  • I mean...have you considered that maybe you're just not a good enough killer to hit the top ranks?

I'm not even trying to have a go at you here but clearly plenty of people do it so it can't be impossible. There are definitely SWAT SWF Teams that are virtually impossible to win against but those are the exceptions, not the rule.

  • I had that happen too. Same hook and everything.

I figured it was just a one time hiccup for me but that hook is out of the way enough that I never got the opportunity to test it again.

  • Killer easily

The Survivor challenges generally require other people's participation to do where killer challenges are just on you.

I finished the Killer side way before the survivor side as I've basically just been stuck on "stun killer with pallet" for days now. I have to get the killer to chase me, find pallets, get in a situation where I can drop it on the killer, hope the killer doesn't stutter step to dodge it; not even accounting for X factors like pallets already being used up and placements on the map...

And there are multiple survivor challenges of that nature where you have only some control when doing the challenges.

  • It is kind of sad that everytime I hear my Xbox Ping noise, I just assume it's the opponent wanting to whine that I did something against the mystery rules or they are messaging me to be a jerk.

Although lately like...half have been good messages where normally it's like a 90/10 split. I'm not sure why but I'll take it. I've been sending more nice messages to people with how crappy Covid is making it for people so maybe others are doing the same?

  • Because some people are ######### who can only have fun at the expense of other people.

  • I can't know if you did this but I have seen plenty of killers who literally camp gens and never move from them.

Survivor comes, killer might chase a few feet but will instantly break off without going for the kill or hit just to go back to sitting on top of the gens.

Hell, I'd concede that it might be the smart play but 30 minutes into a game where the killer refused to actually try to win and just attempts to bore the survivors into giving up is not fun.

  • MM is kind of brutal right now for new players unfortunately. Not much you can do about it for now except wait it out and try to learn a thing or two from the higher ranked opponents.

  • I can't say for sure since I've never disconnected but (usually) people doing sabo/flashlight saves are really good at it and make the job of a killer damn near impossible if it's a SWAT SWF Team (sabo/flashlight saves being very common for them as it generally takes coordination and communication between survivors to really sabo/flashlight save well).

Whether it was actually the case or not, the killer probably assumed you were a SWAT SWF Team and didn't feel like dealing with the headaches that entails.

  • I for one don't get joy in being an ######### to people. Some people do but I am not one of them.

  • It's not toxic in the sense that you're doing something wrong but I can see a killer getting frustrated if you kept doing it and deciding to take the hit to their game to take you out. Especially if by the time they do manage to catch you, the game is getting to the end.

  • I don't think anyone would ever argue that rank is the End All Be All but it does matter. I can with pretty good accuracy as a red survivor guess when the killer I'm going up against is a green/yellow killer.

There are always going to be exceptions to that and you'll get Reds who play like they've never played DBD in their life and Greens/Yellows who will dominate but overall rank is a good indication for the skill level you're going to be up against.

It's not. I have talked about this so many godd*mn times my man it is not.

The word "farming" is used very loosely and thrown around a bunch, farming for BP is not bannable have you ever heard of anyone being banned because a lobby of 5 people all willingly participated in behavior that could be considered farming? Because news flash: if 5 people who are all randoms working together in a lobby willingly, who the hell is going to report them?

"Oh, well I guess I hadn't thought about it that way before-" OFCOURSEYOUHAVEN'T.

    Bruh!!!!

    *Deep inhale*

Now, if we're talking farming as in griefing, yes that is a bannable offense. But that needs to be specified because again, farming is a very loose term however, op specifically singled out "bloodpoints" meaning he is not talking about the actual bannable form. Griefing can mean a lot of things, it can mean holding the game hostage like a killer pinning a survivor in a corner and not letting them go, it can also mean survivors working with the killer to reveal their location get them hooked, unhook them right away for the killer to down immediately and hook again. Both of those examples are very clearly malicious and predatory practices.

However, Bloodpoint farming is entirely harmless because it requires the joint of effort multiple survivors and the killer, it can be done with a single one from either side but it is extremely inefficient this way.

Except I did think about the difference in farming (Which to be fair to you, it looks like you didn't see that as the quote of mine is missing my edit so presumably you were writing your post after I put in my thing).

So yes, you are correct and I apologize for the confusion that there is a difference between Bloodpoint Farming (which looks to be what this fella did) and "Grief Farming" as you put it (that one being the not allowed version).

  • @Seiko300 said:

Farming is not against the rules, it never has been and it never will be.

I don't know how long you've played this game but I mean my speculating purely off the fact you've only got 2 posts on the forums and that you bring up such an old and already discussed topic, now, is not long at all. Although your name is "P3Nea" so maybe I'm completely off base ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I kinda doubt it though.

If you have played this game for any significant amount of time however, you would know two things: 1 the game itself can inevitably become really intense, frustrating, and generally demoralizing and more problematically 2. grind for BP especially considering the constant flow of new content in the form of perks, add-ons, offerings, new killers and survivors to main or P3, etc. is incredibly steep.

In this way farming addresses those same two issues:

-Farming allows people to take a breather, sort of relax, mess around and just chill out with 4 other dead by daylight players doing the same thing. This kind of an intermission match can do a lot of good for people even if players don't realize at the time they're starting to get sore, tense, or increasingly frustrated

-Maximizes the bloodpoint gain between everybody in the lobby especially if BP bonus offerings like bloody party streamers are being used or even better stacked

So it's not against the rules because it actually does a lot of good for plenty in the community, but it's also not against against the rules because it would be incredibly difficult to enforce. People want to farm because both parties benefit from it, what are you gonna do to stop entire lobbies of equally minded people from playing the game that they paid for how they want to? Not to mention you're essentially suggesting to ban the one activity that brings both sides, killers and survivors, together. I don't want to sound all Kumbaya but for a community that's extremely divided & constantly and eternally at each others throats for the past three almost four years is a genuinely good and welcome sight to see.

And believe me when I say farming matches aren't all that common, people who own the game much like you want to play the game that's nothing new. 9/10 of your matches will be normal matches because of this, and what you're saying you can't stand the one match that isn't? You're gonna get angry and lash out at the 4 other people or 80% of your lobby who decides to farm on the rare occasion? If anything, all that's gonna do is disappoint and incite anger from you're teammates in the game or in post-game chat and I know this because I've seen it before. The beauty of three survivors and the killer all uniting to hate on the one obnoxious guy who is a debbie downer and ruins the party for everybody ending a farming match earlier than it should saying "ThAt'S nOt HoW yOu PlAy ThE GaMe!!!"

Which, if that hasn't happened to you by now, I guarantee it will eventually in the future at some point.

So here's my suggestion, and really it's less of a suggestion and more of a universal truth because if you don't accept it you're only making things harder and more frustrating for yourself than they need to be. Change perspective, enjoy the every now and then odd farming match, and be grateful for the bloodpoints and potential bonus BP offerings people throw out for everybody to benefit from. People like farming and you can't change that, so if you can't beat 'em join 'em. Knowingly and actively choosing not to is only swimming upstream and going against the current, which is not worth all the hissy fit when it's only 1 match out of 10, which obviously is not a real statistic, however the point it is supposed to illustrate still stands it is most definitely not the majority of your matches.

(although these odds are likely to increase slightly when a double BP event goes live, but those don't happen every day and you have the rest of the year where there is no event to enjoy the game as per normal.)

Farming is against the rules and bannable if not everyone in the game wishes to farm. I'm not sure why you would think it's allowed as it's always been against the rules of the game...

Edit: Watching the video, everyone in there seem to be on board with the farming, which to my knowledge at least is when it makes farming ok (or maybe a situation where it's "technically" still against the rules but no one is gonna snitch on themselves for farming).

  • Probably kill them both and let The Entity sort it out :D

Without the explanation from the waving survivor, I'd have actually assumed THEY were being the jerk. Then I'd feel a little bad when I got the explanation message...

Unless of course I got the message prior (like I've been running around a few minutes and actually checked my messages midgame), then I'd likely let the waving survivor bounce while I murdered the hidey survivor.

  • It's the crappy thing about survivor and the emblem system because a lot of it is out of your control.

Getting tunneled? Your objectives, altruism, and (maybe) survival are toast.

Being ignored? Your boldness is taking a hit.

No one getting hooked/hit? Bye bye altruism.

To get points in all categories as a survivor, your hopes are pinned on a killer who is good (but not TOO good) and that they show sportsmanship (don't just tunnel one guy into the ground). As a killer, you doing your killer thing will by default get you points in all 4 categories.

  • MM has been borked for a few weeks now. Not much you can do about it except try to learn from playing high ranked survivors and wait out the fix they've said they're working on

  • Imagine having that much free time that you go into games with the specific intent of wasting everyone's time and not playing the game...

  • @Boss said:

    Readying up.

    Also this!

It takes multiple minutes to find a game usually. There's no reason for you to not have your perks, offerings, items, etc ready to go when a game opens up.

I know it's just a minute but still, let's get this show on the road people!!!

  • Send nice messages to each other. With the goofy MM, I've been trying to send more encouraging messages to people (Xbox so no postgame chat).

  • The game has a brutal learning curve and right now, Matchmaking is all kinds of broken so it's exasperating the learning curve from difficult to downright Hell.

It can be a fun game once you really learn how to deal with stupid good players (and learn to just let go that sometimes you're gonna get curb stomped by the occasional SWAT SWF Team no matter how good you are) but it takes a lot of time and effort to do so.

  • I'm fine with paying for it. Especially since if you play it often enough, the Battle Pass will pay for the next one. I easily had it pay for itself with a handful of games per night and I didn't even have all of the characters for the 2nd one unlocked so a lot of the challenges in it I couldn't even do.

  • I won't even play as a Survivor until I have Kindred unlocked.

I've never used Dwight before so with the Challenges being him, I'll likely end up seeing what Bond is like and if that's something I want to keep. It sounds pretty useful to me.

  • I ANGRILY DISAGREE!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!11!!!

  • Every message I send is a nice message

Either that or an apology cause I done ######### up somehow and got someone killed :D

    But always nice!

  • I'm not sure what the devs could do about it. Jerks are gonna jerk. You can report if they are going over the line but if someone is just calling you a tunneling noob killer, I'm not sure that something that should be punished...

All you can do as a user is either shrug it off or take steps to stop messages (turn off post game chat if you're on PC, block messages from people who are not friends on Xbox/PS4, etc).

It absolutely sucks because you shouldn't have to put up with garbage people being garbage but as long as garbage people are playing, they're gonna be garbage people and you just have to either get used to the smell or take steps to prevent the garbage from being able to stink up the place.

  • Oh

Then yeah, I'm on team WHY now :D

That's a baffling play if there are 5 gens left. You're much better off getting all 4 survivors up and running if it's that early than the benefits you get from doing a 1/4 of a gen or so waiting for you to get close to the Struggle Phase.

If the killer isnt camping or checking thats not the worst decision gives you some gen progress then save the survivor when they are about to go into second state.

    ^This

Especially if this is the last generator. If it is not, I understand more of the frustration (since the killer might come back) or the frustration that they could heal you and you could be helping them with the generator. But if this is the last generator, this is one of the smarter (though ruthless) plays you can do as the killer is very unlikely to expect that gen being repaired with the survivor hanging next to it.

Honestly, this screenshot alone doesn't give enough information to tell if this was a good play, a bad play, or what.

  • Yeah, matchmaking has been...rough to say the least lately.

As a Killer, I keep getting put in against teams of barely sentient potatoes that managed to turn a video game system on and start a game of DBD. As frustrating as getting a SWAT SWF Team to go against, it isn't exactly fun to have a group of survivors clearly have no idea what they're doing to play against either. I have had so many games lately where I just absolutely slaughter the survivors with no real effort on my part. It's gotten to the point where I am pretty routinely smacking survivors and then breaking off the chase myself just to give them a chance to not get murdered.

As a solo survivor, it's amazing to be on those teams now and wonder "Wow...was I really THIS bad at some point?". On the plus side sometimes it isn't so bad for me as I also seem to be put with new killers too and can (relatively) easily dodge and juke them. As long as I can manage to not get myself caught, my potato teammates are usually not a big deal for me but you are super fuqed if the killer does manage to catch you as the potato is the most timid and afraid creature and will come nowhere near the hook if there is a possible chance that the killer might at some point be within 500 meters of the hook you are stuck on...

  • @Entity_Hugs said:

Sorry. I'd rather get a softban for my PC freezing, and know that real DCers are being punished, then deal with everyone DCing at will.

Look at these forums; people will DC if you play 60%% of the Killers (Killers aren't allowed to play anyone even slightly good). Or run any ONE of 10 good perks (only Survivors are allowed good perks). Or if they get a certain maps, as in more than one map can cause DCs. Or if you down them too fast...

If there was no DC penalty, people would leave the game for good because they'd have 1 good match out of 10. The other 9 would have someone disconnect, then someone ELSE because now it's harder to win, then the third person because now it's impossible to win, then the FOURTH because why not?

So sorry; DC penalties are needed. If people get hit with a false positive sometimes, that's just too bad. The game would fall apart if people could DC at will.

    All of this

It does suck that there are plenty of people who have issues with the game crashing and/or bugs, which sucks that they're getting punished for something completely out of their control but I've found the DC rate to have been drastically cut down from what it used to be.

  • I can't speak for everyone but it's only stressful and unenjoyable against the SWAT SWF Team

Games against normal SWF Teams or a bunch of solos is super fun (usually)

  • Really the only issue is that most of it is out of your control (where killer is opposite and is completely in their control).

If no one is getting hit or hooked, your altruism is dead. If you aren't getting chased, your boldness takes a hit (not dead since you can at least do bones for some points). Not much you can do with Survival or Objectives if the killer is laser focused on you for some reason.

  • I always have Kindred and Self Care (Booooo! Hisssssss!!!) always when solo. Kindred because the info you get from it is critical for a solo player to make good decisions and Self Care because it's too damn unreliable hoping to get a good team that actually somewhat works together instead of unhooking you and ditching you the second the slight wiff that maybe the killer is considering walking in your general direction at some point.

I'll mix my remaining two slots pending what I'm feeling. Sometimes Saboteur, sometimes Resilience, sometimes that one that let's you heal at double speed when you unhook someone, sometimes that one that let's me see injured survivors; primarily depends on what offering I'm tossing out.

  • @MadArtillery said:

Pray the killer goes for the idiot and that the killer only slugs me. I'll crawl my ass to the other side of the map if possible.

This except I will be verbally cursing out the guy who unhooked me. I know they can't actually hear me but I like to imagine they can FEEL my cursing them out...

  • I would love for it to happen

You could just have a "give in" option if for some reason it is more advantageous to go down (People probably gonna use it to suicide instead but I don't like having no option at all to not die on the hook at your leisure).

I'm not gonna hold my breath but it would be nice.

  • I bring a mori if I suspect it's going to be a SWAT Team SWF group. I won't actually use it unless they demonstrate that they are a SWAT Team SWF group though.

  • I do hope it gets fixed soon. There are enough bad players in Red as it is, let alone being the only red with yellows/greens.

It is kind of neat seeing some of them play and thinking "Damn...I can't believe I was that bad at some point".

Some of them are clearly timid as mice when it comes to unhooking. Some have their gens fire off constantly like the 4th of July from missed checks. Some have about 5 seconds worth of chase before getting unceremoniously cut down..

It's not so bad if I can be sneaky ninja survivor since then I don't have to rely on them to save me but man is it hard to sit on that hook and watch three auras just hide in the corner cause the killer is within 600 meters of the hook...

  • T-1000 has nothing on me if a survivor is being a toxic butthole. I will make it my sole mission to take that person down and gleefully stare them dead in the eyes as they flail around on the hooks. The other three mean nothing to me and are free to leave for I only have eyes for you toxic survivor...

My favorite part is if they send me a post game message whining about it. You wanted my attention survivor, you got it. You can't keep pulling the cat's tail and then whine when you get scratched.

    in Toxic Comment by tippy2k2
  • I started only a few months ago and I'm having oodles of fun

  • What did I do? 😭

  • I said it in another thread but these things get buried so quickly that I'm just gonna repeat it...

The issue is there are two kinds of SWF groups

    1. The group of friends who want to play together
    2. The SWAT Team

Group 1 is great to play with. They're fun; they get to have a good time with their friends while I as the killer get to go through my normal Killer Duties and stab people

Group 2 is the problem. While this may be anecdotal evidence, I have found that the SWAT Team is usually not only damn impossible to beat since they are in constant communication with each other but they're always the biggest toxic ######### to play again. If there is a cheap tactic, they'll use it and if they get any chance at all to mock the killer, they will 1000% take it.

The biggest issue that Group 2 causes though is that these are the groups killers remember and these are the groups that make killers quit the game because they're not only frustrating to play from a game-play standpoint, they always seem to make sure to rub it in your face and make the experience as awful as humanly possible.

The problem is that I don't know how you could solve Group 2 without directly hurting Group 1. If Group 1 starts getting hammered and frustrated by nerfs, they're gonna quit and now you just lost four players from your player pool. If you just ignore Group 2 though, Killers are eventually just going to say "F*#$ this S$1* I'm out" and now no one has anyone to play against as your Killer pool Yeets out.

I do not envy the position that the DBD team is in here

  • Never

It's boring as a survivor to have it happen so I'm not going to do it when I'm the killer. If I know where the hatch is, awesome, I'll wander over to close it now. If I don't and the survivor finds it first, so be it.

Unless I take the person down and I can literally see the 4th survivor, I'm not going to slug

  • I had a Green Survivor in my game. They were really bad :D

I even slugged them for the third hook and left them alone to go find three other people since she was really bad but I swear that Green Lady had a magnet in their body that was drawn to my blade cause they just kept running into me.

I've also found myself as a survivor getting stuck on really bad teams with Greens but that's always a risk when ya play Solo so I can only complain so much.

I do hope whatever is throwing matchmaking off so badly gets fixed soon. That would be super.

  • I don't

If they need to mock a stranger in order to have fun, that's on them, not on me. I delete it and move on with my life.

  • I rarely say GG to people as I'm always a little worried they'll see it as sarcastic (or evidently as seen in this thread, I guess some people see it as Git Gud).

If I get messaged GG, I'll GG back but if I'm going to send a message, it's actually usually to someone who played exceptionally well (a Bill I was chasing was damn good at chases and I felt bad because he ended up getting killed in the end from the one hook because his potato team either died or in the last person's case, just abandoned him so I messaged him that he was damn good at chases and didn't deserve the end he got) or if there is a killer who is clearly struggling (I messaged a Nurse player yesterday and just said "GG, Nurse is a tough one to play as"; try to give them a little encouragement) or does something really good. I've also messaged survivors that went above and beyond on my team to save me (or if I royally ######### up and got them killed for it).

I don't send messages often since it is kind of a pain on the Xbox to send something but if I send a message, I am always specific in my message to give them encouragement or a compliment.

  • I'm having no issues with Solo. Or at least no issues that aren't the normal issues of being Solo...

  • NEVER!!!

I never lose because of my own mistakes! I lose because [Insert Thing That I Don't Like]!!! It's never my fault, the [Insert Opponent] is cheating!!!

  • As a Killer and as a Survivor, I prefer Hiding over Looping

Looping just feels so against the spirit of a horror serial killer game. I want to play a Slasher Film, not Scooby Doo.

  • I'm struggling badly

I'm so used to having killers who can walk faster than a turtle with two broken legs

My biggest issue is survivors who know this and then do those tiny baby loops that fail badly against a normal killer but are perfect against Huntress. You either take a year to catch up to them (only to have them slam the pallet down and start a new cycle at a different baby loop) or you abandon them and hope the next time you find them, they're not right next to another God damn baby loop...

I'm hoping it'll just take getting used to. I generally shy away from her for this very reason but The Rift I suppose gives me the excuse I need to try to get better with her.

  • I generally just leave them alone. If they want to waste time teabagging like a bunch of clowns, go for it. I'm gonna go find me some a pallet that I missed destroying or see if any of those idiots come out to try to mock me. I'm not going to give them free points by putting them in a "chase" that they can just abandon before I get my hit in.

1 … 90 91 92 93 94 … 97
