They could change the undetectable status effect to work like Freddys passive masking ability where if a killer is "undetectable" then you cannot see them at all past a certain range. Maybe like 25m maximum. That gives Survivors enough warning imo especially if they are being chased. Less chances of killers being called out while roaming and makes it easier to progress the game as a stealth killer.

Wow, quality troll. That will really fire people up.
No it's just been my experience with killers and playing to their strengths. I think it's entirely possible to rank up even without perks or addons because killers are simply that strong.
But why wouldnt they be? They need the potential to kill up to 4 players in a match by themselves. They're inherently strong for that reason. Survivors have nothing but items and their wits to fight killers with.
Over a long period of time, Survivors will learn more about killers than killers will about Survivors.
-
Killer is so easy to play it's really not that hard to rank up. So I'm not surprised at all that high rank survivors are better than killers. Theres less need to improve with killers because the game is so killer sided.
-
Wiki says Incapacitation only affects hooks, gens, items, totems and survivor interactions
-
You can counter pop+ruin with the same strategy. Spread out your gens in the early game and work together in the late game.
-
Theres a few ways to play Pinhead and one was semi popularized a bit later.
One way is to ignore the box and hope that you get value out of your chain hunts, which is a bit risky because survivors can just farm the box and wait for you to down someone before solving it.
Another way is for Pinhead to find his own box. This has a lot of advantages. When he finds his own box it will cause a "chain reaction" and all survivors will instantly scream and 3 chains will spawn near them. The scream is a loud noise notification so keep that in mind.
How you play around that is up to you. My recommendation for countering that is to play closer to Pinhead and look for the box yourself. The less chain reactions the Pinhead gets, the less value he has and will be another M1 killer. I typically just hold onto the box with these players because the longer I have it, the less chances they have to find it.
Good luck!

Punishing killers like that won't work, you gotta make more perks like BBQ to incentivize them to not do it
I dont think incentivizing and then leaving the choice up to the killer is the right way to go. It's better to simply make some things unappealing for killers than incentivize things they should already be doing

The fix to tunneling and camping is for people to stop A) Taking the game so seriously, and B) feeling entitled to a chance to escape.
It's a game. There's clear cut, black and white objectives for each side. Killers are supposed to kill survivors. Survivors are supposed to escape before that happens.
Placing nonsensical restrictions on either one of those is stupid, and based in entitlement.
Ah yes, the classic fix to any problem is to simply ignore it and be glad you're even playing the game. Do you play survivor very much?

You can't punish killers for doing their objective.
That's like saying "bloodpoint penalty for survivors working on more than one generator at a time". It doesn't compute.

I don't disagree, but that has nothing to do with this thread.

Still won't work. They already do that with camping and it doesn't stop some people from doing it. Honestly I don't think with the way the game is currently built that either of these can be stopped. Which again brings me back to the devs. They need to get off their asses and do something about it on their end. We as the players only have so much that we can on our end. But they literally make the game and they could put in an actual fix. But then that would require time and actual work to be put in. God forbid...
Sounds like some people don't have any desire to fix tunneling or camping in this game because what can fix something simply "doesn't work"
-
@Marik13 said:
Until they do something about to incentivize not doing it in the game then yeah, it's valid. Fact is the game needs a massive overhaul if they want to stop it. But until that happens, and the devs get off their asses and do something, unfortunately tunneling will always be a thing in the game.
What an easy fix, too... reduced bloodpoint penalty for chasing/hitting/hooking the same target

@freak_115 said:
So just going gen to gen to gen to gen then?
Basically yeah, but if you can't put pressure on the whole map then choose a rotation of gens that you're always going to check. Preferrably ones that are closer to each other, and there are ~5 that meet that criteria. Not every killer needs map pressure and it's OK to give up a couple gens to save the rest of the game

Okay but is that even possible then with killers who generally suffer from genrushing?
Cuz I know not all of the killers can put mappressure as much as a nurse/demongorgon or idk what else can.
You don't need map pressure just gen pressure.
-
If they're bringing 4 toolboxes then you need to apply more gen pressure... that means less chases and especially less time wasted looping survivors. If a survivor takes you through a good loop for even 15-20s then you've probably already lost against 4 toolboxes. Even worse if they all split up because it's harder to come back from that without ruin.

Wraith and Spirit are entirely different animals though, aside from their basic 'spoopy' theme.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2538438#Comment_2538438
It's always endearing when people quote fallacies without actually knowing what they mean.
An AFA fallacy only works if the authority being referred to has no commonly agreed upon expertise, or as a red herring. Of course, 'x expert sources say different' is a cogent response to a claim.
Otherwise, any linking or reference to any source would be 'an argument from authority'.
'I believe that elephants only live 20 years'.
'Well, here are several sources stating that the median age of an elephant is much longer'
'ARGUMENT FROM AUTHORITY'
Here, the appeal to a fallacy is, itself, fallacious. Because if we follow that line of logic, there is no such thing as an expert opinion on anything.
There's actually a name for this specific fallacy, but it escapes me now.
Wraith and Spirit are both M1 killers without their powers. Their powers cloak them from survivor sight until they go on the offensive. Spirit is only stronger than Wraith right now because she can attack out of her ethereal form quickly and nearly immediately. Wraith is worse than Spirit because he can still be seen when moving within 20m of a survivor.
If Spirit gets her cloak nerf then she will be pretty close to Wraith in terms of strength. So Spirit will be more predictable in cloak and also not be able to see survivors, where Wraith is also predictable but can clearly see everyone -- making the fight more fair for Wraith.
Also just want to point out that argument from authority is not the same as the majority argument. Either way, a player is not coming from a place of authority.

When everyone is telling you something, perhaps they aren't wrong?
A cursory look, and I can't find a single big name killer player who ranks Wraith as anything less than 'mediocre'.
Are you certain that this isn't just a personal dislike?
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2538397#Comment_2538397
Oh yeah, I run into this groups sometimes. It's astounding how BM survivors can be if you don't just let all 4 get away.
I think if they ever nerf Spirit to the level of Wraith then more people would play Wraith because there's no benefit...again as I mentioned earlier, when you compare Wraith to another killer who is better or does a much better job-- then Wraith can look like total garbage. He is not garbage at all, just not being played as a 'meta killer' right now.

Interesting. Every tier list I've seen has him squarely in the center.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2538315#Comment_2538315
I'll admit that I'm seeing this quite a lot as killer right now. Maybe 1/3 of the games has one survivor teabagging in front of a hooked person, AFK in a corner or running directly to me and then dying on hook.
Tier lists are always personal opinion and in comparison to another killer like Nurse or Huntress who outclass Wraith in precision. That doesn't mean Wraith wasn't tweaked a little too much.
-
Playing against Wraith because I don't know who decided this character needed to be the way he is right now. It's way easier to buff up a character who is weak than dial back one that is too strong... newbie killer or not he does not need to be that strong. Either remove his movement speed in cloak or remove the speed boost after uncloaking. No add-ons should change or re-add these features.

Did you mean
"Isn't the point of Wraith to catch people who are not in loops because he's totally useless in looping since that is entirely unavoidable for the outpositioned survivor who doesn't know how the window looks like? Especially since he gets a nerfed speed boost after uncloaking...why waste your speed boost in loops at all if you can run the whole trial like an idiot from gen to gen giving hits with 0 kills"
If he's not good at looping then you don't need to loop with that killer... not buff his kit so that he is stronger at what he already does

Reducing his lunge 20% means he won't be able to catch up in a lot of loops anymore. Do you seriously think he is too strong?

Exhaustion causes you to move slower and do slower actions for 10s at t3
-
I know I'm a lowbie killer because I'm not in red ranks yet but spies from the shadow is an excellent info tracker.
Bitter Murmur you say? Why guess where they are at all when you can get a direct notification from birds. Bitter Murmur is better for people who only hide in lockers and never sprint anywhere
-
Trapper for me. I like that you can setup a defensive spot but just the fact that they can disarm it with no repercussions makes him a pretty boring killer.

Welp I see why you would want a throwaway saying things like that. It is much much different. You dont hurt your team by running meta perks and even full meta build is more fun and fair than a key.
I made a throwaway because I was voicing my opinions about killers and how strong they are. If meta perks are fun and fair then keys are fun and fair because they are one and the same
-
It's no different than running any of the meta survivor perks, or even all of them. Anything you can do to live or get more points without dying

Killer rates are for the ENTIRE game's demographic. And guess what, there's a lot more newbies/bad players in DBD than good players.
Everyone and their grandmother knows killer is unplayable at mid to high MMR.
And yet the kill rates go up in red ranks...
-
Just look at kill rates for killers... and then make a serious argument about how the game is survivor sided

Oh this solution....NEXT
Complain all you want, it would work

Just make all of the killer's actions slower within range of the hook... someone told me that the developers already tried this but I feel like it was not the case. After 10s of a survivor being on hook the killer has a choice of walking away or playing a much slower game
-
From what I heard in the developer notes about it, the DLC will not be coming back. Grab it.

You don't get to play 8 games and decide you know more than the veterans. Facecamping is toxic. Standard camping is strategy. This game isn't balanced around hooking everyone 3 times
It doesn't take a century to see how the game works and why it's terrible for a game to work that way. I just hit rank 10 and again played 3 games in a row where the killer felt inclined to camp near the hooks to make it as beneficial as possible for themselves to win. You're telling me that you, as a survivor, not only play against these people but also enjoy it? Well I don't, and I imagine there are plenty of other people out there who feel the same way. As someone else said, they don't voice their opinions here because they get shut down "because that's just how the game works"
-
Made it to rank 15 on survivor and nothing has changed... I don't see how a survivor could possibly enjoy this aspect of the game. For anyone to be hooked so early on and tunneled until they are dead. I've seen killers deliberately wait at the hook after someone is rescued just to down the person again if it means they reach 2nd phase or die. When there are still 3-4 gens to do. Again sometimes very early camping at 5 gens.
So am I just delusional and everyone else is having a better survivor experience? People are saying it gets better or I should just learn how to play... I'm not understanding how that affects or changes the camping experience for anyone.
