And both of these types of players make up a very small fraction of the entire playerbase. I doubt they look deeply at stats for either of those two groups, and we all know they don't balance around them and won't.
All their efforts go towards the newbies and the vast bulk of the players, those who haven't played for a thousand hours or more yet. We need to remember that.
Well I'm not talking strictly 1% of players...high MMR games dont have to be tournament style sweaty games. We're not in that realm of sweat here. You can be in high MMR and not play tournament ready players. They just have to a good SWF team with meta perks, which most SWF teams have.
The issue is whether those SWF teams are playing to win or just having fun and messing around with the killer or farming points. The data from those games should be irrelevant but I'm sure they are included in that 15%

Actually, 100 games is statistically significant. It works the same way polling and scientific studies do. You don't need every single game, or even a large percentage of games data to be able to get a relatively accurate view of data.
For example, America has a population of 329 million, while polling sample sizes are only 500 to 1,000. Sample size does not need to be massive to get statistical data from.
It all depends on the data that was recorded and how relevant that data is to the subject. For example if the OP believes hes in high MMR games then it makes perfect sense -- he recorded 100 high MMR games and these are the stats we see.
If hes not in high MMR games, which he almost exclusively confirms (by saying hes an average killer at best) then he just recorded 100 games of stats that are irrelevant to the subject
-
Some people are just not in high MMR games but think they are and so that skews the data.

It's tough, because that same exercise can apply to killer too. Yes, an actual full meta sweat squad of top end players is going to win 49 out of 50. An actual top end killer with full meta is going to do the same.
Those things are hard to account for and it's hard to sort through all the noise when all play styles are in the same queue. Top end meta vs top end meta is going to be closer to a 50/50 depending on the killer choice/map
Top end killers with full meta are not going to get 4k against sweaty SWF teams. You will not have a 3 gen to play off of for starters.
-
Its realistically much higher than 15%, but the stats are showing marginal increase because not every SWF is out to win or even focused on escaping even without their team. Theres no way stats can show only sweaty SWF teams and compare to the average solo queue experience.
Either way 15% is way too low to be an accurate statistic. It doesnt even begin to represent the # of teams that strictly play to win -- i.e slamming gens, copy and paste meta builds, will let someone die on hook just to leave.
If they could miraculously pull statistics from those SWF teams and compare them to solo queue experience, it would show much higher than 15%. So either they're cherry picking data or it's a conglomerate of every SWF game they've ever had data on.

Well he actually wins games so his MMR goes up. People like you claim to lose every game but still think you are high MMR?
Lmfao, I don’t think you understand how MMR works
What.... perhaps you could take a minute to understand why he would be winning more of his games? What do you think it takes to get to high MMR in the first place?
You think he's already at high MMR...?
-
They should definitely just tell everyone what this bug is... so we would know whether or not it's fixed.
-
And here I was thinking they would most likely solve the survivor queue problem with AI killers

Who is this "you" that you speak of? Who are these people labelling everything as offensive? Where is this occuring? Am I missing an influx of threads about how "everything" is offensive and needs removed?
This conversation was about the specific LF masks. They're the only thing that's being removed here.
Everything isnt offensive, but that's the point. Bubbas masks were by all accounts an extension of his lore. They were not designed to be used as tools for racism. People are using in game content as tools for racism so we decided to remove in game content. Mandy already said racism is unstoppable. Yet we're removing content... does anyone see the problem? No? I kind of figured...

The reasoning behind racist players picking the cosmetic is pretty self-explanatory IMO.
Honestly we can disagree about how the situation was handled by BHVR but denying that is just disingenuous.
Sure, regardless of how it's being used it is still an issue. That is the point we're trying to make here. It is still an issue because the major problem still exists. The masks are gone, fine. Leave the masks. They'll never come back.
Where did the racists go? Did they just up and leave the game now that all of Bubbas masks are gone?

Then play killer, it takes more skill than survivor, but not every loss is because the game is built to make killer lose lol if you aren't having fun but aren't willing to try and improve then feel free to stay survivor.
I can tell just by your demeanor that you dont play high MMR killer games... cant wait to hear your answer for how you improve your gameplay when survivors consistently pop 3 gens in the first chase. Regardless of what non-meta killer you play.

You're missing the key part of this whole ordeal, in which the SF cosmetic bore a resemblance to blackface. That is why it was used offensively and is being removed.
Other in-game cosmetics DON'T share this link and so have ZERO reason to be removed. What you're suggesting is nonsensical.
What "vague offensive connection" are they going to make from Neon Legion, Santa Clown, Elf Dwight etc. that could possibly warrant their removal?
It was removed because it was a tool used for racism. Not because it resembled blackface.
Mandy said that. Also said that racist behavior is impossible to stop. But let's remove in game content anyway, you know?

The definition for "casual connectiong" is much more rigorous if you conducting data analysis for a research paper compared to using it in debate and I'm pretty sure you know this. Also, I will point out that you selected a blog of a professor who is specifically talking about research papers, for a college level class. This is pretty disingenuous, don't you think. You didn't choose a definition from a dictionary or a source specifically speaking about fallacies and debate.
Here a definition from a dictionary
If there is a causal connection between two things, one thing is responsible for causing the other.
---
But again, I'll point you to this college website I pointed out before that is specifically talking about a causal connection in context to slippery slope arguments.
---
There are a variety of ways to turn a slippery slope fallacy into a valid (or at least plausible) argument. All you need to do is provide some reason why the adoption of one policy will lead to the adoption of another.
Again quoted from Logical Fallacies and the Art of Debate (csun.edu)
Like the fact that racism doesnt stop at the drop of a mask -- more specifically removing in game content. Especially when Mandy has already said, in her own words, that racial behavior is impossible to stop. So they even recognize that removing the masks will likely do nothing against racism.

Yeah looks like it's going to be a long while before we see survivor changes. Queue times for survivors would have to reach 30+ minutes before someone begins to realize there might be a problem worth pursuing.
And then they'll still nerf Twins players again

As mentioned in another thread, this is referred to as the "slippery slope fallacy."
I just have to laugh to myself every time I read this... it reminds me of a time when someone learns a new word -- they have no clue how to use it, what context it applies to, or even cared to learn all they could about it. They just really liked saying that word.

"BT is already a get out of jail card with no activation requirements" BT isnt a get out of jail card with no requirement, it's a "punish the (proxy)-camping killer" perk.
"DS ensures that every survivor who does get hooked has a decent chance of not being hooked again...for an entire minute at T3." False, only if you tunnel them, or if they dont progress the game. In one case, you get punished for tunneling, in the second case, the teammates buy 5 seconds of time by being useless to the team for 60 seconds(or bait you into chasing them, either case, it's healthy).
"even after 3 gens have popped, and hope for the best"
The game is balanced towards the killer not being able to protect all gens. 3 gens being lost without you being able to protect them too much, is pretty much done by design. The final 2 generators is when the patrol area of the killer is minimized and their power most useful. Which is why between 2-1 gens, you tend to get 3x as many hooks as you do from 5-2 gens. The generator counter is the survivors' counter to open exit gates, not a timelimit for you to kill survivors. You can kill all 4 survivors before the first gen is popped, or after the last gen has popped. In both cases, you gained 4 kills. Your frustration at generators being done early quite quickly is self-induced.
How to get over that bias? Grab a spreadsheet, keep track of your results. You would need to see your match history to get over that generator bias.
Not going to slog through a spreadsheet playing at high MMR just to tell you what I already know. Theres a reason people are not enjoying killer right now and theres a reason why survivor queues are getting longer.
But hey, at least they're nerfing killers now... right?
Right?

@Predated said:

Except that 4x DS and BT dont really affect your fun as a killer unless you're tunneling. There are some exceptions, but those arent the rule. It's like saying seeing Pop and Ruin too often is affecting the fun, when in reality, its the exceptions where those perks are unfun to face.
BT and DS certainly affect the game, even more so if it's on every survivor. BT is already a get out of jail card with no activation requirements. A free perk if you will. Unhook a survivor and they will almost likely live. Then multiply that x4 and every survivor will have a decent chance of living after the first hook...
and then DS ensures that every survivor who does get hooked has a decent chance of not being hooked again...for an entire minute at T3. Multiply that by 4 because you cant hook 4 survivors at once... 4 minutes total game time where a survivor could not be hooked, but that's only if you want to wait out the timer.
So as a killer in high MMR you're forced to find new survivors immediately, even after 3 gens have popped, and hope for the best
-
Here I am trying to figure this out on mobile
-
When the objective of the game is to do gens, and the win requirement is escaping, some people feel like it's only necessary for someone to die on hook. Everyone is essentially doing "their part" to help "win the game" and forget that maybe nobody's actually grabbing that player off the hook...

Bigotry finds a way

I agree. Report system does need work. Consoles and PC
-
In low-mid tier MMR it's mainly just a gimmick people use to upset each other. In high MMR some are saying it's a necessary crutch just to be able to pull out a 1-2K in some, if not most unwinnable games against really good SWF teams. SWF teams are just survivor friends who are on comms like TS or Discord if you need to know.
I agree though. It needs to be dealt with and gone permanently.

I think suffice it to say, even if the evidence supports it, they simply will not nerf Dead Hard. Or do any serious balancing against survivors for now. I'm guessing they have all eyes on killers... but the string of nerfs I keep hearing about are questionable at best. At least for higher MMR, survivors need to be under the knife... not killers
-
@Laluzi said:
God, this. It seems like even when you've got several chat logs of obvious evidence against a player, they might get banned a month from now if you're lucky. Meanwhile, if an abuse happens in-game and doesn't have corroborating chat evidence, the burden is on you to record this happening, visit their out-of-game support website, and submit a ticket corresponding to your report (you can't do one or the other, it has to be both), otherwise they won't do anything even if they do read the report. And if they do get to the report, it will again be after a huge time backlog and the abusive player will have been able to ruin hundreds of other games in that time.
It's a goddamn mess and it's frankly embarrassing that BHVR won't allocate any resources towards fixing this. It is an issue on so many levels.
I already forgot all about this... makes me think the in-game report system is just a skeleton disguised as a wizard blowing smoke instead of magic.
"If you really wanted them banned, you would come to us directly, not in-game"
-
End the game, close the chat..
Hell the way I see it, the in-game text chat is the #1 tool for racists

I'm just going to say I always thought it was such a stupid idea that you can't name shame people. That's the most effective way you can out certain people in a community.

I think it would have been more fair to remove them and make some new mask as an unlockable. Just one. Make it one from one of the movies or something. You have to pay money. That is the only aspect that bothers me.

You would think there were such tools in place, but sadly the reporting system that BHVR uses leaves a heck of a lot to be desired.
Maybe if they'd actually invested in a real reporting and punishment system in the first place, such things would be better handled and dealt with. As it stands, it's the path of least resistance with them as always: remove the cosmetics.
Yeah, delicious irony here... Mandy has already said that racial harassment is impossible to stop. So that answered my question.

We cannot answer what action has been taken against a player. That is between us and the player, it's not something that's ever discussed with 3rd parties.
And yes, stopping racial harassment is probably next to impossible but we are certainly not prepared to give people the tools to use - hence the removal of the masks.
Stopping racial harassment is impossible?
I did ask if we had tools in place to prevent racist behavior... I was talking about the report system that people rely on for behavior like this
-
I think I remember that tome challenge being bugged too. And unfortunately yes... I think you have to specifically get silver quality

As well as I know death wishing is perma bannable so if BHVR wants to fight with the hate speech they're really need to do something about it and start finally banning these people.
Well it already coincides with what I can only describe as Behavior's willing acceptance of all form of toxicity in game
