  • You can say Insta heals and keys etc but Insta heals never used to be so highly used until after the healing nerf and keys have seen an increase since the egc.

Way before the above and the Spirit's release it was always said to be just Billy and Nurse.

The reason isn't because one side uses x,y or z it's because people like to use what is considered the best to try and help guarantee the win and especially at red ranks where they may be more competative. This is true for any game.

  • That's because both sides only complain or ask for changes on what they deem causes them to lose or frustrates them.

People happy with things generally don't say anything as they had a good experience. It's just human nature.

Oh damn so it's not fully garentee that we will be able to earn back the cost as things could change damn good to know.thank you for the information 🐷💖

Well that part is confirmed 😛🧘‍♂️

  • Ignore it and move on.

You cant change a mindset but making a post about it gives them what they wanted.

  • @Darkskies said:

Random question but will the free track have more things when say advents are not happening?? Or maybe the will replace the vials with blood points or something.. Sorry just thinking out loud will be interesting to see tho and find out.

Anything is possible as far as cosmetics go. It's just a test and Peanits said itd not confirmed if it will be the same content when it hits live.

Blood points on the free one only could work as everyone can earn them but I doubt it since we have the archive challenges for those.

  • It's better for them to test now and again for short periods on the live game rather than them be implemented with these problems.

While it's inconvenient for some it is for the best in the long run. They need to be released and be stable or you could have the issues you have now for a much longer time.

  • Me too it was fun and different.

I wish they made a new type of one this year but some hated it so back to the old.

Nothing on Jamie or Myers though, it looks more so about just the re-creation of haddonfield, and the hospital.

Where exactly is this being filmed btw? you mentioned downtown Wilmington being where you are, and that its a 20 minute drive from there, but where exactly is it being filmed?

Man, if I was there i'd ask. But sadly I'm not :(

It's being filmed along N. Front St. and at the corner of Walnut St. and Water St.

    Around the areas below 😉.

Please tell me this is a joke or a bug in the PTB.

Myers should be undetectable fully like he used to be in Tier 1.

No one should know that I'm stalking them that is Absurd. That takes away from Myers' Power. He is literally going to be Ghostface if this is true.

Every mask he's had after the first two movies has been a cheap replica... Not sure why they messed that up but that's how it was...

The Rob Zombie version was the best take on a aged and decrepit mask (Until the 2018 version came out, taking over that throne)

But as for masks that were supposed to be the same as the original... they did a poor job with that for a lot of the films. For what reason I don't know, maybe because of licensing issues with the original mask, maybe because the art director couldn't produce anything better and time was scarce... who knows.

Yeah you could see a huge difference and I always wanted them to fix it as it just didn't look like Myers should to me.

I am glad they decided to do the last one and take if from the original story and expand on that.

On a side note they are filming the new movie around 20 mins drive from me in downtown Wilmington. Jamie Lee Curtis is down there and one of my wife's friends were sitting on their porch watching as Myers walked down the street past them😁. They are using the area and local building for hospital scenes apparently.

We are going to try and see some of it tomorrow!

  • She has had a couple of exclusives in the past with events and shows.

I think some of the other non originals need a bit more love. As above Adam feels really left out.

  • The only one I would like is the new movies design as it could go well with an old man Myers skin and it's so close to the original just weathered.

The iconic mask for me has always been the original and most of the others feel kinda cheap and don't have real Myers look about them.

It's like going online and buying a replica from the original compared to buying a cheap one at Walmart.

  • No as it's not needed. Take the best horror movies they never had much gore, blood yes gore no. They were more about the psychological aspect which is what caused the most fear for me.

  • The Entity manipulates its realm to allow for things that otherwise wouldn't make sense 😉.

  • The have reworked the blood web recently and twice before that. We have perks and offerings to gain more bloodpoints. The grind to 40 doesn't really take much anymore apart from being informed before you start grinding.

The new rifts will also give bloodpoints for the challenges which will help newer players.

I think the grind is looking to be in a much better place than it has been for a long long time.

  • It's not that Ruin is need it's just that it artificially can give one a sense of being the better player like most of the top perks do.

I don't rely on any perks in this game. While some I like to use for certain actions like Iron Will for juking or BBQ for points I always try to play without them for a few games as I find I can become too reliant and start to play worse over time.

Strong perks should never become base as they are strong due to them being able to turn the game in your favour through the mechanic rather than how well you can play.

  • Nope never 😝

I always have a sense of excitement and nervousness at the start of a match on either side.

Survivor at least I can have some down time when others are in a chsse. The sound of someone being hit relaxes me for a while. The most tense times are sort of gone as I liked it before all the hud add-ons and not knowing who the killer was until one as them or heard the power. I wish this was still the case for all the stealth killers.

Killers is more tense for me as I instantly start to plan out my attacks and when making my way to a gen what is around it with the best way to chase the survivor and herd them in the direction I want them to go as to cut down how many loops they may get before I strike them down muhaha.

  • @Endstille

My mistake I had LoL in my head. Haven't played either in years.

  • @SpaceCoconut said:

    1) It's free cosmetics.

It costs $10 and approximately (21,500 player level "Devotion"xp) 13.5 hours of matches to complete the pass as of the PTB numbers available. This is assuming the numbers aren't tweaked to increase or decrease the grind.

    2) You earn your money back

No, you have a chance to earn more Auric cells. The money you spent is lost. You can only earn the cells if you complete the pass up to that tier. If you're short, your only option is to purchase tiers for 100 cells each or purchase more cells outright.

    3) It doesn't affect gameplay

By design it does. A player without charms or skins will see players with charms and be psychologically driven to purchase the pass to earn the charms themselves. This is the same principle as public loot boxes in other games.

    4) Don't want it? Don't buy it.

This is where psychological manipulation comes in and how this system is designed to take advantage of people susceptible to this kind of manipulation. I won't get into such an in-depth topic here, but there have been a few studies in the past few years about the longterm effects of this kind of manipulation. You can also research the "Fear of Missing Out" since it works the same way.

    5) BHVR needs the $

Last I checked, their annual revenue is estimated at over $35 million. This is encompassing all their projects and not just DbD. The DLC and cosmetics store have done well enough for the game to reach its current point. The game still has frustrating core mechanics issues that are ignored, but I don't think it's a lack of capital that's preventing the fixes needed.

    6) The battlepass rewards aren't guaranteed.

You purchase the pass for the chance to grind for the cosmetics you might want. If you don't grind enough you don't get the cosmetic. The store offers cosmetics for a price and it's guaranteed albeit more expensive. If something comes up and someone can't grind enough then they lose their money and the chance to gain the cosmetic they were chasing. Not to mention losing the auric cell reward leaving them to spend another $10 for the next pass.

    7) It keeps the game alive

Wouldn't core balance fixes, overhauls of outdated systems and characters leading to fun and exciting gameplay for both sides keep the game alive too? EDIT: Madjura "If the only way to keep the game is alive by adding menial, paid grind to the game then the game isn't alive, it's just a grind simulator at that point."

1 - Its optional so only $10 if you choose to buy it and 13.5h isn't that much in this game

2 - Choosing to spend the $10 one of payment which enables you to earn the others for free isn't exactly a bad system. Infact compared to others it's pretty damn good.

3 - and if someone sees someone with a chocolate bar does that mean you HAVE to buy it what you are describing is someone wanting something not needing it.

4 - Yes don't buy it as I said above its a want not a need. To say it is predatory puts the whole onus onto the business and nothing onto the consumer. People get addicted to alcohol, chocolate and many things does that mean everyone selling those are then using predatory practices? The term is being used as a way to shift the blame of a problem some people have not the actual business.

5 - BVHR may have a revenue of 35m but what is the working profit? Revenue means nothing in a business it's what it takes home that counts. 35m compared to say activision blizzards 7.5billion is small fish in comparison.

Now take Ubisoft which has grown a lot over the past 5 years. In 2014 it did 266m in sales with an estimated loss of 65m. Selling is never the same as making money and hence Ubisoft and are now selling around 1.4 billions and making large profits.

6 - Again this is someone's choice. Some may grind it, others may be happy with a small amount and willing to pay more and many will not buy it. That is How any business works the consumer has to chose to buy from a company such as this. Nothing is ever forced.

7 - No one said it's the only way to keep it alive bug to work on everything you stated takes time and money. This is why lots of large games release a new one each year or two as rhey want the initial revenue and season pass sales. To work on a game for the long haul means you need constant revenue coming in and when you expand the team as it grows you have to make even more.

The game has DLC which has always been cheap considering so instead of reasoning that price which actually affects gameplay another method which is purely cosmetic and not needed seems alot more reasonable.

You really seem to have a bee in your bonnet about battlepasses and constantly blame the companies and remove any blame from the consumer who choses to buy it.

I suppose if someone chose to buy a car for 150k and 1 year later they found themselves in debt as they spent too much on other things and could no afford the payment that is then on the car dealer for selling a car as the consumer just couldn't help but buy.

People have to take responsibility for their own actions or you just end up enabling them. An addict doesn't get better by blaming others they get better by realising what is wrong within and changing themselves.

  • I only played nights at did the last one in 5 days.

This one isn't the second objective for survivors so looks more like the past events as we just have to do gens and hooks. Those were much easier to get imo and I think 10 days will be enough.

Anymore and I think people may start to get bored and want the normal game back so players for one stop farming as much.

  • While POE and Fortnite may allow the game to be played 100% for free that only happens due to the playerbase size and those that do spend silly amounts of money on the items not needed to actually play. Basically those others pay for your free content if not for them there would be no game.

Much like this and other games thw other revenue streams help the prolong the games existence and keeps what is needed to play lower priced.

You can buy the game and dlc's if one wishes but all you ever need is the base game. The only actual dlc you have to pay for are the licensed ones which make sense since the licensee needs paid.

    Every game is different.

DBD is a grind game for perks, items and cosmetics.

Destiny is a grind for loot game to do the higher content.

DOTA is a grind for characters and cosmetics.

COD is a grind to level up and gain more weapons and add-ons.

Most games have something hidden behind the normal play which keeps you coming back. Each one has a different business model but as long as what you need is an acceptable price that is all that matters and others help fund the game more by buying what is not needed.

Business is business they are in it to make money. The way to do this is to make something the consumer wants to part money for and feels it is worth it. 20% of the customers make up 80% of revenue is an old saying that holds true for lot of companies.

It's not even necessarily about needing more time to grind the stuff, but it'd be nice to have longer just to enjoy the event itself... it's fun to have new stuff in the game, Halloween is my favorite holiday, and it's unfortunate that a horror game doesn't take full advantage of October's connotation with horror.

It has always been the same with any event.

Take the 2017 one which ran from 26th to the 1st that was shorter than this but people did it.

2018 was longer 14 days but it was second objective they addes and you could only get so much per trial and the games could take longer if people tried and didn't suicide after filling a vial which hurt both sets of players.

This one like I said no longer has the second objective so its 4 days shorter to 10 like the 2017 one.

It's relative to how long it takes and no one know the finer details but I can see it like the past ones where you play the offering and for each gen/hook done you get rewarded. It's just how many gens or hooks you need to play for each piece that is the only relevant factor.

  • There is honest fix as a 2 man and 3 man are mixed with solo who would then be disadvantaged with this idea and since which is over 50% of the playerbase.

    @StevePerryPsychOut said:

This will probably be majorly controversial but...

The real answer is to make swf the baseline and buff solo queue survivor to swf level. Then you balance killers against the new baseline.

What is the main strength of swf? Information sharing. Bond should be baseline or the killer aura should be revealed when at least one survivor has line of sight on the killer. Alternatively, instead of perfect information like that, they could implement a ping system to allow less exact info sharing.

It impossible as the best SWF don't do well just becaue of the info it's more about the coordination they have.

    @BunnyTheHutt said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/749428#Comment_749428

This. A better solution would simply be too have two seperate modes for Quick Match and Ranked. Have 3-4 man SWF in quick match, and only have 2 man SWF in Ranked. That way the gap between solo and SWF is a lot closer then with 4 man SWF.

While nice in theory it would split the playerbase and would make queues for killers in the ranked really long and vice versa for survivors in the quick play mode.

You would need around 30% of killer players to want to play versus the 3 and 4 mans so would need an incentive and too much of an incentive hurts could then hurt the other queue. Balancing that could be the biggest nightmare.

Its not more for free. Its the same as last year in what you can get for free, but you have alot less time to do it.

Less time means little since its all about how easy they are to get. Remember the last one you had to do pustuals and fill vials now it's just gens so its relative to what needs done.

They are free if you can play over the period as you do tour normal objective and you can chose a skin no money has to change hands.

In reality they don't have to give anything away for any event but they do and people still complain it's not enough or they don't have the time.

So I guess they are damned if they do and damned if they don't as some are just not thankful for what they can get just what they feel they can't.

  • @Karltastisk said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/749242#Comment_749242

Actually yes. Because those lasted atleast 2 weeks/weekends. And no money was involved.

This one lasts 10 days and you can earn the same type of skins as last year and youbfet more for free than before is involved unless you "chose" to buy some.

They now give 6 pieces for who you wish fo free instead of the old 2 pieces and some still look at it like they are being scammed.

I just don't understand that mentality when they give more for free and you are not forced to buy anymore it is a choice you alone decide to make.

  • @Karltastisk said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/749139#Comment_749139

You said it yourself «cashing in on the event hype». And still Wonder Why someone might see it as a cash grab.

They are basically saying «Hey! We are gonna have this fun thing in two weeks with cool stuff, But if you do anything other than play tirellesly you won’t get much. And if you have time NOW you can have some. If you give is money that is».

Well that's on the players for wanting them after the event not the devs for giving them that option.

They used to say "Hey were are going to have this cool timed event where you can earn exclusive items and you have to play or will never get them" would that be more preferable so if you couldn't play you missed out?

  • Like with anything people see any change in this game as bad when it affects how they played.

I like the changes even though it's not much of a nerf. I mean free borrowed time for an anti tunnel medkit or an 8 seconds heal which is quick isn't the end of the world as they still give the player an extra hit.

They are still very strong and just stop the instant pick up/heal in the killers face scenarios which tbh felt like a kick in the teeth after you earned a hit/down.

  • The those perks aren't used much by good high rankers as you get a lot more use out of others. Your eyes and ears with that loud breathing have always been the best tool versus Myers in tier 1.

If it has been changed I can see why it was as it brings him in line with every other stealth killers and makes future changes to them a lot easier.

The tier 1 Myers build only works really well on certain maps anyway and for normal play it's only useful for the first stalk to tier 2 which should never take long even if they have spine chill.

  • Every event skin has been time limited and its never been a cash grab. The only reason they add them to the store is people always complained after the past events when they couldn't play and earn then.

It has also allowed them to hire more artists/designers to give us more options than just the normal 2 pieces which weren't even full outfits.

As for them being in the PTB it allows people not only to test them but to see which ones they want to grind for. I actually like this idea as some pick one they like but then wish they had chose another instead.

No matter what they do part of the community will act displeased due to time frame, no the killer or survivor they wanted, event wasn't that fun for them etc. It has happened with every event so far I don't see this being any different.

  • Jake and Hag I always go for one of each and if i can get more ill go for Spirit.

At least the survivor is an easy choice 😂.

  • If a survivor doesnt go down then the forums would be filled even more with survivor OP posts 😛. The game is designed so you should go down.

Mori's have always been in the game and I think they have came more into the spotlight with the emblems, Mori's haven always denied a pip in but the players have became increasingly frustrated over why they don't pip in so many other ways that this one offering is becoming the icing on the cake.

    1) it doesn't you pay and get ac, ac is worthless outside of this game

    3) for now

    4) wrong, charms so far will be exclusive

Before you try to argue make sure that you don't say stuff that is wrong like that it gives you your money back and you shouldn't compare dbd a game that actually has an entry fee combined with several dlc to a complete free 2 play game.

The point is you pay once and can use the auric cells for the future ones.

They said most if not all consmetics will be available in the store 6 months after the rift which may change to a lower time.

If you don't like it don't buy it. You aren't missing out on anything that changes the game play it's purely optional fluff items. The only only thing that changes gameplay is the DLC and quite frankly I'd rather they added this form of income than increase the price of the DLC.

Do you want a one day event or a 2-3 week event? What you said is not a valid argument. If this stayed as 22-1 someone might only have 3 days to play, if that was up to 2 weeks or 3, they could be able to play for 7 days instead which is more, this isn't a chooser/begger situation here.

It's very valid as take the Anniversary event which was around 14 days long. Some missed out due to vacations. These posts have happened with every event such as this.

You can never make and event so everyone will be able to play as long as they wish. As I said it's just how it is.

  • If they did this then any and every event would have to be prolonged or changed as for everyone there has ever been someone couldn't play as much as they wanted too.

It's just how all and any game event go.

  • I fail to see anything in the patch notes which will force survivors to create a new strat just to play the game.

The fundamentals are exactly the same. Gens, pallets, windows and looping.

Insta heals aren't even that much of a nerf one is now an anti tunnel item and the other an over time one. They still give a health state when needed.

The only real other thing is oblivious to certain killers but again that only affects things like OoO users. Those that always used our eyes instead of relying on a game mechanic to tell us will still do what we did.

  • How does the battlepass affect how you enjoy the game? It's purely cosmetics which most if not all will be released on the store after 6 months.

The only thing in this game that affects gameplay is the DLC.

If you don't wish to buy it enjoy the free stuff. The battlepass is a want for some if they like the cosmetics but its never a need.

  • @AliXnm said:

They came in handy when killers wanted to tunnel. What’s next our keys?! I swear killers are quick to complain about something to get us nerfed and it works! But when we complain we just need to “get good.” The devs are insane. Things get worse after every patch and you’d think they’d care to notice but no. 😒

That is why the new ones gives endurance or 8 second over time heal.

Endurance allows you to take a hit if the killer is close which means its anti tunnel and doesn't hurt those who don't.

The 8s well if that can't heal you before a hit it was not a safe unhook and after 8s it's the same a full heal.

I personally have only used them once or twice since 2016 and never feel I needed them.

The problem isn't how they could be used but how they were. To be able to heal up instantly in a killer face or another especially when all four can do it really wasn't good for the game. It needed changed and players will adapt to these changes as they have with them all.

  • Fair is subjective as players seem to only comment on or dislike a change that affects them personally.

Anyone could see insta heals were overly strong and they really helped stronger players to prolong a chase more so than the lower skilled ones. It also was too strong especially in SWF for picking up downed friends at end game in the killers face and tanking a hit for them.

I'll just keep this baby here so I can have more time to gather votes though.

Fair enough. I would say though it can make the poll kinda void since some will just answer with a knee jerk answer rather than an informed one 😉.

  • It's way to early to tell how it will affect her or if it's a good change for the game.

A poll would be better after a few days or the ptb ends when people have a chance to test her properly.

  • That doesn't work. The only way they listen is with actual reasonable feedback from people who test it out.

Knee jerk reactions no longer have the same effect as Freddy taught them that lesson and why they take a lot more time to make changes. Even the dc epidemic versus Legion took 5 months for the changes.

  • Insta heals are a very strange concept much like Mori's but I put Mori's more in line with keys as both of those can end a game before the complete objective is done.

For me Insta heals are more in line with one shot add-ons as both work of the heal state and cut down or add more to chase times.

Mori's and keys are frustrating to some as they can make someone derank just for loading into a game. In a game where many people play to pip having that talking away from you with an offering feels pretty cheap.

I wouldnt change mori's or keys how they work as its more work and they are designed to end the game prematurely but maybe someone who is morried should auto black pip if more than a set amount of gens are left and a key where more than one escapes also allows an auto black pip to the killer.

  • People fear any change to the game and become very vocal about it. Most changes on both sides have saw the same responses on the forum and over time once the players adapted many turn out to be no where near as bad as they initially thought.

While I Personally thought she was fine at base that doesn't mean my opinion is what is best for the game. I would rather wait to test changes and give feedback on them.

Why would it not go down in the Terror Radius? I didn't say it would go down in a chase, but Deep Wounds needs too be a threat instead of a minor inconvenience. You shouldn't be mending in the middle of the open because the killer is nearby, and thus it makes it pointless.

This was the case and players broke the chase by moonwalking along with other ways which made it an easy down for any competent players which felt cheap.

  • The problem with perks is some will always be better so changing the meta will just create a new one.

The meta will always be about slowing down the game or prolonging a chase for the most part as length of time to chase and down for killer or time to do gens for survivor are the major factors in the game.

Some like myself who change up perks as I play around and don't care so much about my outcome but for those that just want to win some will always stand out above the rest.

  • They are looking to do something with the servers and hopefully it's a time out system as I've never been a fan of banning someone.

Dcing ruins the game for other people in the match and why something needs done.

Fixing the game will take a lot more time than people think. Some think a few small changes will make it better but it won't as many just won't play versus certain things if they have a choice.

Now suiciding on the hook is another problem that will arise. This may be sorted with the husk idea they are discussing so the player is still left in game.

I would say make struggling on the hook only work for half of the first stage with the same amount of tried allowed. You then hang for 30s until stage 2 then remove the button pressing for struggling as tbh it serves no purpose anymore and instead put a give up option you can use but this can only be used if you and one other are left in the game so dying to give them the hatch still works.

This won't stop it completely but it does waste time for the others and allow saves to happen and more hooks for the killer.
