Yup.
A lot of people complain that all the new killers are anti-loop.
Then you go and play Pig, Myers or Trapper and realize that even intermediate survivors are sophisticated enough to run you around a good loop for 45 seconds without dropping the pallet.
It's an annoying little arms race that can't end until a lot of maps are reworked - but with how loop dense the most recent map is, it seems that BHVR are basically just leaning into it.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2721773#Comment_2721773
I'd really hesitate to call Trapper 'anti loop'. His traps are so telegraphed that by the time you've set one up, the survivor is teabagging you from shack.
Probably just me but I like to preemptively trap near killer shack... plus the whole purpose of trapping a loop, ultimately, is to get them away from it. I like doing that too
-
I'm definitely OK with more fog. Killer or survivor. It will surely help stealth killers a ton.
-
I love playing Trickster, but not at high MMR...
Just going to say if you get caught in the open playing against Trickster then you deserve to at least lose a health state. Regardless of how you play out the rest of that encounter.
-
Just going to say this one time: do not buff solo queue survivors to the level of SWF. Even the dev remarks say they don't want to buff solo queue survivors, but are doing so...
Put more bluntly: most killers are unhappy with the game due to SWFs. Buffing solo queue survivors to SWF level means all killer will quit. That is the long and short of it.
Bring SWF down to solo queue survivor strength. They are already stronger with friends and comms. No more, no less. Then Killer will be enjoyable again.

You can get like a 6 sec heal with it with one other non-meta perk equipped, and a good medkit with good add ons. Botany knowledge+coh+emergency medkit with 30% buff from add ons is enough to make your heal around 6 seconds or so from last time I counted. You don't even need rare add ons for the medkit. Two specific yellows can be enough. So it's pretty strong using just one other largely weak perk, and bringing a medkit you'd use regardless of COH or not. I don't think meta perks are what make it srong.
Fine with me. Let them stack up their healing benefits... eventually it will go to waste because it only takes half a second to swing and hit someone. Theres no downtime for injuring someone.
The problem comes in when you have meta perks. DS and BT namely. Survivors have enough time in one way or another to run and hide. Killers may have to give up chase at that point, depending on the state of the match.
But take away any of those time savers and what good does COH really do... I'm just going to chase you all the way to that totem and kill you anyway because you wont heal in time.

Honestly man I don't know. In so many of my games I just can't keep anyone hurt. It has ruined so many killer perks and playstyles.
I was playing twins and I downed a Meg. By the time I tele back to Charlotte and walked the maybe 30 or 35 yards back she was already healed off the ground and gone.
Anyone I injure I feel like I have to chase and down, I can't hurt and hit someone else to put pressure on them bc they just heal so fast and so much.
So many people run COH in most of my games, and I just stopped snuffing totems unless I'm right next to it bc 100% of the time it gets relit. I'm not even exaggerating. Every single time I hear it relight.
Am I supposed to keep snuffing it out? Screw that. Killers have gens to patrol, survivors to chase we can't keep circling back to a totem all game.
I scratch my head when I hear people say it's not a big deal. Literally prevents perks and playstyles completely, and severely hurts the killer when they heal up so fast so often that it prevents you from downing them unless you commit to every single chase.
Twins suffer so bad from free heals. They'll destroy Victor and then heal immediately.
You don't need medkits anymore. And when you bring one, you heal even faster. Or someone else even faster which is what happened with my twins match.
When I downed Meg, someone with a medkit healed her off the floor so fast I couldn't even make it to her.
I cant be the only one who's having such a bad experience playing killer now. My matches went from 3 or 4ks to 1 maybe 2. If I can't keep them hurt, I can't get hooks and put any pressure on the gens .
I'm honestly thinking of stopping. I don't care about 4ks but free healing for all prevents me from even getting more than 6 hooks half the time.
I mean dude... last two matches I had 2 or 3 survivors were running this damn perk. Essentially the whole map was a free healing ground all match, and you can really feel it.
If a healthy survivor saves a survivor from a hook, I feel compelled to tunnel and eat the borrowed time bc you can't spread out injuries anymore. If I hit Meg she'll just immediately heal again after she speed boosts to a pallet, drops it, and heals immediately right behind it with her medkit
I see survivors with medkits healing mid chase it's so fast. They'll throw a pallet at a strong loop and immediately heal up lol. Like okay.... guess we'll just start the chase over again?
You can't counter this. It's so gross when you load into a match and see 3 or 4 COH perks. What the hell can you do? Lol
I think if you take away a lot of the meta perks it's super weak. Facing a whole team of meta slaves with a COH is a different story
-
Uh you can balance the game... you're not even punished for playing with your friends by doing so.
The way is as I mentioned to force some perks to be team oriented... meaning only one survivor in your group of players can have certain perks. That balances for high level play and avoids problems with solo queue players. Since the average player apparently doesnt run copy and paste builds anyway. It should be a privilege to avoid the natural flow of the game, not the norm. Not every high level game should end with all survivors alive, and neither should solo queue games.
Then after doing that we can nerf killers like Nurse Blight and Huntress... because they are way too strong and consistent for solo queue games.

I love this, you see a video from Otz, a very obvious killer and he's blasted in the comments for not going against good survivors or redundant info or something
Then you post a video from Tru3 where he loses 3 gens in the first couple of minutes but ends with a 4K and it'll be "the game is unbalanced" "survivors op" all over the comments
Y'all are odd sometimes.
It's not about a video, or even one instance of gameplay ... the level of play in those games are vastly different. When Otz can injure and down survivors before they even finish a single generator it speaks volumes against the level of players people are expecting to see
-
I was there to watch some of his stream during that time. I still can't bring myself to believe that hes facing survivors of any caliber worth playing against. As they say, you're not a good player simply because you use good perks.
From my memory I dont recall many meta SWFs or even gen rushing. You'll know when you get to high MMR because a lot of their builds will just be copy and paste... I can say for a fact there were a lot of random builds in his games. Almost every survivor had a different build setup.
Yeah I know someone else said they were waiting for it, but the truth is simply in the pudding. If it walks like a duck, and talks like one...
Also I recently watched TrueTalent for a bit. Regardless of his stature as a streamer, his games are, imo, much closer to the reality of higher MMR games. The ones where finding a survivor means losing 2 gens... the one player who openly admits not enjoying killer for that reason.
Somehow Otz has remained the golden child in all of this and we will never know why. You can't seriously tell me that the evidence supporting against him isnt enough to show maybe he actually doesnt play good players. Even less likely that he plays against an entire team of good players.
-
Well I already put my thoughts out there but no survivor is going to accept it...
DH, BT and DS are among some of the few perks that should be limited to one person on the team. So either one person has all 3 perks or 3 people can have one of each, if that makes sense.
-
At least Sony isn't willing to put up with verbal harassment... Behavior is another story

By that logic playing whilst having tennis balls shot in the face every ten seconds would also improve gameplay, but I'm not going to be rushing for a pitching machine.
That's a real stretch of "contributing to gameplay" or developing a strategy. <_>
Not sure why tennis balls would relate to memory processing and management... because one correlates with growth where the other does not

I don't think that has anything to do with my objection, which is that it doesn't really contribute to gameplay to start using memory tricks. Whether that be mnemonic devices or talking to yourself (which I'm not going to do because that's a bad thing to the time I play).
You could keep a running tally and jot them down. It does help and it does contribute to gameplay because you are using all of your senses available along with your memory to help you develop a strategy or strengthen your abilities as a player. Helps you rely less on visual stimulus and strengthens your mind...

I'm not sure adding mnemonic devices is really contributing much to the gameplay, that's all. It's just unnecessary withholding of information and probably leads to more unintentional mistaken-for-tunnelling than anything.
And you don't even need all that much weirdness to get two Dwights or two Claudettes or two Megs in a team or something.
Saying stuff out loud to yourself promotes memory functions ... the same way writing them down or repeating them several times would
-
@RainehDaze said:

Because the game doesn't have enough things to keep track of without memorising who's been downed how many times as well.
But sure, accidentally killing someone when BPS or whatever's been played really feels great. /s
I mean you could make a mental note of it and say it out loud before you hook them. So you could say "Ok this is Neas first hook" or "I've hooked Elodie twice now", etc.
-
It would promote more camping and tunneling when you can still keep a mental note of those survivors instead

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2719489#Comment_2719489
K so I was wrong about one perk, as for the rare bug you suggested, I've always hear myself on the ground but I wouldn't have trouble believing there to be such a bug. Either way it's still the killer that put the survivor in that position. You can claim it's not toxic or rude or whatever, but that player takes even longer than someone on the hook to die, meaning they could have been unable to play the game for minutes. There's also no proof if you couldn't find them that they weren't looking for hatch, if they were the last one left.
Yeah that's what I was getting at... unfortunate that this is the reality of it, really
-
They're not concerned about points or they wouldnt slug everyone to bleed them out. The only way to keep these players from doing so is to have Behavior utterly denounce players for doing this and allow you to report them. Not only that but they have to consistently ban players for doing so
-
Survivors having information is the bare minimum they need to.. well, survive together. The advantage they have is all in their perks
-
Spirit would probably be the most fun. Clown is fun too but in a different way. With all the talk of problems Twins players have I would just stay away from Twins unless it's the only killer you have left to try
-
I record their gameplay if I can, because I'm obligated to do so for proof, then report them and show evidence
-
2 gens popping isnt a major problem. You can come back from 2 gens without gen regression. Hopefully those 2 gens were not also part of a 3 gen because that's your ticket to success. So if you spawned on the opposite side of a 3 gen your chances are astronomically lower for getting a 3-4k.
The sweat of the sweats will instead spread out evenly across the map. Meaning 3 gens will pop in the scenario where you either found a survivor and hooked them, or are currently chasing them. This happens every single game at high MMR. First chase -> 2 gens -> down player, maybe 3rd gen pops here -> hook the player, 3rd gen pops here at the absolute latest.
If you're in a scenario where only 2 gens pop and maybe you've injured several people or hooked them then they were not what I would call high MMR players. Even watching Otzdarva streams I can see that. I can venture a guess as to how hes managed to stay away from the higher MMR sweat games but it's not pretty.
So, worst case scenario = 3 gens pop, what's next? Without gen regression I only see one viable option... a 3 gen scenario which you may or may not have. A survivor may already be coming to unhook the first player, and in fact most cases they are already nearby (because they were on one of the 2 gens that popped early)
What do you do?
This is all under the premise that each player has DH, BT and DS
-
Power struggle? Anyone?

For me:
- If someone has been mannered, I'll usually give them gate. Especially if they've been fun/played well and was let down by their team.
- If the other side has a DC and sticks the game out, I'll almost always give at least one person gate, sometimes two.
On the other hand, if even one player is BM, it's die time.
Pretty much guaranteed for me unless they did something throughout the game to annoy me. Very rarely do I get stuck with those people after a 3k though... 🤫
-
Some way to heal, or do gens, a way to cut chase, an aura of some kind (gens, killer, injured) and the last perk is pretty much random for me... sometimes I'll still put on small game or spine chill/premonition
-
Well if you're playing at this hour then yeah... not surprised at all 😄
Probably more newer people trying the game than there are veterans
-
I think they just put DBD for free on Epic Games recently so... they're probably being matched with you because they fit into a certain MMR bracket with the killer. Something like an average basically. So your MMR might be higher than the killer, but with lower MMR teammates it averages out to the killers MMR
-
All of this talk about how strong they are, but after you snuff them they have no use at all
-
Wraith should be even stronger against CoH... his chase potential is insane when he's cloaked. Just let them run off to heal, cloak and you're already there before they can finish or start healing. All depends on how you're trying to play Wraith.

"tbagging ... is not toxic"
Teabagging is the same as showing the middle finger to someone else. The gesture in itself isn't bad, but everyone knows what it means. It's an international known gesture in gaming. Show a cop the middle finger and explain that you just raised your finger. You will see what effects it has.
Nevertheless, I don't want teabagging to be banned because it isn't always meant to be toxic. But to say it is generally not toxic is inappropriate. Im sry, cuz I actually really like u @MandyTalk
T-bagging is whatever you make it to be... I've seen it used so many ways. Whether they use it to know you're there, or because they want you to chase them, or because they didn't know you were there, or just as a show because they were able to escape... it doesn't mean anything more than that. The rest is up to interpretation. If people start trash talking you after the game then of course they are a toxic player... but you'll never truly know unless they open their mouths to speak.
Don't immediately assume the worst of everyone because it's not healthy for you.

That's not even restricted to strong killers. Trapper, Trickster and Clown all have meme addons as well. They probably just forgot about it.
Edit: Huntress also didn't get one in her addon pass, which made me sadge.
Imagine a Huntress add-on where your hatches don't injure but just cause bleeding or something... Huntress mains would have a field day with that because it would create so many problems for Huntress

Any other game I've ever seen or played that has the mechanics or communication to be toxic to other players has always had some sort of repercussions if it was taken too far, not dead by daylight though where the player base is essentially coaxed into being toxic to each other in both roles. This is enabled and promoted by the developers by the lack of any punishments dealt to perpetrators of such behavior. I've never seen someone actually banned from violating the "rules," whether that being through toxic gameplay or hate speech. By the devs doing nothing against in the face of these issues they are announcing that it's acceptable behavior which further promotes it to run rampant throughout the community.
Solo que is nothing but killers griefing players who have no answers to it because of the lack of skill and game knowledge to mount a defense so they are completely taken advantage of as the killers intentionally queing up with this mindset get some sick sense of satisfaction that they are ruining these players games.
Then you have survivors who manage to acquire the skill to compete with killers having the option to be toxic themselves and get away with it, commonly seen in swf's who take full advantage of the survivor sided aspect of the game. Now you have killers that are at the mercy of survivors who through sheer numbers and coordination completely change the face of the game to their favor.
It's entirely common to see both roles speaking to each other disrespectfully in the post game chat as this is the only real outlet and sense of justice in the game when reports result in no actions taken. Why wouldn't players grief others when they can get away with it scott free?
I really don't know what goes on behind the scenes that motivates the devs to allow their game to remain in its current state but as a player it's very demoralizing to play and discouraging to even load up anymore. To que up I essentially have to go in with the attitude of expecting toxicity from either side and adjust my loadout and playstyle accordingly. I feel that this betrays the spirit of the game and is truly a tragedy for a game as fun and innovative as dbd.
Video games dont inherently promote toxic environments... a lot of gamers are simply toxic and have zero desire to change their attitude for anything
-
Killers should know after the first escape attempt that they dont need to hook or down them there. Survivors creating a psuedo safe space in one part of the map, which is likely just a corner, doesnt mean you cant eventually kill them. They are just drawing out the game more than anything
-
Whatever it is I'm sure it'll be something to do with wells. Like maybe she can use the wells for transport. Then it's a matter of what her abilities are...she'll probably be close mixup between Pig and Ghostface where the survivors have other objectives that aren't televised and that gives her opportunities to kill survivors in her own way like Mikey or using some power/perk like Ghostface

2 big ways you can play Billy. You either use your chainsaw for mobility and go for M1s with something like sloppy butcher, or use your chainsaw for instant downs.

6 snowmen total per match. Sometimes they spawn in really random spots like a random corner behind some bushes.

If no survivor is in them they respawn. If a survivor is in them when you hit them they don't respawn.
Ok I'm asking though because if that were true and they did respawn then why am I not seeing as many... or are there only ever 4 snowmen costumes in a match?

They respawn in 15 seconds if you hit them while they're empty. You're just wasting your valuable seconds early on, instead of later.
Do they really respawn...? I feel like that's not true at all
-
I'm not going to lie, call me a scrooge if you want. I pop a few snowmen when the game starts so I dont have to worry about popping them later on. This gives less snowmen for the survivors and they have to go out of their way to find them.
Believe me there are ways to deal with the snowmen that dont cost a lot of time at all. You could even use your powers to pop more snowmen costumes faster if you wanted. Especially at the start of the game. Huntress can do it, Trickster, Doc, pretty much every killer has a way to deal with the snowmen early on.
-
Just have to get lucky if you're gonna stay in the same loop forever. Probably better off pre dropping pallets and using longer loops for distance. Like the main building and shack. Also being unpredictable while waiting around walls will help shake off the birds. Most Artists I see will default all of their birds to corners or windows before throwing them.
-
I'm just curious if that means DBD will eventually lose Bubba...

@KayTwoAyy said:
...and an argument could be made that Sweaty Killers don't exist, either.
I feel like a boomer--needing to address this fallacy--with the term "sweaty" only circulating in the gamer community for a little under 4 years now.
A "sweaty gamer" is someone who works harder, not smarter; someone who practices a game's skill mechanics to an extreme, but doesn't fully understand how or why they are applied.
A game needs a substantial skill ceiling in order for players to be provided with an opportunity to "sweat," and the reality is that Dead by Daylight's skill ceiling is incredibly low. There is no skill to master as a survivor in DBD (unless you consider looking behind you while running forward a skill), therefore a good survivor is always working smarter, not harder.
DBD is a thinking game, while a game like Fortnite (where the term "sweaty" emerged) is as much a thinking game as it is physical. It can't even be debated that the two are comparable. Fortnite gamers spend hundreds of hours practicing their fundamentals in creative mode, while DBD gamers spend 2-10hrs (at most) learning to moonwalk in tutorial--a skill, by the way, which doesn't make you any better at DBD.
Simply put, someone is not "sweaty" for playing intelligently.
A survivor's sole objective is to escape, so this idea that someone is "sweaty" for trying to complete the objective is ludicrous.
This is the only PvP game community I have ever seen where players are frowned upon for trying to win. Dead by Daylight is a zero-sum game--you are not hip or cool because you rebel against the game's design. You are not better than someone because you escape after memeing all game while they died trying to play the objective.
You are wrong when you call someone sweaty, and you are wrong to believe you stand on any higher ground because you "don't take video games seriously."
People play video games for a variety of different reasons.
If you play video games to relax and destress, and you don't care about the outcome--congrats, I'm happy for you. But some people play video games to win. Some people might just like the thrill of success. Some people might not be finding success in their own life, so they search for it in video games to help their mental health. And some people just enjoy the process of working towards a game's objective or goal.
Whatever their reason may be, a person is perfectly validated for trying to win.
So Please, stop making fun of people for trying.
I swear if they ever make a video game that's intent on forcing the player to lose... someone will find a way to bug the game so that they win just to say "I did it my own way"
I'm always blown away by people who criticize and demonize players for wanting to play the game normally and possibly even win... just dumbfounded and curious how all of this hate for normal gamers blew up seemingly out of nowhere
-
I had a killer game earlier today where I had to go afk for a bit. I came back surrounded by snowmen... I wasn't even mad, we just danced for a bit and I gave everyone free cosmetics 😂
-
I cant see VHS or even Propnight being serious competitors with DBD. They are way more kid friendly and give off a very different atmosphere altogether. As far as just having other asymmetrical games on the market, yeah. They kinda have competition there
-
You can't win no matter how you spread it. Survivors will complain about the snowmen being worthless if killers can get free hits. Especially since they can't dead hard out of it. So instead it's balanced for cosmetic purposes, and of course it hurts some killers or outright helps survivors escape (even injured).
Overall the snowmen aren't that great. They're even weaker than boon totems. You just pop them as you go around the map, and eventually survivors won't have any left. Sure it hurts everyone, but it ensures zero possibility of escaping because they were able to hop in a snowman during a chase. Chances are you'll hit a survivor who was inside one of them anyway.
-
Just pop the snowmen when you see them around the map.
-
Grats on the escape, it's pretty difficult to pull off
-
What a strange question to ask lol
