty standard stuff with basic add-ons and I don't usually complain about add-ons but what I will say is that this can go both ways. Both sides will always complain about the other bringing "opaf" items/add-ons and offerings etc. etc.

Also no one will ever not complain about iri head so, there's that.

I hope this was helpful. I play both sides but mostly survivor because I really like being chased and killer is a lot of pressure at times.

  • Controversial opinion: both perks are fine.

    Keep calm and carry on

  • She looks to be broken but we need to give it about a month I'd say. But yeah, idk base kit looks nutty and she has some absolutely disgusting add-ons. I'd say her only downfall is lack of mobility but she doesn't need that thanks to her power. What really intrigues me most about her is her ability to scout gens with her crows which just have infinite range when shot through walls. As someone who likes information/tracking and scouting I'm in LOVE with that aspect of her power.

Aside from all that her ability to shut down a loop and force survivors to either stay in the loop and take damage or leave the loop completely and take an M1 is what appears to be problematic. The fact that she is 115% and has this power is disgusting. She will be inescapable with a few/max stacks of STBFL and anyone with half a mind what they're doing when setting up crows at loops.

I'm very serious, from what I've seen she looks S tier and I'm honestly happy but a bit scared lol

I really dislike this mentality, as it underpins the biggest balancing issues in the game.

Any time the killer doesn't like anything, he just takes the entire game hostage by facecamping.

'I want boons nerfed, so I'll facecamp until they're nerfed'

'I want Dead Hard nerfed, so I'll facecamp until it is.'

'I want gen speeds nerfed, so I'll facecamp until they are'

'I want Red Herring nerfed, so I'll facecamp until it is.'

Facecamping is the lodestone of the game's balancing issues and it really needs to be dealt with.

I couldn't have put it better myself.

But for real. Face camping + NOED guarantees a killer 2 easy kills almost every match as long as they're somewhat competent. All I want is for a killer who face camps (Early in the match) to be severely punished and the person who gets face camped from first hook to death to get distraction points (In Objectives category) or SOMETHING to compensate for being literally held hostage all match.

I have grown to not mind slugging and tunneling because there is counter play to them and you can still play the game through them but if you're being face camped there is no counter and you don't get to play the game. How is that okay? Or enjoyable to new players?

I don't face camp at 4-5 gens and I do just fine. Honestly if you need to face camp + NOED to guarantee kills that's kind of sad. If you don't want to put in the effort of playing killer then why play it at all?

  • As long as I get my 4 stacks of BBQ I really, truly could care less if all 4 survivors escape or not. I personally aim for hooking everyone 2-3 times because I am a BP fiend but that's just me and I do just fine with that play style typically getting 1-2 kills or more.

  • Kinship/Camaraderie and Kindred are the only perks that actually help somewhat counter camping.

Things like BT and DS etc. help with the tunneling that comes after being unhooked.

  • @throwaway79465468797 said:

It's not impossible for 4 survivors to finish 5 totems though

It is when a killer face camps 1 survivor and the other 3 have to rush gens and ignore literally everything else.

NOED + Face camp needs to be nerfed somehow. Personally I want the camping to be knocked somehow as I think NOED is fine in a standard match.

  • I definitely want more Scourge Hook and Boons for both sides.

Aside from those, I'm always hungry for:

Killer perks that grant the ability to mori

Killer perks that reveal survivor auras

Survivor perks that hide auras (To be fair Shadow Step has satiated this for me for now)

And my biggest wish is a perk that somehow counters camping more unless they buff Kinship/Camaraderie.

  • I feel bad for console players who attempt to make use of it and end up missing it because of lag / freezing.

I wouldn't be opposed to it being a simple press E active ability prompt for a short window when being picked up. This is more a quality of life change really. To those of you who relish in tunneling newer players who miss their DS: you're heartless.

I mean honestly, Dead Hard has an easier prompt than DS and that is a second chance you get multiple times a match so what gives?

  • When you down and hook someone, someone else has to come save them.

With information perks you can tell where to go straight from the hook (Discordance, Tinkerer, or Thrilling all work wonders). If you go and pressure the 1 or 2 survivors elsewhere you now have most of the team preoccupied. There might usually be one person in the background able to do gens.

A lot of you make it sound like it's impossible to do well as Killer by going for multiple people and pressuring gens but I do just that every match and I do just fine. I don't need to face camp to guarantee one kill or use NOED to secure two.

I'm convinced some of you just enjoy ruining the game for others or legitimately don't want to put forth the effort of chasing survivors and honestly why should you since face camp + NOED almost always secures you a 2k / net MMR gain?

  • @Killer_NPC said:

Facecamping killers take huge punishment if you genrush them , they get 1k and 3 people escape through door so that is -20 MMR, they get Entity Disspleased endscreen so that is -1 pip , and they get under 10k bloodpoints. Wont feel good when it happens to you but they will understand why facecamping is bad idea. BUT SURVIVORS BE LIKE "oH nO wE CaN'T LeT tHe KiLleR geT 1K lEt's gO FoR SaVE anD MakE thIS 1K inTo A 3K , tHaT wiLL TeAcH hiM !!! "

That's a best case scenario but in solo queue the other three don't tend to be that efficient and the killer almost always secures a 2k or more with NOED.

    @R2k said:

Where do u find those face campers? I've played like 12 games so far, not a single killer face camped. Share some of them, it's a free win every time.

I don't know but would you like to have them? I haven't had a normal match in over a week or two.. I've honestly lost track because I play less and less. The only thing motivating me to try at all is I really want the Plague cosmetic from the rift but I just feel like giving up bcuz idk if it's possible to get it by only doing killer side challenges.

  • I should also note that this happens at 5 gens. I don't really have an issue with camping later in the match but being face camped at 5 and then watching teammates die to NOED is dumb. I just have no will to play survivor anymore against this playstyle and it's becoming more and more common.

    @Mileena_Kahn said:

You’re not alone. I made a couple posts already in the past couple of days on how killers have just been facecamping and tunneling to the extreme lately in solo que. At this point it’s boring. Luckily for me I got back into contact with my old SWF team and I’ve been having a blast playing with them. I can actually have teammates to rely on and I know gens will get done when needed to keep the facecamping and tunneling minimal.

I've thought about this. I guess I'll have to either only play with my friends in a group or just not play at all since solo queue can't even be fun anymore.

Title, what perks are you guys hoping get buffed? I want Brutal Strength, Distortion, Poised, and maaaybe Play With Your Food to be buffed. Maybe.

I've had this idea for a while now that Poised should work like Deception and Dance With Me where it offers a short window of no scratch marks after repairing a gen for at least 3 seconds. Upon letting go of said gen you'd have 6/8/10 seconds of no scratch marks and it would have a cool-down of 20 seconds or something idk

My wish buff though would be for Guardian (Babysitter) to be buffed to 8/10/12 seconds to match Borrowed Time's duration. There are so many other perks though that I want to see buffed on both sides.

  • Everyone seems to disregard the time it takes survivors to find and bless totems to put a Boon into effect. The Boon has limited range and can be snuffed out. If a killer snuffs it out that survivor will need to spend time blessing it again.

Boons encourage survivors to do something other than gens.. I know that Boons having impactful effects may be controversial but they couldn't be weak or do next to nothing lol

Also I don't get why people try to compare them to Hexes since they have some pretty hefty differences. As I said, Boons affect a limited area whereas Hexes affect the entire trial with unlimited range. If Boons had unlimited range I'd be a lot more concerned but as it stands I can't really be too upset.

CoH should have its healing % nerfed though, that is a bit problematic.

  • As a Hag main I have to agree that setting traps around the hook is unfair. Pyramid Head can't place trails immediately around the hook so why can Hag? It promotes scummy play styles and that's why a lot of people hate Hag is because she's got a reputation for camping.

All that being said she is FAR from being a no skill killer. Hag requires a lot of thinking and setup to do well with her. She's a 4D Chess killer lol

  • You don't need BBQ to tell you where to go. Most survivors are aware of BBQ and will preemptively get into lockers to avoid its aura reading.

If you want an alternative that will tell you where you SHOULD go to find an important gen / survivors use Thrilling Tremors or Tinkerer. Discordance is great too.

Aura reading isn't everything. As for Shadow Step hiding scratch marks, you have blood to help track and crows as well. I use Bloodhound almost every match lately and can track people through Shadow Step zones. They literally cannot hide from you as long as you can follow neon puddles of blood on the ground which isn't difficult.

Adapt and utilize counter play you'll find that it isn't so bad.

  • Waiting for endwalker tbh

Being face camped every match I play makes me feel like people don't want me playing dead by daylight so I've been playing it less and less

  • I made a thread about using Bloodhound to counter Shadow Step (And to a certain degree, CoH as well).

It looks like it got buried but I'll just mention it here and anywhere else I see people upset over Shadow Step. With Bloodhound, an injured survivor literally cannot hide from you unless they happen to have Lucky Break that is but that's not very common. You can pair this with Sloppy Butcher if you want to make them bleed even more frequently as well as reduce the healing from CoH by, -25% I personally don't use Sloppy with it though.

Alternatively you can use perks and add-ons that insta down / apply Exposed or Broken so that they can't heal. Killers complaining about survivors taking protection hits and then healing nigh instantly.. Use Forced Penance?

I've been experimenting lately with things to directly counter CoH and SS and I always get value from doing so since people bring both boons every single match.

Once you figure out how to play around the boons they become less powerful to survivors since it takes them time to bless and set them up. If I can track someone who thinks they are safe with Shadow Step and catch them, hook them then go snuff their totem they lose SO much there. Once they get unhooked they have to go relight it, that's time that they aren't on a gen, it makes them predictable and they are easy prey.

If boons ever become something that can only be used once per trial nobody will use them and they will become useless perks guaranteed but I guess that's what killers want out of this.

  • I've said it before and I will not stop preaching this until something is done about it but: it is bs when a killer can face camp the first person they down and guarantee they die and then go on to insta down someone else after all the gens are completed with NOED.

Honestly if they use Bloodwarden there's a good chance they could secure even more kills but just face camp + NOED is usually enough to get 2 kills guaranteed which is enough for many killers as they are gaining MMR.

That is complete bs and something needs to be done about it. Something needs to be done about a survivor who gets face camped because it's a miserable experience. This is coming from someone who plays both sides.

I understand camping in the middle or at the end of a match but using the face camp + NOED strategy is bs since survivors can't do all the gens and cleanse all the totems before the first person dies on the hook. That isn't fair and you know it.

I've been considering pairing Bloodhound with an addon or maybe a second perk that inflicts Haemorrhage to counter Shadow Step, but honestly I don't have that much trouble following them anyway unless they're on an indoor map.

Still- I have no doubt that it genuinely does help, I may check it out anyway.

It's not a bad idea to pair with Sloppy Butcher or an add-on that inflicts this effect (I love using Blind Warrior - White on Wraith for example, it's just Sloppy but added to his surprise attacks).

Sloppy will still slow down the healing bonus from CoH. I know it isn't much but it's something. In the event that they aren't running CoH for some reason it is good slowdown.

Definitely give it a try though. Otherwise like I said I think Spies is the only way to be tipped off on their position when they're under the effect of Shadow Step.

  • She's always been A tier, now more than ever. When she has Corrupt Purge active she shoots up to S tier.

Plague is very underrated. I think the reason people always want to put her lower is because she's a snowball killer with no mobility. The fact that she happens to directly counter the heavy healing meta right now is nice but niche and I don't think it's fair to count that towards her overall ranking.

  • I mean, in the past when we've had totems that couldn't be cleansed (Old farm maps) nothing ever got disabled.

I'll never forget the times Ruin would spawn on the tractor totem and couldn't be cleansed.

  • Why not try a Hex heavy build to punish Boons?

    Hex: Haunted Grounds (Obvious punish)

Hex: Undying or Thrill of the Hunt (Defense for our Hexes)

Hex: Retribution (Seriously slept on and amazing with Haunted. Additional punishment for cleansing totems)

Hex: Ruin or Devour Hope (To create urgency on survivors to cleanse)

Blessing a Hex totem takes an excruciatingly long time so it's slowdown and even more time wasted. I know that it might still seem unattractive but idk. I feel like going all out Hexes somewhat counters Boons since Haunted and Retribution will actively punish any survivor who blesses your totems.

Idk how I feel about Thrill though.

Otherwise if I didn't run this wacky idea I'd probably just opt for Pop + Corrupt or Ruin + Pop. Deadlock is really good though too. Maybe Pop, Deadlock, Corrupt and Thrilling Tremors so you know where to direct your Pops.. That could be too much entity blocking though lol

I really want to love Jolt but the value gained from it is just too random / dependent on the map and generator placement

  • Typically I don't have a problem with NOED. Lately however, I see it paired a lot with the strategy of face camping the first survivor you down until they, well die. Then you go and try to catch someone else.

If the survivors rushed out gens like they were supposed to then they will not have had the time to find and cleanse all dull totems much less keep track of where they all are. After the final gen gets completed the killer can use NOED to insta down whoever they find after the first person who was camped dies. Then they just camp again with NOED.

Used in this fashion I think it's unfair. It's allowing killers to always gain MMR from 2 kills, sometimes more if survivors aren't efficient or make mistakes. Survivors have to gen rush and not do totems to make the most of the camped persons time and NOED punishes them for gen rushing/not doing the totems I don't see how that's fair.

Otherwise though like I said I have no real problem with NOED tbqh

  • Are all survivor perks supposed to be niche and or not powerful?

Both sides deserve some strong perks. That being said I'm appalled at the fact that CoH hit live the way it did. The existence of a PTB should have prevented this from happening but uh.. Yeah.

As a whole though I'm happy with Boon Totems, they're a really cool new mechanic. Same for Scourge Hooks. They're trying to implement new mechanics and keep things fresh which I appreciate although.. I would much rather something be done about face camping, map sizes/broken tile layouts, blatant hackers and cheating and some form of early game stall for all killers.

You aren't going to prevent 'tunneling' though without completely breaking the game. The goal of the killer initially is to turn a 4man into a 3man, as this is the only way to get generator speeds to the point where you can actually get there in time and have a chase before it pops. As it stands, if you reach 2-3 gens without a kill, you're going to get stomped.

And...killers don't have all that much control over this. On some maps (RPD), it's entirely possible for survivors to finish 2 gens before the killer can realistically reach them, even if he starts heading there at the start of the game.

Survivor queues are getting longer and longer, and my killer queues are pretty close to instant.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2593160#Comment_2593160

Ruin+Undying is a gamble, as on certain maps it can spawn literally next to the first gen survivors go to, right out in the open. I use Ruin on Pinhead and Pop on most other killers now.

Yeah, RPD is horrible. I've started just yanking my cable whenever someone brings an offering for it. The map is spectacularly busted - it's annoying for inexperienced survivors, and way too strong once they understand the layout, the infinite in the office, the 3 or so 'free' gens that are nearly impossible to pressure and the various drops and vaults that are on par with the notorious Badham fence.

Haddonfield is very killer dependent. If you have a killer that can traverse vertically, it's manageable. On an M1 killer, survivors can see you coming so clearly and have so many escapes from nearly every gen position that you have to rely on them making mistakes.

I'd be happy with a BP increase for camped survivors, but as it stands smart groups already love to play grab-ass or sit and heal around the hook (especially now with boons) as even chasing them around it gives the killer a pretty nasty BP penalty. Any mechanism to stop face-camping has to be done very carefully, or survivors will exploit it to create a safe-zone where killers can't threaten them.

Yeah, I only use Ruin Undying on my Plague and it's 100% a gamble. If it gets cleansed in the first minute or two I'm screwed but if i can get more than 2+ minutes of value from it I can usually get a snowball rolling. And if it happens to stay up all match it's just crippling to the survivors.

Aside from that on Plague I stick to the Pop Corrupt combo because it's reliable lol

So, I started DbD just over a year ago - shortly before the Blight patch, if I recall. Loved the concept, got into it in a big way.

Watched videos, read guides and started doing decently. Sunk almost 100 hours in before I knew it.

Then BHVR removed killer matchmaking and after a week of being hammered flat and gloated at by SWF groups with thousands of more hours than me in the game, I quit.

Came back just after MMR was introduced and fell in love again. Most of my matches felt even, whether I got a 1k or a 4k. I didn't have to go balls-to-the-wall every game, because I'd find an MMR spot where my style and proclivities (I tend to be an overly nice killer) would work, and I'd still kill 2, occasionally 3.

    Then...this patch.

    Woof.

    • Buggy boon totems that you can't cleanse.
    • DC penalty removed, so every match I'm not getting rolled, I'm having at least 1 person DC the second I down them.
    • Either matchmaking was disabled, or broken entirely. There is no reason that I, as a sub-200 hour player should be going up against 3man SWF groups with thousands of hours between them 5 or 6 times in a row, who inevitably stomp me flat and teabag me all the way to the gates. I don't think I've suffered as many 3 and 4 outs in a row as I have over the last two days. You'd think that MMR would help but...nope. Just a miserable experience.
    • From above, prepatch I could goof off a little, bring some odd perks and addons, maybe try to learn a new killer or two. I now have to pick meta perks and play ultra sweaty - camping, slugging, the whole shebang, just to get 1 or 2 kills. Something really isn't right here.
    • Far too many games where 2 gens are done before a minute has passed, and I've had several where 3 or 4 get done before I even have my first chase.
    • RPD makes Haddonfield feel like...well, still bad, but way better than RPD. And more than half my games today were in this sodding hellhole.
    • Not a game goes by now where I don't wonder if someone is hacking. Seriously, I'm seeing so many SWF groups with legacy skins at my (certainly) terrible MMR that I'm wondering if they are hacking their MMR too.
    • Wraith and Slinger gutted, despite being mid-tier at best. Wraith feels almost as bad as he did pre-rework.
    • Endless other petty gripes that are easy to ignore when you are having fun, but sort of gang up on you when you are already frustrated.

All in all, this game has gone from being a fun adrenaline rush to a frustrating experience that makes me want to eat a kitten sundae.

Probably going to take a week or so off (my guess is that BHVR will extend the Halloween event, with the state of the game right now I can't imagine them not doing so) and see how things lie when I return.

At least the new PoE season just started, which will likely be better for my blood-pressure at least.

I'm there with you though, somewhat on the flipside. Almost every other match I play as Survivor I get camped on my first hook until I die and watch my teammates die to NOED / lucky if 1-2 escape after having to gen rush due to face camping.

I just want to get better at looping naturally in solo queue without my rank 1 friends "boosting" me and it's just been absolute hell because so many killers are utilizing the face camp + NOED strategy to secure 2 kills for net MMR gain and it makes me so sad to see that.

SO I've been playing Killer more lately, especially since my OG main Plague got some much needed love this update and I have been enjoying it so so much. That being said I can only play Killer so much until I feel alone and decide to go play something else so.. Yeah lol

But yeah my joy lately is from playing killer since I can actually play a full match and do things. It's also fun when survivors goof around, I like events like this when we all bring cake and party streamer offerings and farm with each other since I'm eternally on a BP grind.

But yeahhh.. Literally the only reason I'm forcing myself to play a lot lately is for Plague's Maiden of Vanity cosmetic in the Rift, I NEED it. Otherwise I would not be playing much if at all tbqh. I'm holding out for Endwalker on ffxiv next month but DBD is always in the back, it's my guilty pleasure and I can never escape it but I can take hiatuses lol

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/289962/you-need-to-do-something-about-camping-tunneling-bhvr

    Okay. A few things.

    • Any claim that starts with 'my friend told me...' immediately comes over as disingenuous.
    • Yes, some killers facecamp. BHVR have...something in store to help this. However:
    • Tunneling is a valid strategy. Of course the killer wants to win, and it makes tactical sense to get one person (probably the biggest threat if possible) dead ASAP. Do you want a 4-out every game?
    • As things stand, it's entirely possible to lose 2 gens within the first minute of the game, and 4 gens by the time you get a real chase. SWF sweatsquads with PT, toolboxes and now boons make it easy to just whack out gens while being nearly invisible.
    • BHVR can't stop 'tunneling'. What you should be asking for is a tweak to gen speed at the upper end of addons/perks, so that killers aren't forced to tunnel someone. Then we can talk about some sort of mechanic to stop killers from doing it out of spite. Maybe.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2588989#Comment_2588989

Agreed. This game should be about chasing and being chased.

However, survivors also need to abide by this.

There is no reason why I, as a killer, should be seeing gens fly by before I can even get a chase, or survivors negate this by abusing infinite loops on RPD or those obnoxious stealth boons that allow you to basically avoid chases entirely.

The problem isn't tunneling and camping alone. The problem is that, the game as is - especially on RPD/Haddonfield/Badham - is so incredibly difficult for some killers that they are forced into these strategies. Believe me, it's not much more fun for them.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2589178#Comment_2589178

I've been accused of tunneling/camping because:

    • A survivor followed me all the way to the hook, and I chased them and downed them right after.
    • Someone gets unlucky and runs directly to me off hook.
    • A survivor teabags and flashes me, then gets focused down. Why complain about getting my attention when you ask for my attention?
    • A survivor keeps coming back to the same gen that I'm defending.

Survivors really do seem to be going into matches with the expectation of escaping every time, and will DC/get salty in postgame if they don't on a regular basis.

    Agreed.

RPD needs to be split up and minimized BAD. It's way too big and the fact that it has infinites is sad.

And my god, Haddonfield needs a map rework the most out of every single map in the game. Ideally every map would be 50:50 for both sides in design and layout but alas.

I think reducing the size of the larger maps would help immensely over all. As a Killer I literally run either: Corrupt Intervention OR Ruin + Undying + Discordance to stall the early game somewhat until I can get into a chase and get things going.

Again I agree with you, I know it's a way to apply pressure or secure at least 1 kill but I hate that there's so many people who exclusively do just that AT 5 gens and relish in it and sometimes even secure a 2nd kill with NOED and gain MMR from that despite only making 8 - 9k BP and doing next to nothing the entire match. If they made it so that the survivor being face camped wasn't penalized as harshly and maybe got Distraction points for being camped idk just anything to make the experience of being camped until you die on hook a little bit better would be appreciated. I'm not asking for camping to magically be removed somehow just that it be less rewarding for a killer to do in the grand scheme of things and the unfortunate victim to get SOMETHING in return, even if it's small because it makes me just give up on playing survivor and either play some killer or go play another game, usually the latter.

If a killer rly wants me to not play the game I won't 😐

  • Use sprint burst and windows of opportunity. You will never be dead zoned again and always find safety.

  • You have to be careful with this though. If every map was the size of Dead Dog Saloon we'd have some major issues. Certain maps can definitely do with a size reduction but not all need to be super small. Please I beg of you

Spirit was one of the ones I really wanted, and that wish got checked off the list. Now? Plague and Pig are my top contenders - eerie ancient prayer strains and something derived from Saw's soundtrack. Though I'd like to see what they could do for Nurse - twisted early 20th century would be neat.

Thank you for saying literally exactly what I was going to.

I second all of this lol

  • Killers are allowed to bring good add-ons. Survivors should also be allowed to bring good items/add-ons. While I will admit that certain add-ons are extremely problematic (needle and styptic) I can't get behind some people saying that medkits need everything about them gutted.

Tldr: I would be fine with certain add-ons being nerfed but not medkit base stats / gutting them. Healing is already an optional side objective that keeps survivors off of gens for a bit. It sounds like some people just want that to take longer? Use Sloppy Butcher or Mangled effects.
