Cool idea I would love to see this happen.
-
The thing is a lot of people did. It really affects the new people more who don't understand what needs done and then of course the emblems mean if a killer camps and the survivors do gens to punish it they cannot pip or even black pip at some ranks.
The devs made changes to try snd stop camping and people along with just doing gens so they play around more but when the strat to punish someone punishes yourself it causes frustration.
-
The main problem I see is BHVR have been engaging with the players and gave them a voice from the start which has led to everyone thinking they can dictate what's best for the game and the company as a whole.
BHVR have been the only company to make a successful game in this genre that has sustained a playerbase. I'd say that alone shows what they have done is actually make a good game with a successful business model which appeals to gamers.
In this day and age it's not easy for a small indie company to do this and grow. Most fail within a few months, even large AAA developers can struggle to keep players and tend to work on getting the initial money in and then moving onto the next sequel to the game.
Bugs aren't as easy to fix and also take the most resources. Paying for those resources is why DLC and optional pay elements can be needed. Let's not forget the dlc for this game is very cheap considering and half if it you can earn in game. This of course all happened only because they bought the game from starbreeze which as per what we know is still being paid off. I personally would rather they keep it this way and charge more for the fluff items which are less needed to enjoy the whole game.
People are too quick to criticise the devs when things don't seem to fall into what they personally want and forget the devs have made one the most successful asymmetrical games out there. This is not done by chance but by making a product people want to play as they obviously enjoy it. How many game last 3 years in today's market and can continue?
Not one multiplayer game out there is free from bugs and even devs teams with much more staff struggle to keep ahead of them.
-
Secret offerings should be hidden as there is so few of them.
I also wouldn't be against all offerings being hidden apart from blood point ones as people dc with certain map offerings.
I think the game should be accepted for what it is and no one should be able to cherry pick what they verse.
-
Tryhard isn't really a fair term to use in a game as it's just a word used by players who don't like when the other side are playing to the best of their abilities.
Generally when everyone seems "tryhard" you are just versing players higher than your own skill level which happens on both sides and why the nerf posts are rampant.

As HellCatJane said you need to follow that link and create a support ticket.
Ban discussions aren't allowed on the forum and can lead to a ban on here.

I agree and have never enjoyed the emblem system.
I dislike the pip being out of your own hands and dependent on how the others all play. If no one gets caught it's a depip. If someone farms the other quickly you can depip. If they don't let you heal them you can depip. There is too much reliance on others which can make how well you play seem worthless.
You should have pipped and been close to a double pip with this game.
-
Nurse doesn't need add-ons and imo you are better off not using them at all as she becomes strongest with muscle memory.
Every other killer play around with some and see what ones you like to use as they won't hurt you as much.

And who stated it was a bug?
Source?
It has been stated you are not meant to lose a pip if they all DC. This is a frequent visual bug so check your pips after exiting the match to see if you lost any not the actual end game screen where it says you did.
Sometimes you can lose a pip to another bug of course.
-
I voted No as a non ranked I don't think it would make much of a difference as its not a proper ranked aystem we have anyway. The rewards would in theory be less or wouldnt roll over to the ranked mode so the grind increases so it really only serves to split the playerbase imo.
If the game had 100k+ players every day and they also dramatically lessened the grind then maybe I would change my mind.
-
Its not a great idea as DS is an anti tunnelling perk but it should be this way for early game only so they don't do it from the start.
It's a perk that should be a just in case and not a you can't down me again no matter what. Personally I think it should deactivate once the gens are done.
Tunnelling at end game when the gens are done should not be punished as a strat as it's a last gasp attempt for a kill.
-
It depends on what you want out of it.
Myers is a good killer and is fun to play and one of the only ones who can still jump scare survivors.
Ghostface when you learn them is a strong killer in the right hands. He has a slower paced playstyle and stalks like Myers but his power can be quite inconsistent with how survivors break him out of stealth.
Legion can be fun but can also get boring over time. Good for farming bloodpoints and again in the right hands can be strong it's just his power doesn't help after the first hit and it's dependant on how close survivors are together for max benefit.
What killers do you already have and perks? I say this as Leatherface while not considered the best killer (I like him) has the best perk in the game BBQ and Chill for getting double bloodpoints each match.

True.
Then its a measly 80,546,000
😉
So say 30k average per game and 10 min average (bbq and WGLF a must) that's 448 hours roughly to get all chars maxed out minus the BP offerings, DBP weekends or other events which give more bloodpoints.
Mind you once you get the chars you want with the perks which can happen at anytime is it still a grind or just using what you have to level up others for the fun of it 😁.
-
Yeah but prestiging is optional of course for those that love to grind as the tiny increase in rarity isn't worth that extra work 😉.
-
To be fair getting to lvl 40 hasn't been much of a grind for a while. It was always about getting the perks you wanted on all the chars you played hence they lessened the grind from that point.
The game has always been a grind and it's what keeps a lot of people playing.
The bloodwebs take a bit of getting used too and learning how the entity works so you can get it to swallow more of it makes them go much faster.
-
Some do have slight advantages over others but they are so little it really makes no difference.
Claudette is easiest for stealth.
Ace is a bit quieter when injured especially compared to say Ash.
Females are smaller overall but all that means little as a good player is a good player.
So yes characters have and always will be just skins so play who you like the look of best.

I understand having some room for growth, but a green rank should never be in a game with a red rank unless they are SWF together. There should be no reason I should have too fight a red rank killer in green ranks, that's just unfair for everyone in the game.
Personally I'd rather to be able to play a game even with that scenario than wait an hour for someone closer to my rank.
It should be the worst case scenario but depending on the time of day in some regions with lower populations and of course if its working properly it could make it more likely.

@Mr_K I am not talking about lore... I'm talking about an equivalent to the Mori mechanic.
There is none.
A key is actually the equivalent of a mori as it enables you and or the others to leave the match with only doing a partial amount of the overall objective.
-
Cross play has always been an option it's just Sony is allowing it without jumping through hoops now.
The devs have already said it's not something on the list of things they are working on atm but it's not off the cards but I would think if it does come it could be a while away since right now the high priority is getting dedicated servers to a playable point for everyone.

I'm sorry but if someone started to pull a slanted pallet onto me while I was chasing them I would just stick my arm/hand out and push it aside.
-You seem caught up with this "realism" thing so let me ask you how many knife stabs you could take while running full speed?
-How many chainsaw attacks and meat hooks could you take before you could no longer run?
-Do you know how to fix a generator with nothing but your bare hands?
This game isn't realistic so don't try to base it off something it clearly doesn't follow.
As @MegaWaffle stated above.
The game is set in a fictional realm where survivors are bludgeoned, stabbed, chainsawed, trapped, hooked and mori'd and then when sacrificed or killed sent back to wait at a campfire so they can do it all over again.
I think being able to chainsaw multiple people is pretty low on the unbelievable or realism factor in this game. It's a game just enjoy it for what it is.

Recycle the perk, a buff to numbers would just make it promote basement camping really.

I'm rank 12 survivor right now and I got paired with a rank 5, who pipped into rank 4 after the game. The ranking system still is unfair for all.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/730320#Comment_730320
Neither one should happen, it's why the ranking system needs a complete overhaul, not some minor tweaks too try and fix it.
There will be some cases where it isn't working and that may be what you are seeing. They are still working on it and asking for feedback so they can pinpoint anything which may be wrong.
The ranking does have to have some room for expanding though as if not you could be stuck in a queue for way too long hence it will widen as the time goes on incase there is no one around tour rank or if your region has a low population of players. You will also see others joining who may have waited a while a few ranks away from yours.
What Peanits said was that it should expand to a max of 6 ranks either way if the above is the case.
-
A QOL update as in placement. It cannot spawn directly next to a gen or in the survivors view when loading in.
I dont think it needs to be buffed as it does it's job it's just risky using any totem and they are not meant to last the whole game but it should last at least until some less mobile killers can setup for the match.
-
I dont think not healing was the major issue.
The main problem was it punished the killers just for playing the game. The aura isn't much of a downside for good players as they will still waste the killers time and if all 4 run it that is 4 extra chases in a match which can be a lot of time.
While the nerf killed the perk I'd prefer it to be reworked as something else entirely.
-
Totem placement something which needs a lotnof possible placements. As it's beed stated making less spots mean it is easier to memorize locations.
The only places I don't like to see them spawning are near a gen or appearing right next to someone loading in.
If they always spawned next to the killer survivors are being told where they are. It's bad enough when some killers instantly check them before gens as that also gives them a heads up where it is.
As others have said they are high risk for the reward and one of the reasons I don't like using them. I'd rather have 4 perks than 2 or 3 after 30s.
If your totem is out in the open use the time to get someone down and expect it to be broken as if you camp it you are giving them easy time on gens anyway.
-
It's kinda always a tunnel me day 😉 it's the most efficient strat to whittle down survivors and why DS was changed to try and discourage it.
You cant change a leopard's spots though.
-
@WolfPad06 said:
@Peanits That doesn't really change anything though. People can STILL do a generator before choosing to go remove their traps now, if they wish. They just have the option to go remove their traps first since auras are shown with inactive traps.
Ruleset #2 forces the survivor to either spend a lot longer looking for boxes (since they can't see the auras) before doing a gen, or as you say, doing a gen first to have the auras shown but now they run the risk of going to the wrong boxes and/or getting chased and not having enough time to take them off.
I understand your argument, but the option to do what you claim R#2 base kit would cause is still there. R#2 base would simply make waiting for the trap to trigger to take it off a lot riskier, or forcing you to waste a lot of time to avoid that risk.
In absolutely no way, shape or fun is that a nerf to Pig.
I think the point is if they couldn't see the boxes there would be no point in reaching. It makes survivors do the gens first so they can see them as to not waste more time blond searching.
Right now they can see the boxes so have that choice and well some do some don't but if they couldn't see them tou have to agree most wouldn't unless they are new to the game so it doesn't help in the high ranks.
I put it out that maybe rsno2 could be tweaked so the survivor sees one (maybe two boxes at random and they don't see more when any gen is done. They only see more as they search. Maybe even if the Pig chases the trapped survivor for an amount of time or re downs them they are all shown for that survivor for the duration of the game.
This is to make survivors want to get them off as they don't know the most efficient route. It also stop the Pig tunnelling as it's less beneficial for prolonging the game. It's a mix of rsno2 and what it is now.
-
Stridor is amazing on her. It's one perk I love to use but I did stop using it a while ago as I found myself becoming too reliant on it.
Anything is subject to change even hardly used perks so I change up my builds alot.
-
Thats was already done and the killer queue times at red ranks were too long and caused many players to start deranking just to find a match.
Not everything which sounds good works in practice as the past has shown.

@twistedmonkey Any friend who is serious about the game?
They're new players. And new players, on the average, are not serious about any new game they buy. They have no investment in the game yet, outside of the initial MSRP, which in this case was likely a mere $10 due to the sale. They're here to try the game with their friends and have a little fun.
And when the current SWF system negates that fun for them, they're likely to move on. Which means, yet again, new players not retained. And if you watch Steamcharts for yesterday and today post-bloodhunt, that's exactly what appears to be happening, yet again, on PC.
Unless console numbers are astronomical, because PC has been relatively flat for the past year despite all the 50% off sales they've done, this game needs to start retaining new players. And it isn't doing so. And this latest DLC and hotfix hasn't seemed to change that trend.
But, going back, new players are extremely unlikely to be "serious" about the game this early in their time and money investment. That kind of dedication takes time, and given the current situation, it's time they're unlikely to give the game.
Unfortunately, I don't have a solution. But it's starting to look like the current change isn't working out.
Well we have already discussed this and left it as we could not agree.
New players have always had a hard time with the game as it has a steep learning curve at the start. They will lose more than they win and why if you look at steam achievements 26.5% of people who own the game have reached a level of 25 with a character.
At least this change means the one side which had no choice in versing the higher ranks who play alone may not be turned off while the other at least has their friends to try and keep them playing it.
People just need to get over the "I need to instantly play with friends on my terms whether that ruins someone's enjoyment or not" and look at the bigger picture as without a completely new mode which I cant see as sustainable or making the ranks into brackets where once again they don't have any choice to play with friends I can't see a solution. At least right now they still have a choice.
The game will never command huge numbers daily as it's not for everyone and it has been around the 20-30k mark for a while which are great numbers. Natural dips happen each year but the low point in feb/March of 2017 where it peaked at 7k players at least is in the past. The way I see it is I'd rather have a constant playerbase for 2 years than it dwindle down to its lowest again and every change they make people state this will happen but it has yet too.
DS nerf = game will die, past exhaustion change = game will die, Mom change = game will die and that is just survivor ones when it happens to killer they also scream the same.
Remember the stats last Oct/November where the devs stated they hit the highest ever number of over 1million pc players taking part in the halloween event that is when the userbase peaked at 75k players. Events and DLC bring in players and this wig friends will get used to the change it just takes time to accept and work around it.
What is best for the game may not always make people happy until they realise it's not so bad which has been shown time and time again as most changes do make sense when you look at it from an outside perspective.

I will tell you for sure. My low ranked friends are wanting to not play that is the impact. They don't go to youtube and try to learn this game like some of us higher ranked players do. Its not really your problem or fault but you're making the game not fun for them and others like them especially when you have so many killers that take advantage of knowing they can get an easy kill off them. At least the old way me being rank 3-4 and looping say a rank 11-20 they can decide to stop chasing me and get the people their actual rank. They can still have fun and get their kills. With how it is now the low ranked survivor have zero chance.
A rank 10-20 killer probably had little fun also but in that scenario they would have no choice and they may stop playing.
Remember how the impact works. 100 new Survivors unhappy could mean 25 killers have longer queues while 100 new killers unhappy could mean 400 survivors have longer queues.
It's a lesser evil giving people a choice rather than force the issue onto just one side which has been the case for a long time.
Any friend who is serious about the game can and should learn more before playing in a higher rank imo If they don't want to be at a disadvantage and they do have that choice. The same can't be said when it was the killer who was disadvantaged as they had to deal with what the game gave them.
There will be some tweaking needed as edge cases are being shown with solo players and one scenario could be them being matched with the lower ranked person in a lobby while the killers rank is being ignored.
In an ideal world the ranking would only match in brackets say 20-11 and 10-1 and with deranking fixed so its no longer abusable but that would mean a rank 1 could never play with anyone ranked 11-20 and you couldn't play with your new friends until they got better anyway. Ay least currently you can it's and choice you can make but its harder for them.

Yeah, but I think at least tea bagging and !UNNECESSARY! flashlight clicking should be reportable and bannable.
You can't really ban for someone using a function available or many killers would have been banned for camping, tunnelling or hitting someone repeatedly on the hook.
It may be unnecessary in your eyes but so are many things and where then would the ban line be? Should anything and everything that annoys someone or deemed unnecessary then be considered bannable?
Bannable toxicity is reserved for the worst offenses like working with the other side to explicitly ruin someones experience or in the end game chat and messages beyond that.
Anything in game you use to bait the other is fair play and part of any normal online games experience. If it annoys someone it technically has done it's job as being angry means you may play less efficient and of course they do it for attention and to get you to chase them.
Making a post about it tends to say it has been working. The best advice i can give is to let it go, ignore it and laugh it off you will be better off 😉.

I tend to view things on a match-by-match basis. I don't want my game to end just like that knowing that the people who did so ended the game arguably putting in less effort than what is normally required.
Also, Franklin's ain't good against keys. Nothing stops either the same person or someone else from picking it up again.
That's understandable and why I wouldn't mind either of them being removed or reworked as it's not just about my viewpoint but what's good for the game😁.
-
@TAG said:

I think so, because if we are talking about a casual game, I would imagine that it is generally not fun for casual players for the game to suddenly be over for them faster than normal at a moment's notice.
Being casual I can just play another match and move on.
Keys will make me bring Franklin's or try to do better before they can use it and Mori's make me play safer and more stealthy avoiding the killer more.
I just see them as a way to change up the game a bit by changing up perks or playstyle.
I wouldn't be upset if either were reworked or removed tbh but I really don't mind them.
-
Nope I love a challenge and juking the top tier killers feels so much more rewarding if the player is good with them.
-
I need those extra bloodpoints. The aura reading can be good but only on the most mobile killers.
Without the bloodpoints I wouldn't use it as other perks can be more helpful.
-
Keys are balanced due to Mori's imo but in the end does it matter? Are either item really that bad for a casual game?
It's not designed to be overly competative game its portion of players who chose too view it that way.
-
I think $5 is the most reasonable price on the poll list but since cosmetics are never needed and it's just a different look it's a want over need option $10 is also fine.
I would rather they keep the DLC price low and sell fluff items for more 😉.
-
I think she is 99% balanced. If I could make one change it would be prayer beads.
-
Haven't used them since 2017 as I felt I relied on them too much and found it more fun without one.

He does actions though that lead to death. He left Georgie to bleed out, which no other entity or person touched him after that. While that probably only works as a Mori, leaving someone to die is still a homicide. He's more of a "leave and go", but integrating him into DBD's world isn't that difficult, you just need to be creative and think outside the box. I think you're gravitating too much to the actual story and lore of IT, and not what can potentially happen.
While Georgie bled out technically that wasnt Pennywise but the alien. The alien being a shape shifter made that choice as Pennywise is just a form he choses to use as a way to lure and induce fear.
Now one could argue they are one in the same but that doesn't change the fact there can only be one killer not two which is then still the alien itself in its one true form.
Take Mystique no matter what form she kills in she is always the one killing. What she portray's on the outside doesn't change that.
The alien is technically the only killer in the books/movie no matter what form IT is portraying.
I may be over thinking it you are right I just don't see Pennywise as a good idea for a killer or one which would translate well into the game.

Also pennywise being able to mindgame was a joke on what you just typed previously. Its not about a licensed killer being possible to make for DBD , its if it brings in PUBLICITY and MONEY.
You'd think forum members who live on here would realize this by now.
Oy Vey...
Pennywise gets stronger based on fear btw . He also does kill? Um hello ? How else would he eat then? LMAO
Its almost like you didn't read the book or watch the movies.
Of course its about bringing in money no one has ever said otherwise that's a given.
The point is people are allowed to voice opinions on whether they think they like the idea of something being added it is afterall what a forum is partly for.
Yes and fear in this game could be horrendous. Another doctor power which people hate. Another dream state which people hated and was chnaged. Just because its possible doesn't mean it should hence I personally don't think it would work on this game.
Penny wise doesn't kill anyone he is not the killer. If you had watched or read you would know. He is a projection the alien entity uses as a lure and put fear into people so IT can devour them and why they are alive when taken to IT as dead people have no fear.
"In both the book and the films, It is an ancient alien creature, older than civilization, and in King’s novel, older than our universe. It feasts on the flesh of humans simply because our fears are easy to manifest and they make us taste better."

Pennywise's greatest mindgame was making players like you in the community think he cant work.
It's a video game dude, it's not hard to figure out something for him
So how do you seen a mind game power working in this game? How do you make a character that doesn't actually kill into a killer? It doesn't fit the lore of Pennywise at all.
Every licensed killer so far has a power that fits them even if its not always great.
Yes its a video game and they could give him any power but then it won't be Pennywise so why not just make a skin for the Clown instead?

Pretty much the conclusion I’ve came to as well. There really is no way to make the system work well with swf, it’s just a unfortunate fact.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/720558#Comment_720558
It does make sense. I’m commenting that killers praising the change, then saying how good they are at the game are hypocrites. The game got much easier for good killers with this change, but not in a good way.
Tbh I haven't seen posts from killers about how they are suddenly now good at the game. Easier games yes but better?
The ones praising the actual change are mainly those it affected who faced red ranks when they were not ready too.
I mean the same could be reversed and I could state survivors constantly claimed to be good when they brought in a high rank swf player so they could run the killer while they had an easier escape but that doesn't make what I said true.
