Being an #########, while heavily frowned upon, is not bannable.
-
Wait...this exam is actually real? I assumed we were meme'ing when I wrote my response :D
-
Right in this room. The Doctor is ready to see you. Some say he has shocking methods but his patients really get hooked on his methods.
-
@Mister_xD Yeah, I see that with that screenshot above.
I wonder if Peanits just mis-spoke when he stated that they only set it twice like that. Or maybe he assumed we knew that Tome Challenges do show up so he didn't bother mentioning it when he talked about the randomness.
All well! :D
-
@Dzeior Then I guess I need to add a new FAQ Question to my previous list...
If your team isn't healing you, you're going to lose anyway so why bother with Self Care? At least with Self Care, this gives me as an individual survivor the chance to escape. If the rest of the team won't heal each other up for whatever reason, I'll hope that we can either get the generators done fast enough so that I can leave or they'll get themselves slaughtered and I can Hatch Escape. Being able to heal myself takes one factor out of bad teammates hands.
At the very least, I can get more BP by staying in the game longer, even if I can't "win" with an escape. Escaping is a nice cherry on top but escaping isn't the End All Be All of the game.
-
The same reason I said in the first 5,000 "Self Care Bad!" threads and what I will probably say in the next 5,000 "Self Care Bad!" threads.
There really is no such thing as a good or bad perk; just good ways and bad ways to use it
I personally use Self Care (as a level 1 Red) because I have found that there is one survivor I can actually count on in this game in Solo; Me
I have been burned far far far too many times by fellow survivors just unhooking me and bolting as fast as they can away from me. So I need a way to fix myself without needing another player. Now for the FAQ:
- Why don't you run Pharmacy or X perk? Either way I'm burning a perk spot so what does it matter if I burn it with Self Care or with another perk that usually will take even longer than it does to just Self Care?
- Why don't you bring a med kit? Because sometimes I want to run a tool kit or a map or a rubber chicken. Med Kits will also run out if I manage to get hit multiple times throughout the game
- Why do you just run into the corner and heal while you let me sit on the hook!!!!? I don't, see my second sentence where I stated that there are good ways and bad ways to use a perk. Letting the team get slaughtered so that I go hide in the corner of the map to heal is the bad way to use self care. There are bad ways to use every perk but you don't see people yelling about how X Perk is awful.
- Why don't you just play wounded? Because I'm not great at chases and I find I can be a lot more effective in chases if I know I can take a hit. I can burn a lot more of the killers time if I can take two hits than if I start wounded and go down in one shot.
-
My text above was replying to @Akhaten, either mine broke or the forum broke so quoting isn't working
-
Have they ever actually said they do that?
It would be a weird and unlikely coincidence that Shrine happens to spit out for that challenge but Tomes are also active for over a month so it's not like it's 0% chance that the perk shows up.
I just find it would be such a weird thing for them to lie about. Especially since they could just not say anything like they do with so many topics. People are going to throw out the "it's rigged" argument regardless of what BHVR says so why bother answering with a lie when you could just say nothing?
-
According to BHVR, it is completely random (Peanits has specified they controlled it exactly two times; an April Fools and once because of a bug screwing something up).
-
I like it when the unhooked person runs right at me, triggering their BT when I smack them, and then get ShockedPikachu.jpg when I then continue to pursue them because the person doing the unhooking has bolted.
Most of the time I will slug someone who got a raw deal of a unsafe unhooking (I've had the double hook from some clown survivor doing a unsafe hook and it sucks) but people who pull that stunt do not get that mercy. Right back up on the hook for you!
-
No there shouldn't be
It's bad enough when you get the SWAT TEAM SWF group doing everything they can to make your life hell, wait until they can make your life hell AND then kill you just to rub it in your face.
-
Yeah, that happened to me a match ago (I went through an entire chase, double hit, and hooked and then got DS'ed by the survivor I then found with BBQ & Chill so I had to travel at least the 35M to get them). It never even dawned on me that DS might have come into play in that situation.
I find it annoying but I'm not all that concerned about it. Really my main issue with DS is how many people use it for trolling because they're #########. The people who use it to body block the gate and let themselves get hit knowing that I either pick them up and they DS me or they just take the 60 seconds to crawl to the gate. It's a smart play on their part but it's super annoying but I'm not sure how you could fix it without basically breaking DS in the EGC...
-
I have found it's not lag, it's timing.
For hitting someone as they slide, people don't seem to realize a killer can reach across a pallet or a window (stand on the other side hugging the pallet/window without vaulting, a killer still can hit you).
For the slamming of the pallet, a survivor can slam the pallet when getting hit so usually it's the survivor mistiming a slam and doing it just a fuzz too late.
There are certainly times when it is lag but I have found way more often than not that it's just a survivor underestimating their speed/distance or mistiming their play.
-
Either escaping or killing at least one minute
I'm not good at chases (doesn't help that I essentially refuse to loop as I find it incredibly boring and completely antithesis to what the game should be) so my primary goal is usually just to get away. If I do get myself caught, my goal is to at least kill as much time as I can.
-
I've had those kind of matches before where I see the absolute carnage and domination I did and feel bad figuring the MM screwed over some poor Green/Yellow bastards only to find out that they were reds.
Although the fact that I'm a 1 Red Rank Survivor should tell you it doesn't take a whole lot of skill to Red Rank :D
-
I try my best not to tunnel but I'm not going to just ignore survivors playing like morons either.
If you let me walk 10 feet before unhooking, I'm gonna turn right around and ######### slap you for it.
Although I will commonly just slug the person who was saved if I can't get to the person doing the unhooking. It punishes the survivors as a unit for dumb plays but minimal punishment for the person who was unsafely hooked.

Warm milk puts you to sleep right away, it's scientifically proven (maybe).
I may have to try it one day. Lot of people seem to be on Team Warm Milk for calm (like you said, calms you for sleeping). That just sounds so gross...
-
@Orion said:
I don't think you know what DDOS means. It's not the same as hacking. Also, there are no more hosts in SWF.
To calm down I recommend some warm tea or milk. Sounds silly, but they can be quite calming. You could also take a break from DbD.
Gah! Warm milk sounds absolutely disgusting :D
Taking a break though is a solid idea if you're getting that frustrated by it. The SWAT TEAM SWF can be an absolutely mind screw of frustration and you trying to play the next game angry isn't going to do you any good.
-
Wow, my Death Animation is only like 15 seconds. You should really submit a ticket to BHVR if it's taking you 20 hours to go from your third down to sacrificed
-
Whether you lost connection because you rage quit or because your internet sucks means nothing to the other four players whose game just got ruined.
Sucks for you if your internet isn't good enough to handle the game but if it's not, sorry but that's a you problem.
The only people I'll give sympathy to is when the game crashes since that's (usually) not their fault.
-
The game has a brutal learning curve so that's not very helpful.
Not only does that affect you as a player (you just won't be as good or know the tricks to effectively play) but it also affects your opponents as a lot of new players will use unsporting tactics (face camping and tunneling as killers or hiding and being timid as a mouse while you're getting hung out to dry as a survivor on the hook).
The game can be super fun but it takes time for you to learn how to really play and it takes time for you to get out of the beginner ranks to play with/against people who know what they're doing.
-
I love the new sabo system way more than the old system
As a survivor, there is a big risk/reward to doing the sabo since you basically have to do it with the killer on your ass (since the hooks come back so quickly, you can't just sabo the hooks around the killer and leave them scrambling). If you go too early to do the sabo, the killer just turns around and goes to a different hook. Wait too long though and the killer is going to give you a smack for your sabo troubles. Wait way too long and the killer is going to give you a smack for your troubles AND the person being carried is going to get hooked anyway since you waited too long and didn't get the sabo done before getting smacked.
As a killer, I like that the survivor has to do the risk/reward I put above and it allows me to see another survivor. If the survivor successfully sabos before I get there, now I have my own risk/reward choice to make. Do I try to get the downed person to a new hook? Do I drop them right there and go after the sabo person, risking losing both of my kills (or rewarding by hooking the sabo and then coming back to hook the downed person).
Sooooooo much better than the old system
-
I never have any fun
I play this game as a way to punish myself to try to help absolve mankind of their sins
I'm like those guys who whipped themselves to gain God's mercy on the world but I found a far more painful method than just physical pain; playing Killer in Dead by Daylight :D
-
I mean...not really cause I'd have no idea you were bringing a super tricked out toolbox (I guess I can see you're bringing A toolbox), Prove Thyself, and I expect survivors to do gens if I'm not actively chasing them
-
I don't care either way as a survivor or as playing as him
The only killer I really dislike going against is Doctor and that's just because I find the Madness stuff super annoying. I suppose to lesser extent Oni as well just because I face him rarely so I haven't really been able to figure out how to play against him and his super ogre powers.
But anyway, yeah, I'm cool with Freddy. Bring it on you Christmas Sweater nerd!!!
-
He killed two people and the game slowed down immensely after the first three gens popped.
I guess if you demand to get 4K every game, it won't be "fun for the killers" as he whined but he seemed to do plenty fine against a team that clearly knew what they were doing and how to best kill a killers time so the others can do gens.
Hell, he spent the entire first half of the game running around that shack. Granted he had reason as he was chasing two survivors but he completely ignored two survivors and an entire half of the map so of course those two are going to cut through the gens immediately.
But maybe I'm one of those weird killers who can just have fun playing the game and doesn't throw a whiny fit because I ONLY kill two survivors in a game against a very good team...
EDIT: Also, I don't know if anyone else noticed watching but there were multiple moments where there was clearly some kind of cut in footage. How much footage was cut, I can't say for sure but it is absolutely obvious SOME game play time was cut from this video.
-
OK, so my understanding is...
- It's the same button as a skill check (so Left Bumper) but it does not have a prompt or a skill check (although FixDBDPls said it has a prompt, maybe that's just on the PC or maybe somehow I just missed it)
- You have to click LB before the skill check pops up (or at least click it when there is not a skill check actively happening)
- The survivor gets some kind of an indicator on their screen with a clock to let them know they will be healed in X time so I haven't abandoned you, you're getting healed
- The health kit has to have some kind of charge left in order for you to use the syringe. No health kit equals no syringe
Thanks!
-
I would love for that but mainly set it up for one survivor and one killer challenge at the same time
I have been heart broken too many damn matches thinking I finally got the "Unhook X amount of people" challenge done only to realize I was on a killer challenge 😰
-
I'm too greedy to let the game end that quickly
Once I got the 3 in the basement, I'd have spammed dream snares for all those wonderful points and then just walked away and let the 3 get unhooked.
I wants my BP! Murdering everyone immediately gives me low BP and that makes me a sad boi.
EDIT: Just to make sure I'm clear, I'm not saying you were wrong or mocking what you did. I just don't have any of these stories since I don't want my games to go that quickly so I purposefully throw away the advantage to let them back in the game.
-
I very very rarely bring Mori (and I don't think I have brought it since the dedicated servers thing is setup)
Usually I'd bring a Mori if I thought I was going up against a 4 Man SWF (though I would not use it unless I confirmed it was a SWAT TEAM SWF)
Now the only time I bring a Mori is if I have a Daily that says I have to kill someone by my own hand. But even then, I don't use it until I am at the last hook for the survivor (or if it is EGC and at that point, I either use it now or I'm not going to be able to).
Mori's are just super boring to me and I lose out on a lot of precious BP so I have no reason to ever really use the stupid thing
-
My biggest issue is BHVR makes it such a pain in the ass to report that most will not bother (if they even realize they have to use the report function in the game, gather all of the information a ticket requires you to gather, get video proof of what's going on, and then go to their website to register for an account to report someone).
I knew what you had to do to report someone and it took me a little over 20 God damn minutes to do everything needed to report someone and I don't even know if BHVR did anything about it.
It's absolutely ridiculous the amount of hoops you have to jump through to (properly) report someone.
There's no reason why the the in-game report function shouldn't be enough for BHVR to look into it and if it truly does nothing without you submitting video evidence, they should just remove it instead of letting people think in-game reporting does a thing.
-
There are times when the battle is lost and it's time to just cut and run
I got a super salty message from a survivor when I didn't go save them....across the map....when the killer had NOED....and was chasing me
Sorry dude, at that point, you're SOL and I'm gettin the F out of here :D

@Dead_by_Gadfly said:
Its not that blood warden is a bad perk its that its easily countered by 99ing the gate, which is a broken mechanic imo. It should regress slowly back to 50.
I used BW a ton but then I kept getting 99ed by experienced players
It's a perk that can be super good but it is very situational and the craftier teams can downright eliminate it with 99ing.
Sure I can open the gate on my own (and if they have 99ed it, I will) but then I need to down and hook someone to get BW to go and if I'm busy opening the gate, I'm clearly not chasing someone that I can use to activate it. So I'm kind of damned if I do and damned if I don't.
Although getting to watch some clown teabag at the gate only to realize "oh #########" when they turn to run out is sooooooooooooo ######### satisfying that it's kind of worth the 80% of the time when BW doesn't even come into play...

Or they post their whining about [Insert Mori, Keys, Camping, Butt Dancing, Clicky Clicks, or various other annoyances the game has], kill the hour by playing DBD, getting [Moried, Keyed, Butt Danced On, Clicky Clacked, or various other annoying thing] again, and then posting their whiny complaint 😅
-
The Jeepers Creepers fella since the director turned out to be a super creep. Which sucks because I think he could be a neat killer given his weapons and backstory
As others have stated, Jason probably won't be until they figure out their legal battle
Other than those two for circumstances outside the actual character, I don't really see a reason why any other killer/monster couldn't be in the game. It's just a matter of getting the rights to the character.

You didn't understand. Some survivors (a very long time ago) did indeed complain that the Wraith could go invisible and that the Nurse could blink, and demanded that those powers be replaced with something else.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh, I gotcha
I thought you were saying people complained AND BHVR listened and implemented it. That was my bad :D

Funny thing about the Wraith and Nurse complaints you mentioned as absurd hypothetical scenarios: they actually happened.
...I just started DBD at the beginning of this year and I feel like there's a story behind this :D
If you don't have the time/desire to tell said story, I'd understand but I would love to know what happened. What the heck did Wraith/Nurse do if they couldn't go invisible/blink?
-
So of his saw can no longer one shot people, what is his strength?
Because right now, that's literally his power. You might as well argue that Wraith shouldn't be allowed to go invisible, Trapper no longer is allowed to use traps, Nurse can no longer Blink, etc etc
-
I doubt very many people are going to blame you for DCing in that situation (though at that point it seems more like you're just cutting your nose to spite your face as you were in the process of being killed and now you get to sit there for five minutes with the penalty).
It's just a shame you didn't get video because a whole lot of nothing is going to happen to them for what they did. So hopefully next time they do it, you (or whoever they are doing it to) will remember to get some video proof to submit to BHVR.

Cypress Mori is to kill last survivor, there's no other survivors in the game.
Oh I didn't read close enough evidently but the DS part is still true
I wouldn't care all that much if it were Cypress Mori but I also don't care enough to fight for it either (I don't use DS so it would never benefit me but I could understand why someone would still not this being basekit).
-
Because you can still save a survivor before they get their last Death Hook
You can use Sabotage/Tool Box to cut the killer off or you can body block the killer and try to kill enough time for the survivor to get away. A survivor might still have a perk like DS on the board that could let them get away.
Not to mention the killer sacrificing a survivor still does the remaining three survivors a solid by taking a hook out of play.
None of these things are super likely to matter in the grand scheme of the match but letting the killer just mori anyone at the end has negative effects.
-
OK, cool beans. If it's an everyone problem, that means I don't need to do anything to fix it (since presumably it is on the forum-side, not my side).
Thanks!
-
Well right now there are a few challenges specifically calling for it (and then others calling for Kate so they might be using it just with her in general) so it's not abnormal that you're seeing it more often.
I use it with my Kate. I haven't really unlocked it with many others so I'm not sure I'll use it once I have it unlocked or not but I've really liked it. Very useful since when I'm the killer, I know if you make a turn quickly after a vault I need those scratch marks to keep track of the survivor. I will likely at least try to fit it in when I start unlocking it with others.
-
In that particular situation, it's two survivors trying to play chicken with one another. Survivor A is hoping Survivor B gets bored and tries to do an objective so that you kill them while Survivor B is doing the same to Survivor A. That way the not-dead one can jump the Hatch
-
Someone just threw out the same idea a few days ago so I'm just gonna copy/paste what I said then...
From what I've heard from others (i haven't been playing for that long so I'm taking their word for it), back in the day they used to have a punishment for campers (sounds like the timer would either stop or slow down immensely when the killer was within X meters from the hooked). Survivors just abused the hell out of it and essentially would just constantly loop around the hooked area. For your solution, you just need to loop around the area long enough for the auto-blind to kick in and now the killer just got punished for having the audacity to be where the non-hooked survivors are.
Even if you say "Well if they are in a chase, the mechanic doesn't work" but then you have survivors just hiding in the hooked area (so the killer knows you're in the area but since they are not "actively" chasing you because you're hiding, they now can't look for you because you're using the hooked person as a human shield).
That to me is always going to be the biggest issue with punishing camping. There are times when either camping IS the best play (like EGC is active with the gates being opened and none of the other survivors are injured so you won't be able to down anyone if you go after them) or survivors will use abuse the mechanic.
-
I lobby dodge every lobby!
Boom, now I can't lose
#CheckMateSurvivors
-
I love playing as Leatherface but everyone in this thread outside the OP says he sucks :'(
-
I certainly wouldn't say no to it but by the end of the game, I've either killed everyone, got super depressed facing off against a SWAT Team, or usually something inbetween.
Knowing that they were ACTUALLY a SWF at the end doesn't really matter to me. Game's Over and knowing I faced SWF doesn't change that.
-
I have found that when someone Facecamps, they usually get maybe one kill,
I don't even give them credit for the one sure kill because so many Facecampers get happy feet at the end of the sacrifice phase and lets the three survivors use swarm tactics distract them long enough to let someone sneak in and get the unhooking...
It absolutely sucks for the Facecamped so I make sure to send them a "Thank you" message if they bite the bullet and take one for the team by sticking around the entire time.
