Using BT you will almost always be on the 3rd hit

    Healthy 1

    Injured 2

    Downed

    Hooked

    BT hit 3

Also. This thread isn't an "OMG EVERYTHING IS BROKEN", if it was I would be stating suggestions and having comparisons to gen times ect. Rather it is: "Ha ha look at how far we can take this gimmick build if we try hard enough"

Unfortunately Killer builds just don't stack to the same effect even when at there strongest.

Though if you must bring practicality's into it then in a real game I would expect you to be able to consistently pull off the BT -> MoM -> DS -> Insta portion and then maybe get the DH off anyway if your pro. The Adrenaline is just me pushing it to it's limit and the 2nd MoM requires the Adrenaline so same deal.

MoM and DS work well together and BT is a meta perk. Most game would have BT -> MoM -> DS happening once or twice and just the BT -> MOM/DS or DS -> MoM happening far more often. The numbers for that is between 17 and 6 seconds of guaranteed stun depending on the specifics.

Completely ignoring the fact it also depends if you use a killers power to hit them so no it won't always proc it's still highly situational.

It's the usual taken out of proportion situation on these forums looking at the worst case scenario as always.

  • You know what else is possible?

Leatherface finding all survivors on one gen, they all for some reason run in the same direction and get downed with the chainsaw, hooked and its game over.

I cant see how the devs didnt see how OP that scenario is, surely they need to do something about it that and nerf his chainsaw.

You see how just because something can happen doesnt mean its actually a problem, yes it is possible but it takes a perfect amount of circumstances for it to line up.

First they tunnelled off the hook while the gens were not done (thats what DS and BT changes were designed to help with), second they have to be on the third hit, third the killer doesnt know how to bait DH (if you are good you wont fall for it) and lastly you have to have all these line up before the last gen pops for adrenaline.

Instaheal not included in teh above as there is no circumstance its not a great crutch.

  • Visit the forum

See the ASH patch notes are up smile and read them, DS time buffed (omg this will be a funny read)

    Go into general disscussion

See the usual names pop up making threads crying about it and how the devs pander to survivors (funily enough the same names who when Enduring made the time so short they laughed saying how they loved the survivor salt)

Continue to sit here while eating my popcorn while seeing more salt falling from tears than ever before.

    Ahhhhhhhh good ol DBD forums

  • It's what happens when you make ranking harder and then use it for matchmaking.

This happened when the emblems got released and they needed to adjust survivor emblems, it's like they didn't learn from that mistake.

    Just seperate rank and matchmaking.

Rank then becomes a monthly goal with a reward of 1k irri shards so the grind doesn't look as bad.

Matchmaking goes off more info like escapes/kills, time played, chase times, BP earned per match.

One way could be to seperate the matchmaking so it's done with maybe with 5 brackets of separation so your are in a 20% player bracket, each bracket you are in can go up or down to the next 20% when looking.

  • PC Ark, FTL, Grim Dawn, Starcraft 2, The Division, Destiny 2, GTA V, Borderlands 2, Wreckfest.

Ps4 Spiderman, Horizon Zero Dawn, Hitman, The Last Of Us.

  • Depending on what was said they can esculate the ban stages so you may be on your last warning.

Some toxic things people say can get an instant perma ban.

Going by what you said and the wording of "insults" being plural it may not just be one report so they all added up.

Never react as you are then no better than the aggressor.

  • @not_Queef said:

Adrenaline + MoM will be super fun to play against.

Hit them, chase them down, hit them again, MoM activates, chase them down again, Adrenline activates, hit them again, chase them down again, watch them run out of the exit gate.

    Fun.

That takes a perfect set of circumstances to work.

I can't see that being an issue especially since it doesn't gain tokens when using powers or m2 hits so you can blink hit them with Nurse or use hatchets as Huntress and no Mom.

  • Let them report you and everyone else they come accross and hopefully they will get warned or banned for false reports if that is happening now.

Best bet is to just ignore it and leave at the end instantly or close the chat after the first match using the arrows at the side.

  • I have came accross 1 or 2 obvious cheaters since starting playing the game.

It sounds like the survivor did a 360 tbh as you said they were really close to you.

The other thing is what killer you are playing as some are slower than others, lag also comes into play as it p2p you are hosting the match so make sure you check the pings at the start of the game and be weary of playing on Wi-Fi, also once you interact with them the ping can spike as more data is being processed.

  • Seeing the survivor in the lobby is there for the killer to setup and counteract certain items, that was by design as it's a 1v4 game.

The only issues I have are seeing survivor profiles and names as it promotes dodging and toxicity, there is no logical reason for anyone to need to see a profile before the match starts.

Imo the lobby should show survivors with items only.

  • @Chaotic_Riddle

As above, many have been banned when a wave hits you would see posts appearing asking why they were banned, the I saw it more on the steam forums as here the mods probably know it's going to happen so are about even more to close them down instantly.

Personally I would prefer the percentage to be lower or actually a time out system but that's down to the devs.

Hopefully when dedicated servers come along they can implement a better way to handle it, hopefully.....

  • You dont report for dcing as it takes up times and means other reports take longer to get through.

Dcing is done via their built in system so it tracks each match of who they are, who the killer was and when they DC, its an automatic ban when they hit a set percentage,

  • I will do a gen close by in clear sight and hope the killer comes for me giving a chance for someone to nip in and get them.

I won't risk wasting time in that scenario no matter how unfair it is on that survivor as all i will be doing is teaching that killer camping is rewardable.

That's the issue with camping as survivors complain about it all the time but we have the power to make it a non viable strat but if we do decide to reward it why should they ever stop camping?

  • @Zillence said:

Yea I keep having killers working with survivors to kill me and farming. But I've collected videos and their support website just refuses to accept any clips. I've tried for months

Have you tried uploading to YouTube or another site and posting the link in the report?

    That's what I always do ;)

  • It depends on the report.

    For example

Toxic end game chat a report at the end of the match is only needed.

A lagswitcher needs reported at the end of the match and without a doubt video evidence via the website linking it to your first report.

  • Don't you mean dynamic IP 😉

  • I never said it all goes to the team, again making assumptions, not all of the revenue may be put back in but it can be until it makes a profit, that is what is called an investment in a product before it makes a profit, any company which designs anything has to put the money in before they get to take it out.

Good luck in school, You will need it.

  • @CaptainCastle said:

Did you just seriously declare game sales as revenue? And act like 1m revenue means anything to a developer in the face of no one playing? Do you know how long 1m lasts when running a company? It really sounds like you don't lol I'm not citing inside information, you're talking like you're the corporation whisperer yet sound exactly like the legions of forum users who don't know as much as they think they do. Hitting all the standard tropes.

also pointing to legions release when we're discussing plague in rebuttal. Holy cow dude. I'm unable to can.

What are game sales if not revenue? Did you honestly just state that?

Yes they made 1m in revenue from the deathgarden team but they also obviously had a budget to keep the team going, we don't know how many employees are part of said team so the 1m from sales alone could tide that TEAM over for a good while.

Did you not know that divisions of teams make up the company? Honedtly you state 1m for a company is samll well thanks captain obvious, 1m is a puny amount for a large company but its only for one division of it not the whole, (can't believe I had to write that) You completely ignore that bhvr as a whole was estimated to have around 21m in revenue overall, it's ok though you can cherry pick what points you want to try and better your argument.

I have cited articles and also the figures of the estinated revenue which is available to anyone, what have you brought to the discussion to counter my points? That's right nothing but assumptions.

I simply stated I looked into the company as a whole financials before the release of legion, I was not bringing them into the conversation it was used as a time frame nothing more.

Maybe reading isn't your strong point.

  • @CaptainCastle said:

You have no idea what type of downsizing has been done or how much work is actually being done on death garden, and clearly haven't worked for many corporations. This game lives and dies on twitch performance, of course investing in fog whisperers is going to be a priority.

Also just saying, well thought out list with explanations for deductions vs "clearly its tin foil hat time" isn't a good look. Just keep doubling down on feels though.

Tell me oh great sage what inside information you have?

If you actually read the deathgarden news you can see what work has been done and what they are planning to do so your point on that is mute, there is info out there choosing not to a knowledge that is on you.

Deathgarden has sold min 50k copies according to steamdb that is around 1million in revenue.

You make assumptions by saying I haven't worked for many corporations which is false yet base your whole argument on assumptions yourself, I have actually looked into the financials in the past before legion was released fyi a small link below stating they are growing along with investment from a Chinese firm.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/research/stocks/private/snapshot.asp?privcapId=7827439

If you care too look around yourself they also have an estomated revenue of around 21m last year so with 300 employees generate over 70k per head.

Now come back after you have researched them a bit more instead of assuming you know things.

Tin foil hatedoes have meaning with the OP as nothing they have stated cannot be answered with a small degree of common sense or some research, I suggest you also do that research.

  • @CaptainCastle said:

@twistedmonkey In fairness they need those fog whisperers promising that good things they can't talk about are coming so we don't quit. It sounds exactly like something they'd do.

You're just arguing from feelings and hand waving actual information. "I don't think a company would do x" is far from compelling, especially considering you're strictly basing it on your hunches and not an examination of the data. Also, you're misrepresenting what he's saying about the plague release and population numbers. There was no bump as you describe, we aren't seeing a between dlc lull.

    @CaptainCastle

They could also gift them things or pay them from afar they don't need to fly them out there.

I am not arguing from feelings, I am arguing from a perspective of how a successful company runs, companies struggling for capital generally start to close things down and lay off staff, they shut down projects which are not viable or losing them money when they dont think they will bring in revenue.

The OP is the who is basing their view on personal feelings and assumptions and as I said tin foil hat time as anyone with a slight knowledge of how companies work can see nothing BHVR is doing right now says they are struggling for money.

well now. I'm about to show you a few things you might not be noticing.

firstly: Ash is being released less then 2 weeks from Plague. (13 days to be exact)

Second: This is the first time a dlc release date has EVER been announced. (we usualy have to guess which tuesday they want to release stuff on)

Third:The have lost 30% of players over 2 months. This is the entirety of the last years growth.

fourth: They recently lost a lawsuit against Bethesda for stealing code from fallout shelter to use in a game for Time Warner. read: I believe it was settled not lost, but still. they owe.

Fifth: Deathgarden, the sci-fi DBD ripoff they made, died badly.

These 5 points show that the company is experiencing financial strain. You are right, they would have been working on Ash for a while. So why now? Less then 2 weeks after we just got a new DLC?

To distract from the issues at hand, and bring in a fresh infusion of money.

Anyone who follows dbd knows read things but they mean nothing unless you know the actual finances of BHVR.

First the two week period after the plague means absolutely nothing, it was setup to beannounced at pax, you forget how long it can take to get a license along with designing and making perks then the back and forth of making sure the licensee agrees with your work, it's not a two week process that's for sure.

Second it is not the first time, are you new here or to the game? Each dlc has had a trailer before hand and a ptb but that was only after BHVR bought the rights from Starbreeze, the previous ones before they bought the rights release dates were announced on streams sometimes it was right after the stream finished, this is a surprise character and not a full chapter much like leatherface was when it came out, the current chapters after a ptb dont have an exact date as they take time to make some changes after the test phase, it's not rocket science.

Third the playerbase always and I mean always drops after a dlc comes out up until the next one releases, the only worrying and relevant factor was the small increase of players after the release of the Plague chapter, the time before that means jack.

Fourth the lawsuit is done, yes they lost but that does not mean they are in actual financial difficulty, do you know the whole of BHVR financials? also warner may held accountable for some, unless you know every finite details about the actual payment or lawsuit you have no clue about how it impacted the company as a whole.

Fifth deathgarden is still being worked on, some of the team moved from dbd to it Ash being one of them, yes it's a monumental failure right now but it still sold a good number of copies for a small team, they are actively still working on it, that tells you they still have the capital and budget to do so or it would be benched, what company continues something if they don't have the money to do so, let that sink in.

This is what I mean about your tin foil hat, you have no idea how successful BHVR are or have a clue about there finances but here you are spouting about how some random articles you have read give you a complete insight into it all.

Do you really think a company struggling for capital after would have flown some fog whisperers from around the world to their headquarters for a few days?

  • They would have been working on ash for a while to get the license, design perks and make sure the holders agree with it all.

Sometimes you need to remove that tinfoil hat.

  • Thanks for the links

Nice to see Bruce Campbell in the video, he always makes me laugh, can't wait for the dlc to drop, new survivor to main incoming.

  • I did kung fu called Chiang shou fa from Tibet for a number of years and one of the forms was called the twistedmonkey form.

She cant run away from the basement with is holding her hostage, there is no way out because she is getting blocked. Having a trap on her dosent change the fact she is still stuck and cant attempt to escape.

    @Jonathanskilz

They are not holding the game hostage as the player can die, that's the line between reportable or not.

Yes they are trapped but the timer will run out thus ending that scenario so it as not holding the game hostage it's holding one person in a situation until they die.

The definition of holding the game hostage for reports would be if no trap was on their head and they do not hit anyone, standing there for 10,20,60 minutes etc keepong them trapped in a scenario with no option for the players but to leave the game manually.

While it's a scummy playstyle it works for the achievement but it also wastes 2 minutes of time where the others can do gens and get out.

Running NOED also means if three are down there they can block as long as one person is still alive to get do gens and get the Insta down activated, again not a great tactic and one reason I run bond, do totems and don't rush the basement.

  • @NeaJovovich said:

Sorry 2 break it 2 u but that's impossible. Eash jen is 80 seggunds. so even if u had 5 surbivers on 1 gen it wont work on all ok

It can be done, one in chase and three on gens if they spawn in apart, close to a gen so that's a possible 1m30s each for three gens done.

Another close by to two of those survivors and it's SB over to it so a possible 1m30s again and that's without perks or toolboxes.

Added 10s for travelling in the above of course.

It takes a good setup of gen placement and the killer not being around you all game nothing more.

  • Body blocking is only bannable when you can't get out of the situation unless you leave the game or dc.

If you can hit them or die then it's ok to block.

    Examples.

Survivors body blocking to help someone being carried

Killer body blocking the basement when they have hooked someone

  • I am also glad they did it there is a but though, with the ranking also so broken it means some in the red ranks will find it takes a lot longer to get games.

I think they need to also revert that till its overall working better.

    Just my opinion of course.

  • The problem with showing swf is some would setup to try and combat them and some would simply dodge the lobby.

They really can't implement a system where a side can cherry pick the games they play in as it means longer queues for player who paid the same amount for the game.

This is the reason survivors had the option to see the killers profile removed, they abused it and dodged those who had certain achievements for say the nurse.

Swf is here to stay so it's on the devs to balance swf in the game but not by making it harder for them to find matches as that is bad for business.

  • @George_Soros

Yeah the bloodpoints would need reworked so certain actions give more or less points, quickly killing with multiple hooks could reward you even more, I just remember the only issue seemed to be what side could gain more easier, I agree it could make it harder or worse now overall to get it right so in reality it wouldn't work.

  • Rank was always just something for players to a goal to achieve per month for a lot of people so I think it should be kept.

What they could look at is leaving rank as a montly goal and seperating the matchmaking from it so deranking does nothing to who you get paired with.

  • @VoodooTheKiller said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/384848#Comment_384848

If you are really knocking out people that fast, you must be going against people that don't know what they are doing. Let them learn if you are seriously destroying them that bad, what do you have to lose? If you are that intense of a killer, why not get more BP and score, by giving them more chances, in turn, making them better survivors, that way you can actually have a challenge in the future.

That then becomes a farming match and some players do not find that fun or challenging.

The problem is someone with more skill shouldn't be matched with those players in the first place.

A game should be fun or why play it? If a killer gets everyone downed easy they should be ranking up faster to get away from those players not be forced to prolong a game so they can get away from that zone.

At rank 1, if they down them so easily and 4k they have proved they belong there, if they camp they shouldnt get a 4k if the survivor do there job so who is at fault in that scenario? You can't punish someone when the other side feeds it, if the survivor doesn't feed it then they should be rewarded for doing gens and getting out.

The whole system should not match people using the ranks that is what screws it up as making it harder doesn't solve anything as the problem was never the red ranks it was those who deranked who should be in the red, now that is made that much easier to stay and troll others on both sides making it even less fun for them.

The devs are tying to force a play style which doesnt work, imo they should just scrap the emblem system and put it back to bloodpoints now with higher amounts needed to pip and each side different amounts, at least that way people can play how they wish creating more diverse gameplay among the players.

For those that do not care about ranking up they are happy having easy 4ks killing everyone quickly, staying in the lower bracket to bully killers etc.

  • I dont think an offering is a good idea as its another way that causes imbalances between SWF and solo, with solo you never know what someone is going to put as an offering and with SWF they can take turns using it.

This also means with solo players they may use one as an incase all the time they can and in some cases it would be wasted.

The solution to the hatch standoff is to simply allow the gates to be powered and the hatch takes the same time to open as a gates, this gives more options and if the killer knows where they are at the end they should win, if the survivor evades the killer (must be in an actual chase) for longer than 60 seconds the gates and hatch open (killer can no longer grab from it), if no door is opened within 240's with no chases as the survivor is hiding then the game ends and the killer gets the sacrifice points and also they get the points for all 1,2,3 hooks left on that survivor, if the doors are opened and the survivor does not leave within 30 seconds the same happens, killergets those points.

The purpose is to give each side a chance while also ending the game quicker.

  • The problem is (looking at survivor for now) not everyone can pip in the match even if you all do well and escape, it is not based on anything you do it's what you maybe CAN do and that is also down to the others.

There is no guarantee you will get a save before someone else it's about the right place and the right time, there is no guarantee you will be able to heal someone up, should we all swarm the hook now and fight over it?

The problem is the system does not encourage diversity, it makes the game feel like its on rails and you are being led down a path, it has nothing to do with being entitled thats a false argument made by pubescent teens, if you do well you want to feel rewarded.

Rank and matchmaking being one entity has been the problem not ranking up itself, those two need seperated.

The system only solves one problem, deranking as now they don't have too, the ones who like to be chased all game and bully the lower ranked killers well guess what, they can now do it without the need to DC.

  • Fix the easiest ones first as it should be straight forward.

Matchmaking and rank system, should be easily done, simply revert them until they can get them working properly.

Dcing just change how it works, they have a threshold already and an auto system so change it to a really low number like 5% and instead of banning people time them out for 1 hour if they hit it.

The game breaking bugs like loading screen etc I am sure they are working on them but when they are game breaking they need to be the top priority.

Communicate with us on what's happening, so far nothing is being said and the silence doesn't help, they have always been quite good at being open and imo should make a post acknowledging the feedback even if they don't agree.

  • I like being outsmarted and having to be aware versing strong players.

I've been flashed, tbagged, camper at the end, gen rushed, tunnelled and have said GG at the end as it's a game.

If any side uses what it has to try and stop me doing my goal it's fair to me and they get a GG.

  • A rank system should be based on how you play and only how you play, it shpuld not be dependant on the other side doing certain actions, killer camps you can't save so goodbye benevolence, survivor suicides good by two hooks, and that's just two scenarios, who in their right mind thought this was a good idea?

This system does not reward skill it rewards screwing around.

Forget playing stealthy or killing fast, doing well inst rewarded and as such the game is a lot more linear now like it's on rails, you must follow a set path of things in order to pip, that is the complete opposite of diverse gameplay.

The fact is some players do not care about ranking and will not change how they play which screws over those they are matched with and can you blame them?

If a killer has the oppertunity and is the better player should they not down and hook all four? Should they really be punished for doing well and killing quickly? Should a survivor not on the hook be punished if a killer choses to camp not allowing a save?

Those are huge problems as you are punished for playing well and someone else can basically set your rank not you.

At least they made it easier to derank or keep rank though so those wishing to bully the newer player don't risk getting banned.

  • Not being constructive and posting bait/troll threads

Calling out BHVR or fog whisperers in a derogatory manner

    Naming and shaming

Being toxic towards others on here

Questioning the mods decisions or talking about bans/warnings.

I have been here since day one and I disagree with lots of people, can be snarky and sometimes a hit too much where it turns into an argument and have yet to even be warned.

  • @DarkGGhost said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/379726#Comment_379726

Ok I with you on this but then again why they need to punish the good killers and survivors ?

    This^

And also the rank doesn't matter argument means those players who play for kills and quickly will end up playing in the green/purple ranks, if they don't care about ranks then they won't care if they lose a pip or black pip.

The issue was never the ranking system itself it was the match making using the ranking system.

  • You can play the nurse efficiently, need I say more.

  • It has been the lowest increase of peak players for a dlc release in a good while.

Maybe the release schedule is burning people out, more new perks to earn and chars to lvl with no change to the grind, maybe the legion is keeping them away (biggest drop of players since they were released), maybe they are waiting for the dust to settle as once bitten twice why, the new rank system puts people off as playing optimally isn't rewarded.

Could be a multitude of reasons in reality but it's not the best sign and I normally jump on these posts as another game is dying but for the first time it is a bit worrying with what's hapoening.

Personally I haven't played much since legion and I love this game and the devs, they just take way too long to fix issues and I would rather they put the dlc releases on hold and worked on fixing the game first and stop trying to do it by adding new perks which makes the game more mundane, core problems still exist and some killers have been waiting a long time for reworks.

  • You forgot to farm with the survivors.

How dare you kill them quickly you must let them get lots of points with multiple unhooks while also keeping generators from being done.

  • Solo survivors can be screwed over if one or two don't do totems with this but swf will be able to know what's been done and coordinate what parts of the map have been searched.

Not to mention solo players are not in a team, they will be at more of a disadvantage due to what some random others do.

  • And I assumed everyone who plays an online pvp game knows that everything is subject to change for balance purposes.

Guess that's why you should never assume as someone always proves you wrong.

  • The problem is no matter what you can or are capable of doing the outcome is largely in the hands of the other side with how they decide to play.

Someone kills themselves on the hook good by points for both sides, the killer camps removes points you cannot get.

The problem is you cannot force a playstyle on people and expect everyone to adhere to it.

Some play to do gens and get out

    Some play to kill

Some play to run the killer as long as possible

Some play to chase and hook

There are so many playstyles and making a system that tries to force each person to do everything doesn't work, it's been proven before as the ranking system rewards goofing around and basically farming.

Killing 4 quickly through no fault of your own just being better doesn't reward you, escaping quickly as there was no pressure again doesn't reward you.

What game doesn't reward you for doing better than expected?

For those killers that only care about how many kills they get regardless of hooks this can keep them in the lower ranks, same with those survivors that like to run the killer, both will just be up against the newer players who get out of the new area.

Seems like it's a fix to the complaints about red ranks being too tryhard (hate that word but it fits for now) now those players will be in New player ranks making it less fun for them.

It's just moving the problem, another band aid and not actually fixing it.

  • ^^ this

I have had just as many try and run the killer thinking they are good and fail instantly going down with 5 gens still to go, eventally leaving 3 gens with 2 players.

Immersed players help the good runners, they also do gens, it's called balance.

  • While I disagree with you that rank has been meaningful I agree with what you are saying.

This is why I always said seperate the rank and matchmaking systems.

Leave the rank system alone and make it a monthly acheivement.

Make matchmaking account for more factors so those that derankers to e.g. 12 will still be matched with those in rank 1.

The way it is now makes it even less meaningless and doesn't fix deranking it just makes it easier.

  • Desktop

    I5 3570 overclocked, GTX 1070 24gb ram, 256 ssd

    Laptop I7 7700hq, gtx 1070m 16gb ram, 256 ssd

Both can run it on ultra no problem

  • Imagine a doc finding three gens at the start, never moving from the entire match just constantly shocking and going between them.
